IB Chemistry Tutor in Al Khawaneej

Hiring an IB Chemistry tutor in Al Khawaneej is a spending decision with three very different price tags inside it, because a mole-arithmetic problem, an organic-reasoning problem and an investigation problem cost different amounts to fix and need different tutors. This page costs each one separately against published Dubai rates, starts with the cheapest marks in the course, and teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Al Khawaneej

Three different Chemistry problems, three different price tags

Families in Al Khawaneej asking what a Chemistry tutor costs are usually asking the wrong question, and it is nobody's fault: the market quotes an hourly figure, so an hourly figure is what gets compared. The more useful question is what the specific problem costs to fix, because Diploma Chemistry fails in three recognisably different ways and they do not cost the same to repair.

The first is quantitative. A student cannot reliably convert between mass, amount, molar mass, concentration and volume, so every calculation question consumes attention that should have gone on the chemistry. This is the most common problem, the cheapest to fix and the one with the largest effect, because almost every quantitative question in the course passes through amount of substance. Six to ten focused sessions usually settle it, and a qualified tutor at the published mid band can do the work.

The second is conceptual, and it concentrates in organic chemistry. A student who has memorised mechanisms answers confidently on familiar molecules and collapses on anything unfamiliar. This is slower, does not respond to cramming, and genuinely benefits from a specialist rather than a qualified generalist, because the work is rebuilding reasoning rather than re-teaching content. It costs more per hour and takes more hours, and it is worth starting in the first year rather than the revision term.

The third is the independent investigation, and its cost depends almost entirely on when coaching starts. An hour spent narrowing the research question before any data is collected is worth several hours spent on a draft three weeks before submission. The marks in that component are mostly decided at the beginning, which makes early coaching the best-value purchase in the whole subject and late coaching the worst.

There is a fourth category worth naming, which is not a Chemistry problem at all. Some students understand the chemistry, can do the calculations and still produce mediocre marks because they never secured the recall layer: the tests for common ions and gases with their observations, the precise definitions that score nothing when paraphrased, and the convention of writing ionic equations with the charges balanced. That is the cheapest block of marks in the course and it needs no tutor, which is why this page says to take it before buying anything. A family that spends a fortnight on it and then buys eight sessions on moles has usually bought everything they needed.

The rest of this page costs those three problems separately against published Dubai figures, identifies the cheapest marks in the course and says to take them first, and explains what you are not paying for when lessons are taught over video. Teaching for UAE families is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, since in-home visiting is a service offered only in India, and that choice is why none of the fee is paying for a drive to the eastern suburbs.

At a glance

  • Quantitative problems: cheapest to fix, largest effect, mid band is enough
  • Organic reasoning: slower, needs a specialist, start in the first year
  • Investigation: cost depends on when coaching starts, not how much is bought
  • The cheapest marks in the course are definitional and are given away
  • Teaching is one-to-one over live video, so no fee pays for travel
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Chemistry appears differently in each IB programme, and the money question changes with it. These are the three as the schools around Al Khawaneej run them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Chemistry at Higher or Standard Level within six subjects and three core elements. Both levels share structure and bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox and organic chemistry, with Higher Level extending each and carrying more calculation. Every candidate produces an independent scientific investigation written entirely by the student and marked against published criteria.

International Baccalaureate programmes held seven per cent of Dubai private-school enrolment in 2024-25. Diploma Chemistry groups in this catchment are small and Higher Level groups smaller, which is the supply fact behind the specialist end of the rate card described below.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Science assessed against four criteria rather than by papers. A student can score well on understanding, inquiry design, data processing and evaluation while having done comparatively little calculation, which is exactly the gap that makes the first Diploma Chemistry term feel abrupt.

Support at this stage costs less because the specialist scarcity is lower, and it is good value: calculation fluency built in the Middle Years removes the most expensive Diploma Chemistry problem before it exists. Uptown International School in Mirdif runs the continuum this catchment mostly uses.

CPAges 16-19

Career-related Programme

A smaller IB route pairing Diploma courses with a career-related study, a reflective project and personal and professional skills. Where Chemistry is taken inside it the subject content is the Diploma course, so tutoring is identical; what differs is the competing workload and the deadlines around it.

Few UAE schools offer this route, so most eastern-suburbs students meet Chemistry through the full Diploma. Where a family is comparing the two, ask the school which universities have accepted its Career-related graduates rather than which programme sounds more demanding.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Chemistry is rarely bought alone. These are the subjects Al Khawaneej families pair with it, with a note on whether the pairing changes the cost of the plan.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The page's subject. Structure and bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox, organic chemistry. The three cost centres are mole arithmetic, organic reasoning and the independent investigation, and they are priced separately on this page for good reason.

Biology

HL and SL

The usual pairing for medicine applicants. Its problems are recall volume and command-term precision rather than calculation, so a Chemistry tutor covering Biology as a second subject often misses the specific way Biology answers lose marks.

Physics

HL and SL

Shares unit discipline and significant-figure handling, which means one fix serves both. Pairing Chemistry and Physics with a tutor strong in measurement discipline is unusually good value, because the same six sessions raise marks in two subjects.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The algebra underneath Chemistry calculation: rearrangement, logarithms for pH, proportional reasoning. Where a student's Chemistry problem is really an algebra problem, maths tutoring is the cheaper purchase and fixes more than Chemistry tutoring would.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Useful for investigation data handling and regression, lighter on the symbolic manipulation Chemistry assumes. Students on this route often need rearrangement practised deliberately rather than picked up along the way.

Sports, Exercise and Health Science

HL and SL

Metabolism, energy systems and nutrition all carry chemistry. Students find these sections far easier once reaction pathways are something they can reason about, so Chemistry work pays into this subject at no extra cost.

Environmental Systems and Societies

SL

Pollution, acid deposition, water quality and carbon cycling are chemistry in context. Secure Chemistry foundations convert these topics into marks quickly, while students without them answer in general terms and score mid-range.

Design Technology

HL and SL

Materials properties and failure are applied chemistry, and the written components reward justification over description. The overlap is real but modest, so it rarely changes the cost of a Chemistry plan.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Compulsory. Chemistry offers good material on how a model known to be incomplete can still be useful. Support concerns argument structure only; the essay and exhibition remain the student's own work and are never drafted for them.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three purchases, each matched to one of the three Chemistry problems. All are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

The quantitative rebuild

Six to ten sessions on amount of substance and everything that depends on it: conversions in both directions, limiting reagents, yield, concentration and the algebra underneath. The cheapest of the three purchases and the one with the widest effect, because almost every calculation question in the course routes through it.

  • Diagnosed from a marked script in the first session
  • Conversions drilled until they stop requiring thought
  • Limiting reagent errors treated as reading errors, which they usually are
  • Ends when an unfamiliar calculation can be set up unaided

Organic reasoning work

A longer arrangement, best begun in the first Diploma year. The work replaces memorised mechanisms with a small number of transferable ideas about electron density, attraction, leaving groups and steric bulk. It needs a specialist and it needs time, and it does not respond to a fortnight before a paper.

  • Unfamiliar molecules used from the first session
  • Prediction required before any mechanism is drawn
  • Progress measured on unfamiliar examples, not familiar ones
  • Begun early, because cramming does not work on this

Investigation coaching, bought early

Short and front-loaded. The coaching tests whether the student's own research question can be measured with the school's apparatus, whether the plan generates enough data, and what each criterion rewards. Bought at the start it is cheap and decisive; bought late it is expensive and marginal.

  • Question feasibility before any data collection begins
  • Repeats and uncertainty planned rather than discovered
  • Criteria read with the student, in their own words
  • Feedback on their drafts only; no writing or supplying of data

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Khawaneej

01

Costing the three problems separately

Set the three Chemistry problems against the published Dubai bands and the picture becomes a spending plan rather than a rate comparison. The figures below are provider-published and were read in October 2026: Tutopiya from around AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from around AED 45 to 65 at the budget end; Unitors from AED 150 an hour for IGCSE and AED 200 for IB; TutorChase around AED 270; Bestimate's rate table at roughly AED 200 to 450 and above for specialist tuition; BartyED at AED 650 for premium named teaching. None of these is an IB Gram price.

A quantitative rebuild needs a tutor who knows the course and can mark a script, which is the mid band, and it needs six to ten sessions. Organic reasoning work needs a specialist and a longer run, which pushes it into the upper band and into a term rather than a month. Investigation coaching needs a specialist but very few hours if it happens at the right stage, which makes it the cheapest significant purchase in the subject when bought early and one of the most wasteful when bought late.

The table puts those three next to each other with the evidence each should produce. The point of costing this way is that it stops a family buying a term of general Chemistry tutoring when what they needed was eight sessions on moles, or buying eight sessions on content when the real problem was an investigation question that cannot be measured. Both of those are common, and both are expensive in a way an hourly rate comparison cannot reveal.

02

Take the cheapest marks in the course first

  • Tests for ions and gases, with the observation, not just the test
  • Precise definitions where a paraphrase earns nothing
  • Ionic equations written with charges balanced, every time
  • Learnable in a fortnight of short daily effort, without tutoring

Before buying any specialist hours, there is a block of Chemistry marks that costs almost nothing to secure and is given away by a large proportion of candidates. They are the definitional and recall marks: the tests for common ions and gases with their observations, the precise definitions of terms where a loose paraphrase scores nothing, the standard conditions and their notation, and the conventions for writing ionic equations with charges balanced.

These are not conceptually interesting, which is exactly why they go unrevised. A student who finds chemistry difficult spends their revision time on the parts that feel difficult, and leaves the parts that feel trivial to look after themselves. The mark scheme does not share that priority. A question asking for a test and an observation awards both, and a student who names the test and describes the result vaguely earns half of a mark they could have had in full for ten minutes of memorising.

The practical move is to do this before spending money, or in the first session rather than the tenth. Make a list of every test, definition and convention the course requires, from the school's own material and the board's published guidance, and have the student learn it properly. It is dull work, it takes a couple of weeks of short daily effort, and it raises a score with no tutoring at all. A tutor who tells a family to do this before booking a term of sessions is giving away revenue and offering real advice, which is a reasonable thing to expect.

03

The expensive problem: reasoning instead of reciting in organic chemistry

Organic chemistry is the part of the Higher Level course where the difference between learning the subject and learning the examples becomes a grade. A student who has memorised a set of mechanisms performs well while the molecule in front of them is one of the memorised set, and has nothing to deploy when a substituent changes or an unfamiliar compound appears. The confidence is real and the knowledge is brittle.

What replaces memorisation is a small number of transferable ideas: where electron density sits in a molecule, what makes a site attractive to something electron-rich or electron-poor, what makes a leaving group leave, and how steric bulk changes which pathway dominates. Four ideas, properly held, let a student reason about a molecule they have never seen. Twenty memorised schemes do not. The gap widens as the course progresses rather than closing, which is why this is the problem that most often appears as a sudden collapse in the second year.

This is the expensive repair because it needs both a specialist and time. The session work is uncomfortable: the student is handed an unfamiliar molecule and asked to predict and justify before any mechanism is drawn, which exposes precisely where the understanding stops. Students resist it for a few weeks. It also cannot be crammed, which means buying it in the final term produces anxiety and very little movement, and buying it in the first year produces a student who is still reasoning correctly eighteen months later. The cost difference between those two purchases is enormous and it is entirely about timing.

04

What you are not paying for when lessons are online

  • Published in-home packages run roughly double the online equivalent
  • The travel premium is largest for communities at the city's edge
  • A late start costs the quality of the hour as well as the fee
  • The school supplies the laboratory; tutoring supplies the discipline

Published figures put in-home one-to-one visits at roughly AED 180 to 350 in Bestimate's Dubai rate table and AED 200 to 500 from independent home tutors, with monthly in-home packages circulating at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits, against around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. The gap between those two package prices is the clearest statement in this market about what travel is worth to the people charging for it.

For an Al Khawaneej family the travel component is at its largest, because the community sits at the eastern edge of the city. A tutor driving here loses an hour to the road, prices it in, and needs the session to start late enough to arrive, which pushes the lesson towards the part of the evening where a student's attention has already gone. The family pays twice: once in the fee and once in the quality of the hour.

Teaching over live video removes both costs. The fee goes into teaching rather than driving, and the hour starts when your child is fed and ready. What it does not remove is the laboratory, and that is worth being clear about: the school provides the practical work, and tutoring provides the discipline around interpreting and writing about it. The written assessment of experimental skills concerns experiments the candidate did not perform under exam conditions, which is learnable without apparatus and responds strongly to deliberate practice. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visiting is a service offered only in India.

05

The investigation, priced by when you start

No component in Diploma Chemistry has a wider range between its cheapest and most expensive version than the independent investigation, and the variable is timing rather than quantity. The marks are substantially decided at the question-choice stage, before any data exists. A question with one clearly measurable independent variable and enough repeats to show a trend can be written up competently and score well. An ambitious question that produces four usable data points cannot be rescued by any amount of careful writing.

Which means two to four hours of coaching at the start, spent testing whether the student's own question can actually be measured with the apparatus their school has and planning the repeats and uncertainty treatment in advance, is worth several times the same hours spent on a draft three weeks before submission. Families overwhelmingly buy the second, because that is when the panic arrives. The first is cheaper, shorter and more effective.

The boundary is worth stating in both directions, since it affects what can legitimately be bought. A tutor may explain what each criterion rewards, question the feasibility of a research question, say that a plan generates too few data points or that an evaluation lists limitations without ranking them, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor may not write any part of it, rewrite the student's sentences, supply the data or hand over a method the student does not understand. Operators in this market sell completed Internal Assessments; a student who submits one risks the whole Diploma, and IB Gram will not produce assessed work at any price.

06

Where a Chemistry budget is wasted in this catchment

  • Hours the week cannot absorb are wasted whether used or not
  • Content teaching on top of insecure mole arithmetic changes nothing
  • A specialist is overspending where a qualified tutor would do
  • Late investigation coaching buys presentation, not marks

Four patterns account for most of the money Al Khawaneej families lose on Chemistry support, and none of them is overpaying per hour. Each costs more than the difference between two adjacent bands, and each is decided before the first session rather than during it.

Buying hours the week cannot absorb comes first. A student travelling home from Al Warqa or Al Qusais has roughly ninety usable minutes on a weekday evening, and a two-session weekly plan for one subject will be attended inconsistently and abandoned by week eight. Buying content teaching when the problem was quantitative comes second: a term of topic coverage layered on top of insecure mole arithmetic produces a student who knows more chemistry and scores the same. Buying a specialist for a problem a qualified tutor could fix is the third, and it is a matter of overspending rather than wasting. The fourth is buying investigation help late, which has already been described and is the most avoidable of the four.

One piece of context makes the budgeting easier at the moment. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. A household that had planned for a fee increase and did not receive one has room in the education line that was absent last year, and the best use of it in Chemistry is usually the quantitative rebuild followed by early investigation coaching, in that order.

07

What a month should have produced, in evidence

Value in Chemistry tutoring is measurable, provided the target was named at the start. After four sessions on a quantitative rebuild there should be a marked piece of work in which an unfamiliar calculation was set up correctly without prompting. That is a specific, checkable thing, and it either happened or it did not.

For organic reasoning the evidence takes longer and looks different: a correct prediction, with justification, on a molecule the student has not met. For investigation coaching the evidence is a research question that can be measured with available apparatus and a plan with enough repeats to show a trend. For a budget-band arrangement bought for structure, the evidence is work being started and finished without prompting, which is a legitimate outcome and should be judged as one.

Where the evidence is absent, the right response is to change the method or the tutor rather than to add hours. Adding hours to an arrangement that has already failed to move anything is the most expensive decision in this market, and it is the one a provider has the least incentive to discourage. A provider who proposes a pause and a rethink at session four is behaving well, and a family is entitled to expect it. Ask at the outset what the named target is and when it will be checked; a provider who cannot answer both questions has told you something useful before any money has moved.

08

Starting, and what is disclosed before payment

Begin with a short consultation to establish which of the three problems you actually have, and send two things to make it possible: the most recent marked Chemistry script with the teacher's comments intact, and, if an investigation is under way, the research question as it currently stands. Those two documents separate a quantitative problem from a conceptual one from an investigation problem in about ten minutes.

Then a free trial lesson, one-to-one over live video. Ask the tutor to read the marked script and say which of the three problems it shows, how many sessions the fix should take, and what evidence will exist at the end. All three answers should be specific. A tutor who can give them has diagnosed something; a tutor who offers to start at the beginning of the syllabus has not, and the first money leak on this page is about to begin.

Two disclosures before anything is paid. There is no IB Gram rate card on this page, because an honest figure depends on the level and the scarcity, and a number invented for a web page would be worth less than the published market bands set out above; the consultation and the trial are where that conversation belongs. And Higher Level Chemistry specialists are genuinely scarce in this emirate, so in some weeks none will have an evening slot that fits an Al Khawaneej timetable. Where that is the case you will be told, and offered a specialist based elsewhere teaching on Gulf Standard Time, rather than a general science tutor presented as a Chemistry specialist.

Where we tutor

What location does to a Chemistry quote

The notes below are about price and availability in each direction rather than about the places, since those are the two variables this page is weighing.

Al Khawaneej 1 and 2

The eastern edge, with large plots and the longest drives from the rest of the city. Quotes for a visiting tutor here sit at the top of the published in-home range, and that premium is travel rather than chemistry.

Mirdif

The nearest school cluster, and the place a locally recommended tutor most often comes from. Quotes into Mirdif tend to be lower than quotes out to Al Khawaneej, for reasons unconnected to teaching quality.

Al Mizhar

Adjacent, with the same school list and the same pricing picture. A tutor who serves one community serves the other on the same terms, which is worth knowing when comparing quotes.

Al Warqa

Large schools, more science teaching overall and more locally advertised group chemistry classes. Group pricing looks attractive per head and cannot diagnose one student's mole problem, which is the usual Chemistry difficulty.

Al Qusais

Long journeys and large cohorts. Students here arrive home latest, so a session bought for an early weekday evening is frequently a session bought and not used, which is the most expensive mistake available.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

Growing provision and congested evening routes. Relevant to cost because a tutor crossing it either prices the journey in or starts late, and the later start reduces what the hour can achieve.

Dubai International Academic City

Where much of the budget supply studies. A chemistry undergraduate can genuinely help a Middle Years student and rarely knows how the investigation criteria are applied, which is a specific and costly gap at Diploma level.

School ecosystem

  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Royal Dubai School

The large schools west and south

Bigger enrolments and oversubscribed support clinics, which is usually what sends a family looking for paid help in the first place. These are also the schools whose students most often report that chemistry help is available in groups rather than individually.

  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Al Warqa
  • The Westminster School

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Identify which of the three problems you have

Quantitative, conceptual or investigation. A marked script and the current research question separate them in about ten minutes, and getting this right decides which band you need and how many sessions to buy. Guessing it is the single most expensive error available.

  2. 02

Take the free marks before paying for any

Tests for ions and gases with their observations, precise definitions, ionic equations with balanced charges. A fortnight of short daily effort raises a score with no tutoring at all, and doing it first means paid sessions start from a higher baseline.

  3. 03

Name the target and the evidence

An unfamiliar calculation set up unaided, a correct prediction on a new molecule, or a measurable research question with planned repeats. Agree which one at session one, and when it will be checked, so value is judgeable rather than felt.

  4. 04

Buy investigation coaching at question stage

Two to four hours before any data is collected is worth several times the same hours on a draft near the deadline. The marks in that component are largely decided before anything is written, which makes early the cheap option and late the expensive one.

  5. 05

Review at four sessions and be willing to stop

If the named evidence is absent, change the method or the tutor rather than adding hours. A provider who proposes a pause at this point is behaving well, and it is reasonable to ask at the outset whether they would.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Costed by problem, not by hour

Diploma Chemistry fails in three distinguishable ways that need different tutors, different numbers of sessions and different price bands. An hourly comparison hides all of that, which is why most families buy the wrong quantity of the wrong thing.

The free marks pointed out first

Definitions, ion and gas tests with observations, and ionic equation conventions are learnable in a fortnight without tutoring. Saying so before selling sessions costs us revenue and is the advice a family should expect from anybody honest.

Published rates with sources

Every dirham figure names the provider that published it and the month it was read. Three of six competitor pages reviewed publish no price at all, and two of those that do quote in US dollars rather than the currency a Dubai family pays in.

Investigation value tied to timing

The same coaching hour is worth several times more at question-choice stage than at draft stage, because the marks are decided early. Families buy late because that is when panic arrives, and the page says so plainly.

No part of the fee pays for travel

Published in-home packages run roughly double the online equivalent, and the premium is a drive to the eastern suburbs plus a later start. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India.

Scarcity disclosed before payment

Higher Level Chemistry specialists are thin on the ground here, and when none fits your week you are told and offered a specialist elsewhere on Gulf Standard Time. No competitor page reviewed discloses a coverage limit at all.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Khawaneej: your questions answered

What does an IB Chemistry tutor cost for a family in Al Khawaneej?+

The published Dubai bands run from around AED 33 to 65 an hour at the budget online end through AED 150 to 300 for a qualified tutor, with Bestimate's rate table putting specialist tuition at roughly AED 200 to 450 and above and BartyED publishing AED 650 for premium named teaching. Which band you need depends on which Chemistry problem you have: a mole-arithmetic rebuild needs the mid band, organic reasoning work needs a specialist. These are provider figures read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices.

Which Chemistry problem is cheapest to fix?+

The quantitative one, and it is also the most common and the most consequential. A student who cannot reliably convert between mass, amount, molar mass, concentration and volume spends attention on arithmetic that should be going on the chemistry, and almost every calculation question in the course passes through amount of substance. Six to ten focused sessions with a qualified tutor usually settles it, and the evidence that it has worked is specific: an unfamiliar calculation set up correctly without prompting.

Are there Chemistry marks my child can gain without paying for tutoring?+

Yes, and they are substantial. Tests for common ions and gases together with their observations, precise definitions where a loose paraphrase earns nothing, standard conditions and their notation, and ionic equations written with charges balanced. These are recall rather than reasoning, which is exactly why students who find chemistry hard leave them unrevised. A fortnight of short daily effort secures them, raises a score with no tutoring, and means any paid sessions afterwards start from a higher baseline.

Why is organic chemistry the expensive part to fix?+

Because the repair is rebuilding reasoning rather than re-teaching content, which needs a specialist and needs time. A student who has memorised mechanisms performs confidently on familiar molecules and has nothing to deploy when a substituent changes. Replacing that with four transferable ideas about electron density, attraction, leaving groups and steric bulk takes a term rather than a fortnight and does not respond to cramming. Bought in the first year it is effective; bought in the final term it produces anxiety and little movement.

When is the best time to buy investigation coaching?+

Before the research question is fixed, which is the opposite of when most families buy it. The marks in that component are largely decided at question-choice stage: a narrow question with one measurable variable and enough repeats to show a trend can be written up competently and score well, while an ambitious question yielding four usable data points cannot be rescued by careful prose. Two to four hours at the start is worth several times the same hours on a draft near the deadline.

What can a Chemistry tutor legitimately do with the investigation?+

Explain what each criterion rewards, question whether a research question can be measured with the apparatus the school actually has, say that a plan generates too few data points or that an evaluation lists limitations without ranking them, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. What a tutor may not do is write any part of it, rewrite the student's sentences, supply the data, or hand over a method the student does not understand. Operators selling completed Internal Assessments put the whole Diploma at risk.

Is a group chemistry class a reasonable way to save money?+

For covering content before a test, yes, and the published budget rates reflect that honestly. For the usual Chemistry problem, no, because the problem is individual. Two students can score the same mark on the same calculation question for entirely different reasons, one defeated by the rearrangement and one by a volume never converted into litres. A group teaches the question; only one-to-one teaching finds out which cause applies. Ask for the student-to-tutor ratio in writing before paying anything.

How much should we expect to spend per month on Chemistry?+

Bestimate's own monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions are AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Published packages circulate around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. A quantitative rebuild is a one-off block rather than an ongoing commitment, which makes it cheaper in total than the monthly figures suggest.

Does teaching over video work for a laboratory subject?+

For the parts that are assessed in writing, yes. The written assessment of experimental skills asks about experiments the candidate did not perform under exam conditions, testing variable identification, precision, anomaly explanation and method improvement, none of which requires apparatus to practise. The school supplies the laboratory work. Tutoring supplies the discipline around interpreting and writing about it, and a shared whiteboard with the student's own graphs and script on screen covers what the subject needs.

What should a month of Chemistry tutoring have produced?+

Something specific, agreed at the first session. For a quantitative rebuild, a marked piece of work in which an unfamiliar calculation was set up correctly without prompting. For organic reasoning, a correct justified prediction on a molecule never previously met. For investigation coaching, a measurable question with planned repeats. A general feeling that chemistry is going better is not evidence, and it is what most arrangements deliver when no target was ever named.

Should we pay specialist rates for Standard Level Chemistry?+

Usually not. At Standard Level a qualified tutor in the published AED 150 to 300 band who knows the course and can mark a script against the scheme will do the work well, and the specialist premium is buying capacity you are unlikely to need. The exception is investigation coaching, where criteria literacy matters regardless of level, and the hours required are few. At Higher Level, particularly for organic reasoning, the specialist band is generally justified by what the hour can diagnose.

My child's school clinic is oversubscribed. Is that a reason to pay?+

It is the usual reason families start, and it is a sound one as far as it goes. A school support clinic is excellent at answering a specific question about last week's lesson and cannot rebuild a foundation that was never laid, which is a different job. Before paying, work out which you need. If the problem is one topic from this term, keep pressing for clinic time. If the problem is mole arithmetic that has been insecure for a year, the clinic will not fix it however available it becomes.

Can maths tutoring be cheaper than Chemistry tutoring for a Chemistry problem?+

Sometimes, and it is worth checking. Where a student's Chemistry calculation failures are really rearrangement and logarithm failures, maths tutoring fixes the cause and pays into physics marks as well, which makes it better value than Chemistry tutoring aimed at the symptom. A marked script usually reveals which it is: if the chemistry reasoning in the question is sound and the algebra collapses, the problem is mathematical. Diagnose before buying, because the two purchases cost similar amounts and do different things.

What should an Al Khawaneej family send before the first Chemistry session?+

Two documents and one number. The most recent marked Chemistry script with the teacher's comments intact, which is where the diagnosis comes from. The research question as it currently stands, if an investigation is under way, since that is where the largest single coaching return lives. And the measured weekday time your child is genuinely able to work, taken from a week of noting when the first page was actually open rather than estimated from the end of the school day.

Diagnose the problem, then price it

Chemistry in Al Khawaneej is three separate spending decisions wearing one subject name. A mole-arithmetic rebuild is cheap, fast and transformative. Organic reasoning is slow, needs a specialist and should start in the first year. Investigation coaching is almost free at question stage and nearly worthless three weeks before submission. Take the definitional marks for nothing first, then send a marked script and use the free trial to find out which problem you actually have. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with no part of the fee paying for a drive.
