IB Home Tutor in Al Khail Gate

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Al Khail Gate are usually buying at the wrong point in a two-year programme. The Diploma is decided by internal deadlines that arrive long before any examination: subject levels in term one of Year 12, the Extended Essay question by mid-year, internal assessments across both years. This page sets that calendar out, prices the in-home option honestly, and explains why our lessons for Al Khail Gate run live online on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Al Khail Gate

The Diploma is a calendar problem before it is a teaching problem

Most families buy Diploma tutoring in Year 13, after a mock. By then the subject levels are fixed, the Extended Essay question is set, two or three internal assessments are submitted or nearly so, and the only remaining variable is paper technique. That is a real variable and worth money, but it is the last and smallest of several, and it is the one bought at the highest price under the most pressure.

The decisions that actually determine a Diploma score happen earlier and quietly. Which six subjects, at which three Higher Levels. Which mathematics course. Whether the Extended Essay question is narrow enough to argue. Whether each internal assessment's design can reach the top of its criteria. Whether the student can carry the load they have chosen. Every one of those is a Year 12 question, and every one of them is cheaper to influence then than to compensate for later.

That makes the Diploma unusual among qualifications a Dubai family might buy support for. An IGCSE problem can often be fixed in a term. A Diploma problem noticed in Year 13 is frequently a Year 12 decision that cannot be reversed. A student in Analysis and Approaches Higher Level who should be in Applications Standard Level is carrying a structural disadvantage that no quantity of sessions in the final term undoes.

The calendar also explains why support spread evenly across two years wastes money. The load is not flat. Term one of Year 12 is decision-heavy and teaching-light. The middle of Year 12 is internal-assessment design and Extended Essay question setting. Year 13 winter is completion and mocks. Year 13 final term is papers. A plan that matches that shape uses perhaps a third of the hours an evenly spread plan would, for more effect.

The second thing this page does is answer the home-tutoring question properly rather than deflecting it. In-home tutoring in Dubai is a genuine market with published rates, real advantages for some students and a measurable cost in travel. A family in Al Khail Gate deserves the actual numbers and the actual trade, not an assertion that online is better. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service runs only in India, and the comparison below is there so the choice is informed rather than assumed.

What follows is the two-year calendar laid out term by term, the in-home premium priced against it, what the Al Khail Gate commute does to a weekday evening, and where the academic-honesty boundary sits across a programme in which most of the assessed work is written at home. Read it once at the start of Year 12 and the rest of the programme becomes a scheduling exercise rather than a series of surprises, which is a better position for a household to be in than any amount of last-term intensity can buy.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Khail Gate families reach the Diploma by several routes, and the entry route changes what the first year of support should do.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, graded 1 to 7 for a maximum of forty-two, plus up to three core points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay combined on a published matrix. CAS is a completion requirement. Each subject grade combines external papers with internal assessment at published shares.

In Dubai the Diploma is offered by a minority of private schools, with International Baccalaureate students around seven per cent of private enrolment against thirty-seven per cent on UK curricula. Al Khail Gate families generally commute to IB schools in Al Barsha South, Nad Al Sheba or the Sobha Hartland area rather than finding one on the doorstep.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

The IB's feeder programme, assessed against four criteria out of eight each rather than on papers. Students arriving in the Diploma from MYP bring documented process habits and independent research skills, and almost no practice at writing a complete argument to a clock.

The practical consequence for a Dubai family is that an MYP-entry student usually needs a timed-writing block in term one of Year 12, while an IGCSE-entry student needs the opposite: help with independent research and extended writing rather than with examination technique.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE as the Diploma entry route

The commonest feeder in Dubai, since UK curricula dominate enrolment. The tier matters: Cambridge Extended or Pearson Higher covers algebraic and scientific content the Diploma assumes, while Core or Foundation omits topics Higher Level courses treat as prior knowledge.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge IGCSE in the June and November series; the February/March series is offered to India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with its November 2026 final timetable running from late October to 19 November 2026.

CPAges 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller IB route combining Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective project, offered by a few UAE schools. Subject tutoring works identically for the Diploma courses taken within it; the core requirements and the final certificate differ.

Worth asking about directly if a Dubai school presents it as an alternative, because for university entry and for Ministry of Education equivalency the Career-related Programme and the full Diploma are not interchangeable. The school's admissions office will state plainly which certificate a student ends with.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These subjects generate the most Al Khail Gate requests, described here by when in the two years the work has to happen rather than by syllabus content.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The level and route decision belongs to term one of Year 12 and is specified by many STEM degrees. The exploration topic should be settled by mid-Year 12; left to Year 13 it becomes the piece of work that competes with mock revision.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics with technology throughout. A rigorous course aimed at different destinations rather than an easier one, and the right choice for many students, provided the intended degree does not specify Analysis and Approaches.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The scientific investigation needs a viable research question by mid-Year 12, because a design that cannot generate usable data caps the analysis criteria later. Organic mechanisms and energetics are the predictable paper weaknesses in Year 13.

Physics

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency is the gatekeeper and shows in term one of Year 12, which makes it the cheapest moment to address. Graph interpretation and uncertainty handling carry weight across both the papers and the investigation.

Biology

HL and SL

Volume of content tempts students to treat it as a memory subject through Year 12 and discover in Year 13 that data-based questions on unfamiliar experiments carry the marks. Early practice at reading a graph and stating a limitation pays twice over.

Economics

HL and SL

The internal commentaries are built on published articles, so article selection in Year 12 determines how much syllabus the student can demonstrate. Diagram marks are explicit, and students who draw loosely lose them consistently.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Assessed across unseen analysis, a comparative essay and an oral on a global issue. The oral needs a global issue and extracts chosen well before Year 13, and students who leave the choice late end up defending a thin pairing.

Theory of Knowledge

Core, all candidates

An exhibition and a prescribed-title essay, contributing core points with the Extended Essay. It runs across both years with its own deadlines and is the component students most often treat as paperwork until the points are counted.

The Extended Essay

Core, all candidates

Subject chosen and research question set in Year 12. Most of the recoverable marks are decided by that question: too broad and no argument is possible, too narrow and there is nothing to investigate. Supervision checkpoints are school deadlines, not IB ones.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover nearly every Diploma request from this community, all tied to the two-year calendar. Every session runs live over video; none involves a tutor travelling to a UAE address.

Year 12 decision and design block

A short block early in Year 12 aimed at the decisions rather than the content: level and route choices checked against intended degrees, the Extended Essay question interrogated, internal assessment designs tested for whether they can reach the top criteria. The cheapest hours in the programme and the ones families almost never buy.

  • Levels and mathematics route checked against actual entry requirements
  • Extended Essay question narrowed until it can be argued
  • Each internal assessment design tested against its criteria
  • Load assessed honestly while a change is still possible

Weekly subject session through Year 13

One named subject at one named level, weekly, through the final year. The component worked on is chosen by published weighting and current mark rather than by preference, and every practice answer is marked against published expectations in the session.

  • Component selected by weighting, not by feel
  • Command-term discipline worked every session
  • Marks from timed work tracked across the year
  • Reviewed every four weeks against remaining time

Final-term paper intensive

Two or three sessions a week in the last stretch, confined to the subjects furthest from target. Full papers to time, losses categorised, no new content unless a named gap demands it. Deliberately narrow, because breadth at that distance returns least.

  • Subjects chosen on distance from target grade
  • Papers sat to time, then analysed rather than redone
  • Losses split into content, technique, misread and clock
  • Long sessions scheduled at weekends for Paper 3 work

The home-tutoring question, answered properly

In-home tutoring in Dubai is a real market and the published figures are specific. Bestimate's rate work puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500, with travel included in both. Comparable qualified subject tutors working online are published at AED 150 to 300, and specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase listing around AED 270 and Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Monthly packages circulating in the market run roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions against about AED 799 for eight online sessions.

What the in-home premium buys is worth stating without irony. A person in the room changes the behaviour of some students entirely. A parent can overhear. A younger student who will not settle at a screen settles at a table. For a household where the real problem is that no work happens unsupervised, those are not luxuries and the premium may be the best money spent.

What it also buys, in Al Khail Gate specifically, is a drive. The community sits beside the Al Khail Road interchange, which is among the busier corridors in the city in the late afternoon. A tutor travelling here between four and seven is paid for time in traffic, can usually offer one window per evening, and loses the session rather than moving it when a school bus runs late. Across a Diploma year, a lost session a fortnight at specialist rates is a significant sum spent on nothing.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and no tutor will arrive at an address in Al Khail Gate or anywhere else in the Emirates. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one and delivered live over video on Gulf Standard Time. A family that wants in-home delivery should buy it from somebody who sells it, with the published rates above as the benchmark, and this page is written so that choice is made with the numbers in hand.

Year 12, term by term: the decisions that set the ceiling

Term one of Year 12 is the most consequential and the least used. Subject and level choices are either confirmed or adjusted in these weeks, and after them the school timetable hardens. A student who has taken three demanding Higher Level subjects plus an Extended Essay in one of them, and who is already struggling in week six, has a window of perhaps a month in which a change is administratively simple. Raising it then is cheap; raising it in Year 13 is usually impossible.

The mathematics route is the sharpest of those decisions because several engineering, physics, mathematics and economics degrees specify Analysis and Approaches, sometimes at Higher Level. A student who chose Applications for comfort may find a course closed in Year 13 with no route back. Reading the actual entry requirements of a handful of plausible universities takes an evening and should happen in term one, not during the application.

The middle of Year 12 is design work. The Extended Essay subject and research question are set, and most of that essay's available marks are decided by the question: too broad and no argument can be sustained, too narrow and there is nothing to investigate. Internal assessment topics are chosen in several subjects, and in each the design determines whether the top criteria are reachable at all. A chemistry investigation whose method cannot produce usable data cannot be analysed well however good the write-up.

The final stretch of Year 12 is where internal assessment drafting should begin in earnest, in parallel with ordinary teaching. Students who leave all of it to Year 13 end up writing three or four substantial pieces of coursework in the same winter as mocks, which is the single most common reason a Diploma student's grades slip in the final year. Nothing about that is unavoidable; it is a scheduling failure with a known date.

03

Year 13 counted backwards from the May session

UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session. We do not publish specific IB examination or results dates on these pages, because the IB's own website blocks automated checking and no IB date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. A date a family plans around has to be right, so confirm the window and the results dates with the school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org, and treat any third-party calendar as a prompt to check rather than a source.

What can be planned without those dates is the sequence, because the sequence is set by the school. Internal assessment submission deadlines come first, generally spread across the autumn and winter of Year 13. Theory of Knowledge has its own exhibition and essay deadlines. The Extended Essay has a final submission date with supervision checkpoints before it. Mocks sit in the winter. Then the paper phase, then the session.

The useful discipline is to write those dates on one page in September of Year 13 and plan hours around them rather than around how a student feels in a given week. A student with two internal assessments due within a fortnight of the mock series has a problem that is visible in September and invisible in November, and moving one of those drafts forward by three weeks is a conversation the school will usually have if it happens early.

The paper phase itself is the part most families already understand, and it is the shortest. Full papers to time, losses categorised into content, technique, misreading and clock, and work directed at whichever category dominates. New content goes in only where a named gap exists. For Higher Level students the extended problem-solving papers need long uninterrupted blocks, which in this community usually means a weekend morning rather than another weekday evening after the Al Khail Road run.

04

Internal deadlines beat examination dates, and nobody tells parents that

  • Ask the Diploma coordinator for a consolidated internal deadline list
  • Mark the fortnights where two or more deadlines collide
  • Move a draft forward by agreement rather than missing it
  • Place tutoring hours at the collisions, not evenly across the year

Parents arrive at Diploma tutoring asking about examinations because examinations are the visible event. The deadlines that actually govern the two years belong to the school, are published in its own calendar, and are the ones a student can miss without anybody outside the building noticing until a grade arrives. An internal assessment submitted late, or submitted as a first draft because time ran out, caps a subject grade as firmly as a weak paper does.

There is a structural reason this is under-discussed. Schools publish these dates to students, often through a portal or a planner rather than directly to parents, and the dates are subject-specific rather than consolidated. A family would have to collect six subject calendars plus the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge schedules to see the whole picture, and almost nobody does. The students who cope best are the ones whose households did exactly that in September.

The practical request is simple and schools answer it willingly: ask the Diploma coordinator for a consolidated list of internal deadlines for the year. With that one document, the heavy fortnights are visible months ahead, and support can be placed where the collisions are rather than spread evenly across a year that is not evenly loaded.

This is also the strongest argument for starting support in Year 12 rather than Year 13. In Year 12 the deadlines are about design decisions that are cheap to influence and expensive to leave. In Year 13 they are about completion under pressure. The same number of hours does more in the first case, and the families who report that Diploma tutoring was worth it are overwhelmingly the ones who bought it early.

05

Academic honesty across two years of work written at home

The Diploma is unusual in how much of its assessed work is produced outside a supervised hall. Internal assessments in every subject, the Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition: all written at home, over months, with feedback permitted within defined limits. That makes the honesty boundary a practical daily question rather than an abstract principle, and it is the reason a family should establish where a tutor stands before any work begins.

The working rule is that the student produces the work and the tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on it. In practice a tutor can explain a published criterion, ask what evidence supports a claim, point out that a methodology is uncontrolled, show a worked example of a comparable problem, and mark a draft against the criteria. A tutor cannot write any part of it, cannot edit it to completion, cannot do the mathematics or the analysis for it, and cannot supply a model to be submitted.

This matters commercially as well as ethically because the Gulf market is not clean on this point. Operations advertising completed Internal Assessments for sale exist in these search results, at fixed prices. For an IB student, submitting bought work is a malpractice matter with consequences that follow the student rather than the seller, and a family is entitled to ask any provider directly what it will and will not produce. An evasive answer is itself an answer.

The adjacent boundary is copyright on board materials. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the IB, Cambridge and Pearson. A tutor should link them at their official source rather than distributing copies, and a provider advertising a downloadable library of board material is describing its standards more accurately than its marketing does.

06

Ramadan, the UAE subjects and the summer between the two years

Three features of the UAE calendar shape a Diploma plan and are missing from any schedule imported from elsewhere. The first is that Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of the licensed international curriculum, under KHDA requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Those are real timetable hours on top of six Diploma subjects and the core.

KHDA also sets how they run: separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes for the two groups strictly prohibited, Standard Arabic as the language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arab students and for Arabic as a first language, and instructional time calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit. A Diploma week in Dubai is therefore fuller than the programme outline suggests, and plans that assume otherwise overcommit the student.

The second is Ramadan, which compresses the school day and moves the household evening. In this community that usually means sessions shift to after Iftar or to weekend mornings for the month. Because delivery is online, that is a calendar change rather than a renegotiation. What should be decided in advance is which work pauses: paper practice can continue in shorter form, while internal assessment drafting almost always stalls unless a checkpoint was deliberately placed before the month.

The third is the summer between Year 12 and Year 13, which is the single most valuable and most wasted stretch in the Diploma. It is the only period with genuinely free time and no competing deadlines, and it is the natural moment to finish internal assessment drafts. A student who arrives in Year 13 with two drafts substantially complete has a materially different year from one who arrives with none, and the difference was made in weeks when nothing else was happening.

What the Al Khail Gate commute does to a weekday session

Al Khail Gate has no IB Diploma school on its doorstep, so every Diploma student here commutes, and they commute in different directions. Some travel to the Motor City and Dubai Sports City cluster, which is close in distance and can be slow at the Al Khail Road interchange. Others travel towards Al Barsha South or Dubai Hills, and others south towards Nad Al Sheba. That variety means arrival times differ household by household rather than by community, which is unusual and worth asking about rather than assuming.

The practical range is wide. A student at a school in the Motor City cluster can be home soon after the bell and able to work by late afternoon. A student travelling towards Nad Al Sheba or Al Barsha South in term-time traffic may not be settled until well after five. Add an after-school activity or a CAS commitment and the realistic window closes further. Setting a session time from the timetable rather than from the actual arrival time is how a weekly slot quietly becomes a weekly rearrangement.

This is also why long sessions have to be weekend sessions. Higher Level extended problem-solving papers and full timed papers need an uninterrupted block that a weekday evening in this community cannot reliably provide. A Saturday or Sunday morning, sat properly to time, is worth more than two interrupted weekday hours, and it is the only way most Diploma students in the belt actually sit complete papers under conditions.

None of this argues for or against any format on its own. It argues for building the plan from the real arrival time and the real weekend availability, which is a two-minute conversation at the start and the difference between a plan that runs for a year and one that is renegotiated monthly.

What IB Gram claims, and what it does not

Stated plainly: IB Gram holds no permit, licence, accreditation or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and has no office, centre or branch in the UAE. The phrase approved is used loosely in this market, and several competitor pages make claims their own permit position does not support. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific thing issued to training institutes with premises; we do not hold one and do not imply it.

On the regulatory position for individual tutors, the facts are public and worth knowing. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Individuals tutoring without it are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so any figure quoted is unverified.

What we do claim is narrow and checkable. Tutors teach a named subject at a named level, mark work against published expectations in the session, and send a short note afterwards naming the component, the marks and the next target. There is a free trial lesson before any payment is taken, and it functions as a diagnosis: if the honest conclusion is that tutoring is not the bottleneck, that is what gets said.

We publish no statistics about our own outcomes, no star ratings and no student counts, because we cannot produce the underlying data and a figure without its sample, date and method is decoration. Every AED band on this page is a market rate published by a named provider or rate study, cited as such, and every regulatory statement is drawn from the authority's own published material.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Khail Gate

Al Khail Gate sits beside the Al Khail Road corridor in the Dubailand belt, and Diploma students here commute to IB schools in several directions. These notes describe what the journey does to the week.

Al Khail Gate

A dense apartment community close to Al Quoz and the Al Khail Road interchange, with no IB school on its doorstep. Students commute in several directions, which means arrival times vary household by household rather than by district.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

The nearest established school cluster, reachable in minutes outside peak hours and considerably longer inside them. Students here can usually manage a late-afternoon session; students travelling further cannot.

Dubai Hills Estate

Newer provision with a shorter journey than Al Barsha South, which makes it a common destination for families moving within the belt. Traffic on the Al Khail corridor is the deciding factor rather than distance.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 2

Established British-curriculum provision nearby, with IB available further out. Students bussed in this direction tend to be home earlier than those travelling towards Al Barsha or Nad Al Sheba.

DAMAC Hills and Town Square

Further along the Dubailand belt with newer schools and longer journeys. Evening sessions after six are the norm here, and a weekend block is often the only way a full timed paper gets sat.

Mudon and Remraam

Southern end of the belt, the longest school runs in the cluster. Families here generally anchor the week to weekend sessions and treat weekday evenings as uncertain during term.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Ask the school for the consolidated deadline list

One document listing every internal assessment deadline, the Extended Essay checkpoints and the Theory of Knowledge dates for the year. Diploma coordinators provide it willingly when asked directly, and it makes the heavy fortnights visible months in advance.

  2. 02

Send the subject inventory with the dates

Six subjects with levels, current grades, the state of each internal assessment and the Extended Essay question. Combined with the deadline list, that is enough to build a two-year plan rather than react to whichever subject looks worst this month.

  3. 03

    Free trial as a diagnosis

The trial works one real component live, marked against published expectations, and ends with the tutor naming whether the loss is content, command term, method or clock, and where in the calendar the hours should go. No payment is taken before it.

  4. 04

Buy the Year 12 design hours, not only Year 13

Levels and route checked against actual degree requirements, the Extended Essay question narrowed, each internal assessment design tested against its criteria. These are the cheapest hours in the programme and the ones most families skip entirely.

  5. 05

Place the rest at the collisions

Hours go where two deadlines meet or where a mock sits beside a submission, not spread evenly across a year that is not evenly loaded. Long sessions for full papers are booked at weekends, because weekday evenings in this community cannot reliably provide an uninterrupted block.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Planned across two years, not bought after a mock

The decisions that set a Diploma score, levels, mathematics route, Extended Essay question, internal assessment design, are Year 12 decisions. Support bought in Year 13 can only work on what is left, which is the smallest and most expensive variable.

The in-home premium shown, not dismissed

Published Dubai figures put in-home at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included against AED 150 to 300 online, and monthly packages at roughly double for the same eight contact hours. We put the comparison on the page so the choice is informed.

Internal deadlines treated as the real calendar

Examinations are the visible event; school deadlines govern the two years and are the ones a student can miss unnoticed. We ask for the consolidated list first and plan hours around the collisions it reveals.

No IB dates published here

The IB's own site cannot be checked automatically, so no session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB. We say so and point to the school's coordinator rather than publishing a date a family might act on.

The honesty boundary stated in advance

We teach, question and give feedback on the student's own work. We do not write, complete, edit to completion or supply models for internal assessment, the Extended Essay or any coursework, and we say so before any work begins.

Online only in the UAE

All UAE lessons run live over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India. There is no UAE office and no claim of regulator approval anywhere.

Student and parent reviews

What students and parents say about working with IB Gram

Practical feedback on tutor fit, revision structure and communication from IB and IGCSE families we have taught.

“Every session has been a positive learning experience. The students are progressing well, becoming more confident, and showing a genuine interest in learning.”

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Khail Gate: your questions answered

Is it too late to start IB tutoring if my child is already in Year 13?+

Not too late to be useful, but you are buying the last and smallest variable. By Year 13 the subject levels are fixed, the Extended Essay question is set and most internal assessment design decisions have been made. What remains is paper technique, command-term discipline, timing and the completion of coursework already in flight, all of which respond to work. What cannot be recovered is a level choice or a research question that was wrong, which is why the same budget spent in Year 12 does considerably more.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to apartments in Al Khail Gate?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and no tutor will arrive at an address in Al Khail Gate or anywhere else in the Emirates. All UAE lessons are one-to-one and delivered live over video on Gulf Standard Time. If in-home delivery is what your household needs, the published Dubai market band is AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, and that is the benchmark to hold a provider to.

What does in-home Diploma tutoring actually cost compared with online?+

Roughly double for the same contact hours on published figures. Monthly packages circulating in the market run around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, which is eight contact hours, against about AED 799 for eight one-hour online sessions, also eight. Hourly, Bestimate puts in-home at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500 with travel included, against AED 150 to 300 online and AED 200 to 450 for specialists. The gap is mostly the journey.

Which Year 12 decisions matter most for a Diploma score?+

Four. The six subjects and which three are at Higher Level, because the timetable hardens after term one. The mathematics route, because several engineering, physics, mathematics and economics degrees specify Analysis and Approaches. The Extended Essay research question, because most of that essay's marks are decided by whether the question can be argued at all. And each internal assessment design, because a method that cannot produce usable data caps the analysis criteria before any writing happens.

How do I find out my child's internal assessment deadlines?+

Ask the Diploma coordinator for a consolidated list for the year. Schools publish these dates, but subject by subject and usually to students rather than parents, so a family would otherwise have to assemble six subject calendars plus the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge schedules. With the list in one place, the fortnights where two deadlines collide or a submission sits beside a mock become visible months ahead, and a draft can be moved forward by agreement rather than missed.

Can you tell me the exact dates of my daughter's IB papers and results?+

UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session, and we deliberately do not publish specific examination or results dates on these pages. The IB's own website blocks automated checking, so no IB date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and a date a family plans around has to be correct. Confirm the window and the results date with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org. For Cambridge qualifications sat alongside, UAE centres sit the June and November series.

Should my son use the summer between Year 12 and Year 13 for tutoring?+

For internal assessment drafting, yes, and it is the most under-used stretch in the Diploma. It is the only period with free time and no competing deadlines, which makes it the natural moment to get two or three drafts substantially complete. A student arriving in Year 13 with drafts in hand has a materially easier winter than one arriving with none, because coursework then collides with mocks. Using the entire summer is counterproductive; the final few weeks are usually enough.

How many Diploma subjects is it worth paying for at once?+

One weekly, with short blocks elsewhere, for most families. Three Higher Level subjects plus Extended Essay coaching is three or four recurring commitments that very few households sustain for two years. The shape that works is a single weekly specialist session on the subject furthest from target, a Year 12 design block covering the decisions across all six subjects, and a final-term intensive on two subjects. Spread thinly across six, the same budget produces nothing measurable in any of them.

What exactly may a tutor do with an internal assessment?+

Teach the underlying subject, question whether the design can reach the top criteria, explain each published criterion, ask what evidence supports a claim, and give feedback on drafts the student has written. What a tutor must not do is write any part of it, do the mathematics or analysis for it, edit it to completion, or supply a model for submission. Operations selling completed Internal Assessments exist in this market at fixed prices, and the malpractice consequence lands on the student rather than the seller.

Why do Diploma grades often slip in the winter of Year 13?+

Because coursework and mocks arrive together. Students who leave internal assessment drafting to Year 13 end up writing three or four substantial pieces in the same weeks as mock examinations, and something gives. It is not an unavoidable feature of the programme; it is a scheduling outcome with a known cause and a known date. Drafting in the final term of Year 12 and over the summer removes most of it, which is why the deadline list collected in September is worth more than an extra session in February.

Do the UAE mandatory subjects affect a Diploma student's week?+

Yes. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with requirements implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year and instructional time calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit. Schools must also run separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in several of those subjects, which creates fixed timetable blocks. A Dubai Diploma week is therefore fuller than six subjects plus the core implies, and tutoring plans should assume fewer free evenings.

What time can a session start for a student living in Al Khail Gate?+

It depends on the direction of the commute rather than the community, which is unusual. Students at schools in the Motor City and Dubai Sports City cluster can often work by late afternoon. Students travelling towards Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills or Nad Al Sheba in term-time traffic on the Al Khail corridor may not be settled until after five, and a CAS commitment pushes it later. Long sessions for full timed papers realistically have to be weekend mornings.

Can the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay points be worth chasing?+

Yes, and they are frequently the cheapest points available. The two combine on a published matrix to award up to three additional points on top of the forty-two from six subjects, and both are written over months with supervision rather than sat under a clock. Three points changes many university offers. A student treating the core as paperwork while grinding at a subject grade is usually working harder for less, and the fix is to set the Theory of Knowledge essay title and the Extended Essay question early.

Does any tutoring provider hold KHDA approval for IB work?+

A KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, requiring initial approval, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is the only thing the phrase could properly refer to. IB Gram holds no such permit and claims no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. If a provider uses the phrase, ask for the permit number.

What happens if the specialist we need is not available at our time?+

We say so rather than substituting a generalist. A particular Diploma subject at a particular level at a particular hour does occasionally come up empty, especially in the weeks before the session when demand peaks across the city. The options are a different time, a different tutor with a handover of the student's component plan, or a wait with a date attached. A mismatched tutor in a Diploma subject costs a term, and in Year 13 a term is not available.

Buy the calendar hours, not the panic hours

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in Al Khail Gate, the most useful thing to do first costs nothing: ask the school's Diploma coordinator for a consolidated list of internal assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge deadlines for the year, and write them on one page with your child's six subjects and levels beside them. That document shows where the collisions are and therefore where hours belong. The trial lesson works one real component live and names whether the problem is content, command term, method or timing, and no payment is taken before it. All UAE lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; we do not offer home visits in the UAE.
