IGCSE Home Tutor in Ajman

Search for an IGCSE home tutor in Ajman and almost nobody will show you a number. This page does. Market rates across Ajman and the northern emirates run from roughly AED 45 an hour for a university-student tutor to AED 650 for a premium named one, and the gap is mostly explained by four variables you can check before you pay. IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which removes the travel line from the quote entirely.

  • Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider that published it
  • Travel time is priced out of the quote, because sessions run over video
  • Free first lesson before any payment, and no minimum commitment after it
  • The UAE private tuition work permit is free; a quote charging for it is a flag

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

What IGCSE tuition actually costs in Ajman, and why the range is so wide

Three of the six best-ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency an Ajman household budgets in. So start with the numbers. Across the UAE, a budget online tutor is advertised from around AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, with EdFlik listing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor online sits roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. An in-home one-to-one visit, travel included, runs about AED 180 to 500, on Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table and on home-tutor listings at AED 200 to 500. A recognised IGCSE or A-Level specialist is AED 200 to 450 and upwards; TutorChase publishes AED 270. At the top, BartyED lists AED 650.

Those are market figures, not an IB Gram price list, and each is attributed above to whoever published it. That matters because a rate quoted with no source is not information. It also matters because the ranges overlap: the same human being can be worth AED 150 online and AED 300 at a door, and the difference is not teaching quality. It is forty minutes of driving each way, fuel, and an opportunity cost the tutor has to recover from somebody.

Ajman has a specific version of this problem. The emirate is compact, but the subject specialists are not evenly spread across it. A Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 teacher or an Edexcel 4CH1 chemistry specialist is far more likely to be living in Sharjah or Dubai than in Al Rawda, which means an in-home arrangement in Ajman usually prices in a cross-emirate drive during the worst part of the evening. Households in Masfout or Manama face a version of this that no amount of money solves cleanly, because the drive is simply too long to be weekly.

This is the reason IB Gram runs UAE tuition one-to-one over live video rather than at an address. It is not a cost-cutting device presented as a philosophy; the arithmetic is just better for the family. The travel line disappears, so the money that was paying for a car on Emirates Road pays for a tutor who marks the exact paper your child sits. IB Gram does not send a tutor to any address in Ajman, and home visits are a service offered only in India. Saying that plainly is more useful than letting you discover it after a deposit.

The rest of this page is arithmetic. What moves a quote and by how much, how monthly packages are actually constructed, what a realistic two-year IGCSE run costs for one child in Ajman, and where tutoring sits against the rest of the education bill. None of it contains a promised grade, because a price can be stated honestly and an outcome cannot.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four funding shapes cover nearly every Ajman enquiry. Which one you are buying changes the total far more than the hourly rate does, and most families only discover that halfway through.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9 pre-IGCSE groundwork

The cheapest hour a family will ever buy, because it is bought before anything has gone wrong. Year 9 work is about algebraic fluency, scientific notation, data handling and writing in paragraphs, and it is usually fixed in a single term of fortnightly sessions rather than a weekly commitment. Funded here, the same outcome costs a fraction of the Year 11 version.

Ajman schools make tier decisions for Mathematics and the sciences early in Year 10, and those decisions are made on Year 9 attainment. A family that spends modestly in Year 9 is often buying access to the Extended or Higher tier, which no amount of Year 11 spending can retroactively open up once entries have closed.

RUNAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

The two-year Cambridge IGCSE run

Weekly or fortnightly support across one to three subjects for the full two years. This is the largest single education purchase most families make outside school fees, and it is the one most often bought without a budget. The sensible structure is a small number of subjects funded properly rather than every subject funded thinly, because an hour spread across four papers teaches nobody anything.

Across the two years, Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Multiply by twenty-two months of term time and the two-year figure is a number worth looking at before the first session, not after the twentieth.

EDEXAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Codes run 4MA1 for Mathematics A, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1 for the sciences, 4EA1 for English Language A. Tiering is Foundation and Higher. Practical understanding is examined inside the written papers rather than in a separate component, which slightly narrows what tutoring needs to cover and occasionally narrows the fee with it.

Edexcel's November series is the quietly useful one for an Ajman budget. A single weak subject can be re-sat in November without repeating a year, which converts what would have been a full extra year of fees into a dated block of sessions. The entry window closes months earlier, so the saving is only available to families who plan in the autumn.

RESITAges 16-18 · Post Year 11

Single-subject re-entry and resits

The narrowest and most cost-efficient purchase on this list: one paper, one error log, a fixed number of sessions, a stated finish date. Because the content was covered once already, the work is almost entirely technique and timing, and technique moves faster than content. Open-ended arrangements make no sense here and should be refused.

A resit candidate in Ajman normally sits as a private candidate through an approved centre, and centres set their own administrative charges on top of the board's entry fee. Ask the centre for the full figure in writing before planning the tutoring budget, because that cost lands in the same month as the sessions.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates are not uniform across subjects. The driver is scarcity of people who can mark the paper, not difficulty of the content, and the two are often unrelated. Here is where the premium sits in the Ajman market and why.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

The deepest supply pool in the emirate, so the most competitive rate. Expect to find qualified maths tutors across the whole published band rather than only at the top, and expect a wide quality spread at the lower end. The price signal here is weak; ask for marked evidence instead.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

A genuine scarcity premium. Few tutors in the northern emirates teach 0606 regularly, and those who do often sit at the specialist end of the band. If a quote for 0606 comes in at a budget rate, the likely explanation is that the tutor has not taught the syllabus rather than that you found a bargain.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Mid to upper band. The written practical component on the Cambridge route narrows the pool further, because teaching it needs familiarity with how experimental skills are examined on paper. Tutors who can do that part credibly price accordingly, and it is usually worth it.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Similar to physics, with the organic pathways and electrolysis content concentrating demand in the months before the series. Rates on chemistry visibly firm up in the spring term, which is one of the few places where seasonality genuinely shows in a quote.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Broad supply, moderate rate. The risk is paying a general science tutor a biology rate: the extended-response marking in biology is a specific skill, and a tutor who cannot show marked examples of it is being paid for the subject label rather than the capability.

English as a First Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Rates vary more than any other subject, because almost anyone can present as an English tutor and very few can mark directed writing against the published bands. The useful filter is a marked sample with band references on it, and that filter removes most of the lower end of the market.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

Widely available at mid-band rates across Ajman and Sharjah. The pitfall is being sold 0500 technique at a 0510 price, or the reverse. The two are assessed on different criteria and confirming which code your child is entered for is the single cheapest thing you can do before agreeing a rate.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Competitive rates, thin specialist depth. Many tutors can teach the content and fewer can train case-study application, which is where the grade is decided. Ask for a marked extended answer showing where the application and evaluation marks were awarded before you accept a rate at the upper end.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Upper-mid band, with scarcity driven by diagram marking. A tutor who corrects axes, titles and shift arrows on a student's own diagram is doing the job; one who presents finished diagrams is not, and that distinction is worth more than a hundred dirhams an hour of nominal seniority.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

The clearest scarcity premium after 0606. Paper 2 algorithm design and pseudocode tracing needs a tutor who has marked it, and that pool is small in the northern emirates. Online delivery widens the pool enormously, which is where the price advantage of video becomes concrete rather than theoretical.

Accounting (Cambridge 0452)

Single tier

Mid band, with a short seasonal spike. Format discipline carries most of the marks, so sessions are heavy on timed practice and light on explanation, which means fewer total hours are usually needed than families budget for. That is a saving worth taking.

Geography (Cambridge 0460)

Single tier

Lower-mid band and broadly available. Case-study specificity is what moves marks, and building it is more about structured recall work between sessions than about hours in the session, so a fortnightly arrangement often delivers the same result as a weekly one at half the cost.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy, priced on different logic. All three run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so none of them carries a travel component.

Single diagnostic hour

One session, free, spent on a past-paper question set rather than on introductions. It exists because the commonest budgeting mistake in this market is committing to a month before anyone has established what the problem is. A diagnostic hour tells you whether you are buying a technique fix of three weeks or a content rebuild of a term, and those have very different prices.

  • No charge and no card required to take it
  • Produces a marked script and a written view of the problem type
  • You keep the diagnosis whether or not you continue
  • Scheduled after the Ajman evening commute, or on a weekend morning

Weekly block, reviewed monthly

One or two sessions a week with a written review at week six, no retainer and no multi-month lock-in. The reason to avoid long prepaid packages is simple: a package creates a reason to keep teaching after the problem is solved. A monthly review creates a reason to stop. Published monthly packages elsewhere in this market run from around AED 799 for eight online sessions to AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

  • Billed monthly, cancellable monthly, no joining fee
  • Written review at week six with a stated recommendation
  • Reschedules inside the month handled without a charge
  • Second subject added only when the first has a closing error tally

Exam-term intensive

A dated block in the weeks before a June or November series, aimed at named papers. It is the most expensive format per month and the cheapest per mark recovered, because the content is already in place and the work is pure execution. It has a fixed finish date, which is the whole point: the calendar ends the spending rather than a conversation.

  • Fixed session count with a stated end date before the paper
  • Topic choice driven by the mock error log, not the syllabus order
  • Timed full papers at the start and end of the block for comparison
  • Closing note listing what was fixed and what was not reached

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

What the Ajman and northern-emirates market charges for IGCSE tuition

An IGCSE hour in the UAE is sold at between roughly AED 45 and AED 650, and the first job of this section is to show you which band you are being quoted from. The bands are real and the boundaries between them are about who the tutor is rather than what they teach. A university student revising alongside your child is a different product from a teacher who has marked the paper, and both are legitimate purchases at the right price for the right problem.

Every figure in the table is attributed to the provider that published it, with the date of the research. That is not a formality. Three of the six strongest-ranking pages in this search publish no price whatsoever, and one of them asks the price question in its own FAQ and then declines to answer it. A sourced number is checkable; an unsourced one is marketing. If a provider will not tell you which band they sit in before a call, you already know something useful.

Read the band against the problem rather than against your budget. A Year 9 fluency gap in algebra is genuinely well served at the lower end, because what is needed is supervised practice and someone to notice when a method is wrong. A Year 11 student losing evaluation marks on Economics 0455 extended questions is not, because the person at that rate has probably never marked one. Paying specialist money for a fluency problem is as wasteful as paying budget money for a marking problem, and families do both.

One structural point about the in-home band. The AED 180 to 500 range for a one-to-one visit includes travel, and travel is not a service. It is a cost that has to be covered before any teaching happens, and in Ajman, where most subject specialists live in Sharjah or Dubai, it is a large one.

Eight things that move the number on an IGCSE quote

  • Subject scarcity and delivery format move a quote most; payment terms move it least
  • Starting in October rather than March is the discount nobody markets
  • A travel line in Ajman is frequently the largest single component of an in-home rate
  • Two siblings in one session reduces the per-child cost and the per-child attention equally

Once you know the bands, the useful question is what pushes a specific quote up or down inside them. There are eight common variables and they are not equally important. Subject scarcity and delivery format do most of the work; session length and payment terms do almost none, despite being the two things families negotiate hardest.

Scarcity is the big one and it is counter-intuitive. Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 and Computer Science 0478 cost more in the northern emirates than Physics 0625 does, not because they are harder but because fewer people in reachable distance have marked them. That is precisely the premium that disappears when delivery stops depending on reachable distance, which is the single strongest financial argument for video in a market like Ajman.

Timing is the second. Chemistry and Mathematics rates visibly firm up in the spring term as the June series approaches, and a family that starts in October is buying at a different price from a family that starts in March. The honest version of this is not that providers raise prices opportunistically; it is that the available specialists fill their evenings, and what is left is priced as scarcity. Starting early is a discount nobody advertises.

The table below sets out all eight with a rough direction and size. The sizes are indicative percentages of the base rate from the published bands above, not a tariff, and any provider who quotes you a precise multiplier for any of them is inventing it.

03

The travel line nobody itemises, and what it costs an Ajman household

  • An in-home hour in Ajman commonly costs the tutor 90 to 120 minutes of evening
  • The AED 180-500 in-home band against AED 150-300 online is largely that drive
  • No weekly in-home rate is rational for Masfout or Manama, which is a logistics limit
  • A tired tutor and a waiting student are a quality cost on top of the money

In-home quotes in the UAE are almost always presented as a single hourly figure with travel folded in, which conceals the most interesting number in the whole arrangement. Work it out and the picture changes. A specialist based in Sharjah coming to Al Mowaihat for a one-hour session is committing somewhere around ninety minutes to two hours of total time in the evening peak. The teaching is one hour of that. The rest is a cost the family pays for without receiving anything.

That is why the in-home band sits at AED 180 to 500 while the same tutor delivering online sits at AED 150 to 300. The gap is not a premium for presence; it is a reimbursement for a drive. And the gap is wider in Ajman than in central Dubai, because the specialist pool is further away. A household in Masfout or Manama cannot buy the service at all on a weekly basis, at any price, because there is no rate at which a twice-weekly inland round trip is rational for a tutor.

There is a second, less visible cost: the session gets worse. A tutor arriving at 7.15pm after fifty minutes on Emirates Road is not at their best, and a student who has been told to wait at home rather than get on with homework has lost the same fifty minutes. Whatever the merits of face-to-face teaching in principle, the version being sold in this corridor is frequently a tired adult and a restless teenager at the end of a long drive.

None of this makes in-home tutoring a bad product. For a Year 7 child who needs supervision as much as instruction, for a student who genuinely cannot work on a screen, or where a local tutor happens to live three streets away and teaches the right paper, it can be exactly right. It is just rarely the right answer for an Ajman Year 11 student who needs a specialist on a specific component, and the honest reason is geography rather than ideology.

04

Monthly packages, and the arithmetic providers do not show you

Monthly packages are the normal way this market sells, and they are worth reading as arithmetic rather than as offers. The published shapes in the UAE include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Divide those out and the effective hourly rates are very different from the headline, which is the point of packaging.

Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions give a cleaner comparison: roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. A family funding two subjects at the specialist end during Year 11 is therefore looking at a four-figure monthly commitment, and that is a number to see in October rather than to discover in March.

The structural risk in a package is not the price. It is the incentive. A prepaid three-month block gives a provider a reason to keep delivering sessions after the problem has been fixed, and gives the family a reason to keep attending in order not to waste the money. Both reasons are bad. A monthly arrangement with a written review at week six creates the opposite pressure, which is why that is how this works here, and why there is no joining fee or prepaid term to recover.

The table converts the published package shapes into effective hourly figures so you can compare them against the band table above. Where a figure is derived rather than published, it says so.

Two years, nine subjects: a worked IGCSE budget for one Ajman child

  • Nine subjects, two years, twenty-two months of term time: nobody funds all of it
  • A realistic plan funds 25 to 40 subject-months, not 198
  • Thirty subject-months at the mid band lands around AED 18,000-36,000 over two years
  • Establish technique versus content in the first six weeks, before the total is committed

Families budget per hour and spend per year, which is how a modest-sounding rate becomes a surprising annual figure. Work the whole thing through once, in advance, and most of the stress comes out of it. Take a typical Ajman student carrying nine IGCSE subjects across Years 10 and 11, roughly twenty-two months of term time once holidays are removed.

Nobody funds nine subjects and nobody should try. The realistic shape is one to three subjects supported at any one time, with the selection changing as error logs close. A workable plan looks like this: Year 10 carries one subject weekly, usually Mathematics, because it underpins the sciences. Year 11 autumn adds a second, chosen from the mock results. The spring term before the series runs two subjects with a dated intensive on the weakest paper. Total funded subject-months across the two years come to somewhere between twenty-five and forty, not one hundred and ninety-eight.

Apply the published monthly bands to that and the arithmetic is tractable. Thirty funded subject-months at the mid band of AED 600 to 1,200 is a two-year total in the region of AED 18,000 to 36,000, and the same plan at the budget band is materially less while buying materially less. An in-home version of the same plan costs more because of the travel component, and in Ajman specifically it also costs availability, since the specialist for the weakest paper may simply not be drivable.

The number worth writing down is the one per recovered mark rather than per hour, and it cannot be calculated in advance. What can be done is to spend the first six weeks establishing whether this is a technique problem or a content problem, because the two have completely different durations and therefore completely different totals. That is exactly what the free first lesson and the week-six review exist to establish, before the big number is committed.

06

Why this is delivered over video, and what that does to the bill

  • Delivery is one-to-one over live video; IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE
  • Removing travel is why the online band sits below the in-home band
  • Distance stops deciding which specialists your child can reach
  • Where a screen genuinely will not work, a local in-home provider is the better buy

IB Gram delivers UAE tuition one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. There are no home visits anywhere in the UAE; those are offered only in India. That is stated here rather than buried, because the phrase you searched for was a home tutor and you are entitled to know exactly what is on offer before you read another word about price.

The financial effect is straightforward. Removing the drive removes the component that pushes the in-home band to AED 180-500 and keeps the online band at AED 150-300. More importantly for Ajman, it removes distance as a constraint on who can teach your child. The 0606 specialist, the 0478 algorithm marker, the person who has actually marked Cambridge written practical papers: none of them need to be within forty minutes of Al Rawda. That is not a cost saving dressed up as a benefit. It is the reason the saving exists.

The trade-offs are real and worth naming. A screen is worse for a young child who needs an adult physically present to stay on task. It needs a stable connection and a quiet room, which is harder in a shared Corniche apartment than in a Zorah villa. It requires a tablet or laptop and, for maths and sciences, ideally a writing surface the tutor can see. Where those conditions cannot be met, in-home tuition from a local provider is the better purchase and we will say so rather than sell around it.

What video does not compromise is the evidence. Marking happens on a shared screen in front of the student, scripts are saved rather than left in a notebook, and the raw-mark log is a document a parent can open at any time. An in-home session in a kitchen produces none of that unless the tutor chooses to build it, and most do not.

07

Tutoring in the context of the rest of the education bill

  • KHDA confirmed no private school fee increase in Dubai for 2026-27, in May 2026
  • Dubai held 387,441 private school students across 227 schools in 2024-25
  • Exam entry and private-candidate centre charges land in the heaviest tutoring month
  • A repeated year costs more than any realistic tutoring plan, which is the real comparison

A tutoring figure means little in isolation. It sits alongside school fees, transport, exam entry and the various administrative charges that arrive in the same months, and the only sensible way to judge it is against that whole bill. For families in the northern emirates with a child enrolled in Dubai, there is useful public context: KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

Scale is worth knowing too. Dubai's private school sector in 2024-25 held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum accounting for 37% of enrolment, Indian 26%, American 14% and the International Baccalaureate 7%. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. That is the market Ajman families are competing in for sixth-form places, and it is why IGCSE grades carry weight beyond the certificate itself.

Exam costs belong in the budget and cannot be stated here, because they are set by the board and by the centre rather than by us, and a private candidate's administrative charge varies between centres. Ask the school exams officer, or the approved centre if your child is sitting privately, for the full figure in writing. It lands in the same month as the heaviest tutoring and families are regularly caught by that overlap.

The last item is the one nobody budgets: repeating a year. An extra year of private school fees dwarfs any plausible tutoring spend, which is the honest commercial case for funding a weak subject properly in Year 10 rather than hoping. It is also the case for the November re-entry route, which converts a lost year into a dated block of sessions.

08

Ten questions to ask before you accept an IGCSE quote

  • Which band is this rate, and which component has the tutor actually marked?
  • Is travel included, and how long is the journey to my area in the evening?
  • What evidence will I receive after each session, and when?
  • Under what circumstances would you tell me to stop paying?

A quote is a document you are allowed to interrogate, and in this market the answers are more informative than the number. Ten questions cover almost everything, and three of them tend to end conversations quickly.

Ask which band the rate sits in and why. Ask which syllabus code and component the tutor has marked, and for a redacted sample of that marking. Ask whether travel is included and how long the journey to your area takes, because an honest answer tells you whether the rate is sustainable or will quietly rise. Ask what happens if you cancel after one session. Ask whether the figure includes VAT; providers should be able to state the position on their own pricing in writing, and nobody should be inventing a general tax ruling for you. Ask who is actually delivering the session, because agencies sometimes quote at a specialist rate and allocate at a general one.

Then the three uncomfortable ones. Ask for the circumstances in which they would recommend stopping. Ask what evidence you will receive and when. And ask whether they are promising an outcome, because any answer that commits to a specific grade or an improvement figure is a reason to end the conversation: no tutor can commit to a mark on a results slip, and offering to is either a misunderstanding of the examination or a deliberate one.

One Ajman-specific check. The UAE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by MoHRE, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee. A quote that itemises a licensing or permit cost is charging you for something that is free. That is a small amount of money and a large amount of information about who you are dealing with.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Ajman

In an in-home arrangement, your address is a line item. The notes below are about distance and evening traffic rather than community character, because those are the two things that change what a visiting tutor has to charge.

Al Nuaimiya

Central and quick to reach from Sharjah, so in-home quotes here sit at the lower end of the travel premium. The trade-off is that evening parking and lift access in the denser blocks eats ten minutes a tutor still has to be paid for.

Al Rashidiya

Close to the city core with reasonable access from the Sharjah side. Households running two children on different boards often find the in-home model prices badly here, because two subjects means either two visits or one tutor pretending to cover both.

Al Jurf

Long internal roads and an awkward run to the Emirates Road junctions. Quotes reflect it. Families here report the widest gap between a tutor's advertised rate and the figure finally agreed once travel was discussed honestly.

Al Mowaihat

Mowaihat 1, 2 and 3 are villa areas with a real cross-emirate drive for most specialists. This is where the in-home premium is largest in Ajman, and where replacing it with video changes a budget most visibly.

Al Zahya and Al Tallah

Newer Emirates Road developments with decent access, which keeps the travel premium moderate. These are also the households most likely to be funding an IGCSE child and an IB child at once, which is a different budgeting problem altogether.

Al Helio and Al Rawda

Established areas with short local journeys, so a second weekly session is cheaper to add here than almost anywhere else in the emirate. That matters in the term before a November entry when hours need to concentrate.

Ajman Corniche and Al Rumailah

Seafront apartments where the constraint is a quiet room rather than a quote. Evening noise pushes timed paper practice to weekend mornings, and weekend slots occasionally carry a premium in the local market.

Emirates City and Al Alia

The longest evening drives in Ajman and the latest realistic start times. An in-home tutor pricing a 8.30pm session here is pricing a journey home at 10pm, and the quote shows it.

Al Yasmeen and Al Zorah

Low-density villas with easy parking but a longer approach. Families here tend to buy one longer weekly session rather than two short ones, which is the right call economically as well as practically.

Masfout and Manama

The inland exclaves, where a weekly in-home specialist is not a pricing question but a logistics impossibility. Delivery over live video is the only route to a 0606 or 0478 tutor at any price.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman

Ajman city schools: the established cluster

Fee levels and tutoring demand both concentrate here. Enquiries from this cluster are most often about Mathematics and the sciences, and most often arrive after a Year 10 report rather than before one.

  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Ajman
  • Ibn Seena English High School, Ajman
  • Habitat School, Ajman
  • Ajman Modern School
  • Al Ameer English School, Ajman
  • Scholars Indian School, Ajman

The Emirates Road belt

Newer schools serving the villa developments, with a wider board mix. Budget questions from this belt lean towards funding two curricula in one household and towards sixth-form entry requirements.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Pace British School, Ajman
  • The City School International, Ajman
  • Ajman Private School

Cross-border enrolment in Sharjah and Dubai

Where an Ajman child is enrolled outside the emirate, the school day finishes further away and the in-home tutoring window narrows at both ends. That compression is the hidden cost in a cross-border enrolment.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • The International School of Creative Science, Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah
  • The Westminster School, Dubai

Schools are named as market context for Ajman families only; no affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Say what you are solving

Send the subject list with syllabus codes from the school's entry statement, the tier your child sits in, and what the last report or mock said. A rate quoted without that information is a guess, and guessed rates are the ones that move after a month.

  2. 02

    Take the free hour

One full session at no cost, spent on a past-paper question set. It produces a marked script and a written view of whether this is a three-week technique problem or a term-long content problem. Those two have very different totals, and you should know which you are funding.

  3. 03

Price the plan, not the hour

Work out how many subject-months you are actually buying across the rest of Year 10 and Year 11, then apply a monthly band to it. Most families discover the plan is smaller and the total larger than they assumed, which is a better thing to discover in October than in March.

  4. 04

Start monthly, review at six weeks

Billed monthly with no joining fee and no prepaid term. At week six you receive a written review with a recommendation that may be to change subject focus or to stop. Reschedules inside the month are not charged, because Ajman evening traffic is not something you control.

  5. 05

Add a second subject only on evidence

A second subject is added when the first one's error tally is visibly closing, not when the term starts. Funding two subjects thinly from the outset is the most common way an IGCSE budget gets spent without a grade moving.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures with a source attached

Every AED number on this page names the provider that published it and the month it was researched. Three of the strongest pages in this search publish no price at all, and one asks the price question in its own FAQ and then declines to answer it.

No travel in the quote

Sessions run over live video, so nothing in the price is paying for a car on Emirates Road. In Ajman, where most subject specialists are based in Sharjah or Dubai, that is the largest single component removed from an in-home rate.

Specialists regardless of distance

A household in Masfout or Al Mowaihat reaches the same 0606 or 0478 specialist as one in Al Nuaimiya. Distance stops being a filter on who can teach your child, which is where the real value of video delivery sits.

Monthly, with a reason to stop

No joining fee, no prepaid block and a written review at week six that can recommend stopping. Prepaid packages create an incentive to keep teaching after the problem is solved; monthly billing creates the opposite one.

Market rates, not our price list

The bands here describe what the UAE market charges, attributed to their sources. For what a specific plan would cost, the free first lesson and the follow-up conversation give you a figure based on your child's actual papers rather than a tariff.

Nothing promised about grades

No session, block or intensive carries a promised grade, score or improvement figure. What is committed to is the evidence, the review dates and an honest recommendation, including the recommendation that a tutor is the wrong purchase.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

What does an IGCSE home tutor in Ajman charge per hour in 2026?+

Across the UAE market, an in-home one-to-one visit with travel included is published at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table at AED 180 to 350 and home-tutor listings at AED 200 to 500. In Ajman the figure tends to sit in the upper part of that band for anything specialist, because most subject specialists are based in Sharjah or Dubai and the quote has to cover the drive. The same teaching delivered over live video is published at AED 150 to 300. Those are market figures, attributed to their sources, not a price list.

Why is an in-home rate in Ajman higher than the same tutor online?+

Because you are paying for a journey as well as a lesson. A specialist travelling from Sharjah to Al Mowaihat for a one-hour evening session commits roughly ninety minutes to two hours in total, of which only one hour is teaching. That unpaid time has to be recovered somewhere, and it is recovered in the hourly rate. The published gap between the AED 180 to 500 in-home band and the AED 150 to 300 online band is largely that recovery. In Ajman the gap widens, because the specialist pool sits further away than it does in central Dubai.

Is a monthly IGCSE package cheaper than paying session by session?+

Slightly, and the saving is usually smaller than the risk. Published UAE packages include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, which work out at roughly AED 100 and AED 200 to 225 an hour respectively. The discount against a per-session rate is real but modest. The problem is the incentive: a prepaid block gives a provider a reason to keep delivering sessions after the problem is fixed, and gives you a reason to keep attending so the money is not wasted. Monthly billing with a review avoids both.

Should I be paying for a tutor's travel time to Al Mowaihat?+

If someone is driving to Al Mowaihat in the evening peak, then yes, somebody has to pay for it, and pretending otherwise just means the rate rises later. The honest question is whether you want to buy it at all. For a Year 7 child who needs an adult present, it can be worth every dirham. For a Year 11 student who needs a specialist on Cambridge 0606 or a written practical paper, you are paying a large travel premium for a smaller pool of available tutors. Over live video the travel line disappears and the pool stops depending on distance.

How much should two years of IGCSE support cost for one child?+

Work it in subject-months rather than hours. A realistic plan across Years 10 and 11 funds one to three subjects at a time, totalling roughly 25 to 40 funded subject-months rather than every subject for twenty-two months. At Bestimate's mid monthly band of AED 600 to 1,200 for weekly one-hour sessions, thirty subject-months lands somewhere around AED 18,000 to 36,000 across the two years. The budget band is materially less and buys materially less. The exam-year specialist band of AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month moves the total upwards sharply.

Does an IGCSE tutor charge more for Physics than for Business Studies?+

Usually a little, but the bigger gaps are elsewhere. The driver is scarcity of people who have marked the component, not difficulty of the subject. In the northern emirates, Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 and Computer Science 0478 carry the clearest premiums, because very few reachable tutors teach them regularly. Physics 0625 sits mid to upper band partly because of the written practical component. Business Studies 0450 looks competitive on price but has thin specialist depth, so the risk there is paying a fair rate to someone who cannot train case-study application.

Do tutoring rates in Ajman climb as the June series gets closer?+

Effectively yes, and not because providers raise prices opportunistically. Specialist evening slots fill through the spring term, so a family starting in March is choosing from what is left rather than from the whole pool, and what is left prices as scarcity. Chemistry and Mathematics show this most visibly. The practical consequence is that starting in October is a discount nobody advertises: the same tutor at the same nominal rate, chosen from a wider set, with more weeks to work with. Late starts cost more and deliver less for structural reasons rather than commercial ones.

Is a cheaper university-student tutor a false economy at IGCSE?+

Not always. For a Year 9 or early Year 10 fluency problem, where the need is supervised practice and someone to notice a wrong method early, the budget band of AED 45 to 150 is a sensible purchase and the alternative is overpaying. It becomes a false economy at the point where the problem is mark-scheme technique on a specific component. Somebody who has not marked Economics 0455 extended responses cannot teach the evaluation marks, however well they understand economics. Match the band to the problem rather than to the budget, and expect to change band as the problem changes.

Are IGCSE tutoring fees in the UAE subject to VAT?+

That depends on the provider's own tax position, and this page will not state a general ruling for you. What any provider should be able to do is tell you in writing whether their quoted figure includes VAT, and show a tax registration number if they hold one. If a quote is silent on the point, ask before you agree it, because the difference is material on a four-figure monthly commitment. For the treatment of education services in general, the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance is the only source worth relying on, not a tutoring company's summary of it.

Should a tutor's quote include a charge for the MoHRE permit?+

No, and if it does, that is useful information. The UAE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service page for private tutor licensing lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. A quote itemising a permit cost is charging you for something that costs nothing.

How many IGCSE subjects can one Ajman family realistically fund?+

One to three at any given time, and fewer than families expect. The failure pattern is funding four subjects thinly, where each gets a fortnightly half-hour of attention, nothing closes, and a year's budget is spent without a grade moving. The alternative is to fund one subject properly until its error tally is visibly closing, then rotate the money to the next. Mathematics is usually first, because it underpins the sciences. The second subject should be chosen from mock results rather than from a feeling about which teacher your child dislikes.

What is a fair price for a 90-minute IGCSE session in Ajman?+

Take the hourly band the tutor sits in and expect a small discount per hour for the longer slot, because setup and settling time is amortised across more teaching. A qualified subject tutor online at AED 150 to 300 an hour should therefore price ninety minutes somewhat below one and a half times the hourly figure. The ninety-minute slot is worth buying where a full structured paper is being worked through, since a 60-minute session cannot contain an attempt and its marking. For technique drills, two shorter sessions usually beat one long one.

Do two siblings sharing one IGCSE session halve the cost?+

The cost per child falls, and so does the attention per child, in roughly the same proportion. It works where both children are on the same board, the same subject and a similar level, which in practice means twins or a tight year gap. It works badly where one is sitting Cambridge 0580 and the other Edexcel 4MA1, because the papers and mark schemes differ and the session becomes two half-sessions. Two separate marked records still have to come out of it. Tell us both sets of codes and we will say honestly whether one session fits.

Who pays the IGCSE exam entry fee for a private candidate in the UAE?+

The family does, through the approved centre that enters the candidate, and the total has two parts: the board's entry fee for each syllabus and the centre's own administrative charge. Centres set the second part themselves, so the figure varies and no honest page can quote it for you. Ask the centre for the full amount in writing before you build a tutoring budget, because entry money and the heaviest tutoring month usually arrive together. Entry deadlines also sit months ahead of the papers, so this is an autumn conversation rather than a spring one.

What does the first month of IGCSE tutoring in Ajman actually cost?+

The first lesson costs nothing. After that, a single subject at one session a week sits inside the published monthly bands: roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, on Bestimate's estimates. There is no joining fee and no prepaid term, so the first month is also the smallest commitment available. What you should have at the end of it is four marked scripts, an error tally and enough information to decide whether month two is worth buying.

The bands on this page describe the UAE market with sources attached. What a specific plan costs depends on which subjects, which codes and how many months, and that is a short conversation rather than a tariff. Start with the free first lesson: one full session on a past-paper question set, a marked script at the end of it, and a written view of whether you are funding a three-week technique fix or a term of content. Sessions run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, billed monthly, with no joining fee and nothing prepaid.
