IB MYP Arts Home Tutor in Dubai

Three of the six pages ranking for an IB MYP Arts home tutor in Dubai publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars. This page publishes the AED bands the Dubai market actually charges, names who publishes each figure, and sets out the eight things that move the number in this emirate. It then explains why IB Gram delivers these sessions as one-to-one online tuition rather than as home visits, and what that removes from the invoice.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

What this actually costs in Dubai, and why nobody will tell you

Price is the first question every parent asks and the one this corner of the market refuses to answer. Of the competitor pages examined for this project, three published no figure at all, one published an hourly rate that contradicted its own structured data, and two quoted in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family transacts in. One page's own frequently asked questions asked how much tutoring costs and then declined to say. So here are the numbers, attributed, with the date they were read.

Across Dubai providers in October 2026: budget online tutoring, often delivered by university students, runs roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik listing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor working online runs AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. An in-home one-to-one visit runs AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate. An IB or IGCSE specialist runs AED 200 to 450 or more, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650 for examiner-led work. Monthly packages advertised in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

None of those are IB Gram's prices and this page does not publish one, for a reason worth stating. An MYP 2 student rotating through three arts disciplines for a term each, an MYP 4 student who needs two sessions on writing a real artistic intention, and an MYP 5 student with an exhibition in three weeks and an empty process journal are three different jobs. A single number for all three would be either dishonest or useless. Our first lesson is free, and the rate is quoted after it, when the scope is known.

What is worth your attention is the second half of this page: the eight factors that actually move a Dubai rate. Discipline scarcity matters, because arts specialists are a thinner pool than maths tutors. Community matters, because the travel component of an in-home rate is distance. Timing matters, because demand spikes before school exhibitions and productions. Session length, package commitment, group size, tutor status and whether marking between sessions is included all move the figure, often by more than the headline band suggests.

One structural saving is worth naming at the start. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. Lessons here are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. That removes the forty to fifty minutes of term-time driving each way that sits inside every Dubai in-home rate, and it removes the geographic filter that selects an arts tutor by postcode before expertise. For a subject assessed largely through a journal and recordings, neither is a loss.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost behaves differently across the three IB programmes, mostly because the amount of documented work a student has to sustain rises sharply at each stage.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Arts tutoring at this stage is rarely about grades and usually about instrument lessons or enjoyment, so the market is the general music and art teaching market rather than the IB specialist one. Rates sit lower, and the cheapest effective spend is usually materials and gallery visits rather than tuition hours.

Dubai school arts enrichment is often included in fees or offered as a paid after-school club at modest cost, which is better value than private tuition for a nine-year-old. Ask the school what is already available before paying anyone an hourly rate for something the timetable supplies.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11, labelled MYP 1 to MYP 5

Middle Years Programme

Where specialist rates start to apply, because the work becomes criterion-referenced and a general art or music teacher cannot mark it. The rate reflects scarcity: a tutor who knows the four MYP Arts criteria and reads a process journal as an assessor would is a narrower pool than a tutor who can teach drawing.

Dubai schools often run arts on rotation through MYP 1 to 3, which means short bursts of need rather than sustained tutoring. Families who understand that buy four sessions around an assessment point rather than a year of weekly lessons, and spend considerably less for a better result.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Group 6 subjects carry substantial documented components over eighteen months, so demand is sustained rather than bursty and the specialist premium is at its highest. This is also where examiner-led providers quote their top rates, and where the question of what that premium actually buys deserves a direct answer.

Dubai DP arts cohorts are small, which cuts both ways: specialist supply is thin, and school teachers are usually accessible. Before paying a specialist premium, check what the school's own Group 6 teacher offers in terms of feedback, because it is frequently more than families assume.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

What families in Dubai pay for inside MYP Arts, and roughly where each sits in the market. Arts disciplines differ in supply, which is the main reason two quotes for apparently the same service differ by a hundred dirhams.

MYP Visual Arts, criteria and journal work

MYP 1-5

The best-supplied arts discipline in Dubai and therefore the most competitively priced. Plenty of practising artists teach; the narrower pool is those who mark against the four criteria. Expect the qualified-subject band rather than the budget band if criterion marking is included.

MYP Music performance

MYP 1-5

Priced as instrumental teaching, which is a separate and well-established Dubai market with its own rates. Worth separating from MYP criterion support: an instrumental teacher raising technique and a tutor evidencing Criterion C are different purchases, and paying one rate for both usually gets one of them.

MYP Music composition

MYP 3-5

Thinner supply than performance teaching and priced accordingly. The work is mostly intention and structure rather than notation software, and two or three sessions on turning a vague brief into a testable musical intention typically achieves more than a term of general lessons.

MYP Drama and theatre

MYP 1-5

Ensemble assessment means the valuable work is individual journal evidence, which is desk work and does not need a studio. Supply in Dubai is moderate. Sessions cluster around production periods, so booking early matters more for availability than for price.

MYP Film and media arts

MYP 3-5

Technical vocabulary is teachable and reliably worth marks, and the whole discipline sits naturally on a screen, so online delivery carries no penalty at all. Supply is thin in Dubai, which pushes it towards the specialist band.

MYP Dance

MYP 1-5

The thinnest arts supply in this market, because fewer Dubai schools offer it within MYP Arts. Criterion and journal work transfers from other disciplines, which is often the practical answer when no dance specialist is available at a sensible rate.

Process journal and intention sessions

MYP 1-5

Discipline-agnostic, because the four criteria are identical across art forms. This is the cheapest high-value purchase in the subject: a handful of sessions on stating and exploring an artistic intention, applicable whether the student paints, composes or performs.

Criterion D critique coaching

MYP 3-5

Structured critique writing, usually two to four sessions. Pairs well with a Dubai gallery or venue visit the family arranges themselves, which costs little or nothing and supplies better material than any textbook. The strand most often left unevidenced and among the cheapest to fix.

Exhibition and showcase preparation

MYP 4-5

A fixed block before a school event, covering realisation of the stated intention, curatorial or programme-note writing and the response strand. Demand spikes here, which is the one point in the Dubai year when availability rather than price is the binding constraint.

Group 6 transition planning

MYP 5 into DP1

One or two sessions, often the best-value purchase of all: a frank read of the journal against what Visual Arts, Music, Theatre or Film will demand over eighteen months, before the options form is signed. Cheaper than a term of DP1 catch-up tutoring by an order of magnitude.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways families buy MYP Arts support, with the cost logic of each. All are delivered online one-to-one over live video.

Pay-as-you-go single sessions

The most expensive per hour and the right choice when the need is narrow: two sessions to write a real artistic intention, or one to read a journal against the criteria before an internal deadline. No commitment, no package discount, and nothing wasted if the need turns out to be smaller than feared.

  • Highest per-hour rate, lowest total spend for a narrow need
  • No commitment beyond the session booked
  • Suits the MYP 1 to 3 rotation pattern, where need is bursty
  • Free trial lesson first, so the first hour costs nothing

Fixed block of four to six sessions

The common choice before an exhibition, showcase or internal assessment point. Blocks are quoted as a whole and end on a date rather than rolling on. Ask any provider whether unused sessions carry over or lapse, and whether marking between sessions is inside the price or billed separately.

  • Quoted as a block with a stated end date
  • No automatic renewal at the end
  • Ask what happens to unused sessions before you pay
  • Marking between sessions stated as included or not

Fortnightly through a unit

Lowest cost per month for sustained support, and the right cadence for journal work, because arts development happens between sessions rather than during them. A fortnightly arrangement over a ten-week unit costs roughly half a weekly one and frequently achieves more.

  • Half the monthly cost of weekly sessions
  • Work set between sessions and reviewed in the next
  • Suits intention, exploration and critique work
  • Switch to weekly only for discipline technique work

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Dubai

Tutors below work in MYP arts disciplines and quote after a free trial lesson rather than from a published price list, because an MYP 2 student on a rotation and an MYP 5 student three weeks from an exhibition are different pieces of work.

01

The Dubai market, tier by tier, with sources and dates

Below is the rate table this market has been avoiding. Each band is attributed to the provider or survey that published it, and the whole table was read in October 2026. Rates move, so treat the date as part of the figure. None of these are IB Gram's prices, and we have not put ours in the table because a single number across MYP 1 to MYP 5 and five arts disciplines would be meaningless.

Two observations about the shape of it. The spread is enormous — a factor of roughly fourteen between the bottom of the budget band and the top of the premium one — and the middle is where almost all honest MYP arts work happens. A tutor at AED 45 an hour is not marking against four criteria and reading a process journal as an assessor would; a tutor at AED 650 is usually selling examiner status, which for MYP arts is close to meaningless because MYP portfolio work is moderated rather than examined in the way Diploma components are.

The second observation is that the in-home band overlaps the specialist band without delivering specialist expertise. AED 180 to 500 buys a person in the room, selected substantially by who will make the drive. AED 200 to 450 buys a subject specialist selected from a national or international pool. Those are different products at a similar price, and the comparison is the single most useful thing a Dubai parent can hold in their head while making calls.

One compliance note on every figure here. We are not stating how UAE VAT applies to tuition fees, because we have no Federal Tax Authority citation for it and publishing a tax position without one would be irresponsible across thousands of pages. What you should do is ask any provider two direct questions: is the quoted figure inclusive of VAT, and do you hold a Tax Registration Number. A provider who cannot answer both quickly is telling you something about their invoicing.

02

The eight things that move the number in Dubai

A band of AED 150 to 450 is wide enough to be unhelpful unless you know what pushes a quote up or down inside it. These eight factors explain almost every difference between two apparently identical quotes, and knowing them turns a negotiation into a specification: you can ask for the version of the service you actually need rather than accepting whichever one a provider defaults to.

Scarcity of the discipline is the largest single factor in arts. Visual arts teaching is well supplied in Dubai; dance and composition are not. A provider quoting for a dance specialist in this market is quoting against thin supply, and the honest answer is sometimes that criterion work from another arts discipline delivers more per dirham than paying a scarcity premium for the exact art form.

Travel is the second and it is purely geographic. The forty to fifty minutes each way between the Al Barsha school belt and the outer southern communities in term-time traffic is real cost. A sixty-minute in-home session in Remraam can carry more travel than teaching, which is why providers quote the top of their band for distance rather than for difficulty.

The other six are timing, session length, commitment, group size, tutor status and inclusions. Demand spikes before exhibitions and productions, which tightens availability more than it raises published rates. Ninety-minute sessions usually carry a lower per-hour figure than sixty. Blocks and packages discount against single sessions. Group work is cheaper per student and weaker on individual diagnosis. Claimed examiner status commands a premium that means little at MYP level. And whether marking between sessions is included is the inclusion that differs most often between two quotes at the same headline rate.

Tutoring cost in context: the whole Dubai arts line in a household budget

An hourly rate in isolation tells you nothing about affordability. Set against school fees, materials, instrument costs and the occasional exhibition expense, tutoring is usually a smaller line than families fear and a more variable one than they expect. Putting the whole picture on one page also tends to change the decision, because it reveals where the cheap wins are.

The anchor for the Dubai context is a real and dated fact: KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. School costs are flat this year. For context on the sector's scale, Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 different curricula in 2024-25, and the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools creating 16,846 places.

Against that, the arts line is modest and front-loadable. A term of visual arts consumables is tens of dirhams rather than hundreds if bought sensibly. Gallery access in Dubai is often free, which makes the single most valuable Criterion D activity available at no cost. Instrument hire or purchase is the one genuinely large item, and school schemes frequently undercut retail. The tutoring itself, at fortnightly cadence through one unit, is a smaller annual figure than most families assume once they stop pricing it as weekly for a year.

The table puts the items side by side with periods attached, so they can be compared honestly. Figures marked as indicative are budgeting aids rather than quotations: they move, and your own receipts are the only numbers that belong in a project costing or a household spreadsheet. Note also what is not in the table, because we do not have a sourced figure for it: how VAT applies to tuition in the UAE, which you should establish directly with any provider.

Why the in-home premium exists, and the one thing it genuinely buys

  • The one real in-home benefit is supervision of attention, mostly for younger students
  • The rest of the premium is driving, parking, access and reduced daily capacity
  • For thin-supply arts disciplines, in-home substitutes a generalist for a specialist
  • Our answer is session design and a readable record, not a postcode
  • The free trial lesson lets you test attention on video before paying

It would be easy to present the in-home premium as pure waste, and that would be unfair. There is one thing a person in the room buys that a screen does not, and it is worth naming honestly before explaining why we still do not sell it in the UAE: supervision of attention. A twelve-year-old who drifts is harder to drift past when an adult is sitting at the same table. For some students at some ages, that is a real service and it is what parents are actually buying.

Everything else in the premium is logistics. Forty to fifty minutes of term-time driving each way between the school belt and the outer communities. Building access, visitor parking, lift queues in the tower communities, security gates in the villa compounds. A tutor who can serve three households a day instead of five has to price accordingly, and that arithmetic is why Dubai in-home rates sit at AED 180 to 500 rather than at the online band.

The hidden cost is larger than the visible one for a minority subject. An in-home arts tutor is drawn from whoever will make that drive on a Tuesday at five. For visual arts in a central community that pool is adequate. For composition, film or dance it is close to empty, and what gets substituted is a general art or music teacher who cannot mark against four criteria or read a process journal the way a moderator will. The family pays a premium and receives a less specialist service, which is the worst available combination.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. Our answer to the attention problem is structural rather than geographic: shorter sessions where appropriate, work set between them, a parent-readable record of what was marked, and a free trial lesson so a family can see how their own child behaves on a video session before paying for anything. For most MYP-age students, with a journal and a stated intention to work from, that is sufficient.

05

Group classes, school provision and the free options nobody mentions

A page about cost that only compares private tutoring options is not being straight with you. For a good number of Dubai MYP arts students, the right answer is not a tutor at all, and saying so costs us a booking and keeps the page honest. Three alternatives deserve checking before anybody pays an hourly rate.

The first is the school's own arts department. MYP arts teachers in Dubai are generally accessible, and the single most useful thing a student can do is ask their teacher which criterion is weakest and what evidence is missing from the journal. That conversation is free, authoritative and specific to the school's own marking. Many families pay for a tutor to deliver a less accurate version of it because nobody thought to ask.

The second is school enrichment. Arts clubs, ensembles, productions and studio access are often included in fees or offered at modest cost, and they generate exactly the sustained practice and documented development that Criterion B and C reward. An hour of supervised studio time a week for a term usually does more for a visual arts grade than four paid sessions.

The third is the city itself. Gallery access in Dubai is frequently free, including the commercial spaces at Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz and institutional programming elsewhere. A student who visits, photographs, annotates and writes four structured sentences about one work has produced Criterion D evidence at no cost. Group classes at Dubai tuition centres, at roughly AED 90 to 180 per student, sit between these free options and one-to-one: fine for shared technique and vocabulary, weak for individual criterion diagnosis. Where a tutor is genuinely the right purchase, it is usually for intention, critique and journal structure, which are the things a club cannot supply.

06

Eight questions to ask before you pay any Dubai tutor

  • Does the tutor hold a current MoHRE private tuition work permit?
  • Is the quoted figure VAT-inclusive, and do you hold a TRN?
  • Is marking between sessions inside the rate or billed separately?
  • What happens if the match is wrong, and does a replacement cost anything?
  • Do unused package sessions lapse, carry over or get returned?
  • What notice is needed to cancel a single session?
  • What will we have in writing after four weeks?
  • Who employs the tutor, and does any student attend their own school?

Hourly rate is the least informative question in this market, because two providers at AED 250 can be selling substantially different things. These eight questions separate them, they can all be asked in a single phone call, and the speed and specificity of the answers is itself diagnostic. A provider who answers all eight directly is a different proposition from one who redirects to a sales call.

Ask whether the tutor holds a current MoHRE private tuition work permit. Private tuition in the UAE runs under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, the permit is granted free of charge for two years, and u.ae states that individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so any amount quoted at you is unverifiable. Ask who employs the tutor, and ask whether any student they teach attends their own school, because in Abu Dhabi ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid tutoring of their own enrolled students and the permit's code of conduct points the same way.

Ask whether the quoted figure includes VAT and whether the provider holds a Tax Registration Number. Ask whether marking between sessions is inside the rate. Ask what happens if the match is wrong, and whether a replacement costs anything. Ask whether unused sessions in a package lapse or carry over. Ask what the cancellation notice is on a single session. And ask for one sentence describing what your child will have in writing after four weeks.

Two things nobody should be able to offer you. A promise of a particular grade, which no tutor can deliver in any subject and which is a reliable signal to walk away. And any form of standing in for the student: a provider offering to supply a finished Personal Project report, or to make arts work a student then submits as their own, is proposing something that puts the student at risk of an IB academic-honesty finding, not the tutor. One competitor in this market sells completed Internal Assessments. That is the standard the honest end of the market is being compared against.

07

What IB Gram actually charges, and why the first lesson is free

We do not publish a single rate for this page, and the reason is not coyness. MYP Arts spans five disciplines and five year groups, and the work ranges from two sessions writing an artistic intention to a six-session exhibition block with journal marking between each one. A headline number across all of that would have to be either the highest figure, which would be dishonest, or an average, which would be useless to everyone.

What we do instead: the first lesson is free, it produces something you keep, and the rate is quoted after it when the scope is known. The free lesson is sixty minutes with an arts specialist who reads the journal as an assessor would and ends the session with your child having written a real artistic intention for their current piece. There is no card required to book it and no obligation afterwards. If the tutor is not right for your child, you have spent an hour and gained an intention and a journal diagnosis.

Where we sit in the bands above: the qualified-subject and IB-specialist tiers, not the budget tier, because criterion marking and journal reading take time outside the lesson and a rate that does not cover that produces a tutor who does not do it. We are not in the premium examiner-led tier, because examiner positioning has little meaning for MYP portfolio work and we do not describe tutors as examiners without current evidence of that status.

Three things we will not do, stated plainly because the alternative is implied by silence. We hold no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation, licensing or partnership, and we will not imply one; we are an independent tutor-matching platform. We make no promise about a grade or a level of improvement, in arts or anything else. And a tutor will not make work or write journal entries a student submits as their own, because the consequence of that falls on your child.

08

Timing the spend across a Dubai school year

Most families overspend on arts tutoring by buying it evenly across the year when the need is lumpy. Dubai MYP arts assessment clusters: unit assessment points through the term, an exhibition or showcase before the winter break, a whole-school production often in the spring, and for MYP 5 a portfolio deadline that the school sets well ahead of anything external. Spending matched to those points costs less and achieves more than a flat weekly commitment.

The highest-value purchase in the year is early and small: one or two sessions at the start of a unit to write a real artistic intention and set up the journal. Everything downstream in Criteria C and D depends on that, and it costs a fraction of trying to reconstruct it at the end. The second highest-value purchase is a short block before the school's own assessment point, focused on realisation and critique rather than on new making.

Ramadan and the holiday periods change availability as well as timing. School days shorten, rehearsal and studio access changes, and the weeks either side of long breaks are poor bets for anything needing a full cast or a technician. Sessions shift to early afternoon or after iftar, and for arts the early-afternoon slot often works well because journal and critique work tolerates a quieter kind of attention than performance practice does. Book the shift a fortnight ahead; the good slots go first.

One last piece of arithmetic worth doing before committing to anything. Count the sessions you would buy across a year on a weekly basis, multiply by the band you have been quoted, and compare that figure with a fortnightly cadence through two units plus one six-session block before an exhibition. The second plan is usually a little over half the cost of the first, and for journal-led criteria it is the better pedagogy as well as the cheaper one. That is a genuinely unusual position for a tutoring page to take, and it is the one the evidence supports.

Where we tutor

Dubai communities and what the travel component looks like from each

The in-home portion of a Dubai tutoring rate is distance and traffic. These are the communities we hear from most, with what an in-home arrangement would actually involve from each, and what an online slot removes.

Jumeirah Village Triangle

Villa and townhouse community with a long run to the Al Barsha and Al Quoz school belt. An in-home arts tutor here is typically quoted at the middle of the AED 180 to 500 band, with most of the premium accounted for by the Al Khail Road crawl at five in the afternoon.

Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens

Dense, Metro-served and growing fast, with several schools in or near the community. In-home supply is better than in outlying areas and the travel premium correspondingly lower, though arts specialists remain a thinner pool than core-subject tutors wherever you live.

Remraam and Dubailand South

Among the longest tutor journeys in the city. Several Dubai providers quote the top of their in-home band for communities this far out, which means a sixty-minute session can carry more travel cost than teaching cost. The clearest case for online delivery anywhere in the emirate.

Dubai Sports City

Compact and well served by schools within the development, so in-home travel is short and the premium small. Here the argument for online is not cost but supply: a local general art tutor is easy to find and a tutor who reads a process journal as an assessor would is not.

Al Qusais and Al Nahda

Established, densely populated and close to the older school cluster. Tutoring is priced competitively across this corridor because supply is high, and families here are more likely than most to be comparing a tuition centre group rate against private one-to-one.

Bur Dubai and Oud Metha

Long-standing schools, short distances and the lowest in-home travel component in the city. Also the easiest place to buy art materials cheaply, which matters more to a visual arts budget than most families expect once they add up a term of consumables.

Mirdif and Uptown Mirdif

Family housing with late school-bus arrivals, pushing weekday sessions to half past six and shrinking the window an in-home tutor can realistically serve. Weekend slots are the usual answer, and they are the slots that cost the most to secure in person.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Furjan, JVT and Dubai Sports City

Western and southern communities where several schools added IB programmes relatively recently. Students we support here are often in early MYP cohorts, so families are buying short bursts of criterion support around assessment points rather than sustained weekly tuition.

  • Sunmarke School
  • Arcadia Global School
  • The Arbor School
  • GEMS Founders School Al Furjan
  • Victory Heights Primary School

Dubailand, Remraam and The Sustainable City

The outer southern belt, where travel distances make the in-home arithmetic worst and the online case strongest. Students we support in this cluster commonly book exhibition-preparation blocks, where availability rather than hourly rate is what families end up competing for.

  • Fairgreen International School
  • The Aquila School
  • GEMS Metropole School
  • South View School
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Schools are named to describe the Dubai school landscape and because students we support attend them; IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any school, school group or examination board.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the discipline, the year and the deadline

Which art form, which MYP year, which school, and the next date anything is actually assessed. The deadline matters more than the subject for pricing, because a six-session exhibition block and two sessions on an artistic intention are different purchases with different totals.

  2. 02

Take the free trial lesson first

Sixty minutes with an arts specialist, no payment and no card. The tutor reads the journal as an assessor would, and the session ends with your child having written a real artistic intention for their current piece. You keep that and the written journal diagnosis whatever you decide afterwards.

  3. 03

Get the quote in writing, with inclusions listed

After the trial we quote for the scope that the trial established, stating session length, whether marking between sessions is included, what happens to unused sessions and what a rematch costs. Ask the same of anyone else you are considering; the comparison is only meaningful at that level of detail.

  4. 04

Choose the cadence that fits the criteria

Fortnightly for journal, intention and critique work, because development happens between sessions. Weekly only for discipline technique. A fixed block before a school event. We will say which we think fits and why, including when the answer is fewer sessions than you asked for.

  5. 05

Review at the school's assessment point, then stop or continue

Arrangements end on a date rather than rolling on. At the school's assessment point the journal is read again against all four criteria and the gaps listed, and that is the natural moment to continue, change focus, change tutor or finish. Finishing is a normal outcome.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The numbers are on the page, attributed

Every AED band here names the provider or survey that published it and the month it was read. Three of the six competitor pages examined for this project publish no price at all and two quote in dollars. A sourced figure you can check beats a rate quoted on a sales call.

No travel in the rate, because there is no travel

Dubai in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 an hour carry forty to fifty minutes of term-time driving each way. Online delivery removes that and the geographic filter behind it, which for thin-supply arts disciplines is the difference between a specialist and whoever was nearby.

We will tell you when not to buy

The school's own arts teacher, school enrichment and free gallery access solve a fair share of MYP arts problems at no cost, and that is on this page in full. Where a tutor is the right purchase, it is usually for intention, critique and journal structure rather than for hours.

Fortnightly recommended over weekly where it fits

For journal-led criteria, development happens between sessions, so a fortnightly cadence through two units plus one pre-exhibition block costs little over half a weekly year and usually achieves more. We say so even though it halves the invoice.

The first lesson is free and leaves something behind

No card, no obligation, sixty minutes with a specialist. You keep a written journal diagnosis against the four criteria and a real artistic intention for the current piece. Any condition attached to a free offer should be stated on the same screen, and those are the only two: one lesson, one student.

Nothing claimed that cannot be shown

No regulator or board approval, because we hold none. No promises about what grade a student will reach. No examiner status without current evidence. No producing work a student submits as their own. And no fine amounts quoted for permit breaches, because no schedule is published.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does an MYP Arts tutor cost per hour in Dubai?+

Published Dubai rates read in October 2026 span roughly AED 45 to 150 for budget online tutoring, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 180 to 500 for an in-home visit with travel inside the rate, AED 200 to 450 or more for an IB specialist, and AED 650 at the premium end from one provider. Those are other providers' published figures, not ours. Honest MYP arts work, with criterion marking and journal reading, sits in the middle two bands. IB Gram quotes after a free trial lesson.

Why is an in-home arts tutor in Dubai so much more expensive?+

Mostly driving. Forty to fifty minutes each way in term-time traffic between the school belt and the outer communities sits inside the rate whether or not it is itemised, along with parking, building access and the fact that a tutor can serve fewer households a day. The second cost is invisible and larger for a minority subject: the tutor is drawn from whoever will make that drive, so in arts you often pay a premium and receive a generalist rather than a criterion specialist.

Does the rate differ between visual arts, music and drama?+

Yes, and the driver is supply rather than difficulty. Visual arts teaching is well supplied in Dubai and prices competitively. Music performance is priced as instrumental teaching, a separate and established market. Composition, film and dance are thinner, which pushes quotes towards the specialist band. Because the four MYP Arts criteria are identical across disciplines, intention and critique work transfers, so paying a scarcity premium for an exact art form is sometimes avoidable without losing anything.

Do tutoring rates in Dubai rise before exhibitions and productions?+

Published rates mostly hold; availability is what changes. Demand clusters in the weeks before a school exhibition, showcase or production, and the usable weekday slots between half past five and half past seven fill first. The practical consequence is that booking a pre-event block three or four weeks ahead costs the same as booking it one week ahead and is far more likely to get the slot you want. For MYP 5 portfolio deadlines the same applies, earlier.

Is the figure quoted per hour or per lesson, and is marking included?+

Ask both, because providers differ and the second question is where two equal-looking quotes separate. A ninety-minute session usually carries a lower per-hour figure than a sixty-minute one, since set-up cost spreads over more teaching. Marking between sessions takes real time outside the lesson: reading a process journal properly against four criteria is not a five-minute job, so a rate that does not account for it tends to produce a tutor who does not do it.

Is VAT included in a Dubai tutoring rate?+

Ask the provider directly, and ask whether they hold a Tax Registration Number. We deliberately do not state how UAE VAT applies to tuition fees on these pages, because we have no Federal Tax Authority citation for it and publishing a tax position without one across thousands of pages would be irresponsible. What matters to you is narrower and answerable: is the number you have been quoted the number you will pay, and can the provider invoice you properly.

What does a realistic monthly arts tutoring budget look like in Dubai?+

Lower than most families assume, because the need is lumpy rather than constant. A fortnightly cadence through a ten-week unit is five sessions, not twenty. Add a four-to-six session block before an exhibition or portfolio deadline and that is a year's sensible spend for most MYP arts students. Advertised packages in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions, which gives a sense of the scale. Count sessions against assessment points rather than against weeks and the figure drops sharply.

How much should we budget for arts materials and instruments?+

Visual arts consumables for a term run roughly AED 60 to 250 bought at Dubai stationers and Al Quoz suppliers, and those are indicative ranges rather than quotations. Gallery access in this city is frequently free, which makes the highest-value Criterion D activity cost nothing. Instrument hire or purchase is the one genuinely large item, and school music departments often run schemes that undercut retail, so ask there before buying. Keep receipts; they are also project evidence.

Is a package cheaper than paying session by session?+

Usually, because providers trade a discount for certainty. Advertised examples in the Dubai market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Before paying for one, ask three questions: do unused sessions lapse, carry over or come back to you; what notice cancels a single session; and is marking between sessions included. A package with unfavourable answers to those is more expensive than it looks.

Are group arts classes better value than one-to-one?+

Cheaper per student and weaker on the thing MYP Arts grades turn on. Dubai tuition centres commonly advertise group rates around AED 90 to 180 per student, and a group is a reasonable way to buy shared technique and vocabulary. What a group cannot easily deliver is individual criterion diagnosis: whether this student's artistic intention is a theme word, whether their journal shows exploration, whether their critique analyses or merely approves. That work is individual by nature.

What are the free or low-cost options in Dubai before we pay anyone?+

Three, all worth exhausting first. The school's own arts teacher, who can say which criterion is weakest and what the journal is missing, free and specific to that school's marking. School enrichment: arts clubs, ensembles, productions and studio access, often included in fees, which generate exactly the documented development Criteria B and C reward. And the city: gallery access here is frequently free, including the Al Quoz spaces, so structured critique of real work costs nothing but a Saturday.

What happens if we stop after the first paid session?+

You stop. Our first lesson is free in any case, and paid arrangements are quoted as single sessions or as blocks with a stated end date rather than as rolling commitments. Ask any Dubai provider what notice cancels a session and what happens to a part-used package before you pay, because that answer varies far more across this market than the hourly rate does. No tutor can promise a particular outcome, so an arrangement you can leave cleanly is the protection that actually matters.

Does a higher rate mean a better tutor for MYP Arts?+

Up to a point, then no. Below roughly the qualified-subject band, a rate cannot cover the time it takes to read a process journal against four criteria, so marking tends not to happen. Above the specialist band, the premium is usually examiner positioning, which means little for MYP portfolio work because it is moderated rather than examined as Diploma components are. The useful question is not the number but what the number includes: criterion marking, journal reading, and a specialist in the right discipline.

Do you charge more for a tutor to visit our home in Dubai?+

We do not offer it at any price. IB Gram does not provide home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. UAE lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. For MYP Arts that removes the travel component from the rate and widens the tutor pool from a drive radius to a specialist market, which matters most in exactly the disciplines where Dubai supply is thinnest: composition, film and dance.

Is a private tuition permit something we end up paying for?+

No, and nobody should be passing a cost for it to you. The MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit face fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no schedule of amounts is published.

Price the scope, not the hour

The useful question is not what an hour costs in Dubai but how many hours this actually needs, and that is answerable in one free lesson. An arts specialist reads the process journal against the four criteria, your child writes a real artistic intention for their current piece, and you get both in writing along with a list of the strands that have nothing pointing at them. Then the quote covers that scope: two sessions, a fortnightly unit, or a block before an exhibition. No card to book, no obligation afterwards, and no travel in the rate because nobody is driving. Tell us the discipline, the MYP year and the next date anything is assessed.
