IB Physics Tutor in Al Twar

Hiring an IB physics tutor in Al Twar is a question about hours before it is a question about rates. Physics marks are lost in a small number of repeatable faults, which means the number of hours needed is knowable rather than open-ended. This page counts them: what each phase of the two years actually requires, what the Dubai market charges in AED for it, and the three places Al Twar families reliably overspend. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Al Twar

How many physics hours does an Al Twar family actually need to buy?

Physics is unusual among Diploma subjects in that the spending question has a reasonably definite answer. Most lost marks trace to a short list of repeatable faults: units dropped or converted wrongly, an equation rearranged after substitution rather than before, a vector treated as a scalar, a diagram not drawn, an answer given to an accuracy the data does not support. Each is diagnosable in one session and fixable in three or four. That makes physics a subject where you can plan hours rather than buy them indefinitely.

The second structural fact is the weighting. Paper 2 carries about 44 per cent of the grade, Paper 1 about 36 per cent across its multiple-choice and data-based sections, and the Scientific Investigation about 20 per cent at both Standard and Higher Level. A fifth of the grade therefore sits in one piece of coursework that most families treat as a side project, while the data-based section of Paper 1 is rarely drilled separately in school. Those two facts tell you where hours are worth most before you have spoken to anybody.

Now the prices, with their sources, read in October 2026. IB and IGCSE specialists in Dubai are published at roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 survey agreeing on the band. Qualified online subject tutors sit at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Budget and university-student tutors advertise from AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik at AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya at AED 33 to 52. In-home one-to-one, which carries travel inside the rate, is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and up to AED 500 by independent home tutors. BartyED advertises AED 650 at the premium end.

Put the hours and the rates together and you get a budget rather than a commitment. A diagnostic block of four sessions at the specialist band is roughly AED 800 to 1,800. A term of weekly work at the mid band is about AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's monthly estimates. A dated run of ten sessions before the examination series is somewhere between AED 2,000 and 4,500. Those are numbers a household can decide about in advance, which is the entire argument of this page.

One thing to be clear about. IB Gram does not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Physics tuition for an Al Twar family is delivered one-to-one over live video, with a shared screen for free-body diagrams, graph work and marked past papers. For a subject whose faults are diagnosed by watching the working appear line by line, a shared screen is the natural medium, and it removes the travel premium that a villa district behind Al Qusais otherwise pays.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What physics costs depends on which stage your child is at, because the work changes completely between them. These are the four stages for an Al Twar student.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme Physics

Assessed by two written papers and one Scientific Investigation. Content is organised around space, time and motion; the particulate nature of matter; wave behaviour; fields; and nuclear and quantum physics. Higher Level adds depth inside each theme rather than a third paper.

In this cluster the spending pattern is predictable: families buy nothing in DP1 autumn, when a weekly hour would be cheapest and most effective, and then buy expensively in DP2 spring. Shifting even a quarter of that spend a year earlier changes the result more than increasing it would.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

MYP Sciences before physics

Assessed against four criteria rather than by paper: knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. Physics appears as a strand before separating out in the later years at most schools.

An Al Twar student arriving in DP1 physics from MYP usually has good investigation instincts and insufficient calculation volume. That is a cheap gap to close in the summer before DP1, at the budget or mid band, and an expensive one to discover in October.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Physics into the Diploma

Cambridge 0625 or Pearson 4PH1 give a solid grounding in forces, energy, waves, electricity and radioactivity. Neither covers the vector treatment, calculus-adjacent reasoning or field theory depth that Higher Level physics assumes early.

Students who found Extended IGCSE physics straightforward are frequently advised towards Higher Level, and some should be taking Standard Level. The honest test is whether algebraic rearrangement is automatic, because Higher Level physics offers no time to think about the algebra and the physics at once.

CoreAges 16-19 · DP1 into DP2

The Scientific Investigation

One independent investigation that the student designs, performs, analyses and writes up, internally assessed and externally moderated, worth about a fifth of the grade at both levels. Uncertainty treatment and the quality of the evaluation drive the mark.

This is where cost and timing interact most sharply. Supervision bought three months out is cheap and effective; bought three days out it cannot legitimately achieve much, because the only remaining help would cross the academic-honesty line. We will not write or complete any part of it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Physics is rarely bought alone, and the combinations matter for cost because some overlaps let one tutor do two jobs. These are the subjects Al Twar families pair with it.

Physics

HL and SL

Two papers plus the Scientific Investigation. Marks go in unit handling, in rearranging after substitution, in treating vectors as scalars, and in answers reported to an accuracy the data cannot support.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most valuable pairing. Rearrangement, trigonometry, gradients and calculus all appear in physics questions, and a physics problem is often a maths problem the student did not recognise as one.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Workable alongside physics, with more statistical content and technology throughout. Check specific university prerequisites for engineering and physics degrees, because some express a preference for the analytical route.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The usual third science. Energetics and kinetics share proportional and logarithmic reasoning with physics, and students who struggle in both frequently have one underlying mathematical gap rather than two scientific ones.

Biology

HL and SL

Less overlap, but the data-based question style is similar enough that practice in one transfers to the other. A cheap way to get value from a single block of data-question coaching.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Chosen alongside physics by engineering-bound students. Algorithmic discipline helps directly with multi-step physics calculations, where most errors are sequencing rather than arithmetic errors.

Design Technology

HL and SL

Shares the modelling and iteration mindset. For students taking both, the investigation and design project habits reinforce each other, which reduces the total supervision needed.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Often neglected by physics students and directly relevant to the investigation, where the evaluation is an argument rather than a list of what went wrong.

Arabic B

HL, SL and ab initio

Receptive, productive and interactive components, each requiring separate practice. Commonly taken in this cluster and commonly tutored too generally to be worth the money.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The exhibition and the essay. Physics offers unusually good material: the status of a model, what counts as evidence, and why a theory can be useful and still be superseded.

Extended Essay in Physics

Core · 4,000 words

A supervised research essay. Physics titles fail on feasibility rather than difficulty: a question that cannot be investigated with school apparatus becomes a literature review with measurements attached.

Uncertainty and data skills

A cross-cutting skill

Propagating uncertainty, choosing graph scales, drawing a line of best fit with error bars and judging whether a result supports a claim. Examined in both papers and in the investigation, and rarely drilled separately.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy physics support, each with a defined number of hours rather than an open commitment. All are delivered over live video.

A four-session diagnostic block

The cheapest useful purchase in physics. Four sessions to establish which of the standard faults is actually present, with a written summary at the end stating what the problem is and how many further hours it needs. You then decide whether to continue.

  • Timed questions from the first session, because speed hides faults
  • The specific fault named, not a topic list
  • A written estimate of further hours required
  • No obligation to continue afterwards

Weekly work through a term

One session a week following the school's scheme of work, with a short practice set between sessions marked at the start of the next. The arrangement that repairs a real content gap, reviewed at the mock window rather than rolling indefinitely.

  • One technique or topic per session, with worked examples
  • Practice set left for the following day, not the following week
  • Reviewed against the school's mock, with an honest verdict
  • Tutor changed at no cost if the match is wrong

Investigation supervision

Scheduled sessions against the school's internal deadlines for the Scientific Investigation, starting with the research question. Supervision is questioning and feedback on your child's own work; we will not produce any part of it.

  • The research question narrowed until the apparatus can answer it
  • Uncertainty treatment taught in general terms
  • Feedback on the student's own draft, never text supplied
  • The honesty boundary stated explicitly at the first session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Twar

01

What a physics grade costs in hours, phase by phase

Because the faults in physics are a short list, the hours can be estimated honestly instead of sold open-ended. A diagnostic block is four sessions: enough to see timed work, identify which of the standard faults is present, and say how much further work it needs. A unit and rearrangement repair, once identified, is typically three or four sessions of drilling before the habit sticks. Vector handling is similar. The data-based section of Paper 1 responds to four or five sets of unfamiliar data, which is one short block.

Larger jobs take longer and are still finite. Repairing a Standard Level foundation in a Higher Level student, which is the commonest underlying problem in DP2, is a term of weekly work rather than a block, because the gaps are distributed across several themes. Investigation supervision is five or six sessions spread across months, concentrated at the question stage and the evaluation stage. Full-paper technique before the examination series is eight to twelve sessions with marked timed papers.

Multiply those by the published bands and you have a budget. At the mid band of AED 150 to 300 an hour, a four-session diagnostic is roughly AED 600 to 1,200; at the specialist band of AED 200 to 450 it is AED 800 to 1,800. A term of weekly mid-band work is AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's monthly estimates. A ten-session examination block is AED 2,000 to 4,500 depending on band. Those are decidable numbers, and a provider who cannot give you an hours estimate for a named fault is asking you to buy time rather than a result.

The table sets this out as jobs rather than as a package. Treat the hour counts as what we would expect rather than a promise, because a student is not a machine and a four-session estimate occasionally turns out to be six. What we will not do is decline to estimate, because that is how an open-ended arrangement becomes a standing cost nobody reviews.

Where the hours actually go in Diploma physics

  • Mechanics: insist on the free-body diagram before any algebra
  • Fields: check the mechanics foundation before buying field hours
  • Paper 1B: four or five unfamiliar data sets, marked properly
  • Nuclear and quantum: modular, cheap to secure, often neglected

Mechanics absorbs the most hours in DP1 and the reason is almost always the free-body diagram. Students who do not draw one attempt to reason about forces in their heads, and get the right physics with the wrong signs. Insisting on a diagram before any algebra is a small habit with a large effect, and it is the kind of thing a tutor installs rather than teaches. Three sessions, applied rigorously, and a whole category of error disappears.

Fields are where Higher Level students lose confidence, and the cause is usually not the fields. It is that gravitational, electric and magnetic field questions all assume fluency with inverse-square reasoning, with potential as a scalar against field as a vector, and with graph interpretation, and a student whose mechanics foundation was shaky arrives without that fluency. Buying field tuition for a student with a mechanics problem is the most expensive diagnostic error in this subject.

The data-based section of Paper 1 is the cheapest marks available and the least drilled. Students meet an unfamiliar experiment under time pressure, and describe the table in front of them instead of using it to answer the question asked. Four or five sets of unfamiliar data, marked properly, changes performance on this section inside a month. Schools rarely have time for it because it sits across topics rather than inside one, which is precisely why a tutor should.

Nuclear and quantum content is usually the cheapest part of the course to teach, because it is more modular and less dependent on what came before. A student who is behind in DP2 often does better to secure these themes properly while repairing mechanics in parallel, rather than attempting to rebuild the course in order. That sequencing judgement is itself what a diagnostic session is for, and it is the difference between a term of hours that works and a term that merely happens.

03

A two-year physics spend that puts the money where it works

The spending pattern in this district is consistent and consistently wrong. Families buy nothing in DP1 autumn, a little in DP1 spring, more in DP2 autumn, and a great deal in DP2 spring at the highest band available. The effectiveness runs in the opposite direction. A weekly hour in DP1 autumn prevents the problem that the DP2 spring block is trying to rescue, and it costs less because there is no urgency premium and no triage.

The strongest argument for front-loading is specific to physics. The faults are habits, and habits take weeks of repetition to change rather than hours of explanation. A student drilled on unit discipline in October has fourteen months of practice reinforcing it before the papers. The same drilling in March has six weeks, which is enough to know the rule and not enough for it to survive the pressure of a timed paper. You are buying time for a habit to form, and that is the one thing money cannot compress.

The second place to concentrate spend is the investigation window, which runs from DP1 summer into DP2 autumn in most schools. A fifth of the grade is decided there, and the supervision that matters is early. Narrowing the research question until the available apparatus can answer it is one session with outsized consequences; everything after that is cheaper because the project is sound.

What deserves less money than it usually gets is the final six weeks. A scoped block of eight to twelve sessions on paper technique is defensible. An open-ended daily arrangement at the premium band is a purchase made out of anxiety, and the honest thing a tutor can tell you at that point is what is still recoverable and what is not. The table sets out the distribution we would recommend, which is deliberately heavier at the start than most families find comfortable.

04

The Scientific Investigation, and the cost of leaving it late

A fifth of your child's physics grade comes from one investigation they design, perform, analyse and write up themselves. The economics of supervising it are unusual, because the value of help falls sharply with time rather than rising. Early, a tutor can question a research question until the available apparatus can actually answer it, which is the single highest-value intervention in the component. Late, the only remaining help would be producing work that must be the student's own, and we will not do that at any price.

In physics specifically, two things decide the mark more than the topic does. The first is the uncertainty treatment: whether the student can say how precisely each quantity was measured, propagate that through the calculation, and represent it on a graph with error bars that mean something. The second is the evaluation, where students write apologies listing everything that went wrong instead of judging which weakness actually affected the conclusion, by how much, and in which direction.

Both are teachable in general terms without touching the student's own work, which is what legitimate supervision looks like. A tutor can explain propagation on a worked example of their own, show what a defensible evaluation paragraph does, and then read the student's draft and point out where a claim is not supported by the data in front of it. What a tutor may not do is supply a method, process data the student did not collect, write or rewrite any section, or edit the report to completion.

We state this to students at the first investigation session rather than leaving it in a footnote, because a seventeen-year-old under deadline pressure deserves a clear line rather than an implied one. IB academic-honesty rules make this a malpractice question, and a malpractice finding falls on the student and can reach the whole Diploma. Any service offering to write an investigation is selling a risk dressed as a shortcut, and it is worth remembering that a competitor in this market sells completed Internal Assessments outright.

05

Group, pair or one-to-one for physics

Physics divides unusually cleanly on this question, which makes it one of the better subjects for reducing cost intelligently. Content teaching and worked examples transfer well to a small group, because a well-chosen example answers the same question for everybody in the room. Fault diagnosis does not transfer at all, because the fault is in one student's working and finding it requires watching that student work.

So the efficient pattern for a cost-conscious Al Twar family is mixed rather than uniform. Use a matched pair or small group for content and worked examples, where the per-student rate falls substantially. Use one-to-one for the diagnostic block and for the investigation, where the whole value is individual. Families who buy one-to-one for everything spend more than they need; families who buy group for everything never find out why their child keeps losing marks.

The condition on the group half of that is strict. The students must be on the same level, working on the same papers, at roughly the same point. A group assembled because three Al Twar families all want physics help will run at the pace of its least prepared member while every family pays, and the Higher Level student in it will learn nothing. Ask who else is in the group, at what level, and what they are working on, before agreeing.

A note on tuition centres, which sit lower again on price. A centre class is structured delivery to a room, which is a legitimate product and not a substitute for diagnosis. Note also that a tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal from an individual tutor: it requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

06

Three places Al Twar families waste physics money

The first is buying field tuition for a mechanics problem. A Higher Level student struggling with gravitational or electric fields very often has an unrepaired mechanics foundation, and teaching fields on top of it produces a student who can quote the inverse-square relationship and still cannot resolve a force. This is the misdiagnosis that costs most in physics, and it persists because the student names the topic they are currently failing rather than the one that caused it. A diagnostic block of four sessions prevents a term of it.

The second is the late investigation purchase. Supervision bought three months before the internal deadline is cheap and decisive; bought in the final fortnight it cannot legitimately achieve much, because the useful interventions have passed and the remaining ones would cross the honesty line. Families spend at the premium band at exactly the moment a tutor can do least, which is a predictable outcome of leaving a component worth a fifth of the grade until last.

The third is paying specialist rates for supervised practice. A tutor at the specialist band watching a student work through problems they could complete alone is an expensive study companion. If the problem is that the work does not get done, the honest answer is a budget-tier tutor, a structured routine, or a conversation that has nothing to do with physics. Separating will not from cannot before booking is the single most useful thing a parent can do with ten minutes.

A fourth, smaller one is worth naming for this district specifically. In-home arrangements in Al Twar carry the travel premium and a hard stop, because the tutor has another appointment across the city. The last ten minutes of a physics session, where a student finally asks about the thing they did not understand two weeks ago, is where a surprising amount of the value sits, and it is the part that gets cut when the car is waiting.

07

Physics tutor coverage near Al Twar, and the honest fallback

Nobody in this market publishes a coverage limit, so here is ours. Diploma physics at Standard Level is reasonably well covered by UAE-based tutors. Higher Level physics with a specific need in fields or quantum content is thinner. Investigation supervision with real physics experience is thinner again, and an Extended Essay supervisor in physics is the scarcest of the four. Telling a parent that before they book is worth more than a reassuring sentence that falls apart in week two.

The rule we apply is the same on every UAE page. If a UAE-based tutor covers the subject and level, that is the match, because the school calendar and the time zone already align. If no UAE-based specialist is free for the specific requirement, we say so and offer a tutor from the wider pool working Gulf Standard Time at the same rate band, with the position disclosed before you commit. What we will not do is quietly place a tutor whose availability rather than expertise made them the match.

There is a cost consequence worth stating. The reason a nearby shortlist is expensive is that it is short. In-home physics arrangements in Al Twar draw only on tutors willing to make the drive, and for Higher Level work that list can collapse to one name, at which point the rate reflects availability rather than expertise. Matching on the subject and delivering over video keeps the list long, which is where the price discipline comes from.

The table gives coverage honestly, including the cases where matching takes longer. The time estimates are what we aim for rather than promises, because availability moves week to week and a number that reads well is worth less than a range we can meet.

What an Al Twar parent can establish free before spending anything

  • Ask the coordinator which component is costing marks
  • Look for the repeating fault on a marked paper yourself
  • Ask whether the tutor holds the free two-year MoHRE permit
  • Treat unsourced ratings and percentages as decoration

Four checks cost nothing and reliably reduce what you need to spend. The first is the school. Your child's IB coordinator will say which component is costing marks, when the internal deadlines for the investigation fall, and when the mocks are. That is the diagnostic information a physics plan should be built on, and buying hours without it is how a family funds the wrong theme for a term.

The second is the fault list in this page. Ask your child to show you a marked paper and look for the pattern yourself: dropped units, rearrangement after substitution, a missing diagram, an answer to four significant figures from two-figure data. You are not marking the physics, you are looking for repetition. A parent who can say which fault recurs has already done the work a first diagnostic session would do, and can buy a shorter block.

The third is the permit, which is free and therefore a clean honesty test. The UAE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own private tutor licensing service, which lists a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so disregard any figure quoted at you.

The fourth is the claim check. Nobody offering you private physics tutoring is accredited, approved or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education or the IB to do it. IB Gram holds no regulator accreditation and occupies no UAE premises. Treat any rating, student count or success percentage published without a sample size, a date and a method as decoration: pages in this market show different ratings in different places on the same page. A provider that cannot be accurate about its own arithmetic should not be trusted on diagnosis.

Where we tutor

Al Twar and the cost of getting a tutor here

What a nearby physics tutor charges in Al Twar depends on where they are driving from. These are the districts the local pool comes out of, and what each drive adds.

Al Twar 1, 2 and 3

Villa grids behind Al Qusais. A tutor genuinely resident here is the cheapest in-home option and the smallest pool, with Higher Level physics coverage rare to non-existent.

Al Qusais

The nearest district with real tutoring depth, ten to fifteen minutes away. Al Twar families occasionally find in-home quotes below the published upper bands because of it.

Al Nahda

North-east on the Sharjah boundary, tutor-dense but weighted towards Indian-curriculum science rather than Diploma physics specifically.

Mirdif

South-east, fifteen to twenty-five minutes depending on the hour. Tutors serving Mirdif can add Al Twar without crossing the city, which keeps the travel component of a quote modest.

Muhaisnah

North-east along the Sharjah road. Short in distance and slow at the evening peak, so the time priced into a rate is higher than the map implies.

Al Garhoud

West past the airport, with Diploma provision and therefore more Diploma-literate physics tutors. Twenty-five to forty minutes at peak, and the quote reflects it.

Downtown and Business Bay

Where much of the specialist supply sits. Forty-five to sixty minutes to Al Twar at the evening peak, which is the travel premium in full and the clearest case for working on screen.

Academic City and Silicon Oasis

South-east, with university and school provision. A plausible source of physics tutors and a long cross-city drive to Al Twar on a weekday evening.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Twar

Al Twar, Al Qusais and Al Nahda

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Buy a diagnostic before buying a term

Four sessions with timed work in them, ending in a written statement of which fault is present and how many further hours it needs. That is a decidable purchase, and it is cheaper than a term aimed at the wrong theme.

Tell us the phase, not just the subject

DP1 autumn, the investigation window and the final six weeks need different arrangements at different intensities. The phase determines the shape of the plan more than the level does, and it determines what the money can realistically achieve.

  3. 03

We match on the current guide

A tutor teaching the current physics guide at your child's level, on Gulf Standard Time. Where no UAE-based specialist covers the requirement we say so before booking and name the fallback rather than substituting quietly.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson with timed work

A full session at no cost and no card details. Ask for a timed question in it, because untimed work conceals speed faults, and watch what the tutor does in the thirty seconds after an error rather than how well they explain.

  5. 05

    Scoped, reviewed and ended deliberately

Blocks have end dates and written outcomes. Weekly work is reviewed against the school's mock. We will say when the honest answer is fewer hours, a different component or a cheaper band.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Hours estimated rather than sold

Physics faults are a short, repeatable list, so a provider can and should tell you how many sessions a named fault needs. A refusal to estimate is a request to buy time rather than a result, and we would rather publish the numbers.

Diagnosis before a term is bought

The commonest expensive error in physics is funding field tuition for a mechanics problem. Four diagnostic sessions with timed work in them prevents a term of it, and we will say when the fault is actually mathematical.

Front-loaded advice, which is less profitable

We will tell you that a weekly hour in DP1 autumn is worth more than three hours in DP2 spring, because habits need months to form. That advice reduces what you spend with us, and it is the correct advice.

Rates published with their publishers

Tutopiya, EdFlik, Unitors, TutorChase, BartyED and Bestimate's 2026 survey appear beside their own figures, read in October 2026. IB Gram publishes a free trial and a consultation rather than an invented price list.

The investigation boundary is explicit

We question the research question, teach uncertainty treatment in general terms, and give feedback on the student's own draft. We will not write, draft, process data for or complete any part of it, and we say so to the student directly.

No home visits, no UAE premises, no regulator claims

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; that service runs only in India. We hold no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education or the IB, and occupy no UAE premises.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Twar: your questions answered

How many tutoring hours does a Diploma physics grade actually take?+

More predictably than parents expect, because the faults are a short list. A diagnostic block is four sessions. Repairing unit handling and rearrangement is typically three or four more. Vector discipline is about three. The data-based section of Paper 1 responds to four or five sets of unfamiliar data. A Standard Level foundation repair inside a Higher Level student is a term of weekly work. Full-paper technique before the series is eight to twelve sessions. Any provider unwilling to estimate is asking you to buy time rather than a result.

What does an IB physics tutor cost per hour in Dubai?+

Read in October 2026 and attributed to their publishers: IB and IGCSE specialists at roughly AED 200 to 450, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's survey agreeing; qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200; budget and university-student tutors from AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik at AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya at AED 33 to 52; in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 and up to AED 500 independently; and BartyED at AED 650. None of these is an IB Gram price.

Does IB Gram send a physics tutor to our home in Al Twar?+

No. IB Gram provides no home visits anywhere in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Physics tuition for an Al Twar family is delivered one-to-one over live video, with a shared screen for free-body diagrams, graph work and marked past papers. For physics that medium suits the diagnosis, because faults are found by watching working appear line by line, and it removes the travel premium a villa district behind Al Qusais otherwise pays twice a week.

My son is failing fields at Higher Level. Do we buy fields tuition?+

Probably not first. Field questions assume fluency with inverse-square reasoning, with potential as a scalar against field as a vector, and with graph interpretation, all of which rest on a secure mechanics foundation. A Higher Level student struggling with fields very often has unrepaired mechanics, and teaching fields on top produces a student who can quote relationships and cannot resolve a force. A four-session diagnostic with timed work establishes which it is, and prevents a term spent on the wrong theme.

Which phase of the two years deserves most of the budget?+

DP1 autumn, which is when almost nobody spends. The faults in physics are habits, and a habit needs months of reinforcement rather than hours of explanation. A student drilled on unit discipline in October has over a year of practice behind it by the papers; the same drilling in March has six weeks, enough to know the rule and not enough for it to survive a timed paper. The second priority is the investigation window, where early question-narrowing decides a fifth of the grade.

How much of the physics grade is the investigation worth?+

About a fifth at both Standard and Higher Level, which makes it the largest single assessment object in the course and the one most families resource last. Paper 2 carries about 44 per cent and Paper 1 about 36 per cent across its multiple-choice and data-based sections. Confirm the exact figures with your child's subject guide or IB coordinator, because assessment detail is revised between guides and the IB publishes the authoritative version rather than any tutoring page.

Can we pay for help finishing the investigation the week before it is due?+

No, and the economics of this component run backwards to most purchases. Early help is cheap and decisive: questioning a research question until the available apparatus can answer it is one session with outsized consequences. Late, the useful interventions have passed and the remaining ones would involve producing work that must be the student's own. We will not write, draft, process data for or complete any part of it. A malpractice finding falls on the student and can reach the whole Diploma.

Why does my daughter get the physics right and the answer wrong?+

Four causes account for most of it, and all are habits rather than knowledge. Units dropped or converted at the wrong point. An equation rearranged after substituting numbers rather than before, which hides a sign error. A vector treated as a scalar, usually because no diagram was drawn. And a final answer reported to a precision the data does not support. Each is diagnosable in one session with timed work and fixable in three or four, which is why a diagnostic block is the right first purchase.

Is group physics tutoring a sensible way to reduce cost?+

For part of the job, yes. Content teaching and worked examples transfer well to a matched pair or small group, because one well-chosen example answers the same question for everybody. Fault diagnosis does not transfer at all, since the fault sits in one student's working. The efficient pattern is mixed: group for content, one-to-one for the diagnostic block and the investigation. The condition is that the group is genuinely matched on level and papers, which is the thing to ask about before agreeing.

Should we drop to Standard Level physics instead of paying for tutoring?+

It is a legitimate question and the school is the right place to ask it, not a tutor with hours to sell. The honest test is whether the Higher Level difficulty is a repairable gap or a consistent ceiling. A student held back by an identifiable fault, such as rearrangement or vector handling, is a repair case. A student for whom the pace of Higher Level is consistently out of reach may do better at Standard Level with a higher grade. A diagnostic block gives you evidence to take into that conversation.

Is a budget tutor ever adequate for Diploma physics?+

For specific jobs, yes. Marking practice sets, drilling recall of definitions and relationships, and keeping work moving between specialist sessions are all tasks a careful tutor at the published budget band of AED 45 to 150 can do properly. What that band rarely buys is diagnosis, which is the ability to identify which of four look-alike faults is present from the first wrong line. Many families get the best result by mixing bands rather than buying entirely at one end.

What is the Paper 1 data-based section and why does it matter?+

It is the part of Paper 1 that presents an unfamiliar experiment and asks the student to interpret the data rather than recall anything. It matters because it is almost never drilled separately in school, since it sits across topics instead of inside one, and because students default to describing the table in front of them rather than using it to answer the question. Four or five sets of unfamiliar data, marked properly, change performance here inside a month. They are the cheapest marks in the course.

Does an in-home physics tutor in Al Twar cost more for a reason?+

Yes, and the reason is travel rather than teaching. Bestimate quotes in-home one-to-one in Dubai at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors up to AED 500, against AED 150 to 300 for qualified online tutors. A tutor coming to Al Twar from central Dubai at the evening peak spends forty to sixty minutes each way. There is also a quieter cost: the hard stop for their next appointment usually removes the last ten minutes, which in physics is often when the real question finally gets asked.

How do I tell whether a physics tutor can diagnose?+

Ask for a timed question in the trial lesson, then watch the thirty seconds after your child gets something wrong. A tutor who re-explains the topic has given you company. A tutor who asks a question designed to establish whether the fault is units, rearrangement order, a vector treated as a scalar or a precision error has given you diagnosis. Then ask what the first four sessions would contain; a named fault and an hours estimate is a plan, while a list of themes is just the syllabus.

Can one tutor take physics and maths together?+

Sometimes, and when they can it is genuinely efficient, because a large share of physics losses are mathematical: rearrangement, trigonometry, gradients and standard form. A tutor who sees that treats the cause rather than the symptom. The honest caveat is availability: physics with Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level in one tutor is a limited match in the UAE-based pool, and we will tell you whether we are offering that or two tutors rather than leaving you to find out.

Is the private tutoring permit expensive for the tutor?+

It costs nothing, which is why asking about it is a useful test. The UAE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own private tutor licensing service, which lists a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those without one face fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Buy a diagnostic, then buy the hours it names

If you are looking for an IB physics tutor in Al Twar, the cheapest sensible first purchase is not a term. It is four sessions with timed work in them, ending in a written statement of which fault is present and how many further hours it needs. From there the published market bands on this page let you cost the plan before you commit to it. The trial lesson is free, needs no card details, and should include a timed question so you see speed as well as understanding. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and we change the tutor at no cost if the match is wrong.
