IB Economics Tutors in India for the Portfolio and Paper 3

Economics in the Diploma Programme is assessed twice over: the portfolio of three written commentaries built during the course, and the papers in May. This page sets out both, what a home tutor may and may not touch in coursework, and how families across Indian cities arrange their weekly lessons.

Economics Tutors for the DP Portfolio in India

Parents look for IB Economics tutors in India for two reasons, and home tuition is usually the shape they want the help to take: an internal assessment (IA) portfolio that is drifting, or Paper 3. Diploma Programme (DP) Economics runs over four units, Introduction to economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and The global economy. The IA is a portfolio of three commentaries, each up to 800 words, written on published news articles, each drawing on a different syllabus unit and a different one of the nine key concepts. Paper 1 is extended response, Paper 2 is data response, and Paper 3, a policy paper, is sat by Higher Level (HL) candidates only. A tutor works on the skill behind all of that. The writing stays the student's own.

Matching

From a returned commentary draft to IB Economics tutors in India

Most Economics enquiries arrive with a document attached. A first commentary has come back covered in the teacher's comments, or a mock Paper 3 script stops halfway through the policy question. Send that document. It tells a tutor more in two minutes than a phone call manages in twenty, because the problem is rarely the one a parent has diagnosed at home. 1. You send a query or book a free consultation, saying whether the student is at Higher Level or Standard Level and which unit the first commentary drew on. 2. IB Gram asks about board, syllabus, level, school calendar, location and schedule, so the match is built around your real week rather than a generic one. 3. A shortlist comes back of tutors whose profiles are verified and whose Economics teaching matches the level and the stage the portfolio has reached. 4. A demo or trial session is arranged before the family commits, and the returned draft is the right material to put in front of it. 5. Lessons run at home, online or hybrid, and the mode can change later in the year without changing tutor. 6. If the fit is wrong, you ask for a different match. What a trial should show you is narrow and testable. Give the tutor the commentary and ask what they would do next with it. A weak answer talks about structure and word count. A strong one goes straight back to the news article: whether it carries enough economics for a commentary at all, which of the four units it genuinely belongs to, and which key concept the student can honestly argue rather than bolt on at the end. Ask the tutor to sketch the diagram they would expect to see in that commentary, and to say what a markscheme rewards in it. Availability stays conditional. A DP2 Economics specialist free at seven on a weekday evening in one particular locality may simply not exist this month, and it is better to hear that than to be matched with someone who teaches the subject loosely. Families searching for IB Economics tutors in India in the fortnight before a school portfolio deadline should expect a narrower shortlist than families who start early in DP1, when there is still time to move a unit around.

Send the marked commentary or mock script, not a description of it

State the level, the units already used, and the school's next deadline

Ask a trial tutor what they would do with the article, not the essay

Say whether you want sessions at home, online, or as a hybrid week

Expect a shorter shortlist near a deadline, subject to tutor availability

Higher Level, Standard Level and the policy paper only HL candidates sit

The Diploma Programme is a two-year course, DP1 and DP2, of six subjects taken from six groups. Three or four of them are studied at Higher Level, with 240 recommended teaching hours each, and the rest at Standard Level (SL), with 150. Each subject is graded 1 to 7. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE) combine for up to three further points, so the maximum is 45, and 24 points is the minimum for the diploma, subject to the IB's failing conditions. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) has to be completed alongside all of it. Economics occupies one of those six slots, and the level decision changes the assessment in one visible way. Paper 1 is extended response and Paper 2 is data response, and both levels meet them. Paper 3, a policy paper, is HL only. The ninety extra recommended hours at Higher Level are where the additional depth and that third paper live. The portfolio of three commentaries sits inside the course either way. Paper 3 is the component families hear about last and worry about first, usually in DP2. Part of the reason is ordinary timetabling: in a class that mixes HL and SL students, the SL cohort has nothing to gain from Paper 3 work, so it tends to be pushed to whatever time is left. Part of it is a wrong assumption. A student who has practised Paper 1 essays and Paper 2 data questions assumes those skills carry across whole. They carry across partly. The practical answer is not mystique but material. Past papers, markschemes and subject reports come through the school or the IB's official channels, and they show how marks are actually awarded rather than how a textbook says they should be. Ask the DP coordinator or the subject teacher what is available, and have the student attempt one under timed conditions early enough that a bad first attempt is still useful. An IB Economics HL tutor should be able to mark that attempt against the published markscheme and explain each decision in plain words.

Three or four subjects at Higher Level, 240 recommended teaching hours each

Standard Level subjects carry 150 recommended teaching hours

Every DP subject is graded on a 1 to 7 scale

TOK and the Extended Essay add up to three points, 45 maximum

24 points is the diploma minimum, subject to the IB's failing conditions

Paper 3, the policy paper, is sat by Higher Level candidates only

Subjects

The portfolio: three commentaries, 800 words, three different units

DP Economics has four units: Introduction to economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and The global economy. The internal assessment is a portfolio of three commentaries, each up to 800 words, each written on a published news article. Each commentary must draw on a different syllabus unit and a different one of the nine key concepts. The nine are scarcity, choice, efficiency, equity, economic well-being, sustainability, change, interdependence and intervention. Read that constraint twice, because it is arithmetic and most students meet it too late. Three commentaries, three different units out of four, three different concepts out of nine. The first commentary therefore spends a unit and a concept before the student has any sense of which article will turn up later in the year. A student who writes two pieces on Microeconomics has written one of them for nothing. The fix costs nothing: a sheet of paper on the desk with three rows, unit and concept filled in as each commentary is finished. The 800-word limit is the second thing students misread. It is not an essay length, it is a selection test. A commentary that opens with 250 words retelling what the news article said has given away a third of the space before any economics happens. The article needs a few lines, not a summary. What earns the space is the link between the theory in that unit and the specific thing that happened, the diagram, and the evaluation that follows from both. This is the part of IB Economics IA help that families most often ask for and most often misunderstand. A tutor can teach the student how to test an article, how to build a diagram that matches the claim, how to read a criterion and judge their own paragraph against it. A tutor cannot write the paragraph. Anyone offering IB Economics commentary help that involves touching the document itself should be refused on the spot.

1. Pick the article first, then check it against an unused unit and concept

2. Write the link: which theory in that unit the article actually illustrates

3. Draw the diagram before the prose, and label both axes properly

4. Draft inside 800 words, cutting the article summary to a few lines

5. Take the one permitted draft to the teacher and act on that feedback

6. Check all three commentaries use three different units and three concepts

Local coverage

Economics home tuition across India, from Gurugram to Bodakdev

In Delhi NCR the question is almost never whether a tutor exists but whether the evening holds. Families in South Delhi, Vasant Kunj and Chanakyapuri usually have the shortest hop; Dwarka, Faridabad and Ghaziabad sit further out. Between Gurugram (Gurgaon) and Golf Course Road, or between Noida, Sector 128 Noida and Greater Noida, evening traffic on a weekday can stretch a short trip well past what anyone planned, and a tutor who has to cross the city twice a week will eventually start rescheduling. An IB Economics tutor in Delhi is often willing to travel across the NCR for a two-hour Higher Level session and not for a one-hour top-up. Society gate entry is worth sorting out once, in advance, rather than at the gate every week. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region works the same way with harder edges. Bandra, Juhu, Andheri, Worli, Lower Parel and Malabar Hill are close together on a map and not always in practice, and Powai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Vashi and Kharghar are separate travel problems again. An IB Economics tutor in Mumbai who lives in Andheri and teaches in Thane on a Tuesday evening will be honest with you about the monsoon before you are. Home tuition here works best when the tutor is on the same side of the city; when they are not, a hybrid week is the sensible compromise rather than a second-best one. In Bengaluru the pattern is Whitefield, Sarjapur Road and HSR Layout on one axis and Indiranagar, Koramangala and Jayanagar on another, with Hebbal, Yelahanka, Electronic City and Kanakapura Road further out again. An IB Economics tutor in Bangalore teaching from Whitefield to Jayanagar is spending an evening in the car. Families looking for an IB Economics tutor in Hyderabad, an IB Economics tutor in Chennai, an IB Economics tutor in Pune or an IB Economics tutor in Kolkata run into the same arithmetic, and most settle on home sessions once a week with online support for draft work in between. Gujarat and the north need a different assumption. In Ahmedabad, an IB Economics tutor in Ahmedabad may cover Satellite, Bodakdev and SG Highway comfortably and Gandhinagar less so, while families in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot find local DP Economics teaching thin. The same holds across northern India beyond Delhi NCR, in Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Jaipur, Lucknow, Dehradun, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Kanpur, where a search for an IB Economics tutor near me tends to return commerce and board-exam tutors instead. That is the case where online is not a compromise. It is the only way to reach someone who has taught the portfolio before.

Delhi NCR: Gurugram, Golf Course Road, Noida and Dwarka reward a same-side tutor

Mumbai Metropolitan Region: Bandra, Powai and Thane are separate evening problems

Bengaluru: Whitefield, Sarjapur Road and Jayanagar rarely suit one travelling tutor

Gujarat: Satellite, Bodakdev and SG Highway are workable; Surat and Vadodara thinner

Northern India beyond Delhi NCR: Chandigarh, Jaipur and Lucknow usually end up online

Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata families often choose one home visit weekly

School ecosystem

How does the May session shape an Economics year in India?

It fixes every internal deadline that comes before it. IB schools in India almost all enter candidates for the May session, with November used by a small minority and by retake candidates, and May results are released in early July. Everything the family plans runs backwards from that point: the school's own portfolio deadlines first, then its DP2 mock examinations, which each school sets for itself, usually several months before May. That calendar collides with the Indian academic year, which runs roughly April to March. The DP2 year opens after the long break, and most schools want the Economics portfolio finished and submitted well before the mock period rather than alongside it. So the genuinely busy stretch for commentary work is earlier than parents expect, and the stretch families brace for, the last weeks before May, should be pure paper practice. A student still fixing a second commentary in that window has lost revision time that cannot be bought back. Families arrive naming schools such as Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Oberoi International School, Ecole Mondiale World School, Pathways World School, Stonehill International School, Indus International School, Oakridge International School, Mahindra International School, Good Shepherd International School and The International School Bangalore. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named here, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International Education or Pearson Edexcel. What these families share is a calendar, not a provider. Before you book anything, get four dates and one list out of the school. The dates: each commentary deadline, the final portfolio submission date, the DP2 mock window, and the point at which predicted grades are settled. The list: the command terms the subject uses, define, describe, explain, evaluate, discuss and to what extent, with an example of what each demands in an Economics answer. Ask the subject teacher, then the DP coordinator if the answer is vague. Home tuition planned against those dates is worth several times the same number of hours booked against a vague sense that things are not going well.

Ask for each commentary deadline and the final portfolio submission date

Ask when DP2 mock examinations fall; every school sets its own dates

Confirm that past papers, markschemes and subject reports are available

Get the command terms list and what each one demands in Economics

Plan the last weeks before May for paper practice, not coursework repair

Modes

Home lessons, online or hybrid for diagrams and commentary drafts?

Home lessons for the drawing, online for the reading, hybrid for most families in practice. A diagram built wrongly is caught fastest by someone sitting beside the student watching the pencil move; a news article discussed, or a markscheme read line by line, works just as well on a screen. A hybrid week takes both, and it is the arrangement that tends to survive a DP2 calendar. What a home tutor sees that a camera does not is the working. The axes labelled from memory and labelled wrongly. The curve drawn first and reasoned about afterwards. The diagram produced beautifully and then never mentioned again in the prose beside it. Home lessons also show the tutor the conditions the student actually studies in, which in a shared flat with a younger sibling is sometimes the real finding of the first month. Home tuition has costs too: an unlucky evening on the road kills a session outright, and a home tutor who is close by but has never taught the portfolio is worse than a distant one who has. Online lessons buy reach and give up presence. A shared screen with a news article open on it, annotated live, is a good way to teach article selection, and a graphics tablet handles diagrams adequately once both sides have practised with it. The real argument for online is supply. If nobody within reasonable travel of Vadodara, Dehradun or Kanpur has taught DP Economics, no amount of preference for home classes will produce one. Hybrid is what most families settle into by DP2: one home session a week for the heavy work, plus a shorter online session to look at a draft or mark a timed answer. It also rescues a good tutor who has moved across the city. Switching a week from home visits to online during a mock period, then back again afterwards, is normal and costs nothing except a conversation. Experienced IB Economics tutors in India often suggest that switch themselves once mock dates are announced. Decide it deliberately rather than letting the traffic decide it for you.

Home sessions catch the diagram being drawn, not just the finished version

Online suits article selection, markscheme reading and marking a timed answer

Hybrid weeks hold up best through mock periods and portfolio deadlines

A nearby tutor who has never taught the portfolio is the wrong trade

Home lessons show the study conditions, which often matter more than content

Is a one-to-one Economics tutor worth it in India, against a teacher, a batch or past papers?

Four ways families in India cover DP Economics, and they are not exclusive. The school subject teacher is the only one of the four permitted to give feedback on your child's draft commentary. A batch spreads the cost and gives a student other people's answers to hear. Past papers and markschemes through the school cost nothing and are always available. A one-to-one tutor buys diagnosis and pace, which is what a stalled portfolio or an unpractised Paper 3 usually needs.

Verification

Checking that an Economics tutor has actually taught the portfolio

IB Economics tutors in India reach a family's shortlist only once the profile behind them has been verified, and a profile should say which board, which subject and which level the tutor teaches. A platform can check what a person claims and confirm that it is documented. It cannot sit in the room and watch them teach your child, which is exactly why a demo or trial session exists before a family commits to anything. Your own checks take one conversation. Ask which of the four units they have supervised commentaries on, and listen for specifics rather than a general yes. Ask them to name the nine key concepts without looking anything up. Ask what they would do with an article that turns out not to carry a commentary, two days before a deadline. Ask how they mark a diagram. A tutor who has done this work answers all four quickly and unremarkably. Then the line that matters more than any of it. Every IB internal assessment is the student's own work. The IB's academic integrity policy allows a teacher to give feedback on one draft, and it does not allow anyone, tutor or parent, to write, rewrite or edit the student's submission. A tutor may teach the underlying skill, question the reasoning, point at a criterion and ask the student to reread their own paragraph against it. The school submits the work and runs it through similarity checking, and malpractice findings are handled by the IB, not by the school alone. So the warning signs are specific. A tutor who offers to tidy up the commentary before submission. A tutor who sends a model commentary on a similar article for the student to adapt. A tutor who asks for editing access to the document. None of that is a grey area, and the person who carries the consequence is the student, not the adult who offered. Say no, and ask for a different match.

Ask which units they have supervised commentaries on, and for detail

Ask them to name the nine key concepts without looking them up

Ask how they mark a diagram and what a markscheme rewards in one

A teacher may comment on one draft; nobody may edit the submission

Refuse model commentaries to adapt and any request for document access

Why an Economics commentary usually fails at the article, not the analysis

The article is not the starting point of the commentary. It is the commentary. A news piece reporting that prices have gone up, with no cause named, no policy mentioned and no numbers attached, cannot carry 800 words of economic analysis however good the student is. Yet students pick articles the way anyone picks anything under time pressure: the interesting one, the short one, the one from a site they already had open. A usable article has three things in it. An identifiable market or economy, so the student knows what they are drawing. Something that changed, so there is a before and an after. And somebody acting, a firm, a government, a central bank, a group of consumers, so there is a decision to evaluate. Test it in ninety seconds with two questions. Can you name the diagram before you write a word? Can you name a key concept the article genuinely serves, not one you could bolt on at the end of a paragraph? If either answer is no, put the article down. The student loses an hour finding another one and saves a weekend. The concept and unit constraint makes the choice sharper than it looks. Spending intervention and Macroeconomics on a budget story in DP1 is fine, until an excellent article on a trade dispute appears later in the year and the obvious concept for it has already gone. There are nine concepts and only three get used, so the constraint is real without being tight, provided the student is tracking it on paper. Almost nobody tracks it without being told to. One more thing, and it is a school-specific one. Check with the subject teacher how recent an article has to be and which sources the school will accept before the student begins drafting. That rule differs from school to school, a wrong answer is discovered late, and it is the cheapest question in this whole process to ask.

A usable article names a market, a change, and somebody making a decision

If you cannot name the diagram before writing, the article is wrong

Track unit and concept on paper as each commentary is finished

Confirm the school's rules on article recency and acceptable sources first

Cutting a bad article early costs an hour and saves a weekend

What should improve in Economics, and how soon, across India?

Diagrams improve first, usually within a few weeks, and evaluation improves last, over months. That order is worth knowing before you judge whether tuition is working. In an Economics answer the diagram is part of the argument rather than decoration beside it, and markschemes and subject reports, which come through the school or the IB's official channels, show how marks are awarded for it. Unlabelled axes, a curve shifted the wrong way, a diagram drawn correctly and then never referred to in the prose: each of those loses credit the student had the knowledge to earn. Command terms are the second thing to watch, and they move more slowly. Define, describe and explain reward different depths, and evaluate, discuss and to what extent are a different job again. A student who writes a solid explanation where the paper asked them to evaluate has not misunderstood the economics. They have answered a question nobody set. Six weeks of one-to-one work usually shows up as tidier diagrams and better-structured answers. It will not yet show as fluent evaluation, and any adult who tells you otherwise is selling something. The honest limits, said plainly. No tutor can guarantee a grade. Predicted grades are formed by the school, not by a tutor, though better work in front of the teacher is what informs them. Starting in DP2 with a term to go narrows what is realistically achievable, particularly on the portfolio, where the deadlines belong to the school and are not negotiable. And some students do not need a tutor at all; they need two fewer commitments and an earlier bedtime, which is a conversation worth having before booking anyone. Review the arrangement on evidence every few weeks, not on mood. Put a marked piece of work on the table, the tutor's note of what was covered, and the student's own account of what is still unclear. If the same error appears in three consecutive pieces, something in the teaching is not landing, and the honest response is to change the approach or change the tutor.

Diagrams tidy up within weeks; evaluation takes months of marked practice

A diagram never referred to in the prose earns less than it should

Predicted grades belong to the school; a tutor can only inform them

Review every few weeks using marked work, not the student's mood

The same error in three consecutive pieces means the approach must change

Starting with IB Economics tutors in India before the next portfolio deadline

Getting ready costs twenty minutes. Put together the most recent marked commentary with the teacher's comments on it, the school's portfolio deadline dates, the DP2 mock window if it is known, a note of which units and key concepts have already been used, and a recent timed script if there is one. Add the two or three evenings that genuinely work once school, travel and CAS commitments are accounted for. That last item saves more rescheduling than anything else on the list. A first session with a good tutor is unglamorous and specific. They read the article with the student and decide out loud whether it holds. They name the unit and the concept it serves. They ask the student to draw the diagram, in silence, and then discuss what is wrong with it. They look at a paragraph the student has already written and ask them to read it back against the criterion. And they agree what happens between now and the next session, which should be one concrete task rather than a reading list. What IB Gram does is bounded, and it is better to say so. Parents send a query or book a free consultation. IB Gram asks about board, syllabus, level, school calendar, location and schedule, then shortlists tutors whose profiles are verified and who match those needs. A demo or trial session can be arranged before the family commits. Lessons run at home, online or hybrid. If the fit is wrong, the family can ask for a different match. All of it remains subject to tutor availability and to the level and schedule involved. Your own part is small and it matters. Keep the deadlines visible, protect the slot, and stay out of the document. Families who book IB Economics tutors in India early in DP1 tend to use fewer hours overall than families who book in a panic in DP2, which is an argument for starting the conversation now even if you do not book anyone this month.

Have the marked commentary, deadline dates and used units ready to send

Name two or three evenings that work around school, travel and CAS

Expect a first session on the article, the diagram and one criterion

Agree one concrete task between sessions, not a reading list

Ask for a different match if the fit is wrong, at any point

IB Gram is an independent tutoring platform and is not officially affiliated with any school named on this page, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International Education or Pearson Edexcel.

FAQs

IB tutoring FAQs

How much can a tutor help with the Economics commentary without breaking the rules?+

A tutor can teach the skill and must not touch the document. The IB's academic integrity policy allows a teacher to give feedback on one draft, and it does not allow anyone, tutor or parent, to write, rewrite or edit the student's submission. So a tutor may explain what a criterion asks for, question whether the diagram supports the claim, or ask the student to reread their own paragraph and judge it themselves. The school submits the work and runs it through similarity checking. Any tutor offering to polish a commentary before submission should be declined, politely and immediately.

Can an IB Economics home tutor reach Powai or Andheri on a weekday evening?+

Often yes, but the tutor's own location decides it rather than goodwill. Within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, a tutor already living around Powai, Andheri or Juhu can hold a weekday evening slot reliably; one travelling from Thane or Navi Mumbai for a single hour will start rescheduling by the second month, and the monsoon shortens that patience further. Ask at matching where the tutor is based, not only whether they will come. A hybrid week, one home session plus one online, is the usual fix when the strongest available tutor lives across the city.

Should a parent be at home during Economics home tuition sessions?+

Present in the house, not in the room, is what works for a DP student. A sixteen or seventeen year old discussing a flawed commentary needs to be able to say they do not understand something without an audience. Set up a table in a room with a door and reasonable light, keep the household noise off that hour, and let the tutor teach. What you should ask for afterwards is a two-line note of what was covered and what the student owes by next week, which tells you far more than listening in.

Why is Paper 3 the one students underprepare?+

Because it arrives last and affects only part of the class. Paper 3 is the policy paper and it is sat by Higher Level candidates only, so in a class mixing HL and SL students it tends to be pushed to whatever time remains after the shared content. Students also assume that Paper 1 extended response practice and Paper 2 data response practice carry across whole, and they carry across only partly. The practical fix is to get past Paper 3s and markschemes through the school and attempt one under timed conditions early.

My child has written two commentaries on Microeconomics. What now?+

One of them has to be replaced, so start this week rather than after the next deadline. Each of the three commentaries must draw on a different syllabus unit and a different one of the nine key concepts, so two on the same unit cannot both count towards the portfolio. Choose which of the two is stronger, keep it, and plan the replacement against an unused unit from Introduction to economics, Macroeconomics or The global economy. Speak to the subject teacher straight away, because the school's internal deadlines are what constrain the rewrite.

What does an IB Economics tutor in Bangalore or Hyderabad typically charge?+

Fees are not published here, because they move with level, experience, travel and session length, and any single figure quoted on a page like this would mislead you. What you can compare fairly is the structure. Ask whether the fee is per session or per month, whether travel to Whitefield or Sarjapur Road is included, what happens to a session cancelled with a day's notice, and whether marking a timed script between sessions sits inside the fee or outside it. A two-hour Higher Level session and a one-hour SL top-up are different products.

Are my child's rushed diagrams actually costing marks in Economics?+

Almost certainly, and it is the fastest thing to fix. In Economics answers the diagram forms part of the argument rather than sitting beside it, and markschemes and subject reports obtained through the school show how marks are awarded. The common losses are dull ones: axes left unlabelled, a curve shifted in the wrong direction, or a perfectly good diagram that the prose never refers to. Six weeks of deliberate practice, drawing before writing, usually moves this visibly, which is why tutors start here.

There is no IB Economics tutor near me in Vadodara. What should we do?+

Go online for Economics and stop hunting locally. DP Economics teaching is thin outside the big clusters, so in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, or across northern India beyond Delhi NCR in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow or Dehradun, a local search mostly returns commerce and board-exam tutors who have never supervised a commentary. An online tutor who has taught the portfolio is worth more than a nearby one who has not. If you want some physical presence, ask about a hybrid arrangement during the portfolio months only.

Do we need an HL specialist, or will any Economics tutor do?+

For Higher Level, ask specifically, because of Paper 3. A tutor comfortable at Standard Level can usually teach the shared content and the portfolio well, since the commentaries sit in the course at both levels. The policy paper is the gap. At the trial, ask the tutor to mark a past Paper 3 answer against its markscheme and explain the decisions they made. If that answer is thin, they may still suit an SL student perfectly, and you should keep looking for your HL candidate.

We are two months from the May session. Is it too late to start?+

Not too late to help the papers, probably too late to rescue the portfolio. Internal deadlines are set by the school and sit well before May, so at this stage the useful work is timed practice on Paper 1, Paper 2 and, for Higher Level, Paper 3, marked against real markschemes. Expect gains in structure, command term accuracy and diagram discipline. Be sceptical of anyone promising more than that this late, and remember May results are released in early July, so the calendar is genuinely fixed.

The tutor is not working out after a month. What happens?+

You ask for a different match, and you should do it rather than waiting for the term to end. First check what the evidence says: look at three marked pieces and see whether the same error survives across all of them, because that points at the teaching rather than at the student. Share the specific mismatch when you ask, whether it is pace, level, the portfolio, or the student not speaking during sessions. A replacement is arranged subject to availability, and handing over the error log stops the new tutor restarting from nothing.

Ready to plan IB support?

Send the marked commentary, the level, the school's next deadline and the two or three evenings that actually work. IB Gram asks about board, syllabus, level, school calendar, location and schedule, then shortlists tutors whose profiles are verified and who match. A demo or trial session can be arranged before you commit, at home, online or hybrid, subject to tutor availability. If the fit is wrong, ask for a different match.
