IB Tutor near me in Ajman

Typing "IB tutor near me" in Ajman produces a short list, and the reason is supply rather than search. This page sets out which Diploma subjects can realistically be staffed inside a small emirate, which cannot, what each of the scarce subjects actually assesses, and what one session fixes fastest in each. It also answers the question about hiring a teacher from your child's own school, which has a clear answer.

  • Coverage stated per subject and level, including where we cannot help
  • One-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time
  • No tutor described as an examiner without evidence we can show
  • First lesson free, with no payment taken before it happens

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

A near-me search is a supply question, and in Ajman the supply is subject by subject

Search for a local IGCSE tutor in most UAE cities and you get a long list. Search for a local IB Diploma tutor in Ajman and the list collapses, which surprises parents who assume the difference is advertising. It is not. The Diploma is a specialist programme, Ajman's IB provision is concentrated rather than widespread, and the set of people within driving distance who have taught Higher Level Chemistry to examination and marked an investigation against its criteria is genuinely small.

That makes the near-me question a different question than it first appears. It is not really about distance. It is about whether the subject and level your child needs can be staffed at all inside a twenty-minute radius, and the answer varies enormously across the six subject groups. Mathematics and Biology are usually coverable locally. Higher Level Chemistry, Psychology, Computer Science and anything in Group 2 beyond the common languages frequently are not, at any price.

So this page is organised by subject rather than by geography. For each of the scarce ones it states what the Higher Level material actually adds, where the marks go, what one session can fix fastest and what no session can fix. That is more useful to an Ajman parent than a map, because a map tells you who is nearby and tells you nothing about whether they have ever marked the component your child is about to submit.

Two local facts do matter, and they are not the ones usually published. The first is the evening: with many Ajman households having a parent working in Dubai or Sharjah, and some driving a child across the emirate boundary to school, the window in which a weekday session reliably happens runs from roughly 18:30 to 21:00. The second is the examination centre, which is a genuinely local matter and is discussed below, because it affects a Diploma candidate in a way a tutor's postcode does not. A third fact sits behind both: private schools in Ajman are overseen by the federal Ministry of Education rather than by an emirate-level authority, so the school-level information a Dubai parent takes for granted is less granular here, and questions put directly to the coordinator carry more weight than anything a listing can tell you.

One thing said plainly at the top. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Every lesson for an Ajman family is one-to-one over live video. That is why the subject rather than the postcode decides the match, and it is the reason this page can be honest about which subjects are thin locally instead of pretending the radius is irrelevant or that it is everything.

At a glance

  • Local supply is thick in Mathematics and Biology, thin in HL Chemistry, Psychology and Group 2
  • The teacher at your child's own school is the one local option to avoid
  • The examination centre is the local fact that actually affects a candidate
  • Ajman's reliable weekday window is roughly 18:30 to 21:00
  • Coverage is stated per subject and level, including where we cannot help
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Supply varies by programme as well as by subject, and the three programmes fail a near-me search in different ways. Establish which one your child is in before judging whether a short local list is a problem.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Each subject is assessed against four criteria, scored 1 to 8, with the criteria describing different skills rather than levels of difficulty. The programme closes with a personal project the student designs and documents. The teaching demand is wide rather than deep, which is why local supply here is reasonably good: a strong secondary teacher in the subject can work to the criteria once they have read them.

In Ajman a near-me search at this stage usually succeeds, and that is worth knowing because it tells you something about the Diploma result later. If a local list is short for Year 9 Mathematics, the problem is advertising. If it is short for Higher Level Mathematics, the problem is supply.

DP SLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme, Standard Level

Six subjects across the groups, with Standard Level courses carrying external papers plus an internally assessed component. A capable teacher from a British or Indian curriculum background can often cover Standard Level content competently, which is why local lists are longer at this level than at Higher Level and why many quotes you receive will quietly be for a tutor whose Diploma experience stops here.

The question to ask any local candidate is specific: which level have you taught to examination, and have you marked the internally assessed component in this subject? A Standard Level answer to a Higher Level problem is the most common mismatch in this emirate, and it is invisible until the first draft comes back.

DP HLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme, Higher Level

Where the near-me search fails hardest. Higher Level courses add genuine additional content rather than harder versions of the same material, carry heavier internally assessed demands, and are examined on depth. The pool of people who have taught a specific Higher Level course to examination is small nationally and smaller still inside one small emirate.

This is the level at which most of our Ajman enquiries arrive, and it is the level at which proximity is least able to deliver. A household in Al Rawda choosing between a nearby generalist and a remote specialist in Higher Level Chemistry is not choosing between convenience and quality; it is choosing between two different subjects.

CoreAcross both Diploma years

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Assessed through an exhibition of three objects with written justifications, a prescribed-title essay, and a supervised independent research piece. Supervision stays with the school. The outside contribution is questioning: whether a research question can be answered, whether an object illustrates the prompt it is attached to, whether a justification could be disagreed with.

Core support is the one area where local supply is almost irrelevant, because the work is documents and conversations. It is also the area Ajman students most often leave too late, since the core arrives in the middle of DP1 at exactly the point two Higher Levels get hard.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below, the subjects an Ajman near-me search handles well and the ones it does not, with what the Higher Level material actually adds in each case. Treat the thin ones as a reason to widen the search rather than to lower the specification.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL · usually coverable locally at SL

Standard Level is the best-supplied Diploma course in the emirate. Higher Level is not, because it adds proof, deeper calculus and content that exists nowhere else, and a tutor from an A Level background meets some of it for the first time. The marks go to method written down rather than held in the head.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL · thinner locally than Analysis and Approaches

Technology is central rather than incidental, so a tutor has to teach the graphic display calculator as an instrument rather than mention it. The lost marks are interpretive: a correct regression with no sentence saying what it means in context. Fewer local tutors have taught this route than the Analysis one.

Biology

HL and SL · reasonably coverable locally

The best-supplied of the three sciences, because the content maps onto A Level and IGCSE teaching more closely than Chemistry or Physics. Marks go to command-term discipline in extended answers and to the handling of uncertainty in the investigation, both of which need marked practice rather than explanation.

Chemistry

HL · genuinely scarce in the northern emirates

Higher Level adds substantial material and two separate failure modes that need two different drills: quantitative work failing on units and early rounding, organic work failing on pathway recall. The investigation's evaluation criterion rewards named instrument limits, not general caution. Few local candidates have marked it.

Physics

HL · scarce locally

The mark loss is cheap to fix once named — method unwritten, so a correct answer sits above one line of working — and the Higher Level extension material is where a generalist stalls. Data analysis and uncertainty carry criteria of their own in the investigation, and that is specialist marking rather than general science teaching.

Psychology

HL and SL · rarely available locally

Reads accessibly and is assessed severely, which is why families underestimate it. Marks sit in precise terminology, in command-term discipline, and in an experimental study whose design has to be able to test what the student set out to test. Very few teachers in a small emirate have taught the course.

Economics

HL and SL · moderate local supply

Diagrams are marked and most are drawn from memory rather than labelled to the question. Evaluation sits at the end of long answers and is the single most frequently unwritten set of marks in the subject. The commentaries reward one concept applied precisely to a current article.

Business Management

HL and SL · moderate local supply

The expensive mistake is an internally assessed component built around an organisation the student cannot get information from, which turns into weeks of rescue work. Testing that in week one takes twenty minutes. Content is accessible; the marks are in application and evaluation.

Computer Science

HL and SL · scarce locally

Two halves that fail separately. Theory needs exact terminology; programming work can run correctly and still lose marks because it was never explained. The Higher Level case study has a hard internal timeline, and starting late here is more costly than in any other subject.

English A and English B

HL and SL · reasonable local supply

Group 1 rewards analysis of how a text produces its effects, and the individual oral rewards a connective argument between two works. Group 2 rewards register, audience and text type. Local supply is decent, but a tutor used to IGCSE English frequently marks Group 1 work for fluency rather than against the criteria.

Group 2 ab initio languages

SL · effectively unavailable locally

Spanish, French or Mandarin from the beginning, assessed on productive and receptive skills in a language the student has had for two years. The pool is small nationally and almost nil inside Ajman. When a family needs this, a remote match is not a convenience, it is the only route.

Arabic and the mandatory UAE subjects

Alongside the IB timetable

Governed federally, with centrally set teaching conditions including the language of instruction and the requirement that classes for Arab and non-Arab students be organised separately. Families tell us this is the hardest stream to resource locally, and material cannot be substituted freely by a private tutor.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways an Ajman family uses a specialist who is not local, chosen by what the subject needs rather than by what is nearby.

Weekly Higher Level subject hour

A standing slot in one named subject at one named level, with a timed task between sessions marked before the hour starts. This is the arrangement for a Higher Level course where the content extension is the problem, and it is the one that produces a readable record: eight marked pieces show whether the targeted criterion is still scoring low.

  • One subject, one level, the same tutor throughout
  • Timed task every week, marked against the assessment objectives
  • A written note naming the criterion targeted and whether it moved
  • Held between 18:30 and 21:00 to survive the commute

A scarce-subject block

For Psychology, Computer Science, an ab initio language or anything else with effectively no local pool. These are usually bought as a defined block rather than as an open-ended weekly arrangement, because the specialist's time is the constrained resource and because the target is normally a named component or paper rather than general improvement.

  • A named target and an end date agreed before the block starts
  • Scheduled against the school's internal deadline, not from today
  • Coverage and match time stated honestly before you commit
  • No automatic continuation when the block ends

Marking and feedback only

The arrangement for a self-directed student in a well-supplied subject. They sit a paper to time, send it, and the session is spent entirely on the marked script and the criterion log. It costs a fraction of weekly teaching because the teaching hours belong to the student, and it is a waste of money if the independent work is not already happening.

  • One script a fortnight, sat to the real time limit
  • Marked against the published assessment criteria
  • A criterion log that accumulates across the block
  • Early, honest warning when the set work is not being done

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

The Higher Level problem: what the extra material actually is

Parents reasonably assume that Higher Level is Standard Level with harder questions, and a tutor who knows the subject can therefore handle either. In several Diploma courses that is wrong in a way that matters. Higher Level adds content that does not appear at Standard Level at all, plus a heavier internally assessed demand and examination papers that test depth rather than range. A tutor who has taught Standard Level to examination has not met a meaningful part of the Higher Level course.

In Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches the additional material includes formal proof and substantially deeper calculus, which is where a tutor from an A Level background can be competent and still be working from unfamiliar ground. In Chemistry and Physics the Higher Level extensions are the subject's hardest sections and the ones most likely to appear in the questions a struggling student cannot start. In Computer Science the Higher Level case study has an internal timeline of its own.

This is the single most useful filter available to an Ajman parent, and it is one question long: which level have you taught to examination, and have you marked the internally assessed component in this subject? Not which levels can you teach. Which have you taught to examination. The answer is checkable, it is specific, and the most common local mismatch in this emirate — a Standard Level answer to a Higher Level problem — becomes visible before any money is spent instead of in week five.

The table below sets out, subject by subject, what the Higher Level material adds, where the marks actually go and why the local pool is thin. Thin local supply is not a reason to accept a generalist; it is a reason to stop treating distance as the filter.

02

Group 2 and the ab initio problem

Language acquisition is where a near-me search in a small emirate fails most completely, and the failure is quiet because families assume a language tutor is a language tutor. A Group 2 Diploma course is not a conversational language course. It is assessed on receptive and productive skills against published criteria, with an oral built from a stimulus the student sees shortly before speaking, and productive writing marked on register, audience and the conventions of the text type the task specified.

An ab initio course compounds this. The student has had the language for two years, which means the marks available are tightly bounded and the technique matters more than the vocabulary. A native speaker with no teaching background will have an excellent conversation with your child and leave the marks exactly where they were, because the thing being assessed is the ability to organise a response quickly inside a known structure, not fluency.

What a session fixes fastest here is the shape of a spoken response: describe what is in front of you, place it in a context, take a position, extend it with an example, acknowledge an alternative. That sequence can be rehearsed until it is automatic, and it carries the time limit when the content runs out. For the written side, the drill is the same content written three times as three different text types, marked on whether each sounds like what it claims to be.

The honest position on coverage is that the common Group 2 languages are usually matchable within a week or two, and some ab initio courses are not matchable at all at short notice. When that is the case we say it rather than holding the enquiry open, because a parent who knows the gap can go and look in the right place — starting with the school, which may be able to arrange additional support internally for a course it chose to offer.

03

The teacher at your child's own school: the one local option to avoid

This is the most tempting near-me option and the one to leave alone. The appeal is obvious: the teacher knows the course, knows the school's internal deadlines, and knows your child. The problem is that the arrangement sits directly against the conditions attached to private tutoring in the UAE, and the exposure falls partly on a teacher who may not have read them closely.

The framework is this. Private tutoring is regulated by permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with eligible categories that include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. The permit carries a code of conduct, and that code has been reported as barring a permit holder from serving students affiliated with their own school. In Abu Dhabi, professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have separately been reported as prohibiting paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school.

Both of those are press-reported rather than read from the current policy documents, so verify the detail against the authority's own publication before relying on the exact wording. Ajman's private schools sit under federal Ministry of Education oversight rather than under the Abu Dhabi regulator, so the emirate-level ethics rule is not the operative one here — the permit's own conditions are. The direction of travel is clear enough in both cases that a provider marketing your child's own teacher privately is a reason for real caution rather than a convenience.

The table sets out the categories a parent actually encounters, the permit position for each, and how to check. Note the last row: a business with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor and needs its own educational services permit from the relevant authority. IB Gram holds no such permit and is not approved, accredited or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education or any emirate authority, and claims none of those things.

04

The local fact that actually matters: where the papers are sat

  • Ask where the candidate will physically sit the papers
  • Ask for the school's internal deadline calendar in the first term of DP1
  • Treat any date on a tutoring page as indicative; use the official timetable
  • No IB session or results date is published here, because none is confirmed

If you are going to let geography drive a decision, let it be this one rather than the tutor's address. A Diploma candidate sits papers at a centre, under conditions set by the examination administration, on a timetable administered through the school. For a family in Ajman that is a real logistical question with real consequences, and it is the piece of local information most worth establishing early.

Ask the coordinator three things, in writing, in the first term of DP1. Where will the candidate physically sit the papers. What the arrangements are if the student is entered as a private candidate for anything. And what the school's internal deadline calendar looks like for every internally assessed component, because those deadlines sit months before anything external and are the dates that actually shape a tutoring plan.

A related point for families who move boards. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why any date on a page like this should be treated as indicative and the official timetable consulted instead. For IB sessions specifically, this page publishes no date at all, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project.

The practical reason to settle all of this early is that it changes the shape of a tutoring plan rather than its content. A candidate with an internal component deadline in late January needs checkpoints in November, not a weekly hour that arrives at the deadline alongside them. The school's calendar is free, authoritative and the single most useful document in the whole arrangement.

05

What a session fixes fastest in each of the scarce subjects

The useful thing about specialist scarcity is that it concentrates the problem. When a parent cannot find a local Higher Level Chemistry tutor, what they actually need is rarely a complete course; it is one or two specific repairs that the school's small group has not had time to make. Knowing which repair you are buying turns an open-ended search into a defined purchase.

In Physics the fastest repair is written method: a student who understands the physics and writes two lines where five marks were available recovers those marks in weeks, not months. In Chemistry it is the separation of the two failure modes, so that unit handling and pathway recall get different drills instead of one vague revision plan. In Psychology it is command-term discipline plus a study design that can actually test the claim being made. In Computer Science it is explaining code rather than producing it.

In Group 2 it is the shape of a spoken response under time pressure. In Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation it is the interpretive sentence after a correct calculation. In Economics it is how to close an evaluative answer, which is the most frequently unwritten set of marks in the subject and takes two or three sessions to install.

The table pairs each scarce subject with its fastest repair, a realistic time, and the thing a session genuinely cannot fix. That last column is the one worth reading twice, because it is where families are most often sold something undeliverable: a short block repairs technique and cannot install a missing Higher Level syllabus, and no tutor can promise a grade or a points total.

SCARCE SUBJECTS — THE FASTEST REPAIR, THE TIME IT TAKES, AND WHAT A SESSION CANNOT DO

06

What proximity genuinely buys, stated fairly

It would be dishonest to write a page arguing that distance never matters, so here is the fair version. A person in the room can do four things a screen cannot, and for some students one of those four is the whole problem.

They can supervise. A reluctant student who will not begin work alone is a different proposition when an adult is sitting at the table, and no amount of video quality substitutes for that. They can read a room: the sideways glance that means the explanation landed, the fidget that means it did not. They can handle physical material directly. And they can be an anchor in a household's week in a way an appointment on a screen is not.

Against that, for a Diploma Higher Level subject, the nearby candidate is drawn from whoever can reach your district by seven on a weekday, and in Ajman that pool frequently does not contain anyone who has taught the course to examination. The choice is therefore not between quality and convenience; it is between a specialist in the right subject and an adult in the right room. For a student whose problem is a missing extension topic, the first wins easily. For a fifteen-year-old who does not open a book, the second does.

Where the honest recommendation is a local visiting tutor, we say so at the diagnostic. The published market bands for that option are worth knowing: a 2026 Dubai cost survey puts in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350 an hour and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500 once travel is inside the rate, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200 and TutorChase quoting AED 270. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, which is why the comparison can be made without a stake in the answer.

07

Credentials, examiner claims and what a listing cannot tell you

  • Ask for examiner status to be evidenced for the person, not the company
  • Treat any hint of access to marking or boundaries as disqualifying
  • "Approved" and "accredited" are claims nobody in this market can make
  • Ask which level they have taught to examination, and what they have marked

Local listings in this market compete on adjectives, and two claims in particular are worth treating carefully because they are easy to assert and hard to check.

The first is examiner status. A tutor described as an examiner for the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson may well be one, and a provider should be able to evidence it for the individual rather than for the company. We do not describe tutors as examiners on these pages unless that status can be shown, and we never use it to imply access to marking, to grade boundaries or to paper content, because that implication is false and the suggestion of it is a reason to walk away.

The second is regulator approval. No tutoring platform in this market holds approval, accreditation or endorsement from the International Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education or any emirate education authority, and "approved tutors" is the single most misleading phrase available on these pages. IB Gram claims none of it. A business with premises and staff needs its own educational services permit, which is a specific thing issued to training institutes and is not the same as an individual's tuition permit.

What a listing genuinely cannot tell you is the only thing that matters: which level this person has taught to examination, whether they have marked the internally assessed component in this subject, who marks the practice work and against what, and what the plan for the next three weeks is in terms specific enough to be proved wrong. Those four questions take ten minutes and they sort a short local list faster than any amount of reading.

08

How coverage is disclosed, and what happens when nobody covers the subject

No competitor researched in this market discloses a coverage limit, and several conceal non-UAE delivery behind a foreign telephone number. The disclosure here is straightforward. Mathematics at both routes and both levels, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English A and English B, Economics, Business Management and Psychology are generally matchable within a few days. Computer Science at Higher Level, the arts at Higher Level, some ab initio languages and Arabic as a first language take longer, and occasionally cannot be matched at all at the moment you ask.

When that happens you will be told, with the reason, rather than left on a list. That is more useful than it sounds, because a parent who knows the subject is nationally scarce can do three things we cannot: go back to the school and ask what internal support exists for a course it chose to offer, ask the coordinator whether another family is in the same position and whether a small group is possible, and widen the search knowing that distance was never the constraint.

Where we can cover the subject, the sequence is short. You send the subject, the level, the year group, a photograph of recent marked work and the two evening windows that genuinely work. We come back with a named tutor, their subject and level coverage, and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time. The first lesson is free, nothing is taken before it, and its purpose is a written diagnosis rather than a sales conversation.

And there is a version of this answer that recommends spending nothing. If the diagnostic concludes that the real problem is supervision, or that the student is carrying three Higher Levels they cannot carry, or that a component has passed the point where it can be repaired, you will hear it at the free lesson. The week-six review exists to produce the same answer later if the marked evidence supports it.

Where we tutor

What "near me" actually covers from each part of Ajman

The districts below are the ones we hear from. The note on each is about what the local pool and the household's evening really permit, rather than about distance in kilometres.

Al Nuaimiya

Closest to Sharjah and therefore to the largest nearby pool of teachers, which makes a local list longest here. It is also the district where a quiet room is hardest to find, so the constraint moves from supply to space.

Al Rashidiya

Central, with reasonable access from both Sharjah and central Ajman. A local Standard Level Mathematics or Biology match is realistic here; a local Higher Level Chemistry match generally is not, whatever a listing suggests.

Al Mowaihat

Spread-out villa district where internal drives are long enough to narrow the pool by a further step. Households here often need two subjects at once, which compounds the problem: two local specialists is a much harder ask than one.

Al Rawda

A high share of DP1 and DP2 students, and the district from which we receive the most Higher Level science enquiries. Demand concentrates in the same evening window, so a standing slot fixed in September is worth more than a shorter drive.

Al Jurf

On the Sharjah side, with long approaches from central Dubai and a correspondingly thin local field in specialist subjects. Later starts are normal, which removes the early-evening hour a visiting tutor would need to make a trip worthwhile.

Al Helio

Newer housing with younger families, so Middle Years enquiries outnumber Diploma ones and the near-me search usually succeeds. That changes abruptly at Year 12, which catches households out when a sibling reaches the Diploma.

Ajman Corniche and Al Zorah

Lower density and shorter school runs, so slightly earlier sessions are workable. Group 4 investigation enquiries dominate, and they arrive about three weeks later in the component's life than would be ideal.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman

Ajman

IB provision in the emirate is concentrated rather than widespread, and private schools sit under federal Ministry of Education oversight. That concentration is exactly why a Diploma near-me search returns a short list. Students we support attend schools across this group.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the subject and the level first

Higher Level Chemistry with the extension topics unstarted is a brief a specialist can act on. A local IB tutor is not. Send the subject, the level, the year group, a photograph of recent marked work and the school's internal deadline for any component in progress.

We state coverage before we state anything else

If the subject and level are matchable within a few days, you get a named tutor, their coverage and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time. If they are not, you get that answer with the reason, so you can go back to the school or widen the search rather than waiting on a maybe.

  3. 03

    A free diagnostic hour

No payment taken beforehand. The tutor works from the student's own marked work and reports in writing: which level this is being assessed at, which loss patterns are present, which are weeks of work and which are calendar problems, and what the next three sessions will target.

  4. 04

A plan specific enough to be wrong

Three weeks named target by target, so you can judge it by session four without any subject knowledge. Component work is scheduled backwards from the school's internal deadline rather than forwards from today, because several component faults cannot be repaired after the data is collected.

  5. 05

Weekly marked work in the right level

A timed task every week at the level actually being examined, marked against the assessment objectives before the hour starts. The written note names the criterion targeted. That record is what makes a Higher Level arrangement checkable rather than reassuring.

  6. 06

    The week-six review

Six marked pieces on the table and one question: has the targeted criterion moved? If it has, pick the next target. If it has not, the diagnosis, the plan or the match changes. If the evidence says the money belongs elsewhere, that is said out loud.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Coverage disclosed, including the gaps

No competitor researched in this market publishes a coverage limit. Here the subjects that match in days and the ones that may not match at all are both named, so a parent whose subject is nationally scarce can act on that rather than waiting on an open enquiry.

Matched on level taught to examination

The most common local mismatch in a small emirate is a Standard Level answer to a Higher Level problem, and it stays invisible until the first draft comes back. Matching asks which level a tutor has taught to examination and which component they have marked.

A national pool instead of a twenty-minute radius

Video delivery means the subject decides the match rather than the drive. In Higher Level Chemistry, Psychology, Computer Science and Group 2 ab initio courses, the nearby pool frequently contains nobody who has taught the course, so the radius was never the useful filter.

No examiner or approval claims we cannot show

Tutors are not described as examiners for any board unless that status can be evidenced for the individual, and examiner status is never used to imply access to marking or grade boundaries. IB Gram holds no regulator accreditation and claims none.

The own-school-teacher question answered honestly

The most tempting local option is the one to avoid, because the private tuition permit's code of conduct has been reported as barring a holder from serving students affiliated with their own school. We set out the categories, the conditions and how a parent checks.

Slots that match the real Ajman evening

Sessions sit between roughly 18:30 and 21:00 because that is when households with a parent working in Dubai or Sharjah are free, and shift later during Ramadan rather than stopping. A slot that cannot be kept produces no marked work and no evidence.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

Does it actually matter whether an IB tutor is near me in Ajman?+

For a Diploma subject, far less than the search implies, and for one reason: the nearby candidate is drawn from whoever can reach your district by seven on a weekday, and in a small emirate that pool frequently contains nobody who has taught the course to examination. What proximity genuinely buys is supervision, reading a room, handling physical material and being an anchor in the week. If your child's problem is that they will not start work alone, those matter enormously. If the problem is a missing Higher Level extension topic, the specialist in the right subject wins easily.

Why are Higher Level science tutors so hard to find in the northern emirates?+

Because Higher Level is not Standard Level with harder questions. It adds content that does not appear at Standard Level at all, a heavier internally assessed demand, and papers that test depth. The pool of people who have taught a specific Higher Level course to examination and marked its investigation against the criteria is small nationally and smaller inside one emirate with concentrated IB provision. Biology is the best supplied of the three sciences, because it maps most closely onto existing A Level and IGCSE teaching. Chemistry and Physics at Higher Level are genuinely scarce locally.

Can I find an ab initio language tutor near me in Ajman?+

Realistically, no, and it is better to know that at the start. The pool is small nationally and close to nil inside the emirate. It is also the subject where a wrong match does the least good: a native speaker with no teaching background will have an excellent conversation with your child and leave the marks where they were, because the assessment rewards organising a response quickly inside a known structure rather than fluency. If we cannot cover a specific ab initio course we say so, and the first place to go back to is the school that chose to offer it.

Can we hire a teacher from my child's own IB school privately?+

It is the most tempting local option and the one to leave alone. Private tutoring is regulated by permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, and the permit carries a code of conduct that has been reported as barring a holder from serving students affiliated with their own school. In Abu Dhabi, professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have separately been reported as prohibiting it outright. Both are press-reported rather than read from current policy documents, so verify the wording with the authority. Ask the school's own written policy first.

Where will my child actually sit the IB examinations if we live in Ajman?+

At a centre, under conditions administered through the school, and that is the one genuinely local fact worth establishing early. Ask the coordinator three things in writing during the first term of the first Diploma year: where the candidate will physically sit the papers, what the arrangements are for any private-candidate entry, and what the internal deadline calendar looks like for every assessed component. That last document matters most for planning, because internal deadlines sit months before anything external. This page publishes no IB session or results date, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project.

Which IB subjects can you cover at short notice, and which can you not?+

Matchable within a few days, usually: Mathematics on both routes at both levels, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English A and English B, Economics, Business Management and Psychology. Slower or sometimes not matchable at all: Computer Science at Higher Level, the arts at Higher Level, some ab initio languages, and Arabic as a first language. When we cannot cover something you are told, with the reason, rather than left on a list — which lets you go back to the school, ask whether a small group is possible, or widen the search knowing distance was never the constraint.

What does a local tutor give us that a remote specialist cannot?+

Four things, and for some students one of them is the whole problem. Supervision, because a student who will not begin work alone is a different proposition with an adult at the table. Reading a room, which is the sideways glance that means an explanation landed. Handling physical material directly. And being an anchor in a household's week in a way a screen appointment is not. Against that, the nearby pool in a Higher Level Diploma subject often contains nobody who has taught the course. Where supervision is the real need, we recommend the local market option at the diagnostic.

Is a tuition centre in Ajman a reasonable alternative for Diploma subjects?+

It depends entirely on whether the centre teaches that specific course at that specific level, which is worth asking directly rather than assuming. Group classes cover syllabus broadly and cost less per head — the published budget band in this market runs AED 33 to 65 per hour, researched October 2026 — and they cannot diagnose one student's loss pattern. For a Higher Level extension gap a group class rarely reaches the material. Note also that a business with premises needs its own educational services permit rather than an individual tuition permit; ask which one it holds.

How long does it take to match a Higher Level tutor for an Ajman family?+

For the well-supplied subjects, usually a few days, and the binding constraint is the slot rather than the subject: the reliable Ajman weekday window runs from roughly 18:30 to 21:00, and those slots fill first in the second Diploma year. For scarce subjects it can be a week or more, and occasionally it is not possible at the moment you ask. You get a straight answer either way. Families who fix a standing slot in September of the first year keep it; those who start looking in January take what is still open.

What single repair moves a Higher Level Physics grade fastest?+

Writing method down in sequence. The most common pattern we see is a student who understands the physics perfectly and writes two lines where five marks were available, because the reasoning stayed in their head. Marks exist for the method as well as for the answer, so unwritten reasoning is unmarked reasoning. Three to six weeks of marked timed work usually recovers it, and the evidence is readable by a parent without any physics: the same questions, with more lines of working and more marks. What that cannot repair is a missing half of the extension content.

My child takes Psychology — why can nobody locally teach it?+

Because very few schools in a small emirate have run the course, so there is little local teaching history to draw on. The subject also reads more accessibly than it is assessed, which is why families underestimate the hours. The marks sit in precise terminology, in command-term discipline across extended answers, and in an experimental study whose design has to be capable of testing the claim the student set out to test. That last one has a hard deadline: it can be fixed before the data is collected and not afterwards, which is why an early session is worth several late ones.

Does a tutor need a UAE permit if they teach my child from outside the country?+

This is a reasonable question and it deserves a careful answer rather than a confident one. The published position is that individuals providing private tutoring need the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and that those operating without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. The published material addresses tutoring in the UAE rather than setting out a cross-border rule, and we are not going to invent one. What we will do is tell you plainly where a tutor is based, which is more than a foreign telephone number in a footer does.

What should we do if you cannot cover my child's subject at all?+

Three things, in this order. Go back to the school and ask in writing what internal support exists for a course it chose to offer, because a department with four Higher Level students has options a parent cannot see. Ask the coordinator whether another family is in the same position and whether a small group or a shared arrangement is possible. Then widen the search knowing that distance was never the constraint, and judge any candidate on which level they have taught to examination and which component they have marked rather than on how near they live.

Is a generalist IB tutor ever the right choice?+

Sometimes, and it is worth saying so. For Middle Years work, where the demand is wide rather than deep, a strong secondary teacher who reads the criteria properly can do good work across several subjects. For Standard Level courses in well-mapped subjects the same can be true. Where it stops being true is Higher Level, because the extension material is specific content a generalist may never have taught, and the internally assessed component is marked against criteria that need to have been seen before. Ask which level they have taught to examination; the answer settles it.

How do we check a local tutor's claim to be an examiner?+

Ask for it to be evidenced for the individual rather than asserted for the company, and treat vagueness as an answer. Then listen for the second half of the claim, because that is where it becomes a problem: any suggestion that examiner status gives access to marking, to grade boundaries or to paper content is false and is a reason to end the conversation. We do not describe tutors as examiners on these pages unless the status can be shown, and never to imply that kind of access. More useful questions are which level they taught and who marks the practice work.

Say the subject and the level, and we will say whether we can cover it

The quickest way past a short local list is to stop filtering by distance. Send the subject, the level, the year group, a photograph of recent marked work and the two evening windows your household can genuinely hold, and you will get one of two answers: a named tutor with their coverage and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time, or a straight statement that this subject at this level is not matchable at the moment, with the reason. If it is matchable, the first lesson is free and produces a written diagnosis rather than a sales conversation. If it is not, you will know where the real gap is and who to ask next.
