Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 Tutor in Dubai

A Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 tutor in Dubai is a different purchase from a tutor in a discursive subject, because Accounting rewards drilled procedure rather than argument. That changes what you should pay for and where a cheaper rate is genuinely fine. This page costs the seven topic areas separately, names the four where a budget tutor runs out of depth, and publishes the AED bands the Dubai market charges with each source attributed. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Seven 0452 topic areas costed separately, with hours estimated per area
  • AED market bands published with the provider and year named
  • Free trial lesson before payment, with no card details collected
  • Marked ledger work returned before the next session, not at it

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Costing 0452 by topic area rather than by the hour

Accounting is the rare IGCSE subject where you can estimate the bill before you start. The syllabus is procedural, the seven topic areas are sequential, and a student either executes a double-entry chain correctly or does not. That makes diagnosis fast and the work finite: a Dubai family can usually be told, after one marked paper, that the gap is control accounts and incomplete records and that it is roughly five hours of work. Nobody can say that about an essay subject.

Hourly rates in Dubai are the wrong unit for this subject, which is why the tables below cost topic areas instead. Market bands exist and they matter: a qualified online subject tutor is quoted between AED 150 and 300 an hour, an exam-board specialist between AED 200 and 450, and in-home one-to-one between AED 180 and 500 with travel absorbed. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150, TutorChase quotes AED 270, Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table reaches AED 450 and above, and budget providers advertise from AED 33 to 65. Those are market figures from the providers named, not an IB Gram price list.

The useful observation is that the usual rule about cheap tutors is partly wrong for Accounting. In a discursive subject a budget tutor can teach content and cannot mark an argument, so the cheap hour is poor value. In 0452, several topic areas are purely procedural and a competent graduate can drill them perfectly well. A Dubai family on a tight budget can legitimately buy cheap hours for the first four topic areas and reserve the expensive hours for the parts where cheap help reliably fails.

Four places where it fails, specifically: financial statements for partnerships and limited companies, manufacturing accounts, incomplete records, and ratio interpretation. The first three go wrong because a tutor who has not worked through Cambridge scripts produces technically correct answers in the wrong format, and 0452 pays for format. The fourth fails because interpretation is a written skill wearing an accounting costume, and the mark scheme wants a comment about the business rather than a calculated figure.

There is also a version question that changes the plan. Cambridge revised 0452 so that the current syllabus pairs a shorter objective paper with a longer structured written paper, where earlier cohorts sat two equally weighted structured written papers. Which version your child is entered for is stated on the syllabus document for their series on cambridgeinternational.org, and it matters: objective-question practice is nearly free and can be done alone, while structured written practice needs marking, which is the part you are paying for.

On the format of delivery, the honest position. IB Gram does not run in-home visits anywhere in the UAE, and home visits are a service we offer only in India. Everything described here is one-to-one over live video. For Accounting that turns out to suit the subject unusually well, because ledger work on a shared screen is visible to both people in a way that a notebook across a table is not.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Accounting 0452 sits in a commerce pathway with a clear before and after, and the cost of support changes at each stage. The notes below set out what each stage asks for and what it is reasonable to spend on it.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Accounting 0452 runs over two years across seven topic areas, from the fundamentals and double entry through verification, accounting procedures, financial statements, analysis and interpretation, and accounting principles. Assessment is entirely by written examination with no coursework component, so the whole grade is produced under timed conditions and every mark is recoverable by practice.

In Dubai, 0452 usually appears in a commerce option block alongside Business Studies 0450 or Economics 0455, and some centres run it only when numbers allow. Because the subject is sequential, a student who misses a term in Year 10 carries the gap forward: ledgers taught badly in October are still wrong in May, which is why early diagnosis is cheaper here than in any other option subject.

LOWER SECAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary

There is no Accounting before Year 10, but the prerequisite is visible earlier and it is arithmetic discipline rather than mathematical ability. A student who makes two slips per page of calculation will make two slips per ledger, and in 0452 a single transposed figure can carry through a whole statement and cost marks at every stage it touches.

Dubai families whose children arrive from CBSE or Indian-curriculum schools often find the numerical side of 0452 comfortable and the terminology foreign, because the vocabulary and layout conventions differ. That is a cheap gap to close, usually two sessions, and it is worth closing before Year 10 rather than discovering it in a Year 11 mock.

AS/A LEVELAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

Accounting 9706 continues the subject at sixth form and the step up is in volume and in interpretation rather than in new concepts. Students who reached their 0452 grade by memorising layouts without understanding why a figure sits where it does tend to struggle in the first AS term, because 9706 asks for judgement about what the statements mean.

Where a Dubai sixth form offers Accounting 9706, it commonly sets a grade condition in 0452 for entry. If that is the plan, spending money in Year 11 on interpretation rather than on more ledger drill is the better investment, because interpretation is the half of the subject that carries forward and the layouts will be re-taught anyway.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

There is no direct Accounting equivalent in the Diploma; the nearest is Business Management, where financial statements appear as one part of a wider course and are assessed alongside an internally assessed research project. A 0452 student moving to the Diploma will find the accounting content easy and the written demands unfamiliar.

International Baccalaureate students make up around 7% of Dubai private-school enrolment and the emirate is adding three new IB schools in the 2026-27 intake. For families weighing the two post-16 routes, the practical point is that 0452 is not an entry requirement on the Diploma pathway, so the grade matters less for admission there than on the A Level route.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Most Dubai families buying 0452 support are also paying for something else that term. The notes below cover the subjects most often bought alongside it, with the cost consequence of each pairing rather than a description of the course.

Accounting (0452)

Cambridge IGCSE

Seven topic areas, written examination only. Costs are concentrated in financial statements, incomplete records, manufacturing accounts and ratio interpretation. The early areas are drillable at a low rate; the later ones are where a specialist earns the difference between AED 150 and AED 300 an hour.

Business Studies (0450)

Cambridge IGCSE

The commonest pairing in Dubai commerce blocks. Shares working capital, sources of finance and ratio analysis with 0452, so one tutor across both saves real hours. Fails differently: 0450 marks go on application and judgement rather than on procedure.

Economics (0455)

Cambridge IGCSE

Often the third commerce option. Diagram accuracy and causal reasoning rather than ledgers, which means it needs a different kind of hour. Families budgeting for two of the three should know that 0452 and 0455 share almost nothing in practice terms.

Mathematics (0580)

Core and Extended

The hidden dependency. Ratio, percentage and fraction fluency sit under most of 0452's marks, and a student losing accounting marks to arithmetic is paying accounting rates for a maths problem. Two 0580 sessions are often cheaper than four 0452 sessions treating the symptom.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Cambridge IGCSE

Taken by stronger Dubai cohorts, frequently in the slot a second commerce subject would use. Mentioned for budget reasons: a student carrying 0606 and 0452 is carrying two subjects that both demand regular written practice, and the weekly time budget usually breaks before the money does.

First Language English (0500)

Cambridge IGCSE

Relevant to one part of 0452 only, and it is the expensive part. Ratio interpretation and comments on financial performance are written answers, and students who write thin prose in English write thin interpretation in Accounting. The skill transfers in both directions.

English as a Second Language (0510 and 0511)

Cambridge IGCSE

Many Dubai candidates sit ESL. In 0452 the cost shows in terminology precision: a student who confuses provision with reserve, or drawings with expenses, loses marks that have nothing to do with their understanding of the procedure.

Information and Communication Technology (0417)

Cambridge IGCSE

A common fourth option in Dubai commerce-leaning blocks. Needs machine time rather than tutor time, which is useful to know when splitting a fixed monthly budget: the practical papers reward solo practice more cheaply than 0452's structured papers do.

Geography (0460)

Cambridge IGCSE

Frequently the subject 0452 competes with on a Year 9 option form. Three papers against two and a skills component, so the two-year tutoring profile is more spread out. Worth comparing before the option block closes rather than after.

Enterprise (0454)

Cambridge IGCSE

Offered by a small number of Dubai centres as a project-assessed alternative within the commerce group. Not interchangeable with 0452 for sixth-form entry, so confirm with the school before treating a grade in one as satisfying a condition quoted for the other.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Dubai families buy 0452 support, with the cost logic of each stated plainly. All are delivered one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time.

Drill block on named topic areas

A short run of sessions aimed at two or three specific areas identified from a marked paper, usually control accounts, incomplete records or the financial statements of a limited company. This is the cheapest useful purchase in the subject because the target is finite: when the procedure is executed correctly under timing, the block ends.

  • Two or three named topic areas per block
  • Four to eight sessions, not an open-ended commitment
  • Ends on an accuracy measure, not on a date
  • Priced as a block so the total is known upfront

Weekly session through Year 11

A standing weekly slot from September to the June series, which is the right shape for a student with gaps across several topic areas rather than two. More expensive in total than a drill block and defensible when the subject is a sixth-form prerequisite or when the Year 10 foundation was genuinely weak.

  • Sixty or ninety minute slots through the exam year
  • One structured written component marked between sessions
  • Topic areas worked in syllabus order, not exam order
  • Reviewed at six sessions with an option to stop

Interpretation-only sessions

Short sessions on the analysis and interpretation area alone, for students whose ledger work is already accurate and whose written comments score poorly. It is the most commonly skipped purchase in 0452 and often the best value, because the marks are concentrated and the skill carries into Accounting 9706 at sixth form.

  • Forty-five minutes, focused on written comment
  • Ratio calculation assumed, interpretation practised
  • Marked against the wording the mark scheme credits
  • Transfers directly to AS Accounting if that is the plan

01

What 0452 support costs in Dubai, costed by topic area

Pricing Accounting by the hour hides the thing a parent needs to know, which is how many hours. Because the syllabus is sequential and procedural, the hours are estimable in a way they are not for an essay subject. The table below takes the seven topic areas of Cambridge 0452, estimates the tutoring time each typically needs for a student who is behind in it, and says whether a budget-tier tutor can do the job.

The estimates assume a student who has been taught the material once in school and has not retained it, which is the usual situation rather than a student meeting it for the first time. They also assume marked written practice between sessions, because in Accounting the practice is where the learning happens and the session is where the errors get named. A plan with no written practice between sessions needs roughly twice the hours to reach the same accuracy.

Multiply the hours by a band and you have a budget. Six hours on financial statements at the specialist band is AED 1,200 to 2,700; the same six hours at the qualified-tutor band is AED 900 to 1,800. Whether the difference is worth paying depends entirely on which area you are buying, and that is the argument the final column is making. For the first two areas the answer is usually no. For the last three it is usually yes.

One context figure worth holding alongside the tutoring numbers: KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package. Exam entry is separate again, paid to the centre entering your child, with deadlines months ahead of the papers.

Accounting is procedural, so what you are buying is marked volume

  • Ask whether marking written practice is inside the rate or billed on top
  • Expect an error count per paper, not an overall percentage
  • A session of worked examples with no marked practice is half a service
  • Twenty worked questions beat two hours of demonstration

In a discursive subject the expensive part of tutoring is judgement: somebody reading an argument and saying why it fell short. In Accounting the expensive part is volume with correction. A student does not learn to prepare a statement of financial position by watching it done; they learn by doing twenty and having the errors named each time. That changes what a sensible purchase looks like.

The practical consequence is that the session is not the product. The product is the cycle: the student works a set of questions alone, somebody marks them with the error located rather than just circled, and the next set is chosen to attack that error. A tutor who fills sixty minutes with worked examples on a screen is selling the cheapest half of the service and withholding the expensive half, which is the marking.

This is why the marking question is the single most important thing to ask about a Dubai quote for 0452. Some rates include a marked structured component between sessions; others bill marking at the same hourly rate, which can add a third to a monthly total. For an essay subject that distinction affects quality. For Accounting it affects whether the tutoring works at all, because without marked volume the student simply repeats the same ledger error with more confidence.

The upside of a procedural subject is that it is cheap to measure. An error count per paper is a number a parent can read: six transposition errors and two format errors in week one, two and none in week five. No interpretation is required, no grade estimate is needed, and nobody has to take a tutor's word for whether the sessions are working.

03

Where a cheaper 0452 tutor stops being cheaper

Four parts of the syllabus reliably defeat a tutor who knows accounting but has not worked through Cambridge 0452 scripts. The first is the financial statements of partnerships and limited companies. A competent accountant will produce a technically correct statement in the layout they use professionally, and 0452 credits a specific presentation. Correct figures in the wrong format lose marks, and the student has no way of knowing which version to trust.

The second is manufacturing accounts, which are a schoolroom construct rather than a thing practising accountants prepare, so professional experience is no help and syllabus familiarity is everything. The third is incomplete records, where the task is to reconstruct missing figures from fragments; it is the area that separates grade bands most sharply and the one where unguided practice goes wrong silently, because a student can produce a plausible answer that is wrong throughout.

The fourth is analysis and interpretation. Ratio calculation is arithmetic and anyone can teach it. The marks sit in the comment: what this ratio suggests about this business, compared with the previous year or with another firm. That is a written skill, and the mark scheme credits specific kinds of statement. A tutor who has not read mark schemes will accept answers that a marker would not, and the student will discover this in June.

A sensible Dubai budget therefore splits by area rather than buying one rate for everything. Cheap hours for the fundamentals, recording, verification and principles. Specialist hours for statements, incomplete records, interpretation and whole-paper timing. A family that does this spends less in total than one that pays a mid-band rate across all seven areas, and gets a better result in the four that decide the grade.

04

The 0452 components, and the cheapest route to each kind of mark

Cambridge has revised 0452, and which version your child sits changes the practice plan. The current syllabus pairs a shorter objective-question paper with a longer structured written paper; earlier cohorts sat two equally weighted structured written papers. The format, durations and weightings for your child's series are published in the syllabus document on cambridgeinternational.org, and the exams officer at the school knows which version the centre has entered. Confirm it before planning, because the two versions reward different spending.

The reason it matters financially is that objective questions are nearly free to practise. A student can work through them alone, check answers against a key, and self-correct without anybody marking anything. Structured written questions are the opposite: they are where format, presentation and the carried-forward error live, and they cannot be usefully self-marked by a student who does not yet know the conventions.

So the cost-efficient plan on the current syllabus is to push objective practice almost entirely into independent work and spend the paid hours on structured written questions. Families routinely do the reverse, because objective practice is easy to supervise and feels productive. The table makes the distinction explicit, with the cheapest adequate route to each kind of mark in the final column.

One caution on all of the above. We reference the Cambridge syllabus and link the official page; we do not reproduce or distribute syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes. Any provider advertising a download library of Cambridge material is distributing work it does not own, which is a reasonable prompt to check its other claims.

In-home 0452 tuition in Dubai, priced against online

IB Gram does not sell in-home visits in the UAE, and home visits are a service we run only in India. The comparison still belongs on this page, because a Dubai family searching for an Accounting tutor is choosing between formats as much as between providers, and the subject has a specific quirk that makes the comparison less obvious than usual.

The quirk is that Accounting works better on a shared screen than most subjects work on any screen. Ledger work is spatial: the error is in a particular cell of a particular statement, and pointing at it precisely matters more than eye contact. On a shared screen both people see the same cursor in the same cell. Across a kitchen table, the tutor sees the page upside down, which is a small thing that compounds over ninety minutes of correction.

Against that, an in-home tutor can confiscate a phone and keep a fourteen-year-old working for two hours, and no amount of screen quality replicates that. For a Year 10 student with an attention problem rather than an accounting problem, the in-home market rate of AED 180 to 500 an hour may be buying supervision, and supervision is a legitimate thing to buy. It is simply not the same purchase as subject depth.

The scheduling economics also favour online in this subject specifically. 0452 rewards short, frequent contact: fifteen minutes to fix one reconciliation error on Tuesday, ninety minutes for a full structured paper on Saturday. No tutor can price a fifteen-minute visit across Dubai in evening traffic, so in-home arrangements default to one long weekly session, which is the shape the subject least needs.

Resits, series choice and the money that is not tutoring

Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and those two are the whole of what a Dubai candidate can sit: June is the main entry and November is where a grade gets rebuilt. Entry is made by the centre, not the family, and the deadline sits a long way ahead of the paper. That ordering is the part worth absorbing, because it means the accounting entry is filed before the mock that would have informed it has been marked. Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 series shows the same distance with published dates at both ends: the timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and the results from the November series before it did not reach students until 22 January 2026. Cambridge's June entries close in the spring, months before the first paper, with the exact day set per series and per timetable zone and printed on the statement of entry the school issues.

The financial lesson is about sequence rather than amount. A family deciding in February whether to fund a resit block is deciding after the entry window for the nearest series has closed. Any resit plan has to be made with the exams officer months earlier, and a tutoring budget built around a resit that was never entered is money with nowhere to go.

For Dubai centres using Pearson Edexcel instead, International GCSE exams are available in May or June and in November, with provisional timetables published ahead of each series. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Work from the live official timetable rather than any restated date, including these, because provisional versions are revised.

A resit in Accounting is unusually likely to be worth funding, for a structural reason. The subject is procedural, so a student who scored poorly because two topic areas were never secured can be made secure in those two areas over a summer, and the paper does not change its demands between series. That is a very different proposition from resitting an essay subject, where the improvement is slower and less certain.

07

Is the tutor you are paying legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted, not unregulated, and the detail is worth knowing before money changes hands. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through MoHRE. It is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page, 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', lists a two-working-day completion time via the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

The eligibility list is broader than parents expect: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. That last category explains a chunk of the AED 45 to 65 end of the Dubai market. A sixteen-year-old with a permit tutoring a Year 9 student is operating entirely within the rules, and may be excellent, and is not the person to hire for incomplete records.

There is a conflict-of-interest rule that matters in Abu Dhabi and is worth knowing emirate-wide. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. This is press-reported and worth verifying against the current policy document, but the direction is clear: 'your child's own teacher, privately' is not a product anyone should be selling.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any specific amount circulating online is unverified and we will not repeat one. On the other side, a tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit and does not need one, because it operates no premises in the UAE, and we do not describe our tutors as approved by any regulator.

How 0452 sessions run, and what we will not claim

A family sends a marked Accounting paper, or names the topic areas the school has flagged. The trial lesson is free and collects no card details, and it is spent working through that paper rather than on a sales conversation. It ends with a written note listing the topic areas that need work, the estimated hours for each, and which of them a cheaper tutor could cover. That last column is in the note even though it costs us bookings.

Sessions then run one-to-one over live video at a fixed slot in Gulf Standard Time, with ledger work on a shared screen so both people are looking at the same cell. Written practice is set between sessions, marked with the error located rather than circled, and returned before the next session. Progress is reported as an error count per paper, because that is the honest measure in a procedural subject.

On availability, the honest version. 0452 is sat by a smaller cohort than maths or the sciences, and specialists in the harder areas are not always free at the evening hours Dubai families want. When that is the case we say so, offer the nearest match with the limitation stated, and give the likely wait for the specialist. A Year 11 student who needs incomplete records marked properly is badly served by a generalist, however pleasant the hour.

Two fixed boundaries. A tutor teaches, reviews and gives feedback on work the student has produced, and nobody here will produce assessed material for a student under any board. And we reference Cambridge material rather than distributing it, working from the copies your child's school has issued. No page of ours claims accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson, because IB Gram holds none, and no page of ours promises a grade.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Where a Dubai family lives used to decide which 0452 tutors were reachable and what the hour cost. These notes cover that geography and the practical effect of removing travel from the price.

Dubai Marina and JBR

In-home quotes sit at the upper end because building access and parking add time either side of the hour. For a procedural subject this matters more than usual: 0452 benefits from short, frequent drill sessions, and short visits are the ones travel makes uneconomic.

Al Barsha and The Greens

A deep local pool of British-curriculum tutors, so in-home rates sit mid-band and availability is reasonable. The competitive hour is 7pm, which is also the hour a tired Year 11 is least able to work accurately through a set of ledgers.

Dubai Hills Estate

Villa communities where internal drive time adds to the journey, pushing in-home quotes towards the top of the AED 180-500 band. Families buying both commerce options here often find the travel premium exceeds the second subject's tuition entirely.

Mirdif and Al Warqa

Away from the main concentration of commerce specialists, so in-home availability for 0452 thins quickly, especially for the later topic areas. This is where online delivery changes the choice rather than just the price.

Arabian Ranches and Mudon

Long school runs and late returns mean weekday sessions start late. Weekend mornings suit 0452 well, because a full structured paper plus marking needs an uninterrupted block that a school evening rarely offers.

Al Qusais and Muhaisnah

Dense in schools with large South Asian cohorts where commerce options are popular, so demand for 0452 support is high and local rates are competitive. Group classes are more common here than elsewhere in the emirate.

Business Bay and Downtown

Apartment households with working parents and late session starts. Shorter, more frequent drill slots after 7.30pm fit the subject better than a single long weekly lesson, and online is the only format in which that is affordable.

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai centres where Accounting commonly appears in the commerce option block

Well-known Dubai schools running Cambridge IGCSE at Key Stage 4. Whether 0452 runs in a given year depends on how many students pick it, and some centres offer Business Studies without Accounting, so confirm the syllabus code with the head of department before buying tutoring against it.

  • Deira International School
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Raffles World Academy
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Uptown International School

Dubai centres with large international cohorts taking commerce subjects

Schools with mixed international enrolment where commerce subjects are well subscribed. Grade reporting differs between centres, with some using 9 to 1 and others A* to G, which is the usual reason a parent misreads whether a mock result meets a published sixth-form condition.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send a marked paper or the flagged topic areas

A photograph of a marked 0452 attempt with the school's annotations is the fastest possible start. Failing that, the list of topic areas the school has raised is enough. Either way, naming the areas rather than the subject gets a costed answer in hours instead of a week of diagnostic questions.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson, spent on the paper

One session at no cost and with no card details collected, worked through your child's own attempt. You end with a written note: the topic areas that need work, estimated hours for each, and which of them a cheaper tutor could cover adequately. That note is useful whoever you end up booking.

  3. 03

Buy a block, not a subscription

For a procedural subject a finite block aimed at named topic areas is the better purchase. The total is known upfront, the target is an accuracy measure rather than a date, and the block ends when the procedure holds under timing rather than when a term finishes.

  4. 04

    Practise alone, get it marked

The student works a set of questions between sessions without help, and the marking locates each error rather than circling the answer. The session is spent on the errors and on a second attempt at the same question type, because in Accounting the repeat attempt is where the procedure sticks.

  5. 05

Track the error count and stop when it flattens

Progress is reported as errors per paper, split into transposition, direction and format. When the count stops falling the block has done its work, and continuing out of habit is the commonest way Dubai families overspend on this subject. We will say when that point has arrived.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The hours are costed, not just the rate

Seven topic areas with estimated hours and an AED range for each, so a parent can build a budget before speaking to anybody. Most tutoring pages publish no price at all; three of six researched competitors publish none, and the two that do quote in US dollars.

We say where a cheaper tutor is fine

Four of the seven 0452 areas can be covered adequately at a budget rate with marked practice. That is in the table and in the trial-lesson note. It costs us hours and it is the honest answer for a family deciding how to split a fixed budget across two subjects.

Marking is the product, and it is specified

Written practice marked with the error located rather than circled, returned before the next session. In a procedural subject this is the part that moves marks, and it is the part most commonly billed separately or quietly omitted from a quote.

Error counts instead of grade estimates

Progress is reported as errors per paper by type: transposition, direction, format. A parent can read it without knowing the syllabus, and it cannot be dressed up. No tutor can promise a grade in 0452, and we do not report numbers that imply one.

Specialist access for the four hard areas

Financial statements, manufacturing accounts, incomplete records and interpretation need somebody who has worked through Cambridge scripts. Over live video that person does not need to live near Mirdif, Mudon or Al Qusais, which is where local specialist supply is thinnest.

Sourced facts, no borrowed authority

Every AED band is attributed to the provider that published it in 2026, and every regulatory statement carries its source. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation, runs no UAE premises, and publishes no rating or statistic it cannot evidence.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does a Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 tutor cost per hour in Dubai?+

Market rates put a qualified online subject tutor at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour and an exam-board specialist at AED 200 to 450, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150, TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table reaching AED 450 and above. In-home one-to-one is quoted from AED 180 to 500 with travel absorbed. These are published market figures from the providers named rather than an IB Gram price list, and the more useful question in this subject is how many hours each topic area needs.

How many hours of 0452 tutoring does a Dubai student actually need?+

It depends entirely on which topic areas are weak, and that is knowable from one marked paper. Rough estimates for a student who was taught the material and did not retain it: one to two hours on fundamentals, three to five on recording and on verification, four to six on accounting procedures, five to eight on financial statements, three to five on interpretation, and two to three on whole-paper timing. A student with two weak areas needs eight to twelve hours. A student weak across the syllabus needs a weekly slot through Year 11.

Can a cheaper tutor teach Accounting adequately, or is that a false economy?+

In this subject, partly adequate. Four of the seven 0452 areas are procedural enough that a competent graduate with marked practice can cover them: fundamentals, recording of data, verification, and principles and policies. Four areas defeat a non-specialist with some reliability: financial statements, where format decides marks; manufacturing accounts; incomplete records; and ratio interpretation, where the wording of a comment earns the credit. The economical plan buys cheap hours for the first group and specialist hours for the second.

Why does my child lose marks on statements that contain the right figures?+

Because 0452 credits presentation as well as arithmetic. A statement of financial position or an income statement has a required structure, and an answer with correct totals in a professional layout the syllabus does not use will lose marks a student cannot see. This is the commonest reason a tutor with real accounting experience but no Cambridge experience underperforms: the layout they use at work is right in the office and wrong in the exam, and the student has no way to tell which to trust.

Is marking included in a Dubai tutor's hourly rate for Accounting?+

Ask, because it varies and it decides whether the tutoring works. At the budget end the advertised rate is usually teaching time only, with marking billed at the same hourly rate, which can add a third to a monthly total. At the specialist end marked written practice is normally inside the rate. In a procedural subject the marking is not an optional extra; without it a student repeats the same ledger error with increasing confidence, so a cheap rate with no marking is the most expensive option available.

Does the Cambridge 0452 syllabus still have two written papers of equal weight?+

Check the syllabus document for your child's series, because Cambridge revised the subject. The current version pairs a shorter objective-question paper with a longer structured written paper, where earlier cohorts sat two equally weighted structured written papers. Your school's exams officer knows which version the centre has entered. It matters financially: objective questions can be practised alone against an answer key at no cost, while structured written questions need marking, so the paid hours should go to the second.

Which 0452 topic area is worth spending the most on?+

Preparation of financial statements, usually five to eight hours for a student who is behind, because it carries a large share of the structured paper and because errors there are invisible to the student. Incomplete records is the next priority, for a different reason: it is where grade bands separate most sharply and where unguided practice fails silently, since a reconstruction can look entirely plausible and be wrong from the second line onwards. Interpretation is third and the cheapest of the three to fix.

Will IB Gram arrange an Accounting tutor to come to our Dubai home?+

No. IB Gram does not offer in-home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. Dubai families are taught one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, with ledger work on a shared screen. For Accounting that suits the subject: the error is in a specific cell of a specific statement, and on a shared screen both people are looking at the same cursor rather than at a notebook viewed from the wrong angle.

Is it cheaper to take Accounting and Business Studies with one tutor?+

The hourly rate rarely changes, but the total hours do. Working capital, sources of finance and ratio analysis appear in both 0452 and 0450, so a tutor who sees both sets of marked work teaches a shared idea once and applies it twice. Expect to save roughly two to three hours across a year rather than half the bill. The caution is that the subjects fail differently, so a tutor strong in one is not automatically useful in the other; ask about both separately.

Is a resit in Accounting worth paying for after a poor June result?+

More often than in most subjects, for a structural reason. Accounting is procedural, so a student who scored poorly because two topic areas were never secured can be made secure in those areas over a summer, and the paper's demands do not change between series. That is a very different proposition from resitting an essay subject. The constraint is administrative: entry is made by the centre and the deadline sits months before the paper, so the decision has to be taken with the exams officer early.

Can my child practise 0452 questions without a tutor marking them?+

Objective questions yes, against an answer key, and that practice should be free and independent. Structured written questions no, with one exception. A student who already knows the required format can self-check figures, but a student learning the format cannot, because the whole problem is not knowing which presentation earns the marks. Incomplete records is the clearest case: a reconstruction can be internally consistent, plausible and wrong throughout, and only somebody who knows the method will spot where it diverged.

Does a tutor in Dubai need a permit, and does it cost us anything?+

A permit is required and it costs nothing. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE, and is granted free of charge for two years, with MoHRE listing a two-working-day completion time on its own service page. So any tutor describing the permit as a cost to be passed on is describing something that does not exist. Those tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no official fine schedule is published.

Why are some Dubai Accounting tutors advertising AED 45 an hour?+

Partly because the MoHRE permit eligibility list includes university students and school students aged 15 to 18, so the low end of the market is legitimate rather than irregular. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A well-organised student tutor can genuinely drill double entry and control accounts. What they cannot usually do is mark a limited company's financial statements against the required format or judge whether an interpretation comment earns the credit.

How should we split a fixed monthly budget between Accounting and a second subject?+

Diagnose both first, then spend by area rather than by subject. Accounting hours are estimable because the syllabus is sequential, so you can put a number on what it needs; a discursive subject usually cannot be costed that precisely. The common mistake is an even split, which overfunds the subject that happens to be worrying you this month. A single trial lesson in each produces two written estimates, and the split follows from those rather than from anxiety.

What does progress in 0452 look like if not a rising mock grade?+

An error count per paper, split by type. Transposition errors, direction errors where a debit and credit are reversed, and format errors where the figures are right and the presentation is not. Six, three and two in week one becoming two, zero and zero by week five is real movement, and a parent can read it without knowing the syllabus. Mock grades in Dubai are set internally against the school's own boundary estimate, so they are a rough position rather than a measurement.

Get the topic areas costed before you book anything

Accounting is the subject where a Dubai family can actually know the size of the job before paying for it. One marked 0452 paper is usually enough to name the weak topic areas, estimate the hours each needs, and say which of them a cheaper tutor could handle adequately. The free trial lesson exists to produce that note, costs nothing, collects no card details, and the note is yours to use wherever you book. Send a recent marked attempt or the list of areas the school has flagged, and we will cost it rather than quote you an hourly rate and leave you to guess the total.
