IB Home Tutor in Hili

Hiring an IB home tutor in Hili works or fails on timing. The same hour buys content in October, technique in February and triage in April, and families who book without a date in mind usually buy the wrong one. This page is organised around the calendar: what the next eight weeks have to achieve, where the Diploma's real deadlines sit, and how a Hili school run limits the slot. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Planned backwards from internal school deadlines, not from the exam month
  • Live one-to-one video only; IB Gram runs no home visits in the UAE
  • Hili sits under ADEK, which licenses and accredits Abu Dhabi private schools
  • No IB exam dates published here; the IB's own site is the only source

IB & IGCSE in Hili

Start from the date, not from the subject

Almost every tutoring decision a Hili family makes is really a decision about when. A Diploma student in the first term of Year 12 who starts weekly tuition is buying foundation repair and study habits, and that purchase pays over eighteen months. A student starting in the second term of Year 13 is buying paper technique and question selection, and that purchase pays in weeks. The hourly rate is identical. The product is not, and a tutor who treats October and March the same way is not planning anything.

Hili sits north of central Al Ain, towards the archaeological park and the Oman road, and the distance to the southern school cluster is long enough to matter to this calendar. For many Hili students the school day plus the journey home rules out a four o'clock start on weekdays, which pushes sessions later into the evening and reduces how many a week are realistic. That is a scheduling fact with a planning consequence: a Hili family has fewer usable slots than a central Al Ain family, so each one has to be aimed better.

Al Ain is part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so the regulator is ADEK, the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. ADEK's published inspection record is the thing to read before trusting a school's own account of its Diploma results, and it is also the right place to check which programmes a school is actually licensed to deliver. None of the competitor pages reviewed for this project mentions ADEK at all.

One honest limitation up front. This page publishes no IB exam or results dates. The IB's own site blocks automated access, which means no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and a date that is wrong by a week on a tutoring page is worse than no date. UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session; for anything more precise, ask the school's Diploma coordinator or read the IB's own assessment pages. Cambridge and Pearson dates, which are sourced, appear further down.

IB Gram's delivery is one-to-one live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. For a Hili family with a long school run and a narrow evening window, the online format is not a compromise on the calendar question, it is the thing that makes the calendar workable: a session can begin the minute a student sits down, and it can move when a mock week or a travel week moves.

Nothing on this page requires you to hire us. The eight-week table, the backwards calendar and the board dates all work on a tutor you find yourself in Al Ain, and a Hili family who uses them to hire well locally has still got the value out of reading it.

At a glance

  • An hour eight weeks out buys technique; an hour eight months out buys content
  • Internal school deadlines for the Internal Assessment constrain planning more than exam dates
  • A long Hili school run usually removes the weekday four o'clock slot
  • UAE candidates sit the May IB session; Cambridge runs June and November, never February/March
  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Each part of the IB continuum has its own calendar pressure, and the point at which tuition is worth buying differs sharply between them. These are the three a Hili family is likely to be inside, plus the coursework strand that sits across them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Every subject combines internally assessed work with externally marked papers, and the two run on different clocks. The internal work has school-set deadlines across Year 12 and early Year 13; the papers all land in one window. Planning that treats them as one timeline is the usual cause of a bad spring.

For Hili students the binding constraint is the week, not the year. A long commute and a full Diploma workload leave perhaps two usable evening slots, so the calendar has to decide what those slots are for at each stage. Al Ain's private-school set is smaller than Abu Dhabi island's, which also means Higher Level science and less common language teaching is thin locally; booking those early in Year 12 rather than in the spring of Year 13 is the difference between a specialist and whoever is left.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria marked out of eight, with the Personal Project in the final year. There is no external paper for most students, so the calendar is driven entirely by school reporting cycles and the Personal Project deadline. That makes the Middle Years the easiest stage to plan tuition for and the stage at which families most often leave it too long.

The Personal Project deadline is the one date a Hili family should put in the calendar two terms early. It is a process assessment, so the marks come from documented planning and reflection rather than from a strong final product, and support that arrives in the last fortnight cannot create the record the criteria want. Two short sessions in the autumn term are worth more than ten in the spring.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1-Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary inquiry with the Exhibition in the final year and no external assessment. The useful calendar question in the Primary Years is not when exams are but when a specific skill gap becomes a barrier, which is usually at the transition into the Middle Years. Reading stamina, written structure and number fluency are the three worth watching.

For Hili primary families the best-timed intervention is the summer before Year 7 rather than during it. A short block then, before the Middle Years workload begins and while the week still has space in it, prevents the problem that otherwise surfaces in Year 9 reports. Once a Hili student is commuting to a senior school with a long day, there is far less room in the week to fix anything.

CoreDiploma year one into year two

Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

The coursework strand runs on school-set internal deadlines that most parents never see written down. Each piece is marked against published criteria, and the single most expensive mistake is a methodology or research question chosen in week one that cannot support the analysis the criteria demand in week ten. Support here is reading, questioning and feedback on the student's own drafts.

Ask the Diploma coordinator for the school's internal deadline list at the start of Year 12 and build the tutoring plan from that, not from the exam window. Those dates are the ones that actually compress a Hili student's spring, because they arrive while subject teaching is still running at full pace. Four to six well-timed hours across the Internal Assessment cycle, most of them early, is the whole legitimate requirement.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Timing differs by subject, because the components arrive in different months and the failure modes are not alike. These are the Diploma subjects Hili families ask for, with the window in which the hour does most good.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Higher Level content runs to the end of the course, so content support stays useful later here than in most subjects. Paper 3 extended response rewards practice that cannot be crammed, which makes the second term of Year 13 the heaviest and most productive block.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics and modelling, with mandatory graphical calculator technique that is best drilled early and then maintained. The route choice against Analysis and Approaches has to be settled in Year 11, because switching in Year 12 costs a term that the calendar does not have spare.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms land late in the course, so a student can look secure until February and then meet the hardest material with no runway. Booking Chemistry Higher Level support in the autumn of Year 13 rather than the spring is the single best-timed decision in this subject.

Physics

HL and SL

The Higher Level extension topics arrive late and the data-question skills that carry easy marks can be fixed at almost any point. That split makes Physics unusually forgiving on timing: a short block on uncertainty and significant figures works even close to the session.

Biology

HL and SL

Content heavy and command-term sensitive. The useful calendar insight is that command-term work pays in any month, while content consolidation needs to happen before the final ten weeks. Students who leave both until April get neither.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries forming the Internal Assessment, spread across Year 12 and into Year 13 on school-set dates, plus diagram and evaluation technique for the papers. The commentary dates are the ones that catch families out, because each needs a current article and a real deadline.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral is scheduled by the school, often earlier than parents expect, and it is coached rather than taught. Preparation has a hard date attached, which makes it the component most worth asking the school about in the autumn term.

Business Management

HL and SL

A research project at Higher Level with its own internal timeline, plus applied framework technique for the papers. The project needs an organisation and a question agreed early; late starts in Business Management are the most salvageable of the coursework pieces but still cost marks.

Spanish B and French B

HL and SL

Productive skills under timed conditions plus a scheduled individual oral. These are the less commonly taught languages in Al Ain's school set, so local availability is thin and booking has to happen earlier than for other subjects, not later.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

An essay on a prescribed title with a firm internal deadline and an exhibition earlier in the course. Both are argued rather than remembered, so a small number of hours on how a knowledge claim is structured changes the grade and more hours add very little.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three plans built around dates rather than around subjects. Which one is right depends entirely on how many weeks are left and what the student has already done with them.

Long-run weekly plan, from Year 12

One session a week across eighteen months, aimed at content security and study habits rather than at papers. This is the plan with the best return per hour and the one that needs the least intensity, because it has time on its side. It suits a Hili student with only two usable evening slots a week.

  • Fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time across the whole course
  • Internal Assessment methodology handled when the school sets it, not later
  • Content gaps from the Middle Years closed in Year 12, where there is room
  • Fewest sessions lost to clashes because it starts before the calendar tightens

Ten-week technique block

Two sessions a week through the final ten weeks before a session, split between timed questions and marking. By this point content teaching is largely over, so the hour is spent on question selection, timing, command terms and mark-scheme phrasing. The block has a defined end, which keeps the cost finite.

  • Timed papers completed between sessions and marked in them
  • Component specific, for example Paper 2 extended response only
  • Scheduled around the school's own mock window rather than across it
  • Final fortnight shifts to the student marking their own work

Coursework window block

Four to six sessions concentrated around the school's internal Internal Assessment or Extended Essay deadlines. Front-loaded deliberately: most of the hours go on methodology and research question before any writing happens, because that is where the marks are decided and where late help cannot reach.

  • Built from the school's internal deadline list, not the exam calendar
  • Reading, questioning and written feedback on the student's own drafts
  • No writing, redrafting to completion or supplied material of any kind
  • Ends when the piece is submitted, with no rolling continuation

01

What the next eight weeks have to achieve

If a Hili family is reading this with a session eight weeks away, the plan is narrow and the table sets it out week by week. The governing principle is that content learning stops being efficient somewhere around the ten-week mark and technique work keeps paying until the last few days. Spending week two of eight on new content and week seven on mark schemes is the correct order; doing it the other way round is the common one.

The second principle is that the student does more of the work than the tutor. Two sessions a week with nothing in between is two hours of attention; two sessions with a timed paper completed and marked between them is a working loop. Hili students with long commutes have limited evening capacity, so what goes between the sessions has to be chosen rather than assigned by volume.

The third is that the last fortnight should get quieter, not busier. Families instinctively add hours as the date approaches, and the evidence from marked work usually says the opposite is needed: fewer new inputs, more self-marking, earlier nights. A tutor who proposes extra sessions in the final week without evidence from a paper is responding to anxiety rather than to the student.

Read the table as a default to be adjusted, not a prescription. A student who has never sat a full timed paper needs to start the paper column in week one regardless of where their content sits, because the discovery that they cannot finish in time changes everything else in the plan.

02

The Diploma year, counted backwards from the session

Nobody in this market publishes a Diploma calendar counted backwards, which is odd, because that is the form a parent can act on. The table below works in that direction: the milestone, who sets it, and what should already be true by then. It deliberately contains no IB exam or results dates, for the reason set out at the top of this page.

The most useful row is the first one. Internal deadlines are set by the school, not the IB, and they are the dates that actually compress a Diploma student's year. They arrive while subject teaching is still running, which means a student can be simultaneously behind on content and due to submit a piece of assessed coursework. Families who have the internal deadline list in September plan around that; families who do not meet it as a surprise in January.

The second most useful row is the mock window. Mocks are the only full-length diagnostic most Diploma students get before the real thing, and their value is almost entirely in the analysis afterwards rather than the grade. A Hili family should treat the fortnight after mocks as the most important tutoring purchase of the year, because that is the only point at which the plan can be redirected on evidence.

What the table cannot do is tell you how long anything takes for your child. A content gap in Chemistry organic mechanisms is a term; a command-term problem in Biology is three hours. Use the structure for sequencing and get the durations from a marked paper rather than from a page.

Cambridge and Pearson dates a Hili family can rely on

Where IB dates cannot be published here, Cambridge and Pearson dates can, because they are sourced from the boards themselves. Many Hili students take IGCSEs before the Diploma or alongside other qualifications, and one widely repeated claim about the Cambridge calendar is simply wrong for this country.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February/March series is offered to India only. A UAE family given a February/March entry deadline has been handed another country's calendar, and acting on it means missing an entry. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong timetable was used.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE exams are available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those past dates are quoted with their years precisely because the year is what makes them checkable.

The forward-looking rule follows from how boards work: Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them. So a page like this one names a series by its month and links the live official timetable rather than restating a future date that may move. Ask the exams officer at your child's school for the zone version and the confirmed entry deadline.

04

Ramadan, term dates and when revision actually happens

  • Move sessions to post-iftar timing rather than cancelling them during Ramadan
  • Shortened school days can free afternoon slots a Hili commute normally eats
  • The summer between Diploma years is the cheapest content-repair window in the course
  • Check internal coursework deadlines against school breaks before the term starts
  • Expect mocks to dominate the winter term and plan the analysis fortnight in advance

The UAE academic calendar has features that a generic revision plan ignores, and a Hili family planning a spring run-in has to account for them. Ramadan brings shortened school days and a different household rhythm, and it falls at a different point in the academic year each time, so in some years it lands squarely in the heaviest revision block and in others it does not.

The practical adjustment is to move sessions rather than to reduce them. Post-iftar slots work well for many families and a shortened school day can actually free afternoon capacity that does not otherwise exist, which for a Hili student with a long commute is a rare gain. What does not work is pretending the month is ordinary and then losing four sessions to fatigue and cancellation.

The second feature is the long summer and the mid-year break. For a Year 12 student the summer between Diploma years is the single largest block of uncommitted time in the whole course, and it is the cheapest place to put content repair. Families who spend it resting completely and then start tutoring in September have given away the easiest eight weeks available to them.

The third is that school term dates in the UAE do not always align with when boards set deadlines, so a submission can fall close to a break. Ask for the internal deadline list early, mark the breaks on the same calendar, and look for the collisions. Finding one in September costs nothing; finding one in February costs a weekend and a grade.

05

The Hili school run and the slot it leaves

Hili lies north of the city centre near the archaeological park and the Oman road, and many of its students attend schools in the central and southern clusters. The journey home after a Diploma school day with an after-school commitment is long enough that a four o'clock weekday session is not realistic for a significant share of them, and a five o'clock one is tight.

That has a direct consequence for in-home tutoring in particular. A tutor driving to Hili arrives after their own journey across the city, having finished a previous household, which pushes a weekday visit later still and makes the arrangement fragile. The UAE in-home market band of AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel included is partly a reflection of exactly this: the driving is real and someone pays for it.

Online delivery changes the arithmetic rather than the rate. A session can begin the moment a student is home, it does not depend on a route, and it can be moved to a Saturday morning in a mock week without anyone losing a journey. For a Hili student with perhaps two usable evening slots a week, those three properties are worth more than the room the lesson happens in.

IB Gram does not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE, and that is worth repeating here rather than implying. If an adult physically present is what your child needs, that is a legitimate requirement and the right move is to hire locally, book the latest slot the tutor has and ask what happens when the drive runs long.

06

Online one-to-one against an in-home visit in Hili

Because the search term says home tutor, here is the comparison on the merits, written around the thing this page is about: whether the plan survives the calendar. Cost appears in the table but it is not the deciding row for a Hili family, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

The deciding row is sessions delivered. A plan that loses one weekday session a month to traffic, a late finish or a clash delivers roughly thirty sessions across a school year instead of forty, and ten sessions is a whole technique block. Reliability compounds in a way that a slightly better learning environment does not.

The second deciding row is movement. Mock weeks, Ramadan timings, travel and family events all require sessions to move, and an in-home arrangement moves badly because it is pinned to a driving route serving several households. An online slot moves in a message. Over an eighteen-month Diploma that flexibility is worth several weeks of teaching.

The third is match. Al Ain's smaller private-school set means Higher Level sciences and the less common languages are thin locally, so an in-home arrangement in Hili often means the right availability with the wrong specialism. Online matching inverts that: the specialism is fixed first and the slot is negotiated second, which is the correct order when a calendar is tight.

One row deserves a caveat. Some students genuinely work better with an adult in the room, and for them the in-home premium is money well spent even at the cost of a few lost sessions. The table is an argument about calendars, not a claim that online suits every child, and a Hili family should decide that part on their own child rather than on a table.

Coursework on a deadline, and the line a tutor will not cross

Deadline pressure is exactly when the academic-honesty boundary gets tested, so it belongs on a calendar page rather than in a footnote. The Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge essay must be the student's own work, and the IB treats a breach as grounds for withholding the Diploma. A family three days from an internal deadline is in the worst position to make a good decision about that.

What a tutor can legitimately do, even late, is substantial. They can explain what a criterion rewards, ask whether the method can support the required analysis, point out where a conclusion does not follow from the data, identify missing evaluation, teach citation properly and mark the student's own draft against the published criteria. All of that is teaching and all of it raises marks.

What a tutor cannot do is write any part of the submission, rewrite rather than comment, or supply a research question or dataset as finished work. The research behind this page found an operation selling completed Internal Assessments to UAE students at around AED 3,750. That is the thing a panicking family is most likely to buy and the single worst purchase available, because it risks the whole qualification the two years were for.

The calendar answer is to make the late decision unnecessary. Put the internal deadlines in the calendar in September, book the coursework hours early and front-load them onto methodology. Four hours in week two are worth twenty in week eleven, and they remove the week-eleven conversation entirely.

08

ADEK, the inspection record and what to read before you choose

  • Read the ADEK listing for a school's licensed programmes and inspection outcome
  • Teachers may not take paid private students from their own school
  • The MoHRE permit is free, lasts two years and is applied for in about two working days
  • No published fine schedule exists for unpermitted tutoring, so quoted amounts are unverified
  • No tutoring provider holds regulator approval unless it can show the permit number

Hili is in Al Ain, part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so the regulator is ADEK, the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. This matters to a tutoring decision in two concrete ways, and neither is mentioned by any competitor page reviewed for this project.

The first is verification. ADEK publishes what each school is licensed to deliver and the outcome of its inspections, which is the right source for whether a school is actually offering the Diploma and how it has been judged. A school's own website is marketing. If a Hili family is choosing between schools as well as tutors, the regulator's listing is where the comparison should start.

The second is the limit on who may tutor. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a code of conduct barring the same thing. Teachers tutoring outside school hours must hold that permit, which was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years.

It is worth being explicit about what IB Gram is not. We hold no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB or Cambridge International, and we will not imply one. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute; that is a specific thing with initial approval, a maximum six months to complete the permit and licence steps and annual renewal, and nobody operating online should be described as holding it.

09

What happens when the subject is not covered in time

Availability on a deadline is where transparency matters most, and no competitor page reviewed for this project discloses a coverage limit at all. Ours is straightforward: Al Ain's private-school set is small, Higher Level sciences and less common languages are thin in the local pool, and in the spring of Year 13 the specialists with good evening slots are already committed.

So the honest version of the calendar advice is to book the scarce subjects early and the plentiful ones whenever. Chemistry Higher Level, Physics Higher Level, Spanish B and French B should be arranged in the autumn term of Year 13 at the latest. Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Business Management and English can usually be matched inside a week at any point.

When we cannot cover a request, we give a date or decline rather than substituting. A general science tutor is not a Chemistry Higher Level teacher and a fluent speaker is not a language teacher, and the substitution looks like a solution for about a month. On a tight calendar a month is the whole margin.

This is a fair question to put to any provider, local or online. Can you cover this subject, at this level, in this slot, starting this week, and if not, when. A date is a useful answer. Yes to everything, in a city this size and this close to a session, is not.

There is a second kind of coverage limit worth naming: our own capacity in a given evening slot. Hili's usable window is narrow and it is narrow for everyone in the city, so the six to eight o'clock weekday band fills first. Families who can use a Saturday morning or an earlier Friday slot get a wider choice of tutor, and in the scarce subjects that choice is the whole decision.

Where we tutor

Hili and the Al Ain neighbourhoods around it

What separates these areas, for tutoring purposes, is not distance in kilometres but what the school run leaves of the evening. These are the neighbourhoods Hili families are compared with.

Al Jimi

Close to Hili and considerably closer to the central schools, so the four o'clock slot survives for many students here. The practical effect is one extra usable session a week over a term.

Al Khabisi

Central, with short school runs to the main cluster. Families here can run two weekday sessions comfortably, which changes what an exam-year plan can contain.

Al Muwaiji

Central and residential, minutes from several older private schools. Reliable early-evening availability, which is the window that disappears first in exam season.

Al Towayya

Villa housing with a strong Higher Level science cohort. The demand for Chemistry and Physics Higher Level here peaks in the autumn of Year 13, which is when the specialists get booked.

Al Maqam

Southern and spread out. The commute from the northern schools is long enough that weekday sessions realistically start after seven, so a plan has to work with fewer, later slots.

Zakher

Southern edge towards the Omani border, where the drive to the main school cluster is the longest in the city and weekend sessions carry more of the plan.

Falaj Hazza

Established and central, with short journeys and dependable mid-afternoon availability. A useful comparison point for how much of Hili's constraint is distance rather than workload.

Al Mutaredh

Adjacent to the central school cluster, with the shortest runs in the city. Students here can use a slot that a Hili student the same age cannot.

  1. 01

Send the date before the subject

Tell us when the session is, where the student is in the course and what the school's next internal deadline is. The plan for a Hili family eight weeks out is different in kind from the plan for one eighteen months out, and starting from the date rather than the subject means the first session is already aimed correctly.

  2. 02

Bring the mock paper, not the report card

A report grade says where a student is; a marked paper says why. We sort the losses into blanks, method errors, timing failures and mark-scheme phrasing, because each has a different fix and a different duration. Blanks mean content and a term; phrasing means three hours.

  3. 03

Free trial, which produces a dated plan

A full session with the tutor who would teach the course, no card required. The output is a plan with dates on it: what the next eight or eighty weeks contain, what is set between sessions, and when we check whether it worked. If the tutor is not right, we change the tutor.

  4. 04

Run the loop against the calendar

Teach, set, mark, review, with sessions scheduled around the school's own mock window and internal deadlines rather than across them. Sessions move for Ramadan timings, travel and clashes instead of being lost, which is where the extra ten sessions a year come from.

  5. 05

    Taper, do not escalate

In the final fortnight the plan should get quieter: no new content, the student marking their own practice, the tutor arbitrating. If anyone proposes extra sessions in the last week, ask which paper the evidence came from. Anxiety is not a diagnosis.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Plans built from internal deadlines

We ask for the school's own coursework deadline list and build backwards from it, because those dates compress a Diploma student's year far more than the exam window does and almost no parent is shown them in writing.

No invented exam dates

This page publishes no IB session or results dates, because the IB's own site is the only source and none has been confirmed in this project. Cambridge and Pearson dates appear with their sources, and future series are named by month only.

Scheduling that survives a Hili commute

Sessions start when the student is home, not when a car arrives, and they move in a message when a mock week or Ramadan timing requires it. Over a year that is the difference between forty sessions delivered and thirty.

Scarce subjects flagged early

Higher Level sciences and the less common languages are thin in Al Ain's pool, so we say when a request needs booking in the autumn rather than the spring, and we give a date or decline instead of substituting a generalist.

Coursework support that is front-loaded

Most of the legitimate hours on an Internal Assessment belong before any writing starts, on methodology and research question. Tutors read drafts, question and mark against criteria; they do not write, redraft to completion or supply any part of a submission.

Stated limits, including ours

No home visits anywhere in the UAE, no regulator approvals claimed, no guaranteed grades, and no statistic without a source and a date. The things a tutoring page refuses to claim are usually more informative than the things it does.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Hili: your questions answered

We are eight weeks from the exams in Hili. Is it worth starting now?+

Yes, if the plan is technique rather than content. Eight weeks is enough to fix command-term use, mark-scheme phrasing, calculation drills, question selection and timing, and those routinely carry a grade. It is not enough to rebuild a topic nobody ever learnt. So the purchase at this point is a block on named components, working from a marked paper, with a timed paper completed and marked between each session. The last fortnight should be quieter, not busier, with the student marking their own work and no new material entering the plan.

Which IB session do students at Al Ain schools sit?+

UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session, and Al Ain schools work towards it. This page deliberately publishes no IB session or results dates, because the IB's own website is the only reliable source and none has been confirmed here. Get the specifics from the IB's assessment pages or from your school's Diploma coordinator, and treat any tutoring site quoting precise IB dates with caution. What the coordinator can also give you, and what matters more for planning, is the school's internal deadline list for coursework.

Why do the school's internal deadlines matter more than the exam date?+

Because they arrive while teaching is still running at full pace, and they are set by the school rather than published anywhere a parent would look. A Diploma student can be simultaneously behind on content and due to submit assessed coursework, which is the situation that produces a bad spring. Ask the coordinator for the list at the start of Year 12, put it on a calendar alongside school breaks, and look for the collisions. Finding a clash in September costs nothing to fix; finding it in February costs a weekend and some marks.

Does a long school run from Hili really change the tutoring plan?+

It changes how many sessions a week are possible, which changes what the plan can contain. Many Hili students attend schools in the central or southern clusters, and after an after-school commitment and the journey home a four o'clock weekday session is unrealistic. That typically leaves two usable evening slots rather than three or four. With fewer slots, each one has to be aimed more precisely from a marked paper, and weekend sessions carry more of an exam-year block than they would for a family living beside the school.

Can IB Gram send a tutor to our villa in Hili?+

No. IB Gram provides no home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Hili students are taught one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. We say so before any booking because the search phrase is 'home tutor' and the format should not be a surprise. For a family with a long commute the online route also removes the two things that break weekday plans: the tutor's own drive across the city, and a slot pinned to a route rather than to your evening.

When should we book a Chemistry HL tutor for a Hili student?+

The autumn term of Year 13 at the latest, and earlier if you can. Two reasons. Organic mechanisms and the harder Higher Level content arrive late in the course, so a student who looks secure in October can meet the hardest material in February with no runway. And Al Ain's private-school set is small, which makes Higher Level science teaching genuinely scarce locally; by the spring the specialists with good evening slots are committed. Mathematics, Biology and Economics can usually be matched within a week at any point in the year.

How does Ramadan affect a revision plan in Al Ain?+

Move the sessions rather than cancelling them. Shortened school days can free afternoon capacity that a long Hili commute normally consumes, and post-iftar slots work well for many households. Ramadan falls at a different point in the academic year each time, so in some years it sits inside the heaviest revision block and in others it does not; check it against the plan before the term starts rather than during it. What fails is treating the month as ordinary and then quietly losing four sessions to fatigue and last-minute cancellation.

Do UAE students ever sit the Cambridge February/March series?+

No. Cambridge International's February/March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October for Lower Secondary. If a tutoring site quotes a UAE family a February/March entry deadline, it has published another country's calendar and acting on it would mean missing an entry. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used.

What is the single best-timed tutoring purchase in the Diploma?+

The fortnight after mocks. Mocks are the only full-length diagnostic most students get, and their value is in the analysis rather than the grade. In that fortnight a tutor can sort the losses into blank questions, method errors, timing failures and mark-scheme phrasing, and each of those has a different fix and a different duration. That is the only point in the year when a whole plan can be redirected on evidence. A close second is the summer between Diploma years, which is the largest uncommitted block in the course.

How many hours should a Hili family budget in the final term?+

Fewer than most families expect, aimed more narrowly. A ten-week block of two sessions a week is twenty hours, and that is ample if a timed paper is completed and marked between each one. What does not work is adding hours in the last fortnight. If a tutor proposes extra sessions in the final week, ask which paper the evidence came from. Market rates for a qualified online subject tutor run AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, so a twenty-hour block is a known figure you can plan rather than an open commitment.

Can a tutor help with the Extended Essay three weeks before it is due?+

Within limits, and the limits are the point. A tutor can read the student's own draft, mark it against the published criteria, ask whether the argument is supported, point out missing evaluation and teach citation properly. A tutor cannot write a sentence that goes into the submission, rewrite rather than comment, or supply material the student presents as their own. Three weeks out, the most valuable thing is usually structural feedback on what already exists. The deeper answer is to book those hours in the first term instead, where four of them outperform twenty later.

What does Pearson's documented timetable tell us about resit timing?+

That a November entry means a January result, which matters if a university or school deadline sits in between. The documented pattern: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so check the live official timetable before planning around any future series, and name the series by its month.

Should a Year 12 student in Hili use the summer for tutoring?+

It is the cheapest content-repair window in the whole course, and most families give it away. The summer between Diploma years is the largest block of uncommitted time a student has, with no competing coursework deadlines and no commute. Eight sessions across it, aimed at the two topics named in the Year 12 reports, remove the gap that otherwise surfaces in the spring of Year 13 when there is no room for it. The alternative is paying the same rate for the same work in February while three other things compete for the same evening.

How do we agree an endpoint so the Hili tutoring bill does not just run on?+

Agree the stopping condition before you start, in writing. It should be a named weakness on a named component, with a session count attached, and a review at the end of it. If the weakness has closed, stop or move to the next one. If it has not, change the approach or the tutor rather than adding hours. Plans without a review point renew by default, which is how a tutoring budget doubles without anyone deciding. An honest provider should be willing to tell a Hili family that there is nothing left worth buying.

Tell us the date, and we will tell you what the hours can do

An IB home tutor in Hili is a timing decision before it is anything else. Eighteen months out, the right purchase is a weekly hour on content and habits. Ten weeks out, it is a technique block on named components with a timed paper between sessions. Two weeks out, it is the student marking their own work while someone arbitrates. Send us the session, the school's next internal deadline and a recent marked paper, and the free trial lesson will come back with a plan that has dates on it. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and they move when your calendar does.
