Shortlisting Private IB and IGCSE Tutors Across Gurgaon

IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon are independent teachers a family hires directly, usually for home tuition at the family's own address, and the honest first question is how many of them your corridor actually holds. Depth varies. Sector 66 and Sector 67 on Southern Peripheral Road sit close to the corridors tutors already travel, so a shortlist of two or three profiles for a common subject is realistic. Push out to Sector 113 on Dwarka Expressway on a weekday evening and the same request may return one workable home tutor and one online specialist. This page is about that difference, about comparing fairly when the pool is thin, and about the private arrangement itself: confidentiality, the conflict of interest when a student's own school teacher takes them after hours, and what belongs in writing before the first session.

Matching

How does IB Gram build a shortlist of IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon?

You send a query or book a free consultation, and IB Gram works backwards from what you tell it: board, syllabus, level, the school's calendar, your sector and the evenings that are genuinely free. From that it shortlists verified profiles that match, arranges a demo or trial session, and swaps the match if the fit is wrong. The order matters, because the constraint that kills most matches is not subject knowledge. It is the slot. A tutor who has taught Diploma Programme (DP) Chemistry for years is no use to you if the only evening he can reach Sector 84 is the one your son has football. 1. Tell us the board and level exactly: Cambridge IGCSE Extended, Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Higher tier, Middle Years Programme (MYP) 4, DP1 Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL). 2. Tell us the school and its calendar, particularly the month its DP2 mock examinations fall, so the plan is built backwards from the real pressure point. 3. Tell us your address at sector or society level, and the two or three evening windows left after school buses and activities. 4. We shortlist verified profiles that match all three, usually two or three, sometimes one where the subject is rare or the corridor is thin. 5. You run a demo or trial session with the profiles you want to compare, and we tell you honestly how many the corridor can support. 6. You begin, or you ask for a different match, which costs you a week and nothing else. Everything here stays subject to tutor availability, which changes week to week. In September, when the new academic year settles and parents in New Gurgaon and along Dwarka Expressway all start looking for home tuition at once, the same request returns fewer names than it does in the quieter weeks after the May session ends.

Boards and tiers

Two boards in one house: IGCSE Grade 10 and the Diploma Programme

A Gurgaon household often runs two boards at once: one child in Cambridge IGCSE Grade 10, the elder in DP2. They are not the same job, and a private tutor who is strong at one is not automatically strong at the other. This is the single most common reason a family ends up with two tutors instead of one. IGCSE in Gurgaon means Cambridge IGCSE (Cambridge International Education) or Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, usually a two-year course across Grades 9 and 10, often followed by the IB Diploma Programme, A Levels, or a move to CBSE or ISC in Class 11. Cambridge grades most syllabuses A* to G, with some syllabuses available in 9-1 versions under different codes; Edexcel International GCSE grades 9-1. Many Cambridge subjects split into Core and Extended tiers, and the ceiling differs: Core tops out at grade C, Extended reaches A*. Tier entry is a real decision, and a tutor who has never sat with a family through it will not raise it. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) runs five years, MYP 1 to MYP 5, roughly ages 11 to 16, across eight subject groups. Every subject is assessed against four criteria, A to D, each scored 0 to 8; the criterion total out of 32 converts to a final 1-7 grade through IB grade boundaries. The Personal Project lands in MYP 5, the Community Project in MYP 3 or 4. MYP eAssessment in MYP 5, on-screen examinations plus ePortfolios, is optional, and each school decides whether to offer it. The Diploma Programme is two years, DP1 and DP2: six subjects from six groups, three or four at Higher Level (HL, 240 recommended teaching hours) and the rest at Standard Level (SL, 150 hours), each graded 1 to 7. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE) combine for up to 3 further points, so 45 is the maximum and 24 the minimum for the diploma, subject to the IB's failing conditions. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) must be completed as well. So an IGCSE to IB DP transition tutor is a specific request, not a general one.

Cambridge Core tops out at grade C; Extended reaches A*

MYP criteria A to D, each 0 to 8, totalling 32 before boundaries

DP: six subjects, three or four at HL, each graded 1 to 7

TOK and the Extended Essay contribute up to 3 points towards 45

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is graded 9-1, on its own series

Personal Project in MYP 5, Community Project in MYP 3 or 4

Subjects

Subject depth narrows a shortlist faster than your address does

IGCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Physics, MYP Maths and DP Economics SL are taught widely enough that most corridors hold more than one credible private tutor. DP Higher Level Chemistry with Internal Assessment (IA) support, IGCSE Business Studies coursework, or a Group 2 language at HL will often return a single name, or none within travelling distance of your sector. Parents sometimes ask for an international board tutor in Gurugram and mean nothing more specific than that. Push the request one level down, to the syllabus and the tier, and the shortlist changes completely. Ask any shortlisted tutor to describe the assessment rather than the topic. For Cambridge, that means the paper structure of the exact syllabus your child is entered for, whether the entry is Core or Extended, and which paper carries the non-calculator or practical work. For Edexcel, it means the January and May/June series and what 9-1 grading does to a borderline student. For the Diploma Programme, it means how HL and SL differ in that subject, the IA criteria as the subject guide words them, and the fact that the Extended Essay is supervised at school rather than by an outside tutor. Command terms are the quickest test of all. Define, describe, explain, evaluate, discuss and to what extent each set a different depth of answer, and a student who writes a description where the question said evaluate loses marks he knew the content well enough to earn. A tutor who teaches command terms from the first lesson is working on marks. A tutor who only re-explains the chapter is working on content the school has already covered. Past papers, markschemes and subject reports come through the school or the IB's official channels, and they show exactly how marks are awarded. Ask what the tutor will do with them and when. The week before mocks is late. If the subject is rare, decide early whether you want the nearest IB and IGCSE tutor in Gurgaon or the right one, because those are frequently different people.

Ask about paper structure and components, not the chapter list

Core or Extended entry changes the ceiling, so confirm the entry first

Command terms: define, describe, explain, evaluate, discuss, to what extent

IA support means feedback on drafts, never writing the student's work

Rare HL subjects often hold one candidate per corridor, or none

Local coverage

How deep is the home tuition shortlist in your corridor of Gurgaon?

Gurgaon is not one market for tutors. It is three or four travel plans laid over each other, and the practical question is how many home tutor profiles your corridor can hold at the hour you need. The answer changes over a few streets. Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) is usually the deepest of the three corridors for IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon. Sector 66, Sector 67, Sector 68, Sector 69 and Sector 70 sit close together, so a tutor teaching in Sector 67 at five can reasonably take a second student in Sector 69 at seven. Tata Primanti and the neighbouring sectors pair well inside one evening. Push south to Sector 72, Ansal Esencia or Bhondsi and the pairing breaks: the trip stops being a hop and becomes the whole evening, so fewer tutors will quote for it, and those who do will want a fixed weekly slot they can protect. New Gurgaon runs on the same logic with wider gaps. Sector 82, Sector 83, Sector 84, Sector 85 and Sector 86 are dense enough that IB and IGCSE private tutors in New Gurgaon often build a two-student evening inside Vatika India Next or between neighbouring sectors. Sector 89 and Sector 90 are workable. Kherki Daula and Pataudi Road addresses are where the shortlist thins, because a tutor crossing back at eight has lost the slot after yours. Families in Godrej Air usually do better asking for an early evening than a late one. Dwarka Expressway is the newest corridor and the least predictable. Sector 102, Sector 103, Sector 104 and Sector 106 are reachable on most evenings. Sector 108, Sector 109, Sector 110 and Sector 113 stretch the plan, and families in Sobha City, Godrej Summit and ATS Kocoon regularly find that IB and IGCSE private tutors on Dwarka Expressway offer weekends at home and midweek online rather than five weekday evenings. That is a real constraint of Gurugram (Gurgaon), Haryana, not a service failure, and it is far better said in advance than discovered in October.

IB and IGCSE private tutors on Southern Peripheral Road often pair two nearby sectors in one evening

Sector 72, Ansal Esencia and Bhondsi need a protected fixed weekly slot

Vatika India Next and Godrej Air: ask for early evening, not late

Sector 108 to Sector 113 often works as weekend home classes plus midweek online

Society gate entry and visitor registration add time to every first visit

School ecosystem

When do Gurgaon families compete for the same tutors?

Twice a year the demand curve spikes, and both times it is the school calendar doing it. The first wave is September, once the new academic year has settled, the first unit tests are back, and DP1 students discover that Higher Level is not Grade 10 with extra homework. The second is the run-up to the DP2 mock examinations, which each school sets for itself, usually several months before the May session. If you start looking in those weeks, expect a shorter shortlist and less choice of slot. Families at Pathways World School, Aravali, Pathways School Gurgaon, Lancers International School, Scottish High International School, GD Goenka World School, Heritage Xperiential Learning School, The Shri Ram School, Aravali and DPS International Edge are all working to their own school's internal deadlines, and those deadlines cluster in the same months. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named here, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International Education or Pearson Edexcel. Most Gurgaon IB schools enter students for the May session; November is used by a minority of schools and by retake candidates. May results are released in early July. Cambridge series run in February/March, a series offered only in India, plus May/June and October/November. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE series run in January and May/June. Write your own child's series down before you call anybody, because a tutor planning for May/June and a school entering for February/March are weeks out of step, and nobody notices until revision has already started late. The quiet weeks are the ones just after a session ends and the early part of the winter break. A family that begins home tuition in July, with no test in sight, gets first pick of slots and a tutor with time to diagnose properly. A family that begins the week before mocks gets whoever happens to be free.

September and the pre-mock weeks are the two crowded hiring windows

Each school sets its own DP2 mock dates, months before the May session

Cambridge series: February/March in India, May/June, October/November

Edexcel International GCSE series: January and May/June

May results are released in early July, which frees evening slots

Starting in a quiet week buys a better slot and a proper diagnosis

Modes

Home classes, online or hybrid: what should a Gurgaon family widen to?

Home tuition is the default here, and for good reason. The tutor comes to you, the student stays in his own room with his own folder of school handouts, and nobody loses ninety minutes to traffic on Southern Peripheral Road at six in the evening. A home tutor also sees what a screen hides: a Grade 10 student with no working surface, or a DP2 student whose phone sits face-up on the table through every session. Online is the honest answer when the corridor cannot supply what the subject needs. An IB and IGCSE online tutor in Gurgaon may be the only person teaching a particular Higher Level option, and a live lesson with a shared whiteboard and an annotated past paper works well for problem-solving, markscheme walkthroughs and essay feedback. It works less well for a younger MYP student who needs somebody sitting beside him, and for subjects where a physical setup matters. Hybrid is what most families in Sector 109 and Sector 113 end up with, often without planning it: a home session at the weekend when travel is easy, plus a midweek online session for doubt-solving before a class test. It keeps the relationship personal and the schedule realistic, which is more than can be said for five weekday evenings that nobody can actually protect. The decision rule is short. If your corridor holds two or three credible home tutors for the subject, compare them and choose. If it holds one, and that one is wrong on level, on slot or on the trial, widen to online rather than settling. A mediocre home tutor at a convenient hour costs more across a year than an inconvenient hour with the right specialist. And a slot that fights the family calendar gets cancelled in the end, whatever mode it runs in.

Home tuition first: no travel for the student, school folder within reach

Online reaches a specialist your corridor simply does not hold

Hybrid: home classes at the weekend, online midweek for doubt-solving

Younger MYP students usually need somebody sitting beside them

Widen the search before lowering the standard on level or subject

Compare

How do private home tutors in Gurgaon compare with a batch or an online group class?

A home tutor suits a student who needs the pace set by his own gaps and a syllabus matched exactly to his level and tier. A coaching centre batch suits a self-directed student who wants structure and a lower cost per hour. A live online group class suits families chasing a specialist the corridor does not hold. A tutor found through neighbours suits a family who wants somebody already known in their own society. The trade-off that decides it is usually how much of the lesson belongs to your child alone.

How do private home tutors in Gurgaon compare with a batch or an online group class?
What mattersHome tutor through IB GramCoaching centre batchLive online group classTutor found by word of mouth
Attention per studentThe whole session belongs to one student, so the pace follows his own gaps.Shared with the room; a quiet student can sit through a full term unnoticed.Shared, though chat and breakout questions give a confident student a way in.One to one as well, so attention depends entirely on that individual tutor.
Syllabus and tier fitMatched to Core or Extended, HL or SL, and the school's own scheme of work.Built for the commonest syllabus in the room, so tier differences get averaged out.Often board-specific, though HL and SL students frequently share one class.Depends on what the tutor happens to know; ask which syllabus code he has taught.
Travel and time in GurgaonNo travel for the student; the tutor absorbs the evening traffic instead. Two or three trips a week for the family, heavy from Sector 113 or Bhondsi. No travel at all, which is why it holds up best on the outer corridors.Usually close by already, sometimes the same society, so travel is rarely an issue.
Scheduling flexibilityOne fixed weekly slot, movable by agreement, limited by the tutor's other students.A timetable set by the centre; you fit around it or you miss the class.Late evening slots are easier, and a session can run even during a travel week.Flexible in principle, though informal arrangements slip more often than booked ones.
Familiarity with your societyThe tutor may be new to your gate, so allow time for visitor registration. Not relevant, since the student travels to the centre instead. Not relevant, because nobody comes to the door at all.Often already teaching in your tower, so gate entry and the slot are settled.
How the tutor is chosen and checkedProfiles are verified for board and level before the shortlist reaches you.The centre assigns the faculty; you rarely choose the individual teacher.Platform vetting varies widely, so ask exactly what was verified and by whom.Backed by one family's first-hand experience, which is real evidence but a small sample.
Trial before committingA demo or trial session can be arranged first, subject to tutor availability.A demo class is common, though it shows the teacher rather than your child's fit.Trial classes are usually easy to arrange and easy to walk away from.Awkward to refuse after a neighbour's recommendation, which is its real cost.
Coursework and IA support within integrity rulesFeedback on the student's own drafts against the criteria, never writing any part.Rarely handled in a batch, since coursework tasks differ from student to student.Workable for feedback on a shared screen if the tutor knows the criteria well.Varies; ask explicitly what the tutor will and will not do with coursework.
Feedback to parentsA short note every few weeks, and you are in the house during the session.Periodic test reports, usually with no comment on your own child specifically.Written summaries and lesson recordings where the platform provides them.Informal conversations, frank but leaving no record you can check later.
Cost structurePer session or monthly, with one tutor's hour bought entirely for one student.Usually the lowest cost per hour, since one teacher covers a full room.Lower than one to one, priced per course or per month rather than per hour.Often informal and negotiable, which also means unclear when something changes.
Verification

How a private tutor is verified before the first home visit

IB Gram shortlists tutors whose profiles are verified, which means the board and level experience shown on a profile has been checked before that profile reaches you. Treat that as the floor and not the ceiling. Somebody is going to be alone in your home with your child, and you are entitled to do your own checks without apologising for them. Ask for photo identification at the door on the first visit and register the visit at your society gate the way you would for anyone else. In Tata Primanti, Sobha City or Vatika India Next, gate entry and visitor registration take a few minutes, so warn the tutor beforehand instead of leaving him at the boom barrier while the session clock runs. Keep the study space in a common area with the door open. A home tutor working in a family room is normal practice, not a sign of suspicion, and any experienced tutor will expect it. Then check the teaching claim itself. Send the tutor a marked school test or a past paper answer of your child's before the trial, and ask what mark he would give it and why. A specialist answers in the language of the assessment: the criterion, the command term, the markscheme point that was missed. A general tutor says the answer needs more detail. Two questions parents forget. First, does this tutor currently teach at your child's school, and if so, does he teach your child's class? Second, what will he do with what he learns about your child? Those are the two places a private arrangement goes wrong, and both are easier to raise before money changes hands than after. A tutor who is uncomfortable answering either one has answered.

Photo identification at the door, and normal society visitor registration

Lessons in a common area with the door open, as standard practice

Ask the tutor to mark one of your child's past answers before the trial

Ask directly whether the tutor teaches at your child's school

Agree what the tutor may and may not say about your child to others

What does a private tutoring arrangement actually mean in Gurgaon?

A private tutor is an independent teacher your family engages directly, outside the school, at your own cost, and answerable to you rather than to the school. That is the whole definition. A school's remedial period, its subject clinic and its own teachers' extra classes are something else entirely: they sit inside the school's authority, follow the school's scheme of work and report to the school. IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon work alongside all of that, never inside it. The distinction matters most when the private tutor is your child's own subject teacher. It happens, and it is worth naming plainly. A teacher who teaches your daughter in class, assesses her internal work, and is paid by you in the evening is holding three roles at once, one of which involves marking work he has been paid to help produce. Even where everyone acts in good faith, the family has lost the independent second opinion an outside tutor exists to give. Some schools do not permit the arrangement at all. If your school does and you still want it, ask the coordinator in writing first and keep the reply. An independent tutor avoids the question altogether. Confidentiality is the second thing to settle. Your child's difficulties are yours to disclose, not the tutor's. A private tutor should not discuss your child with other families in your society, should not pass around your child's work as a sample for other students, and should not approach the school on your behalf unless you have asked him to. Then write down what you agree. Not a contract drawn by a lawyer, just an email both sides hold: subject, board and level, session length, days and times, the notice period for cancelling from either side, how fees are structured, whether lessons run at home or online, how progress will be reported, and a line confirming that either side can end the arrangement with reasonable notice.

A private tutor answers to you, not to the school or its timetable

A child's own class teacher tutoring them removes the independent second opinion

If you still want that, ask the school coordinator in writing first

Confidentiality: your child's difficulties are yours to disclose, nobody else's

Put subject, level, slot, notice period and reporting into one email

What four to six weeks of private tuition should show

No tutor can guarantee a grade, and any private tutor who offers one has told you something useful about himself. Parents search for the best IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon and land on lists nobody can verify, so judge the arrangement instead of the label. What a working arrangement shows inside four to six weeks is narrower and far more checkable: the student knows what marks are actually awarded for, brings specific doubts to the session rather than a whole chapter, and starts writing answers that match the command term in the question. Ask for a short written note every few weeks. Two lines will do: what was covered, what the student can now do unaided, what is still weak. A tutor who cannot produce that is not tracking anything, and neither are you. Be equally honest about the limits of a thin shortlist. If your corridor holds one candidate for DP Higher Level Physics and the trial was average, three more weeks will not turn average into right. Change early. Families who wait for the mock results spend the following term doing remedial work under time pressure, which is the most expensive way to buy tutoring. And some students do not need a tutor at all. A DP1 student scoring reasonably on five hours of sleep needs the calendar fixed first. A Grade 9 student two months into IGCSE needs time before anybody concludes anything. A student with a good teacher who has simply never opened a past paper needs a habit, not a hire. An honest shortlist sometimes ends with nobody being hired this term and a review after the next report. Availability stays conditional throughout, since slots move when a tutor's other students change their timetables, so plan the term around an hour you can protect rather than chasing the best-looking profile into an hour that does not exist.

Weeks one and two: a diagnosis and an error log, not new chapters

Weeks three to six: doubts get specific, answers match the command term

A two-line written note every few weeks beats a monthly phone call

An average trial does not improve with three more weeks of patience

Sometimes the right answer is to review again after the next report

Starting with IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurgaon

Have four things ready before you send the query and the first shortlist will be noticeably better. The exact board and level, written the way the school writes it. The last report card or unit test, ideally with the teacher's marking still on it. Your child's real weekly timetable, including the school bus, sport and anything that eats a Saturday. And your address at sector or society level, because that decides who can reach you and at what hour. The first session is a diagnosis, not a lecture. A good tutor spends it finding out what the student can do unaided: a past paper question or two under something close to real conditions, a look at the school's last test, a conversation about how the student revises now. He should leave with a plan for the next four weeks, and you should know what that plan is. A demo or trial session can be arranged before you commit, subject to tutor availability. If the fit is wrong afterwards, say so and ask for a different match. Parents searching for IB and IGCSE private tutors near me in Gurgaon often feel they have used up their one chance by choosing wrong. They have not. Changing a match in week two is ordinary, and it is far cheaper than changing one in March. If your corridor is thin this month, take a strong online specialist for the term and revisit home classes in the quieter weeks after the session ends. Families in Kherki Daula and along Pataudi Road do exactly this every year, and their children do not learn less for it.

Board, level and syllabus exactly as the school writes them

The last report card or marked unit test, marking still visible

The real weekly timetable, including bus, sport and Saturdays

Your sector or society, which decides who can reach you and when

One question you want answered during the trial session itself

FAQs

IGCSE tutoring FAQs for Gurgaon

How many IB and IGCSE private tutors will I actually have to choose from?+

Usually two or three, and sometimes one. The number depends on the subject, the level and your corridor rather than on how many IB and IGCSE tutors in Gurgaon exist in total. A common subject at IGCSE level in Sector 67 will produce a genuine choice. Higher Level Chemistry with Internal Assessment support in Sector 113, on a Wednesday at seven, may produce one workable profile and one online specialist. We will tell you which situation you are in before you start comparing, because a fair comparison between two real options is useful and a staged comparison between one option and a filler is not.

Will a tutor travel to Sector 113 on Dwarka Expressway on a weekday evening?+

Some will, but the shortlist is shorter and the slot is less flexible. A home tutor who takes a Sector 113 or Sector 110 student on a weekday evening usually cannot take another student afterwards, so he will want one fixed weekly slot he can plan around and will resist moving it. Weekend home classes are easier to arrange along Dwarka Expressway, including in Sobha City, Godrej Summit and ATS Kocoon. Many families there settle on a weekend session at home plus a midweek online session, which survives a full term better than a weekday slot that keeps slipping.

Can I trial two tutors without unsettling my child?+

Yes, provided you tell him what is happening. Say that two teachers are coming to try a session and that he is helping you decide, which most teenagers quite enjoy. Keep both trials inside the same week so the comparison is fair, give both the same material, and ask both to mark the same past answer. Do not run four trials. By the third one the student is performing rather than learning, and you are comparing charm. Then ask him a single question afterwards: which lesson did you understand more of? His answer is worth more than either tutor's pitch.

My child's own school teacher has offered private tuition. Is that a problem?+

It is a conflict of interest, and it is worth thinking through before you agree. The same person would be teaching the class, assessing internal work and being paid by you privately, which leaves the family without the independent second opinion an outside tutor exists to provide. Some schools do not permit it at all. If you want to go ahead anyway, ask the school's coordinator in writing first and keep the reply. An independent private tutor removes the question entirely, and in a household running both IGCSE and the Diploma Programme that separation is usually worth more than the convenience.

Should anything be put in writing before lessons start?+

Yes, and an email is enough. Write down the subject, board and level, the session length, the days and times, how fees are structured, the notice period for cancelling from either side, whether lessons run at home or online, and how progress will be reported to you. Add one line saying either side can end the arrangement with reasonable notice. This is not distrust. It is what stops a disagreement in February about a missed session from becoming a reason to stop tuition in the middle of a Diploma Programme year, which is the worst month to change anything.

What happens if a home tuition session is missed because of traffic or illness?+

Agree the rule at the start rather than after it happens. The usual arrangement is that a session cancelled with reasonable notice by either side gets rescheduled, and that a tutor delayed by traffic on Southern Peripheral Road either runs late into the slot or makes up the time later that week. Be realistic about how many moved sessions your week can absorb: a family with two children and a Saturday sport commitment cannot absorb many. If a tutor misses sessions regularly, that is not a traffic problem, it is a fit problem, and you can ask for a different match.

Will the tutor keep my child's difficulties confidential?+

That is yours to set, and it should be said out loud in the first week. A private tutor should not discuss your child with other families in your society, should not show your child's work to other students as an example, and should not contact the school unless you have asked him to. In a society such as Vatika India Next or Tata Primanti, where one tutor often teaches several children in the same towers, this matters more than people expect. Ask the question directly before the first session, because the answer tells you a great deal about how the tutor works.

The tutor is not working out after three weeks. What do I do?+

Ask for a different match, and do it now rather than after the next test. Tell us what specifically is not working: the level is wrong, the student is not talking, the sessions repeat what school already covered, the slot keeps moving. That detail makes the second shortlist better than the first was. Changing in week three costs you a week. Changing in the month before mocks costs you the revision plan. Nobody takes it personally, and students usually settle faster with a second tutor because they now know what a session ought to feel like.

Why is it harder to find a tutor in September?+

Because everybody starts looking in the same fortnight. The new year has settled, the first unit tests have come back, and DP1 students have realised that Higher Level is a different kind of work. IB and IGCSE private tutors in Gurugram fill their evening slots quickly in that window, and a second wave arrives before the DP2 mock examinations, which each school fixes for itself several months ahead of the May session. If you can start in a quieter month, you will get a better slot and a tutor with time to diagnose properly rather than one joining mid-crisis.

No home tutor is free in Sector 86, New Gurgaon. Should I take an online one?+

If the online tutor is right on subject and level, yes, at least for this term. A strong online specialist beats a nearby home tutor who has never taught your child's level, and that is the trade most families around Sector 86, Sector 89 and Pataudi Road end up making at some point. Ask for a hybrid plan: online midweek, plus a home session at the weekend if any tutor can reach you then. Revisit home classes in the quieter weeks after the exam session, when evening slots across New Gurgaon open up again.

Can one tutor take both my IGCSE child and my Diploma Programme child?+

Sometimes, for Maths and the sciences, and it is worth asking, because one tutor visiting once for two students is far easier on a weekday evening. But check the level claim separately for each child. Teaching Cambridge IGCSE Extended well and teaching Higher Level Diploma Programme content well are different jobs, and a tutor who admits to being stronger at one is telling you something useful. If the shortlist can only serve one child properly, serve the exam-year child first and plan the second tutor for the next term.
