IB Score 45 Coaching in Dubai

IB score 45 coaching in Dubai is usually bought by the month, not the hour, because a 45 is a two-year project rather than an exam-term sprint. Six sevens plus three core points, with no subject allowed to slip. Below is what that costs in AED across a Dubai school year, where the sixth and seventh grade points actually separate, and what no coach can promise you.

  • Costed by the month across a two-year Diploma plan
  • Work targeted at the 6-to-7 boundary, not general revision
  • Core points treated as three points, not an afterthought

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

What a 45 costs in money, time and realism

Start with the arithmetic, because it governs everything else. Forty-five points means grade 7 in all six subjects, which gives 42, plus the full three points from the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay combination. There is no spare capacity anywhere in that total. A single 6 caps the score at 44, and a 6 with two core points caps it at 43. That is why 45 coaching is structurally different from grade improvement work: it is not about lifting a weak subject, it is about preventing any subject from being the one that slips.

The cost follows from the structure. A family targeting 45 is usually buying support across two or three subjects over most of two years, rather than six weeks in one subject before an exam. Published Dubai market rates in October 2026 put qualified online subject tutoring at AED 150 to 300 an hour and IB specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above, with one premium provider publishing AED 650. At the specialist band, two one-hour sessions a week across a Dubai school year is a meaningful household line item, and the monthly view is the honest one. Bestimate's own Dubai monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support.

That number is worth setting against the thing it is bought alongside. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. School fees are frozen; tutoring is not, and families aiming at 45 often find the tutoring line grows faster than the fee line across DP2.

The second honest point concerns who 45 coaching is for. Students who reach the top of the Diploma range are usually already strong, and the work is therefore narrow: the last two marks on a seven-mark question, the evaluation sentence in an Economics answer, the criterion-C detail in an Internal Assessment. A student currently at a 5 who wants a 7 needs a different and longer piece of work, and we will say so rather than sell a package with the wrong label on it. No provider can guarantee a score, and one offering it is telling you something useful about its other claims.

All of our UAE sessions run one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. For work this specific the online format is what makes it possible at all, since a Dubai family needing someone who can mark Chemistry HL Paper 3 at the 6-to-7 boundary is choosing from a very small pool and should not also be choosing by postcode.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A 45 is built across the whole Diploma and influenced by what happened before it. Here is where the points are won and lost at each stage.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma Programme Year 2

Where the score is realised. Internal Assessments are finalised across six subjects, mocks are sat, and the May session arrives. Costs peak here because families typically run support in two or three subjects simultaneously, and the work is boundary-level rather than remedial.

Dubai DP2 students carry an unusually dense winter: mocks between late November and early February, Internal Assessment deadlines spread across the same weeks, the KHDA mandatory subjects still timetabled, and university applications running in parallel. Families aiming at 45 who have not costed DP2 before it begins almost always find the monthly figure higher than expected.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma Programme Year 1

The cheaper year to buy support in, and the more decisive one. Content taught in DP1 underpins half of every paper, and a topic left shaky in DP1 costs marks in DP2 at a much higher hourly rate. Extended Essay work also begins here.

The best-value 45 plans we see in Dubai start in DP1 with one subject and one hour a week, not DP2 with three subjects and six. Specialist availability across the emirate is also loosest in DP1, before every school's mock lands in the same fortnight and the specialist bands tighten.

COREAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

TOK, Extended Essay and CAS

Three points sit here, awarded through the IB's published matrix combining the TOK and Extended Essay grades. CAS is a completion requirement rather than a graded one. For a 45 the core must deliver its full three points, which makes these the least optional components in the Diploma.

Core support is the cheapest point-per-dirham available to a Dubai family chasing 45, and the least bought. Two or three sessions reading the published criteria alongside a student, then giving feedback on their own drafts, costs a fraction of a term of subject tutoring and protects points that are otherwise left to chance.

MYP5Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Middle Years Programme Year 5

Where the subject combination is chosen. A 45 is far harder from three Higher Levels chosen against a student's strengths than from three chosen with them, and that decision is made here, usually quickly and with limited information about what each course actually assesses.

Dubai students arriving in DP1 from MYP rather than IGCSE often have no experience of timed external-style papers, which costs them early DP1 marks and can set a low expectation in a department. For a family with 45 in mind, a short block on exam technique in the MYP5 summer is unusually good value.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

At the top of the range, the question is never whether the student knows the topic. The list below names what separates a 6 from a 7 in each subject and what that costs in hours.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The 7 lives in the last parts of the long questions and in proof. Students at 6 usually complete the routine work and lose the final three or four marks of each extended question. Expect sustained weekly work rather than a short block, which is why this is the most costly subject on a 45 plan.

Physics

HL

Separation happens in fields, induction and the option topic, plus data analysis precision on Paper 3. A 6 is a student who can do the physics; a 7 is one who also manages uncertainty, significant figures and the data booklet without thinking about them.

Chemistry

HL

Paper 2 extended responses and organic mechanisms decide it, with the Internal Assessment's data treatment criteria the second lever. Hours here are usually front-loaded in DP1, because the content volume makes late repair expensive.

Biology

HL

The 7 is earned on command-term precision and on the detail the mark scheme names: specific examples, specific terminology, causal chains rather than correlations. Comparatively cheap to improve, because the work is technique rather than content.

Economics

HL

Evaluation and diagram accuracy, plus HL Paper 3 quantitative work. One of the faster subjects to move at the boundary, since a student who reaches a judgement supported by a correct diagram gains marks immediately.

English A: Language and Literature

HL

Paper 1 guided analysis and the HL essay separate the top two grades. The difference is analytical precision about how a text produces meaning rather than what it says, and it responds to regular marked practice on unseen extracts.

History

HL

Historiography and the depth of the HL Paper 3 answers decide the grade. A 7 answer uses historians' arguments as evidence rather than decoration, which is a habit built across a year rather than a term.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The boundary sits in statistical interpretation, modelling justification and the exploration. Students lose the top marks by calculating correctly and then failing to state what the result means in context.

Spanish, French and Arabic B

HL and SL

A 7 requires range and accuracy under time in the productive skills, plus confident handling of the oral. Sustained short sessions work better than long ones, which changes the cost shape to more frequent and shorter bookings.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The essay and exhibition are graded and feed the three core points. Work is feedback on the student's own claims, counterclaims and examples against the published criteria, with nothing drafted for them. Cheapest point-movement in the Diploma.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Top-band coaching is bought in three shapes, and the cost differences between them are large. All three run one-to-one over live video.

Two-year monthly plan

One or two subjects at a steady weekly hour from DP1 through to the May session of DP2, with the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge folded in at the points where they matter. The lowest total cost per point gained, because DP1 hours prevent DP2 repairs that would be bought at the specialist rate.

  • Costed and reviewed by the month, not the hour
  • Starts in DP1 while content is still being taught
  • Core components scheduled rather than left to chance
  • Paused deliberately during exam and travel weeks

Boundary block in one subject

Six to ten sessions aimed at the specific gap between a 6 and a 7 in one subject, usually a Higher Level science or Mathematics. The tutor works from marked papers to identify where the final marks are going, then drills those question types under time.

  • One subject, one defined mark gap
  • Marked long-question practice every session
  • Question-type drilling rather than topic revision
  • Runs four to eight weeks

Core points block

A short block on the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, which together carry the three points a 45 requires. Feedback on the student's own drafts against the published criteria, with the writing remaining entirely theirs. The cheapest part of a 45 plan and the most frequently skipped.

  • Criteria read strand by strand with the student
  • Research question and argument interrogated, not written
  • Usually three to five sessions in total
  • Scheduled around the school's internal deadlines

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

The AED cost of a 45 plan, by the month

Most tutoring pages quote an hourly figure because it is the smaller number. For a family aiming at 45 it is also the least useful one, since the commitment is measured in school years. The figures below are other providers' published Dubai rates read in October 2026, converted into the monthly shape a household actually budgets in. They are the market, not IB Gram's price list.

Work from the bottom row upwards. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for weekly one-hour sessions are AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Monthly packages visible in the market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. A 45 plan running two subjects weekly at the specialist band therefore sits well above a single-subject budget arrangement, and the gap compounds over 24 months.

Three things move the figure more than the provider's brand does. Level is the first: Higher Level sciences and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches command the top of every band, while an SL humanities subject sits lower. Frequency is the second, and it is the variable families control: one weekly hour in DP1 and two in DP2 costs far less in total than three weekly hours from January of DP2, and usually produces more. Timing is the third, because Dubai specialist availability tightens each winter when every school's mock returns at once, and tight availability firms prices.

A useful planning discipline is to cost the whole Diploma before starting rather than month by month. Two subjects at a weekly hour across both years, plus a short core block and a boundary block in the spring of DP2, is a budget a family can actually hold. Six subjects at two hours a week from the start of DP2 is a budget almost nobody holds, and the plans that collapse mid-year are usually the ones that were never costed end to end.

Where the 6 becomes a 7

Students aiming at 45 rarely lose marks to ignorance. They lose them in a pattern that is remarkably consistent across subjects: the final marks of extended questions, the precision the mark scheme names, and the judgement sentence that converts analysis into evaluation. A tutor's job at this level is to find that pattern in marked work and drill the specific question types where it appears, which is a narrower activity than revision.

The pattern differs in texture by subject group. In the sciences it is usually precision: uncertainty treatment, significant figures, naming the control variable, giving the mechanism rather than the correlation. In Mathematics it is the last parts of long questions, where routine technique runs out and the question asks for structure. In the humanities it is evaluation: students at 6 present both sides fully and never reach a defensible judgement, which caps the band regardless of knowledge.

Internal Assessments are the other half of the picture, and the half that is more controllable. Every subject's IA is marked against published criteria that the student can read, and the top criterion bands are specific about what they require. A student who has read the criteria and a student who has not produce visibly different work, and the second kind is more common than it should be, including among strong students in good Dubai schools.

The honest limit on all of this: no amount of coaching makes a 7 certain, in any subject, and nobody who says otherwise should be trusted with the money. Grade boundaries move session to session, papers vary in difficulty, and examination days are human events. What boundary work does is remove the predictable losses, which is the only part of the outcome anyone can actually act on.

The three core points nobody budgets for

A 45 is impossible without the full three core points, and they are awarded through the IB's published matrix combining the Theory of Knowledge grade with the Extended Essay grade. Your school's Diploma coordinator holds that matrix and will show it to you. The practical consequence is simple: a student with six 7s and a weak core does not score 45, and the components involved are among the least coached in the entire Diploma.

That is strange, because they are the most tractable. The Extended Essay is a 4,000-word independent piece written to published criteria over many months, with a supervisor attached. Theory of Knowledge is an essay to a prescribed title plus an exhibition. In both cases the criteria are available, the deadlines are internal and knowable, and the work is produced slowly enough for feedback to be absorbed. Compare that with trying to move a Higher Level science grade in the spring of DP2.

The boundary matters here more than anywhere else on this page. A tutor can discuss a research question, ask whether the method answers it, point out that an argument has no counterclaim, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor cannot write it, rewrite it or edit it to completion. At least one provider ranking for UAE IB queries sells completed Internal Assessments at around AED 3,750, and a student submitting bought work risks a malpractice finding against the whole Diploma. For a 45 candidate that is the single worst trade available.

Practically, three to five sessions across DP1 and early DP2 covers this ground: reading the criteria together, interrogating the research question early enough that it can still change, and one round of structured feedback on the student's own draft. On a two-year budget it is the smallest line and the one protecting three of the 45 points.

04

Building a two-year plan a Dubai household can hold

  • Cost the full two years before starting, not month by month
  • Start in DP1, where an hour prevents a DP2 repair at a higher rate
  • Schedule the pauses: mock fortnight, IA deadlines, travel weeks
  • Buy core points first; they are the cheapest points on the plan

The plans that survive are the ones built against the school's real calendar. In Dubai that means the mock window between late November and early February, Internal Assessment deadlines spread across the same period, the KHDA mandatory subjects of Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies which remain timetabled throughout, the winter break, and Ramadan. A plan that assumes 48 clear weeks a year is fiction, and the first version families write usually does.

A workable shape looks like this. DP1: one subject at a weekly hour, chosen as the one most likely to cause trouble later, plus an early Extended Essay conversation. DP1 summer: a short block on whatever the end-of-year examinations exposed, which is the cheapest repair window in the two years. DP2 autumn: a second subject added, core work scheduled before the application rush. DP2 winter: boundary work on marked mock papers. DP2 spring: timed full-paper rotation.

Deliberate pauses matter as much as sessions. The fortnight a student is sitting mocks is not a fortnight to add tutoring hours; the week an Internal Assessment is due is not either. Families who plan the pauses in advance keep the plan; families who improvise them tend to drop the plan entirely and restart it late at a higher cost. Ramadan commonly moves a recurring slot to a post-Iftar time, which students frequently prefer.

On where the hours should go when the budget is finite, the ranking we would argue for is: core components first because the points are cheap, then the Higher Level subject most likely to slip, then a second Higher Level, then anything else. Spreading a fixed budget thinly across six subjects is the pattern that most reliably produces no change anywhere, and it is the pattern an anxious January produces by default.

05

Online delivery against in-home coaching at this level

At the top of the grade range the tutor's exactness is the whole product. The person reviewing a Mathematics AA HL script has to know where the final marks of a long question are won, and that is a narrow specialism. Dubai's in-home market is real and large, with published rates from roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, but it is bounded by who will drive to your community in the hours a Diploma student is free.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. All UAE sessions run one-to-one over live video, as stated on every other country page on this site. The practical gain for boundary work is twofold. The tutor pool is the whole pool rather than the drivable subset, and marked work is annotated on a shared screen and saved, so across two years a student accumulates a reviewable archive of their own corrected long answers, which is itself a revision resource at the end.

The in-home premium also looks different on a two-year plan than on a six-week block. Travel sits inside the hourly rate, and across 60 or 70 sessions that is a substantial sum spent on moving a person around Dubai rather than on teaching. Families costing a 45 plan tend to notice that line once the arithmetic is monthly rather than hourly.

Where in-home genuinely wins is with younger students who need someone physically present. A DP1 or DP2 student working at the 6-to-7 boundary does not need presence; they need the right examiner-literate specialist and a stable weekly hour. The comparison below sets out the trade across the factors that matter on a long plan.

What nobody can promise, and what that means for the money

No tutoring provider can guarantee a 45, a 7, or any specific point total. Grade boundaries are set after each session and move with the paper's difficulty; the IB publishes no advance boundary; and examination performance on the day varies for reasons nobody controls. A guarantee in this market is either a refund scheme with conditions buried somewhere, or a claim that cannot be honoured. We offer neither, and we would treat a competitor's guarantee as information about the rest of its page.

What a family is actually buying is the removal of predictable losses. Marks lost to command-term errors, to unshown method, to unread Internal Assessment criteria, to an Extended Essay research question that was never interrogated, to timing collapse on a paper the student had never sat under full conditions: all of those are foreseeable and addressable. The unpredictable remainder is the examination itself.

That framing also tells a Dubai family when to stop spending. If a student is already handling the boundary question types cleanly, has read the criteria for every Internal Assessment, and is completing full papers under time with marks to spare, the marginal hour is buying very little. We would rather say that and lose the booking than run a plan with nothing left to fix, and we tell families at the week-three review when we think that point has arrived.

One final caution about claims in this market. Statistics about results, satisfaction and tutor quality circulate freely on these pages with no stated sample, date or method behind them, and self-asserted star ratings appear in schema that contradict the visible page. Treat any figure without a source as decoration, including on this page: every number here is attributed, and the AED figures all carry the provider that published them and the month we read them.

07

Starting a 45 plan, and what we will tell you first

Send the subject list with levels, the most recent marks and what they were marked against, and which year the student is in. With that we can say whether the target is realistic from the current position, which subjects should be prioritised on a finite budget, and whether a specialist in the relevant Higher Levels is actually free. Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL and the HL sciences are where Dubai availability tightens first.

We will also be direct about the gap between the aspiration and the evidence. A student averaging 5s in DP1 can improve substantially, and we will say what that looks like, but we will not label it a 45 plan. Mislabelling the target is how families end up spending two years disappointed by genuine progress, and it is a sales habit rather than a teaching one.

The trial lesson is free and carries no condition beyond booking a time. On a two-year plan the match matters more than on a six-week block, so the trial exists to test it properly: the student works on real material at the boundary and says afterwards whether the teaching was useful. If the fit is wrong we would rather find out in the first hour than the tenth.

After that the plan is written against the school calendar, costed by the month, and reviewed with marked evidence rather than impressions. We will tell you when a subject no longer needs the hour, and we will tell you when the right answer is to spend the remaining budget on the Extended Essay instead of a sixth subject. On a 45 plan, knowing where not to spend is most of the value.

Where we tutor

Where the 45 conversation happens in Dubai

High-end Diploma coaching demand clusters around particular Dubai communities and the schools they feed. Rates do not differ by postcode online, but the questions families ask do.

Emirates Hills and The Meadows

Long-established Diploma cohorts with strong university ambitions. Enquiries here tend to start in DP1 and run two subjects simultaneously, which makes the monthly figure the relevant one from the outset.

Dubai Hills Estate

Newer cohorts, often with United States applications in play. Questions here usually concern core points and the Extended Essay as much as subject grades, because the application calendar arrives earlier.

Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina

Internationally mobile households. Plans are built to survive travel, so sessions are booked as a recurring weekly slot that can run from anywhere rather than as a fixed in-person arrangement.

Al Barsha and Dubai Science Park

Dense Diploma provision with several schools within a short radius. Families here frequently compare notes across schools and find that internal deadlines and mock scopes differ sharply.

Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

Students often arrive in the Diploma from IGCSE, so the first DP1 year is spent learning criterion-referenced marking. A 45 plan from this starting point usually begins with assessment technique.

Arabian Ranches and Mudon

Villa communities with long school runs. Weekend sessions are more common here than weekday evenings, and two 90-minute weekend blocks is the pattern that survives a DP2 timetable.

Downtown and Dubai Creek Harbour

Short commutes make weekday evening sessions workable. Requests here are often for a single Higher Level subject at the boundary rather than a full multi-subject plan.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

A growing Diploma population with students travelling to schools across the city. Scheduling has to allow for arriving home late, so sessions tend to sit after 6pm Gulf time.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject list, levels and recent marks

Six subjects with Higher and Standard Levels, the latest assessed marks and what each was marked against. That is enough for us to say which subjects a finite budget should go to first and whether the target is realistic from here.

  2. 02

Cost the whole Diploma, not the first month

We work out what the plan costs across the remaining months at market specialist rates before it starts. Plans that collapse mid-year are almost always plans that were never costed end to end, and they restart later at a higher price.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

One live session with no condition beyond finding a time. The student works at the boundary on real material and judges the teaching. On a two-year commitment the match matters more than on a short block, so we test it properly.

  4. 04

    Schedule the core components early

The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge carry the three points a 45 requires and are the cheapest to protect. They get dates in the plan in DP1, rather than attention in DP2 when everything else is already competing.

  5. 05

    Review monthly against marked work

Each month the plan is checked against marked evidence. Subjects come off the plan when the boundary losses have gone, which is how the total cost stays bounded rather than growing by default.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Costed by the month, with sources

The AED bands here are other providers' published Dubai rates with the month they were read, shown as monthly figures because that is how a two-year plan is actually paid for. Most pages ranking for these queries publish no price at all.

Boundary work, not general revision

Sessions target the specific places the last marks go: the final parts of long questions, the precision a mark scheme names, the judgement sentence. That is a narrower and shorter activity than revising a syllabus.

Core points scheduled, not assumed

Three of the 45 points come from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. They are the cheapest points on the plan and the ones families most often leave to chance, so they get dates rather than hopes.

No guarantees, and no unsourced statistics

Nobody can guarantee a 45 or a 7. We publish no results claims without a sample, date and method, which rules out most of the figures circulating in this market, including the self-asserted star ratings.

We say when to stop buying hours

Once the predictable losses are gone, the marginal hour buys very little. We tell families that at the monthly review rather than letting a plan run on, and we say which subject to drop first.

No claimed approvals

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry or IB endorsement and claims none. Every regulator mentioned here is explained with a link to its own pages so that anything on this page can be checked.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What exactly does a score of 45 require?+

Grade 7 in all six subjects, which gives 42 points, plus the full three points from the combination of Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. There is no spare capacity: one grade 6 caps the total at 44, and a 6 with only two core points caps it at 43. That structure is why top-band coaching is different from grade improvement. The work is not about lifting a weak subject; it is about ensuring that no subject becomes the one that slips, and about treating the core as three points rather than as paperwork.

What does a two-year 45 plan cost in Dubai?+

Costed monthly, which is how families actually pay for it. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for weekly one-hour sessions are AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Market monthly packages include around AED 799 for eight online sessions. Two Higher Level subjects weekly at the specialist band therefore sits at the top of those ranges and compounds across 24 months. Those are other providers' published figures read in October 2026, not our price list.

Can anyone guarantee my child a 45 or a grade 7?+

No. Grade boundaries are set after each session and move with paper difficulty, the IB publishes no advance boundary, and examination performance varies on the day for reasons no tutor controls. Any guarantee in this market is either a conditional refund scheme or a claim that cannot be honoured, and we offer neither. What coaching can do is remove predictable losses: command-term errors, unshown method, unread Internal Assessment criteria, an uninterrogated Extended Essay question, timing collapse on a paper never sat in full. The remainder is the examination itself.

Is it cheaper to start a top-band plan in DP1 or DP2?+

DP1, substantially, and it also works better. An hour spent while content is still being taught prevents a repair bought at the specialist rate eighteen months later, and Dubai specialist availability is loosest in DP1 before every school's mock lands in the same fortnight. The best-value plans we see start with one subject and one weekly hour in DP1, add a second in DP2, and finish with boundary work in the spring. The most expensive plans start in January of DP2 with three subjects at once, and they rarely survive the term.

Which single Diploma subject usually needs the most hours for a 7?+

Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, consistently. The grade is decided in the final parts of long questions and in proof, where routine technique runs out and the question asks for structure, and that capability is built across a year rather than a term. Higher Level Physics and Chemistry are next, with the content volume making late repair expensive. Humanities subjects move faster at the boundary, because evaluation structure and diagram accuracy are learnable in weeks, which is why a finite budget usually goes to Mathematics first.

How do the three core points actually work?+

They come from a published IB matrix combining the Theory of Knowledge grade with the Extended Essay grade, and your school's Diploma coordinator holds that matrix and will show it to you. The combination awards up to three points on top of a maximum 42 subject points, giving the total of 45. For a top-band candidate the core is non-optional, and it is also the most tractable part of the Diploma: criteria are published, deadlines are internal and knowable, and the work is slow enough that feedback can be absorbed and acted on.

Where should a limited tutoring budget go first?+

Core components, then the Higher Level subject most likely to slip, then a second Higher Level, then anything else. The reasoning is cost per point: three core points are protected by a handful of sessions, while moving a Higher Level science grade takes sustained work. The pattern to avoid is spreading a fixed budget thinly across all six subjects, which reliably produces no visible change anywhere. That is also the pattern an anxious January produces by default, which is why costing the plan in advance matters.

My child is averaging 5s. Is 45 realistic?+

Probably not, and we will say so rather than relabel the work. A student averaging 5s can improve a great deal, and a well-built two-year plan might target the high thirties, which opens most university doors. Calling that a 45 plan sets a family up to be disappointed by genuine progress, which is a sales habit rather than a teaching one. We would rather describe the realistic target from the current evidence, name which subjects move fastest, and let you decide whether the plan is worth buying on those terms.

Do you work on Internal Assessments for top-band students?+

Yes, within the boundary the IB sets, and it is among the highest-value work on a 45 plan. Every Internal Assessment is marked against published criteria the student can read, and the top bands are specific about what they require. A tutor can explain those criteria, question the research question and method, and give feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor cannot write, rewrite or edit it to completion. Bought coursework risks a malpractice finding against the whole Diploma, which for a 45 candidate is the worst possible trade.

How many hours a week can a DP2 student realistically absorb?+

Two to three hours of tutoring plus the marked practice between sessions is the usual ceiling, and often less during the mock fortnight or an Internal Assessment deadline week. Dubai DP2 students also carry the KHDA mandatory subjects on their timetable throughout, which does not pause for exam season. Plans that assume more time than that are abandoned rather than completed. We build in deliberate pauses, because families who schedule the pauses keep the plan while families who improvise them tend to drop it and restart late.

Do you provide in-home coaching in Dubai for this?+

No. IB Gram delivers all UAE tutoring one-to-one over live video, and home visits are a service we offer only in India. On a two-year plan the arithmetic is unusually clear: in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 an hour carry travel inside them, and across sixty or seventy sessions that is a large sum spent moving a person around Dubai. Online, the specialist pool is the whole pool rather than the drivable subset, and annotated marked work is saved session by session, which becomes its own revision archive by the May session.

How does a tutor know where the last two marks are?+

From published assessment criteria and from marked scripts, read together. The pattern at the top of the range is consistent: in sciences it is precision, meaning uncertainty treatment, named variables and mechanisms rather than correlations; in Mathematics it is the final parts of long questions; in humanities it is reaching a defensible judgement rather than presenting both sides. A tutor who can point to the specific sentence that would have earned the mark is doing the job. One who talks about general exam confidence is not, at this level.

When is the right time to stop paying for sessions?+

When the predictable losses are gone. If a student handles the boundary question types cleanly, has read the criteria for every Internal Assessment, and completes full papers under time with marks in hand, the marginal hour buys very little. We raise that at the monthly review rather than letting a plan run on, because a plan with nothing left to fix is just a standing order. Knowing where not to spend is a real part of the value on a two-year commitment, and most providers have no incentive to tell you.

Does school fee pressure in Dubai affect what families spend on tutoring?+

It shapes the decision more than most pages admit. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. School fees are therefore flat while tutoring is not, and families aiming at the top of the Diploma range often find the tutoring line grows faster than the fee line through DP2. That is the argument for costing the full plan before starting rather than approving it month by month.

Should we use a tuition centre class alongside one-to-one sessions?+

For a top-band candidate, rarely. Group classes are taught to the middle of the group, which is exactly where a student aiming at a 7 is not. They can be useful for broad coverage if a student has genuine content gaps across a subject, and they are cheaper per hour. But the work that moves a 6 to a 7 is individual by nature: it depends on the particular marks that particular student keeps losing, which no class of fifteen can address. If the budget is finite, fewer individual hours beat more group hours here.

Cost the plan, then build it

A 45 is six 7s and three core points with nothing spare, and it is bought by the month rather than the hour. Send the subject list with levels, the latest marks and the year your child is in, and we will tell you what a realistic plan costs at market specialist rates, which subjects a finite budget should reach first, and whether the target matches the evidence. If it does not, we will say what does. The trial lesson is free, one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with no condition beyond finding an hour that works.
