IB Tuition near me in Dubai

A search for "IB tuition near me" in Dubai returns four different products wearing the same word: a tuition centre with a group of six, a freelance tutor advertising locally, an international marketplace, and a one-to-one teaching service. They cost different amounts, need different permissions, and suit different subjects. This page separates them, says which Diploma components tolerate a group and which do not, and states plainly that we teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • One student per session, never a group of six
  • Matched by Diploma component, not by subject group
  • Sessions live over video on Gulf Standard Time evenings
  • Free trial lesson with a written diagnosis, no card details

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Four different things are called IB tuition in Dubai

The phrase hides more than it reveals. A parent searching for IB tuition near me in Dubai is shown tuition centres in Al Quoz and Al Barsha, freelance tutors advertising by community, international marketplaces with no UAE presence, and one-to-one teaching services. These are not variations on one product. They differ in group size, in what permission they need to operate, in whether anybody marks work against a published scheme, and in cost by a factor of ten.

Group size is the variable that changes the most and is discussed the least. A tuition centre running an IB Mathematics group of six is a small class, and a small class is a perfectly reasonable thing to buy for syllabus coverage. It is not a diagnostic instrument. In a group of six nobody watches one student's working line by line, which is where the information about why marks are being lost actually lives. For some Diploma components that matters enormously and for others it hardly matters at all.

The permissions differ too, and the distinction is worth knowing before a cheque is written. An individual tutor in the UAE needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. A tuition operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal: it needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry.

The geography is misleading as well. Dubai's tuition premises cluster where commercial rent and footfall make sense — Al Quoz, Al Barsha, Karama, Oud Metha, parts of Deira — and that is not where the Diploma cohorts are largest. A family in Nad Al Sheba or the Sustainable City searching locally will be shown centres twenty minutes away whose main business is a different curriculum entirely, and whose IB group may have three students in it.

So this page is organised around a different question: what does your child's specific component need. A Theory of Knowledge essay needs an hour of argument with one person. An Economics evaluation paragraph needs somebody reading the student's own sentences. Arabic script practice genuinely benefits from a pair. Working out which of those you have is worth more than comparing hourly rates across four products that are not alike.

On delivery, the plain version. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing and a shared annotation surface. We do not run premises in Dubai and we do not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. There is no group option, and there is no centre to drive to.

At a glance

  • One student, one specialist, one named component per session
  • Marking against the published scheme, done between sessions
  • No group teaching, no premises, no travel in either direction
  • A written session note within 24 hours of each lesson
  • Honest availability: a date rather than a substitute if nobody is free
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Tuition is sold at every stage of the IB continuum, but what it should be doing changes completely between them. The notes below say what each programme is actually examined on, which determines whether a group can help at all.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Externally examined papers plus internally assessed work worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of each subject grade. The externally examined half responds reasonably to group teaching for coverage; the internally assessed half does not, because it is one student's own piece of work marked against criteria and nobody else's draft is relevant to it.

Dubai Diploma cohorts sit the May session. The tuition centres in the emirate tend to advertise Diploma group classes in the final two terms, which is the point at which coverage is least useful and diagnosis is most useful. A family buying group tuition in DP2 is often buying a second pass through content the student has already seen.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Marked on criteria A to D rather than by percentage, and that is the single thing most tuition at this stage ignores. A group class teaching Year 9 mathematics content is teaching the wrong thing: the student usually knows the content and does not know what a 7-8 band descriptor is asking for. That translation needs somebody looking at their own work.

Dubai schools running MYP into the Diploma set the personal project in Year 11, and it is the student's own work, so no group class can touch it. What a tutor can do is process coaching and criterion feedback. The most common useful MYP brief in the emirate is mathematics in the two terms before DP1 begins.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

No external examinations, no percentages, continuous teacher assessment. Tuition at this stage is almost never about the IB and almost always about reading fluency, number sense or English as an additional language. Small groups work well for all three, which makes primary the one stage where a local centre is often the sensible answer.

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies in every Dubai private school, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils and combined classes explicitly prohibited. Any centre offering an Arabic class should be able to say which of the two streams it is teaching, and the use of content other than the Ministry's approved material is not permitted without prior permission.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Diploma courses alongside a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. The Diploma courses are examined identically to the full Diploma, so tuition for those is a familiar brief. The career-related units are assessed by the provider, and no general tuition centre will know their criteria.

Very few Dubai schools license the Career-related Programme, so a local search returns nothing specific to it and group classes do not exist at any sensible size. The practical approach is one-to-one on the Diploma courses and a conversation with the school's coordinator about what the reflective project criteria require.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The useful question is not which subjects we cover but which ones tolerate a group. Below, by subject, whether a class of six can genuinely help and what has to happen one-to-one regardless of how the tuition is bought.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Content coverage survives a group; diagnosis does not. The marks here are lost in the working, and in a class of six nobody reads six students' working. Calculus and proof at Higher Level need one-to-one. Topic revision at Standard Level is reasonable in a pair.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistical tests can be taught to a group. The written conclusion that must follow a test cannot, because it is a writing problem dressed as a maths problem and each student writes differently. Documented calculator work also needs watching individually.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Equilibrium and energetics teach well to a small group. Paper 3 data handling and the internal investigation do not: both are about responding to unfamiliar material, which is individual by definition. Mechanism work sits in between and benefits from a pair.

Physics

HL and SL

Numerical topics are group-friendly. The written-explanation questions that ask for a reason rather than a value are the opposite, because the fix is to each student's own prose. Dubai cohorts are typically strong on the first and thin on the second.

Biology

HL and SL

Recall-heavy topics are efficient in a group. Data-based questions on unfamiliar contexts are not, since the whole skill is reading a graph nobody has seen before. A group class usually ends up teaching content the student already had.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams and definitions are genuinely better in a group, where students can challenge each other's curves. Evaluation paragraphs are strictly one-to-one: the mark is in the judgement a particular student reaches, and nobody else's version helps them write it.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study discussion is one of the few places where a group adds something real, because hearing another reading of the stimulus is useful. Quantitative questions and the internal assessment are individual work and should be bought as such.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Technique vocabulary teaches well to a group. Paper 1 unseen analysis does not, because the whole assessment is one student's response to a text in front of them. The Individual Oral is individual in name and in practice.

English B

HL and SL

Text-type conventions suit a small group, and the oral practice benefits from more than one voice in the room. This is the subject where a pair or a trio is most defensible across the whole Diploma.

History

HL and SL

Building a case-study bank of named dates, figures and actors works in a group and is faster there. Source analysis in Paper 1 needs one-to-one, because the skill is a particular student's reading of a particular extract under time.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Discussion genuinely improves with more than two people, which is why schools teach it as a class. The essay does not: it is one student's argument, and the only useful help is criterion feedback on their own draft. Never a group product.

Arabic

First language and additional language

Script formation and vocabulary retention respond well to a pair or small group, with repetition doing the work. KHDA sets the content and requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils, so ask any provider which stream they are actually teaching.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways we structure one-to-one tuition. None of them is a group, and the choice between them is made by what the next assessment is rather than by how much coverage sounds reassuring.

Component block

Four to six sessions aimed at one named thing: Paper 3 data handling, source analysis in History Paper 1, documented calculator work, or the structure of a Theory of Knowledge exhibition. It has a start date, an end date and a marked piece of work at each end so the block can be judged rather than renewed by default.

  • One component, four to six sessions, a stated endpoint
  • Baseline and closing scripts both marked against the scheme
  • No automatic rollover into an open-ended arrangement
  • Priced and agreed as a block before it starts

Standing weekly subject slot

A fixed 60-minute session each week on one subject at one level, across a term. Suits a Higher Level subject where the problem is cumulative rather than a single component, and suits a DP1 student who is working hard without the result moving. Every session produces a written note and a topic checklist entry.

  • Same hour weekly, one subject, one specialist
  • Topic checklist updated every third or fourth session
  • Week-six review against the baseline script
  • Marking done between sessions, not inside the hour

Coursework supervision to the student's own draft stages

Sessions tied to internal assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge deadlines, working to the stages the school has set. Feedback is written by criterion and delivered separately from the document, so the draft stays entirely the student's work and the record stands up if a coordinator asks.

  • One session per agreed draft stage, not open-ended
  • Feedback by criterion letter, on a separate sheet
  • Dated drafts remain in the student's own file
  • No writing, editing or proofreading to completion

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

The four products a Dubai search calls IB tuition

Sorting the results page by what each provider actually is takes about five minutes and saves a term. A tuition centre sells a seat in a class, usually of three to eight students, on a fixed timetable, at premises you drive to. A freelance tutor sells an hour of their own time, often travelling. An international marketplace sells access to a list and takes a cut. A one-to-one teaching service sells a matched specialist and the marking that goes with them.

Each is a reasonable purchase for a different problem. For syllabus coverage after a term of disrupted teaching, a centre class is efficient and cheap per hour. For a student who needs an adult present to start work at all, a freelance visit is the service. For a rare Language B option, a marketplace may be the only place anyone exists. For a Higher Level component where marks are being lost for reasons nobody has identified, one-to-one is the only one of the four that can find out why.

The question that separates them fastest is: who reads my child's working. In a group of six, nobody does, because there is not time. On a marketplace, whoever you picked, to a standard you cannot see in advance. With a travelling freelancer, usually during the lesson, which costs you ten minutes of the hour. With a one-to-one service that marks between sessions, before the lesson, which is the only arrangement where the hour starts with a diagnosis already in hand.

The second question is what happens when it is not working. A centre will offer a different class. A marketplace will offer a different name and the same process. A good one-to-one service will change the specialist on request without requiring a reason, and should say so before you book rather than after you complain.

The table sets the four side by side with the group size and the honest use case for each, so you can place the listings a local search returns before ringing any of them.

A centre's permit and a tutor's permit are different documents

Parents often ask whether a provider is licensed, which is a good question with two different answers depending on what the provider is. The two permissions are separate instruments issued by separate authorities for separate activities, and a provider holding one does not hold the other.

For an individual, the instrument is the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists a two-working-day completion time and is the official route. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you by anyone.

For a business with premises and staff in Dubai, the instrument is a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. That process begins with initial approval, allows a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and requires renewal to be requested at least 30 days before expiry. It is a specific permission issued to a specific address. A provider without premises in Dubai does not hold it and should not imply that it does.

That second point applies to us, so it is worth saying directly. IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, no ADEK or SPEA registration, no Ministry of Education licence, and no approval, accreditation or partnership from the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We are an independent tutor-matching platform. Any provider in this market describing its tutors as approved by a regulator is making a claim worth asking to see in document form.

What a parent can reasonably verify is in the table. All of it is a question you can ask by email and keep the answer to, which is the practical point: a provider comfortable answering in writing is telling you something, and so is one that is not.

03

Where the centres are, and where the Diploma students are

These two maps do not overlap, and that single fact explains most of the frustration families report with local tuition searches in Dubai. Tuition premises need affordable floorspace and passing trade, which puts them in Al Quoz, Al Barsha, Karama, Oud Metha, Bur Dubai and parts of Deira. IB continuum schools have been built where new family housing has been built, which puts their cohorts in Nad Al Sheba, Meydan, the Sustainable City, Dubai Investments Park, Mirdif and Al Jaddaf.

A family in the Sustainable City searching for IB tuition near me gets results from a belt twenty-five minutes away in evening traffic. That round trip is fifty minutes of a usable evening that is only about 150 minutes long, before any teaching happens. For a 60-minute group class, the family is spending nearly two hours of the student's evening to buy a sixth of a teacher's attention.

Al Barsha is the exception worth naming, because it is the one part of Dubai where the centre belt and the densest IB school cluster genuinely coincide. A local search from Al Barsha or Barsha Heights returns centres that actually run IB groups with enough students in them to be classes rather than small huddles. Everywhere else in the emirate, the IB label on a local centre is likely to sit on a group of two or three.

Group size is worth asking about explicitly and in writing. A class of six teaching Standard Level Economics diagrams is a class. A class of two is a very expensive form of one-to-one with a third of the attention, and families are rarely told the number before they arrive. The honest question is: how many students will be in the room on the evening we come, in this subject, at this level.

None of this argues that centres are bad. It argues that proximity is a poor way to choose one, because the nearest centre's main business is probably a different curriculum, and the distance you are being asked to drive is coming out of the only part of the day in which your child can still learn anything.

04

Group of six, group of two, one-to-one: what each does to a subject

Attention divides. That is not a criticism of group teaching, it is arithmetic, and it has different consequences depending on what the hour is supposed to achieve. For content coverage, division costs little: one explanation of equilibrium serves six students as well as one. For diagnosis, division is fatal, because the information lives in each student's own working and nobody can read six sets of working in sixty minutes.

The practical rule that follows is about the stage of the problem rather than the subject. If the student has not met the content, a group is efficient. If the student has met the content, can explain it, and is still losing marks, the problem is in their execution and only individual attention will locate it. Most Dubai families buying tuition in DP2 are in the second situation and buying the first product.

There is a social dimension that matters more than it sounds. A student who will attempt a hard question with one adult will not attempt it in front of five classmates from a nearby school, and the question they avoid is the one carrying the diagnosis. In a city as socially interconnected as Dubai's school market, that is not a trivial consideration for a 17-year-old.

Where a group genuinely wins is in the handful of places where another student's answer is useful to hear: Theory of Knowledge discussion, Business Management case readings, Language B oral practice, Economics diagram challenges, Arabic repetition drills. That is a real list and it is shorter than the one centres advertise.

The table below places group sizes against what a Diploma subject actually needs, so the conversation with a centre can be about the specific component rather than about the subject name on the timetable.

Subject by subject: what the tuition should be fixing

Tuition sold by the subject tends to teach the subject. Tuition sold by the component fixes the thing that is costing marks. The difference shows up in the first invoice: eight hours of Chemistry, or four hours of Paper 3 data handling and the internal investigation method. The second is cheaper and more likely to move a grade, and it requires somebody to have read a marked script first.

The patterns in the table are the ones that repeat across Dubai cohorts. Two of them deserve pulling out. In the sciences, students are usually competent numerically and thin on written explanation, so the remedy is a writing intervention inside a science subject — which a group class covering content will never deliver. In the humanities, the constraint is nearly always named detail rather than argument, so building a case-study bank beats more essay practice.

The session counts are rough and they are deliberately small. Most component problems are four to six sessions of work, not a two-year subscription. A provider quoting an open-ended weekly commitment for a single identified component is selling continuity rather than a fix, and a family should ask what the endpoint looks like and how it will be measured.

The way to use the table is backwards. Find the component your child's last marked paper shows the loss in, read across to the session count, and compare that against what you have been quoted. If the quote is three times the number, ask what the extra sessions are for.

If the loss is not identifiable from the papers you have, that is the first thing tuition should buy: one timed question, marked against the published scheme, with a written diagnosis. In our process that happens in the free trial lesson, before anybody has paid for anything.

What a monthly tuition package in Dubai actually contains

Packages are how most tuition in this market is sold, and they are the hardest thing to compare because the unit is a month rather than an hour. Figures published in this market, read in October 2026, cluster around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those are other providers' published prices, not ours, and they are not the same product.

Convert everything to minutes and to notes before comparing. Eight 60-minute sessions give weekly contact and eight separate written records; four two-hour visits give the same total minutes with half the contact points and a chunk of each visit spent arriving and settling. For a student who needs steady pressure, the first is better. For one with a single large piece of coursework, the second may be.

Then ask what is inside the number. Marking and written feedback outside the session is the line that most changes the real value per hour, and it is rarely stated. So is whether unused sessions roll over, what notice is needed to cancel, whether the rate changes closer to the May session, and whether VAT is included. Get those four answers in writing before the first payment, because all four become arguments in month three otherwise.

Bestimate's own monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions in Dubai give a wider frame: roughly AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those bands are a useful sanity check against any single package price you are quoted.

Our own model is deliberately simpler to compare: a free trial lesson with no card details, then sessions agreed by the week or as a defined component block, with marking between lessons and a written note after each one. What a plan costs depends on subject, level and how many sessions it actually needs, which is a conversation rather than a shelf price.

Private candidates, exam entry, and what nobody can do for you

Some families arrive at tuition because of an entry problem rather than a teaching problem: a subject the school does not offer, a resit, or a student outside school for a term. Entry rules are set by the boards and administered through recognised centres, not by tutors, and this is an area where confident misinformation is common.

Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge is explicit that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE exams run in May/June and November each year, with provisional timetables published ahead of each series.

The worked example of why deadlines sit so far ahead is the Cambridge June series, the main window for a UAE candidate: entries close in the spring, well before the first paper, and forecast grades are collected after that, so a private candidate who starts asking about entry in April has usually already missed June and is in fact choosing the November series. November is both a sitting in its own right and the resit route, which is why the real decision a family makes early in the year is which of those two windows they are entering, not whether they can still join the nearest one. The closing date for a given series is printed on the centre's statement of entry, and it is revised, so take it from there rather than from any page restating it. For IB dates, confirm everything with your school's Diploma coordinator or on ibo.org directly, because no IB session or results date in this project has been verified from the IB itself.

What a tutoring provider can do is teach and advise. What it cannot do is enter your child for an examination, choose your zone's timetable, obtain a certificate, or perform Ministry of Education equivalency and attestation. Those sit with recognised examination centres and with the authorities, and any provider presenting them as a service it performs on your behalf is overstating what it can deliver.

Nor should anyone imply that tuition is required for equivalency, admission or progression. It is not. Equivalency is a documentary process run by the Ministry, and the right route is the official channel rather than a tutoring company's assistance package.

08

Why our tuition runs over live video rather than at a Dubai centre

Said plainly: there is no IB Gram centre in Dubai to attend, and we do not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE — visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Every session is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing and a shared annotation surface so a scanned past paper can be marked up by tutor and student together.

The first reason is the one this whole page has been building towards. A centre's economics require a group, and a group cannot do diagnosis. Removing the premises removes the pressure to fill a room, which is what makes one student per session affordable at all. Nobody is being asked to subsidise floorspace in Al Quoz.

The second is the match. Teaching over video means a Higher Level Chemistry student in Mirdif is matched to a Higher Level Chemistry specialist rather than to whichever subject the nearest centre happens to have a teacher for. For the tight combinations — Higher Level sciences in the early-evening Gulf window, Higher Level Computer Science, less common Language B options — that is the difference between a specialist and a substitute.

The third is the evening. A round trip to a centre in Dubai's 5pm traffic is routinely forty to fifty minutes out of a usable window of about 150. A video session starts when your child sits down, which means a Higher Level subject can be taught while they are still able to learn rather than after two car journeys.

The honest limitation is physical work. Bench practicals and arts exhibitions happen at school and belong to the school, and no tuition format changes that. What a video session does with those components is the design, the data treatment and the write-up against the published criteria, which is where most of their marks sit anyway.

09

The first session: diagnose before teaching anything

A first tuition session that begins by teaching has skipped the only step that was genuinely scarce. Content is available everywhere, including free. What is not available is somebody reading your child's own working and saying, specifically, which four marks went where and why. That is what a first session should produce, and it is what makes everything after it cheaper.

Ours works to a fixed shape. The student attempts one timed question or paper section, unassisted, while the tutor watches the working rather than waiting for the answer. The tutor then marks it against the published scheme and talks through where the marks sat. You receive a written note naming the secure topics, the gaps, the error categories and what the first three sessions would target.

The note is yours whether or not you continue, and no card details are taken for the trial. That is deliberate: a trial lesson whose only output is a good impression of the tutor's manner has told you about the tutor and nothing about your child. Two written diagnoses from two providers, set side by side, make the decision for you in about five minutes.

Bring three documents if you can. The last marked script, including the teacher's comments. The school's assessment calendar, with the internal deadlines on it. And the subject guide's criterion list if the problem involves coursework. Dubai schools hold all three, and a tutor working to the wrong dates is useful in the wrong month.

If, after the diagnosis, the honest answer is that no specialist is free in the subject and level you need, we will say so and give a date rather than putting a Higher Level student with a generalist. That answer is worse than yes and much better than six weeks of the wrong person.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

The notes below record where Dubai's tuition premises actually sit and what that means for a family searching locally — including the districts where a local result is almost certainly the wrong curriculum.

Al Quoz and Al Khail

One of the emirate's two main tuition-centre belts, built around warehouse and light-industrial units with cheap floorspace. Most of the IB-labelled groups here are small, and the centres' core business is other curricula.

Al Barsha and Barsha Heights

The other centre belt, and the one closest to the city's densest IB school cluster. A local search from here returns the most genuinely IB-relevant centres in Dubai, which is not true of anywhere else in the emirate.

Karama and Oud Metha

A long-established tuition district serving a largely Indian-curriculum school population. IB group classes advertised here are usually small, and the subject range narrows sharply above Standard Level.

Bur Dubai and Al Mankhool

Dense, walkable and full of small education businesses, which makes it the easiest place in the city to visit three centres in an afternoon. Diploma-specific provision is thin relative to the number of signs.

Deira and Al Rigga

High footfall and low rents, so plenty of listings. The school population nearby is dominated by other curricula, so an IB family searching here is usually matched to a generalist rather than a Diploma specialist.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Two established IB continuum schools and almost no tuition premises, which is the clearest example in Dubai of supply and need sitting in different postcodes. Families here search locally and find nothing relevant.

The Sustainable City and Dubai Investments Park

Continuum IB schools on the city's southern edge with no local centre belt at all. The nearest premises are a twenty-five minute drive in evening traffic, which is most of a usable evening for a round trip.

Mirdif and Al Mizhar

A full IB continuum school plus large schools on other curricula, and a scattering of small local centres. Early school returns here make a 4pm one-to-one slot realistic, which a centre's fixed class timetable rarely offers.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Oud Metha, Karama and Bur Dubai

A dense school district where most pupils are on Indian or British curricula and the IB cohort is comparatively small. Students we support here are often the only Diploma candidate on their street, which is exactly the case where a local group class has nobody to group them with.

  • The Indian High School Dubai
  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • St Mary's Catholic High School
  • Our Own English High School
  • New Indian Model School Dubai

Al Quoz, Al Khail and Al Safa

Schools sitting beside the emirate's largest tuition-centre belt, which means families here have the most local options and the least clarity about what each one is. The useful question in this cluster is always group size and who marks the work.

  • GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail
  • The Millennium School Dubai
  • Credence High School
  • Jumeirah College
  • Safa British School

Al Barsha, Barsha Heights and The Greens

The closest thing Dubai has to a district where local tuition and IB provision overlap. Students we support in this cluster ask most often for Higher Level sciences, and the honest answer is frequently that the component they need help with cannot be taught in a group at all.

  • American School of Dubai
  • Bloom World Academy
  • Dubai National School Al Barsha
  • Regent International School
  • Emirates International School Meadows

Schools are named only as context for Dubai's schooling market; IB Gram claims no affiliation with, endorsement from or relationship to any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the component, not the subject

"Chemistry" is eight hours of tuition. "Paper 3 data handling and the investigation method" is four. Tell us the subject, the level and the component the last marked paper shows the loss in, and the plan gets smaller and more measurable before anybody quotes you anything.

  2. 02

Send the marked script and the school calendar

One marked page lets the specialist arrive with a hypothesis. The school's assessment calendar makes sure the work happens in the right month, because Dubai schools set their own internal coursework deadlines and mock windows and they do not all coincide.

  3. 03

    Ask us the group-size question

There is only one answer here and it is one: one student per session, every session. If a group would genuinely serve you better for the component you have named, we will say so, and for a few things — Theory of Knowledge discussion, language oral practice, Arabic drilling — it honestly might.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, with a written diagnosis

Sixty minutes with the matched specialist, no charge and no card details. One timed question attempted unassisted, marked against the published scheme, and a written note naming the secure topics, the gaps and what the first three sessions would do. Yours whether you continue or not.

  5. 05

Agree a block or a slot, with an endpoint

Either a component block with a fixed number of sessions and an end date, or a standing weekly slot with a week-six review written into the arrangement. Both are priced before they start, and both produce a session note within 24 hours of each lesson.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

One student per session, always

No groups of six, no groups of two described as personal attention. The information about why marks are being lost lives in one student's working, and reading it is the service. For the few components where another voice genuinely helps, we will tell you so.

Sold by component, not by subject

A named component, a rough session count and an endpoint, agreed before the first payment. Most identified component problems are four to six sessions of work rather than an open-ended weekly commitment, and we would rather say that than sell continuity.

No premises, so no room to fill

A centre's economics require a group because floorspace has to be paid for. Teaching over video removes that pressure, which is what makes one-to-one affordable, and it removes a forty-minute round trip from an evening that only has about 150 usable minutes in it.

Straight about permissions

IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, no ADEK or SPEA registration and no approval from the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. Individual tutors need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and you can ask us about permit status and get the answer in writing.

Coursework help that stays the student's own

Feedback by criterion letter, on a separate sheet, with the student's dated drafts untouched. We do not write, complete, edit or proofread internal assessments, Extended Essays or Theory of Knowledge essays at any price, and the record is built to show it.

Availability stated before you book

Higher Level sciences in the early-evening Gulf window are genuinely tight. If nobody suitable is free, you get a date rather than a substitute, plus a note on what is worth working on unsupervised in the meantime.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Is IB tuition near me in Dubai usually a centre or a private tutor?+

A local search returns both, plus marketplaces with no UAE presence. Centres sell a seat in a class of roughly three to eight on a fixed timetable at premises you drive to; private tutors sell an hour of their own time, often travelling. They are different products with different permissions and a tenfold spread in cost. The question that separates them quickest is who reads your child's own working, because in a group of six the honest answer is nobody, individually.

What does a KHDA Educational Services Permit cover that a tutor permit does not?+

Premises and staff. A training institute operating in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, issued to a named address, beginning with initial approval, allowing a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and requiring renewal at least 30 days before expiry. An individual tutor instead needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free of charge and valid for two years. A provider without premises in Dubai holds no KHDA permit, and IB Gram does not hold one.

How many students sit in a typical Dubai tuition-centre IB group?+

Fewer than the brochure suggests, outside Al Barsha. The IB cohort in most Dubai districts is small relative to other curricula, so an advertised IB group in Karama, Deira or Al Quoz may be two or three students at a particular level. That is a very expensive form of one-to-one with a third of the attention. Ask in writing how many students will be in the room, in that subject, at that level, on the evening you would attend.

Does a group of six work for Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level?+

For meeting content, yes. For finding out why marks are being lost, no. Higher Level calculus and proof marks are lost inside the working, and nobody can read six students' working in sixty minutes. The practical rule is about the stage of the problem: if your child has not met the topic, a group is efficient and cheap; if they can explain it and are still dropping marks, the problem is in their execution and only individual attention will locate it.

Which Dubai neighbourhoods hold most of the tuition centres?+

Al Quoz and Al Barsha are the two main belts, with long-established clusters in Karama, Oud Metha, Bur Dubai and parts of Deira. Premises follow affordable floorspace and passing trade. IB continuum schools, by contrast, have been built where new family housing went up, so their cohorts sit in Nad Al Sheba, Meydan, the Sustainable City, Dubai Investments Park, Mirdif and Al Jaddaf. Al Barsha is the one district where both maps genuinely overlap.

What does a monthly tuition package in Dubai usually include?+

Published figures read in October 2026 cluster at about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's wider monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run roughly AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. What is usually not stated is whether marking and written feedback happen outside the session, whether unused sessions roll over, and whether VAT is included.

How do we compare a centre's group rate with a one-to-one rate?+

Divide. A 60-minute class of six is ten minutes of individual attention at the group rate, plus a round trip of forty to fifty minutes out of an evening that only has about 150 usable minutes in it. That comparison is not always unfavourable to the centre: for first-pass content coverage the group hour is genuinely good value. For locating an unexplained mark loss it is the wrong instrument at any price, because the division of attention is the whole problem.

Does our child need separate tuition for each Diploma subject group?+

Almost never. Six subjects at one session a week each is six evenings and a student with no time left to do the work that was set. One or two subjects taught properly, with work set and actually done, moves more marks than six rushed hours. The usual honest shortlist is the Higher Level subject furthest from target plus whichever coursework deadline is nearest, and everything else waits until one of those is resolved.

Where do Biology Higher Level students lose the most marks?+

On data-based questions set in unfamiliar contexts, and on the Higher Level extension topics that arrive late in DP2. Recall is rarely the problem in Dubai cohorts: a student who can define a process in the abstract loses four marks applying it to a named organism in a graph they have not seen. The second recurring loss is the command term, where an answer describes a pattern that the question asked to have explained. Both show up on one marked script.

Is drop-in revision tuition worth it close to the May session?+

It depends entirely on whether a diagnosis exists. Drop-in coverage eight weeks out, with no idea which component is costing marks, usually means re-teaching content the student already has. The same eight weeks spent on two identified components, with marked work at the start and the end of each block, is a different purchase. If you are starting late, spend the first session on a timed question and a written diagnosis rather than on content, however counter-intuitive that feels.

Can a tuition centre enter our child for IGCSE as a private candidate?+

Only if it is a recognised examination centre for that board, which is a separate status from a teaching permit, and you should ask to see which boards it is recognised for. Entry deadlines sit months before the papers, and the published Pearson Edexcel calendar shows the whole shape of it: the November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, entries for it closed long before that, and results reach students the following January, as November 2025 results did on 22 January 2026. A UAE candidate with Cambridge sits June or November on the same pattern, with the closing date on the statement of entry. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six timetable zones and warns that using the wrong zone's timetable is the candidate's risk.

Why is this taught over live video rather than at a Dubai centre?+

Because we have no centre, by design, and because premises force a group. A room that must be paid for has to be filled, and a filled room cannot do diagnosis. Removing the premises is what makes one student per session affordable. It also removes a forty to fifty minute round trip from a usable evening of roughly 150 minutes. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai either; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India.

How do we check a Dubai tuition provider is permitted to operate?+

Ask which permission applies to what it is doing, and ask in writing. A provider with premises in Dubai should be able to name its KHDA Educational Services Permit and the address on it. An individual tutor should be able to confirm the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free and valid two years. Nobody should quote you a fine amount for tutoring without a permit, because no fine schedule is published, and nobody should describe their tutors as approved by a regulator.

Does Language B tuition help with the Individual Oral?+

Yes, and this is one of the few places in the Diploma where a pair or a trio genuinely beats one-to-one, because another voice in the room creates the unpredictability the assessment depends on. Text-type conventions for the writing paper also teach well in a small group. What stays individual is feedback on a particular student's accuracy and register, since that is specific to the way one person speaks and writes.

What should a first IB tuition session in Dubai diagnose?+

Which marks went missing and why, before anything is taught. The student attempts one timed question unassisted while the tutor watches the working rather than waiting for the answer; the tutor marks it against the published scheme; you receive a written note naming secure topics, gaps, error categories and what the first three sessions would target. Content is available everywhere, often free. A specific reading of your child's own script is the part that is scarce.

What if nobody is free in the subject and level we need?+

You get told, with a date. Higher Level Chemistry and Physics in the early-evening Gulf Standard Time window are the tightest, along with Higher Level Computer Science and less common Language B options. We would rather leave a slot empty for a fortnight than put a Higher Level student with somebody who teaches the subject group but not the level. We will also say what is worth doing unsupervised in the meantime without consolidating the same errors.

Name the component and ask about group size

If you are comparing IB tuition near me in Dubai, two questions sort the results page faster than any price list. Ask how many students will be in the room, in that subject, at that level, on the evening you would attend. Then ask who reads your child's own working, and when. Send us the last marked script and the component it shows the loss in, book the free trial lesson, and read the written diagnosis afterwards. No card details are taken and the note is yours whether you continue or not.
