IB and IGCSE Tutors and Home Tuition in Wankaner

Private IB or IGCSE tuition at home in Wankaner comes down to a laptop on your own table and a tutor who has taught your exact course. The nearest school offering either curriculum is in Rajkot, roughly 50 km away, so most local students learn beside a Gujarat Board or CBSE timetable. Our tutors do not visit homes in Gujarat; lessons are live, one to one and online, and the first is free.

  • Tutors shortlisted by syllabus code and level, not by a general profile
  • Private one-to-one lessons at home over video, with a written note after each
  • A free first lesson, and a free change of tutor if it does not click
  • No link to any school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson

IB & IGCSE in Wankaner

A palace town on the Machhu with no IB or IGCSE campus of its own

Wankaner takes its name from the bend of the Machhu river it sits on, wanka meaning bend and ner meaning river, and it lies in Morbi district, which was carved out of Rajkot district in August 2013. The 2011 census counted 43,881 residents. Until 1948 it was the capital of an eleven-gun-salute princely state ruled by the Jhala Rajputs, and the palace built by Maharana Amarsinhji in the twentieth century is still its best-known landmark.

Schooling here follows the Gujarat Board in Gujarati or English medium, with CBSE at some schools in the district. We could not confirm an IB, Cambridge or Edexcel school in Wankaner or anywhere in Morbi district. The closest confirmed campus is The Galaxy School in Rajkot, about 50 km south, and the next group sits in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.

The households that do search for IB or IGCSE help are a mixed lot: trading and manufacturing families from the Morbi belt with a child they picture studying abroad, railway and bank staff posted to the junction town, relatives of the Gujarati diaspora in the UK, East Africa and North America, and parents whose child studies in Rajkot or Ahmedabad and needs a second specialist after class.

What we offer is online: live, one-to-one lessons taken at home on a laptop. Our tutors do not visit homes in Wankaner, since in-person home tuition is run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Everything else, from subject match to the weekly slot, the written note and the free trial, works exactly as it would for a family in a metro.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Wankaner school years

Almost nobody in Wankaner meets these programmes through a local school, so each description below says what the stage looks like for a family in Morbi district.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Six transdisciplinary themes taught through units of inquiry that end in a group Exhibition. Nothing is externally examined, so support is about reading confidence, number sense and explaining an idea aloud.

No PYP school is confirmed in Morbi district. Parents who ask are usually preparing for a move to Rajkot or Ahmedabad and want a child who reads comfortably in English before the change.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups marked against published criteria, with a Personal Project in the last year. Marks reward explaining and justifying, not only reaching an answer.

A child arriving from a Gujarati-medium class often meets English science and maths vocabulary for the first time here, so early lessons spend time on command words and written reasoning.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects at Higher and Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, for a total out of 45. Papers sit in May, with November as the second session.

Wankaner students on the Diploma are almost always studying away from home, in Rajkot or further, or taking one subject with a tutor because their school cannot staff it.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller route pairing Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective project. It is rare in India.

Seldom requested from Wankaner. Where a student follows it, we teach the Diploma courses inside it and set aside time for the reflective project.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Tell us the course, level and exam session and we propose a tutor who has taught that exact combination. A few descriptions below use examples from Wankaner's own economy, rivers and weather, because they make good material for investigations and case studies.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions and proof-style algebra for engineering, science and economics routes, with a timed no-calculator set each week to build Paper 1 speed.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Extended Essay (EE)

DP Core

Help choosing a question and keeping to a timetable, with no drafting for the student.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Most Wankaner students meet IGCSE through a school in another city or as private candidates. Cambridge sits its main series in May-June and October-November, with a limited February-March series in India for selected syllabuses, and Edexcel adds January. Private entry needs an approved centre, and in Gujarat those are concentrated in the big cities.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended papers worked in full, with attention to method marks and calculator-free accuracy.

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Class 10

Calculus, functions, trigonometry and logarithms for students heading to IB Maths AA HL or A Level Maths.

Class 9-10

Algorithms, logic and Python across two papers.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Class 9-10

Reading, writing and speaking for students who want a language grade beside their science subjects.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Wankaner school timetables

Tutors do not visit homes in Wankaner: home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Families here choose among three online formats, all one to one.

A weekly hour beside school

One fixed slot a week with a subject specialist, following the school's scheme of work, homework and past papers.

  • Tutor briefed on the school's syllabus and recent test marks
  • A practice set marked between lessons
  • A short written note after every class

Blocks before pre-boards and finals

Two to six weeks of denser lessons ahead of pre-boards, IB papers or an IGCSE series, placed around festival dates.

  • Highest-scoring topics taught first
  • Timed papers with marked feedback
  • Alternate-day or daily evening slots

Whole-course teaching for private candidates

A tutor teaches an IGCSE subject or an IB course from first principles when the student has no class in it.

  • A syllabus map from today to the exam date
  • Mock papers with grade estimates
  • Advice on exam-centre deadlines

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Wankaner

01

Who looks for IB or IGCSE support in Wankaner, and why?

Mostly families whose plans reach beyond Gujarat. With no IB or Cambridge school in town, the people who ask about these courses are preparing for study abroad, a move to a larger city, or a place at an international school in Rajkot or Ahmedabad, and they want a specialist beside the classroom while they settle the route.

Trading and manufacturing households form the largest group. The Morbi and Wankaner belt turns out tiles, sanitaryware and allied goods, and many owners picture a son or daughter studying business, engineering or design in the UK, Canada or Australia. For them the qualification is a passport, so the talk is of predicted grades, subject combinations and which Higher Level courses a university will want.

Salaried families make a second group: railway staff at the junction, bank and government employees on transfer, teachers and college lecturers. Some arrive with a child already halfway through an IB or Cambridge course elsewhere, and what they need is continuity, a tutor who knows the same syllabus until the posting ends or the child moves to a boarding school.

Households with relatives in the UK, East Africa or North America come third. Cousins overseas sit GCSEs or AP exams, grandparents in Wankaner hear the words IGCSE and IB at weddings, and a child who may one day join that branch of the family sometimes starts the international route early.

What unites all four groups is distance. Nobody can walk to a specialist IB Physics HL teacher from a Wankaner lane, and the nearest IB-listed campus is some 50 km away. Online lessons close that gap without asking a family to relocate.

02

Which IB and IGCSE schools are near Wankaner, and what should parents check?

None inside Wankaner, as far as public directories show. The nearest is The Galaxy School on University Road in Rajkot, which Edustoke lists as an IB day school from nursery to Class 12. Beyond Rajkot, the IB schools we could confirm in Gujarat cluster in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat, each a long road or rail journey away.

The Wankaner Junction link to Rajkot helps on paper, since DEMU trains and buses connect the two towns, but a child travelling 50 km each way every school day loses hours that homework and sleep need. In practice, families weighing these schools are really weighing a move, a hostel or a relative's house in the host city, and that decision deserves more attention than the curriculum label.

Some questions are worth putting to any school. Which IB programmes is it authorised to teach, and which does it actually run? Does it offer Higher Level in the subjects your child needs? How does mid-year entry work for a student from a Gujarati-medium class? Does it run its own Cambridge or Pearson centre? And what do hostel, transport and deposits add to the headline fee?

The IB's school finder at ibo.org confirms authorisation, and the school's own prospectus should confirm the rest. We do not rank these schools or recommend one. We teach individual students online wherever they sit, and we can prepare a child for an entry test or fill gaps after admission.

03

Gujarat Board, CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE or IB: how do they differ for a Wankaner student?

The Gujarat Board (GSEB) is the default in Wankaner, with Class 10 and Class 12 public exams in March, state-board textbooks and Gujarati or English as the medium. CBSE uses NCERT books and its own national exams in the same month, and some schools in the district follow it. IGCSE and the IB Diploma are international and assessed on a different logic.

Move from a GSEB desk to an IGCSE or IB desk and the language of the paper changes before the content does. Command words such as justify, evaluate and deduce carry marks, and a correct answer with no reasoning often earns little. Students who are fluent in recall can look slow at first, simply because nobody has asked them to explain their thinking in writing.

Gujarati-medium students face one more step: the English technical vocabulary of physics, chemistry and economics. The cure is practice, not remedial English. A tutor who lets the student talk through an idea in plain words and then write it in exam English usually moves a student faster than a list of terms to memorise.

Neither route is superior. GSEB suits a student who will study in Gujarat and sit state entrance tests. CBSE suits a family that may move between states. IGCSE suits a student who wants an internationally read Class 10 result, and the IB Diploma suits one who is aiming at universities overseas and can manage six subjects plus the core.

How is the rate for IB or IGCSE tuition in Wankaner worked out?

  • Subject and level: Core, Extended, SL or HL
  • Hours per week, and whether a block is intensive
  • How much experience the tutor has with your exact syllabus
  • Weeks left before the exam session

It depends on the subject, level, weekly hours and tutor, and IB Gram does not publish a price list. After you tell us what you need, we send a rate in writing before anything is booked, and the first lesson is free, so you judge the teaching before you judge the price.

Why does the same hour cost differently? A tutor for IGCSE Core Science or MYP Maths comes from a wide pool, while IB Physics HL, Chemistry HL or Maths AA HL has far fewer people who have taught the course at a high level. Examiner or moderation experience, where a family asks for it, narrows the pool further.

Online delivery removes one cost, travel. A Wankaner family does not pay for a tutor's journey and is not limited to people within reach of the Rajkot road. Nor does it lose weeks when a posting changes, because the lessons follow the student.

A cautious way to begin is one subject for a month. See whether the written notes are useful and whether the student arrives at the second lesson with questions, and only then add a second subject. Changing tutor is free if the fit is wrong, and nothing is owed for a lesson that has not been taught.

05

Online tutor, Rajkot coaching class, local teacher or self-study: what suits a Wankaner student?

Each option has a job, and families often combine two. The useful question is what the student cannot get at present: a specialist in the subject, a steady routine, feedback on written answers, or classmates to work beside.

Coaching classes in Rajkot are built around JEE, NEET and board exams, which helps for Indian entrance tests and much less for IB or IGCSE, whose papers ask different questions. They also assume a daily journey, and for a Wankaner student the commute usually eats the benefit.

A local private teacher knows the town and is close by, but most are trained on GSEB or CBSE texts. Some can handle general Maths or Science at IGCSE Core level, and they are worth using for those subjects. For Higher Level or Extended content, a syllabus-specific tutor is hard to find nearby.

Self-study with past papers works for a disciplined student in Maths and Physics, where an answer is right or wrong. It works poorly in Economics, History and English, where how you write decides the marks and nobody reads the answer. Online one-to-one tutoring adds that reader. What it cannot replace is a class of classmates.

How do Uttarayan, Navratri, Diwali and the monsoon shape an exam year in Wankaner?

Gujarat's festival year has three loud stretches: Uttarayan in mid-January, Navratri in the autumn and Diwali with the Gujarati New Year soon after. Schools shorten or close, families travel and evening slots vanish. A plan that maps lessons around those dates finishes more of the syllabus than one that ignores them.

Uttarayan falls on 14 January, close to pre-board exams and the Edexcel January series. Rooftops and kite-buying take over the afternoons, so lessons move to the evening or to early morning, and mock papers are better set for the days either side of the festival.

March brings GSEB and CBSE public exams for local students, then Holi and Dhuleti. April and May bring sharp heat in Saurashtra, when afternoons are slow and lessons work better early or late. IB May papers and the Cambridge May-June series sit in this stretch, and results for the IB arrive in early July.

The monsoon, from late June into September, brings fewer rainy days than south Gujarat, but heavy spells can still cut power and roads. Navratri then turns evenings into garba nights for many households, and the Diwali holiday that follows suits catch-up work and revision for the Cambridge October-November series and the IB November session.

IB Maths AA or AI, plus Physics, Chemistry and Biology: what do the courses demand?

Start with the Maths choice, since it shapes the rest. Analysis and Approaches (AA) is for students who enjoy algebra, functions and calculus and may head to engineering, physical science or economics. Applications and Interpretation (AI) leans towards statistics, modelling and technology, and suits business, social science, design and many life-science routes.

At Higher Level both courses run to three papers and a Mathematical Exploration. AA HL brings in proof by induction, complex numbers and Maclaurin series, while AI HL adds topics such as graph theory and Markov chains. Standard Level sits two papers. Paper 1 bans the calculator in AA, so speed on algebra matters, which is why we set timed calculator-free work every week.

The sciences follow the revised guides first examined in 2025. Physics runs in five themes, from space, time and motion to nuclear and quantum physics. Chemistry is organised around Structure and Reactivity. Biology moves through four themes, from unity and diversity to continuity and change. Each course has a written investigation worth 20 percent, plus papers that mix calculation with extended responses.

Wankaner and Morbi supply unusually concrete material for those investigations: the chemistry of clay and glaze oxides, the porosity and water absorption of tiles, hardness and salinity in groundwater, solar heating on a Saurashtra roof, turbidity in the Machhu after rain. Choosing the topic is the student's decision. The tutor's job is to help them judge whether the question can produce measurable data.

08

IGCSE Core or Extended: how should a Wankaner family choose tiers and subjects?

Choose Extended (Cambridge) or Higher (Edexcel) unless there is a clear reason not to. Core and Foundation papers cap the grade a student can reach, which can close doors to IB Maths AA, A Level sciences or competitive overseas courses. A student who is unsure should start at the higher tier and review after the first mock.

The two boards differ in calendar and style. Cambridge sits in May-June and October-November, plus a limited February-March series in India for some syllabuses, and Edexcel adds January. Cambridge questions often build through a chain of short parts, while Edexcel Maths leans on longer multi-step problems. We tutor both and compare past papers in the trial lesson.

Subject sets can follow the goal. A student eyeing engineering or IB Maths AA HL takes Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A biosciences route adds Biology. Business and family-firm routes take Business Studies, Economics or Computer Science, and a language such as Hindi or English as a Second Language often rounds out the set.

A private candidate needs an approved exam centre, and in Gujarat those are found mainly in the larger cities. Registration deadlines fall months before the exam, so enquire in the autumn for the following summer. We teach the syllabus and mark practice papers, and the family handles registration with the centre.

What can an IB or IGCSE student from Wankaner do after school?

  • AIU equivalence certificates for Indian admissions
  • CUET-UG for central universities
  • JEE, NEET and Gujarat entrance rules checked in Class 11
  • Overseas offers conditional on predicted IB or IGCSE and A Level grades

Stay in India, study abroad, or keep both doors open. For Indian admissions, the Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence certificates for the IB Diploma and for IGCSE with A Level, and CUET-UG lets students from these boards apply to many central universities, subject to each course's rules. Gujarat's own universities set their own admission terms, so ask each one early.

For engineering and medicine in India, the entrance tests matter more than the board. JEE Main, JEE Advanced and NEET-UG have their own eligibility rules for IB and IGCSE students, which differ from the state-board pattern, so read the current information bulletins in Class 11. Gujarat's state admission routes carry conditions too, and these change, so check the official notice rather than hearsay.

Rajkot and Ahmedabad offer destinations within reach of home: AIIMS Rajkot and the PDU Government Medical College for NEET-UG candidates, IIT Gandhinagar for JEE Advanced, the National Institute of Design and CEPT University in Ahmedabad for design and architecture, and Lukhdhirji Engineering College in Morbi. Saurashtra University and Marwadi University in Rajkot are local options, and each sets its own admission terms.

Study abroad is the path many Wankaner families have in mind. The IB Diploma and Cambridge qualifications are read directly by universities in the UK, Canada, Australia, the United States, Singapore and across Europe, often through offers based on predicted grades. We build subject strength and exam technique. Applications, personal statements and essays remain the student's own work.

Where we tutor

Wankaner, the Machhu bend and the wider Morbi district belt

Nothing about an online lesson depends on your street, but school hours, road time and family routines differ from one corner of the district to another. This is how each area looks to a tutor planning a week.

Old town around Ranjit Vilas Palace

Long-settled families, traders and households once linked to the princely state, mostly on the Gujarat Board, who prefer lessons after an early dinner.

Wankaner Junction and the railway quarters

Railway staff families, some transferred from other states, for whom a child's syllabus may change every few years.

Machhu riverside

Residential lanes beside the river. Monsoon spells are the thing to plan around here, with a charged laptop and a phone hotspot ready.

Main bazaar and town centre

Shopkeeping and commission-agent families, where children often help in the shop until evening and lessons start late.

Rajkot road side

Newer housing on the southern approach, popular with families who travel to Rajkot for work and sometimes look at Rajkot schools.

Morbi road side

The northern approach towards Morbi's ceramic belt, with owners and managers who link the town to the tile trade.

Villages of Wankaner taluka

Farming villages around the town, where students often travel to Wankaner or Rajkot for senior classes and have the least access to specialists.

Morbi

The district headquarters, a short road or DEMU ride away, where many Wankaner business families have partners and relatives.

Rajkot

The nearest major city, with the closest IB-listed school and Saurashtra's largest coaching market, about 50 km from Wankaner.

Maliya, Halvad and Tankara

Neighbouring talukas of Morbi district, where English-medium options are thinner and online lessons carry the most weight.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Wankaner

Nearest option: Rajkot

About 50 km from Wankaner by road, with a DEMU rail link. Edustoke lists one IB school there, on University Road, running nursery to Class 12 as a day school. A daily round trip is long for a child, so families usually think of it only with a move or a hostel.

  • The Galaxy School, Rajkot

Nearby: Ahmedabad

Gujarat's largest cluster of IB schools, around 200 km from Wankaner, so admission here is normally a boarding or relocation decision.

  • Ahmedabad International School
  • Calorx Olive International School

Nearby: Vadodara and Surat

Two more IB schools in central and south Gujarat, reached by families who are planning a longer move.

  • Navrachana International School, Vadodara
  • Fountainhead School, Surat

Wankaner and Morbi district

No IB, Cambridge or Edexcel school is confirmed in the town or the district. Local schools follow the Gujarat Board or CBSE. A student who wants IGCSE without moving can register as a private candidate through an approved centre.

IB Gram works independently of every school, board and examining body mentioned here and has no tie-up with any of them. The schools are named because public directories list them as IB schools, and none of them is in Wankaner. Programmes, grades and fees change, so confirm details with each school before planning around it.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Wankaner: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Wankaner?+

We could not confirm one. Public directories list no IB, Cambridge or Edexcel school in Wankaner or elsewhere in Morbi district. The nearest confirmed school is The Galaxy School in Rajkot, an IB day school about 50 km away, and more are in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat. Check authorisation with the school and ibo.org before planning around a listing.

Will a tutor come to my home in Wankaner?+

No. IB Gram tutors do not visit homes in Wankaner, because home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What we offer is private tuition at home in online form: a live, one-to-one video lesson on your own laptop with a specialist for the exact course, at a time that fits your household.

What does an IB or IGCSE tutor cost in Wankaner?+

It depends on subject, level, weekly hours and the tutor, and we do not publish prices. We send the rate in writing before you book. The first lesson is free, so you can compare the teaching with the quote before you decide. Online delivery means no travel cost, and a Higher Level subject is priced differently from IGCSE Core.

Can a Wankaner student take IGCSE or IB without changing school?+

For IGCSE, yes, as a private candidate through an approved Cambridge or Pearson centre, which usually means a centre in a larger Gujarat city. The IB Diploma is different: it needs an authorised IB school, so a private route is not available. We can teach IB subjects for a student who is already enrolled at an IB school.

My child studies at an IB school in Rajkot or Ahmedabad. Can you support them?+

Yes. Send the school's syllabus outline and the latest report, and the tutor will map what has been covered. Most students use one weekly lesson for Higher Level Maths or a science, or for exam technique. We never write IAs or the Extended Essay, and we stay within the school's rules on outside help.

Does studying in Gujarati medium make IB or IGCSE harder?+

It adds one step, which is English technical vocabulary, but the concepts are not harder. Students from Gujarati-medium classes are often strong at calculation. We begin with command words and worked examples, let the student explain ideas in plain words, then turn those explanations into exam-style written answers over a few weeks.

Which IB subjects can a Wankaner student study with you?+

Maths AA and AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, History, English, Hindi B, Computer Science and Psychology, along with TOK and Extended Essay guidance. If a subject is rare, tell us and we check whether a specialist is available before proposing a match.

What time are lessons held, and do you pause for Navratri and Diwali?+

Lessons run on weekday evenings and Sunday mornings in Indian Standard Time. We can add short daily blocks before mocks or finals, and we pause or shift slots around Navratri nights, the Diwali fortnight and Uttarayan. If the family travels abroad for a holiday, lessons carry on from wherever the student is.

What happens if the power or internet fails during a lesson?+

We move the lesson. Keep the laptop charged and a phone hotspot ready, because heavy rain or a summer cut can interrupt a connection. If an outage costs a lesson, the tutor and family agree another slot at no extra charge, and we test the connection and audio during the free trial so problems appear early.

Can a tutor write my child's IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors coach and never write any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework. They can explain the criteria, discuss method and comment on a draft the student has written. The work must stay the student's own, and schools and examiners check authenticity closely.

Cambridge or Edexcel: which IGCSE board should a Wankaner student choose?+

Neither is better in general. Choose the board that your school or exam centre offers, then choose the tier. Cambridge sits in May-June and October-November, with a limited February-March series in India, while Edexcel adds January. Centres are fewer in Gujarat than in metros, so availability often decides. We tutor both boards.

Can IB and IGCSE students from Wankaner apply to Indian universities?+

Yes, with conditions. IB Diploma holders usually need an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate, and CUET-UG accepts these boards for many universities. JEE Main, NEET-UG and Gujarat's state admission routes have their own rules for international-board students, so read the official notices during Class 11 rather than relying on hearsay.

Are your tutors based in Gujarat?+

Not necessarily. Our tutors are based across India and teach in Indian Standard Time. For an online lesson, where the tutor lives matters far less than how well they know your syllabus, tier and mark scheme. The free trial lets you judge the teaching directly, and you can ask for a different tutor at no cost.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram is independent of every school, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge and Pearson. Schools named on this page appear as examples from public listings, with no partnership or endorsement. We also give no guarantee of grades or admission, and we say so plainly before you book.

Can one tutor cover both IB and IGCSE Maths?+

Often, at a suitable level. A tutor comfortable with IB Maths SL can usually teach IGCSE Extended Maths, but IB Maths AA HL or Additional Mathematics may need a specialist. We check each tutor's experience with the exact course before proposing a match, and we tell you when two tutors would serve a student better than one.

How do I get started from Wankaner?+
