Umaria: IB and IGCSE Tutors with Online Home Tuition

Looking for IB or IGCSE home tuition in Umaria? Lessons here run live and one to one on video, because our tutors do not visit homes outside Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. The district is coal, power and tiger country with MP Board and CBSE schools, and we could not confirm an IB or Cambridge campus, so we search the whole country for a tutor who has taught your child's exact course.

  • We shortlist against your child's real subject, level and exam session, never a general subject label
  • Umaria lessons are all live and online; tutors do not come to the house, since visits happen only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • Watch a full trial lesson before any payment is discussed
  • No tie-up with any Umaria school or coaching centre, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel

IB & IGCSE in Umaria

IB and IGCSE help for a district known for coal, power and tigers

Umaria is better known for Bandhavgarh's tigers, the Johilla coal mines and a thermal power station at Pali than for international schooling, and that explains this page. Families asking about IB home tuition in Umaria want someone to sit with their child one to one, and the nearest honest version of that is a live video lesson, since our tutors do not travel to homes outside Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. IB and IGCSE tutors in Umaria therefore teach from elsewhere in India, on Indian Standard Time.

Schools in the district follow the MP Board and CBSE. Kendriya Vidyalaya Nowrozabad, in the Johilla area, is the one school the town's encyclopaedia entry names, and it is a CBSE central school; an edustoke listing for Umaria came back empty. We found no IB World School and no Cambridge or Edexcel centre in the district, and we would rather say so than invent one. Check any school's current affiliation yourself before relying on it.

The enquiries that do reach us come from a few kinds of household: coalfield and power-station officers who may be transferred between areas, forest and wildlife professionals around Bandhavgarh, families with a child boarding in Jabalpur, Bhopal or Indore, and parents in government service who want a Class 9 start on a curriculum that universities abroad recognise. Each needs a specialist the district itself cannot supply.

IB Gram answers to no school, coalfield body or examining board. Tutors teach, ask questions and mark practice work. Whatever is submitted as an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework is worded by the student alone, and feedback never arrives as rewritten paragraphs.

At a glance

  • Teaching for IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP and for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Support for children moving from Hindi-medium to English-medium study
  • Live sessions on a shared whiteboard, timed to IST
  • A free trial lesson, then a written rate before you decide
  • Tutors do not visit Umaria; Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR are the only places for in-person teaching
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Umaria school years

With no IB campus anywhere in the district, a family in Umaria reaches these programmes through a boarding school, a posting or a deliberate plan for Class 11. The notes below describe what tutoring actually involves at each stage.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

The PYP replaces subject periods with six themes explored through units of inquiry, ending in an Exhibition that pupils research and present in the final year. Marks and rank lists play no part. A tutor strengthens the basics underneath: fluent reading, number confidence and the habit of asking a good question.

In Umaria this usually means a family arriving on a coalfield or power-plant posting with a child who has already spent a year or two in a PYP classroom elsewhere, and whose habits need keeping alive.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

In the MYP each subject is graded against four criteria and units are tied together by global contexts. The Personal Project in the last year asks a student to plan, make and reflect on something of their own choosing. Marks slip mainly through vague, descriptive answers where the criterion wants a reasoned judgement.

A child coming over from a Hindi-medium MP Board class meets two changes at once, the criteria and the language of instruction, so a tutor separates the two and tackles each in turn.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

A candidate studies six subjects, half at Higher Level and half at Standard, together with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal assessment feeds into each subject grade. Papers are sat in May or November, and results come out in July and January.

Nothing in Umaria teaches the Diploma, so a candidate is registered through a school elsewhere, and weekly online lessons fill the gaps that a distant campus's timetable leaves behind.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A few Diploma courses are paired with a career-related study, a reflective project and language development. It is a practical alternative to the full Diploma that only a handful of Indian schools offer.

We know of no CP school close to Umaria. Enquiries are rare, and when one comes we focus on the chosen Diploma courses and say plainly whether the full Diploma would suit the student better.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Families around Umaria ask most often about the courses below. The tutor follows the syllabus version and level used by the school where the student is registered, and we confirm this before the first lesson.

IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL / SL

For students who like algebra, calculus and proof. HL Paper 3 sets unfamiliar problems on purpose, so sessions alternate between technique and open questions.

IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and calculator fluency. Explorations work best on real data, such as rainfall records or coal output tables.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Thermal physics and energy conversion connect neatly to the district's power station, but the paper rewards clean units and quick rearranging above all.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Combustion, energetics and equilibrium form the core of the course, and a second marking pass improves the practical write-up.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Command terms and precise vocabulary separate similar answers. Forest ecosystems near Bandhavgarh illustrate the ecology units, though any investigation topic must come from the student.

IB Environmental Systems and Societies

SL / HL

A strong fit for tiger-reserve country: conservation, land use, mining impacts and energy choices, argued with evidence instead of slogans.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams first, evaluation second. Material from coal, electricity pricing and tourism makes policy answers concrete.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Marks come from reading case studies and giving applied answers. HL candidates need a real organisation to study for the research project.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Resource extraction, energy and hazards, plus fieldwork design for the internal assessment.

IB English A: Language and Literature

HL / SL

Commentary and comparative-essay technique drilled on unseen texts, with extra attention for students whose schooling so far has been in Hindi.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Pseudocode, data structures and an internal solution that must actually run, so sessions spend time at the keyboard.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Approaches to behaviour, research methods and well-structured long answers.

IB Hindi A / B

HL / SL

A comfortable subject for many Umaria students, yet register and text-type conventions still cost marks if they are not taught.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Questioning practice, exhibition preparation and essay planning, with the essay always written by the student.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Umaria families usually ask about IGCSE because a child is about to join a Cambridge or Edexcel school elsewhere, or because they want to know what leaving the MP Board would involve. The tutor first fixes the syllabus code and tier, then the exam series: May-June or October-November, with January as well for some Edexcel subjects.

IGCSE Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core / Extended

Hindi-medium students often have strong arithmetic but meet word problems and calculator papers as new territory, so each gets its own practice.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606)

Grade 10

A head start on calculus and vectors for students heading towards IB Maths AA or a science stream.

IGCSE Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core / Extended

Equation handling and graph reading are drilled early, and the alternative-to-practical paper gets dedicated sessions.

IGCSE Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core / Extended

Reacting masses, electrolysis and organic basics, with experiments talked through step by step.

IGCSE Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core / Extended

Cells, inheritance and ecology, plus the data-handling questions that decide the top grades.

IGCSE Environmental Management (0680)

Single tier

Resources, energy and human impact, with mining and forest examples close to home.

IGCSE Geography (0460)

Single tier

Map skills, fieldwork and case studies, using river valley and coalfield landscapes as familiar reference points.

IGCSE Economics (0455)

Single tier

Core terms, diagrams and data-response questions, with written evaluation practised last.

IGCSE English as a Second Language (0510)

Core / Extended

For students moving from Hindi-medium schooling: listening, speaking, reading and writing built up evenly.

IGCSE Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Logic on paper and Python that actually runs, given equal time.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language (0549)

Single tier

An easier subject for many students from the region, yet specification conventions still need practice.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Umaria school timetables

In-person home tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so every Umaria option below runs live on video. The difference is tempo: a weekly slot that survives shift work, an intensive stretch built around a boarding school's calendar, or short regular sessions that bridge the move to English.

Weekly lessons that follow the working day

Many Umaria households run to a shift pattern, so the weekly slot goes where it will survive that: an evening after the mine or plant shift ends, or a weekend morning. Same tutor, same hour, every week.

  • Fixed around the family's real routine
  • Suits IB DP, MYP, PYP and IGCSE alike
  • Past papers marked live during the call
  • Rescheduling is free when a shift changes

Term-break blocks for boarders

For a child boarding in Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore or further away who comes home for the holidays. Lessons run daily or on alternate days across a fortnight and tackle what the term left unfinished.

  • Built around the boarding school's own holiday calendar
  • Topic list agreed with the student at the start
  • Timed papers and written feedback
  • Works around Diwali and summer-break travel

Language-bridge sessions

Short, frequent lessons in the months before a switch from Hindi-medium to English-medium study: academic English, command words and subject vocabulary taught on the real syllabus, not on a separate course.

  • Word lists built topic by topic
  • Command-word practice on short questions
  • Weekly speaking task inside the lesson
  • Begins a term before the move where possible

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Umaria

01

Why would an Umaria family want IB or IGCSE tuition at all?

  • With no confirmed IB or Cambridge school in Umaria, demand arrives by other routes
  • Coalfield, power-plant, forest and government households make up most enquiries
  • A transfer or a plan to study abroad is the usual trigger
  • We match by exam session and the school of registration, never by postcode

Because a child's plans can reach well beyond the district. Umaria's working households are tied to the coalfield, the power plant, forest and wildlife work, government service and trade, and each of those can mean a transfer, a posting or a child sent away to board. A curriculum that follows the child is what draws the IB or IGCSE into the conversation, even though no school in the district teaches either.

Coal and power are the clearest cases. South Eastern Coalfields operates eight mines in the Johilla area around Nowrozabad, and the Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station has an installed capacity of 1,340 MW. Officers and engineers move between areas and plants, and families who have lived in larger cities often want a child kept on a programme that can be continued after the next move.

The Bandhavgarh economy is the second driver. Lodges, safari operators, guides and forest staff work around the park gates at Tala and Manpur, and some want their children to study environmental science, hospitality or conservation, subjects where overseas universities understand IB and Cambridge qualifications.

Finally there are households in government service and trade who decide, around Class 8 or 9, that the MP Board route is not the one they want for a child aiming at a university abroad. They are making a considered choice with limited local advice, and they usually appreciate being told plainly what each route demands before they commit.

02

MP Board, CBSE, IGCSE and IB: what changes for a child who crosses over?

  • Question wording, not topic difficulty, is the first shock for a board student
  • The change of medium can matter more than the change of board
  • Entrance-exam goals often favour CBSE; overseas goals favour IGCSE and IB
  • We say so when your current route is the better one

Mainly the kind of answer the paper wants. MP Board and CBSE questions usually name the topic and reward a well-learned response, while IGCSE and IB questions often wrap a familiar idea in an unfamiliar situation and ask the student to explain, justify or evaluate. The content may be close; the thinking required is different.

Language and assessment are the other two changes. An MP Board student in a Hindi-medium class is also moving into English-medium instruction, and into internal assessment that most state-board classrooms barely use. The IB attaches coursework to nearly every subject, while IGCSE adds practical or alternative-to-practical papers.

If JEE or NEET is the aim from Umaria, the CBSE route with coaching in Jabalpur or Kota is generally more direct. If the goal is a university in the UK, Canada, Australia or Europe, IGCSE followed by the Diploma or A Levels fits better. Both are sound; which one is right depends on where the child hopes to end up.

If you are unsure, send us your child's recent marks, the medium of instruction so far and the countries or courses you have in mind, and we will say honestly which route looks sensible, including when it is the one you already have.

Moving from Hindi-medium to English-medium: how long does the switch take?

  • Subject vocabulary is the quickest gap to close
  • Command words are taught explicitly, not left to chance
  • A short dip in marks after the switch is normal
  • Daily English reading speeds up everything else

Often a couple of terms of focused work, though it varies with age and confidence. The first change is vocabulary: a Class 9 child who understands photosynthesis perfectly in Hindi may not yet know stomata, diffusion or evaluate in English, and the paper will use all three. Subject words come first because they are finite and learnable; fluency follows from daily use.

Command words are the second hurdle. Describe, explain, compare, justify and evaluate each ask for a different shape of answer, and a student who writes one long paragraph for all of them loses marks in every paper. We practise them on short questions first, checking understanding in Hindi where tutor and student share it, then move wholly into English.

Speaking and listening matter for the oral components. The IB Language A oral, the IGCSE English Second Language speaking test and the discussion in TOK all reward fluency, and a child who never speaks English at home needs weekly conversation practice well before the exam, not in the final week.

Parents sometimes worry that the switch will damage marks in the short term. A dip in the first term is normal and usually reverses. What helps is a steady weekly lesson, fifteen minutes of English reading a day, and a tutor who does not rush.

04

What decides the fee for an IB or IGCSE tutor when you live in Umaria?

  • Rarity of subject and level changes the rate more than location does
  • Rate confirmed in writing before the free trial
  • No travel cost enters an Umaria online lesson
  • No extra charge to pause or switch tutors

There is no price list on this page, since the rate reflects tutor and course rather than the town. You get a written figure before the trial lesson, and nothing is charged until you agree to go on. Four things shift it: programme and level, how rare the subject is, how many sessions a week and how long, and how close the exam is.

Scarcity matters most. Few tutors in India have recently taught IB Physics HL or Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, so those sit above IGCSE Core subjects, where the pool is much wider. Unusual pairings such as Psychology HL also cost more than very common ones.

Umaria itself adds nothing to the bill, and takes nothing off it. A tutor in Pune and one in Lucknow quote the same for a Umaria student, because an online lesson involves no travel. Set that against the cost of sending a child to Jabalpur twice a week, which means a long bus or train ride each way.

Judge value by what happens during the hour. A tutor who has marked this year's papers can cover in one session what a generalist needs two for. We review progress every few weeks, a pause costs nothing, and an unsuitable tutor is replaced without fuss.

05

Online lessons beside Umaria's coaching centres, home tutors and self-study

  • Local coaching serves boards and entrances well, but not the IB or Cambridge
  • Recent IB or IGCSE marking experience is rare in a single district
  • Self-study needs a second reader for coursework
  • Online lessons fit around shift work

Coaching in a district town such as Umaria is shaped by common needs: MP Board revision, CBSE subjects, and entrance preparation for engineering and medicine. We found nothing aimed at IB or Cambridge syllabuses, and an IB Chemistry HL batch could hardly fill a room, so none should be expected.

Local home tutors are easy to find for school subjects. Someone who has recently marked Cambridge Physics papers or guided an IB Internal Assessment is a different search, and within one district it usually comes back empty. That is a supply problem, not a criticism of local teachers.

Self-study has real strength for IGCSE Mathematics, where past papers and mark schemes are widely available. What it cannot provide is a second reader for an Exploration draft or an extended answer, which is where the IB and Cambridge actually separate grades.

An online tutor changes the arithmetic. The pool widens from a district to a country, the lesson fits around a mine or plant shift, and a local class can still carry the MP Board subjects alongside.

Heat, monsoon and the school year around Umaria

  • May heat makes late-afternoon study unproductive
  • The monsoon cannot stop an online lesson, only a power cut can
  • Festival pauses are agreed in advance
  • Tourism-linked families can use the park's quiet months for intensive blocks

Umaria's weather sets the tone of the study year. Mean daily highs peak near 42 degrees Celsius in May, with a record of 48.7 degrees in April, so afternoons are a poor time to study and electricity can be strained. July and August together bring over 650 mm of rain, and January nights fall to around 7 degrees, so winter study at home needs warm rooms and early dusk.

The exam calendars arrive in that order. MP Board papers fall in February and March, the IB May session and Cambridge May-June series follow into the heat, and the November sessions arrive after Diwali. Results land in July for the IB and in August for Cambridge's June series, both during the monsoon.

Festivals also shape the weekly plan. Holi in March, Dussehra and Diwali in October and November, Eid, and the Kabir Das mela at Bandhavgarh each take evenings out of the household's week. Agreeing pauses at the start prevents lessons turning into a string of cancellations.

The park itself follows a rhythm that many families in the district live by: the safari season fills lodges and roads, while the monsoon closure empties them. For households tied to tourism the quiet months are the best time for an intensive block.

Where do Umaria students go after IB or IGCSE?

  • With AIU equivalence, the IB Diploma is valid for entry to Indian universities
  • Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur hold the main institutions within Madhya Pradesh
  • JEE, NEET and CUET-UG each set their own subject rules
  • Predicted grades carry weight in overseas applications

Three doors remain open together: an Indian university, a seat won through an entrance exam, or study overseas. The Association of Indian Universities treats the IB Diploma as the same as Class 12, the paper most admissions offices want. IGCSE leads to A Levels, the IB Diploma or Class 11 at another school, so it is really a decision about Class 11.

Within Madhya Pradesh the destinations are well known. Bhopal has MANIT, AIIMS Bhopal, IISER Bhopal and the National Law Institute University, Indore has IIT Indore and IIM Indore, and Jabalpur has Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur Engineering College, NSCB Medical College and the IIITDM. Students from Umaria usually reach them through JEE, NEET or CUET-UG rather than board marks alone.

Eligibility rules for those exams differ for IB and IGCSE students, and they change. JEE Main and NEET expect Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology in the qualifying examination, CUET-UG has its own registration rules for IB candidates, and some institutions ask for AIU equivalence documents. Read each year's information bulletin.

For overseas applications, the predicted grade a school issues in the autumn of the final year counts first, as UK offers are conditional on IB points with Higher Level minimums. We give no admissions advice; our work is on raising the grade and the understanding under it.

08

Choosing IB Diploma subject combinations, and Maths AA or AI, from Umaria

  • Destination first, subjects second
  • AA is for proof-minded students and AI for data-minded ones
  • The sciences changed for 2025, so choose a tutor on the current syllabus
  • Investigation, data and write-up always belong to the student

Subject combinations should follow the destination. A student aiming at engineering usually pairs Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL with Physics and Chemistry, one at Higher Level. A student aiming at medicine or life sciences pairs Biology and Chemistry at Higher Level with a Maths route at Standard Level. Economics and Business students often choose Applications and Interpretation.

Students who like algebra, proof and calculus suit Analysis and Approaches, and those drawn to statistics, modelling and technology suit Applications and Interpretation; neither is the easy option. The Exploration is worth one fifth of the grade, so settle its topic early, and remember that every word must be the student's.

The sciences were revised for first assessment in 2025, which means a tutor who learned them from the earlier guide will prepare the wrong paper structure. Physics HL is tight on time, Chemistry HL leans on organic mechanisms, and Biology depends on answering the precise command term.

A weekly online lesson in these subjects is not a lecture. The tutor sets a question, watches the student work it on a shared board, marks the attempt against the scheme and assigns a repeat. Repetition with feedback is what raises the grade, and it needs no laboratory at your door.

09

IGCSE Core or Extended, Cambridge or Edexcel: choosing from a small district

  • Core limits the grade, Extended opens the top
  • Environmental Management, Geography and Economics suit local examples
  • Cambridge and Edexcel need different preparation
  • Private candidates register through an authorised centre

Tiered subjects such as Mathematics, the sciences and English as a Second Language have a Core paper, which limits the grade, and an Extended paper, which reaches the top. The choice is typically made in Class 9 or early Class 10 and shapes how easy Class 11 feels. Anyone aiming at IB Maths AA or a science stream should be preparing for Extended.

A usual package contains English, Mathematics, one to three sciences, Hindi and some electives. For Umaria students, Environmental Management, Geography and Economics offer unusually rich local examples, from coal and forest to power and tourism, which strengthens the longer evaluative answers that decide the top grades.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel are more different than the shared label implies. Paper layout, coursework in some subjects and question wording all vary, so we begin with the syllabus code and the school's entry and then adapt practice. A tutor familiar with both specifications spares a student from rebuilding technique.

A candidate whose school does not sit the papers must apply through an authorised exam centre, and the closest ones are in larger cities. Registration shuts well ahead of each series. We describe the steps but do not register anyone.

Where we tutor

Umaria district towns and areas our online tutors serve

Lessons run over video, so the address is context rather than logistics: which school catchment a family sits in, how a coal or power-plant working day runs, and when the evenings are free. These are the places enquiries mention.

Umaria town and the station side

The district headquarters on the Katni-Bilaspur rail section, with government offices and the main market. Evenings are usually quiet enough for a video lesson.

Nowrozabad (Khodargama) and the Johilla area

The coalfield town that heads SECL's Johilla area. Kendriya Vidyalaya Nowrozabad sits in the GM Complex, and many households here are coal-company employees on rotating postings.

Pali and Birsinghpur

Site of the Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station at Mangthar, beside the Johila reservoir, so power-plant engineers' families are common.

Chandia

A railway town on the Katni-Bilaspur section, a handy reference point for households that travel to Jabalpur or Shahdol.

Manpur

The tehsil town nearest Bandhavgarh; resort staff, drivers, guides and shopkeepers live around it, along with teachers posted to village schools.

Tala and the Bandhavgarh gate villages

Lodge owners, naturalists and forest staff. The safari season shapes working hours, and the monsoon closure brings quieter evenings.

Karkeli

A tehsil headquarters with a largely agricultural and tribal population, where a stable internet connection is the main thing to confirm before booking.

The Shahdol road

Shahdol, the divisional headquarters 69 km away, is the nearest larger town and the reference for many families' shopping, banking and exam-centre trips.

The Katni and Jabalpur side

The road and rail route west, where the nearest large colleges, hospitals and exam centres are found.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Umaria

Umaria district itself

The district's schools run the MP Board or CBSE, and an edustoke listing for Umaria returned no entries to check. We confirmed no IB World School and no Cambridge or Edexcel centre, so tutoring here stands in for a campus that does not exist.

    Nearby: Jabalpur, roughly 180 km

The closest large city and the usual base for colleges, exam centres and hospital visits. Our checking for the Jabalpur page found one school offering IGCSE alongside CBSE.

    • Little World School

Nearby: Bhopal, a full day by road

The state capital has a residential Cambridge campus that some families weigh for boarding from Class 9, though most Bhopal families themselves study locally and use tutors.

    • Shrewsbury International School India

    Nearby: Indore

Madhya Pradesh's densest cluster of established IB and Cambridge schools, far from Umaria but the destination families usually mean when they say boarding in an international school.

    • Choithram International School
    • The Emerald Heights International School
    • Daly College

No school in Umaria district is named here as an IB or Cambridge provider, as none could be verified. Kendriya Vidyalaya Nowrozabad is mentioned only as a CBSE school, for context. Schools in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore are where Madhya Pradesh families look, not our partners. IB Gram has no agreement, sponsorship or endorsement with any of them or with the IB Organization, Cambridge Assessment International Education or Pearson Edexcel.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Umaria: your questions answered

How can a family in Umaria find an IB tutor?+

Send us the programme, subject, level and exam session by WhatsApp or email, and we put forward one tutor who has taught that course. Since no IB school is confirmed in Umaria district, the search spreads across India and not across town. Lessons are live video calls, the first is a free trial, and you can request a different tutor if the match is off.

Will a tutor come to our house in Umaria?+

No. In-person home tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, which leaves Umaria outside it. Your child receives private tuition from home as a live video lesson with a shared whiteboard, at their own desk. In a district where roads are long and monsoon-hit, many families find that works better.

Which schools in Umaria district teach IB or IGCSE?+

We could confirm none. District schools follow the MP Board or CBSE, and a listing search for Umaria returned no entries we could check. The nearest confirmed options are in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore. Families set on an international curriculum usually board a child there or study privately; verify any school's current affiliation yourself.

Can my child move from a Hindi-medium MP Board school to IGCSE or IB?+

Yes, with preparation. Gaps are usually in subject vocabulary, command words and extended English writing, not in ability. Begin a term before the move, build word lists topic by topic and practise explain, justify and evaluate on short questions. A dip in marks during the first term is normal and typically recovers.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for an Umaria student?+

Cost depends on programme, level, how scarce the subject is, session length and weekly frequency, and we put it in writing before the trial. Diploma Higher Level work generally costs more than IGCSE Core subjects. Because teaching is online there is no travel expense from Umaria, and no long contract holds you. Ask for a quote on the exact subject.

My child boards in Jabalpur, Bhopal or Indore. Can lessons run in the holidays?+

Yes, and the request is common. We match a tutor to the subject, level and syllabus the boarding school uses, then plan daily or alternate-day blocks around its holiday dates. In term time, evening slots work only if the school permits them. Agreeing a short topic list with your child up front keeps the break focused.

Do you offer Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE tutors for Umaria?+

Yes, through live online tutors matched to your child's board and syllabus code. Mathematics, the sciences, Environmental Management, Economics, English and Hindi are available. Give us the code and tier, for example 0580 Extended or 4PH1, and we confirm a specialist exists before the trial, using the correct past papers and mark schemes.

Can a tutor write my child's IA or Extended Essay?+

No. A tutor may help a student pick a workable question, see what each criterion rewards, plan data collection and respond to comments on a draft, but writing or rewriting assessed work breaks IB integrity rules, so our tutors refuse. The IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay and coursework stay the student's own.

What happens during a power cut or weak signal in Umaria?+

We reschedule without penalty. A lesson needs only power and a connection, so an outage on a hot summer afternoon or a stormy monsoon evening can interrupt it. Keep a charged laptop and a phone hotspot as backup, and prefer a fixed slot after the heat eases. Tell us your locality during the trial so we can plan accordingly.

Which IB Diploma subjects can you cover?+

Most mainstream subjects at HL and SL: both Maths routes, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, Geography, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Hindi, along with Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay guidance. Unusual combinations take longer to match, and we say plainly when no specialist is free.

Do you tutor IB MYP and PYP as well as the Diploma?+

Yes, across the full continuum. At PYP, tutoring builds reading, writing and number sense and the research habits behind the Exhibition. At MYP, it focuses on four-criteria marking in sciences, humanities and languages and on the Personal Project process journal. Families arriving on a transfer often request this to help a child settle.

Is the IB Diploma accepted for Indian universities and entrance exams?+

Broadly yes: the Association of Indian Universities treats the IB Diploma as equal to Class 12, and many universities accept it directly. Individual courses still set subject and mark requirements, and CUET-UG, JEE and NEET have separate eligibility rules for IB and IGCSE students. Read the latest notice for each course, and ask us to help interpret it.

When should my child start IB or IGCSE tutoring?+

From the day the course starts: Class 9 for IGCSE, Class 11 for the Diploma. That leaves time to repair foundations before internal exams, IA deadlines and predicted grades converge. A student who begins in the exam year can still improve if sessions target high-value topics and real past papers. Late starters should book a six to eight week sprint before the exams.

Is the first lesson really free?+

Yes. Every match opens with a free online trial lesson on a real topic from your child's own syllabus, with no obligation. A short plan and a written rate follow. If you proceed, lessons start at the agreed weekly time; if not, nothing is owed, and a different tutor can be requested whenever you like.

Can lessons fit around shift work or a transfer?+

Yes. Many Umaria households work shifts or may be posted elsewhere, so we fix the weekly slot around the real routine and move it when a shift changes. If a family relocates, the same tutor can usually continue, since the lesson is online and does not depend on where you live. All times are in Indian Standard Time.

What happens if my child and the tutor do not click?+

Let us know and we find someone else. Progress is reviewed every few weeks, and we switch as soon as something is plainly not working. No long contract binds you, and pausing or stopping carries no penalty. A tutor stays only as long as the student is truly learning.

Is IB Gram connected to SECL, any Umaria school or any examination board?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service. It has no affiliation with or endorsement from any school or company in Umaria district, the International Baccalaureate Organization, Cambridge Assessment International Education or Pearson Edexcel. Tutors follow your child's school calendar and the board's published syllabus.
