IB Tutor near me in Dubai Knowledge Park

Typing IB tutor near me in Dubai Knowledge Park returns a list sorted by distance, which is the one variable that has no effect on your child's grade. This page explains what proximity actually buys, where the supply of higher level subject specialists thins out in this part of Dubai, and the five questions that tell you more about a tutor than a pin on a map. Lessons here run one-to-one, online, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Matched on who has taught the subject at that level to examination
  • Five verifiable questions to ask any tutor, with the warning signs listed
  • Subject-by-subject supply and match times stated rather than implied
  • No home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Knowledge Park

A map search sorts by the wrong column

A near me search is a sensible instinct in the wrong market. It works well for a dentist or a car service, where the thing being bought is local by nature. It works poorly for a Diploma subject specialist, because the pool of people who have taught, say, Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at higher level through to examination is small, distributed across the emirate by where they happen to live, and completely unrelated to the distance from Dubai Knowledge Park. Sorting that list by proximity does not improve it. It shortens it.

Knowledge Park compounds the effect for a specific local reason. It is not a residential neighbourhood with a school in the middle of it. It is a free zone in Al Sufouh built around universities, training institutes and corporate learning providers, sitting between Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City with the tram along its edge. Households connected to it live in Al Sufouh, The Greens, The Views, Barsha Heights, the Marina and JBR, and the children attend schools scattered across Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and the coastal corridor. A search centred on the free zone is centred on offices.

What families are really trying to establish with a near me search is something reasonable: that the tutor is real, reachable and available at a workable hour. Those are the right concerns and none of them requires geography. They are answered by asking what level the tutor has taught, for how long, whether students were taken through to examination, which time zone they will be teaching from, and what they will and will not do with coursework. Five questions, all verifiable, none of them on a map.

This page is built around those questions. It sets out where subject supply genuinely thins in the IB at higher level, what a short match time looks like and what a long one means, what a district like this does to the weekly rhythm, and what we publish about our own limits. It also states the position on delivery plainly: IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, because that is a service we run only in India, and every lesson for a Knowledge Park family is one-to-one, online, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

One more thing worth saying at the start. There are situations where somebody in the room is the better arrangement, and a young child who needs company to stay on task is the clearest of them. We do not sell that format here, and we would rather say so on this page than have the conversation in week three of a block that was never going to suit. The same applies in reverse: where a request is narrow enough that only a handful of people in the country have taught it, we will tell you the wait rather than fill the slot with somebody plausible.

At a glance

  • Distance has no bearing on whether a tutor has taught your child's subject at that level
  • Knowledge Park is a district of institutions and offices, not of school-age households
  • Five verifiable questions replace a map: level taught, duration, examination experience, time zone, coursework limits
  • Higher level supply in specific subjects is genuinely thin, and we state it rather than imply it
  • Lessons run one-to-one, online, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IB request from this corridor can mean one of three programmes plus the transitions between them, and the word tutor carries a different job in each.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Three higher level and three standard level subjects, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and internal assessments. This is where specialism is least substitutable: a higher level subject is a different course from its standard level version, not a longer one, and a tutor who has taught only the standard level course will run out of ground.

Diploma students in this corridor attend schools in Al Sufouh and Al Barsha, and the deadlines that shape their term are the school's internal coursework dates rather than the external session. Ask for those in writing and plan around them; it is the single most useful piece of information a family can hold.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP years 1 to 5

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each marked from zero to eight, combining into a grade from one to seven. The work is criterion-specific: a weak criterion points at a named skill such as investigating patterns or processing and evaluating, and working on the whole subject is the slowest way to move the number.

Requests from here often arrive with a report that a parent cannot read, because there are no percentages on it. Laying the four criterion levels side by side for each subject and finding the outlier takes five minutes and converts a vague worry into one specific piece of work.

PYPAges 3-12 · Early years to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, with no external examinations. Enquiries are mostly about securing foundations a later programme will assume: reading fluency, number sense, writing structure and the habit of explaining reasoning out loud. Short and frequent beats long and occasional at this age by a wide margin.

This is the age group where presence in the room has the most genuine value, and where we are least likely to be the right provider. We say so when asked rather than selling a format that suits us. Where online does work at primary level it is because sessions are short, routine and tightly structured.

TransitionAges 11-17

Into or out of the IB

Students moving from a British, American, Indian or national system into the MYP or Diploma, or leaving the IB for A Levels. Work begins with an audit against the specification rather than with teaching, because transfers arrive unevenly rather than uniformly behind and the audit finds three or four real gaps instead of a syllabus.

The free zones in this cluster have a relocation rhythm, so mid-year arrivals are normal here. A general revision programme is the wrong purchase for a transfer and it is what they are most often sold; one audit session is cheaper and more accurate.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects we are asked for from this corridor. Read the notes as a guide to what each one actually demands, and the supply table further down for how quickly each is typically matched.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most requested and the least substitutable at higher level, where proof, calculus fluency and the exploration carry the grade. A standard level specialist cannot cover it.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology use, with written justification carrying more marks than students expect. Chosen by many as the lighter route and not always correctly.

Physics

HL and SL

Command terms and uncertainty decide the grade with content. Higher level sets in Dubai schools are often small, which is why outside support is sought more here than in other sciences.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Notation is marked as right or wrong: state symbols, charges and mechanism arrow origins. Precision work moves this grade faster than extra content does.

Biology

HL and SL

Terminology and long answers with enough distinct points. The investigation and its internal deadline often matter more to a term than the content.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams, definitions and the internal assessment commentaries. Strong writers lose marks by writing well rather than by writing to the criteria.

Business Management

HL and SL

Applying a tool to a real context rather than describing the tool. Structure carries the written assignment more than content does.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral and the guided textual analysis. Fluency is not analysis, and the distinction is where most of the recoverable marks sit.

Computer Science

HL and SL

A common choice in this corridor given the local employment base. The solution and its documentation are assessed together, which surprises confident programmers.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core

Structural support: narrowing a question, building a claim and counterclaim, using one real example well. Both are coached, and neither is ever written by a tutor.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways we work with IB students here, all one-to-one, online, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

Subject specialist, weekly

The same tutor each week in one subject, matched on having taught that course at that level to examination. This is the arrangement the whole argument on this page is about: the pool is selected on teaching history rather than on travel radius, and for higher level subjects that is the only selection criterion that affects anything.

  • Listed by subject and level taught, not by location
  • Same tutor and same slot each week, with written notes
  • Work set, marked and returned before the next session
  • Tutor changed at no cost if the match is wrong

Diagnostic block with an end date

Four to six sessions aimed at one named problem agreed in writing: a command-term habit, an algebra gap, a criterion three levels behind the others. It finishes when the problem is solved rather than renewing by default, which is often the honest answer to an enquiry that arrived asking for a full term.

  • One named problem, written down at the start
  • Marked evidence at the beginning and at the end
  • A stated finish point rather than an open booking
  • Frequently cheaper than what was originally requested

Coursework process coaching

Internal assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. The work is narrowing a question, planning, and replying to the student's own drafts with the questions an examiner would ask. The student writes every word; we do not draft, complete, rewrite or supply assessed work, and that limit does not move.

  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable
  • Timeline built backwards from the school's internal deadline
  • Feedback as examiner questions, never as improved text
  • The school supervisor remains the authority on permitted support

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Dubai Knowledge Park

Every tutor below is listed by the subject and level they have taught to examination, because that is the variable that changes outcomes. None is listed by how far they live from Al Sufouh, because for a student on a screen that number has no meaning.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Knowledge Park

01

What proximity actually buys, and what it costs

  • Proximity buys presence, lower coordination burden and visible accountability
  • It costs selection, and the cost rises as the requirement narrows
  • Vague requirement: optimise for convenience. Narrow requirement: optimise for the requirement
  • Travel exposes the arrangement to the evening roads around three free zones
  • A late arrival consumes part of an hour that was paid for whole

Proximity buys three things and they are worth naming properly rather than dismissing. It buys presence, which for a younger child or a student who will not stay on task alone is genuinely valuable. It buys a lower coordination burden: no screen to set up, no headphones to find, no camera to angle. And it buys a feeling of accountability, because a person at the table is visibly working for the hour you paid for.

What it costs is selection. Requiring a tutor to be within a short drive of Al Sufouh at a particular hour removes most of the list before quality is considered at all. For a general request that is tolerable, because many people can help a Year 7 student with written structure. For a higher level Diploma subject it is severe, because the number of people who have taught that specific course to examination is modest to begin with and the geographic filter cuts it again.

That trade-off scales with how specific the requirement is, which is the single most useful idea on this page. A vague requirement can be met by many people, so optimise for convenience. A narrow requirement can be met by few, so optimise for the narrow thing and treat everything else as secondary. Most families know which situation they are in and then choose as if they were in the other one, usually because the near me search made convenience the visible variable and specialism the invisible one.

There is a second cost that nobody prices, which is reliability. An arrangement where somebody travels is exposed to the evening roads around three free zones, and a tutor who arrives fifteen minutes late has consumed a quarter of a sixty-minute lesson paid for in full. Over an eight-week block in this corridor that is a material loss, and it is larger than any plausible difference in teaching quality between two competent tutors.

02

Where IB supply genuinely thins, subject by subject

No competitor page examined for this project discloses a coverage limit, and several route UAE parents to phone numbers in other countries without saying so. We take the opposite approach because it is more useful: here is where matching is quick, where it is slow, and where we will tell you we cannot help.

Standard level maths, the standard level sciences, English A, Economics and Business Management are matched quickly, as is MYP support across most subject groups. These are the subjects most students take and the ones most teachers have taught. If your request sits here, the conversation about availability is short and the choice is about fit rather than about scarcity.

Higher level requests behave differently, and the reason is arithmetic rather than reluctance. A higher level course is a different syllabus from its standard level counterpart, so the qualifying pool is only those who have taught the higher level version through to examination. Add a specific gap - a particular HL extension, a mechanism-heavy stretch of chemistry, proof in Analysis and Approaches - and the pool narrows again. Add a fixed weekday slot and it narrows once more. None of those filters is unreasonable; together they produce a short list, and a provider claiming otherwise is not counting.

The table states the picture honestly. The right-hand column is the one that matters: what we disclose before a booking rather than after one. Where we cannot cover a request properly we say so instead of placing a generalist, because a generalist on a specialist paper six weeks from a session produces sessions that confirm what the family already knew.

03

Five questions that tell you more than a postcode

If a map cannot sort tutors usefully, something has to. These five questions can be asked of any provider in any format, the answers are verifiable, and the willingness to answer is as informative as the answers themselves. We would encourage a family to ask them of us and of everyone else they are considering, in the same words.

The first is which level of the subject the tutor has taught, and for how long. The second is whether they have taken students through to examination in it, because teaching a course and finishing a course are different experiences. The third is where they are based and which time zone they will teach from, which affects scheduling and which several providers in this market conceal. The fourth is whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which applies to individuals tutoring in the UAE. The fifth is exactly what they will and will not do with an internal assessment or an Extended Essay.

That last question is the most discriminating of the five. A provider who answers it precisely has thought about academic honesty. A provider who answers it vaguely, or who implies that a draft could be improved for the student, has told you something important at no cost to you. One provider examined for this project advertises completed internal assessments at a published price, which is an academic-malpractice trigger under the International Baccalaureate's own rules and a consequence that falls on the student.

The table sets out each question with why it matters, what a good answer sounds like and what should worry you. It is deliberately usable against us as well as against anyone else, because a checklist that only flatters its author is marketing rather than advice.

04

Why this particular district has unusual tutor geography

  • The free zone belt is offices and institutions, not school-age households
  • Households sit inland and along the coast; schools sit in Al Sufouh and Al Barsha
  • A high density of teaching qualifications is not a supply of Diploma specialists
  • Al Sufouh, Barsha Heights, The Greens: 17:00 starts are realistic
  • Marina and JBR: 17:30 or later, or expect reschedules

Knowledge Park is worth understanding on its own terms because it explains why a near me search behaves strangely here. The free zone was established around education and human-resource activity: branch campuses, training institutes and corporate learning providers, with the tram running past and the Metro a short distance inland. It is adjacent to Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, and together the three form a continuous belt of offices and institutional buildings rather than of family housing.

The practical consequence is that a search centred on the free zone is centred on workplaces. The households are in The Greens, The Views, Barsha Heights, Al Sufouh proper, and down the coast in the Marina and JBR. The schools are mostly in Al Sufouh and Al Barsha. A parent at a desk in Knowledge Park at two in the afternoon who searches for a tutor near me is asking a question about where they are standing rather than about where the lesson will happen, and the two are frequently several kilometres apart.

There is an irony worth naming. The district contains a high density of people with teaching qualifications, because that is what the free zone is for. Almost none of them is a secondary-school subject specialist available at 17:30 on a Tuesday, and several would be constrained by their own employment arrangements. Proximity to a university campus is not proximity to a Diploma physics teacher, and the search results will not distinguish between the two.

What does genuinely differ by neighbourhood here is timing rather than supply. Students returning to Al Sufouh, Barsha Heights, The Greens or The Views can realistically start a session at 17:00 on most weekdays. Students returning to the Marina or JBR cannot, and a slot booked earlier will be rescheduled within a month. That is the local fact worth building a plan around, and it applies whichever provider a family chooses.

05

Building a week that actually survives: the local rhythm

A tutoring arrangement is only worth the sessions that happen, and in this corridor the sessions that happen are the ones placed where the week has room. That is a scheduling exercise rather than an educational one, and it is worth five minutes of thought before any booking. The variables are the school's finish time, the return journey, activities, a parent's working hours, and in many households a second child with a different timetable.

The pattern we see most often is that weekday evenings from 17:30 are the reliable territory, with earlier slots workable only for students returning to the nearer neighbourhoods. Weekend mornings are excellent for longer or coursework-focused sessions, because nothing is competing and the student is not already tired. Mid-afternoon on a weekday almost never works during term, and families who try it tend to be rebooking within a fortnight.

Two household rules make a block finish rather than fragment. The first is one subject per evening: a second session on the same night is attended rather than used, and the student retains very little of it. The second is the same subject on the same night each week, so nothing has to be negotiated. Those two decisions are entirely within a family's control and they do more for consistency than any choice of tutor.

The table maps the week as it tends to work here. Treat it as a starting point for a conversation rather than a prescription, and adjust it for the actual school and the actual journey. Where a parent works in the free zone and is unavailable at session time, written notes after each lesson and a recording carry the information that a doorstep conversation otherwise would.

Diploma, MYP and PYP: what support looks like at each level

  • Diploma: subject-specific and technical, where specialism least substitutes
  • MYP: criterion-specific, and a cross-subject pattern is usually one problem
  • PYP: foundational, short and frequent, and often not a job for a screen
  • Transitions: audit first, teach second, always
  • Read the report before buying anything; it is the cheapest diagnosis available

The three IB programmes need three different kinds of help and the same word covers all of them, which is why enquiries are often mismatched to what gets delivered. In the Diploma the work is subject-specific and technical: content gaps, command-term precision, uncertainty and notation, and process coaching on coursework. Specialism matters most here and substitution works least.

In the Middle Years Programme the work is criterion-specific rather than subject-specific. A student with a low criterion C in two subjects may have one problem with two symptoms, because the communicating and producing-text criteria reward structure that transfers. The useful first step is to read the report properly: four criterion levels per subject, side by side, looking for the outlier, then asking the teacher which task produced it. That conversation is free and it is more valuable than the first three tutoring sessions.

In the Primary Years Programme the work is foundational and the honest recommendation is often not us. Reading fluency, number sense, writing structure and explaining reasoning aloud are best built in short frequent sessions, and at this age presence in the room has real value. Where online does work at primary level it is because the sessions are short, highly routine and tightly structured, and because a parent is nearby rather than on a call.

Transitions deserve their own treatment. A student arriving mid-course from another system should get an audit before any teaching: specification topic by topic, what was covered and to what depth, compared with the new school's teaching order. Transfers arrive unevenly, not uniformly behind, and the audit typically finds three or four genuine gaps rather than a syllabus. It is one session, and it prevents months of paying to cover material the student already holds.

07

Academic honesty, and the limits we put in writing

  • Tutors teach, mark and give feedback on the student's own work
  • Nothing is written, drafted, rewritten or supplied by a tutor
  • Feedback arrives as the questions an examiner would ask
  • The school supervisor decides what is permitted; ask before you need to
  • No board or regulator approval is held, and there is no UAE office

Delivery format is a preference. What a tutor does with assessed work is not, and it is the thing a parent should be most careful about in this market. One provider examined for this project sells completed internal assessments at a published price. That is an academic-malpractice trigger under the International Baccalaureate's own rules, and the consequence sits with the student rather than with the seller.

Our limit is the same in every subject and on every page. A tutor teaches, explains, sets work, marks it, and gives feedback on the student's own writing. For an internal assessment, an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge essay or an MYP Personal Project, that means coaching the process: narrowing a question until it is answerable, planning, teaching how sources are evaluated and cited, and reading a draft the student wrote to reply with the questions an examiner or supervisor would ask next.

What a tutor must never do is write, draft, complete or rewrite any part of the work, supply data, or provide another student's work as a model to adapt. We will not do it and would rather lose the enquiry. The reason we publish the limit instead of just holding it is that a parent cannot easily compare providers on teaching quality and can compare them instantly on this, which makes it the most useful thing we can put in writing.

The school is the authority on permitted support for any specific task. Supervisors set internal rules, record the help given, and sometimes require a declaration. Ask them early, because the answer occasionally changes what kind of help is useful. We are also explicit about what we are not: a tutor-matching platform with no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the International Baccalaureate, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or the Ministry of Education, and with no office, centre or branch anywhere in the UAE.

Where we tutor

What is actually near Dubai Knowledge Park

If a near me search is going to be used at all, it helps to know what the surrounding area contains. These are the neighbourhoods around the free zone and what each one means for a tutoring arrangement.

Al Sufouh

The district the free zone sits in, with established schools on short runs. Local tutor supply looks healthiest here and still thins at higher level in specific subjects.

Dubai Internet City

Adjacent and continuous. Offices rather than households, which is part of why a map search centred here returns institutions instead of teachers.

Dubai Media City

The third free zone in the cluster, with production and shift hours that make a fixed weekly slot harder to protect than in a conventional neighbourhood.

The Greens and The Views

The nearest genuinely residential belt, mid-rise and walkable, where a consistent weekly slot is easiest to hold across a full block.

Barsha Heights

Dense and close to the Al Barsha schools. Short journeys, so this is where proximity arguments are strongest and still do not solve the specialism problem.

Dubai Marina and JBR

The largest residential concentration within reach and the slowest afternoon return, which pushes realistic session start times to 17:30 or later.

Al Barsha

Where much of the IB provision used by this corridor sits. The school is usually in a different neighbourhood from the home, which is the geography a near me search does not capture.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Describe the requirement, not the radius

Programme, subject, level, and what specifically is going wrong. That is what determines who can help and how long matching takes. A request for a tutor near Knowledge Park tells us nothing we can act on; a request for higher level Chemistry with a gap in the mechanism material tells us everything.

  2. 02

We state availability and location first

Before anything else you get the level the tutor has taught, whether they have taken students to examination, where they are based, and how long a match will take. If we cannot cover the request properly we say so rather than offering a generalist. No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit at all.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson on your child's own work

The first session is free and runs on a marked script or a current task rather than on a conversation about services. A short written note follows naming the problem, its likely cause and the order to fix things in. The note is yours whether or not you book, because it is a diagnosis rather than a sales document.

  4. 04

Place the slot where the week has room

One weekly time in Gulf Standard Time, chosen against the actual journey: 17:00 for Al Sufouh, Barsha Heights, The Greens and The Views, 17:30 or later for the Marina and JBR, and weekend mornings for coursework or whole-paper work. One subject per evening, and the same evening each week.

  5. 05

Review on evidence and finish when it is finished

Short blocks have an agreed end point and get reviewed against marked work rather than against a feeling. If the problem is solved we say so and stop. If the match is wrong we change tutor at no cost. Open-ended monthly renewal suits a provider more than a family, and we would rather be asked back.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the variable that affects the grade

Tutors are listed by the subject and level they have taught to examination rather than by distance from Al Sufouh. For a higher level Diploma subject that is the only selection criterion with any bearing on the outcome, and a geographic filter removes most of the qualifying pool before quality is considered.

Supply and match times stated, not implied

This page says which requests are matched quickly, which are genuinely short lists and which we will decline. Where a wait is involved you get the expected length in writing before booking. Several providers in this market conceal where their tutors are; we state it first.

A checklist that can be used against us

The five questions on this page work on any provider including this one, and the warning signs are written plainly. A checklist that only flatters its author is marketing. We would rather be asked the hard version of the fifth question than win a booking by being vague about it.

Sessions placed where the week has room

Timing in this corridor is set by the return journey, not by preference, and we plan against the actual one. Because nothing is delivered by car, the slot only has to survive the household, which is why fixed weekly times here tend to hold through a full block.

A published limit on assessed work

We coach the process on internal assessments, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and the Personal Project, and we write none of them. In a market where completed coursework is advertised at a price, the limit in writing is the most useful comparison a parent has.

Honest about when another format is better

For a young child, or a student who needs an adult beside them to stay on task, presence has real value. We do not sell that in the UAE and we say so on the page rather than discovering it with you in week three of a block that was never going to work.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Knowledge Park: your questions answered

Why does searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Knowledge Park return so little?+

Because the free zone is a belt of offices and institutions rather than a residential neighbourhood with a school in it. Knowledge Park sits in Al Sufouh between Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, built around universities, training institutes and corporate learning providers. The households connected to it are in The Greens, The Views, Barsha Heights, the Marina and JBR, and the schools are in Al Sufouh and Al Barsha. A search centred on the free zone is centred on workplaces, which is why the results feel thin and unhelpful.

Does it matter where an IB tutor lives if lessons are online?+

Only for the time zone. What matters is which level of the subject the tutor has taught, for how long, and whether they have taken students through to examination in it. Distance has no mechanism by which it could affect any of those. We do state where a tutor is based before you book, because it affects whether a 17:30 Gulf Standard Time slot is comfortable for them and because several providers in this market conceal it while routing UAE parents to numbers in other countries.

Will IB Gram send someone to our home near the free zones?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; sending a tutor to a family address is a service we run only in India. Lessons for Knowledge Park families are delivered one-to-one online over live video in Gulf Standard Time. For a Diploma student needing a specific subject at a specific level that is the stronger option rather than a compromise, because the match is made on teaching history instead of on who can reach Al Sufouh in the evening peak. For a very young child, presence in the room has real value and we are not the right provider.

How quickly can an IB tutor be matched for a student in this corridor?+

It depends entirely on the request. Standard level maths and sciences, English A, Economics and most MYP subject groups are matched quickly. Higher level requests with a specific named gap draw on a genuinely short list, because three filters apply at once: the level, the topic and your preferred slot. Less commonly taught Diploma subjects may not be available at all, and we say so rather than placing a generalist. Where a wait is involved, you get the expected length in writing before any booking is made.

What are the five questions worth asking any IB tutor?+

Which level of this subject have you taught, and for how long? Have you taken students through to examination in it? Where are you based, and in which time zone will you teach? Do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit? And exactly what will you do, and refuse to do, with an internal assessment or Extended Essay? All five are verifiable and the fifth is the most discriminating: a provider who answers it vaguely, or hints that a draft could be improved, has told you something important at no cost to you.

When is a capable tutor close by a better buy than a subject specialist further away?+

Yes, when the requirement is broad. A Year 7 student who needs help with written structure, or a Year 9 student rebuilding number confidence, can be well served by many capable people, and convenience is a reasonable thing to optimise for. The calculation reverses as the requirement narrows. A Diploma student six weeks from a higher level paper with a specific gap can be helped by few people, and adding a travel-radius filter to a short list produces a shorter one. The rule is simple: the narrower the need, the less geography should matter.

Why is higher level supply thinner than standard level?+

Because a higher level course is a different syllabus rather than a harder version of the same one, so the qualifying pool is only teachers who have taught the higher level material through to examination. Fewer students take it, so fewer teachers have taught it. Add a specific gap, such as a particular HL extension or proof work in Analysis and Approaches, and the pool narrows again. In Dubai schools higher level sets are often small, which is also why a student can be the only person in their class stuck on a particular problem.

What time should we book a session for a student returning to the Marina?+

17:30 or later. The afternoon return from Al Barsha or the coastal schools to the Marina and JBR is the slowest in this corridor, and a slot booked before 17:30 will be rescheduled within a month. For students returning to Al Sufouh, Barsha Heights, The Greens or The Views, 17:00 is realistic on most weekdays. Weekend mornings are the best and most underused slot of all, particularly for coursework coaching or a whole paper under time, because nothing competes and the student is not already tired.

How do we read an MYP report before deciding what to buy?+

Lay out the four criterion levels for each subject side by side and look for the outlier. Levels of six, six, three and six point at one specific skill rather than at the subject. Then compare the same criterion type across subjects: a low communicating or producing-text criterion in three subjects at once is usually one problem with three symptoms. Finally, ask the teacher which task produced the lowest level and what a higher level would have required on that task. That conversation is free and worth more than the first three sessions of anything.

Can a tutor help with an internal assessment or the Extended Essay?+

With the process, yes. A tutor can help narrow a research question until it is answerable, plan the work, teach how sources are evaluated and cited, and respond to the drafts your child wrote with the questions an examiner or supervisor would ask next. A tutor must not write, draft, complete or rewrite any part of it, supply data, or provide another student's work as a model. Your child's supervisor sets the rules for permitted support in their case, so ask early, since the answer sometimes changes what kind of help is useful.

If the first tutor is not a good fit for our child, what then?+

We change tutor at no cost, and we would rather do it in week two than defend a match into week six. Fit is not only about subject knowledge: pace, manner and the ability to be blunt with a particular teenager all matter, and they are hard to predict from a profile. The free trial lesson exists partly for this reason. We do not tie a change of tutor to any outcome-based refund arrangement, because a refund guarantee tied to a grade is the kind of promise that should be read very carefully whoever offers it.

Do we need a tutor who has taught at our child's specific school?+

Not usually, and it is a common instinct. What matters is the programme, the subject and the level, which are set by the International Baccalaureate rather than by the school. Where the school does matter is in sequencing and deadlines: the department's teaching order and its internal coursework dates shape what a tutor should be working on this month. Those are obtained by asking the school for the scheme of work and the internal deadlines, and any good tutor can use them without having worked in the building.

Is there a free trial, and what are the conditions?+

The first session is free, it runs for a full lesson, and it is spent working on your child's own material rather than on a conversation about our services. There is no card requirement to book it and no obligation afterwards. You receive a short written note naming the problem, its likely cause and the order in which to address it, and that note is yours whether or not you continue. If the honest conclusion is that four sessions would do what a term was being bought for, the note will say that.

Does IB Gram hold any IB or KHDA approval?+

No, and no page here will suggest otherwise. We hold no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or the Ministry of Education, and we operate no office, centre or branch in the UAE. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute; we hold none because we have no premises. Where this page names a regulator, it is to explain what that body does and to point you at its own pages.

Sort by the column that matters

A near me search sorts tutors by the one variable that has no effect on your child's grade. If the requirement is broad, convenience is a fair thing to optimise for and a capable person close by will do. If it is narrow, which is usually the case by the time somebody is searching at all, then the question is who has taught this subject at this level through to examination, and the answer has nothing to do with distance from Al Sufouh. Tell us the programme, the subject, the level and what is going wrong, and we will tell you how long a match takes, where the tutor is based, and whether we can help at all. Lessons run one-to-one, online, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.
