What actually happens when you ask for an IB physics tutor in Peddar Road?

Physics requests get read more carefully than most, because two children with the same symptom need opposite tutors. One child understands the physics perfectly and cannot rearrange an equation with three variables in it, so the sessions should be half mathematics. Another manipulates algebra fluently and has no mental picture of what a field or a potential difference actually is, so sessions built around more practice questions will change nothing. We ask for the year group, the level, and a marked piece of work with the lost marks visible, because the marked work usually tells us which child we are dealing with.

IB Gram is a matching platform rather than a tuition centre, so nobody here teaches your child. The work is reading the request properly, pulling the Physics tutors whose recent teaching matches that level, checking which of them can hold a standing weekly slot at your building, and introducing two or three. We cap the shortlist deliberately. A parent comparing nine profiles ends up choosing on price or on response speed, and in physics that produces the specific failure where a strong engineering graduate re-teaches content the child already knows.

Travel is decided at the same moment as the match, not afterwards. South Mumbai is dense and short-distance but slow, and a tutor crossing from Worli to Colaba covers eight kilometres while still losing forty minutes to the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. So an IB physics home tutor in Peddar Road is normally someone already working inside the island, and we hold every proposed journey to one standard: would this tutor still make it willingly on a wet Wednesday in August?

For a Peddar Road family the sequence runs as follows:

1. Send the year group, the level, and a photograph of recent marked physics work. 2. We filter Physics tutors by level and teaching history, then by travel to Dr G. Deshmukh Marg. 3. You take a free discovery call with two or three and ask your own questions. 4. The chosen tutor runs a diagnostic lesson and tells you in writing whether this is a physics gap or a mathematics gap. 5. We review at two to four weeks and swap the tutor if the match is wrong.

  • Marked work read before any profile is suggested
  • Level and teaching history filter the pool before travel does
  • Shortlist capped at two or three so comparison stays honest
  • Every journey judged against a wet August weekday, not a dry June one
  • Diagnostic lesson names the real gap before the plan is written

Physics from Primary Years curiosity to Diploma Programme Higher Level

In the International Baccalaureate (IB) the subject arrives late under its own name and early in disguise. A Primary Years Programme (PYP) child investigating why a heavier ball does not fall faster is doing physics without the vocabulary, and the tutoring need at that stage is almost never remedial. In the Middle Years Programme (MYP) physics sits inside integrated sciences, assessed against criteria that reward designing a fair test, handling data honestly and evaluating a method, and a child who writes a beautiful conclusion with no reference to their own data loses marks they never realise were available.

The jump that bruises families is MYP into the Diploma Programme (DP). DP physics assumes the student can treat an equation as a relationship rather than a recipe, can read a graph as a story about proportionality, and can write a short explanation that moves from cause to effect without skipping a step. Students arriving from a strong MYP background with weak algebra typically survive the first term and hit trouble when circular motion and fields arrive together. This is the single most common point at which a Peddar Road parent starts looking for a tutor.

Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) differ by more than extra chapters. The additional content at Higher Level brings a step up in mathematical demand and a stronger expectation that a student can derive rather than recall. An honest conversation about HL happens in the first weeks of DP1, not in DP2 when the options have narrowed. For a student taking Physics at Higher Level alongside Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, the two subjects support each other, and a tutor who notices that overlap is worth more than two tutors who do not talk to each other.

To be explicit about what this page is and is not: IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with Activity High School, Aditya Birla World Academy or any other school mentioned here, and we do not guarantee grades. Nothing about paper structure, topic lists or assessment weighting should be taken from this page as current. The International Baccalaureate revises subject guides on its own cycle, so confirm the structure with your child's Diploma Programme coordinator or the current subject guide.

  • PYP physics is curiosity work, not a subject needing remediation
  • MYP sciences reward fair tests, honest data and real evaluation
  • The MYP to DP jump exposes algebra, not physics knowledge
  • Higher Level adds mathematical demand and expects derivation
  • Confirm current structure with the school, never with a page like this

Where IB physics marks actually disappear, paper by paper

Diploma Programme physics is examined across several papers with distinct demands, and students lose marks in different places on each. The multiple-choice component punishes students who calculate when they should estimate and who have never practised eliminating two obviously wrong options in fifteen seconds. The structured written paper is where most of the damage happens: questions ask students to explain, to justify, to compare, and a student who answers an explain question with a calculation scores almost nothing. The data and practical component rewards students who have handled real measurements, spotted a systematic error, and argued about uncertainty rather than quoting it.

The topics are predictable too. Kinematics graphs go wrong because students read the axis label as a formality and confuse the gradient with the area underneath. Circular motion fails on the direction of acceleration, which students know and do not believe. Fields and potential blur together because the words are similar and the sign conventions are not. Thermal physics loses marks on specific heat capacity questions where the energy balance is set up backwards. Electricity questions collapse when a student cannot redraw a circuit sensibly. Quantum and nuclear topics are often fine on content and weak on orders of magnitude, so an answer differing from reality by ten to the six passes without comment.

Uncertainties deserve their own attention because they appear everywhere and are taught nowhere thoroughly. A student needs to know when to add absolute uncertainties, when to add percentage ones, how to carry an uncertainty through a calculation involving a square, and how to draw and justify a line of best fit with error bars. Students who learn this properly in DP1 collect marks on every data question for two years. Students who do not, and there are many, treat every uncertainty question as a fresh crisis.

This is the content a Physics tutor in Peddar Road should be able to discuss in specifics before you book them. Ask them what proportion of a Diploma Programme physics mark depends on writing rather than calculating, and listen for whether they have thought about it. Physics home classes Peddar Road families keep for two full years tend to be the ones where the tutor treats explanation writing as a skill to be taught rather than a weakness to be noted.

  • Multiple choice rewards estimation and elimination, not full calculation
  • An explain question answered with algebra scores almost nothing
  • Kinematics graphs: gradient versus area is the classic lost mark
  • Uncertainty rules learned once pay out on every data question
  • Orders of magnitude catch errors that content knowledge cannot
  • Ask a prospective tutor how much of the mark is writing

How far will a physics tutor travel across South Mumbai for one lesson?

Further than for most subjects, because Diploma Programme physics specialists are thinner on the ground than maths tutors, and both sides know it. In practice the workable radius from Dr G. Deshmukh Marg covers Peddar Road itself, Kemps Corner above it, Cumballa Hill behind, and Tardeo across the way, plus Breach Candy, Babulnath, Grant Road and Walkeshwar at the edges. Inside that ring a tutor can hold two or three lessons in an evening and the arrangement survives. Outside it, a single lesson has to justify a journey, which it rarely does twice a week.

Grant Road station matters here as infrastructure rather than as geography. A Physics tutor living along the Western Line can reach it from Mumbai Central, Mahim or Dadar and take a short ride up, which in the evening peak beats driving and in the monsoon beats it decisively. Metro Line 3 on the Cuffe Parade to BKC alignment has made a genuine difference for tutors living towards the harbour side, and the Coastal Road has changed what a tutor coming from Worli will quote. The Harbour Line through CSMT, Dockyard and Sewri covers the Wadala and Sewri edge of the pool.

The suburbs are a different conversation and we will be blunt about it. A physics specialist in Powai off JVLR, or in Thane along Ghodbunder Road, or in a Navi Mumbai node on Palm Beach Road, may be exactly the right teacher for your child and still be the wrong arrangement for a weekday evening in Peddar Road. The Eastern Freeway helps from Chembur and Wadala, and the Atal Setu has changed the Navi Mumbai map, but no road fixes a tutor who is tired of the trip by November. When the right specialist is genuinely out of range, we say so and propose online instead of pretending the geography works.

A note on scarcity that applies to this subject more than to any other on this road. Because the local cohort skews towards Cambridge-pathway students, the deepest part of the South Mumbai tutor pool is IGCSE science rather than Diploma Programme physics at Higher Level. An IB physics tutor in Peddar Road with real Higher Level experience is therefore a profile we often hold open for a week rather than fill the same day, and families who need that exact match benefit from asking early in the academic year.

  • Workable ring: Peddar Road, Kemps Corner, Cumballa Hill, Tardeo and Breach Candy
  • Grant Road and the Western Line keep monsoon attendance intact
  • Coastal Road and Metro Line 3 have reset tutors' travel quotes
  • Suburban specialists are often right for the child, wrong for the slot
  • Higher Level physics is a scarcer local profile than IGCSE science

Where do Peddar Road's Diploma Programme physics students actually study?

Mostly not on the road itself, and that shapes everything about scheduling here. Activity High School sits on Peddar Road and follows the Cambridge pathway, so the children walking home from the nearest school gate are largely IGCSE students rather than Diploma Programme ones. The IB families on this stretch send their children a little further: Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo runs the Diploma Programme, Bombay International School at Babulnath is the other short hop, and some households travel out to Cuffe Parade or across to Bandra Kurla Complex. Physics is a subject whose students are therefore arriving home from several directions at once.

That matters because the return journey, not the school day, decides when a physics lesson can start. A DP1 student coming back from Tardeo is home earlier than one returning from BKC, and both are later than the timetable implies because the trip lands in the same congestion that makes this road notorious. The road's evening traffic is the single biggest scheduling constraint in South Mumbai, and physics is the subject that suffers most from a tired start, since explanation work and derivations need a student who can hold a thought for ten minutes.

The calendar adds its own pressure points. Internal assessment work and the scientific investigation tend to land in the same part of the year as other subjects' deadlines, and schools stack mock examinations into a short window. A physics tutor working this circuit knows which months the whole cohort panics in, and a sensible plan protects the weekly slot through those weeks instead of adding emergency sessions. Families who negotiate a Saturday morning before the pressure arrives are the ones still getting full value from their tutor in February.

These school names are local context and nothing more. IB Gram has no connection with Activity High School, Aditya Birla World Academy or any other school named here, does not speak for them, and cannot tell you their internal deadlines. What we can say is that their calendars and their locations together determine which hours of the week are realistically available for physics on this road, which is information a directory listing will never give you.

  • The nearest school gate is an IGCSE one, so IB demand is spread
  • Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo is the close Diploma Programme option
  • The journey home, not the school bell, sets the earliest start time
  • Physics suffers more than most subjects from a tired evening slot
  • Book the Saturday morning before the mock season arrives

Physics home tuition on Peddar Road, or online with a document camera?

Home tuition leads for physics, and for a reason specific to the subject: a tutor needs to see the diagram. Most physics errors are visible in the sketch a student draws before any algebra starts, in the free-body diagram with a missing force or the circuit redrawn wrongly. Sitting at the same table, a tutor interrupts at the diagram instead of at the answer. IB physics home classes in Peddar Road also mean the student is not arriving at a lesson already drained by a journey through the evening peak, which for a subject that needs sustained attention is worth more than an extra fifteen minutes of teaching.

Online deserves a fair hearing here rather than a polite dismissal, because for Higher Level physics it is often the honest answer. The specialist who has taught Higher Level for years may simply not live in your ring, and a strong online tutor beats a local generalist for a student wrestling with fields or quantum topics. What the setup needs is specific: a document camera or phone stand pointing at paper so the tutor can watch the diagram being drawn, a shared whiteboard, and a student willing to hold the camera steady. An IB online tutor in Peddar Road working from a laptop webcam alone will be teaching blind.

Hybrid suits physics unusually well. A long weekend session at home covers derivations, full past-paper sections under timed conditions and anything involving apparatus or a practical write-up. A shorter midweek online session marks problem sets, checks the investigation draft and fixes two specific errors. Many Peddar Road families settle into this after a month, not because it is ideal in theory but because two weekday home lessons in a Mumbai monsoon November is a timetable that breaks.

Some parents here already have an IB private tutor Peddar Road neighbours recommended and want us only for the subject that tutor cannot cover, which is frequently physics. That is a perfectly good use of the platform. A parent typing IB tutors near me Peddar Road into a phone at eleven at night will not find a Higher Level physics specialist on the next street simply by searching harder, and knowing that early saves two frustrating weeks.

  • Home sessions let the tutor interrupt at the diagram, not the answer
  • Higher Level specialists are often online rather than nearby
  • Online physics needs a document camera, not just a webcam
  • Weekend home session for derivations and timed papers
  • Midweek online session for marking and investigation drafts

Which questions separate a real physics teacher from a confident graduate?

Before a profile reaches you we have checked identity documents, seen qualifications rather than accepted claims, and held a subject conversation about teaching physics at the level you asked for. Physics is where that conversation earns its keep, because the field attracts extremely capable people who have never taught. An engineering graduate can solve every question on a Diploma Programme paper and still have no idea why a student writes a correct calculation under an explain command word, or how to unpick a student's belief that acceleration points along the velocity in circular motion.

On the discovery call, ask three questions and listen for specifics. First: what did you teach last year, at which level, and how many students? Second: name a topic where your students consistently lose marks and tell me how you fix it; an answer naming circular motion, fields or uncertainty handling with an actual method is the signal you want. Third: how do you teach a student to write a six-mark explanation? A tutor who has never thought about that last one is a problem solver rather than a physics teacher, and your child's marks are being lost in prose.

Be wary of anyone who offers a guaranteed grade, cites a success rate or claims to be the strongest physics teacher in South Mumbai. None of that survives contact with an externally marked examination, and IB Gram does not guarantee grades either. What a serious tutor will commit to is a written diagnosis after session one, homework that comes back marked, honesty about what they are not covering, and a direct answer when you ask whether the plan is working. Here in Mumbai, Maharashtra the supply of confident claims is large and the supply of written plans is small.

The part only you can do is the practical side, and it takes one conversation. Leave the tutor's name at the building desk so weekly entry is routine. Choose a table with room for paper, a calculator and a textbook open at once, because physics needs physical space in a way a language lesson does not. Agree the missed-session rule in writing before the monsoon tests it. IB home tuition in Peddar Road is at its most reliable when none of this is improvised.

  • Platform checks: identity, qualifications, level-specific teaching history
  • Ask what they taught last year and at which level
  • Ask how they teach a six-mark explanation answer
  • Be wary of a success rate, a promised grade or a superlative claim
  • Physics needs table space for paper, calculator and textbook together

The scientific investigation is the piece nobody starts early enough

Every Diploma Programme physics student produces an individual scientific investigation, and it is the part of the course most often left until the pressure is visible. It is marked on criteria that reward a focused research question, a method capable of producing data worth analysing, honest treatment of uncertainty, and a conclusion that engages with the physics rather than restating the graph. The students who struggle are rarely the weakest physicists. They are the ones who picked a question too broad to answer, or too simple to analyse, and discovered it three weeks before submission.

Research question choice is where a tutor adds the most value and where parents least expect to need one. A question has to be narrow enough to vary one thing reliably, rich enough that the relationship is not trivially linear, and possible with the apparatus the school actually has. Investigating how temperature affects resistance is workable. Investigating something that needs equipment no school lab holds is not, however interesting it sounds. A good tutor rejects two or three ideas quickly and explains why, which feels discouraging for a week and saves a month.

The analysis is where marks are won. Plotting the data is the easy part; justifying the line, propagating uncertainty into the gradient, deciding whether an outlier is a mistake or information, and saying plainly what the data does not support are the parts that separate a decent investigation from a strong one. Students also lose marks by writing a conclusion that would have been true whatever the data showed. A tutor can teach every one of these skills, read a draft and say this section does not address uncertainty at all. A tutor cannot design the investigation, cannot process the data, and cannot write the evaluation. That boundary is not negotiable and any tutor offering to cross it has told you everything about how they work.

The practical consequence for a Peddar Road family is that the useful conversation about the investigation happens in DP1, not DP2. A student with a research question agreed and a method tested before the long break walks into the second year with the hardest decisions made. A home tutor for Physics Mumbai families keep across both Diploma Programme years is valuable for exactly this reason: the investigation is a year-long object, and continuity is what stops it becoming a crisis.

  • A broad research question is the most common early mistake
  • Check the apparatus exists before committing to a method
  • Marks live in uncertainty propagation and honest evaluation
  • A conclusion true regardless of the data scores badly
  • A tutor may teach technique and read drafts, never design or write it
  • Agree the question in DP1, not three weeks before submission

What four weeks of IB physics home tuition in Mumbai should look like

Try a test at the end of the first month of IB physics home tuition in Peddar Road that has nothing to do with marks. Ask your child to explain one topic they covered recently, out loud, in two minutes, without a textbook. If the explanation has a direction to it, if it names a cause and follows it to an effect, the tutoring is working. If it is a list of remembered phrases, it is not, whatever the last test said. The second signal is the physics notebook: diagrams before algebra, labelled axes, units written down. The third is whether your child now distinguishes between a question they cannot do and a question they cannot start.

A term in, expect uneven movement and do not read it as failure. Topics the tutor worked through should show clear gains, the ones they have not reached will sit exactly where they were, and because a physics paper samples the whole course, the overall mark lags behind the real improvement. The genuinely informative measure is the diagnostic list from session one: how much of it has been crossed off, what has been added, and whether the remaining items are conceptual or mathematical. A Physics IB and IGCSE, Years 1-12 tutor Mumbai parents keep for two years is one who maintains that list rather than teaching to whatever is next in the book.

Over a full examination cycle, the truthful position is this. Consistent work with a well matched tutor usually produces visible change, and no honest person will tell you how much. The result depends on an externally marked paper, on five other subjects competing for the same evenings, on the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge deadlines colliding with physics revision, and on the student's state in the examination weeks. We do not guarantee grades and will not publish a figure, because any number we printed would be unverifiable by you.

When it is not working, the useful thing is to say so specifically and early. Physics mismatches have recognisable shapes: a tutor who is excellent at problems and never addresses written explanation, a tutor pitched at Higher Level with a Standard Level student, a slot that has drifted so late the child is asleep, or sessions that are pleasant and set no work. Tell us which it is and the replacement will be different in the right way. There is no lock-in and no penalty. Four weeks is the right time to make that call.

  • Month one test: a two-minute spoken explanation with no textbook
  • Look for diagrams before algebra and units written down
  • One term: worked topics improve, whole-paper marks lag behind
  • The diagnostic list, maintained and updated, is the real progress record
  • Name the specific mismatch and the replacement will be better aimed

Arranging IB physics home classes in Peddar Road

Send three things and the shortlist can be built the same day: the year group and level, a photograph of recent marked physics work, and two weekday slots that are genuinely possible rather than ideal. The marked work is the most valuable item, because the pattern of lost marks tells a physics tutor whether they are looking at a mathematics problem dressed as physics, a writing problem, or a genuine conceptual gap. A report line saying needs to explain reasoning more fully is also useful: it points straight at the command words.

Use the discovery call to test the two things that matter. Has this tutor taught your child's exact level recently, and is their travel plan real? A tutor who accepts a 6pm start on Dr G. Deshmukh Marg without asking where they are coming from, where they will park, or how the building entry works has not thought about November. The ones who ask about the signal at the top of the road and offer 7.30pm instead are usually the ones still arriving on time in February. The call is free and nothing is booked until you decide.

Session one should be a diagnostic rather than a lesson, and it should produce paper. The tutor works through problems across several topics, watches the sketching and the setting up rather than scoring answers, and finishes with a short written list in priority order. Searches for the best IB tutor in Peddar Road usually mean a parent wants someone to shortcut the comparison, and the written diagnosis is the only shortcut worth having, because it is evidence rather than assurance.

From there the rhythm of home tuition here is a fixed weekly slot, problem sets marked between sessions, a short written note every two to four weeks, timed paper sections as the examination series approaches, and an immediate conversation if anything slips. To begin, send the year group, the level, your building and your two realistic slots, and we will come back with two or three verified Physics profiles who have taught that level recently.

  • Send level, marked physics work and two realistic weekday slots
  • Test the travel plan on the call before you book anything
  • First session is diagnostic and ends in a prioritised written list
  • Problem sets marked between lessons, not reviewed verbally
  • Timed paper sections scheduled before the examination series
FAQs

Peddar Road tutoring — questions parents ask

Is Higher Level physics harder than Higher Level mathematics?+

They are hard in different ways and the combination is the real question. Higher Level physics demands mathematical fluency plus written explanation plus practical and data-handling skill, so a student who is strong at algebra but reluctant to write will find it harder than the mathematics. Higher Level mathematics is more abstract and less verbal. Students who take both often find each supports the other, since the calculus turns up again in the physics. What rarely works is three Higher Level subjects chosen because they looked impressive. Discuss the whole package with the Diploma Programme coordinator before committing.

My child understands the physics but cannot do the algebra. Which tutor do we need?+

A physics tutor who is willing to spend half the session on mathematics, and you should ask that question directly on the call. This is one of the two most common physics problems we see, and it responds quickly because the gap is procedural: rearranging multi-variable equations, handling powers and units together, working confidently with standard form. A tutor who answers more practice questions to a question about algebra has misread the problem. Some families run a short parallel maths arrangement for a term instead, which also works, but one tutor who sees both is usually simpler.

Can a physics tutor travel to Kemps Corner or Cumballa Hill for an evening slot?+

Yes, those are inside the normal working ring for this road. Peddar Road, Kemps Corner, Cumballa Hill and Tardeo form one catchment, and a tutor can hold consecutive lessons across them without the evening collapsing. Breach Candy, Babulnath, Grant Road and Walkeshwar sit at the edge and usually work. What we avoid is a weekday evening match from Thane or a Navi Mumbai node, because the journey that feels acceptable in June stops happening by December. Tell us your building and we will tell you honestly whether the tutor you want is realistically in range.

What do IB tuition fees in Peddar Road depend on for a science subject?+

Scarcity more than anything else, and we will not invent a price list. Diploma Programme physics at Higher Level is one of the scarcer profiles in South Mumbai, so it prices differently from a Middle Years Programme science request. Travel into this part of the island at peak hour is time out of the tutor's evening and is reflected in the rate. Session length, weekly frequency and whether you want investigation support all change the total. An examiner-trained teacher charges more than a capable graduate. Ask both shortlisted tutors directly and compare what each includes.

Do we need any lab equipment at home for physics home tuition?+

No, home tuition for physics needs no apparatus, and a tutor who asks you to buy a kit is doing something unusual. Practical skills for the Diploma Programme are built in the school laboratory, and what a tutor works on at your table is the thinking around it: designing a fair method, handling uncertainty, plotting and justifying a line, and evaluating what the data can and cannot support. A few tutors bring a simple demonstration object to make a concept concrete, which is fine. What your table does need is room for paper, a graphing calculator and an open textbook at the same time.

How much help can a tutor give with the scientific investigation?+

A tutor can teach the skills and challenge the plan, but cannot design or write any of it. They may explain a criterion, question whether a research question is answerable with school apparatus, teach uncertainty propagation and graph justification, and read a draft to say this evaluation does not address systematic error. They may not choose the question, process the data or write the analysis. The work has to be your child's own and the school takes authenticity seriously. A tutor offering to produce it for you has answered a different question about their character, and the conversation should end.

Should we move from Higher Level to Standard Level physics in DP1?+

Decide it with the school early in DP1 rather than late, and base it on the whole timetable. Moving down is usually possible in the first term and gets steadily harder; it is a real option, not a failure, and some students produce far better work across six subjects at Standard Level physics than they would have at Higher Level. The questions worth asking are whether the struggle is the physics or the mathematics, whether it is this year or a permanent ceiling, and what the student's intended university course actually requires. A diagnostic session usually answers the first of those.

Why does my child lose marks on explanation questions when the answer is right?+

Because the command word asked for reasoning and your child supplied a result. Explain, justify, compare and discuss each require a chain of statements, and a correct number at the end earns little if the steps are missing. The fix is mechanical and takes a few weeks: learn what each command word demands, write explanations in short linked sentences, and practise against mark schemes so the student sees how credit is actually allocated. Most students who do this gain marks across every paper, because the problem was never physics knowledge.

Can online physics tutoring handle graph work and data analysis properly?+

Yes, better than people expect, provided the tutor can see the paper. A document camera or a phone on a stand over the desk lets a tutor watch axes being chosen and a line being drawn, which is the whole requirement. Spreadsheets and shared graphing tools work well for uncertainty calculations. What online handles less well is a long timed paper, so the sensible pattern is the student writes it offline under timed conditions, photographs it, and the review happens on screen. For Higher Level work the gain in specialist quality usually outweighs the loss.

Do you cover Tardeo and Grant Road for physics as well as Peddar Road?+

Yes. Tardeo is treated as part of the same catchment, which matters because Aditya Birla World Academy sits there and a number of tutors already travel that stretch. Grant Road is both an area we cover and the station most tutors arrive through, so it is often the easiest address on this list to staff. Breach Candy, Babulnath and Walkeshwar are also workable. Beyond those we look carefully before promising anything, since a physics specialist pulled in from the suburbs for a single weekday lesson rarely sustains it for a full year.

The physics tutor explains well but sets no homework. Is that a problem?+

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons a match quietly fails. Physics improves through attempted problems, marked and then discussed, not through clear explanations absorbed passively. A student who understands everything in the session and attempts nothing between sessions will not improve, and parents often notice only when a mock arrives. Raise it directly with the tutor first, since many will simply correct it. If nothing changes within a fortnight, tell us and we will replace them. A pleasant hour with no work set is the easiest failure to miss.

Is a late evening physics slot realistic on this road during the monsoon?+

A 7.30pm start is realistic; a 6pm start often is not. The road's traffic in the evening peak is the single biggest scheduling constraint in South Mumbai, and July and August make it worse. Tutors arriving by train to Grant Road hold their slots through the monsoon far better than those driving the full stretch. Agree an online fallback for the same time, so a flooded road costs you the travel rather than the lesson. Physics in particular suffers from being rescheduled late at night, so protecting the regular hour matters more than finding a perfect one.
