IGCSE Tutor near me in Ajman

Typing IGCSE tutor near me in Ajman is a search about distance, and distance has a price. A twenty-minute radius around Al Jurf or Al Mowaihat at seven in the evening contains a small number of people who have marked the paper your child sits, and the narrower the radius the higher the rate for whoever is inside it. This page prices that trade in AED, names the subjects where no local pool exists, and explains what IB Gram does instead.

  • Every AED band on this page names the provider that published it
  • Subjects with no realistic local pool in Ajman are named, not glossed over
  • A tuition centre with premises needs its own permit; an individual tutor needs a different one

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

Proximity is a filter, and in Ajman it is an expensive one

A near-me search is a request for a shortlist within driving distance. It is a reasonable request and it has a cost that nobody itemises. Every kilometre you add to the requirement removes people from the shortlist, and every person removed raises the price of whoever is left. In a city the size of Ajman, with a specialist pool concentrated towards Sharjah and Dubai, a twenty-minute weekday-evening radius can reduce the field for a specific IGCSE component from a reasonable number of qualified markers to one or none.

The published numbers show the shape of it. An in-home one-to-one visit in the UAE is advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, on Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table at AED 180 to 350 and home-tutor listings at AED 200 to 500. The same calibre of teaching delivered online is published at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. The gap is the drive. In Ajman that gap widens, because the drive is longer than it would be for an equivalent family in Jumeirah.

The second cost is less visible and matters more. Narrowing by distance does not narrow randomly; it narrows against scarcity. The subjects where the local pool is thinnest are precisely the ones where specialist marking matters most: Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478 and the written practical science components. A parent in Al Zahya searching for a nearby 0606 tutor is likely to find either nobody or somebody whose only qualification for the job is being nearby, and the second outcome is worse than the first because it is harder to detect.

There is a third thing worth naming, because it is where the near-me search is actually right. Parents do not usually mean the same street. They mean someone who understands the school system their child is in, who is awake on Gulf Standard Time, who can run a session on a weekday evening in Ajman rather than at a European afternoon, and who knows what a school report from an Ajman private school actually means. All four of those are genuinely important and none of them requires a car. Three of the four are about timezone and context rather than geography.

IB Gram answers this search with one-to-one tuition over live video on Gulf Standard Time. There are no home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service offered only in India. That means we are not the nearby option and do not claim to be. What we are is the option where distance stops filtering the shortlist, so the person teaching your child is chosen on whether they have marked the component rather than on where they parked.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four ways an Ajman family buys IGCSE help locally, with what each one actually costs once distance and group size are priced in. The cheapest per hour is rarely the cheapest per mark.

LOCAL-1-1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Local in-home one-to-one

Someone drives to your address and teaches one child. The published band is AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included. It is the most expensive format per contact hour and the one with the smallest available pool in Ajman, because the tutor has to be both qualified on the component and willing to spend a working evening in a car.

In Ajman the realistic supply here is strongest in Mathematics and English and thinnest in the specialist components. If you are offered a nearby 0606 or 0478 tutor at a routine rate, ask for a redacted marked sample from that specific paper before agreeing anything, because the price is not doing the signalling you might expect.

CENTREAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Tuition centre group class

A fixed timetable at premises, usually in small groups, with a lower per-hour figure and a syllabus-paced scheme of work. It suits a student who is behind on content across a whole subject and does not suit one who needs a specific component fixed, because a group cannot be redirected to one child's error log.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. In Dubai, a training institute requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. Ask any centre which permit it holds and from whom.

SHAREDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Shared or neighbour-group sessions

Two or three children from the same community splitting one tutor and one rate. Per child it is the cheapest one-to-one-adjacent option available, and it works where the children are on the same board, the same subject and a similar level. Where they are not, it quietly becomes two half-sessions at a discount.

This is common across the Ajman villa communities and it fails for a predictable reason: one child is on Cambridge 0580 and the other on Edexcel 4MA1, so the papers and mark schemes differ and nobody gets a full session. Check the codes of every child in the group before agreeing to the arrangement.

ONLINE-1-1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

One-to-one over live video

The format on offer here. Published at AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor, with no travel component in the rate and no distance constraint on who is available. The trade is presence: for a younger child who needs an adult physically in the room, this is the wrong product and a local option is better.

For the Ajman exclaves of Masfout and Manama this is not one option among several. There is no rate at which a weekly inland round trip is rational for a specialist, so video is the only route to a 0606 or 0478 tutor at all. That is a geography fact rather than a sales argument.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Local availability varies enormously by subject, and it does not track difficulty. Below is where the Ajman pool is deep, where it is thin, and what a tight radius does to your choice in each case.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

The deepest local pool in the emirate. A twenty-minute radius around most Ajman communities contains several plausible options, so proximity costs you little here. The risk shifts to quality spread: ask which tier and which paper pair the tutor has marked, because 0580 Paper 4 is a different teaching job from Paper 1.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

The thinnest pool on this list. Few tutors in the northern emirates teach 0606 regularly and those who do cluster towards Dubai. A nearby option at a routine rate is more likely to be someone who has read the syllabus than someone who has marked it, and the difference shows up in the proof questions.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Scarce locally and getting scarcer as entries grow. Paper 2 algorithm design and pseudocode tracing needs someone who has marked it, and the Ajman radius rarely contains that person. This is the clearest case on the whole page where distance filtering produces a false choice.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Moderate local supply for the content, thin supply for the written practical component. Plenty of nearby tutors can teach waves and electricity; far fewer can train the experimental-skills paper, and that paper is where a diagnosable block of marks usually sits.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Reasonable local supply that visibly tightens in the spring term as the June series approaches. Starting in October gives you a genuine choice of nearby tutors; starting in March gives you whoever still has a Tuesday free, which is a different purchase at a similar price.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Broad local supply. The specific skill worth filtering for is extended-response marking, where linked reasoning earns marks and accurate lists do not. A nearby general science tutor will usually teach the content competently and leave that technique untouched.

English as a First Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Apparently abundant locally and genuinely scarce in the only way that matters. Many people present as English tutors; few can mark directed writing against the published bands. Ask for a marked sample with band references on it and most of the local field resolves itself quickly.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

Well supplied across Ajman and Sharjah at mid-band rates. The error to avoid is being taught 0500 technique while entered for 0510, which happens because the subjects sound interchangeable and are assessed on different criteria entirely.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Decent local supply, thin specialist depth. Case-study application decides the grade and most nearby tutors teach the content instead. A marked extended answer showing where the application and evaluation marks were awarded is the filter to apply.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Thinner locally than business studies, and the diagram marking is the reason. Correcting a student's own diagram for unlabelled axes, missing titles and unexplained shifts is the teaching. A tutor who presents finished diagrams is doing something else.

Accounting (Cambridge 0452)

Single tier

Modest local supply with a short seasonal spike. Format discipline carries the marks, so sessions are heavy on timed practice. Fewer total hours are usually needed than families budget for, which makes this one of the few places a tight radius does little harm.

Geography (Cambridge 0460)

Single tier

Reasonable local supply. Case-study specificity moves the marks and it is built mostly through structured recall work between sessions, so a fortnightly arrangement with a nearby tutor often does as well as a weekly one with a distant specialist.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three session shapes, priced per teaching minute rather than per hour, because that is where the real comparison between formats sits. All three run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

Forty-five minute focus slot

A short, single-objective session: one question type, one command word, one algorithm traced. It exists because the overheads that make a short in-home visit uneconomic do not apply when nobody travels. For a Year 10 student with a narrow technique fault, three of these across a fortnight will usually close it faster than one long session, and the total cost is lower.

  • One stated objective per slot, agreed before it starts
  • No travel overhead, so the short format is actually viable
  • Best for a single recurring error rather than a content gap
  • Annotated file saved and sent the same evening

Sixty minute standard session

The default: a question set attempted and marked, an error categorised, a named task set for the following week. It is the format most of the published rate bands are quoted against, which makes it the honest basis for comparing any quote you receive locally with any quote you receive online.

  • Attempt first, marking second, task third
  • Error tally updated during the session rather than afterwards
  • Reschedulable inside the month without a charge
  • Comparable directly against the published AED hourly bands

Ninety minute paper slot

Long enough to contain a full structured paper and its marking, which a sixty-minute session cannot. Per teaching minute it is the cheapest format available, because the settling and setup time is spread across more work. It is the right purchase in the term before a series and the wrong one in September.

  • A full paper attempted and marked inside one slot
  • Lowest effective cost per teaching minute of the three
  • Usually a weekend morning, when the house is quiet
  • Repeated on a parallel paper for a direct comparison

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

What a twenty-minute radius actually contains in Ajman

  • Specialist supply in the northern emirates concentrates towards Sharjah and Dubai
  • Evening drive time, not map distance, is the number that prices an in-home session
  • A nearby shortlist selects for short drives, which does not select for marking experience
  • The thin local market is a geometry problem rather than a quality problem

Start with the geography, because the geography is the argument. Ajman is compact, but the people who have marked IGCSE papers are not distributed in proportion to where families live. The specialist pool across the northern emirates concentrates towards Sharjah and Dubai, where the schools and the teaching jobs are. So a near-me search run from an Ajman address is, in practice, a search for whoever is willing to drive out from there on a weekday evening.

Drive time rather than distance is what matters, and weekday-evening drive time is a different number from the one a mapping app shows at eleven in the morning. The run between Sharjah and the Ajman communities along Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road does not reliably clear before seven. A tutor committing to a 7pm session in Al Mowaihat is committing to leaving at six and getting home around nine. That is a three-hour evening for one hour of paid teaching, and only a particular kind of rate makes it rational.

The consequence is a shortlist that is short in a specific direction. It contains people for whom the drive is short, which correlates with living nearby, which does not correlate at all with having marked Cambridge 0606 or Edexcel 4CH1. Parents experience this as a thin market and interpret it as a quality problem. It is a geometry problem: the filter being applied selects on the wrong variable, and the thing being optimised is not the thing that moves marks.

The table below gives realistic weekday-evening approach times from a Sharjah base to each main Ajman area, with what that does to the usable field. Times are indicative of ordinary evening traffic rather than guaranteed, and they are there to show the shape of the problem rather than to be quoted at anyone.

02

The scarcity premium, subject by subject

  • A tight radius damages scarce components, not difficult ones
  • The expensive failure is content teaching bought as technique teaching
  • A redacted marked sample from the exact component is the filter that works
  • No honest page can publish a count of tutors in Ajman; treat any such figure as invented

Once you accept that a radius filters on drive time, the next question is which subjects that filter damages. The answer is counter-intuitive: it damages the scarce components, not the hard ones. Mathematics 0580 has a deep pool, so a tight radius costs you choice rather than capability. Additional Mathematics 0606 has a shallow pool concentrated towards Dubai, so a tight radius can remove every qualified marker from the list and leave you selecting between people who have not taught the syllabus.

This produces a specific and expensive failure mode. A nearby tutor is engaged for a scarce component at an ordinary rate, teaches the content competently for a term, and never addresses the examination technique the paper is actually testing. Nobody notices until the mock, because content teaching feels like progress and a parent has no way to distinguish it from technique teaching without marked evidence. The money was not wasted exactly; it bought the wrong thing at a fair price.

The filter that fixes this is not geography and not price. It is a redacted marked sample from the specific component, which takes one message to request and about thirty seconds to assess. Either the sample shows mark-scheme points identified against a real paper, or it does not. Applied honestly, that question removes more unsuitable tutors than any other check available to a parent, and it works identically on a nearby tutor and a distant one.

The table sets out the local pool depth by subject with the practical effect on a near-me search. Pool descriptions are qualitative, because nobody can publish a tutor census for Ajman and anybody claiming to has made it up.

Price per teaching minute, and why the short session only works online

Hourly rates hide something useful. What a family actually buys is teaching minutes, and the proportion of a booking that is teaching varies enormously by format. An in-home visit carries arrival, settling, finding the right notebook and a courteous departure, which can take fifteen minutes out of a sixty-minute booking. A video session starts within thirty seconds of the agreed time because nobody is parking.

That changes which session lengths are viable. A forty-five minute in-home visit is uneconomic for everyone: the tutor cannot justify the drive and the family is paying a large travel share across a small amount of teaching. So the local market sells sixty, ninety and one hundred and twenty minute blocks, and a student whose problem is one recurring error gets sold an hour of general revision because that is the smallest unit on offer.

Online, the short format becomes available, and for narrow technique faults it is often the better buy. Three forty-five minute slots across a fortnight, each with one stated objective, will close a recurring unit-omission or a misread command word faster and at lower total cost than one long weekly session that tries to cover everything. Conversely, the ninety-minute slot is the cheapest per teaching minute and is the right purchase once full papers need to be attempted and marked in the same sitting.

The table converts the published rate bands into an effective cost per teaching minute across the common formats. The teaching-minute figures assume the overheads described above and are illustrative; the AED bands are the published ones, attributed earlier on this page.

The four things parents mean by near me, and which ones need a car

  • Same timezone and a real evening slot: available at any distance
  • School and board context for Ajman: available at any distance
  • Responsiveness and easy rescheduling: easier without travel, not harder
  • Physical presence for a young or distractible child: genuinely needs local, and we are not it

It is worth unpicking the search term, because most of what it asks for is available without proximity and one part of it genuinely is not. Four things sit inside it.

The first is the timezone and the evening. A tutor who is awake, available and sharp at 7.30pm Gulf Standard Time, after an Ajman school day and a commute, rather than at the end of a European working day. This is real, it matters, and it needs no car; it needs a tutor whose working hours are built around this timezone rather than around another one. The second is school context: someone who knows what an Ajman private school report means, which boards local schools enter, and that a child commuting to Sharjah gets home later. Also real, also available at distance.

The third is responsiveness: being able to reach a person quickly, reschedule without a negotiation, and get an honest answer the same day. Again no car required, and in practice an arrangement with no travel sunk into it reschedules more easily than one where somebody has already left the house. The fourth is the genuine exception: physical presence. A younger child who needs an adult in the room, a student with an attentional profile that works materially better in person, a household with no quiet space or stable connection. For those, nearby is not a proxy for anything. It is the requirement.

So the honest answer to a near-me search is a question back: which of those four do you need? If it is the fourth, a local in-home provider in Ajman or Sharjah is the right purchase and we are not it, because IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE. If it is any of the first three, the radius is costing you access to the people who have marked your child's paper, and it is costing you money as well.

05

Tuition centres: the other thing a near-me search returns

  • A centre suits a whole-subject content gap; one-to-one suits a specific component fault
  • A training institute with premises in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit
  • An individual tutor requires the MoHRE private tuition work permit, free for two years
  • IB Gram holds no regulator or board permit and operates no UAE premises

Alongside individual tutors, a local search surfaces tuition centres with premises and a timetable. They are a legitimate and often sensible purchase, and they are a different product from one-to-one in ways worth being explicit about before comparing prices.

A centre sells a paced scheme of work to a small group. That is well matched to a student who is broadly behind across a whole subject and needs the content covered again in order, with the discipline of a fixed weekly slot and other students in the room. It is poorly matched to a student whose content is largely in place and who is losing marks on one component, because a group of eight cannot be redirected to one child's error log however good the teacher is. Paying group rates for an individual problem is as inefficient as paying specialist rates for a fluency gap.

There is a regulatory difference too, and it is useful to know as a consumer. An operation with premises and staff is treated differently from an individual tutor. In Dubai a training institute requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit, obtained through initial approval followed by a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, with annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. An individual providing private lessons needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit instead, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Those are two different instruments for two different things, and a provider should be able to say which one applies to them.

To be plain about our own position: IB Gram operates no premises, centre, branch or office in the UAE, holds no regulator or examination-board permit of any kind, and makes no claim to any. Tuition is delivered one-to-one over live video. Any provider in this market implying a regulator endorses them should be asked to produce the permit number, because the permit is a specific document issued for a specific activity.

06

What a genuinely local tutor gives you that distance cannot

  • Physical presence for a young or dysregulated student is a real requirement, not a preference
  • Local tutors see the study space and the exercise book, which is diagnostic
  • For a deep-pool subject with a good nearby marker, book the nearby marker
  • The argument for video is strongest exactly where the local field is emptiest

This page has argued hard in one direction, so it should concede properly in the other. There are things a nearby tutor provides that no amount of bandwidth replicates, and a family for whom those things matter should buy locally without apology.

Physical presence is the main one and it is not sentimental. A ten-year-old who will not stay at a desk without an adult beside them is not going to be fixed by a better platform. A student who is genuinely dysregulated by screens, or who has a processing profile that works much better with a person in the room, is in the same position. A tutor who can take a pen out of a child's hand, turn the page, and sit in a short silence while something lands is doing something a camera cannot do, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling.

There are smaller advantages that add up. A local tutor can see the bedroom the homework is attempted in, which is diagnostic in a way a video call is not. They can be handed the actual exercise book rather than a photograph of it. They absorb household context without anybody having to explain it. For a family where the problem is as much organisational as academic, that observational access is worth real money.

The reason this page still argues for video in Ajman is narrower than a general claim about formats. It is that the specific subjects where IGCSE marks are most often recoverable, the scarce components, are the subjects where the local field is emptiest. For Mathematics 0580 with a nearby, well-reviewed tutor who has marked Paper 4, book them. For 0478 Paper 2 from an address in Al Zorah, the nearby option is unlikely to exist, and the honest alternative is a specialist on a screen.

07

When nothing nearby covers the subject: the fallback, disclosed

  • Thin combinations: 0606, 0478 Paper 2, and the written practical papers in season
  • A wait with a named date, a related specialist with the limit stated, or a referral elsewhere
  • No general tutor is presented as a specialist for a component they have not marked
  • Availability is confirmed before any payment, not after the first invoice

No competitor page in the researched set discloses a coverage limit, and several conceal non-local delivery behind an overseas phone number. Here is ours, stated before you enquire rather than after.

Some subject and component combinations are genuinely thin even without a distance filter. Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478 Paper 2, and the written practical science components at specific times of year are the recurring ones. When no tutor who has marked that component is free, there are exactly three honest responses and we will give you one of them with a date attached.

The first is a wait: a named estimate of when a specialist becomes available, usually at the start of a new teaching block. The second is a related specialist with the limitation stated plainly: a 0580 Extended specialist taking a 0606 student can do real work on calculus technique while being clear about what they have not marked, and you decide whether that trade is worth making. The third is a recommendation to look elsewhere, including at a local Ajman or Sharjah provider or at a tuition centre, which is sometimes simply the right answer.

What does not happen is a general tutor being presented as a specialist. You would find out in the marking, and by then a term would have gone and the window before the series would have closed. The whole value of being told a limit is that it arrives while you still have time to act on it, which is why availability is confirmed before any payment rather than after the first invoice.

08

Starting this week: what actually has to happen

  • One message with codes, tier and a photographed script is enough to start matching
  • Mainstream subjects typically match within a day or two; thin components take longer
  • First session free, then monthly with no joining fee and nothing prepaid
  • A technique fault closes in two to three weeks; a content gap takes a term, whenever you start

A near-me search is usually urgent. Something has gone wrong in a report or a mock and the parent wants someone on it now. So here is the realistic timeline rather than a marketing one.

Confirming what is needed takes one message: the subject, the syllabus code and component from the school's entry statement, the tier, and a photograph of the most recent marked script. With that, matching to a tutor who has marked the component is usually a matter of a day or two for mainstream subjects. For the thin combinations above, it can be longer, and you will be told a date rather than kept waiting hopefully.

The first session is free and is spent marking a question set rather than on introductions, so the diagnosis exists at the end of the first hour rather than the third. After that it is billed monthly with no joining fee and nothing prepaid, which matters when the decision is being made quickly: a fast start should not create a long commitment. Sessions sit between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on weekdays, with weekend mornings for timed papers.

What cannot be compressed is the work itself. A technique fault takes two to three weeks of marked practice to close, and a content gap takes a term, and no start date changes those durations. The honest version of urgency is to start the diagnosis immediately so that the fortnight before the mock is spent on the right thing, rather than to promise a speed the examination does not permit.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Ajman

What a near-me search returns depends on where in Ajman you are standing. The notes below are about realistic weekday-evening drive times from where tutors actually live, which is mostly Sharjah and Dubai rather than Ajman itself.

Al Nuaimiya

The best-served part of the emirate for a local search, because it is quick to reach from the Sharjah side. A twenty-minute evening radius from here genuinely contains options for mainstream subjects.

Al Rashidiya

Similar reach to Al Nuaimiya with slightly longer approach roads. Workable for Mathematics and English; the specialist components still drop out of the radius entirely.

Al Jurf

Long internal roads and an awkward run to the Emirates Road junctions make this one of the harder addresses to reach by seven in the evening. Quotes from nearby tutors reflect it, and the field narrows noticeably.

Al Mowaihat

Mowaihat 1, 2 and 3 sit far enough out that a Sharjah-based tutor is committing a real round trip. This is where the gap between the in-home and online bands is widest in Ajman.

Al Zahya and Al Tallah

Emirates Road access keeps drive times moderate, so the local field is better than the distance suggests. These are also the households most likely to need two boards covered, which halves the usable pool again.

Al Helio and Al Rawda

Established streets with short internal journeys. Good local reach for mainstream subjects and the easiest part of Ajman in which to add a second weekly session without a travel surcharge.

Ajman Corniche and Al Rumailah

Easy to reach but slow to park and enter during the evening, which adds unpaid minutes to any visit. For a one-hour session that overhead is a real share of the cost.

Emirates City and Al Alia

The longest evening approach in the emirate and the latest realistic start times. A nearby tutor here means somebody who lives in the same towers, which is a very small field indeed.

Al Yasmeen and Al Zorah

Low-density villas with easy parking and a long approach. Local options exist for mainstream subjects and effectively do not for the scarce components.

Masfout and Manama

The inland exclaves, where a near-me search has no useful answer for a specialist subject. No weekly round trip from the coastal cities is rational at any rate, which makes video the only available route.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman

Ajman city schools and the local tutor pool

Demand concentrates here and so does local supply, which is why mainstream subjects are reasonably served. Specialist components are not, and that mismatch is the single most common reason an enquiry from this cluster ends up online.

  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Ajman
  • Ibn Seena English High School, Ajman
  • Habitat School, Ajman
  • Ajman Modern School
  • Al Ameer English School, Ajman
  • Scholars Indian School, Ajman

Emirates Road belt schools

Villa communities with longer approaches and a wider board mix. Families here hit the radius problem earliest, because needing a specific board and a specific component narrows a small local field to nothing.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Pace British School, Ajman
  • The City School International, Ajman
  • Ajman Private School

Cross-border enrolment

Where the child is enrolled in Sharjah or Dubai, a nearby tutor has to fit into an evening that starts later. The usable local window can shrink to an hour, which excludes most of the field on scheduling grounds alone.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • The International School of Creative Science, Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah
  • The Westminster School, Dubai

Schools are listed as context for the Ajman market only; no affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Decide which kind of near you need

Timezone, school context and responsiveness are available at any distance. Physical presence for a young or highly distractible child is not, and if that is the requirement a local in-home provider is the right purchase. Being honest about this at the start saves a wasted month.

  2. 02

Send codes and a marked script

The syllabus code and component from the school's entry statement, the tier, and a photograph of the most recent marked paper. That script is the most informative document you own, and it means matching happens against a real error pattern rather than a subject label.

  3. 03

    Hear the availability answer

For mainstream subjects, matching to a tutor who has marked the component usually takes a day or two. For the thin combinations you get a date, a related specialist with the limitation stated, or a referral elsewhere. The answer comes before any payment.

  4. 04

Use the free session as a diagnostic

One full lesson at no cost, spent marking a question set on a shared screen. It produces an annotated file and a first error tally, so the diagnosis exists after the first hour. You keep both whether or not you continue.

  5. 05

    Choose the format on evidence

Short focus slots for a single recurring fault, sixty minutes as standard, ninety when full papers need attempting and marking together. The error tally decides which, not a package. Billed monthly, nothing prepaid, reschedules inside the month at no charge.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Distance stops filtering the shortlist

The person teaching your child is chosen on whether they have marked the component rather than on how far they live from Al Jurf. For Additional Mathematics 0606 and Computer Science 0478 that is frequently the difference between a qualified marker and nobody.

No travel inside the rate

Published in-home rates run AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included against AED 150 to 300 online. The gap is a drive, not a standard of teaching, and in Ajman the drive is longer than it would be in central Dubai.

Short sessions become viable

A forty-five minute slot is uneconomic for anyone who has to travel, so the local market does not sell it. Without travel it becomes the cheapest way to close a single recurring fault, which is what many students actually need.

Coverage limits disclosed up front

Where no specialist for your component is free, you get a date, a related specialist with the limitation stated plainly, or a referral elsewhere. No competitor in the researched set publishes a coverage limit at all.

No premises, no permit claims

IB Gram operates no office, centre or branch in the UAE and holds no regulator or examination-board permit of any kind. Centres with premises in Dubai require a KHDA Educational Services Permit; individual tutors require the MoHRE permit. We claim neither.

Local is sometimes the right answer

For a younger child who needs an adult in the room, or a household with no quiet space or stable connection, in-home tuition from an Ajman or Sharjah provider is better than anything delivered on a screen, and we will say so at the enquiry stage.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

What am I really looking for when I search for an IGCSE tutor near me?+

Usually four things bundled together. Somebody awake and sharp on Gulf Standard Time at 7.30pm, somebody who understands what an Ajman school report means and which boards local schools enter, somebody responsive who reschedules without a negotiation, and in some cases somebody physically in the room. The first three need no proximity at all. Only the fourth does, and it matters most for younger children and for students who work materially better with a person beside them. Working out which of the four you actually need is the most useful five minutes you can spend.

How far will a tutor realistically travel inside Ajman on a weekday evening?+

Less far than the map suggests, because the relevant number is evening drive time rather than distance. A tutor based in Sharjah faces roughly 15 to 25 minutes to Al Nuaimiya, 30 to 45 to Al Mowaihat or Al Zahya, and 35 to 50 to Emirates City in ordinary evening traffic. For one hour of teaching in Al Mowaihat that is about a three-hour evening commitment. Masfout and Manama are an hour or more each way, which means no weekly in-home arrangement there is rational at any rate anybody would pay.

Is there likely to be an IGCSE tutor within walking distance of Al Rawda?+

For a mainstream subject, possibly. Al Rawda and Al Helio have short internal journeys and an established local pool, so Mathematics 0580 or English 0510 may well be covered within a very short radius. For Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478 Paper 2 or the written practical science components, almost certainly not: that pool is small across the whole northern emirates and concentrated towards Dubai. The honest check is to ask any walking-distance candidate for a redacted marked sample from the exact component.

Does a nearby tutor cost less than one based further away?+

For an in-home arrangement, yes, because you are paying for less driving. Published in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 an hour include travel, and the travel share is larger for Al Mowaihat than for Al Nuaimiya. For online delivery the question disappears entirely, since the published AED 150 to 300 band carries no travel component and the tutor's location is irrelevant to the rate. The place a nearby tutor costs you more is choice: a tight radius removes qualified markers from the list and leaves whoever is near.

Are tuition centres in Ajman cheaper than one-to-one tutoring?+

Per hour, almost always, because the cost is shared across a group. Whether they are cheaper per recovered mark depends entirely on the problem. A centre sells a paced scheme of work, which suits a student broadly behind across a whole subject and benefits from a fixed slot and other students in the room. It suits badly a student whose content is in place and who is losing marks on one component, because a group of eight cannot be redirected to one child's error log however good the teacher.

Do tuition centres in Ajman need a licence to operate?+

An operation with premises and staff is regulated differently from an individual tutor, and the instrument depends on the emirate. In Dubai, a training institute requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit, obtained through initial approval followed by a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, with annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. An individual giving private lessons needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit instead, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Ask any provider which one applies to them.

Why is there no local tutor for Additional Mathematics 0606 in Ajman?+

Because the pool is small nationally and concentrated where the teaching jobs are, which is Dubai and to a lesser extent Sharjah. 0606 is taken by a minority of candidates, so far fewer teachers have ever marked it than have marked 0580, and those who have tend to be attached to schools that offer it. A twenty-minute evening radius around an Ajman address usually contains none of them. A nearby option offered at a routine rate for 0606 is more likely to be someone who has read the syllabus than someone who has marked the papers.

Is a 45-minute IGCSE session worth booking or too short to be useful?+

It is often the best buy for a narrow problem, and it is almost never available locally. An in-home visit carries arrival, settling and departure overheads that make a short booking uneconomic for the tutor and poor value for the family, so the local market sells sixty minutes and upwards. Without travel, a forty-five minute slot with one stated objective becomes viable, and three of them across a fortnight will usually close a recurring unit omission or a misread command word faster and cheaper than one long weekly session covering everything.

Is a tutor from my child's own school an advantage or a conflict?+

No, and in some emirates it is specifically prohibited. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the code of conduct attached to the MoHRE private tuition permit also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. That is press-reported rather than read from the current policy text, so verify it if it is material, but the principle holds everywhere. It is a conflict of interest for assessment and predicted grades, and it is not an arrangement to seek out.

What is the cheapest way to get IGCSE help in Ajman this term?+

In order of headline cost: a tuition centre group class, then a budget online tutor at the published AED 45 to 150 band, then a shared session split with another child in the same community, then one-to-one online at AED 150 to 300, then an in-home visit at AED 180 to 500. Cheapest per hour and cheapest per recovered mark are different questions though. For a Year 9 fluency gap the budget band is genuinely right. For a Year 11 component fault it buys somebody who has not marked the paper, which costs more in the end.

Does a nearby tutor understand the Ajman school system any better?+

Not inherently. What matters is whether they know which boards local schools enter, what an Ajman private school report contains, that private schools here sit under Ministry of Education supervision rather than KHDA or SPEA, and that a child enrolled in Sharjah or Dubai gets home materially later. All of that is knowledge rather than proximity. A tutor living three streets away who has never asked for a syllabus code knows less about your child's examination than one in another emirate who asked for it first.

Can I share a local tutor with a neighbour's child to split the cost?+

Yes, and check three things before you do. Both children should be on the same board, the same subject and a similar level, or the session becomes two half-sessions at a discount. The commonest failure in Ajman villa communities is one child entered for Cambridge 0580 and the other for Edexcel 4MA1, where the papers and mark schemes differ enough that neither gets a full hour. Also agree who receives the marked work, because two children need two separate records and shared arrangements tend to produce one vague summary.

What happens if no tutor near Ajman teaches the subject we need?+

You should be told, with a date, before any money changes hands. Thin combinations recur: Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478 Paper 2, and the written practical science papers at certain points in the year. The three honest responses are a wait with a named estimate, a related specialist with the limitation stated plainly so you can decide whether the trade is worth it, or a referral elsewhere including to a local provider or a centre. What should not happen is a general tutor presented as a specialist for a component they have never marked.

Is it worth paying more for a Dubai-based tutor than an Ajman one?+

Only if the Dubai tutor has marked the component and the Ajman one has not, and for scarce subjects that is frequently the case. Location itself is worth nothing. Marking experience on the exact paper is worth a great deal, because teaching a subject and training examination technique are different competencies and only the second moves marks on a structured paper. If delivery is over video the question collapses anyway: there is no travel in the rate, so a Dubai-based tutor costs the same as one next door and the choice is made purely on the component.

How quickly can a tutor start if we decide tonight?+

For mainstream subjects, usually within a day or two once we have the syllabus code, the component, the tier and a photograph of the most recent marked script. For the thin combinations it takes longer and you get a date rather than a hopeful wait. The first session is free and is spent marking a question set, so the diagnosis exists after the first hour. What cannot be accelerated is the work: a technique fault needs two to three weeks of marked practice and a content gap needs a term, whatever date you start.

Say which kind of near you actually need

If the requirement is an adult physically in the room, a local Ajman or Sharjah in-home provider is the right purchase and we will tell you so, because IB Gram delivers only over live video in the UAE. If the requirement is the same timezone, real school context, a weekday evening slot and a tutor who has marked your child's component, then the radius is costing you both choice and money. Send the syllabus codes and the most recent marked script, take the free first session, and decide from the evidence it produces.
