Cambridge IGCSE Psychology 0266 Home Tutor in Dubai

Families looking for a Cambridge IGCSE Psychology 0266 home tutor in Dubai are usually buying reassurance and hoping it turns into marks. This page replaces reassurance with a record: a recall scorecard showing which studies your child can produce cold, a question-type scorecard showing where marks were left behind, and marked papers with dates on them. Sessions run one-to-one over live video, and the whole record is yours to read.

  • A recall scorecard naming which study elements your child cannot produce cold
  • A question-type scorecard showing exactly where marks were left behind
  • Marked papers dated and stored where the family can open them
  • Coverage and match times disclosed before any payment is taken

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Reassurance is not evidence, and psychology makes the difference hard to see

Psychology is a subject where a parent can be reassured for a whole term and discover nothing in the summer. The reason is that the material is interesting enough to discuss. A student who has read about obedience can hold a conversation about it at dinner, sound entirely in command, and still be unable to produce the study's aim, method, findings and conclusion cold in an examination hall. Interest and availability are different properties, and only one of them is examined.

The second reason is that psychology marks are distributed across question types that fail independently. A student can be strong on identifying terms, competent at describing studies, and lose almost everything available on the apply and evaluate questions, which is where the difference between a middling and a strong grade actually sits. A single overall mark hides that entirely. Two scripts with the same total can need completely different work, and no report written in sentences will tell a family which one they have.

So this page is about records rather than about teaching philosophy. Two running documents do most of the work. A recall scorecard lists each study and strand, which of the five elements the student produced cold, which was missing, and when it was last checked. A question-type scorecard takes a marked paper and splits the marks by question type, so the loss has an address. Both are short, both are readable by someone who has never studied psychology, and both make a tutor's claims checkable.

On delivery: lessons are one-to-one over live video. Home visits are not part of what IB Gram sells anywhere in the UAE, including Dubai, and are offered only in India. The page below answers the home-tutoring question properly rather than deflecting it, because it is a reasonable question with a real market behind it. What it concludes is that for a small-entry option subject like 0266, the family who insists on a tutor within driving distance is choosing from a pool of a handful of people, and the one who accepts live video is choosing from everyone who has taken a cohort through the syllabus.

What follows: the honest comparison between the three formats a Dubai family is actually weighing; the recall scorecard and how to keep it; what moves at week two, week six and week twelve; the question-type scorecard as a worked format; why the specialist you want is probably not in your postcode; what a parent can check without knowing the subject; how to schedule evidence collection around mocks, Ramadan and the series; the authorship question that dated work settles; and what the record protects if a tutor, a school or a country changes mid-course. Nothing here predicts a grade, because nothing honestly can.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The record a family should keep changes with the stage, and so does the thing worth measuring. These are the four points at which a Dubai psychology student generates evidence somebody should be reading.

Psychology is not taught at this stage, but the option decision is made at the end of it. The useful evidence here is not about psychology at all: it is whether the student can write a paragraph that makes a claim and supports it, and whether they can read a simple data table. Both are better predictors of a psychology grade than curiosity about the subject.

Dubai schools set IGCSE option blocks in Year 9 and the blocks differ between schools in the same neighbourhood. A family moving school between Year 9 and Year 10, which happens often in this city, can find that psychology is not timetabled at the new school. Ask for the current year's option blocks rather than the prospectus.

The course this page is about. Assessment is by written examination, so the evidence that matters is written: timed answers, marked, with the marks split by question type. A student's school reports will summarise effort and attitude, which are real but are not the same as a mark breakdown. The scorecards exist to supply what the reports cannot.

Confirm the board and syllabus code on the school entry form before buying anything, including revision guides. Dubai schools use Cambridge and Pearson across different subjects, sometimes within one student's timetable, and material written for the other board rehearses question formats that will not appear.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE alternative

Some Dubai schools use Pearson rather than Cambridge for social-science options. Paper structures, command wording and mark-scheme language all differ, which changes what a scorecard should track. The record-keeping method on this page transfers unchanged; the question-type column headings do not, and should be taken from the board's own published assessment material.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May or June and in November each year. Its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those dates set the real planning horizon for a retake inside one school year.

Cambridge International AS & A Level Psychology

Where a strong 0266 student usually goes next. The evidence changes character: studies are examined in procedural detail, and a candidate is expected to design and justify investigations rather than recognise and critique them. A recall scorecard at this level tracks procedure and justification, not just aim and findings, and the volume of material makes an interval-based check essential rather than optional.

A Dubai school running IGCSE Psychology does not necessarily run it at A Level, because staffing a small Year 12 group is harder than filling a Year 10 option block. Ask the sixth form whether the group ran this year, and ask how many students were in it, because a group of three can be cancelled late.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

A scorecard is organised by topic, because that is the level at which recall fails. These are the areas a Dubai 0266 student usually carries. Confirm the exact content list in the syllabus document for your child's examination year.

Memory and forgetting

Checked every three weeks

Models of memory and explanations of forgetting. The characteristic failure is a student who can draw the model and cannot say what evidence supports it. On a scorecard this shows up as findings present, evaluation missing, which is a precise and fixable entry.

Perception

Checked every three weeks

How sensory information becomes experience, including illusions and depth cues. Students hold the examples and lose the explanation, so the scorecard entry to watch is whether the mechanism can be stated without the picture in front of them.

Obedience and conformity

Checked every two weeks

The best-known material in the subject and therefore the most over-trusted. Students describe the studies vividly and skip the method, which is where the marks are. Method missing is the single most common scorecard entry across this strand.

Attachment and development

Checked every three weeks

Early relationships, their measurement and their claimed long-term effects. The evaluation work here is unusually rich because the methods are contested, and a student who holds two methodological criticisms has material for several different questions.

Atypical behaviour

Checked every three weeks

Definitions of abnormality, explanations and approaches to treatment. The risk on this strand is writing from general knowledge or from media portrayals rather than from the course, which reads plausibly and earns nothing. The scorecard check is whether a named explanation appears.

Research design

Checked weekly

Experiments, observations, self-report and correlation, with variables, controls and sampling. Checked weekly rather than three-weekly because the vocabulary recurs in questions on every other strand, so decay here costs marks across the whole paper rather than in one place.

Data, tables and graphs

Checked monthly

Reading and drawing simple charts, the mean, median, mode and range, and matching a measure of central tendency to a data set. Small, examinable, and the strand most often absent from a revision plan entirely until somebody looks at a marked data question.

Research ethics

Checked monthly

Consent, deception, withdrawal, debriefing, confidentiality and protection from harm, each with its remedy. Scored as present or absent rather than by quality, because a candidate either names the principle or does not, and naming it is what the mark scheme can credit.

Evaluation and application writing

Checked on every marked paper

Not a topic but a skill, tracked on the question-type scorecard rather than the recall one. These two question types hold the marks that separate the middle of the range from the top, and they fail for reasons that have nothing to do with how much content has been learned.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, distinguished by what each produces for the record rather than by how they feel in the moment.

Weekly session with a recall opener

Sixty minutes beginning with a four-minute cold check on two studies, then teaching, then a short written answer. The opener is not a warm-up; it is the measurement. Over a term it produces a decay pattern showing which strands fade and which hold, which is information a school report cannot provide.

  • Two studies checked cold at the start, no prompts given
  • Missing element logged by name on the scorecard
  • A short written answer produced inside the session
  • The scorecard updated the same day, not retrospectively

Marked-paper review

A fortnightly ninety-minute session built on a paper the student wrote unaided between sessions. The tutor marks it beforehand and splits the marks by question type. Session time goes on the two question types with the largest loss, which is usually not the ones the student expects.

  • Paper written unaided and timed between sessions
  • Marked in advance, split by question type before the session
  • Session spent on the two largest losses only
  • One rule introduced per session rather than a list

Pre-series audit block

A short run of sessions in the final six weeks that is mostly measurement. Two whole papers under timed conditions, marked, with both scorecards brought up to date, and the remaining time spent on whatever the audit exposes rather than on a preset revision plan.

  • Two complete papers under examination conditions
  • Both scorecards fully updated against the week-one baseline
  • No new content introduced in the final fortnight
  • A one-page handover the student can revise from alone

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

The three formats a Dubai family is actually weighing

A home-tutor search is usually a search for three things at once: convenience, attention, and the sense that somebody is accountable. Those are reasonable wants and they are not all best served by the same format. The question worth asking is not which option is better in the abstract but which one leaves behind something a parent can read in April.

The in-home market in Dubai is real and priced accordingly. Bestimate's rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour, with independent home tutors between AED 200 and 500, and that upper band reflects distance as much as expertise. Monthly in-home packages advertised in this market have run to AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. Those figures were read in October 2026 and belong to the providers that published them; none of them is an IB Gram price.

IB Gram's own answer is live video, one-to-one, with no home visits offered anywhere in the UAE. The table compares the three formats on what each produces rather than on how each is marketed. Read the third and fourth rows first. A script annotated on screen while the student watches, stored in a folder the family controls, is a materially different product from a paper exercise book that leaves the house with the tutor, and the difference only becomes obvious when somebody wants to compare February against October. The second row is worth a moment too. An hour booked with a tutor who drives across Dubai is not an hour of teaching, and the shortfall lands at both ends of the session rather than being announced.

02

The recall scorecard, and how to keep one

A named study is usable in an examination only if the student can produce five things about it without a prompt: its name, its aim, its method stated accurately enough to be repeated, its findings, and its conclusion. Recognition on a revision card is a different skill and a much weaker one. The recall scorecard exists to measure the five, one study at a time, at a stated interval.

Keeping it takes four minutes at the start of a session. The tutor names a study, the student produces the five elements aloud, and whichever element was absent is written down. Nothing is scored out of ten and no judgement is offered. What accumulates is a pattern, and the patterns are remarkably consistent: method is the element students lose first, conclusion is the one they confuse with findings, and the strand a student enjoys most is usually the one they describe rather than evaluate.

The interval matters as much as the check. A study checked every week never decays and tells you nothing. A study checked once a term has already decayed by the time anybody looks. Two to three weeks is the useful window for most topics, with research design checked weekly because its vocabulary recurs across the whole paper. The table shows the format with an illustrative set of entries; it is a worked example of the layout, not data about any student. A family can keep this themselves, incidentally, with no tutor involved. A parent reading five study names off a revision list and asking for the five elements each is running the same instrument, and the information it returns is the same information.

What moves at week two, week six and week twelve

  • Week 2: missing elements named; no mark change expected
  • Week 6: recall holding; describe and explain questions improving
  • Week 6: evaluate and apply usually still flat, which is normal
  • Week 12: a timed whole paper comparable to the baseline
  • Throughout: timing treated as a separate problem from knowledge

Families expect marks to move first and they move last. The sequence in psychology is consistent enough to plan around. By week two what has changed is the recall scorecard: the missing elements have names, and the student knows which ones they are, which is itself a change in behaviour. No mark has moved and none should be expected to.

By week six two things are usually visible. Cold recall holds on the strands that have been checked at interval, and the question-type scorecard shows movement on the describe and explain questions, which are the ones a rule can fix quickly. Evaluate and apply questions typically have not moved yet, because those require a habit rather than a rule, and a habit takes longer than three sessions to install under time pressure.

By week twelve a mark comparison becomes meaningful, because there is a timed whole paper to set beside the week-one baseline. This is also where a timing problem stops being arguable: a student who ran out of time on both papers has a timing problem, not a knowledge problem, however convincingly the revision has been done. Nobody can promise where a grade will land, and a provider who offers a specific outcome in a written-examination subject should be treated with real scepticism. What a family can reasonably expect is to know, at week six, whether the work is landing. If the answer at week six is no, that is useful rather than disastrous. Six weeks of marked evidence identifies the mismatch precisely enough to change tutor or change approach with months still available, which is the opposite of the usual pattern where a family discovers in April that a year of sessions produced goodwill and no movement.

04

The question-type scorecard: giving a loss an address

A total mark on a psychology paper is close to useless as a planning tool. Two students on the same total can need entirely different work, and a parent handed a percentage has no way of knowing which situation they are in. Splitting the paper by question type takes about ten minutes with a mark scheme and turns a number into a diagnosis.

The pattern that emerges is nearly always lopsided. Identify and describe questions come back well, because they reward what revision actually produces. Explain questions lose a predictable slice where the student stopped at a definition. Evaluate questions lose more, because the ground gets named and the consequence does not. Apply questions lose the most, often almost everything available, because the student wrote correctly about the concept and never mentioned the person in the scenario. Data questions lose a small amount reliably, since the strand is rarely revised.

The table shows the format with illustrative figures, again as a layout rather than as data about anybody. Its value is the final column. A scorecard that ends in a diagnosis and no booked action is a nicely formatted complaint. One rule per session, introduced and then tested on the next paper, is what converts the scorecard into a changed script. Two rules work for almost every student: on an apply question the last sentence names the person in the scenario, and on an evaluate question the last sentence states the consequence for the conclusion.

Why the 0266 specialist you want is probably not in your postcode

This is the honest core of the home-tutor question. Supply of tutors is not even across subjects. Mathematics and the sciences are taught in every school in the emirate, so a family looking for a Mathematics tutor within driving distance is choosing from a deep pool. Psychology at IGCSE is an option subject with a small entry, concentrated in a minority of schools, and the number of people in the region who have taken a cohort through 0266 to examination is correspondingly small.

Narrow that small group further by who can reach a particular Dubai address between the end of the school day and dinner, and the pool can collapse to nobody. What usually happens next is that a family accepts a capable general tutor who is reading the syllabus a week ahead of the student. The lessons feel productive. The question-type scorecard does not move, because the tutor cannot see where an answer stops short in a subject they have not examined.

The table sets out the availability position by subject rather than pretending it is uniform. The entries are qualitative on purpose: publishing a tutor headcount would be an unverifiable number, and this project does not publish those. What the table does commit to is the behaviour. Where no specialist is free, we say so and name the alternatives rather than substituting quietly. No competitor page researched for this project discloses a coverage limit at all, and several route UAE families to contact numbers outside the country without saying where the tutor sits.

What a parent can check without knowing any psychology

  • Three dated scorecard entries: did the missing element change?
  • The question-type split from the latest paper, with two targets named
  • Marks in the margin of a script, not only comments
  • Something written by the student in the last session
  • A named interval for the next recall check, not a vague promise

None of this requires a parent to understand the subject, which is the point of keeping records rather than requesting opinions. Four checks take about five minutes each and need no subject knowledge at all. They are also the four things a tutor who is not doing the work will find difficult to produce on request.

Check one: ask to see the last three dated entries on the recall scorecard, and look at whether the missing element changed. If the same element is still missing after three checks, the remedy is not working and that is a conversation to have in week five rather than in March. Check two: ask for the question-type split from the most recent marked paper, and ask which two types the next session will address. A tutor who cannot answer that has not split the paper.

Check three: open a marked script and look for marks in the margin. Not comments, marks. A script covered in encouraging remarks and carrying no mark allocation has been read, not marked, and the two are different services. Check four: ask what the student wrote during the last session. If the answer is nothing, the hour was a conversation. Conversations have their place in a long engagement, but a run of them is how a term disappears pleasantly. None of these four checks is adversarial, and a tutor who is doing the work will welcome them, because they convert a parent's anxiety into a specific question with a specific answer. The tutors who resist are the ones keeping nothing, and finding that out in week five costs a family one session rather than a year.

07

Collecting evidence around mocks, Ramadan and the series

Evidence collection has to fit the Dubai school year or it quietly stops. Three periods are routinely mishandled. The first is the opening weeks of the course, when families ask for a full past paper the student has no content for; the result is a demoralising mark that measures nothing. The second is the school mock fortnight, when a tutor sets additional timed work on top of school examinations and the student does neither properly. The third is Ramadan, when a long evening paper becomes unrealistic and the sensible move is shorter, more frequent recall checks instead.

The mock fortnight is the single best evidence-gathering opportunity in the school year and most families waste it. The school has already produced timed scripts under proper conditions and marked them against a scheme. Asking for the script back, rather than only the mark, gives a tutor a free diagnostic that is more realistic than anything produced at home. Some schools return scripts readily and some need asking twice; it is worth the second ask.

The table maps the year onto what to collect and what not to attempt. One entry deserves emphasis: in the final fortnight before a series, no new topic should be introduced. A student who meets unfamiliar content in the last two weeks loses confidence in material they already held, and the cost of that is larger than the marks the new topic might have delivered. The last two weeks are for two timed papers, the marking, and sleep.

Authorship, and the question dated work settles

Psychology support runs into an authorship question wherever a student has written work to hand in. A tutor may teach research design, press a weak hypothesis until the student sharpens it, explain why a sampling choice is vulnerable, model the reasoning on an entirely different investigation, and mark what the student has produced in as much detail as the student can absorb. A tutor may not supply text for submission, settle the design on the student's behalf, or provide analysis the student then presents as their own.

Dated, marked-after-the-fact work settles this without anybody having to argue about it. If every piece in the folder was written by the student at a known time and marked afterwards, authorship is a matter of record. The ambiguity arises with undated documents developed jointly across several sittings, where nobody can later say which sentences came from where. That is a reason to keep the records in the order described on this page, quite apart from any question of measurement.

One provider researched for this project advertises completed assessed work at a fixed price. For a student that is a malpractice exposure capable of ending a qualification, and it is not a service any reputable tutor should be near. IB Gram does not supply assessed work, does not sell model answers for submission, and does not reproduce or distribute syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes. Those are published by the awarding body and should be obtained from cambridgeinternational.org or through the school.

09

What the record protects when something changes

Dubai is a city where things change mid-course more often than in most places. A family relocates between emirates, a parent's job moves, a school place opens at a better-matched school in January, a tutor returns to their home country at short notice. Each of those events can cost a term of diagnostic work, and each of them costs nothing if the record is portable.

A replacement tutor who is handed a recall scorecard and two question-type splits starts by diagnosing rather than by rediscovering. The first session goes on the missing elements already identified instead of on three weeks of cautious assessment, and the family does not pay twice for the same information. The same applies to a school. A new teacher receiving a student in January with evidence of what has and has not stuck is in a far better position than one receiving a cheerful summary.

There is a forecast-grade dimension as well. Schools produce forecast grades from the evidence they hold, and for a student who joined late or has had an interrupted year the school may hold very little. A folder of dated, marked, timed work is not a substitute for school assessment and should never be presented as one, but it is reasonable material to put in front of a teacher who is making a judgement with thin information. Ask rather than assume, and accept the school's answer. The quieter benefit is to the student. A child who has watched their own missing elements get named, repaired and then checked again has a reason to believe the work is doing something, and that belief survives a bad mock in a way that general encouragement does not.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

The area a Dubai family lives in used to determine which tutors were reachable. It now determines only when a session can start and how long a school bus takes. These notes cover both.

Palm Jumeirah

A single access route and a long bus journey to most school clusters, so arrivals home are late and variable. A fixed later evening slot is more durable here than an after-school one, and removing a tutor's drive removes the larger of the two delays.

Jumeirah Lakes Towers

Tower living with strong connectivity and shared study space. The practical requirement is an agreed quiet hour rather than better equipment, because a scorecard check needs the student able to speak without an audience.

The Springs

Established villa community with short runs to several schools, which makes a 4.30pm or 5pm start realistic. Families here often run two children on different school timetables, so the slot is usually set by the later finisher.

The Meadows

Similar catchment to The Springs with slightly longer journeys. Students arrive home with the day still on them, and a short recall check works better as an opener than launching straight into a timed answer.

Emirates Living

A spread of school destinations across the western corridor. Weekend sessions hold more reliably than weekday ones during the mock period, when school examinations occupy the afternoons.

Barsha Heights

Dense apartment district close to several school bus routes, so finish times are predictable. The limiting factor is acoustics rather than bandwidth; headphones with a boom microphone solve the whole problem for very little.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Newer community with long journeys to the established school belt. Evidence collection here benefits from a weekend slot, because a timed answer written after a ninety-minute bus ride is not a fair baseline.

International City

High-density housing with students travelling considerable distances to school. In-home tutoring has always carried a travel premium into this district, and online removes it along with the scheduling risk attached to it.

School ecosystem

Palm Jumeirah, JLT and Emirates Living

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Start with the code, the series and a real mark

The syllabus code off the school entry form, the series the school is entering, and the last mark with the paper it came from. A percentage with no paper attached cannot be split by question type, which means it cannot be used to plan anything. These three facts take a minute to find and save a session.

  2. 02

Build the baseline before any teaching

The free trial lesson, one per subject with no payment details taken beforehand, produces a short answer of two question types plus a cold check on one study. That is the week-one row in both scorecards. Without it, every later script looks reasonable and nothing can be compared.

  3. 03

    Set the recall intervals explicitly

Two to three weeks for topic strands, weekly for research design, monthly for data and ethics. Written down, not remembered. A check that happens when it feels due will drift towards the material the student likes, which is exactly the material that needed checking least.

Split every marked paper by question type

Ten minutes with a mark scheme turns a total into a diagnosis. The session that follows works on the two largest losses and introduces one rule, which is then tested on the next paper. More than one rule per session is a list, and lists do not survive examination conditions.

Audit, then revise, in the final six weeks

Two whole timed papers, marked, both scorecards brought up to date, and the remaining sessions directed by what the audit exposes rather than by a revision plan written in advance. No new topic in the last fortnight, under any circumstances.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Two records, both readable by a non-specialist

A recall scorecard and a question-type split are short enough to read in five minutes and specific enough to act on. Neither requires a parent to understand psychology, which is the whole point of measuring rather than asking for an opinion.

Marks split by question type, not reported as a total

Two students on the same total frequently need opposite work. Apply and evaluate questions hold the marks that separate the middle of the range from the top, and they fail for reasons unrelated to how much content has been revised.

The record is portable by design

Scorecards and marked scripts live in a folder the family controls. In a city where families relocate between emirates and tutors leave at short notice, a portable record is the difference between a handover and a restart.

Rates are attributed, never presented as ours

In-home figures on this page belong to Bestimate and to independent providers, read in October 2026. They describe the market. IB Gram's own rate depends on level, length and format, and the trial lesson plus a short consultation is the honest route to it.

The availability position is qualitative and stated

0266 is a small entry in this region and we say so rather than publishing a tutor headcount nobody could verify. Where no specialist who has examined the syllabus is free, the alternatives are named before any money is taken.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Do 0266 tutors in Dubai travel to the student's home?+

Some providers in the Dubai market do offer in-home visits, and the published rates reflect the travel: Bestimate's table shows AED 180 to 350 an hour and independent home tutors AED 200 to 500, with monthly in-home packages advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. For 0266 the trade is favourable, because the subject is a small option entry and filtering an already thin pool of specialists by driving distance usually means losing the specialist.

What should the first 0266 progress record contain?+

Four things, all dated from week one. A short written answer for at least two question types, marked with the marks in the margin rather than only comments. A cold-recall check on one study, noting which of the five elements was missing. A question-type split of whatever recent marked work exists, even if it is a school test. And a stated interval for the next recall check. That is the baseline. Everything afterwards is a comparison against it, and without it every later script will look reasonable with nothing to measure it against.

How soon should a 0266 mark actually change?+

Later than most families expect, and in a predictable order. By week two the missing recall elements have names but no mark has moved. By week six cold recall holds on checked strands and the describe and explain questions improve, because a rule fixes them quickly. Evaluate and apply questions usually remain flat at six weeks, since those need a habit rather than a rule. By week twelve a timed whole paper is comparable to the week-one baseline. Anyone offering a particular grade from a fixed number of sessions is describing something they cannot control.

What is a cold-recall scorecard for 0266, and why keep one?+

It is a one-page table listing each study or strand, which of the five elements the student produced without a prompt, which was missing, when it was last checked and when the next check falls due. It takes four minutes at the start of a session. The value is the pattern rather than any single entry: method is the element students lose first, conclusion gets confused with findings, and the strand a student most enjoys is usually the one they describe rather than evaluate. None of that shows up in a report written in sentences.

My child's 0266 school report says good effort. Is that evidence?+

It is evidence of effort, which is real and worth knowing, but it is not evidence about marks. Effort and attitude are what a subject teacher with a large class can observe reliably. What they rarely have time to produce is a per-question-type breakdown of a marked script, which is the thing that tells a family where marks are actually going. Ask the school for the marked script rather than the grade, particularly after mocks. A script with marks in the margin and a mark scheme beside it can be split by question type in about ten minutes.

How do I check 0266 progress if I do not know the subject myself?+

Four checks, none of which need subject knowledge. Ask for the last three dated scorecard entries and see whether the missing element changed; if it is the same after three checks, the remedy is not working. Ask for the question-type split from the latest paper and which two types the next session targets. Open a marked script and look for marks in the margin rather than only encouraging comments. And ask what the student wrote during the last session. If the answer is nothing, the hour was a conversation.

Should we collect 0266 evidence during the school mock fortnight?+

Collect it, but do not create more of it. The mock period is the best evidence-gathering opportunity in the year because the school has already produced timed scripts under proper conditions and marked them against a scheme. Ask for the script back rather than only the mark, and ask twice if necessary. What should not happen is a tutor setting additional timed papers on top of school examinations, because the student then does neither properly and the resulting marks measure fatigue rather than attainment.

What happens to the 0266 records when we change tutor?+

They stay with the family, which is why they live in a shared folder rather than in a tutor's notebook. A replacement tutor reads the recall scorecard and the last two question-type splits and spends the first session diagnosing rather than rediscovering. Without that handover a new tutor typically spends two or three sessions assessing cautiously, and the family pays a second time for information it already owned. The same applies when a child changes school mid-year, moves to another emirate, or leaves the UAE part-way through Year 11.

Can I see a 0266 tutor's marking before I commit to a block?+

You should, and the trial lesson is where it happens. One free trial per subject, with no payment details taken beforehand, should end with a short piece of your child's own writing marked and returned with marks in the margin. That single page tells you more about the tutor than any introduction: whether they mark to a scheme or to a general impression, whether they can name the question type, and whether the feedback is specific enough to act on. A tutor unwilling to produce a marked page in an hour is telling you something useful.

How many marked 0266 papers should we have by February before the exam?+

Fewer complete papers than families imagine, and more marked individual answers. Two whole timed papers in the final six weeks is the usual target, because a full paper is expensive in time for both student and tutor and its main value is timing evidence. What should be plentiful by February is marked individual answers across all six question types, so the scorecard has enough entries per type to show a trend rather than a single data point. Quality of marking matters more than volume of paper.

Does the 0266 evidence file help with a school forecast grade?+

It can inform a conversation, and it is not a substitute for school assessment. Schools build forecast grades from evidence they hold themselves, and for a student who joined late or had an interrupted year that evidence can be thin. A folder of dated, timed, marked work is reasonable material to put in front of a teacher making a judgement with limited information. Present it as context rather than as a claim, ask rather than assume, and accept the school's decision; the forecast is theirs to make and no tutor has standing in it.

What does an in-home 0266 session cost in Dubai compared with online?+

Published Dubai figures read in October 2026 put in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour on Bestimate's table, with independent home tutors between AED 200 and 500. Qualified online one-to-one sits lower, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. The gap is travel rather than teaching quality. A tutor crossing the city at five in the afternoon spends close to two hours on a sixty-minute lesson, and that time appears in the rate whether or not it is itemised. Those are other providers' published figures, not IB Gram prices.

Why is a 0266 specialist hard to find near our part of Dubai?+

Because supply is not even across subjects. Mathematics and the sciences are taught in every school in the emirate, so the pool of experienced tutors is deep everywhere. IGCSE Psychology is an option subject with a small entry concentrated in a minority of schools, so the number of people in the region who have taken a cohort through 0266 to examination is limited. Filtering that small group by who can reach one particular address during Dubai rush hour frequently leaves nobody, and the usual consequence is a capable generalist reading ahead of the student.

Can 0266 sessions keep running if we relocate from Dubai to another emirate?+

Yes, with no change to the tutor or the records, because delivery is over live video rather than tied to an address. What does change is the regulator overseeing the new school: Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under ADEK, Sharjah under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah under its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the federal Ministry of Education. Confirm with the new school which board and syllabus code it enters, since a move can change the examination board even when the subject stays the same.

Ask for three dated entries

If you take one thing from this page, make it a question you can ask any tutor in Dubai: show me the last three dated entries on my child's recall scorecard, and tell me which two question types the next session will target. A tutor doing the work will answer in under a minute. Send us the syllabus code, the series and the most recent marked paper, take the free trial lesson, one per subject with no payment details taken beforehand, and you will have a baseline row in both scorecards by the end of the hour.
