Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 Tutor in Dubai

Most pages selling a Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 tutor in Dubai will not tell you a price. Three of the six most visible competitors in this market publish no figure at all, and two quote in US dollars. This page starts with the AED numbers, names the source and date of every one of them, explains the six things that move a Dubai quote up or down, and then says which 0620 marks give the most back for each hour you pay for.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price question, answered before anything else

A Dubai parent looking for chemistry help wants two numbers: what an hour costs and how many hours this will take. The market is unusually bad at supplying either. Of the most visible providers ranking for these searches, three publish no price whatsoever, one asks the price in its own list of questions and then declines to answer it, and two quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays school fees in. So here is the range in dirhams, with sources: a university student or recent graduate online runs roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, a qualified subject teacher online AED 150 to 300, an independent tutor visiting a Dubai home AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the number, an IGCSE or A Level subject specialist AED 200 to 450 and upwards, and named premium tutors above AED 500. Every one of those bands is attributed in the tables further down.

The second number is harder and more honest to break into parts. A Year 10 student consolidating as the school teaches needs a different quantity of hours from a Year 11 student eight weeks from a series with stoichiometry unsecured. A single topic repair in chemistry can genuinely be four sessions. A two-year programme of weekly support is around seventy. Anyone quoting you a total without first seeing a marked paper is guessing, and the guess will be generous in the direction of their invoice.

What makes chemistry particular, and worth paying attention to on cost, is that its difficulty is concentrated rather than spread. Twelve topic areas sit in the 0620 syllabus, and one of them, stoichiometry, is load-bearing for at least six of the others. A student who cannot move confidently between moles, mass, concentration and volume will lose marks in acids and bases, in electrochemistry, in energetics, in the Periodic Table questions and in the practical paper, and will appear to have a general chemistry problem. Fixing that one area is usually four to six sessions and lifts marks across half the syllabus. Reteaching twelve topics is a term and a half. The difference between those two purchases is several thousand dirhams, and it is decided by whether anyone looked at the script first.

Delivery and the honest limits, stated plainly. Chemistry lessons for Dubai students run live online, one to one, over video, with a shared screen for equations, mechanisms and graph work. IB Gram does not place tutors in homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run only in India. The cost consequence of that is straightforward and in your favour: you are not paying for a drive across the city inside an hourly rate, and the tutor you get is chosen for knowing the 0620 mark scheme rather than for living near your community.

The rest of the page is the detail: the market rate tables with sources, the six factors that move a Dubai quote, what a month and a term actually cost, how tutoring sits beside Dubai school fees after the 2026-27 freeze, which 0620 marks are cheapest to recover, what the hidden extras are, and the cases where we would tell you not to spend the money.

Four routes a Dubai chemistry student may be on, described here by what each one costs a family in hours as well as in content. Where a programme carries internally assessed work, the tutoring brief narrows and the boundaries tighten, which changes the price of help as well as its shape.

0620Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry

Twelve topic areas examined across three components with no coursework. Core candidates sit the Core multiple-choice and theory papers and are capped at grade C; Extended candidates sit the Extended versions and can reach A*. A practical component, either the laboratory test or the written alternative, carries a fifth of the grade in both tiers.

The most commonly tutored science in Dubai after mathematics, and the one where requests cluster most tightly on a single topic. Stoichiometry and the mole are named in the majority of first enquiries we receive from Dubai families, which is why a four to six session topic repair is the most frequently bought chemistry package in this city.

0654Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences

A double award covering all three sciences in two IGCSEs, with the chemistry content reduced from the separate syllabus. Students sit combined papers, which means the chemistry sections appear interleaved with biology and physics and require recall switching the separate papers do not test.

Often the cheaper route in tutoring terms simply because there is less content to support, but the saving is not automatic. Past papers from the separate 0620 syllabus contain material a 0654 candidate will not be examined on, so a tutor who does not check the code can bill hours teaching content that will never be assessed.

AS/AAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS & A Level Chemistry

The post-16 continuation most Dubai British schools offer. AS Chemistry assumes mole calculations as reflex rather than as content, and adds organic mechanisms with curly arrows, equilibrium treated quantitatively and a formal practical skills assessment. Students who reached a high 0620 grade by memorising worked examples meet the wall in the first term.

Entry commonly sits at grade A or B at Extended 0620 in Dubai schools, and the subject is a prerequisite for medicine and most engineering routes. That makes a 0620 grade more expensive to get wrong than most: a missed threshold can mean a year's resit or a changed degree plan.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme Chemistry

Standard or Higher Level, with an internally assessed investigation that the student designs, performs and writes up, marked at school and moderated by the IB. The written papers weight data analysis and experimental reasoning more heavily than 0620 does, and the internal assessment introduces a strict academic-honesty boundary.

A large share of Dubai's international schools run the Diploma, and the internal assessment is where parents most often ask what help is allowed. The answer is narrow and it does not change with price: a tutor may teach method, discuss a plan and give feedback on the student's own draft, and may never write, complete or redraft it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The Cambridge codes Dubai families most often buy support in alongside Chemistry 0620, with what each one assesses and a note on how heavily it is tutored in this city. Demand drives availability, and availability drives price.

Chemistry (0620)

Core and Extended

Twelve topic areas from states of matter to organic chemistry. Assesses calculation, pattern reasoning and precise description. Stoichiometry is load-bearing for six other topics, which is why it is the single most requested chemistry repair in Dubai and the one with the best return on hours paid.

Biology (0610)

Core and Extended

Twenty-one topic areas and the heaviest recall load of the sciences. Assesses definitional precision over calculation. Tutored heavily in Dubai at Year 11 rather than Year 10, because its problems surface late, when the volume of recall finally outruns a student's revision method.

Physics (0625)

Core and Extended

Six topic areas assessed through calculation, graph work and experimental reasoning. Shares the practical paper's skills with chemistry almost exactly. Specialist availability is tighter than in chemistry or biology, which is the one place in the sciences where scarcity visibly moves the rate.

Co-ordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

All three sciences to reduced depth in combined papers. Assesses the same core chemistry relationships with fewer multi-step calculations. Cheaper to support per grade point, provided the tutor filters past papers to the double-award content rather than working from separate-science papers.

Mathematics (0580)

Core and Extended

Assesses number, algebra, geometry and statistics. Ratio, proportion and rearrangement are examined again inside every chemistry calculation without being labelled as maths. The most common hidden cause of a chemistry grade that will not move, and often cheaper to fix than the chemistry itself.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only

Functions, calculus and trigonometry above 0580 level. Taken by stronger Dubai sets, and a reliable signal that a chemistry problem is conceptual rather than numerical. Students holding both need session planning around whichever subject has the heavier assessment week.

First Language English (0500)

Core and Extended

Assesses reading, writing and response to text. The command-term discipline it builds is the same discipline chemistry mark schemes demand: describe, explain, suggest, state and compare are not interchangeable, and in chemistry that distinction is worth marks on every paper.

Economics (0455)

Core and Extended

Assesses data response, diagram work and extended written reasoning. Frequently paired with chemistry by Dubai students keeping both science and commerce routes open, which produces the heaviest Year 11 workloads and the tightest session scheduling.

Information and Communication Technology (0417)

Core and Extended

Assesses practical software skills and theory across coursework-style tasks and written papers. Its deadlines frequently land in chemistry revision season, which is worth mapping in September so a practical submission week does not eat the stoichiometry block.

Arabic as a First Language (0508)

First language

Assessed in Arabic, and for Arab students in Dubai it sits alongside the international curriculum as a mandatory subject under KHDA's requirements. Its timetable position and separate class organisation affect when science support can realistically be scheduled.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy 0620 support, differing mainly in total cost rather than in hourly rate. All run live online, one to one, over video with a shared screen for equations and mechanisms.

Single-topic repair block

Four to six sessions on one area, almost always stoichiometry, acids and bases, or electrochemistry. The cheapest useful purchase in this subject and the one with the clearest return, because a secured mole calculation pays marks back across six other topics in the syllabus.

  • Four to six sessions, with a defined end
  • Past-paper questions filtered to that topic alone
  • Marked before and after, so the gain is visible
  • No commitment to a term attached

Weekly support across the year

One session a week following the school's teaching sequence from Year 10 into Year 11. The highest total spend and, per grade point, usually the lowest, because problems are caught as they appear rather than excavated in April under time pressure.

  • Fixed weekly hour across the academic year
  • Tracks the school scheme of work rather than a generic order
  • Marked question sets each fortnight
  • Pattern intensifies before mocks rather than being renegotiated

Pre-series intensive

Two or three sessions a week across the six to eight weeks before a June or November series. The most expensive per month and sometimes the only option available. Content teaching largely stops; the work is timed papers, mark-scheme comparison and the practical component.

  • Six to eight weeks, two or three sessions weekly
  • Full Extended theory paper under timing each fortnight
  • Dedicated block on the practical component
  • Booked early, because this window is when availability tightens

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What a cambridge IGCSE chemistry 0620 tutor in Dubai costs, with sources

The direct answer: AED 45 to 150 an hour at the budget end, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject teacher online, AED 180 to 500 for an independent tutor visiting a Dubai home with travel inside the figure, AED 200 to 450 and above for an IGCSE or A Level specialist, and AED 500 to 650 and above for named premium tutors. Those are market rates as published by the providers themselves and by Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table, read in October 2026. They are not an IB Gram price list, and nothing on this page should be read as a quote.

The spread is wide because the bands are different products rather than different qualities of the same product. At the bottom you are usually buying a university student or a recent graduate working from the textbook, which can be entirely adequate for a Year 9 student consolidating general science and is rarely enough for an Extended Paper 4 under timing. In the middle you are buying a trained teacher who knows the subject properly. In the specialist band you are buying somebody who can tell you which specific wording in your child's answer earned the mark and which did not, which is a different skill from knowing chemistry. At the top you are buying a named individual, and that is also the band where claims about examiner status need the most checking, because current examiner status is rarely evidenced and is often implied.

One structural point about this market deserves saying. The competitor pages ranking for these searches are not hiding prices out of modesty; a published number invites comparison, and a page with no number cannot be undercut. The cost of that reticence falls on you, because without a band you cannot recognise an outlier when you are quoted one. If a Dubai provider quotes AED 600 an hour for IGCSE chemistry, the table below tells you that is premium-band pricing and the question to ask is what justifies it. If a provider quotes AED 60, the same table tells you what that usually buys.

Six things that move a Dubai chemistry quote

A single hourly number hides most of what you are actually deciding. Six variables move a quote in this emirate, and only two of them are about the tutor. Knowing which ones you control is the difference between negotiating and being quoted at.

Tier is the first. Extended Paper 4 work requires someone fluent in multi-step calculation and mark-scheme wording, and that is a narrower pool than Core support, which prices accordingly. Proximity to a series is the second, and it is the one families underestimate: in the eight weeks before June, every centre's candidates want the same evenings, and scarcity in that window is real rather than manufactured. Specialism scarcity is the third. Chemistry sits in the middle of the sciences on availability, easier than physics and tighter than biology.

The three you control are session length, frequency and timing in the year. Ninety minutes usually costs less per minute than sixty and delivers more than sixty for calculation-heavy topics, because moles work needs a run-up. Frequency compounds: two sessions a week in the final stretch costs more per month and less in total than three months of weekly sessions started too late. And timing is the largest lever of all. Support bought in Year 10, while the school is teaching the topic, costs a fraction of the same marks recovered in Year 11 under deadline. Nothing else on this list saves as much money as starting earlier, and nothing else is as completely within a family's control in September.

Monthly and termly: what a chemistry plan actually costs

Hourly rates are the wrong unit for a decision. Families budget monthly, and the useful question is what a month of this looks like against what a term of it looks like. Published monthly figures exist in this market, which is more than can be said for most of its hourly ones. Monthly packages seen in Dubai include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for in-home arrangements built around four two-hour visits. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support.

Those figures put the real decisions in view. A single-topic repair block of five sessions at specialist rates is a one-off cost in the region of a month's mid-band support, and it is the purchase most Dubai chemistry enquiries should actually be making. A full Year 11 of weekly specialist support is a multiple of that, and for a student targeting an A or A* for a medicine or engineering route it is a different calculation entirely, because the alternative cost is a resit year.

The comparison nobody puts in writing is between starting early and rescuing late. A Year 10 student supported fortnightly through the year accumulates more hours at a lower monthly figure, in the window when the school is teaching the content and a session only has to consolidate. The same student rescued in the April of Year 11 needs two or three sessions a week at peak-season rates, and is paying specialist prices to do work that would have been cheap in October. The cheapest chemistry plan in Dubai is almost always the one that started before anyone was worried.

Tutoring cost in context: Dubai fees and the 2026-27 freeze

A tutoring budget is set against a school fee, and in Dubai that number has just stopped moving. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there will be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under the second of Dubai's economic incentives packages valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family that set a tutoring budget last year on the assumption of a fee rise this year, that is real headroom, and it is the single most useful piece of financial context on this page.

The scale of the market around you explains the rest of the pricing. Dubai's private school sector served 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum accounting for the largest share of enrolment at thirty-seven per cent, Indian curricula next, then American, with the International Baccalaureate taking a smaller slice. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four following a UK curriculum and three offering the International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment grew by six per cent.

Those two facts together explain why IGCSE chemistry tutoring prices in Dubai behave the way they do. A growing UK-curriculum population means more 0620 candidates every year chasing a specialist pool that does not grow at the same rate, which is why the squeeze in the eight weeks before a series gets tighter rather than easier. Frozen fees mean the household budget that absorbs tutoring is more stable than it has been. The practical conclusion for a family planning a Year 11: book the specialist in the autumn term at the ordinary rate rather than in the spring at the scarcity rate.

Which 0620 marks are cheapest to recover

  • Stoichiometry first: it is load-bearing for at least six other topics
  • Equation and ionic-equation writing is mechanical and drills quickly
  • The practical component is a fifth of the grade with the most predictable scheme
  • Command terms are two sessions and pay back on every paper
  • Organic and electrochemistry rebuilds are weeks, and priced accordingly

If you are spending by the hour, the question that matters is which hours return the most marks. Chemistry has an unusually clear answer, because its difficulty is concentrated rather than evenly spread across the twelve topic areas. Stoichiometry is the centre of gravity. Moles, mass, concentration, volume and the balanced equation are not one topic among twelve; they are the machinery that acids and bases, electrochemistry, energetics, metals and the analysis questions all run on. A student who is insecure there looks generally weak in chemistry and is actually weak in one place.

After stoichiometry, three areas return marks fast. The first is equation writing and balancing, including ionic equations, which is mechanical and drillable. The second is the practical component, which carries a fifth of the grade with the most predictable mark scheme in the syllabus: tabulating with consistent precision, plotting, identifying a specific source of imprecision, proposing a change to the method rather than an exhortation to be careful. The third is command-term discipline, where state wants a fact without reasoning, describe wants the observation, explain wants the cause in particle terms, and suggest invites applied reasoning. Those three are a handful of sessions each and they transfer to every paper afterwards.

The expensive marks are the ones that need understanding rebuilt: organic chemistry for a student who never secured bonding, or electrochemistry for one who cannot track electrons. Those are weeks, not sessions, and a provider promising them quickly is selling a timeline rather than a method. The ordering follows from the arithmetic: buy the cheap transferable marks first, then decide whether the expensive ones are worth the remaining budget. Grade outcomes are never promised here, and nobody in this market can honestly promise one.

06

The extras that change the figure you were quoted

  • Ask whether marking and past-paper sets are inside the hourly figure
  • Check the cancellation window against a Dubai school year's real disruptions
  • Ask in writing whether the quoted figure includes any applicable tax
  • Check for a minimum session commitment before comparing hourly rates
  • Any free trial should state its conditions on the same screen

An hourly rate is not a total, and the gap between the two is where most Dubai families get a surprise. Six things routinely sit outside the quoted number, and all six are answerable in one message before you pay anything.

Materials are the first. Ask whether past papers, worked sets and marking are included or billed. Marking in particular is where value sits in a chemistry package: a session is an hour, but a marked Extended paper with mark-scheme wording quoted back takes a tutor longer than the lesson did, and providers differ on whether that is inside the rate. Cancellation terms are the second. In a Dubai school year interrupted by mock weeks, half terms, travel and Ramadan schedule changes, a policy requiring forty-eight hours' notice behaves very differently from one requiring a week.

The third is tax. Do not take any page's word on how UAE VAT applies to tuition, including this one; ask the provider directly whether the figure they quoted includes it, and ask for that in writing. The fourth is travel, which only arises for in-home arrangements and is usually inside the rate rather than added, which is precisely why those rates sit higher. The fifth is the minimum commitment: some providers quote an attractive hourly figure attached to a ten-session minimum, which is a different purchase from four sessions on stoichiometry. The sixth is the trial. Where a trial is offered free, the conditions should be visible on the same screen as the word free. Ours is one session, with no card details requested, and you keep the marked diagnostic work whether or not you continue.

07

How to spend less without buying less

  • Buy a diagnostic before buying a term, always
  • Ninety-minute sessions for calculation topics, sixty for recall topics
  • End a repair block when the named problem is fixed
  • Shared sessions only where tier, topic and week genuinely match
  • Match the price band to the job rather than to the anxiety

There are legitimate ways to reduce the total and there are ways that only look like savings. Worth doing: start earlier, buy a diagnostic before buying a term, choose ninety minutes over sixty for calculation topics, and let the plan end when the named problem is fixed rather than rolling forward by default. Each of those reduces hours rather than reducing quality.

Shared sessions are the saving most often proposed and the one that most often disappoints. Two students genuinely at the same point, same tier, same topic, same week, can work well together and the discussion between them adds something. Two students a year apart or on different tiers produce a session that is slightly wrong for both, and the chemistry case is worse than most because the mole work is sequential: one student waiting while the other catches up is paying to watch. Where two of your children need chemistry, two shorter separate sessions generally move more marks than one longer shared hour at a lower per-head rate.

The false economy worth naming is the band gap. Hiring budget-band support for Extended Paper 4 work in the final term is not cheaper, it is a different product bought for the wrong job, and the usual outcome is a term of hours followed by specialist hours anyway. The honest version of this advice runs the other way too: for a Year 9 student consolidating general science before the IGCSE option choice, the budget band may be entirely sufficient and the specialist band is simply money spent on precision nobody needs yet. Match the band to the job and the bill looks after itself.

08

When we would tell you not to spend the money

  • Supervision problems need an adult in the room, which we do not provide in the UAE
  • Timing problems are two to four sessions, not a term
  • A ratio and rearrangement problem is cheaper to fix as mathematics
  • Tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, admission or progression

A page about cost is incomplete without the cases where the answer is not to buy. There are four we see regularly in Dubai, and in each one a term of chemistry tutoring is money that will not produce marks.

The first is a supervision problem presented as a chemistry problem. A student who will not sit down to work for a parent will usually not sit down for a tutor on a screen either. For that case an adult physically present has a genuine advantage, and because IB Gram does not arrange home visits in Dubai, the honest answer is that we are the wrong purchase and we will say so on the call. The second is a timing problem: a student whose topic knowledge is sound and whose paper marks are poor needs timed practice and a triage rule, which is two to four sessions, not a term. Paying for a term in that situation buys content the student already has.

The third is a maths problem wearing a chemistry coat. If every lost mark traces back to ratio, rearrangement or standard form, the cheaper and faster intervention is mathematics, and the chemistry grade will move as a side effect. The fourth is the regulatory false alarm. Tutoring is not required for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, for university admission or for school progression, and any provider implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency. For the record, the British-track equivalency requirement is published: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. One competitor page states six IGCSE subjects are required. Verify the current rule on moe.gov.ae rather than taking either figure from a tutoring page.

Where we tutor

What Dubai families in each community typically spend

Delivery is online, so nothing here is about travel distance. These notes describe the plan families in each community most often choose, because budget patterns in Dubai cluster by neighbourhood almost as reliably as school choice does.

The Greens, The Views and Barsha Heights

Apartment communities with a high proportion of single-child households. The common pattern is one weekly session for a full academic year rather than an intensive block, which spreads the cost and is generally the cheaper route per grade point.

Jumeirah Lakes Towers

A mobile, lease-driven population where families often arrive mid-year. Short diagnostic blocks of four to six sessions are the usual first purchase here, frequently to establish how far behind a transferring student actually is before committing to a term.

Dubai Festival City and Al Garhoud

Established schools and long-settled families, with many siblings in the same year groups. Two-child bookings are common, and splitting into two shorter separate sessions rather than one shared hour is the arrangement that holds up in practice.

Al Khawaneej and Mushrif

Villa communities with large households and heavy weekend family commitments. Weekday evening slots dominate, and the plan most often chosen is fortnightly through Year 10 moving to weekly in Year 11 as mocks approach.

Town Square, Mudon and Dubai South

Newer, value-focused communities with young secondary intakes. Price sensitivity here is explicit, and the question we are asked most is which single topic gives the most marks back, which is exactly the right question to ask.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Higher-fee school catchments where chemistry support is often bought alongside an A Level or Diploma planning conversation. Specialist-band rates are more readily accepted here, and bookings tend to be made earlier in the year.

Damac Hills and Dubai Studio City

Mixed villa and apartment communities feeding schools across Motor City and Sports City. Sports-academy timetables push sessions into single long weekend slots, which suits topic teaching and costs less in total hours than twice-weekly patterns.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Mid-fee British and mixed-curriculum schools

Large year groups, wide ability spread and Core and Extended entries side by side. Chemistry enquiries from this group are most often single-topic repairs on stoichiometry or acids and bases, bought in short blocks rather than as a term.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which topic and which tier

Two facts get you an accurate answer instead of a range: the topic area that is not holding, and whether your child is entered for Core or Extended. If you are not sure of the tier, the head of science is. Both change the quote and the number of hours.

  2. 02

Send a marked paper, not a report

Photographs of the last marked chemistry paper are enough. They show whether the problem is one topic or six, which is the difference between a four-session block and a term. No honest estimate of total cost is possible without them.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial session

One session at no cost, with no card details requested, built around a short diagnostic set across the twelve topic areas. You keep the marked work whether or not you continue, and it tells you how many hours this actually needs.

  4. 04

Agree a block with an end date

Sessions are agreed as a defined block with a stated purpose rather than as an open arrangement that renews by habit. When the named problem is fixed, the block closes. Anything further is a new decision with its own reason.

  5. 05

    Reprice at each review point

Pattern and spend change across the year: fortnightly in Year 10, weekly through the autumn of Year 11, heavier only inside the final weeks. Each review asks whether the current frequency is still justified by the marked evidence.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The numbers are on the page

Every AED band here is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was read. Most pages in this market publish no figure at all, which leaves a parent unable to recognise an outlier when they are quoted one.

Diagnosis before a term is sold

A marked paper decides whether this is a four-session topic repair or a year of weekly support. Selling the larger package without looking is the standard commercial move in this market and the main reason families overpay for chemistry.

Market rates stated as market rates

The bands on this page are what other providers charge, not what we charge. Our own figures come with a trial session and a conversation about hours, because the right plan for a Year 10 and for a Year 11 eight weeks out are not the same product.

No drive inside the hourly rate

Lessons are live online over video; no tutor is placed in a Dubai home. An in-home rate carries an evening drive inside the number it quotes, and removing that is the clearest cost advantage of the online format rather than a marketing line.

We will name the cases where tutoring is not the answer

Supervision problems, timing problems and mathematics problems in disguise are all common and none of them is fixed by a term of chemistry lessons. Saying so on the first call costs us a booking and saves you a term's fees.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE Chemistry tutor cost per hour in Dubai in 2026?+

Published market rates, read in October 2026, run from AED 45 to 150 for a university student or recent graduate online, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject teacher online, AED 180 to 500 for a tutor visiting a Dubai home with travel inside the figure, AED 200 to 450 and above for an IGCSE or A Level specialist, and AED 500 to 650 and above for named premium tutors. Each band is attributed in the tables on this page. None of them is an IB Gram price; our own figure comes after a trial session and a conversation about how many hours the diagnosis actually indicates.

Why does a 0620 specialist cost more than a general science tutor?+

Because you are buying mark-scheme fluency rather than subject knowledge. A good general science tutor can teach the mole concept. A 0620 specialist can look at your child's Extended Paper 4 answer and say which phrase earned the mark, which one the examiner would not accept, and what the two-mark version of that answer looks like. That is a narrower skill, held by fewer people, and the pool tightens further in the eight weeks before a series when every Dubai centre's candidates want the same evenings.

Is a ninety-minute chemistry session better value than sixty minutes?+

For calculation topics, usually yes. Stoichiometry needs a run-up: recall the relationship, set up the ratio, work an example, then have the student produce one unaided while the tutor watches the working. Sixty minutes often ends in the middle of that cycle. Ninety also tends to cost less per minute than sixty at the same band. For recall-heavy topics the reverse holds, and two shorter sessions a week beat one long one because the spacing is what fixes recall. Match the length to the topic rather than booking one pattern for the year.

Does 0620 chemistry support cost more in the eight weeks before a June series?+

Effective prices do, and the mechanism is availability rather than a published increase. In the six to eight weeks before a June or November series, the specialist pool is fully booked at the hours families want, which are weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. What you actually face is not a higher advertised rate but a narrower choice: the specialist you wanted is unavailable and the alternatives sit in a different band. The fix is calendar rather than negotiation. Booking in the autumn term secures the slot at the ordinary rate.

Will the chemistry rate I was quoted be the figure on the invoice?+

Ask the provider directly and get the answer in writing, and treat any page that states the UAE tax treatment of tuition as fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation with caution, including this one. What you are entitled to know before paying is simple: whether the figure quoted to you is the figure you will be invoiced, and if not, what will be added. A provider who cannot answer that clearly for a single hour of tutoring is unlikely to be clearer about a term of it.

What is a realistic monthly budget for Year 11 chemistry in Dubai?+

Bestimate's published monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle band, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Packaged monthly arrangements seen in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions. For an Extended candidate with a grade threshold to meet for sixth form, the middle-to-specialist range is the realistic planning figure, and the total is lower if the year starts with a diagnostic rather than with a package.

Can a small group bring the cost of 0620 support down?+

Sometimes, under narrow conditions. Two students at the same tier working on the same topic in the same week can share a session productively, and the discussion between them adds something a one-to-one hour does not. A year's difference, or a tier difference, produces a session slightly wrong for both. Chemistry suffers more than most subjects here because the mole work is sequential, so one student waiting while the other catches up is paying to watch. No provider in our October 2026 sample published a group rate, which makes comparison difficult.

Which part of 0620 gives the most marks back per hour paid?+

Stoichiometry, with no serious competition. Moles, mass, concentration, volume and the balanced equation are the machinery that acids and bases, electrochemistry, energetics, metals and the analysis questions all run on, so securing it pays marks back across at least six of the twelve topic areas. After that, equation and ionic-equation writing, which drills mechanically; the practical component, which is a fifth of the grade with the most predictable mark scheme in the syllabus; and command-term discipline, which is two sessions and transfers to every paper.

Is it cheaper to start chemistry support in Year 10 than to rescue it in Year 11?+

Substantially, and it is the largest saving available anywhere on this page. A Year 10 student supported fortnightly while the school is teaching a topic only needs consolidation, which is mid-band work at a fortnightly frequency. The same student rescued in the April of Year 11 needs two or three sessions a week at peak-season availability, doing excavation rather than consolidation, and paying specialist rates for it. The cheapest chemistry plan in Dubai is almost always the one that began before anybody in the household was worried.

What should I ask before paying a deposit for a term of chemistry lessons?+

Five questions. Is marking of past papers inside the hourly figure or billed separately? What is the cancellation window, and how does it handle mock weeks and travel? Does the quoted figure include any applicable tax? Is there a minimum session commitment attached to the rate I was quoted? And what specifically will be different, on paper, after the first five sessions? The last one matters most. A provider who cannot answer it with a named topic and a form of evidence is selling hours rather than outcomes.

We only need stoichiometry fixed. Can we buy four sessions and stop?+

Yes, and it is the most sensible purchase in this subject. Four to six sessions on the mole, with a marked set of questions on that area before and after so the gain is visible, is a defined block with an end date. If the marks move, you have what you came for. If they do not, you have spent a fraction of a term finding that out and the diagnosis changes. Blocks that roll forward by default are how families end up paying for a year they never decided to buy.

Do Dubai school fee decisions affect what we should budget for tutoring?+

This year, helpfully. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate will not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. A household that budgeted for a fee rise has headroom it did not expect. The other side of the sector picture matters too: seven new private schools arrive for 2026-27, four of them UK curriculum, creating 16,846 places, so the number of 0620 candidates competing for specialist hours keeps growing while the specialist pool does not.

What does preparing for the chemistry practical paper cost, and is it worth it?+

Four to six sessions, which is the cheapest defined block in the subject, and it operates on a fifth of the total grade. The written alternative to practical has the most predictable mark scheme in the syllabus: tabulating with consistent precision, plotting with a sensible scale, reading an instrument correctly, identifying one specific source of imprecision and proposing a method change. Students revise it last because schools teach practical skills inside lessons rather than as a revision topic. On marks returned per dirham it is among the best value available.

Are there cases where you would tell us not to spend the money?+

Four come up regularly. A student who will not sit down to work needs an adult in the room, which we do not provide in the UAE, so we are the wrong purchase. A student with sound knowledge and poor paper marks needs two to four timed sessions, not a term. A student whose every lost mark traces to ratio or rearrangement should be tutored in mathematics instead, and the chemistry will follow. And nobody needs tutoring to satisfy Ministry of Education equivalency or a university application, whatever a page implies.

How does paying a Dubai home tutor compare with paying for online chemistry?+

Across every published band the in-home figure sits higher, because the drive is inside the number. Bestimate quotes in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour and independent home tutors advertise AED 200 to 500, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject teacher online. On a weekday evening in Dubai a visit can carry forty minutes of driving each way, which you are funding. What the higher figure buys is an adult physically present, and for a student who needs supervision more than chemistry that is worth paying for.
