IB Home Tutor in Seih Al Uraibi

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Seih Al Uraibi almost always have a deadline in mind and no plan attached to it. A Diploma does not respond to open-ended weekly help; it responds to defined blocks with a named target and an end date. This page sets out the eight-week unit, what each of the six Diploma terms is actually for, and how to read a mock. Lessons run one-to-one, live over video, on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every block has a named target and a date it finishes
  • Lessons run live over video; no tutor is sent to a UAE address
  • The mock is treated as evidence, not as a verdict

IB & IGCSE in Seih Al Uraibi

Plan in eight-week units, not in terms and not in years

Seih Al Uraibi sits on the inland southern approaches to Ras Al Khaimah city, with Al Dhait to one side and the city-area districts of Al Mamourah and Al Qusaidat to the other. Secondary students here travel to schools in Al Nakheel, Al Hamra Village or Mina Al Arab, which means a weekday evening starts late and the family's real question is how little time it will take rather than how much.

That question deserves a proper answer, and the answer is eight weeks. Not a term, because a term contains holidays, assessment weeks and two or three interruptions nobody predicted. Not a year, because nobody can hold a year's worth of intention. Eight weeks is long enough for a habit to change and a topic cluster to be rebuilt, short enough to be seen through, and it maps neatly onto the gap between one school assessment and the next.

The eight-week unit also makes the arrangement checkable. A block with a named target, a diagnostic at the start and a comparable paper at the end tells you whether it worked. An open-ended weekly slot tells you nothing, which is why it is the arrangement most commonly sold and most commonly abandoned two terms later with nobody able to say what changed.

IB Gram matches Seih Al Uraibi students to Diploma subject specialists and delivers every lesson one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send a tutor to a UAE address; home visits are a service we run in India only. In an emirate where a Higher Level teaching set may be one person covering several courses, a specialist matched to the subject beats a generalist matched to the map, and the online format is what makes that possible.

The sections below set out the eight-week block week by week, what each of the six Diploma terms is actually for, why Creativity, Activity and Service fails on administration rather than on effort, how to extract a plan from a mock paper, what a term of support costs in AED with the publisher named, and how to triage when the plan slips, which it will.

One note on dates. This page publishes no specific IB exam or results date. UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session and the board's own site is the only authority for the dates within it; your child's Diploma coordinator is the person to confirm them with. Cambridge and Pearson dates appear below where relevant, with their sources, because those boards publish them openly.

A last practical note before the detail. Blocks work best when the household agrees the slot before the first session rather than negotiating it weekly. In Seih Al Uraibi that usually means one fixed evening and one weekend morning, chosen around the school run and the activities that already exist, and written down. A slot that has to be renegotiated every week is the slot that quietly disappears in week five, and a block that loses two sessions out of sixteen has lost an eighth of what you paid for.

At a glance

  • Eight weeks is the planning unit; a term is too long and a year is notional
  • Every block opens with a diagnostic and closes with a comparable paper
  • Blocks finish two weeks before the deadline they were built around
  • Creativity, Activity and Service fails on paperwork, not on effort
  • Published monthly band for specialist exam-year support: AED 1,000-2,000 or more

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB programmes and one external route produce the planning questions on this page. The Diploma is the one with hard deadlines; the others are where the habits that survive it are built.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across Standard and Higher Level, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment with published criteria marked by the school and moderated externally. The programme is best understood as six terms rather than two years, because each term has work that only fits in that term.

Ras Al Khaimah candidates sit the May session with the rest of the UAE. The dates that control a Seih Al Uraibi student's planning are the school's internal ones, which sit earlier than the board's windows because the school needs time to mark and moderate. Ask the Diploma coordinator for the full internal list at the start of Year 12 and put it on one calendar.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups on a one-to-eight scale per criterion, ending in the Personal Project. The Personal Project is a rehearsal for managing a long piece of work against a deadline, which makes it the cheapest possible practice for the Extended Essay two years later.

The MYP to Diploma jump is steepest in mathematics and the sciences, where Diploma teaching assumes algebraic fluency the MYP does not require. In Ras Al Khaimah that gap is one eight-week block over a summer if caught in Year 11, and a competing priority all through Year 12 if it is not.

CPAges 16-19

IB Career-related Programme and other post-16 routes

Not every student suits six Diploma subjects, and the honest version of that conversation belongs in Year 11 rather than in the middle of Year 12. Alternative routes exist, including A Levels and the Career-related Programme where a school offers it, and a student struggling across five subjects may be in the wrong programme rather than short of tuition.

Provision across these routes in Ras Al Khaimah is limited compared with Dubai, which means a change of route can mean a change of school and therefore a change of commute. That is a family decision with a longer lead time than a tutoring decision, and it deserves to be made before a difficult first Diploma year rather than during one.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE as the route in

Most students in this emirate reach the Diploma through Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE. Extended or Higher tier in mathematics and the sciences is effectively the entry requirement for Higher Level in those subjects, so the grades out of Year 11 set the ceiling on the Diploma choices available.

UAE centres sit the Cambridge June and November series; the February and March series belongs to India alone. Pearson International GCSE runs in May/June and November. A November resit sits inside the first Diploma term and competes with it directly, which is a planning problem worth facing before results arrive rather than after.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each subject below names the work that belongs to a particular point in the two years, because a Diploma plan is a sequencing problem before it is a teaching problem.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration topic should be provisionally chosen in the first year, because leaving it late means writing about content not yet taught. At Higher Level the third paper arrives late in teaching and is the component most often met for the first time in a mock, which makes it an obvious eight-week target in the final year.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Calculator fluency is a term-one priority rather than an afterthought, because every later paper assumes it. The exploration suits this course well, and the reflection criterion is where drafts lose marks by presenting the data instead of interrogating how well the model fits.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics and equilibrium are the content spine; the investigation design is the dated item. Design has to be settled before data collection, so the session that matters most sits in the first year and the drafting block sits in the second.

Physics

HL and SL

Uncertainty propagation belongs in the first term because every practical write-up afterwards uses it. Algebraic rearrangement before substitution is a habit to build early, since it is the difference between method marks earned and method marks declined on every later paper.

Biology

HL and SL

Content volume makes this the subject where falling behind is least visible until a mock. The investigation needs growing or sampling time the calendar does not forgive, so the design deadline matters more here than in the other two sciences.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral and the written assignments are scheduled by the school and land in other subjects' deadline weeks. Choosing the global issue and extracts early buys a calmer final year regardless of ability, and costs nothing but a decision.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries at eight hundred words each, each with its own internal date. The failure is leaving all three to one fortnight, which produces three rushed diagrams and no evaluation worth marking. One per term is the fix and it is purely a scheduling decision.

History

HL and SL

The historical investigation runs to around two thousand two hundred words and depends on sources chosen before the question is settled. Students who fix the question first and hunt sources afterwards usually change the question and lose a fortnight doing it.

Business Management

HL and SL

The project depends on an organisation's willingness to respond, so the binding constraint is somebody else's inbox rather than the student's writing speed. Making the approach early is worth more than starting the writing early.

Psychology

HL and SL

The experimental study needs an ethical design and a replicable method, both of which must clear the school's internal approval before any data is collected. That approval step is early and is the deadline nobody mentions until it has passed.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The solution requires a real client and a working artefact, so scope is the trap. Students design something ambitious in the first year and spend the second trying to finish it rather than documenting it to the criteria.

Visual Arts

HL and SL

The comparative study, process portfolio and exhibition accumulate steadily across both years and nothing can be caught up in a final term. This is the subject where calendar discipline matters most and is applied least often.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three block shapes, all delivered one-to-one over live video. The difference between them is what triggers the block and when it ends.

The standard eight-week block

Two sessions a week for eight weeks, one subject, with a target named in writing before the first lesson. Opens with a diagnostic paper sat to time and closes with a comparable paper marked to the published scheme, so the result is a number rather than a feeling. Finishes two weeks before the assessment it was built around.

  • Two sessions weekly, eight weeks, one subject
  • Target stated in writing before session one
  • Diagnostic first, comparable paper last
  • Ends two weeks before the deadline

The four-week component sprint

For a single narrow failure: uncertainty propagation, command terms, diagram accuracy, timing in the final quarter of a paper. Four weeks, one or two sessions a week, aimed at a habit rather than a topic. The shortest useful block and often the one with the largest return per hour.

  • Four weeks, one named habit or component
  • Drilled rather than explained
  • Measured on the targeted question type only
  • Transfers to other subjects once established

The term-long accompaniment

One session a week across a term where the problem is content coverage rather than technique, following the school's own scheme of work. Reviewed with a marked paper every six sessions, and converted into an eight-week block with a paper target once the content gap closes.

  • Weekly, follows the school's scheme of work
  • Marked paper every six sessions as evidence
  • Converts to a targeted block when content is level
  • Written note after each session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Seih Al Uraibi

01

What a Seih Al Uraibi family is actually buying

  • The search removes a third journey; the answer has to address that honestly
  • The in-home premium is the journey, and here it shrinks the pool
  • Delivery is one-to-one over live video, stated before any booking
  • What you are buying is a block with a target and an end date

The phrase home tutor contains a logistics wish. A family here has already driven north or west twice and the prospect of a third journey, or of waiting in for somebody who may be delayed on the same roads, is unappealing. So the search is about removing travel, and the honest response deals with that directly rather than talking around it.

In-home tutoring is a genuine market in the UAE with a genuine premium. Published UAE rate surveys put in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180-500 per hour including the visit, against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The difference is the journey. In Ras Al Khaimah, paying it narrows the pool of available teachers rather than widening it, because the people who can reach Seih Al Uraibi on a weekday evening are a short list.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time, and home visits are a service we run in India only. What that buys a family here is a Diploma specialist matched to the subject and level, available in the window that exists after the school run, with a written record of every session and no travel risk on either side.

The second thing being bought, and the one this page is really about, is a plan with an end. A free trial lesson comes first, on your child's own material, with no payment and no card needed. If the specialist your child needs is not available this month you will be told, because in a Diploma year six wasted sessions are six weeks that cannot be recovered.

02

The eight-week block, week by week

Most tutoring is sold as an hourly rate and an open calendar, which is convenient for the seller and almost useless as a plan. The alternative is a block with a shape. Below is the shape we use, and the reason each week is where it is. The first week is deliberately uncomfortable: a full paper sat to time, phone away, before any teaching happens, because a conversation about which topics feel difficult is the least reliable diagnostic available.

Weeks two to four work the three weakest topic clusters from that script, using questions rather than explanations, because a student who watches a worked example learns less than one who attempts and fails and is then corrected. Weeks five and six alternate: one session on content, one on a timed component, so technique and knowledge build against each other instead of one waiting for the other to finish.

Week seven hands the marking over. The student marks their own work against the published scheme with the tutor watching, which is a learnable skill and the only one on this list that outlasts the block. A student who can read a mark scheme has a revision tool for every remaining subject and every remaining year. Week eight is a comparable paper under time, marked, discussed, and compared with week one.

Then it stops. The block ends two weeks before the assessment it was built around, deliberately, so the final fortnight belongs to the student. Families often want to extend into those two weeks and it is the wrong instinct: a student still being taught in the final fortnight arrives tired and uncertain, and the marks that late teaching might add are smaller than the marks the fatigue removes.

03

What each of the six Diploma terms is for

The Diploma is sold as two years and experienced as six terms, and the difference matters because each term contains work that only fits in that term. A family in Seih Al Uraibi reading this in the first term of Year 12 has every option open. A family reading it in the final term has three. The table below says what belongs where, which is the piece of information schools assume parents already have.

The pattern worth noticing is that the first two terms carry almost no external pressure and almost all of the irreversible decisions. Subject and level confirmation, the Extended Essay subject and research question, the exploration topic, investigation designs: all of these are settled while nothing appears urgent, and all of them cap what is achievable later. The terms that feel most relaxed are the ones doing the most damage when wasted.

The middle terms are where the work bunches. Six Internal Assessments cannot be spaced evenly by a school, because each subject sets its own rhythm, so they collide. Once the internal deadline list exists on one calendar, the collisions are visible months ahead and one investigation can be moved forward by three weeks. That single act of rescheduling is worth more than a term of extra teaching.

The final terms are narrow. Mocks, predicted grades, revision and the papers. A student arriving at the final two terms with core components complete has a straightforward run. A student arriving with an unfinished Extended Essay is spending revision weeks on something that should have closed a year earlier, and no tutor can create those weeks back.

THE SIX DIPLOMA TERMS - WHAT BELONGS TO EACH

04

Creativity, Activity and Service fails on paperwork

  • The component fails on documentation rather than on effort
  • Write each reflection within a week of the activity
  • Check the record against the school's requirements once a term
  • No tutor is needed; the parent is the right person to catch it

Of all the ways a capable Diploma student can lose, this is the most avoidable and the most common. Creativity, Activity and Service is not assessed with marks, but it has to be completed and evidenced, and students who have done plenty of it can still be chasing documentation in the final term. The failure is administrative and it competes directly with revision for the same weeks.

The mechanism is simple. A student does the activities as they happen, intends to write up the reflections later, and later becomes the term where mocks and Internal Assessments are landing. The reflections then have to be reconstructed from memory, which takes longer and produces worse evidence than writing a short note on the day would have done.

The fix costs nothing and belongs in the first term of Year 12. Write the reflection within a week of the activity, keep the record in one place, and check it against the school's requirements once a term rather than once a programme. A family in Seih Al Uraibi can set this up in an afternoon and it removes a predictable crisis eighteen months later.

A tutor has no role in this and should not pretend otherwise. It is not a subject and there is nothing to teach. It is on this page because a plan written around subject teaching while this quietly accumulates is a plan that will be disrupted, and because the parent is the only person positioned to catch it early.

05

How to read a mock paper and get a plan out of it

  • Ask for the marked script and the component marks, not just the grade
  • Check in order: timing, written method, command terms, then content
  • The first three are habits and change inside four weeks
  • Mock boundaries are estimates from earlier series, not fixed lines

The mock is the only external signal that arrives in time to act on, and most families extract a grade from it and throw the rest away. The useful content is in the script. Ask the school for the marked paper and, where they can provide it, the component-level marks, because those two documents between them contain the entire plan for the next eight weeks.

Read for four things in order. First, were all the questions attempted, or did marks run out in the final quarter, which is a timing problem and the fastest of all to fix. Second, is the working written or implied, because unwritten method lines forfeit credit the scheme would have awarded. Third, do the answers match the command terms, or is there a page of writing where the instruction wanted two points. Fourth, and only fourth, is there content genuinely missing.

The order matters because the first three are habits and the fourth is knowledge. Habits change inside a four-week sprint and transfer to every other subject the student sits. Content takes a term and transfers nowhere. A family that spends its budget on content teaching when the script shows a timing and command-term problem has bought the slowest available improvement.

One caution about mock grades themselves. Boundaries are set per series by the awarding body and they move, so a school's mock boundary is an estimate based on previous series rather than a line. A student two marks below an internal boundary is not necessarily two marks below the real one. Read the script rather than the letter, and treat the letter as a prompt to look closer.

06

What a block of support costs in this market

Because this page recommends buying blocks rather than hours, the figure worth comparing is the block total. A standard eight-week block at two sessions a week is sixteen hours. Run that through the published market bands and the arithmetic becomes concrete in a way an hourly rate never does, which is the point of setting it out this way round.

The bands, with their publishers named. Budget online and university-student tutors advertise from roughly AED 45-150 per hour, with one content platform publishing from AED 45-65 and one learning platform from AED 33-52. A qualified subject tutor online sits at roughly AED 150-300, with one UAE agency publishing International GCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Specialists run AED 200-450 and above, with a UK agency quoting AED 270. Premium named tutors reach AED 500-650, with one provider publishing AED 650.

Monthly, UAE surveys put a weekly hour at roughly AED 240-600 for budget tutoring, AED 600-1,200 for mid-market and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Advertised packages include online bundles from around AED 799 a month for eight sessions and in-home bundles at AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour visits, which is where the travel premium becomes visible as a line of its own.

None of these figures is an IB Gram price and nothing on this page is a quote. What we publish is the model and the free trial lesson that precedes any payment. The comparison to run on any quote is total block cost against a named target, because an hourly rate with no session count and no endpoint is not a price at all, and it is the easiest thing in this market to advertise.

Online or in-home, decided on the calendar rather than on preference

Most comparisons of these two formats are about comfort. The calendar version is more useful. A block has eight weeks and sixteen sessions in it, and the question that matters is how many of those sixteen will actually happen. Every cancellation is six per cent of the block gone, and cancellations in an in-home arrangement come from two directions rather than one.

An online session needs a connection and a student. An in-home session needs a connection of a different kind: a tutor who can cross the emirate on that particular evening, roads that cooperate, and a household that is home. Over sixteen sessions in Ras Al Khaimah, that difference reliably costs a block one or two sessions, and in an eight-week plan built around a deadline those are the sessions you cannot reschedule into a fortnight you have deliberately left empty.

There is a genuine advantage on the other side and it is worth naming. A tutor in the room reads handwritten working upside down and interrupts mid-line. Online that takes a document camera or a phone propped over the page, and it takes asking for it in the first session rather than the fourth. Families who set that up get most of the benefit; families who do not lose something real.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, so for us this is settled rather than open. The reason the comparison is printed anyway is that a parent deciding between two formats deserves the actual trade-offs, including the one that favours the option we do not sell. The table sets them out on the dimension this page cares about: whether the block completes.

The regulator, the permit, and the two questions worth asking

  • RAK's Department of Knowledge approves fees, curricula, programmes and assessment methods
  • Five different bodies regulate private schools across the seven emirates
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • No regulator or board accredits IB Gram, and this page claims none

Ras Al Khaimah has its own education regulator, which more of this market should know. The Department of Knowledge regulates private education in the emirate and, like Sharjah's authority, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. So both the curriculum your child's school runs and the fee it charges pass through an emirate-level body rather than a federal one.

For completeness, since families move: Dubai answers to KHDA, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to ADEK, Sharjah to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah to its Department of Knowledge, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Anyone telling you that one Dubai framework governs the whole country is mistaken.

The first question worth asking a prospective tutor is about the permit. Private tuition in the UAE runs on a work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and granted free of charge for two years, with eligibility covering registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no amounts are published, so a quoted figure is invented.

The second question is about claims. None of these bodies accredits a tutor. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A permit for a training institute with premises in Dubai is a specific KHDA instrument with its own application sequence, and no online platform should borrow its vocabulary.

09

When the plan slips, triage in this order

  • First: anything with a hard deadline and marks attached
  • Second: the largest component in the weakest subject
  • Third: timing practice, which responds fastest
  • Fourth: content breadth, which is what to cut
  • Always: keep the final fortnight empty

Plans slip. A student gets ill in week three, a family trip lands in week five, an unexpected assessment eats the set work. The useful question is not how to prevent that but how to decide what to drop, and the answer is an order of priority that can be applied without a meeting.

First priority is anything with a hard external deadline and marks attached: an Internal Assessment, the Extended Essay, a submitted component. Those cannot be recovered after the date and a capped grade follows a student into the final total. Second priority is the component carrying the largest share of marks in the weakest subject, because that is where recoverable marks are densest.

Third priority is timing practice, which responds fast and is the cheapest marks available late. Fourth is content breadth, which responds slowly and should be the first thing cut when weeks disappear. The temptation runs in exactly the opposite direction, because content feels like the real work and timing feels like a technicality, and following that instinct is how a shortened block ends up having achieved nothing measurable.

One rule overrides the order. The two weeks before an assessment stay empty whatever has slipped. A family that compresses a lost fortnight into the final two weeks turns a slipped plan into a tired student, and a tired student loses more marks than the compressed teaching adds. Accept the smaller block, keep the gap, and name what has been dropped in writing so nobody pretends later that it was covered.

10

Equivalency, and why it belongs in a quiet term

  • Do the documentary work in a light term, not a heavy one
  • British track: five subjects at E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Plus one A Level at E, or two AS Levels at E
  • No IB points figure is published here because none has been verified

If your child intends to apply to a UAE university, the certificate has to be made equivalent by the Ministry of Education, and the documentary work should sit in a term where the Diploma calendar is light rather than in the term where every deadline lands at once. That is the only piece of advice about equivalency that belongs on a tutoring page, and it is a scheduling point rather than an academic one.

The published British-track rule, for families whose children are on that route or whose siblings are, asks for five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

The American track differs: English proficiency through a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, with at least 450 in the SAT Math test. For the IB, no points threshold appears on this page, because none has been read on the Ministry's own site and publishing an unverified figure across a set of pages like this would create a liability rather than a service.

Two limits worth stating plainly. IB Gram does not perform equivalency, does not submit it on anybody's behalf and guarantees no outcome from it; it is a Ministry process and the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority is where it should be verified. And tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression, whatever urgency is attached to it elsewhere.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Seih Al Uraibi

These notes are about commute and timing, because in Seih Al Uraibi and its neighbours the session that gets booked and the session that happens are decided by the school run.

Seih Al Uraibi

Inland district on the southern approaches to the city. Students travel north or west for school, so a realistic weekday start is around five and later if the school sits in Al Hamra Village.

Al Dhait

Immediately adjacent and spread across more schools than any other district in the emirate. After-school activities rather than travel usually decide which evening is free here.

Al Mamourah

City-area district sharing the same bus directions and the same evening window. Households across both areas frequently run two boards at once across siblings.

Al Qusaidat

City-area district near the creek with the same school options. The practical difference from Seih Al Uraibi is a few minutes of commute, not a different set of tutors.

Khuzam

Central district close to the government school cluster, with private-school families travelling out to the same destinations as Seih Al Uraibi students.

Al Nakheel

Holds a large share of the emirate's private secondary capacity. Being schooled here shortens the commute considerably and changes nothing about specialist supply in a small Higher Level cohort.

Al Hamra Village

Coastal cluster around thirty minutes away and the emirate's main route into IB programmes, which makes it the origin of most Diploma planning questions from this area.

Mina Al Arab

Newer coastal development with limited local secondary provision, so transfers mid-programme are common and arrive with a half-complete set of internal deadlines.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Seih Al Uraibi

Ras Al Khaimah schools serving Seih Al Uraibi

Diploma cohorts in these schools are small by national standards, which concentrates subject expertise in one or two staff. That is arithmetic rather than criticism and it is the practical reason an external specialist adds something here.

What families weigh when a Higher Level option is unavailable

A Seih Al Uraibi student wanting a Higher Level subject the local school does not run compares these Dubai and Sharjah options against a commute or a move. Named as market context only; no relationship exists or is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the deadline the block is for

A mock, an internal submission, a final paper. Every block here is built backwards from a date, so the date comes first. If there is no date, the honest answer is usually a term-long accompaniment rather than a block, and that is a different arrangement with a different price.

  2. 02

    Send a marked script

The marked paper is the plan. It shows whether marks are lost to timing, to unwritten method lines, to command terms or to missing content, and those four have wildly different timescales. Component-level mock marks from the school are better still where they can be released.

  3. 03

    Free trial lesson first

A real lesson on your child's own material, with no payment and no card required, and you are welcome to watch. What you are judging is how the tutor responds when your child is stuck, since that moment repeats sixteen times across a block and no description of a service can show it to you.

  4. 04

    Agree the target in writing

Not better at chemistry. A named component, a named question type, and the measure that will show movement. The target goes in writing before session one so that at week eight there is something to check the block against rather than an impression to discuss.

  5. 05

    Session notes every week

What was covered, what was set, what comes next. Across an eight-week block the notes are how you tell in week four that the set work is not being done, which is the commonest reason a block underperforms and the easiest to fix while it is still happening.

  6. 06

    Stop two weeks early

The block finishes a fortnight before the assessment, by design. Families often ask to extend into that gap and we do not, because a student still being taught in the final fortnight arrives tired, and fatigue costs more marks than late teaching adds.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Blocks with an end date

Eight weeks, a named target, a diagnostic at the start and a comparable paper at the end. The alternative, an open-ended weekly slot, is the arrangement most often sold in this market and the one where nobody can say afterwards what it achieved.

The term map published in full

What each of the six Diploma terms is actually for, and what it costs to skip each one. The terms that feel relaxed carry the irreversible decisions, and a family who sees that in the first term of Year 12 has every option still open to them.

Triage rules, written down

When a plan slips, the order is hard deadlines, then the largest component in the weakest subject, then timing, then content. The instinct runs the other way, which is how a shortened block ends up achieving nothing measurable.

Rates costed as blocks, not hours

A sixteen-hour block priced from each published market band, with every figure attributed to whoever published it. An hourly rate with no session count is the easiest number in this market to advertise and the least useful one to compare.

A specialist rather than the nearest person

In an emirate where a Higher Level teaching set can be one person covering several courses, matching on subject and level matters more than matching on distance. Online delivery is what makes that possible, and it is stated before booking rather than after.

No IB dates invented here

UAE candidates sit the May session; the specific dates belong to the board's own site and to your child's coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson dates appear with their sources, and past ones keep their year because that is what makes them checkable.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Seih Al Uraibi: your questions answered

Can a tutor come to our house in Seih Al Uraibi in the evening?+

Not through IB Gram. Home visits are a service we run in India only, and every UAE lesson is one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time. The in-home market does exist here, at published rates of roughly AED 180-500 per hour including travel against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor. Across an eight-week block, in-home arrangements in this emirate reliably lose a session or two to travel, and those are the sessions a deadline-based plan cannot absorb.

Why eight weeks rather than a term or a year?+

Because a term contains holidays, assessment weeks and interruptions nobody predicted, and a year is an intention rather than a plan. Eight weeks is long enough for a habit to change and three topic clusters to be rebuilt, short enough for a family to see through, and it maps onto the gap between one school assessment and the next. It also makes the arrangement checkable: a diagnostic paper at the start and a comparable paper at the end produce a number rather than an impression.

What happens in the first week of a block?+

A full past paper, sat to time, phone away, before any teaching. It is uncomfortable and it is the only honest map of where the marks are going. The tutor marks it against the published scheme and reports component by component, and that script sets the topic order for the following seven weeks. Families sometimes ask to skip it because a mock already exists, which is fine if the mock was sat to time and marked to the scheme, and not otherwise.

Which Diploma term matters most and why does nobody say so?+

The first two, and almost nobody says so because nothing in them feels urgent. Subject and level confirmation, the Extended Essay subject and research question, the exploration topic and the investigation designs are all settled in those terms, and each one caps what is achievable eighteen months later. A design approved late limits the criteria it feeds; a Higher Level choice made without checking the intended university course can close a route entirely.

Our child has done plenty of Creativity, Activity and Service. Why is the school chasing us?+

Because the component is evidenced rather than assessed, and the evidence is what is missing. Students do the activities and intend to write the reflections later, and later becomes the term where mocks and Internal Assessments are landing. Reconstructing reflections from memory takes longer and produces weaker evidence than a short note written within a week would have. The fix costs nothing, belongs in the first term of Year 12, and no tutor is needed for it.

How should we read my child's mock script rather than the grade?+

In four passes, in this order. Were all questions attempted, or did marks run out in the final quarter, which is a timing problem and the fastest to fix. Is the working written or implied, since unwritten method lines forfeit credit. Do the answers match the command terms, or is there a page of writing where two points were wanted. Only then, is content genuinely missing. The first three are habits that change in four weeks; content takes a term.

Can a four-week block be worth buying, or is that too short?+

Four weeks is worth buying when the target is a single habit rather than a topic: uncertainty propagation, diagram labelling, writing the substitution line, answering the command term. Those are drilled rather than taught, they respond quickly, and once established they transfer to every other subject the student sits. Four weeks is not enough for content coverage, so the block only makes sense when a marked script shows a technique failure rather than gaps across the syllabus.

What do we drop when the plan slips by a fortnight?+

In order: keep anything with a hard deadline and marks attached, such as an Internal Assessment or the Extended Essay, because those cannot be recovered after the date. Then keep the largest component in the weakest subject. Then keep timing practice, which responds fastest. Cut content breadth, which responds slowest. And keep the final two weeks empty whatever happens, because compressing a lost fortnight into them produces a tired student rather than a prepared one.

Is a sixteen-hour block a sensible amount to buy?+

For one subject with one named target, yes, and it is the shape most families here end up with. Costed from published market bands, sixteen hours runs roughly AED 720-2,400 at the budget tier, AED 2,400-4,800 with a qualified online subject tutor, and AED 3,200-7,200 or more with a specialist. Those are market figures attributed to the providers and surveys that published them, not our prices. Compare block totals against a named target rather than comparing hourly rates.

Do you teach right up to the exam?+

No, deliberately. Blocks finish two weeks before the assessment they were built around, so the final fortnight belongs to the student for timed papers and consolidation. Families often ask to extend into that gap and the answer stays no: a student still being taught in the last fortnight arrives at the paper tired and uncertain, and the marks that late teaching might add are smaller than the marks fatigue removes. If a gap appears late it gets a note and a short recap, not a lesson.

Does the emirate regulator have any say over tutoring in Seih Al Uraibi?+

The emirate's Department of Knowledge regulates private education here and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so both the curriculum and the fee sit under an emirate-level body rather than a federal one. It does not accredit tutors, and no tutoring service holds approval from it. Across the country five different bodies do this job, which is why advice written for Dubai and relabelled for the northern emirates is often wrong in detail.

What is the single question I should put to any tutor before booking?+

Yes, and it is a reasonable question with a simple answer. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Anyone describing the permit as costly or optional has not read the published service.

Can the block run while we travel out of the emirate?+

Yes, which is one of the practical reasons the format is what it is. The session runs from wherever the family is, so a two-week trip in the middle of an eight-week block does not remove four sessions from a plan that has a deadline waiting at the end. The one thing to settle in advance is which time zone the sessions will run in, because a slot that works on Gulf Standard Time can land awkwardly elsewhere and an awkward slot quietly becomes a cancelled one.

What if my child needs two subjects supported at once?+

Run two blocks, not one split block. A single session divided across two subjects becomes half an hour of each and a full hour of neither, and the diagnostic work that makes a block effective cannot be done twice in one sitting. If the budget allows only one block, choose the subject where the largest component is weakest, because that is where recoverable marks are densest, and run the second block in the following eight weeks.

When should we start thinking about UAE university equivalency?+

In a term where the Diploma calendar is light, which in practice means the first year rather than the final one. Equivalency is a Ministry of Education process with its own documentary requirements, and no tutoring service performs it or guarantees an outcome from it. The published British-track rule asks for five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level.

How will we know at week four whether the block is working?+

From the session notes and the first timed section. By week four the notes should show set work being completed and the short timed component marked against the published scheme, with fewer method marks lost than in week one. If the set work is not being done, that is the problem to solve and it is a household conversation rather than a teaching one. If the work is being done and nothing has moved, the match is wrong and should change rather than continue.

Name a date, then build eight weeks backwards from it

Tell us which assessment or deadline the support is for, send a marked script, and you will get an eight-week block with a named target, a diagnostic in week one, a comparable paper in week eight and a deliberate fortnight of silence before the date itself. The trial lesson is free, runs on your child's own material, and you are welcome to watch it. Lessons are one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time, and if the specialist your child needs is not available this month we will say so rather than offer somebody adjacent.
