IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Yanam

Yanam belongs administratively to Puducherry yet sits entirely inside Andhra Pradesh, so a family here deals with two education worlds before even raising the subject of the IB or Cambridge. For private home tuition, the workable answer is a live video lesson: IB and IGCSE tutors in Yanam from IB Gram teach one to one at the student's own desk, picked for the exact course, and no tutor travels to Yanam houses. French, a language with real roots in this town, can be taught too.

  • Every tutor is chosen for the syllabus code and level, including French B and French ab initio where asked for
  • Lessons are on video; home visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, never in Yanam
  • The first lesson is free, so you see the teaching first
  • Independent of every school, board and of the IB itself

IB & IGCSE in Yanam

An IB or IGCSE education from a former French trading post on the Godavari

Yanam is a small town of roughly thirty square kilometres at the point where the Koringa River meets the Godavari delta, about nine kilometres from the Bay of Bengal. France set up a trading post here in 1723, gave it up in 1727 and took it back in 1731. Power passed to India de facto in 1954, a treaty followed in 1956 and the legal transfer came in 1962. Today Yanam is one of the regions of the Union Territory of Puducherry, reached by road from Kakinada, about 27 kilometres away, and it elects its own member to the Puducherry Legislative Assembly even though every road out of town enters Andhra Pradesh.

That odd geography leaves its mark on daily life. Telugu is the everyday language, English and French are also official, and people sometimes call the local mix Frelugu. A 15th-century Venkateswara temple, the Vishnalayam, stands in the same town as French-era buildings. For schooling, the practical fact is simple: we have not confirmed any school in Yanam that teaches the IB or sits Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE papers.

So families looking for IB and IGCSE tutors in Yanam are usually in one of a few situations. A child may study at a school in Rajahmundry, Kakinada or Visakhapatnam and come home for holidays. A family may be thinking about a move for Class 9 or Class 11. Or a student on a local syllabus wants one IGCSE subject, often Mathematics, French or a science, to widen choices for engineering, medicine or study abroad.

All of these are served by video. Tutors are based in India, teach on Indian Standard Time and work one to one; nobody visits Yanam for lessons, because in-person home tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. IB Gram has no link with any school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and tutors coach without writing internal assessments, essays or coursework for students.

At a glance

  • IB tutoring for PYP, MYP and Diploma, including French B and French ab initio
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, including French as a foreign language
  • Live private video lessons with past papers marked in detail
  • A free trial lesson, then a rate set out in writing
  • No in-person visits in Yanam; those exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Yanam school years

Because Yanam has no school running these programmes, families meet them from outside: a school in another city, a planned move or private study. Each entry below says what the programme asks and what tutoring adds for a student here.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Children learn through six themed inquiries each year and complete a student-led Exhibition at the end. No external examination is involved, so good tutoring concentrates on comfortable reading, secure number sense and explaining an idea aloud.

A Yanam child on PYP almost always attends a school in another coastal city; weekly online sessions keep reading and number work steady across the long breaks spent at home.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Each subject is marked against set criteria, and students finish with a Personal Project they design alone. The marks are often lost in the way an answer is framed, not in the facts behind it.

For a student used to Telugu-medium or state-syllabus questions, an early introduction to criteria-based answers in Science and Mathematics makes a later MYP school change far smoother.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Internal Assessments feed most subject grades, and papers are sat in May or November.

Yanam Diploma students study elsewhere and return at Sankranti or Dasara wanting a specialist, often in a Higher Level science or in French.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Combines Diploma courses with a career-related study, a reflective project and language development. Very few Indian schools run it.

We know of no CP school near Yanam. Tutors support the Diploma courses inside the programme for students who follow it elsewhere.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Yanam school timetables

Yanam lessons are online and one to one. The choice is about rhythm, so three workable patterns follow.

One fixed hour a week

A regular video lesson with a shared whiteboard, placed after school and any tuition so the day stays manageable.

  • A sensible first step for IGCSE Mathematics, French or a Diploma science
  • One tutor builds on last week's corrections
  • Questions come from your board's recent past papers
  • Movable around Sankranti, Dasara and school tests

Two sessions with a written trail

Two lessons a week through a term, each followed by a short note, with a fuller review about monthly.

  • Parents can see exactly what was covered
  • Well suited to PYP and MYP routines
  • Re-planned after each mock or unit test
  • A third session can be added before exams

A compact pre-exam push

Three or four weeks of timed papers with fast marking, placed before the May or November session.

  • Marked against the board's published scheme
  • Repeated errors logged and retested
  • Best booked around a month before papers
  • Also fits private IGCSE candidates

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Yanam

01

What does schooling look like in Yanam, a Puducherry town surrounded by Andhra Pradesh?

  • Administered by Puducherry; surrounded by Andhra Pradesh
  • Local schools: state-board and CBSE patterns, Telugu and English medium
  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Yanam itself
  • Common needs: holiday support, bridging before a move, a private IGCSE subject such as French

Yanam's administration answers to Puducherry, hundreds of kilometres to the south, while its neighbours, markets and relatives are in Andhra Pradesh's Godavari districts. That split makes education questions slightly unusual. Families watch both the territory's rules and the state's, and a student heading to college often has to think about which set of admission norms applies.

The schools themselves are local-board and CBSE, in Telugu and English medium, and we have not confirmed any that teaches the IB or sits Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Parents should ask each school directly which board it follows, because the enclave's status can make assumptions unreliable.

Because nothing international is on the doorstep, tutoring for IB and IGCSE in Yanam mostly serves three groups. Children enrolled at a coastal-city school who study at home in holidays. Families planning a school move. And students who add a single IGCSE subject privately, for which French is unusually popular here given the town's past.

The common need is a tutor who has handled the exact paper. A teacher experienced in the local board may be excellent, but the way an IB command term is used, or how IGCSE examiners split marks, takes specific knowledge that a Yanam student cannot easily find nearby.

02

State board, CBSE, IGCSE or IB: which suits a student in Yanam?

A local-board education leads to the Class 10 and Class 12 public exams and to the entrance routes tied to them. It is familiar, widely taught and strong in structured content.

CBSE follows national textbooks and suits students who aim at central entrance tests. IGCSE and IB rest on different habits: applying ideas to unfamiliar data, writing out explanations, carrying out practical work and, in the Diploma, sustained independent research.

No board is universally better. A student who does well on memory and who expects to study in the region may be content on the local route. A student who enjoys open questions, or hopes to apply overseas, has more to gain from IGCSE or IB. Because IGCSE can be entered privately, a family in Yanam can test it without changing schools.

There is one extra consideration for Yanam: college admission in Puducherry institutions and in Andhra Pradesh institutions follows different local rules, so check the domicile and equivalence position for both before committing to a path.

03

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for a student in Yanam?

  • Level: Higher Level or Extended versus Standard or Core
  • Specialism: French oral, HL sciences, Additional Mathematics
  • Plan shape: weekly steady or compact exam block
  • A written quote after the free lesson; no price list online

A Yanam family pays for the tutor's depth, the subject and the hours, and not for the town's postcode, since every lesson is online. We do not print a rate card. After the free trial you get a written figure with the reasons behind it, so there is nothing to decode.

Several things shift the quote. A tutor who has marked IB Higher Level papers costs more than a generalist because that marking insight shapes every answer the student writes. French at the oral stage and Higher Level sciences need specialists. A weekly hour is priced differently from an intensive exam block.

Length of commitment matters too. A term plan allows a tutor to see patterns in a student's errors and correct them, and we will say in writing how any package works. Travel costs nothing, because nobody travels.

Ask any provider what syllabus the tutor has taught, who marks practice work and how progress is reported. The replies reveal value better than a per-hour figure does.

04

Is online home tuition better than a tuition centre or a private teacher in Yanam?

It depends on what is being taught. Yanam and nearby Kakinada have tuition centres and private teachers who prepare students well for local-board exams and entrance tests. For those syllabuses they are a good choice.

For an international syllabus the local supply is thin. A centre rarely has an IB or IGCSE specialist on the staff, and a good private teacher may still be unfamiliar with how marks are divided across IGCSE papers or how IB Internal Assessments are moderated.

An online tutor is picked for that knowledge. The compromise is reliability of connection, and Yanam's coastal position means cyclone-season power cuts are a genuine risk, so a mobile hotspot and a backup slot are sensible. Self-study is possible but without a marker, errors repeat unseen.

Some families combine routes, for example local tuition for the public exam and an online tutor for an IGCSE or IB subject.

05

When are the exams, and how do Sankranti, floods and cyclones affect study in Yanam?

IB Diploma papers are held in May, with results in July, and in November, with results in January. Cambridge IGCSE is sat in May and June and October and November, with a February and March series in India for some subjects, and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE adds a January series. The exact dates and deadlines come from your school or exam centre.

Yanam's calendar has its own rhythm. Sankranti in mid-January is the big family festival of the region and lands near mock exams. Ugadi, Vinayaka Chavithi, Dasara and Deepavali follow through the year. The Godavari floods in July and August, and the Bay of Bengal's cyclone season from October to December can cut power on the delta coast.

Summer is hot and humid, with April and May often the hardest months, so early-morning or evening lessons are kinder. The November session lands squarely in cyclone season, so mock exams should finish early and the last fortnight should stay free of new content.

A sensible pattern is heavy practice before Sankranti, light consolidation during festivals and a backup slot agreed for storm days.

06

Where can a Yanam student study after IB or IGCSE, and does French help?

  • Territory and state: Puducherry and Andhra institutions, each with its own admission rules
  • National: CUET-UG, JEE Main, NEET UG with eligibility checks
  • Overseas: UCAS, Common App, direct applications; French for francophone study
  • Choose Class 11 subjects with the target course in mind

Indian universities admit students from international boards, typically with an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities. Yanam families look at Pondicherry University and JIPMER in the territory and at institutions in Andhra Pradesh, each with its own rules, so check territory and state conditions separately.

National tests remain reachable. CUET-UG admits international-board students, while JEE Main and NEET UG depend on the subjects studied and yearly eligibility. NEET needs Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, so Class 11 subjects matter. Read the current official notice each year.

Abroad, the IB Diploma and strong IGCSE grades are understood by universities in the UK, United States, Canada, Australia and Europe, with UCAS, the Common Application and direct routes. French adds a real edge for applications to France or francophone study, where language proficiency is asked for, and Yanam's heritage makes it a natural option.

The planning horizon is long. Predicted grades build on Class 11 and early Class 12, so steady tutoring in Mathematics and the sciences has a measurable effect.

07

How are IB Mathematics, sciences and French taught online for Yanam students?

  • Analysis and Approaches: calculus, vectors, complex numbers, proof
  • Applications and Interpretation: statistics, distributions, modelling
  • Sciences: calculation fluency, data analysis and practical design
  • French: oral practice, listening, reading and structured writing

IB Mathematics offers Analysis and Approaches for algebra and calculus lovers and Applications and Interpretation for statistics and modelling. A future engineer generally takes the first, a future economist or psychologist may prefer the second, both at Standard or Higher Level.

In a lesson the tutor writes a full solution on a shared tablet, then the student tries a similar question while being observed. This follows how method marks are given. The Mathematics exploration is the student's own; tutors advise on scope only.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology use worked examples followed by Paper 1 and Paper 2 practice. The Internal Assessment is a student-designed investigation, and tutors coach planning, uncertainty and evaluation without writing any of it.

French lessons centre on speaking. The tutor sets short spoken tasks, corrects pronunciation live and builds the vocabulary that the written papers reward. A student with a French family link can move quickly, while a beginner on the ab initio route needs a steady weekly rhythm.

08

How should a Yanam student pick IGCSE tier and subjects?

  • Science path: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English
  • Commerce path: Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting
  • Language path: French alongside English and a core subject
  • Extended tier for any subject leading to IB HL or A Level

Most IGCSE subjects offer two tiers. Core limits the top grade and suits a solid pass. Extended covers the full syllabus and opens the top grades, and it is the right tier when a student may later take the subject at IB Higher Level or A Level.

Subject choice should match the plan. Engineering and medicine suggest Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Commerce suggests Economics, Business Studies and Accounting. A language route might add French, which Yanam students find approachable.

English needs thought. English as a Second Language suits many Telugu-medium students, but some overseas universities ask for a higher qualification, so check first.

Private candidates must book an exam centre early, often in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad or Chennai. Tutors prepare the student; registration goes through the centre.

Where we tutor

Yanam localities and neighbouring delta towns we teach online

Because lessons run by video, the list below is about the families we meet and their routines. Each note gives something practical for scheduling around life in and near the enclave.

Yanam town centre and the Godavari ghat

The old core of the enclave, close to the river. Families here often prefer later evening slots after the market quietens.

Vishnalayam temple area

Around the 15th-century Venkateswara temple. Festival weeks bring crowds, so we agree lesson times ahead of them.

Kanakalapeta

A residential locality where many families plan a later move towards Kakinada for school years.

Dariyalatippa

Nearer the coast and exposed to cyclone-season power cuts, so a backup lesson slot is agreed.

Agraharam

A quieter residential neighbourhood, suited to regular weekday evening sessions.

Mettakur

Families towards the river side who combine farm and business interests and favour weekend mornings.

YSR Indoor Stadium area

Close to the sports venue. Sports-minded students fit lessons around training, usually in the evening.

Kakinada road side

Families facing Kakinada, about 27 km away, who compare school options there for Class 9 and Class 11.

Amalapuram and Tallarevu side

Households across the Andhra border of the delta who share the same options and online routine.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Yanam

Yanam itself

We have not confirmed an IB, Cambridge or Edexcel school in Yanam, and we name none. The territory's schools run local-board and CBSE patterns, so a student here reaches an international syllabus through online tutoring or a school in another city.

    Nearby: Rajahmundry

About 65 km away, Rajahmundry has a Cambridge-approved school running Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary up to Grade 8. It is not an IB or IGCSE school, so it suits younger children only, and it is not a daily journey from Yanam.

    • Laurel High Global School

    Nearby: Visakhapatnam

Around three hours up the coast, Visakhapatnam has the closest confirmed IB and IGCSE base for families in the Godavari delta, including boarding options for senior years.

    • Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam
    • Oak Valley International School, Gajuwaka

IB Gram is an independent tutoring service. It is not connected to the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson or any school named here, and a school's appearance does not suggest endorsement. Schools are listed only as nearby-city context. Please check each school's present curriculum and admission rules directly.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Yanam: your questions answered

Can Yanam students find IB and IGCSE tutors?+

Yes, through online lessons. IB and IGCSE tutors in Yanam are matched on IB Gram by course and level, then teach live and one to one from elsewhere in India. Few teachers around the Godavari delta have handled these syllabuses, so a national search is more reliable. The first lesson is free and the tutor can be changed.

Does anyone visit homes in Yanam for tuition?+

No. Home visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so Yanam has none. Home tuition here means a private live lesson your child takes from home on a laptop. The benefit is range: you choose from specialists across India and never depend on a tutor travelling into the enclave.

Is there an IB school in Yanam?+

We have not confirmed one and name none. Schools in Yanam follow local-board and CBSE patterns. The nearest confirmed IB and IGCSE schools are in Visakhapatnam, and Rajahmundry has a Cambridge-approved school up to Grade 8. Always verify a school's current programmes with the school or the IB.

Why is Yanam part of Puducherry?+

Because France held it as a colonial trading post until the mid-twentieth century. France set up a post here in 1723, and control passed to India de facto in 1954, with a treaty in 1956 and legal transfer in 1962. It stayed administratively tied to Puducherry, although it lies inside Andhra Pradesh.

Can my child study French with you?+

Yes. We offer IB French B, French ab initio and IGCSE French as a foreign language, taught mostly through spoken practice with listening and writing added. Yanam's French past makes it a natural choice, and French also supports applications to France and francophone universities. Ask for a French-specialist tutor when you message us.

Can a Yanam student take IGCSE as a private candidate?+

Often yes, in many written-paper subjects, through an approved exam centre, usually in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad or Chennai. Ask early about seats, fees and science practicals. Your tutor prepares you for the papers, while registration runs through the centre.

What decides the price of IB or IGCSE tuition here?+

Tutor depth, subject, level and weekly hours, with nothing added for living in Yanam. We publish no price list. After the free trial we send a written quote with the reasons, such as Higher Level content or French oral work, so you can weigh it against any local alternative.

Which subjects do Yanam families ask about most?+

Mathematics and the sciences lead, then Economics and Business, with French standing out as a local favourite. Families aiming at engineering or medicine ask for IB Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. English writing help is common for students moving from Telugu-medium schooling.

Will a tutor write my child's Internal Assessment or essay?+

No. Tutors coach and never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework. They explain criteria, help plan and comment on the student's own drafts. The IB treats outsourced work as malpractice, and self-written work is what builds lasting skill.

    What time are lessons held?+

Lessons follow Indian Standard Time, usually in the evening or at weekends. Yanam students often have school until the afternoon and sometimes a tuition batch, so we fit around them. Slots can move for Sankranti, Dasara, exams and flood or cyclone warnings.

What if a cyclone or flood cuts our power?+

We reschedule the missed lesson. The delta coast can lose power in cyclone season and during flood alerts, so keep a phone hotspot charged and agree a backup time. If a lesson is cut short, a written note tells you what was covered.

Should my child choose IGCSE Core or Extended?+

Extended if the subject may continue to IB Higher Level or A Level, Core if it is a stand-alone subject. Extended covers the full syllabus and opens the top grades. A tutor can judge from a recent paper after the trial lesson.

Can IB or IGCSE students from Yanam apply to CUET, JEE or NEET?+

Usually yes, subject to eligibility that changes by year, often with an AIU equivalence certificate. CUET-UG, JEE Main and NEET UG have admitted international-board students. NEET needs Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Because Yanam is a Puducherry region, also check territory-level admission rules for local institutions.

How do we begin from Yanam?+

Email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with class, board, subject and exam date. We propose a matched tutor, arrange a free lesson and send the plan and rate in writing. Nothing is charged before you agree.

Is IB Gram linked to any school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram is independent and has no partnership with the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school. We teach published syllabuses and use public mark schemes. We cannot promise grades or admission, and we suggest confirming school and exam details directly.
