IB Diploma Tutor in Ras Al Khaimah

Hiring an IB Diploma tutor in Ras Al Khaimah is a different problem from hiring one in Dubai, because this emirate has its own regulator, a small Diploma cohort and a school calendar that puts the pressure in different weeks. Every claim on this page is anchored to the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, the campuses that actually run the programme here and the terms your child's school works to. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Ras Al Khaimah

A Diploma cohort in this emirate is small, and that changes every answer

An IB Diploma tutor in Ras Al Khaimah is usually needed for a reason that would not arise further south. The emirate's private-school set is concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab, and the number of campuses running the full Diploma is small. Where a Dubai school might run four Higher Level chemistry sets and timetable them against three different option blocks, a Ras Al Khaimah school runs one set or none. A student who wants Higher Level physics and Higher Level economics may find the timetable simply does not allow both.

That arithmetic produces three recurring situations. The first is a student taking a subject at Standard Level who needed Higher Level for a degree route, and who now has to cover the extra material somewhere. The second is a student in a set of eight where a single mid-year staff change removes the only specialist on campus. The third is a student whose chosen subject was never offered, who is studying it with a teacher covering outside their field or self-studying towards a May entry. None of those are failures by the school; they are what a small cohort costs.

The regulator here is not the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and that matters more than most tutoring pages admit. Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge. The federal portal states that the Ras Al Khaimah authority regulates private education in the emirate, and that the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. So when a school here adds the Diploma, changes a fee or revises how it assesses, a body inside this emirate has approved it.

The calendar is local too. Ras Al Khaimah schools sit the May session, and the weeks that matter are set by their own term dates, their internal coursework deadlines and the fortnights the UAE academic year removes. Ramadan shifts the usable study evening. Exam leave starts earlier than families expect. A plan built from a generic Dubai timeline will miss the two or three weeks where a Diploma student in this emirate actually has capacity to change something.

What this page does is set out the Diploma as a Ras Al Khaimah student meets it: the option-block reality, the internal assessment that decides a large share of each grade, the local calendar counted backwards, the Ministry of Education equivalency route and the universities inside the emirate, the academic-honesty boundary when one supervisor covers a whole year group, and what support costs in dirhams. Lessons are delivered online over live video. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that is an India-only service, and we would rather state it than imply otherwise.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three programmes matter to a Ras Al Khaimah Diploma family: the Diploma itself, the Middle Years Programme that feeds it on continuum campuses, and the IGCSE route most of the emirate's other schools run into sixteen.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subject groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus three core elements: the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and creativity, activity, service. Each subject carries internally assessed work marked by the school and moderated by the IB, alongside externally marked examinations. Subjects are graded one to seven, with additional points available from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge combination.

In Ras Al Khaimah the Diploma runs on a small number of campuses, so option blocks are tight and a Higher Level set may have single figures in it. The practical consequence is that subject choice is constrained by the timetable rather than by the student's preference, and the gap that creates is the commonest reason a family here looks for outside support.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

The five-year programme preceding the Diploma on continuum campuses, assessed against four published criteria per subject on a one to eight scale rather than by examination. Students arriving into Year 12 from MYP 5 have usually never sat a timed external paper, so the first term of the Diploma is a change in assessment format as much as in content difficulty.

Ras Al Khaimah continuum campuses move students from MYP 5 into Year 12 with the same staff and the same buildings, which masks how different the assessment becomes. The mathematics pathway chosen in MYP 4 is the decision that most often determines whether Higher Level mathematics is available two years later on a small timetable.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE

The examined route into sixteen that most Ras Al Khaimah schools run, assessed by externally marked papers in a June or November series. Cambridge syllabuses are tiered Core or Extended and Pearson offers tiering in some subjects, with the tier setting a ceiling on the achievable grade. The five-subject count at grade E or 3 is what the Ministry of Education uses for equivalency on the British track.

Students crossing from an IGCSE stream into a Ras Al Khaimah Diploma cohort arrive with strong examination technique and no experience of internally assessed investigation work. The first Internal Assessment is where that shows, and it is the most profitable thing to work on in the first term of Year 12.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma support requests from this emirate cluster heavily in mathematics and the sciences at Higher Level, because those are the sets a small school can least afford to staff twice. Each subject below names what is actually assessed internally and where marks go.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency, calculus and proof, with an internally assessed exploration carrying a published share of the grade. Higher Level adds depth in calculus and proof that Standard Level does not touch. Marks are lost in extended response questions where a correct method stops short of an interpreted answer, and in the exploration where personal engagement and mathematical communication are thin.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-led methods, with the same exploration requirement. The Higher Level course expects confident use of a graphical calculator for problems that cannot be done by hand. Students who treat it as the easier route and then meet the statistics content late in Year 13 are the commonest repair job we are asked to take on.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, waves, electricity, fields, energy and the additional Higher Level depth, with an internally assessed scientific investigation. Examination marks go missing in questions requiring a graph gradient to be interpreted physically rather than calculated, and in explanations that describe a result instead of accounting for it using a named principle.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure, reactivity, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium and organic chemistry, plus the internally assessed investigation. Mole arithmetic with units carried correctly, and clear uncertainty treatment in practical write-ups, are the two highest-value repairs. Organic mechanisms reward pattern recognition that can be drilled in a handful of sessions.

Biology

HL and SL

Cells, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, physiology and the Higher Level extensions, with an internally assessed investigation. The marks sit in data analysis and in command-term discipline: an answer that describes a trend when the question asked for an explanation earns part of the credit at best, which students repeat for two years unless it is named.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy, with internally assessed commentaries on published news articles against real economic theory. Diagrams drawn accurately and labelled fully carry marks that students routinely forgo, and the commentary word limit is enforced, so editing to length is part of the skill.

Business Management

HL and SL

Organisational structure, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with internally assessed written work based on real or supplied organisational data. Higher Level adds depth and a longer research requirement. Students lose marks by describing a business rather than applying a named tool to evidence and reaching a supported judgement.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Non-literary and literary texts studied together, assessed through examinations, an individual oral and, at Higher Level, an essay. The oral is the component students prepare least and panic about most; it rewards a global issue stated precisely and extracts chosen because they evidence it rather than because they are familiar.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Systems, computational thinking, programming and the internally assessed solution with its documentation. The documentation, not the program, is what is marked, so a working product with a thin design and testing record scores poorly. That single fact changes how most students allocate their time once it is explained.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The exhibition and the prescribed-title essay, combined with the Extended Essay for additional points. Students who treat it as opinion writing stall; the marks attach to knowledge questions handled with real examples and a counter-position taken seriously. It is coachable, and it is the core element most often left until too late.

Extended Essay

Core

A four-thousand-word independent research essay in a chosen subject with a school supervisor. Most lost marks are structural: a research question too broad to answer in the length, a method section missing, and a conclusion that summarises rather than answers. A tutor may coach the process and respond to the student's own drafts, never supply content.

Arabic

Language B or ab initio, plus mandatory provision

Arabic runs alongside the Diploma for UAE students as a federal requirement, with separate provision for Arabic speakers and non-Arabic speakers. A Diploma student may also take Arabic as a Language B or ab initio subject, which is a different course from the mandatory provision, and support must be matched to whichever the school has placed them in.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes cover almost every Diploma request from this emirate, and all three run over live video with a shared screen and a document both sides can annotate.

Weekly Higher Level subject support

One or two sixty- or ninety-minute slots a week in a single subject at Higher Level, usually for a student whose school runs one set and cannot differentiate inside it. The session follows the school's scheme of work so the student is never carrying two parallel syllabuses.

  • Matched on subject and level, not on location
  • Follows the school's own scheme of work and deadlines
  • Written note after each session naming what was covered
  • Ninety minutes where the content density justifies it

Internal assessment and core coaching

Process work on the exploration, the scientific investigation, the economics commentaries, the Theory of Knowledge essay or the Extended Essay. The tutor coaches method, questions reasoning and responds to drafts the student has written, and supplies no content.

  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable in the length
  • Criteria read as a checklist against the student's own draft
  • Milestones set so the work is finished before the school deadline
  • A written record of what the tutor did, for the school if asked

The gap-closing block for an unavailable subject

Short, defined courses for students whose timetable put them in the wrong level, or whose subject is covered by a teacher outside their field. Scope and end date are agreed in writing, because this work either closes a specific gap or it should stop.

  • Standard to Higher Level content bridging in a named subject
  • Support for a subject the campus could not timetable
  • Six to ten sessions with a stated target and finish date
  • An honest verdict at the end, including when to stop

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ras Al Khaimah

01

Option blocks in a small cohort, and the subjects a timetable quietly removes

The first thing to establish about a Ras Al Khaimah Diploma is which subjects the timetable actually permits together. A Diploma student picks one subject from each of six groups, three at Higher Level. On a large campus the same subject runs in two or three blocks, so most combinations are possible. On a campus with a Diploma cohort in the tens, each subject runs once, which means two subjects sitting in the same block are mutually exclusive no matter how much a student wants both.

Families discover this at the point of choosing, usually in the spring of MYP 5 or Year 11, and the consequences land eighteen months later. A student aiming at engineering who could not fit Higher Level physics alongside Higher Level mathematics is now applying with Standard Level physics. A student who wanted economics and business management will have been told to pick one. These are not errors; they are what one teaching set per subject produces.

There are three legitimate responses and it is worth knowing them before accepting the first one offered. The school may be able to run a subject with a very small group, sometimes by timetabling it against a study period, and it is reasonable to ask. A student may sit a subject as an additional entry with school agreement, which requires real self-discipline and a teacher willing to supervise. Or the student takes the Standard Level option and covers the Higher Level gap deliberately, which is the situation most of our Ras Al Khaimah Diploma work addresses.

What none of those responses tolerates is vagueness. If a university route expects Higher Level mathematics and the timetable gives Standard Level, the gap needs naming in content terms, not in reassurance. Ask the school for the written option blocks and the subjects in each. Ask which degree routes the current combination closes. Then decide whether to argue with the timetable or to cover the gap, because doing neither is the expensive option.

What the Department of Knowledge approves at your child's school

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the emirates with its own education regulator rather than federal supervision, and the scope of that regulator is wider than many parents assume. The federal portal states that the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge regulates private education in the emirate, and that the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Each of those nouns is a real power, and together they cover most of what a parent might want to question.

That has concrete uses. If a school announces a fee change, the approving authority is identifiable and the question of whether approval was given is a fair one. If a school proposes to add or withdraw a programme, that is a regulated decision rather than a purely internal one. If the way a year group is assessed changes mid-course, the same applies. None of this makes a school's decision wrong; it means there is an accountable route beyond the head teacher's office.

It also sets the geography of your child's documents. Ras Al Khaimah schools answer to the Department of Knowledge, Dubai schools to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain schools to the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah schools to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah schools to the federal Ministry of Education. Families who have moved north from Dubai often expect a Dubai-style published inspection portal and are surprised when the route is different.

One boundary should be stated flatly. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence, registration or partnership from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, from any other emirate regulator, from the Ministry of Education, or from the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A permit to run a tutoring institute with premises is a specific instrument issued to training institutes in Dubai, and we do not hold one or operate a UAE centre. Any tutoring page implying regulator endorsement is making a claim worth checking.

03

Internal assessment: the marks decided before the examination room

A meaningful share of every Diploma subject grade is settled by work marked inside the school and moderated by the IB. The share differs by subject and level, and the school publishes it in the course outline. What matters for a student in a small Ras Al Khaimah cohort is that this is the part of the grade least affected by class size and most affected by whether anyone has explained the criteria properly.

The tasks differ sharply in character. The mathematics exploration is an individual piece of mathematics the student chose, rewarded for engagement, mathematical presentation and reflection as well as correctness. The sciences require an individual investigation with a research question, a method the student designed, and uncertainty handled honestly. Economics requires commentaries built on published articles within a strict word limit. English requires an individual oral built around a global issue. Computer science marks the documentation rather than the program.

The failure patterns are consistent and almost all of them are structural rather than intellectual. A research question too broad to answer in the word count. A method with an uncontrolled variable nobody noticed until the data was collected. A conclusion that restates the hypothesis instead of evaluating it against the evidence. A word limit exceeded, so the final section goes unread. An oral built on extracts the student liked rather than extracts that evidence the stated issue. Every one of those is visible in a first draft and fixable before submission.

That is precisely where coaching has the highest return and the tightest ethical boundary. A tutor may teach the criteria, interrogate a research question until it is answerable, point at an uncontrolled variable, ask what the data actually supports, and respond to a draft the student wrote. A tutor may not contribute content, rewrite passages, or produce any part of assessed work. The student's result depends on that boundary being kept, so we keep a written record of what was done in each session.

The Ras Al Khaimah academic year, counted backwards from a May session

Ras Al Khaimah schools sit the May session, and the useful planning exercise is to count backwards from it using this emirate's own term dates rather than a generic timeline. Every school publishes its calendar; print it and mark four things on it: internal coursework deadlines, the mock window, exam leave, and the weeks that are gone because of public holidays and Ramadan. What remains is the capacity a plan can actually use, and it is always less than a parent assumes.

The autumn term of Year 13 is where most of the internal assessment work should finish. Schools set their own internal deadlines for the Extended Essay, the explorations and the investigations, and those deadlines sit months before anything is uploaded. A student who treats the school deadline as negotiable loses the one period in the two years with genuine slack. Supervisors in a small cohort are carrying a dozen essays each, so a late draft gets less attention than an early one, which is a practical argument for finishing first rather than best.

The spring term is examination technique and content consolidation, and it is shorter than it looks. Ramadan moves the usable study evening and the school day compresses; families who plan around iftar timing keep their sessions and families who do not lose a month. Mocks usually land in January or February and are the most under-used data in the year: they produce a question-level picture of where marks are going that is worth more than the grade printed on the front.

For a comparison of how far ahead administrative deadlines sit, the school-exam boards publish their own key dates, and they are instructive even for an IB family. Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results from a November series reach students the following January: the November 2025 set landed on 22 January 2026. Cambridge, which a Ras Al Khaimah family is just as likely to meet, offers UAE candidates a June series and a November series, and the final entry for each closes months rather than weeks before the first paper. IB session and results dates are not published on this page because they must be confirmed with your school's IB coordinator or on the IB's own site, and we will not restate a date we have not verified.

Equivalency, attestation and the university routes inside this emirate

  • Start equivalency paperwork before results, not after
  • British track: five subjects at E or 3, Arabic and Islamic education excluded
  • No IB points threshold is published here because none has been sourced
  • Check which mathematics route your target university actually expects

A Diploma certificate is accepted widely, but a student applying to a UAE institution usually needs an equivalency certificate from the Ministry of Education, and the process is the family's to complete rather than a school's or a tutor's. It is worth starting the paperwork before results rather than after, because document attestation takes time and the application windows at UAE universities do not wait.

The published rules differ by curriculum and the British track is the one documented most clearly. Reporting on the ministry's clarification in July 2026 set out that British-curriculum students must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, with Arabic and Islamic education not counted among the five. That five-subject rule is worth knowing because at least one ranking competitor publishes six.

For the American track the same reporting set out English proficiency at a score of 5 in IELTS academic, 61 in TOEFL iBT or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics at a minimum 450 in SAT Math before applying. For the IB there is no points threshold published on this page, because we have not read one on the ministry's own site and we will not repeat a figure we cannot source. Ask the ministry or the emirate's attestation channel directly, and ask your school's coordinator what previous cohorts needed.

Ras Al Khaimah students also have degree options without leaving the emirate, which changes the calculus for some families. The American University of Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University and University of Stirling RAK all operate here, and each publishes its own admission requirements, including which mathematics route it expects. That last point matters more than most: a student heading for an engineering or health-sciences route should check whether Analysis and Approaches is expected before accepting an Applications and Interpretation place in the timetable.

06

Academic honesty when one supervisor covers the whole year group

A Diploma cohort of thirty gives one teacher the supervision of several Extended Essays, and the same teacher may also be the only subject specialist marking that subject's internal assessment. That is not a criticism of anybody; it is arithmetic. The consequence is that the student carries more of the responsibility for process than they would in a larger school, and the pressure to get outside help is correspondingly higher.

The line the IB draws is about authorship. Work submitted for assessment must be the student's own, properly referenced, and produced without undisclosed assistance. A tutor may teach subject content, explain a criterion, question a research question, point at a flaw in a method, ask what the evidence supports, and respond in writing to a draft the student produced. A tutor may not contribute text or content to an assessed piece, rewrite it to a standard the student could not reach, or supply material that is then presented as the student's work.

There is a commercial market in the opposite of this, including operators that sell finished internal assessments outright. Buying one is a malpractice breach that risks the student's whole result, not a shortcut. No tutor on this platform produces assessed work, and we keep a written record of what each session covered precisely so that a school asking the question gets a straight answer.

Two practical habits reduce risk sharply. First, keep the drafts: dated versions in the student's own files demonstrate authorship better than any assurance. Second, tell the school that outside support is being used and in what form. Supervisors are not hostile to tutoring; what they object to, reasonably, is work appearing that does not match a student's classroom voice. Declaring it early removes the problem entirely.

07

What Diploma support costs in dirhams, and what moves the figure here

Three of the six pages ranking for queries like this publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. Here is the market in dirhams instead, with each band attributed. These are market rates rather than an IB Gram price list: our own arrangement begins with a free trial lesson and a consultation, and what a plan costs depends on the subject, the level and the number of weeks remaining.

Diploma work sits in the upper part of the market. Specialist IB and IGCSE tutoring is advertised between roughly AED 200 and AED 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 rate table giving AED 200 to 450 and above. A qualified subject tutor online sits around AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Premium named or examiner-led tutors are advertised higher, with BartyED publishing AED 650. Monthly figures appear too: packages of around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions reaching AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist examination-year work.

Two factors move the number for a Ras Al Khaimah family specifically. Scarcity is the first: a Higher Level physics or Higher Level chemistry request in the northern emirates draws on a much thinner pool than general mathematics, and thin pools price accordingly in every format. Travel is the second, and it only applies to visiting tutors: a drive from the city to Al Hamra or Mina Al Arab is forty to sixty minutes each way, and that hour and a half is paid for somewhere inside the quoted rate.

Worth setting against the rest of the bill rather than looking at in isolation. School fees dominate, and in Dubai the Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package. Examination entries, past-paper resources and a graphical calculator are smaller but real. A Diploma plan of one weekly specialist hour in one subject across two years is a substantial commitment, and it is worth deciding deliberately which single subject gets it.

Getting started from Ras Al Khaimah, and what we will tell you straight

  • Send the report, the last marked work and the written option blocks
  • Free trial lesson taught by the subject tutor, with a written opinion after it
  • Defined blocks with a target and an end date rather than open-ended hours
  • Coverage limits stated with a date instead of concealed

The useful opening move is not a phone call but three documents: the latest report, the most recent marked paper or internal assessment feedback sheet, and the written option blocks the school issued. Those tell a subject specialist what the problem is. A conversation tells them what the problem feels like, which is a different and less reliable thing. Send them and name the subject and level you are worried about.

The trial lesson is taught by the person who would teach the course and it is a lesson, not a sales call. It is free, no card is required, and afterwards you get a written note: what the tutor thinks is actually wrong, what a defined block would target, roughly how many sessions, and whether a tutor is the right purchase at all. Sometimes it is not. A Year 13 student three weeks from exam leave with four subjects in trouble needs triage and sleep more than a new weekly commitment, and we would rather say so.

Availability in the northern emirates is not unlimited and we state limits rather than hide them. A Higher Level science at short notice in a busy term is the request that most often cannot be filled immediately. Where that happens you get a date, an honest alternative, or a recommendation to look elsewhere. No competitor in the researched set discloses a coverage limit, and concealing one costs a family a term they cannot recover.

Everything then runs on Gulf Standard Time with a fixed weekly slot, a named tutor and a written note after each session. If the slot stops working because the school day changed or an activity commitment moved, it gets changed rather than missed. If the criterion levels or paper marks are not moving after a defined block, the review says so as a fact, and changing tutor or stopping are both normal outcomes rather than failures.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Ras Al Khaimah

Where a Diploma student lives in Ras Al Khaimah decides how much of the evening survives the commute, and a Year 13 evening has very little slack in it. These are the parts of the emirate we take Diploma enquiries from.

Al Hamra and Al Hamra Village

Closest to the emirate's continuum provision. Short school run, but Diploma students here often stay on campus for core activity commitments until 16:30, so the usable slot is 17:30 or later on most weekdays.

Mina Al Arab and Hayat Island

Coastal residential development where the bus adds thirty to forty minutes at the far end. Year 13 students here reliably hold an 18:00 or 18:30 slot and reliably lose a 16:30 one by half-term.

Al Nakheel

The city side, closest to the Indian and British campuses. Diploma students transferring in from an IGCSE stream often live here, and their first-term need is internal assessment technique rather than content.

Al Dhait North and South

Established inland districts with several tuition centres. Families here have usually priced a local group class first and want to know why a Higher Level subject cannot be taught that way.

Al Marjan Island

Newer residential stock with longer internal drives and parents frequently commuting back from Dubai. A session that needs no adult present to receive a visitor is a practical advantage rather than a preference here.

Khuzam and Al Uraibi

Central districts with the shortest commutes in the emirate. The constraint is a quiet room rather than travel, which makes a later slot after younger siblings are settled the one that actually holds.

Digdaga and the inland belt

Semi-rural areas south-east of the city with no Diploma campus nearby. Students travel in and arrive home late, so weekday work is short and weekend mornings carry the heavier sessions.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ras Al Khaimah

Al Hamra and the southern coast

Where the emirate's IB continuum provision sits, and therefore where almost every Diploma enquiry from Ras Al Khaimah originates. A small year group means one teaching set per Higher Level subject in most cases, and a staffing change is felt immediately.

  • RAK Academy - International School Al Hamra
  • RAK Academy - British School Al Hamra
  • RAK Academy - British School Khuzam
  • RAK English Speaking School

The city-side campuses

Mostly Indian and British curriculum schools running IGCSE and A-Level or CBSE routes. Diploma enquiries from these families are usually about transferring in at sixteen, where the gap is internal assessment and extended writing rather than content.

  • The Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Our Own English High School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Scholars Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Little Flower English School Ras Al Khaimah

Campuses and universities Ras Al Khaimah families also weigh

Some households drive south for a subject combination the emirate cannot timetable, and many Diploma graduates stay inside the emirate for a degree. The institutions here are named as context for route planning, not as any kind of relationship.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • American University of Ras Al Khaimah
  • RAK Medical and Health Sciences University
  • University of Stirling RAK

Schools and universities are named as context for the Ras Al Khaimah education picture; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied or claimed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the subject, the level and the gap

Say which subject and level is in trouble and what the school has already said about it. A Standard Level entry where a university route expects Higher Level is a different job from a Higher Level student losing marks on paper technique, and the two need different tutors. Naming it precisely saves a wasted first session.

  2. 02

    Send the three documents

Latest report, most recent marked paper or internal assessment feedback sheet, and the written option blocks. A specialist reads more from those in ten minutes than from any call. If an internal assessment draft exists, send that too, along with the supervisor's comments on it.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the subject specialist

Taught by the tutor who would take the course, with no card required and no condition attached. You receive a written opinion afterwards covering the likely cause, what a block would target, how many sessions and whether outside support is warranted at all for this student in this term.

  4. 04

Fix a slot the Ras Al Khaimah evening can hold

Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab households usually need 17:30 or later once activity commitments and the bus are accounted for; central districts can hold earlier. Gulf Standard Time is the reference, Ramadan timings are planned for in advance rather than improvised, and the slot moves rather than lapses.

  5. 05

    Review on evidence, in writing

Every few sessions the tutor writes a note against the specific components being targeted, with the student's own marked work attached. If marks are not moving, that is reported plainly. Switching tutor, narrowing to one subject or stopping are all normal conclusions from a review rather than signs of failure.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Anchored to this emirate, not to Dubai

The regulator here is the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, the Diploma cohorts are small, and the option blocks are tight. Every section of this page is written from those facts rather than from generic UAE copy, because a plan built on a Dubai timeline misses the weeks this emirate actually has.

Matched on subject and level

Removing travel from the match is what makes a Higher Level chemistry or physics specialist reachable from the northern emirates. A request is matched against everyone qualified to teach that subject at that level rather than against the handful who could drive to Al Hamra by six o'clock.

Internal assessment handled properly

A large share of each Diploma grade is settled before the examination room. Sessions on an exploration, investigation, commentary or essay coach method and respond to the student's own drafts, and the tutor keeps a written record of what was done so the school can be told exactly what happened.

Dates we have not verified are not published

Cambridge and Pearson dates on this page are taken from the boards' own published key-dates documents and attributed. IB session and results dates are not stated, because they must be confirmed with your school's coordinator or the IB directly, and restating an unverified date across many pages is how errors scale.

No regulator, board or school claims

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, any other emirate regulator, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, operates no UAE office or centre, and names schools and universities only as context for the local picture.

Rates in dirhams, with sources

Market bands are published here with the competitor or rate table each figure comes from, and with the date of the source. Our own plan price is settled after the free trial lesson, because subject, level and weeks remaining change it enough that a single advertised number would be misleading.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ras Al Khaimah: your questions answered

Why does a small Diploma cohort in Ras Al Khaimah limit my child's subject choices?+

Because each subject runs once. A Diploma student takes one subject from each of six groups, three at Higher Level, and on a large campus a popular subject appears in two or three timetable blocks so most combinations fit. A cohort in the tens supports one teaching set per subject, so any two subjects sharing a block become mutually exclusive. Ask the school for the written option blocks and for which degree routes the resulting combination closes. Then decide whether to argue for a small set against a study period or to cover the gap deliberately across the year.

Which authority regulates my child's school in Ras Al Khaimah, and what can it actually decide?+

The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge. The federal portal states that it regulates private education in the emirate, and that the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That covers fee changes, programme additions and changes to how a year group is assessed, so there is an accountable route beyond the school office. Dubai schools answer to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain schools to the Department of Education and Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah schools to the federal Ministry of Education.

My child was put in Standard Level physics but needs Higher Level for engineering. What now?+

Name the gap in content terms and decide early. Ask the school in writing whether a Higher Level set can run against a study period, because small schools sometimes can. Ask each target university what it actually requires, since some accept a Standard Level subject with a strong overall profile. If the Standard Level place stands and the route still matters, the additional Higher Level content has to be covered deliberately across a year rather than crammed in a term. That is one of the commonest pieces of work we take on from this emirate, and it needs a specialist in the subject.

How much of a Diploma grade is decided before the examinations?+

A meaningful share in every subject, and the exact proportion is published in your school's course outline. The mathematics exploration, the sciences investigation, economics commentaries, the English individual oral and the computer science solution with documentation are all marked in school and moderated by the IB. For a student in a small cohort this is the part of the grade least affected by class size and most affected by whether the criteria were explained. It is also where coaching has the highest return, because the usual failures are structural and visible in a first draft.

Can a tutor work on my child's Extended Essay without crossing the IB's honesty rules?+

Within a boundary that has to be kept precisely. A tutor may teach subject content, explain how the criteria are applied, interrogate a research question until it is answerable in four thousand words, point out a missing method section, ask what the evidence supports, and respond in writing to a draft the student has written. A tutor may not supply text or content, rewrite passages to a standard the student could not reach, or produce any part of the essay. Keep dated drafts in the student's own files and tell the supervisor outside support is being used. Declaring it early removes the problem.

Do you publish the IB examination and results dates for the May session?+

No, and the reason is specific. The IB's site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and restating an unverified date across many pages is how a single error becomes hundreds. Confirm every IB date with your school's coordinator or on the IB's own pages. Cambridge and Pearson dates on this page are different: they come from the boards' own published key-dates documents and are attributed, which is why the Pearson International GCSE November 2026 window appears here and an IB window does not. The Cambridge series we name are June and November, the two a UAE centre offers, rather than the February and March sitting Cambridge runs for India.

When should the internal assessment work actually be finished?+

Against the school's internal deadlines, which sit months before anything is uploaded, and ideally earlier than those. In a small Ras Al Khaimah cohort one supervisor may be carrying a dozen Extended Essays alongside marking a subject's internal assessment, so an early draft gets real attention and a late one gets less. The autumn term of Year 13 is where this work should land. Treating a school deadline as negotiable spends the only period in the two years with genuine slack, and spring term has none to lend.

Does Ramadan change how a Diploma student should plan revision?+

Materially, and planning for it beats improvising. The school day compresses and the usable evening moves, so families who shift sessions to a post-iftar slot in advance keep their weekly rhythm and families who do not lose a month of it. Shorter and more frequent works better than long sessions in these weeks. Mark the Ramadan period on the school calendar alongside the mock window, exam leave and public holidays before building a plan, because what remains after those four is the capacity the plan can actually use.

What does a Ras Al Khaimah family pay for Diploma tutoring?+

Market rates rather than ours: specialist IB and IGCSE tutoring is advertised at roughly AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 rate table giving 200 to 450 and above. A qualified subject tutor online sits around AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Premium named tutors go higher, with BartyED publishing AED 650. Scarcity moves the figure here more than anywhere: a Higher Level science request in the northern emirates draws on a thin pool. We quote after a free trial lesson.

Does my child need a Ministry of Education equivalency certificate for a UAE university?+

Usually yes, and it is the family's process to complete rather than a school's or a tutor's. Start before results, because attestation takes time and university windows do not wait. The British-curriculum rules were clarified in July 2026 reporting: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. No IB points figure is published here because we have not read one on the ministry's own site. Ask the ministry directly.

Can my child study for the Diploma at a university inside Ras Al Khaimah afterwards?+

Degree options exist within the emirate, which changes the planning for some families. The American University of Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University and University of Stirling RAK operate here, and each publishes its own admission requirements. The detail worth checking early is mathematics: engineering and health-science routes frequently expect Analysis and Approaches rather than Applications and Interpretation, and that decision is made at the start of Year 12. We name these institutions as context for route planning, with no relationship of any kind implied.

Will a tutor travel to our villa in Al Hamra or Al Marjan Island?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Diploma lessons for Ras Al Khaimah families run one-to-one over live video, with a shared screen and a document both sides can write on. The reason is availability rather than cost. The number of people qualified to teach Higher Level chemistry or physics who are also willing to drive to the southern coast by six o'clock on a weekday is very small, and matching on subject instead of distance is what makes a specialist reachable here.

Our teacher left mid-year and the set has a cover teacher. Is that a tutoring problem?+

It is a continuity problem, and tutoring addresses part of it. Ask the school two questions in writing: who now marks and moderates the internal assessment for that subject, and what the plan is until the set is staffed. Those answers determine the real risk, which is usually the internally assessed component rather than the taught content. Where the gap is genuine, a subject specialist focused on the internal assessment and on the components the cover teacher is least able to mark is the highest-value hour available. A whole parallel course is rarely necessary.

Is it worth paying for support in more than one Diploma subject at once?+

Rarely, and the arithmetic usually settles it. A Diploma student in this emirate commutes, carries three Higher Levels plus the core, and has a finite number of usable evenings. Two weekly tutored subjects plus homework plus internal assessment work tends to produce worse results than one, because the hours between sessions are where learning happens and they get squeezed first. Pick the subject where a grade is both most at risk and most load-bearing for the university route, support that one properly, and revisit after a defined block.

What happens if you cannot find a tutor for the subject we need?+

You get told, with a date. Higher Level sciences at short notice in a busy term are the requests that most often cannot be filled immediately in the northern emirates. In that case we will either name when a matched specialist becomes available, offer a tutor for an adjacent component where that is honestly useful, or say the request cannot be served well and suggest you look locally. No competitor in the researched set publishes a coverage limit at all, and hiding one costs a family a term that cannot be recovered.

Start with the option blocks and the last marked piece of work

A Diploma problem in Ras Al Khaimah is usually a timetable problem wearing a subject's clothes. Before buying any hours, get the written option blocks, find out who marks and moderates the internal assessment in the subject that worries you, and read the last marked paper rather than the report comment. If after that a specific subject at a specific level still needs a specialist, send those documents and take the free trial lesson with the tutor who would teach the course. You will get a written opinion on the cause, a defined block with an end date, and an honest answer if another weekly hour is not what will move the grade.
