IB DP Arabic B Tutor in Dubai

Hiring an IB DP Arabic B tutor in Dubai costs, on published market rates, somewhere between AED 150 and AED 450 an hour depending on level, component and how late you start. This page shows where those figures come from, which six variables move them, and what the same work costs if a tutor drives to you instead. Lessons from IB Gram are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and the first one is a free trial.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The question Dubai parents actually ask first, answered in AED

Three of the six most visible tutoring pages for this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars - a currency no UAE family transacts in. One of them asks the price question in its own list of frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it. That is the state of the market, and it is why this page leads with numbers rather than with an argument about quality.

On published figures, Arabic B tuition in Dubai runs from about AED 45 an hour at the bottom of the online market to AED 650 at the examiner-tier top. The band that matters for a Diploma candidate is narrower: roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour for a qualified subject tutor working online, and AED 200 to AED 450 and above for an IB specialist. In-home one-to-one in Dubai is published at AED 180 to AED 500, and the difference is travel, not teaching. Those are market rates gathered from providers' own pages and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table, not IB Gram's price list.

What a parent needs beyond the band is which variables move a quote, because that is where the money is actually decided. Level moves it: Arabic B HL carries two literary works that have to be prepared outside the session. Component moves it: individual oral rehearsal with playback takes more tutor time per hour of lesson than marking a written task. Lead time moves it most of all: the same eight sessions booked in September cost less per hour than booked in March, because in March the only available specialists are the ones already carrying a full Year 13 load.

There is a second reason cost sits at the front of an Arabic B page specifically. Arabic B is one of the cheapest Diploma subjects to fix, because the three things that usually hold a Dubai student back - dialect interference in written Modern Standard Arabic, untrained listening, and no practice with the prescribed text types - all respond to a small number of well-targeted sessions. Families routinely spend more than they need to, over a longer period, because nobody diagnosed which of the three was the problem before the invoicing started.

IB Gram delivers Arabic B as one-to-one lessons over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around a Dubai school day. We do not offer home visits in the UAE - sending a tutor to an address is a service we run only in India - and that is also a pricing fact: you are not paying for a car crossing Sheikh Zayed Road at 17:00 in either direction. Our own figure is quoted after the free trial lesson, when the level, the component and the session length are known, rather than advertised as a band that moves at checkout.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Arabic B appears in more than one IB programme, and the cost of support differs sharply between them because the assessment load does. These are the programmes Dubai schools run and what each one typically costs a family in tutoring hours rather than in fees.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Arabic B sits in Group 2 as a language-acquisition course, taken at SL or HL. Three assessed components: a written task, listening and reading comprehension, and an individual oral. HL adds two literary works in Arabic. For costing purposes the Diploma is the expensive end, because the components are externally assessed and the oral is moderated, so preparation is not optional.

Dubai Diploma families typically buy Arabic B support in one of two shapes: a weekly session across Year 13, which at published specialist rates is a substantial two-term commitment, or a block of six to eight sessions aimed at one component. The second shape is cheaper and, where the problem has been diagnosed properly, often just as effective.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Arabic acquisition in the Middle Years Programme is assessed in phases against four criteria, internally, with no external paper. That changes the economics: there is no exam to prepare for, so support is about building the register and the reading habit that the Diploma will later assess. Rates for MYP work sit lower than Diploma rates across the market because the specialism required is narrower.

The cheapest Arabic B intervention available to a Dubai family is also the earliest one. An hour a week in Year 10, building Modern Standard Arabic reading and writing, costs less per hour than Year 13 crisis support and removes the need for most of it. Very few families buy it, because nothing has gone wrong yet.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Where Arabic B is taken as one of the Diploma courses inside the Career-related Programme, the student sits the same components and is marked on the same scale, so the preparation cost is the same. The surrounding load differs, with a reflective project in place of some written coursework, which usually leaves more weekday time available for language work.

Only a small number of Dubai schools are authorised to run the Career-related Programme, so a CP student is often the only one in their year taking Arabic B on that route. School revision groups are timetabled for the Diploma cohort, which pushes these students towards paid one-to-one support earlier than their classmates.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Arabic B is the course on this page, and families pricing it are usually pricing one or two other language courses at the same time. These are the Group 1 and Group 2 courses IB Gram covers, with the cost-relevant difference between them.

Arabic B

HL and SL

Acquisition Arabic for students with conversational or dialect Arabic and limited Modern Standard Arabic. Written task, listening and reading, and an individual oral. HL adds two literary works, which is the single biggest driver of the HL-over-SL price difference across this market.

Arabic ab initio

SL only

For genuine beginners with no prior Arabic study. Cheaper to support than Arabic B because the prescribed vocabulary and themes are narrower, but not available to students who have studied Arabic at school, which excludes most Dubai residents.

Arabic A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Group 1 route for first-language Arabic speakers. Sits at the top of the market's rate band because the pool of tutors who teach the HL essay and the moderated oral in Arabic is small. Relevant here mainly to families deciding between the A and B routes.

English B

HL and SL

The commonest Group 2 pairing for an Arabic A student, and sometimes taken by a student who also needs Arabic B support for school-level Arabic. Priced in the same band as Arabic B across this market, with far more tutors available.

French B

HL and SL

Priced slightly above Arabic B in Dubai because the supply of French B specialists working to Gulf Standard Time is thinner. Useful comparison when a family is choosing which Group 2 language to commit a child to in Year 11.

Spanish B

HL and SL

Chosen by Dubai students with no heritage connection to the language, which makes the HL literary works the costly part. Market rates match Arabic B; the difference is how many hours a student needs rather than the hourly figure.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word prescribed-title essay plus the exhibition. Usually bought as a short block of three or four sessions rather than a weekly commitment, which makes it one of the cheapest pieces of IB support a Dubai family will buy.

Extended Essay in Arabic B

Core

A 4,000-word essay in Arabic in one of three categories. Supervision is about scope and source quality and is typically priced as a small number of checkpoint sessions across a year, not as weekly support. The writing is always the student's own.

IGCSE Arabic as a Foreign Language

Cambridge 0544

Held by many Dubai students on entry to Arabic B, and the qualification that sets their habits. Its reward structure for fixed formats is what Arabic B's conceptual-understanding criterion penalises, so the first sessions often cost money to undo earlier learning.

MYP Arabic language acquisition

Phases 1-5

Internally assessed, no external paper, and the cheapest point in a Dubai family's whole language-support timeline. Support bought here costs less per hour and reduces the hours needed in Year 13, which is the clearest value available in this subject.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Dubai families buy Arabic B support, and they cost very different amounts for the same outcome. All three are delivered one-to-one over live video, and the trial lesson is identical in each.

Diagnostic block of six

Six sessions aimed at whichever of the three usual problems the trial identified: dialect interference in written Arabic, untrained listening, or unfamiliarity with the prescribed text types. The cheapest route to real grade movement in this subject, because it buys only the hours the diagnosis justified rather than a standing weekly commitment.

  • Problem named in the trial before any block is agreed
  • Six sessions, then a decision rather than a renewal by default
  • Marked written work returned with criterion letters attached
  • Works best in Year 12 or early Year 13

Weekly across the final two terms

One session a week from January of Year 13, following the school's scheme and covering all three components in rotation. The most expensive shape in total and the right one for a student who is behind across the board rather than weak in one place. Published specialist rates make this a planned household expense, not an impulse.

  • Follows the school's own theme sequence rather than a separate syllabus
  • One marked written task a fortnight
  • Oral rehearsal built into the weeks before the recording window
  • Reviewed at session six against marked scripts

Early fortnightly from Year 11 or Year 12

A fortnightly session started well before anything has gone wrong, building Modern Standard Arabic reading and writing. Lowest total cost of the three for the same end grade, and the least popular, because it asks a family to spend money on a subject that is not yet a problem.

  • Register work before the Diploma components arrive
  • Reading set for weekends and school holidays
  • HL literary works scheduled across Year 12 rather than crammed
  • Fewer total hours bought than any crisis plan

What an IB DP Arabic B tutor costs in Dubai, in AED

The band is AED 45 to AED 650 an hour across the whole Dubai market, and quoting that range is almost useless, so here is the narrower version. A university-student tutor working online is published from AED 45 to AED 150. A qualified subject tutor online sits at AED 150 to AED 300. An IB or IGCSE specialist is published at AED 200 to AED 450 and above. A named or examiner-tier tutor reaches AED 500 to AED 650. An in-home one-to-one visit in Dubai runs AED 180 to AED 500, and that figure includes the travel you are funding in both directions.

For a Diploma Arabic B candidate the honest answer is that the two lower tiers are usually a false economy and the top tier is usually unnecessary. Conversational Arabic practice at AED 60 an hour does not move a grade that is being lost on the conceptual-understanding criterion, because the tutor has never read the criterion. Equally, a AED 650 examiner-tier hour buys nothing extra for a student whose problem is that they have never written a formal email in Modern Standard Arabic under timed conditions. The middle band is where the work gets done.

Monthly packages are also published in this market: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Every one of those figures belongs to the provider or the rate table that published it. IB Gram quotes its own figure after the free trial lesson, once level, component and session length are known.

The six variables that move an Arabic B quote in Dubai

An hourly band is a starting point, not a quote. Six things decide where inside the band a particular family lands, and five of the six are under the family's control. Knowing which ones matter turns a negotiation about price into a conversation about scope, which is the only version of that conversation worth having.

Level is the first. Arabic B HL carries two literary works that the tutor must also have read and prepared, which is unpaid time that gets priced into the hourly rate. Component is the second: marking a written task takes a tutor twenty minutes outside the session, while oral rehearsal with playback and examiner-style questioning takes closer to an hour. Lead time is the third and the largest. The same block of eight sessions booked in September and booked in March are different products, because in March the available specialists are the ones with a full Year 13 timetable already.

The remaining three are session length, delivery format and frequency. Ninety-minute sessions usually carry a lower effective hourly rate than sixty-minute ones because the preparation overhead is spread further. Format decides whether travel is in the price at all. And frequency cuts both ways: weekly work gives the tutor continuity and justifies a tighter rate, while sporadic one-off sessions cost more per hour because each one needs re-diagnosing.

The variable nobody lists is who is doing the quoting. A marketplace adds a platform margin to the tutor's own figure, an agency adds account management, and a freelancer quotes net but may not hold the permit the law requires. The same teacher can appear at three different prices in the same week depending on which route you reach them through, and none of those three prices tells you anything about their Arabic B experience. Ask for the component history first and the number second. The table below sets out the direction and the rough size of each effect so a quote can be interrogated rather than accepted.

Online, in-home or a tuition centre: the Dubai comparison

Parents searching for Arabic B help in Dubai are choosing between four delivery models, and the published price differences between them are mostly about logistics rather than teaching. An in-home visit prices two journeys. A tuition centre prices premises and prices a group. An independent freelancer prices whatever the local market will bear and may or may not hold the permit the law requires. Online one-to-one prices teaching time and preparation and nothing else.

The quality question runs on a separate axis from the price question, which is why a straight comparison of hourly figures misleads. A group class at AED 90 per student per hour is cheap and will not fix a conceptual-understanding problem, because the tutor cannot mark six students' written tasks against criteria inside one lesson. A premium in-home rate on Palm Jumeirah is not buying more expertise than the same tutor would bring to a video call; it is buying the drive. The useful comparison is cost per unit of marked, criterion-referenced work produced.

IB Gram offers one model: one-to-one lessons over live video. We make no home visits in the UAE and we hold no UAE premises, so the comparison below is between what the Dubai market charges for each model rather than between products we sell. Where a family genuinely needs a tutor physically present - a young child, a specific access need - an online platform is the wrong choice and we will say so rather than take the booking.

04

Why Arabic B is cheaper to fix than most Diploma subjects

  • Dialect interference in written Arabic: six to eight weeks of marked timed writing
  • Untrained listening: two months of twice-weekly recorded practice
  • Unfamiliar text types: roughly one session per type, drilled in pairs
  • Diagnose before buying hours; the three problems need different hours

Arabic B grades in Dubai are usually held down by three specific, diagnosable things, and all three respond to a small number of sessions. That is unusual. A Physics HL problem can be spread across eight topics and a year of missing foundations; an Arabic B problem is almost always one of three, which means the correct intervention is a block of six to eight sessions rather than a standing weekly commitment running to the end of Year 13.

The first is dialect interference in written Modern Standard Arabic. A Dubai student who speaks Gulf, Egyptian or Levantine dialect at home will carry dialect vocabulary and syntax into written responses under time pressure, and lose marks on the language criterion for things that are mechanical rather than conceptual. Timed writing, marked for register and returned with the pattern named, closes this in six to eight weeks. The second is listening. It is a trained skill, it is worth a substantial share of the grade, and almost no Dubai school timetables practice for it because there is no neat homework to set. Twice-weekly recorded practice over two months moves it.

The third is the prescribed text types. The written task names a text type - a blog, a formal letter, a speech, a set of guidelines - and its conventions carry marks under the conceptual-understanding criterion. Students who have never written a formal letter in Arabic lose those marks every time. This is the cheapest fix of the three: a session per text type, drilled in pairs on identical content, and the problem is gone. Families who buy a year of general Arabic conversation instead typically spend several times as much for less movement.

05

What the components cost in preparation hours

Arabic B has three assessed components: a written task from a choice of prompts, listening and reading comprehension, and an individual oral that is recorded and moderated. HL adds two literary works in Arabic which supply the material for the HL oral. Converting those components into hours is the piece of arithmetic no competitor page does, and it is the only way to turn an hourly rate into a budget.

The numbers below are typical preparation requirements for a Dubai student starting from a mid-band position, not a promise about any individual. A student further behind needs more; a student with a single narrow gap needs far less. What they show is the shape of the spend: the oral is the most expensive component per mark available, listening is the most expensive in elapsed weeks, and the written task is the cheapest to improve. A family with limited budget and a broad problem should spend it on text types and listening, in that order.

Confirm every weighting with your child's Diploma coordinator before planning around it, because the IB revises course structures on a cycle and schools set internal deadlines months ahead of external ones. The budgeting logic holds regardless: price the component, not the subject, and ask any tutor to tell you how many hours they think a component needs before you agree a rate.

One arithmetic point is worth doing out loud, because families rarely do it. Twelve hours of listening work at the mid band is a four-figure sum in AED, and it buys a component worth a substantial share of the final grade. Four hours of text-type drill at the same rate is a far smaller sum and often buys more movement, because the conceptual-understanding marks were being dropped wholesale rather than partially. Ordering the spend by marks-per-dirham rather than by what feels most urgent is the difference between a budget that works and one that runs out in April with the oral still unrehearsed.

Tutoring cost in context: Dubai fees and the 2026-27 freeze

A tutoring invoice looks different next to a Dubai school fee bill. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. School fees are flat this year. Tutoring rates are not covered by that decision and have not behaved as though they were.

Scale matters too. Dubai's private school sector held 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with IB programmes accounting for roughly a fourteenth of enrolment. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools - four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate - creating 16,846 new places, after six new schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by six per cent. More IB places means more Arabic B candidates competing for the same small pool of specialists, which is a supply pressure on rates rather than a quality one.

The practical conclusion for a Dubai family is that tutoring is the variable line in an education budget and the school fee is the fixed one. A single weekly specialist hour across two Diploma terms is a meaningful sum. Six targeted sessions after a proper diagnosis is a fraction of it.

There is one more item families forget to budget for, and it is not tutoring. A student sitting any component as a private candidate, or re-sitting in a later session, pays entry fees to the school or centre administering the examination, and those are set by the centre rather than by the board. Ask your school's examinations officer for the figure early, because it lands in the same term as the heaviest tutoring months and it is the expense that most often arrives unannounced. The table below puts the usual items side by side so the comparison is visible rather than assumed.

Packages, cancellations and the extras that catch Dubai parents

  • Ask what happens to an unused package session and when credit expires
  • Ask whether marking of written work is inside the hourly rate
  • Ask whether an SL to HL change repricing applies mid-course
  • Ask whether the quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive of VAT
  • Ask for the tutor's MoHRE private tuition work permit position

Most of the money lost in this market is not lost on the hourly rate. It is lost on terms. A monthly package of eight sessions is good value if eight sessions are used and poor value if four are, and Dubai families lose sessions constantly to school trips, travel, sport fixtures and exam weeks. Before agreeing a package, ask what happens to an unused session, how much notice a cancellation needs, and whether credit expires.

The second extra is marking. Some providers price the lesson and treat written marking as additional, which matters enormously in a language subject where the marked task is the product. Ask directly whether criterion-referenced marking of written work is inside the hourly rate or outside it, and get the answer before the first invoice. The third is level changes: a student moving from SL to HL mid-course changes the tutor's preparation load, and some providers reprice at that point.

A fourth is tax treatment, and the only honest position is a narrow one. We will not state how UAE value added tax applies to tuition fees in general, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation we do not have. What any provider can and should tell you is whether the AED figure they quoted you is inclusive or exclusive of VAT, and whether they hold a tax registration number. Ask that question of every quote you receive, including ours.

A fifth extra is the data you hand over to get a quote. A tutoring enquiry form that asks for a child's school, year group, recent grades and sometimes a photograph is collecting personal data about a minor, and under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection you are entitled to know what is collected, why, and how to have it deleted. Before filling in a form on any provider's site, including this one, look for the privacy link and check that the purpose is stated. A provider who cannot tell you how to delete your child's record is a provider to be cautious of on more than price.

08

Who may legally charge for private tuition in the UAE

Price and legality are connected in this market, because the cheapest quotes often come from people who are not permitted to charge at all. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and it is applied for through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system under the service name 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', which lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time.

Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no amount is quoted here; a figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source and should not be relied on.

Two further points. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school - treat that as press-reported and verify against the current ADEK policy before relying on it. And a tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal entity from an individual tutor: it needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. IB Gram holds no such permit and does not describe itself as having one, because it operates no UAE premises.

When paying for an Arabic B tutor is not the answer

  • Use the school's own clinic before buying hours; it is already paid for
  • A reading schedule for the HL works is free and a parent can set it
  • Wait for the criterion breakdown before choosing what to buy
  • A placement error is not fixable by paying for more sessions
  • Buy a block, review against marked scripts, then decide

The cheapest advice on this page is the advice to not spend. Several Arabic B situations in Dubai do not need paid support, and a provider who takes the booking anyway is selling something the family did not need. Saying so is more useful than another paragraph about quality, and it is the part of the conversation that distinguishes a service from a sales funnel.

If the school already runs a weekly Arabic B clinic and your child has not attended it, attend it first; it is included in fees you have already paid. If the problem is that the student has not read the two HL literary works, the fix is a reading schedule, not an hourly rate, and a parent can set one. If a single mock mark triggered the search, wait for the criterion breakdown before buying anything, because the language criterion and the conceptual-understanding criterion need completely different work. And if the student is in Arabic B when they should be in Arabic ab initio or Arabic A, no number of sessions corrects a placement error.

There is also a case where paid support is right and more of it is wrong. A student with one diagnosed gap needs a block of six, not a standing weekly commitment to July. The default commercial shape in this market is the open-ended weekly booking, because it is predictable revenue. The shape that serves the student is a diagnosis, a block, a review against marked scripts, and an honest decision about whether to continue. No tutor can promise a particular grade, and a provider who does is telling you something about their claims rather than about their teaching.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Where a Dubai family lives changes the cost of in-home tutoring and changes nothing about the cost of online tutoring. The notes below cover what the market charges to reach each area and what the school mix means for Arabic B demand there.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Dense tower living with short school runs but heavy evening traffic. In-home rates quoted for this area sit at the upper end of the published band because parking and access add time to each visit. Online slots from 17:00 are the most requested.

Arabian Ranches and Mudon

Villa communities where a visiting tutor's round trip from central Dubai can exceed ninety minutes, which is why published in-home rates here include travel loading. Arabic B demand is steady and mostly SL, paired with sciences at HL.

The Greens and The Views

Short distances to several IB schools and a high density of mid-year arrivals. Families here frequently buy short blocks rather than weekly support, because students join Arabic B part way through the themes and need catching up rather than ongoing teaching.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Sport commitments dominate weekday evenings, so sessions cluster at 20:00 or at weekends. Weekend-rate premiums are common in the in-home market here and do not apply to online delivery, which is the clearest cost difference in this area.

Discovery Gardens and The Gardens

Price-sensitive market with large South Asian and Arab populations and strong demand for the lower end of the rate band. The risk here is a budget tutor who teaches conversational Arabic rather than the Arabic B criteria, which costs more over a year, not less.

Dubailand and Liwan

Newer schools with small Diploma cohorts, so Arabic B classes are tiny and school-level revision support is thin. Distance from central Dubai makes in-home visits expensive here, and online delivery removes the travel component entirely.

Palm Jumeirah

The highest published in-home quotes in the city, driven by access time rather than by teaching quality. Families here often assume a premium rate buys a specialist; the rate increase is usually travel, and the specialism needs checking separately.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Higher-fee Dubai IB schools with large Arabic acquisition cohorts

In these schools Arabic B classes are large and well staffed, so paid support is usually bought for one component rather than for the whole course. Families here tend to buy later and in shorter blocks.

  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Dubai International Academy - Emirates Hills
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai

Mid-fee Dubai schools running the Diploma alongside other routes

Dual-route schools split staffing between IGCSE, A Level and the Diploma, which thins Arabic B provision at the Diploma end. Families from these schools more often buy weekly support across a full year, and the total cost is correspondingly higher.

  • Uptown International School
  • Raffles World Academy
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Horizon International School
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named only as context for Dubai's IB ecosystem; IB Gram has no affiliation with, endorsement from, or commercial relationship to any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the level, the component and the last mark

HL or SL, which of the written task, listening, reading or the oral is the concern, and the most recent mark with the criterion breakdown if the school gave one. With those three things a specialist can be matched without a paid diagnostic session, which is where families most often lose money first.

  2. 02

Read two profiles before any quote

Each shows the components the tutor has taught most, the levels they take and their hours in Gulf Standard Time. You choose. We would rather tell you nobody suitable is free in your slot than put a general Arabic teacher in front of a Diploma component.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

Forty-five minutes, one per family, no card details taken. The tutor sets a timed written task or runs a listening set, so the session produces evidence rather than impressions. You get a written note naming which of the three usual problems your child has.

  4. 04

Get the figure and the terms together

Our rate is quoted after the trial, with the session length, what marking is included, the cancellation notice and whether the figure is inclusive of VAT all stated at the same time. An hourly number without those four things is not a price.

  5. 05

Review against marked scripts at session six

Six sessions is enough to see whether dialect interference has dropped or listening scores have moved. If they have not, the plan changes or the tutor does. We look at marked work rather than at reported confidence, because in a language subject the two often disagree.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures with their sources attached

Every AED band on this page names the provider page or rate table it came from, with the month it was read. Three of the most visible competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars, which no UAE family transacts in.

No travel in the price

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, so you are not funding two journeys across Dubai per session. IB Gram makes no UAE home visits - that is a service we run only in India - and the published in-home band shows what that difference is worth.

Priced by component, not by subject

The written task, listening and the oral need different numbers of hours, and we will tell you which before you buy any. The default weekly open-ended booking is good for a provider's revenue and usually more than an Arabic B student needs.

The permit question answered plainly

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge for two years and required of individuals who tutor privately. We tell you to ask for it, including of us, rather than implying a regulatory status nobody in this market actually holds.

No claimed approvals

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry of Education, IB or Cambridge approval or partnership, operates no UAE office or centre, and says so. Naming a regulator and explaining what it does is useful; implying it endorses us is not.

Advice to spend less where that is right

If the school clinic covers it, if a reading schedule fixes it, or if the student is in the wrong course, we say so. A block of six after a real diagnosis beats a year of weekly sessions, and it is the recommendation that costs us the most to make.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much should I expect to pay per hour for an IB Arabic B tutor in Dubai?+

On published market figures, a qualified subject tutor working online runs about AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, and an IB specialist AED 200 to AED 450 and above. Below that, AED 45 to AED 150 buys a university-student tutor who will practise conversation but usually cannot mark against the Arabic B criteria. Above it, AED 500 to AED 650 reaches examiner-tier pricing that an Arabic B candidate seldom needs. In-home visits in Dubai are published at AED 180 to AED 500 because travel is priced in. Those are market rates, not ours.

Why does Arabic B HL cost more per hour than SL?+

Because HL adds two literary works in Arabic that the tutor also has to read, prepare and be able to discuss at extract level, and that preparation sits outside the paid session. The HL individual oral starts from an extract from one of those works rather than from a visual stimulus, so a tutor cannot improvise it. Across this market the HL premium is real and visible in published bands. If HL was chosen for prestige rather than for workload fit, the cheaper decision is often to revisit the level with the Diploma coordinator.

Is it cheaper to book a block of sessions or pay weekly for Arabic B?+

A block is usually cheaper in total and a weekly booking is usually cheaper per hour, which is why providers prefer the second. For Arabic B specifically, a block after a proper diagnosis tends to win, because the three things that hold Dubai students back each respond in six to eight sessions. The open-ended weekly commitment is the right shape only when a student is behind across all three components. Ask any provider how many hours they think the diagnosed problem needs before agreeing to a recurring charge.

Does the published hourly rate include marking my child's written work?+

It depends entirely on the provider, and in a language subject this is the question that decides value. The marked written task is the product: a response returned with criterion letters and marks attached is what shows a student whether they are losing marks on language or on conceptual understanding. Some providers treat marking as additional to the lesson rate. Ask directly, get the answer before the first invoice, and treat an hourly figure quoted without a marking position as incomplete rather than competitive.

Does the price of Arabic B tutoring in Dubai include VAT?+

Ask every provider that question specifically, including us. We will not state how UAE value added tax applies to tuition fees as a general matter, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation we do not hold, and a tutoring page is the wrong place to interpret tax law. What a provider can tell you is whether the AED figure they quoted is inclusive or exclusive of VAT and whether they hold a tax registration number. A quote that does not say is a quote that may change.

Will rates go up if I book Arabic B support close to the exams?+

In practice yes, and lead time is the single largest variable in this market. Booked in September, a block of eight sessions draws on specialists with open timetables. Booked in March, the only tutors with capacity are those already carrying a full Year 13 load, and the effective rate reflects that scarcity. The cheapest Arabic B support a Dubai family can buy is bought before anything has gone wrong, and the most expensive is bought six weeks out. That ordering has nothing to do with any individual provider's price list.

Is a cheap Arabic conversation tutor enough for the Diploma course?+

Usually not, and this is where Dubai families most often spend money without result. Arabic B marks are lost on the conceptual-understanding criterion - text type, audience, register - and on trained listening. A conversation tutor at the bottom of the rate band has rarely read the criteria and cannot mark against them, so the sessions feel productive and the grade does not move. Conversation practice has a place in building fluency. It is not a substitute for criterion-referenced marking of the written task.

How many tutored hours does Arabic B usually need in total?+

It depends on where the student starts, and the honest ranges are wide. One diagnosed gap - text types, say - needs four to six hours. Listening alone needs eight to twelve hours spread over six to eight weeks because it cannot be compressed. A student weak across all three components from a low base needs something closer to twenty-five to forty hours across two or three terms. HL oral preparation adds eight to ten on top, spread across Year 12 and Year 13. Price the component, not the subject.

Why would online Arabic B tuition cost less than a tutor coming to our villa?+

Because an in-home visit prices two journeys, and in Dubai those journeys are long. A round trip to Arabian Ranches, Dubailand or Palm Jumeirah at 17:00 can exceed ninety minutes, and the published in-home band of AED 180 to AED 500 reflects it. The teaching is the same teaching. IB Gram delivers one-to-one lessons over live video and makes no home visits in the UAE, so no part of what you pay is a car on Sheikh Zayed Road. Where a child genuinely needs someone in the room, online is the wrong choice.

Are tuition centres in Dubai better value than one-to-one for Arabic B?+

A centre group class costs less per student per hour and produces far less marked individual work, because a tutor cannot mark four or six students' written tasks against criteria inside one lesson. For content revision across the five themes a group can work. For diagnosing which criterion is leaking marks, or rehearsing a moderated individual oral, it cannot. The comparison worth making is cost per piece of criterion-referenced marked work rather than cost per hour of attendance, and on that measure the ranking frequently reverses.

What should I ask a Dubai tutor about the MoHRE permit before paying them?+

Ask whether they hold a private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and ask to see the reference. It is granted free of charge for two years through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system, so there is no cost reason for a tutor not to hold one. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so treat any specific amount you read online as unverified. School staff should also confirm their employer's position.

How do Dubai school fees and the 2026-27 freeze affect what I should budget for tutoring?+

KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. That decision covers school fees, not tutoring rates, which are set by providers and have not followed it. For a household budget the useful framing is that the school fee is fixed and the tutoring line is the variable one. Six targeted sessions after a diagnosis costs a fraction of a weekly specialist commitment across two Diploma terms.

Can we cancel or pause Arabic B sessions during school trips and exam weeks?+

Ask before you commit, because this is where package money actually disappears. Dubai Diploma students lose sessions to residential trips, travel, sport fixtures and internal exam weeks, and an eight-session monthly package is poor value if four sessions are used. Get the notice period, the treatment of an unused session and the expiry date on any credit in writing at the point of booking. Most reasonable providers allow a pause with notice; the detail to check is whether paused credit expires at the end of the month or carries forward.

Is it worth paying for Arabic B support in Year 11, before the Diploma starts?+

It is the lowest-cost route to the same end grade and almost nobody buys it. A fortnightly session in Year 11 or early Year 12, building Modern Standard Arabic reading and formal writing, costs less per hour than Year 13 specialist support and removes most of the need for it. The reason families do not is that nothing has gone wrong yet, so there is no trigger. If you are reading this page in Year 11 rather than in Year 13, the cheapest decision available to you is to start small now.

What happens if we cannot afford specialist Arabic B rates at all?+

Several things worth doing cost nothing. Use the school's own Arabic clinic if it runs one; it is inside fees already paid. Set a reading schedule for the HL literary works yourself, with dates, because the schedule rather than the tutor is what prevents the Year 13 problem. Get the criterion breakdown from the last mock so that any hours you do buy are aimed correctly. Then, if you buy anything, buy one text-type session and one listening diagnostic rather than a month of general conversation.

An hourly rate is only meaningful once somebody knows which Arabic B component is costing the marks, because the written task, listening and the oral need very different numbers of hours. The trial lesson is free, one per family, with no card details taken, and it produces a timed piece of work rather than an impression. After it you get our figure with the session length, the marking position, the cancellation notice and the VAT position stated together.
