IB MYP Home Tutor in Dubai

Parents searching for an IB MYP home tutor in Dubai are nearly always asking a price question, so this page answers it in dirhams first. Published Dubai market rates for an in-home one-to-one visit run from about AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel folded in, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. IB Gram delivers one-to-one lessons over live video and does not send tutors to UAE addresses, and the rate tables below show what that difference is worth.

  • Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or survey that published it
  • Travel time is not billed, because no tutor travels to a UAE address
  • Free first lesson, with a written diagnosis rather than a sales call
  • Same tutor through the course, re-timed for Ramadan rather than paused

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price question, answered in dirhams before anything else

Three of the six most visible tutoring sites serving Dubai publish no price at all. Two quote in US dollars. One contradicts its own figures between two pages. That is why a parent searching for an IB MYP home tutor in Dubai ends up on a form rather than on an answer, and it is why this page opens with numbers and their sources instead of with a description of our teaching philosophy.

The published market picture for Dubai in 2026 looks like this. Budget and university-student tutoring works out at roughly AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Qualified subject tutors working online sit at AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors publishing International GCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one visits, travel included, run from AED 180 to AED 500, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai cost table putting the band at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Specialist IB and IGCSE teaching sits at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270, and premium named tutors reach AED 650, as BartyED publishes.

Those are market rates. They are not an IB Gram price list, and nobody should present a competitor's number as their own. What they establish is the shape of the market: the online and in-home bands overlap at the bottom and separate sharply at the top, and the gap between them is almost entirely the cost of a car.

Middle Years work sits lower in those bands than Diploma work, and it is worth understanding why rather than just enjoying it. There is no external examination in most years of the programme, no Higher Level content ceiling, and no internally assessed component carrying a published mark allocation in the way a Diploma internal assessment does. The teaching is about criterion writing, investigation design and process documentation, which a strong subject teacher can do without the examiner-level specialism that prices the top band.

The second half of the price question is what changes the number, and in Dubai the variables are specific. Year group, standard versus extended mathematics, whether the school runs the programme to Year 11 or switches to International GCSE, whether Arabic is a first or additional language stream, whether a Personal Project is in progress, how far a tutor would have to drive, and whether the slot sits in the peak 16:00 to 19:00 window that every family in the city wants. Each of those moves the rate, some by a little and one of them by a great deal.

This page works through all of it: the provider models compared with sources and dates, what travel really costs, the seven variables that move the rate, tutoring set against Dubai school fees and the 2026-27 fee freeze, how monthly packages actually arithmetic out, the permit question, and where families reliably waste money. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and every UAE lesson is one to one over live video.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Spend across the five programme years is not flat. These are the four phases where families actually open their wallets, with what the money typically buys in each.

MYP1-3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Middle Years 1 to 3 - the cheap window

The lowest-cost phase to buy support in, because there is no external assessment and the work is skill-building rather than examination preparation. A qualified subject tutor in the AED 150 to 300 published band is the right tier here, and a short block of six to eight sessions on one criterion is usually a complete intervention rather than the start of an open-ended commitment.

Dubai families overwhelmingly skip this phase and buy later at a higher rate. The arithmetic argues the other way: six sessions at the mid band costs less than a term of examination-year remediation, and the criteria being built here are the ones every later mark depends on. Spend early and small, not late and large.

MYP4-5Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Middle Years 4 and 5 - where the rate rises

Content depth increases, mathematics splits into standard and extended, sciences may separate into three subjects, and all four criteria are reported. Families typically move up a tier here, from the AED 150 to 300 band towards the AED 200 to 450 specialist band, and often buy two subjects rather than one. This is where an annual tuition budget is really set.

The Dubai complication is the fork at sixteen. If the school switches the cohort to Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel International GCSE for Years 10 and 11, you are no longer buying criterion teaching at all; you are buying timed past-paper technique, which is priced differently and needs a different tutor. Confirm the route in writing before committing to a year.

PPAge 15-16 · Final programme year

Personal Project support - a block, not a subscription

Marked against three criteria - planning, applying skills and reflecting - each out of eight for a total of 24, and externally moderated. The honest commercial shape of this is a fortnightly block across the year rather than a weekly slot: perhaps twelve to sixteen sessions spread from the start of the project to submission, concentrated at the planning and reflection stages.

The expensive mistake in Dubai is buying nothing until six weeks before submission and then buying a lot. Two of the three criteria are about process evidence recorded as it happened, which cannot be bought late at any price. A fortnightly slot from the start costs less in total and scores better.

BRIDGEAge 15-16 · Summer and first term

The bridge into DP1 or International GCSE

A defined block over the summer and the first term of the new course, usually eight to twelve sessions in one or two subjects. The cost here is predictable because the scope is: closing the gap between what the programme assessed and what the next course assesses, which is a known list rather than an open-ended tutoring relationship.

Dubai families who buy this block typically spend less across the following two years than those who do not, because the first-term grade shock is what triggers panic buying at the specialist rate. The block is cheaper than the panic, and the summer rate is not inflated by the peak-slot premium that applies in term time.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rate varies by subject as well as by level, and the reason is always supply. These are the subject streams Dubai families buy for Middle Years students, with what each one does to the price.

Mathematics, standard route

MYP 1-5

The most available subject in the city and therefore the one that prices at the bottom of the qualified-tutor band. Plenty of good teachers, high competition, and a criterion profile that is easy to diagnose from a single marked task.

Mathematics, extended route

MYP 4-5

Prices slightly above the standard route, because the investigation tasks carry less scaffolding and the tutor needs to be comfortable teaching pattern generalisation and justification rather than procedure. Still well inside the qualified-tutor band rather than the specialist one.

Integrated Sciences

MYP 1-3

Broad content across biology, chemistry and physics with the criterion load concentrated on investigation design and data processing. Widely available in Dubai, so it prices at the middle of the band and a short block usually suffices.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate subjects

MYP 4-5

Once the sciences separate, a family is buying a subject specialist rather than a science teacher, and the rate rises accordingly. Buying all three at once is the single largest avoidable line on a Dubai tuition budget; one at a time, chosen by criterion profile, costs far less.

English Language and Literature

MYP 1-5

Prices in the middle of the band with good availability. The work is analysing and producing text rather than content coverage, so sessions tend to be longer and fewer, which changes the monthly figure more than the hourly one.

Language Acquisition: French and Spanish

MYP 1-5, phases 1-6

Availability in Dubai is reasonable and the rate sits mid-band, but phase placement is worth checking before paying anything. A student placed a phase too high looks weak when the real issue is placement, and that is a conversation with the school rather than a purchase.

Arabic as an Additional Language

MYP 1-5

High demand across Dubai and mid-band pricing. A tutor works from the school's own material, because for the mandatory UAE subjects the use of different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited, which narrows the pool of tutors willing to work that way.

Arabic as a First Language

MYP 1-5

Prices towards the specialist band purely on scarcity. Standard Arabic grammar and literary analysis at first-language standard is a genuinely thin supply line in Dubai, and the rate reflects competition for a small group of qualified teachers.

Individuals and Societies

MYP 1-5

Mid-band, with the entire price justification sitting in one criterion: thinking critically. Source evaluation by origin, purpose and limitation is the lowest-scoring strand in this subject group almost everywhere, and it is a defined teaching job.

Design

MYP 1-5

Fewer tutors in Dubai are comfortable teaching the design cycle as an assessment rather than as a project, so availability is thinner and the rate drifts upward. Three of the four criteria live in the documentation, which is where the teaching value is.

Islamic Education and UAE Social Studies

MYP 1-5

Mandatory alongside the international programme in Dubai private schools. Teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic are required to hold the appropriate approval from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority to teach those subjects, which is a credential worth asking about and which affects what support is available.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy, with the arithmetic of each stated rather than implied. All of them are one student with one tutor over live video.

Pay per session, sixty minutes

The default and the cheapest way to test whether tutoring is worth buying at all. One lesson a week, no commitment beyond the next session, and no discount. For Middle Years 1 to 3 work on a single criterion, six to eight of these is usually a complete intervention rather than an open-ended arrangement.

  • No minimum term and no package to unwind if the match is wrong
  • Best unit for maintenance and for younger students
  • Easiest to compare against published market rates per hour
  • Written note after each session, so you can see what you bought

Ninety-minute sessions, fewer of them

The right unit for extended writing, for a Design or Arts process folder, for marking a full task together, and for any week with a draft in progress. Two sixty-minute lessons cost more than one ninety-minute lesson and are the better buy during a catch-up block; the reverse is true in a steady term.

  • Lower total monthly cost than two weekly sessions at the same tier
  • Enough time for a timed task plus the marking conversation afterwards
  • Usually scheduled on Friday afternoon in Dubai, after the early finish
  • Suits Personal Project process work better than a sixty-minute slot

Fortnightly block for a defined piece of work

For the Personal Project, for the bridge into the Diploma or International GCSE, or for a single criterion that needs rehearsal rather than weekly teaching. The scope is fixed in advance, so the cost is predictable and the arrangement ends when the work does.

  • Session count agreed up front against named milestones
  • Spread across the project rather than concentrated before submission
  • Cheaper in total than weekly teaching for the same outcome
  • Clear end point, with no rolling commitment afterwards

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What an IB MYP home tutor in Dubai costs, and what we actually sell

The direct answer, in dirhams. Published Dubai market rates put an in-home one-to-one hourly visit at AED 180 to AED 500 with travel included, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online and AED 200 to AED 450 and above for an IB or IGCSE specialist. Monthly packages seen in this market run at AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Those figures come from published competitor pages and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai tutoring cost table, not from us.

The honest second half of that answer: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai. There is no tutor who will arrive at a villa in Arabian Ranches or an apartment in Jumeirah Village Circle, and no UAE office or centre either. Home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Every UAE lesson is one student with one tutor over live video, and we state that before a parent spends anything rather than after.

We still target the phrase, because it is the phrase Dubai parents type, and because the price comparison is the most useful thing anybody can give them. A family weighing AED 250 an hour for someone to drive to Town Square against AED 220 an hour for a subject specialist on screen is making a real decision, and the decision deserves actual numbers rather than a form.

What the premium buys is worth saying precisely. It buys presence in the room, which genuinely helps some younger students and some students with specific additional needs. It does not buy better subject knowledge, a wider choice of tutor, or more teaching minutes, and in the peak 17:00 to 19:00 window in Dubai it buys a meaningfully higher chance of a late or cancelled lesson. The tables below set that out line by line.

02

The Dubai market compared by provider model, with sources

Every competitor comparison table in this market measures itself against an unnamed straw man called other platforms. A useful version compares provider models instead, names what each one actually does, and quotes a rate only where the provider published it, with the source attached. That is what the table below does.

The pattern it reveals is consistent. Tuition centres and group classes are the cheapest per student and the least targeted, because a class of six cannot be taught to one child's criterion profile. Independent freelance tutors found through community groups are cheap and entirely unverified, including on the permit question. Agencies and platforms sit in the middle on price and vary enormously on whether they will replace a tutor who is not working. Premium named tutors reach AED 650 an hour and are worth it for a narrow set of final-year Diploma situations and almost never for Middle Years work.

The column most parents ignore and should not is the replacement policy. The largest wasted spend in Dubai tutoring is not a high hourly rate; it is six weeks of lessons with a tutor who was never the right match, paid in full because there was no mechanism to change. A provider that will swap the tutor on request after a bad first fortnight is worth more than one charging AED 40 an hour less.

One note on comparison honesty. Rates below are quoted with the provider and the date of the published figure, and no claim is made about anybody's quality or legality. Competitor pricing moves, and a figure published in 2026 should be checked against the provider's live page before a family relies on it.

03

What the travel actually costs, line by line

The in-home premium is not a quality premium. It is a transport cost, and in Dubai between 16:00 and 19:00 it is a large one. A tutor travelling from the Jumeirah or Al Barsha tutor belt to Arabian Ranches, Town Square or Damac Hills at that hour is committing ninety minutes to two hours of unpaid driving around a sixty-minute lesson, and no rational pricing survives that without a premium.

That arithmetic drives three consequences a parent feels directly. The first is the rate itself, AED 180 to 500 against AED 150 to 300 online. The second is minimum session length: many visiting tutors will not take a sixty-minute booking at all, which converts a modest weekly spend into a bigger one. The third is reliability, because a lesson that depends on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road at 17:30 fails more often than one that depends on a wifi connection.

There is a fourth cost that never appears on an invoice: the size of the pool. A car-based model means your choice of tutor is limited to people willing to drive to your community at your preferred hour. For standard-route mathematics in Al Barsha that is a long list. For Arabic as a first language in Town Square, or Design in Remraam, it is a very short one, and a short list means accepting a generalist.

None of this makes in-home teaching worthless. For a nine-year-old, or a student who genuinely cannot hold attention on a screen, presence in the room is the service being bought and it is a reasonable thing to pay for. For a fourteen-year-old working on criterion C in Individuals and Societies, it is a premium for a car journey, and the table below is the comparison we would want to read before paying it.

The seven things that change the number in Dubai

Hourly rate is not one number. It moves with a short list of variables, and knowing which ones apply to your child lets you predict a quote before you ask for it. Several of these are specific to Dubai rather than general to tutoring.

The largest single variable is scarcity of the subject stream. Standard-route mathematics prices at the bottom of the qualified-tutor band because Dubai has many people who can teach it well. Arabic as a first language prices towards the specialist band because it does not. Design sits awkwardly in between, because plenty of people can teach design and few are comfortable teaching the design cycle as an assessment with four criteria attached.

The second largest is slot timing. Every family in Dubai wants 17:00 to 19:00 on a weekday, and that window is finite. Friday afternoon after the early school finish, weekend mornings and the 15:00 to 16:30 band for communities with short school runs are all less contested. A family willing to take an off-peak slot has more choice of tutor at the same rate, which in practice means a better match rather than a cheaper one.

The remaining variables are year group, route, assessment load, session length and term timing. Middle Years 4 and 5 prices above 1 to 3. A school that has switched to International GCSE changes what you are buying entirely. A Personal Project in progress adds a block rather than an hourly premium. Ninety minutes costs less per minute than sixty. And the weeks before a reporting cycle are when demand peaks, which is the worst moment to start looking and the most common one.

05

Tutoring cost in context: Dubai fees and the 2026-27 freeze

A tuition figure means nothing without the budget it sits inside. Dubai school fees are the dominant line in any family's education spend, and in 2026 the authority did something unusual with them, which is useful context for anyone deciding whether to add weekly tutoring.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family whose fee bill was expected to rise, that is headroom that did not exist a year earlier, and in practice it is where a good deal of new tutoring spend has come from.

The market around it keeps growing. The authority reported seven new private schools for the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, following six openings during 2025-26 and a 6% rise in enrolment. More supply tends to moderate fee pressure and to widen the continuum choice, which matters for families currently at a school that switches to International GCSE at sixteen.

The table below sets tutoring against the other things on an education invoice. The point of it is proportion: one weekly session at the qualified-subject band is a modest fraction of an annual fee bill, while three subjects twice a week at the specialist band is not, and families routinely drift from the first into the second without ever deciding to.

06

Monthly packages and the arithmetic nobody shows you

Packages look like discounts and frequently are not. The published online package in this market is AED 799 a month for eight sessions, which works out at just under AED 100 a session. The published in-home package is AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour visits, which is AED 400 to AED 450 a visit or AED 200 to AED 225 an hour. Both are inside their respective market bands, so neither is a bargain; they are a different billing shape.

What a package genuinely buys is commitment on both sides, and that has real value. A tutor with eight sessions booked plans a sequence rather than reacting week to week, and a family that has paid attends. What it also buys, less helpfully, is friction if the match turns out to be wrong, which is why the replacement policy matters more in a package than in pay-as-you-go.

The arithmetic that actually reduces spend is different. Fewer, longer sessions cost less in total than more, shorter ones at the same tier, because setup and marking time is spread further. One subject chosen by criterion profile costs a third of three subjects bought because a report card looked bad across the board. And a fortnightly block with a defined end point costs a fraction of an open-ended weekly arrangement that nobody ever cancels.

One honesty point on the word free. A free first lesson should mean a full lesson at no cost, with no card details required and no obligation to continue. If a trial is fifteen minutes, or requires payment details, or is really a sales call with a tutor present, the condition belongs on the same screen as the word. Ours is a full lesson, it ends with a written note on what the gap is, and nothing is charged if you stop there.

07

The permit question: why a legal tutor is not the cheapest tutor

  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid for two years
  • No published fine schedule exists, so no figure should be quoted to you
  • A permit does not explain a higher rate, because it costs nothing
  • No tutoring service in Dubai is accredited by KHDA, the Ministry or the IB
  • A teacher may not be paid privately to tutor students from their own school

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated, and the cheapest quotes in a Dubai community group often come from people who are not covered. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from the ministry are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount appears here, and anyone quoting one should be asked for their source.

The permit itself is not an obstacle. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. The ministry's own service is listed as issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing, with no fees stated and a two working day completion time, applied for through the ministry's smart app, website and e-services system.

So the permit does not cost money, which means it does not explain a price difference. What it does signal is seriousness, and it carries a code of conduct. That code, together with the professional-ethics rules reported for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff, bars a teacher from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. We do not arrange for a child to be taught privately for a fee by a teacher at their own school, anywhere in the country.

Two further things no parent should pay for. A service that describes itself as approved, accredited or licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Ministry of Education or the International Baccalaureate, because a Dubai educational services permit is a specific thing issued to training institutes with premises and IB Gram does not hold one and does not claim one. And a service that offers to produce assessed work: one site visible in this market sells completed internal assessments, which under IB rules is malpractice with the consequence falling on the student.

08

Where Dubai families actually waste tutoring money

  • Buying three tutors when the criterion profile names one shared weakness
  • Paying for six weeks with a match that should have been changed after two
  • Specialist examination-year rates for Year 8 skill-building work
  • Starting the search in the fortnight when every tutor is already booked
  • Packages bought before a first lesson has established the match works

After a few hundred Dubai enquiries the waste is predictable, and almost none of it is about the hourly rate. The largest single loss is buying hours before buying a diagnosis. A report card showing 4s across six subjects produces an instinct to hire three tutors, when the criterion profile usually shows one shared weakness, typically communication or application, which one tutor can address in one subject and the student then transfers.

The second loss is persisting with a match that is not working because there is no mechanism to change it. Six weeks at AED 220 an hour with the wrong tutor is AED 1,320 that bought nothing, and it happens because the parent feels the problem is their child rather than the pairing. Any provider should change the tutor on request after a bad fortnight; if yours will not, that is the thing to fix, not the rate.

The third is buying examination-year intensity for Middle Years work. There is no external examination in most years of this programme, so paying premium specialist rates for weekly teaching in Year 8 is spending Diploma money on a skill-building job. The corollary is that families underspend in the years where it would be cheap and overspend in the year where it is not.

The fourth is timing. Starting six weeks before a reporting cycle, when every tutor in the city is fully booked, means accepting whoever is free at whatever rate and in whatever slot. Starting in the first weeks of a term means choice. The same money buys a materially better tutor in September than it does in March, and that is the cheapest optimisation available to a Dubai parent.

09

How lessons are delivered, and what we will not claim

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, and there is no UAE office or centre to visit. Home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Every UAE lesson is one student with one tutor over live video, and that is stated here rather than discovered on a phone call, because a parent who searched for a visiting tutor deserves the answer before they spend time.

A lesson works like this. The student joins from a laptop or tablet, the tutor shares a whiteboard, and the student's own unit sheet, task instructions, marked work or draft sits on screen. Written work is photographed, uploaded, marked against the published criterion descriptors and returned annotated before the next session, which removes the week of feedback lag a visiting model has by design. For Design and the Arts the tutor works through the process folder, which is where most of the available criterion marks live.

The limits are stated too. A practical build, a laboratory procedure or a physical performance cannot be coached over video, although the written planning, documentation and reflection criteria attached to them can. Younger students need an adult within earshot for the first few weeks. A student who will not turn a camera on learns less than one who will, because a tutor who cannot see the working cannot correct it.

On claims: IB Gram is not approved, accredited or licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Ministry of Education or the International Baccalaureate, and we name those bodies only to explain what they do. We publish no satisfaction percentage, no star rating and no student headcount, because none of them could be produced with a sample size, a date and a method attached. On whether a quoted price includes value added tax, ask us about our own figures and check the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance for the treatment of tuition fees rather than relying on a tutoring page for a tax position.

Where we tutor

Dubai communities and what the drive would have cost

The in-home premium is a travel premium, and travel in Dubai is not evenly distributed. These are the communities where families most often ask us about home visits, with what a car-based lesson would really have involved from each.

Arabian Ranches

Spread-out villa community off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. A tutor coming from Jumeirah or Al Barsha at 17:00 is in traffic for forty minutes each way, and that hour and twenty minutes is in the rate whether the invoice names it or not.

The Springs and The Meadows

Interlinked villa communities with a single congested approach at peak. Short distances on a map and long journeys in practice, which is why in-home quotes to this area cluster at the upper end of the published band.

Jumeirah Village Circle

Dense apartment and townhouse community with notoriously slow internal circulation. Parking and finding the right building adds time on top of the drive, and tutors routinely price a minimum session length to make the trip viable.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Mid-city communities with reasonable access but heavy school-run congestion between 14:00 and 16:00. The 17:00 and 18:00 slots are the ones families want and the ones that cost most in any travel-based model.

Town Square and Mudon

Newer developments towards the southern edge of the city, where the distance from the established tutor base is real. In-home quotes here are the highest we hear about, and the gap against an online rate is at its widest.

Damac Hills and Dubailand

Villa communities set back from the main arteries, with long internal roads. A sixty-minute lesson here can mean a two-hour commitment for the tutor, which is why ninety-minute minimums are common in car-based quotes.

Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens

Well connected by road and metro but a long way from the northern school belt. Families here are often the first to do the arithmetic and conclude that the travel premium buys nothing academic.

The Sustainable City and Remraam

Southern communities where the local tutor pool is genuinely small. The choice is rarely between a good local visit and a good online lesson; it is between a long drive at a premium and a specialist on screen.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Arabian Ranches, Motor City and Al Khail

Continuum and British-curriculum campuses serving the central villa belt. Families here most often ask about in-home visits, and are the ones for whom the travel arithmetic is most lopsided given the peak-hour approach roads.

  • GEMS International School - Al Khail
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Victory Heights Primary School

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Dense, fast-growing communities with newer campuses and a young year-group profile, so Middle Years 1 to 3 requests dominate. Short distances and slow internal roads make the travel premium hard to justify here.

  • JSS International School
  • Arcadia Global School
  • The Arbor School
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Dubailand, Town Square and The Sustainable City

The southern expansion, where the distance from the established tutor base is largest and online delivery changes the available choice rather than only the price. Several continuum campuses sit in this belt.

  • Fairgreen International School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • Dunecrest American School

Schools appear here only as context for Dubai's education map; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school, group or authority named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which subject and which year group, not just the grade

A quote depends on the subject stream, the year group and whether the school runs the programme to Year 11 or switches to International GCSE. Send the last report with its criterion marks and we can tell you which tier of tutor the work actually needs, which is often lower than a parent expects.

  2. 02

Take the free first lesson before paying anything

A full lesson at no cost, with no card details required and no obligation to continue. It ends with a short written note naming the criterion that is costing marks. If you stop there, nothing is charged. That is the condition stated on the same page as the word free, which is how it should be.

  3. 03

Buy a diagnosis before buying hours

The single biggest waste in Dubai tutoring is hiring three tutors because six grades looked low. A criterion profile usually names one shared weakness, and fixing it in one subject transfers to the others. One session of reading the evidence saves several weeks of unnecessary spend.

  4. 04

    Choose the session shape deliberately

Ninety minutes once a week costs less in total than two sixty-minute sessions at the same tier and suits extended writing and project work better. Sixty minutes suits maintenance and younger students. A fortnightly block with a fixed session count suits the Personal Project and the bridge into the next course.

  5. 05

Change the tutor rather than persisting

If the pairing is not working after a fortnight, say so and we change it. Six weeks of lessons with the wrong tutor is the most expensive thing in this market and it is entirely avoidable. Progress is reviewed against criterion marks at the next reporting cycle, not against a vague sense of improvement.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

No travel time in the price

The gap between the AED 180 to 500 in-home band and the AED 150 to 300 online band is mostly a car. We do not bill travel because no tutor travels, and that is the whole of the cost argument stated plainly rather than dressed up as a benefit.

Every figure carries its source

Each AED band on this page is attributed to the provider or survey that published it, with the tier it applies to. Three of the six most visible sites serving Dubai publish no price at all and two quote in dollars, which is why a sourced table is worth more here than another contact form.

The tier is matched to the work, not to the invoice

Middle Years work usually needs a qualified subject tutor rather than an examiner-experienced specialist, because there is no external examination in most years of the programme. We say so even though the lower tier bills less, since the alternative is selling Diploma pricing for a skill-building job.

A free trial with the condition stated

A full first lesson, no card details, no obligation, and a written diagnosis at the end. If a trial anywhere requires payment details or lasts fifteen minutes, the condition belongs next to the word free. Ours is on the same screen as the offer.

The tutor can be changed on request

The largest avoidable loss in Dubai tutoring is weeks paid to a match that should have ended after a fortnight. Changing the tutor is a request, not a negotiation, and it costs nothing. A replacement policy is worth more than AED 40 an hour off the rate.

No claimed approvals, no invented statistics

IB Gram holds no accreditation from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Ministry of Education or the International Baccalaureate and claims none. No satisfaction percentage, star rating or student headcount appears anywhere on this page, because none could be published with a method and a date behind it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does a visiting tutor in Dubai charge once the driving is in the price?+

Published market figures put an in-home one-to-one hourly visit at AED 180 to AED 500, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages in this market run AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour visits, which is AED 200 to 225 an hour. Against that, a qualified subject tutor working online publishes at AED 150 to AED 300. The gap is mostly transport, and in the 17:00 to 19:00 Dubai peak it is a large transport cost.

If you never visit homes, why does this page target the phrase at all?+

Because it is the phrase Dubai parents actually type, and because the price comparison is the most useful thing anyone can give them. Pretending the search does not exist would just mean a parent finds a page that quotes nothing. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai; home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and every UAE lesson is one to one over live video. We would rather say that in the first paragraph, with the rate tables next to it, than let someone find out on a call.

For Middle Years work, is one ninety-minute lesson better value than two sixty-minute ones?+

On cost, yes, at the same tier, because fixed setup and marking time is spread further. On teaching, it depends on the job. Ninety minutes is the right unit for extended writing, a Design or Arts process folder, marking a full task together, or any week with a draft in progress. Two shorter sessions are the better buy during a catch-up block, when frequency matters more than depth. For a steady term with one criterion to move, one ninety-minute slot on a Friday afternoon usually wins on both counts.

Does the rate go up between Year 7 and Year 11?+

Yes, by roughly one tier. Years 7 to 9 sit comfortably in the AED 150 to 300 qualified-subject band, because there is no external assessment and the work is skill-building. Years 10 and 11 drift towards the AED 200 to 450 specialist band, because content deepens, mathematics splits into standard and extended routes, sciences may separate into three subjects and all four criteria are reported in every subject. The practical implication is to spend early and small rather than late and large, since the early criteria are what every later mark depends on.

How much of a Dubai tutoring invoice is really the drive?+

On a car-based model, a lot. A tutor travelling from the Jumeirah or Al Barsha belt to Arabian Ranches, Town Square or Damac Hills at 17:00 is committing ninety minutes to two hours of unpaid driving around one hour of teaching, and that is why many visiting tutors will not take a sixty-minute booking. The hidden cost is the tutor pool: your choice narrows to people willing to make that trip at that hour, which for a thin subject like Arabic as a first language means accepting a generalist.

Did the Dubai school fee freeze change what families spend on tuition?+

Anecdotally yes, and the dates line up. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For families who had budgeted for a rise, that is headroom that did not exist previously, and a good deal of new weekly tutoring spend appears to have come from it rather than from a change in academic need.

Is a group class at a Dubai tuition centre cheaper than one-to-one online?+

Per hour, usually, at roughly AED 60 to 150 a student depending on the centre. Per outcome, often not, and the reason is structural rather than about teaching quality. A class of six cannot be taught to one child's criterion profile, and criterion profiles are exactly what Middle Years marks depend on: a student losing marks on communication and a student losing marks on content need opposite lessons. A group class also means you travel to the centre, so the transport cost moves to you rather than disappearing.

Do Dubai tutoring rates rise before reporting deadlines?+

Availability tightens more than price does, which has the same practical effect. Demand peaks in the weeks right after reports go out, and that is precisely when most families start looking, so the choice narrows to whoever is still free at whatever hour is left. The same budget buys a materially better match in the first weeks of a term than in the fortnight after a report card. Starting early is the cheapest optimisation available to a Dubai parent and it costs nothing at all.

Does a quoted tutoring price in Dubai include value added tax?+

Ask the provider directly about their own figures, and check the Federal Tax Authority's published guidance for the treatment of tuition fees rather than relying on a tutoring page for a tax position. Competitor pages quote rates without ever stating whether tax is included, which makes two quotes hard to compare. For our own numbers we will tell you what is and is not included before you pay, and we do not publish a tax interpretation we cannot cite to the authority that sets it.

Who absorbs the cost if the tutor turns out to be the wrong match?+

We change the tutor on request, and that is the single most valuable clause in any tutoring arrangement. The largest avoidable loss in this market is not a high hourly rate; it is six weeks at AED 220 an hour with a pairing that should have ended after a fortnight, which is AED 1,320 that bought nothing. Parents often persist because they assume the problem is their child rather than the pairing. Ask any provider you are considering what their replacement mechanism is before you buy a package.

Does a permitted tutor in Dubai charge more than an unpermitted one?+

The permit itself costs nothing, so it cannot explain a price difference. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, with no fees listed on the ministry's own service page and a two working day completion time. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and since no fine schedule is published, anyone quoting an amount should be asked for their source.

What does Personal Project support cost as a block rather than weekly?+

Twelve to sixteen sessions spread across the final year is the honest shape, concentrated at the planning and reflection stages rather than before submission. The project is marked against three criteria, each out of eight for a total of 24, and two of those three are about process evidence recorded as it happened. That evidence cannot be bought late at any price, which is why a fortnightly block from the start costs less in total than a panic block at the end and scores better.

Can we pay monthly rather than per session?+

Yes, though it is worth knowing that monthly packages in this market are a billing shape rather than a discount. The published online package is AED 799 for eight sessions, just under AED 100 each, which sits inside the normal band; the in-home equivalent at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits works out at AED 200 to 225 an hour. What a package genuinely buys is commitment on both sides, which has real value. What it also buys is friction if the match is wrong, so take the free first lesson first.

What is the cheapest honest way to lift one grade on a Middle Years report?+

Find the lowest criterion mark, read its descriptor, and buy teaching for that one thing. Four criteria at eight marks each gives a total out of 32, which converts to the 1 to 7 grade, and the bands are uneven. Moving a single 4 to a 6 often moves the grade; raising three criteria by one mark each costs three times the teaching and frequently does not. One session spent reading the evidence is worth more than a month of general revision bought at any rate.

How many hours a week does a Dubai Year 10 student realistically need?+

One session a week in one subject, for most students, which at the qualified-subject band works out at roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's 2026 figures. Two subjects at once is justified when the criterion profiles are genuinely different; three almost never is, because a flat low profile across six subjects usually means one shared weakness in communication or application. Families who buy three subjects in Year 10 are typically buying reassurance, and it is the most expensive form of it available.

Does living in Town Square rather than Al Barsha change what we pay?+

Not with us, because no tutor travels and there is no distance component in the price. In a car-based model it changes things considerably: the southern communities are furthest from the established tutor belt, in-home quotes there sit at the top of the AED 180 to 500 band, and minimum session lengths of ninety or 120 minutes are common to make the trip viable. The bigger effect is choice rather than cost, since the pool willing to drive to Town Square at 17:30 is short.

Tell us the subject, the year group and whether your school runs the programme to Year 11 or switches to International GCSE at sixteen, and we will tell you which tier of tutor the work actually needs and what that costs. Often it is a lower tier than a parent expects, because Middle Years teaching is not examination-year teaching. The first lesson is a full lesson, free, with no card details and no obligation, and it ends with a written note naming the criterion that is costing marks. Lessons are one to one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; no travel, and no travel in the price.
