IB & IGCSE in Ujhani

International curricula for a family in a small industrial town near Budaun

Ujhani is a municipal town in Budaun district, somewhere between six and eleven kilometres from Budaun city depending on how you measure, with Bareilly about 65 kilometres away and Delhi close to 200. State Highway 33 runs toward Bareilly and Mathura, and State Highway 18 toward Delhi. Families here are farmers, traders, small manufacturers and government employees. The degree college is Ayodhya Prasad Memorial, and the ordinary school options are UP Board and CBSE schools, with the odd madrasa and convent school along the way.

So why would anybody in Ujhani ask about IB or IGCSE tuition? The answer is usually a child who has moved, or is about to. One family has a daughter at an international boarding school in Dehradun or Delhi NCR. Another has a relative abroad and plans to send a son to a university there after an IB Diploma. A third has a parent returning from the Gulf, with a child who began a Cambridge course in Sharjah or Muscat and cannot afford a gap.

Nothing in Ujhani or Budaun stocks tutors for these courses. We could not confirm a single IB or Cambridge school in the district, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we offer is an online tutor who has taught the exact syllabus and who meets your child on a screen, at a time that does not collide with fog, a festival procession or a power cut.

To be clear about what a tutor does: explain, question, mark and advise. The Internal Assessment, the Extended Essay, TOK essay and all coursework belong to the student. IB Gram is an independent business and is not linked to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any named school.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Ujhani school years

Since no IB programme is taught in Ujhani itself, each stage below is described as it reaches a local household: through a boarding place, a return from overseas, or a move planned a year ahead.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Children learn through big ideas explored across subjects, ending in a student-led Exhibition. With no exams to drill for, good tutoring is about steady reading, fluent arithmetic and learning how to frame a question worth investigating.

An Ujhani family meets the PYP mainly when a child arrives from an overseas school partway through, and needs the approach to stay familiar while a new school is found.

MYPAges 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Four assessment criteria per subject, interdisciplinary units and a Personal Project at the end. Students have to show their reasoning and reflect on it, which surprises those used to marks for final answers alone.

For a child at an MYP boarding school far from Ujhani, the long winter and summer breaks at home are the natural time to work through criteria that were only skimmed in term.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The final written exams are sat in May and results come out in early July; internal assessments are submitted months earlier.

A Diploma student linked to Ujhani typically studies at a school in another city, so tutoring follows that school's internal deadlines, not any date set at home.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller group of Diploma courses is combined with a career-related study, an approaches-to-learning course and a reflective project. Few Indian schools offer it, though the Diploma courses are taught at full depth.

Enquiries about the CP from Ujhani are unusual; when they come, the tutor focuses on the specific Diploma courses in the student's pathway.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

An IB Chemistry student stuck on equilibrium and an IB English student preparing an Individual Oral need entirely different help. We therefore start from the exact course and level, then pick a tutor, rather than from the broad label of IB.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Students who did well in Class 10 algebra often stall at functions and calculus in the Diploma, so lessons revisit technique and then build to Paper 3 style problem solving.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Data handling, probability distributions and graphic calculator skill take centre stage, along with writing a short conclusion that explains what the numbers mean.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Kinematics and forces get a firm footing first; later fields, waves and atomic physics follow, with graph-and-uncertainty practice for the investigation.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Amounts of substance, bonding and rates form the base, then organic reaction pathways and energetics, with practical reports reviewed for clarity of method.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cell biology, genetics and ecology are revisited through short retrieval quizzes, along with careful attention to what each command term demands.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Supply-demand diagrams, elasticities and market failure come first, then policy evaluation in the style Paper 3 expects.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Students practise applying a concept to the named case firm, and the Business Research Project gets a realistic plan and timetable early.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Paper 1 is taught as a repeatable routine, and the Individual Oral is rehearsed aloud until the student can speak clearly for the full time.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms and data structures are taught with live coding, since the internal assessment needs a working program and documentation that match.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Key studies are learned with their aims, methods and evaluation, then used to build arguments that answer the exact wording of the question.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems diagrams, human impacts and real case studies are combined so that answers show cause, effect and judgement.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies with real numbers are rehearsed, and the fieldwork report is checked for a method another student could repeat.

IB History

HL / SL

Source evaluation and the sustained argument are trained separately, with short timed plans before every full essay.

IB Hindi A / B

HL / SL

For a Hindi-speaking student, sessions focus on literary analysis, formal writing and exam technique, often a chance to secure marks early.

IB Urdu B

SL / HL

Families in the Budaun region who want Urdu as their second language get grammar, script accuracy and oral confidence practice.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE papers are built differently, so the first step is to confirm the board, the syllabus code and the tier. Students may sit the May-June or the October-November series, and Hindi or Urdu can be offered alongside English-medium subjects.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended students practise non-calculator arithmetic and algebra first, then multi-step geometry and statistics under timed conditions.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

A short course in calculus, functions and trigonometry that prepares a student well for IB Maths AA or A Level.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Formulae, units and the alternative-to-practical paper are taught together, since the practical skills paper is where easy marks slip away.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations and electrolysis are rebuilt step by step, and qualitative analysis is learned as a procedure instead of a list of colours.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Genetics, enzymes and human transport are explained with diagrams that the student redraws unaided to expose gaps.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Diagrams, definitions and data-response questions are practised until a student can write a short, structured explanation confidently.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Algorithms, binary and Boolean logic are taught with real programming, because Paper 2 rewards problem-solving rather than memorising terms.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Directed writing and narrative pieces are written under time, then marked for register, structure and accuracy.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

Reading comprehension, letters and compositions are practised with model answers and close feedback on grammar.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Ujhani school timetables

No tutor visits homes in Ujhani; home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so each format below is online. You can choose between a fixed weekly lesson, a longer supported arrangement, or a dense block timed to a holiday or exam.

Fixed weekly online lesson

A recurring slot, the same tutor, a shared screen and past papers. It suits a student who is already in an IB or IGCSE course and needs a reliable second pair of eyes.

  • One regular time that becomes a habit
  • Marked practice papers returned with comments
  • Slots that avoid school hours and market evenings
  • A written summary after each lesson

Planned support across a term

A structured series of classes mapped to a term or to an internal assessment cycle, with a monthly check on what has been covered and how timed questions are going.

  • Lessons follow the student's real syllabus order
  • A monthly progress note shared with parents
  • Pauses for festival weeks without penalty
  • Tutor change available if style does not suit

Short intensive before an exam or during a break

A compressed block of classes across a school holiday or before a May or November series, where each timed paper is marked quickly so there is still time to act on it.

  • Daily or alternate-day sessions
  • Quick marking to current criteria
  • Weakest topics revisited within days
  • Best booked two weeks before the break begins

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ujhani

01

Schools, boards and families in and around Ujhani

  • No IB or IGCSE school could be confirmed in Budaun district
  • Demand comes from boarders, returnees and families planning a move
  • Tutors teach online; none comes to Ujhani homes
  • Board standards are the same in every town

The schooling picture in Ujhani and Budaun is familiar to anyone from western Uttar Pradesh. UP Board schools, Hindi-medium and English-medium, serve the majority. CBSE is present in a handful of private schools, and there are convent schools and madrasas. We looked for IB and Cambridge schools in the district and could not confirm any, which is why nothing is named in our local cluster.

Demand for international boards therefore comes from outside the town's school system. There are boarding students at schools in Dehradun, Mussoorie or Delhi NCR, who come home to Ujhani for winter and summer breaks. There are families with a member working in the Gulf or further away, whose children began Cambridge or IB elsewhere. And there are parents who have decided that a university abroad is the goal.

These households have one thing in common: the tutors who can help are not in Ujhani. The right person is a specialist who marks Cambridge papers or IB internal assessments every week, and they could be in Pune, Kolkata or Gurugram. Online delivery puts that specialist in your child's room for an hour, without anyone travelling.

It also removes a hidden risk. Exam boards publish identical standards for every candidate, and local coaching that targets UP Board or JEE patterns can mislead a student who needs the IB's analytical style or Cambridge's structured papers. A tutor who knows the target exam avoids that mismatch.

02

How do IB and IGCSE compare with UP Board, CBSE and ICSE?

  • IB and IGCSE are taught and assessed in English
  • Internal assessments count towards every IB subject grade
  • IGCSE Extended tiers open the highest grades
  • Bridging a few months before a switch is worthwhile

The short answer is that IB and IGCSE examine how well a student can use knowledge, while UP Board and to a lesser extent CBSE examine how well a student can reproduce it. An IB Biology paper might give you an unseen graph from a research study and ask you to interpret it; a UP Board paper asks you to write what a textbook says about a topic.

Medium of instruction also differs. Many Ujhani students study in Hindi up to Class 8 or 10, then move to English-medium science and mathematics. IB and IGCSE assume English throughout, apart from language subjects, and scientific vocabulary can be a real hurdle. Practice with a tutor who will correct phrasing gently is one of the quickest ways to gain confidence.

Mathematics is another point of contrast. NCERT mathematics gives strong algebra and geometry, which helps, but IGCSE Extended Maths includes more statistics and IB Maths AI relies on calculators. Students arriving from CBSE find they must learn to show method marks and to explain answers in words.

Finally, coursework is central in the IB. Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay are spread over months; students used to cramming for a February board exam need to learn to work steadily. A tutor can help with pacing and with understanding criteria, while the work stays the student's own.

What decides the price of IB or IGCSE tuition for a family in Ujhani?

  • Subject and level scarcity drive the rate
  • No travel surcharge for Ujhani
  • Rate is fixed in writing before payment
  • Trial, notes and tutor change are included

A tutor's rate reflects how many people can teach the subject at that level. IGCSE Mathematics Core has plenty; IB Chemistry HL, IB Computer Science HL or IGCSE Additional Mathematics have far fewer. Since we do not publish price lists, which can mislead, the rate for your child is given in writing before the first paid lesson, and it does not change afterwards.

The number of hours a week matters. A student with a month to a major exam benefits from two or three lessons a week; a student with a full year may need one. We suggest a pattern and explain why, and you may adjust it at any point without penalty.

Because teaching is online, Ujhani families pay no travel cost and the tutor's city does not raise the price. What you should check instead is experience with your board: a tutor who marked the same syllabus last term will usually make faster progress per hour than a broader generalist.

Also ask what comes with a lesson. In our case there is a free trial, a written note after every session, marked papers and a tutor change if the match fails. Comparing these inclusions is a better test of value than a headline hourly figure.

Online home tuition, coaching classes, local tutors and self-study: which works in Ujhani?

  • Coaching classes target Indian entrance exams, not IB papers
  • Self-study needs a marker to be effective
  • Online lessons suit students who cannot travel
  • Plan a backup for fog-season power cuts

Coaching classes in Budaun and Bareilly focus on UP Board, CBSE, JEE and NEET. They give structure and competition, which suits some students, but they do not teach IB or IGCSE syllabi, and travelling to Budaun adds hours to a school day.

Local private tutors are valuable for school subjects and for a child who needs personal attention in Hindi medium. The difficulty arises with Cambridge or IB syllabi: very few tutors in the area have seen a Cambridge 0625 paper or an IB internal assessment rubric, so a student may be taught the wrong emphasis.

Self-study is realistic for a motivated IGCSE student, as past papers and mark schemes are free. What is missing is feedback. Without an experienced marker explaining how a mark was lost, weaknesses persist; and for IB coursework, guidance on criteria is where a tutor adds most.

A matched online tutor combines the benefits: personal attention, a syllabus specialist and a flexible slot, all without leaving home. The price is a reliable connection and a quiet place to work, which can be hard in a busy household or during winter fog when power may fail.

How do fog, harvests and festivals affect the study year in Ujhani?

  • Fog season calls for a backup connection
  • Wheat harvest can disrupt April revision
  • Festival weeks should be planned as breaks
  • Summer study works best in early morning

Western Uttar Pradesh winters are cold and foggy. From mid-December to late January, visibility and temperatures drop, schools sometimes shut or shorten days, and evenings are dark early. Students taking mock exams in this stretch should plan for warm rooms, a charged laptop and a backup for power cuts, since an interrupted lesson loses momentum.

Spring is harvest time for wheat, around April, and a busy one for farming households in the villages around Ujhani. Some children help their families, and travel to relatives is common. This coincides with the IB May session and the Cambridge May-June series, so revision needs to be planned well before the harvest rush.

Festivals punctuate the year. Holi in March, Eid, Muharram with its processions, Diwali in autumn and the wedding season in winter all bring visiting and travel. A lesson plan that marks these weeks as breaks, and adds extra sessions beforehand, is more realistic than one that assumes full attendance every week.

Summer heat from May to June is severe and power supply can be unreliable, so students are best placed to study early in the morning. Monsoon arrives in July, bringing relief and sometimes waterlogging. For students sitting the November series, August to October is the critical window, with Diwali often falling in it.

Where do Ujhani students go after IB or IGCSE?

  • Request AIU equivalence early for Indian universities
  • CUET-UG is open to international board students
  • Verify JEE and NEET eligibility for your subject set
  • Match HL subjects to target degree prerequisites

A student completing the IB Diploma has two broad routes: study in India or study abroad. For Indian universities, the Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence for IB and for IGCSE-plus-A-Level routes, and the certificate is commonly needed at admission. Applying early avoids last-minute delays with certificates and marksheets.

Central universities admit through CUET-UG, which international board students can take. Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University are frequent targets for Uttar Pradesh families, and each has its own eligibility notes for IB and IGCSE students. Check the current admission bulletin, since rules change.

For engineering and medicine, JEE Main and NEET have their own rules on qualifications and subjects. IB students should confirm that their Diploma subject combination satisfies them before choosing HL subjects. We do not promise seats and cannot advise on individual eligibility; the current information bulletins are the only reliable source.

Many families also look at the UK, Canada, the US, Australia and Singapore. Each asks for specific subject prerequisites and strong predicted grades. Tutors help with understanding and exam technique, but personal statements and application essays must be the student's own.

07

IB Maths AA and AI, and the sciences, for an Ujhani student

  • AA for engineering and mathematics routes
  • AI for data, business and social science routes
  • Practise unseen data questions weekly
  • Investigations must be the student's own work

IB Maths AA is aimed at students who will go on to engineering, physics or mathematics, while AI serves those heading to economics, social sciences or business. Students used to NCERT often pick AA by default, but AI can be more suitable for a student who is stronger in applied reasoning than in abstract proof.

Whichever course is chosen, the mathematical exploration is a long piece of independent work. A tutor helps the student select a topic that is manageable, plan the stages and understand the criteria. The exploration itself, the writing and the calculations remain the student's own.

IB Physics, Chemistry and Biology share a pattern: a great deal of content, mixed with data-based questions, and a practical investigation. Students from Indian boards are usually strong on formula recall and weaker on explaining reasoning in words. Regular practice with unseen data is the quickest remedy.

Internal investigations need an original question and a repeatable method. The tutor asks the questions that help a student refine the plan; the data collection, analysis and write-up are done by the student alone.

08

IGCSE Core or Extended, and choosing subjects at Ujhani

  • Extended tier suits future Maths AA and A Level students
  • Match board and syllabus code exactly
  • Additional Mathematics helps with calculus
  • A diagnostic lesson helps settle tier

In Cambridge Mathematics and the sciences, Core limits the top grade to a C, while Extended opens A* to C. A student who wants IB Maths AA, A Level or an engineering degree should usually aim for Extended, since the later step up is smaller and predicted grades carry more weight.

Subject combinations shape options. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry keep engineering open; Biology keeps medicine open; Economics and Business Studies point to commerce and management. English is essential almost everywhere, and Hindi or Urdu as a second language suits families planning to stay in India.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel papers differ in style, so the tutor must work from the same board and code as the school. We match by exact syllabus, including Additional Mathematics where taken, and by the series the student will sit.

If a school has not yet decided on tier, a diagnostic lesson can show whether Extended is realistic. It is a fairer way to decide than guessing, and is part of the free trial.

09

How does an Ujhani family get matched with a tutor?

  • Share board, subject, level and timings
  • Get a short, reasoned shortlist
  • Take a free trial on a live topic
  • Receive written notes after each class

You write to us on WhatsApp or email with the board, subject, level, school or exam date and the times that suit. We reply with a short shortlist of tutors chosen for recent experience in that exact course, not a long list to sift through.

Since Ujhani has no local pool, we search the whole country. Tutors are in India and teach on Indian time, which keeps lessons at civilised hours for a household with a school morning ahead.

The trial lesson is real, free and on a topic your child is working on. Afterwards you receive a short written note on what was covered and what to do next, and you decide whether to go ahead.

If the fit is wrong we change the tutor without fuss. If it is right, the routine settles into a weekly lesson with a monthly review. Rates are in writing before any paid lesson.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ujhani: your questions answered

How can I find an IB tutor in Ujhani?+

Send your child's programme, subject and level to us, and we match a tutor who has taught that syllabus recently. Sessions are live online, so the tutor does not need to be in Ujhani. You receive a shortlist, a free trial and a written rate before paying. Write to support@ibgram.com or WhatsApp +91 7439 368 115 with the subject, exam session and preferred evening times.

Are IGCSE tutors available for students in Ujhani?+

Yes, for both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, delivered online. Tutors are matched by syllabus code, such as 0580 Mathematics or 0620 Chemistry, and by tier. We can prepare students for the May-June or October-November series and help you decide between Core and Extended if the school has not done so yet.

Will a tutor come to my home in Ujhani?+

No, tutors do not visit homes in Ujhani. In-person tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Our online home tuition lets your child learn at home, one-to-one, through a live video class where the tutor shares papers and a whiteboard. Many Ujhani families find it more practical than travelling to Budaun or Bareilly for classes.

What is the fee for IB or IGCSE tuition in Ujhani?+

It depends on the level, the subject and the number of lessons a week, and you get the figure in writing before any payment. Higher Level IB subjects and less common IGCSE papers typically cost more because fewer tutors teach them. There is no extra for Ujhani, and pausing or stopping costs nothing. A free trial lesson is included.

Is there any school in Ujhani that teaches the IB or IGCSE?+

We could not confirm any school in Ujhani or Budaun district that teaches the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, so none is named. The nearest large groups we have verified are in Delhi NCR, Agra and Lucknow. Please check directly with a school before relying on our list, as programmes can change.

My child boards at an international school far from Ujhani. Can a tutor help over the breaks?+

Yes, and this is a common request. A tutor can run a short intensive over a winter or summer break, revising topics from term and marking timed papers. Share the boarding school's board, syllabus and exam dates, and we will plan a block that leaves time for feedback to be used before the student returns.

Is there a free trial lesson?+

Yes. Every match starts with a free trial lesson on something your child is actually studying. You can see how the tutor explains, what they ask and how your child responds, without paying or signing anything. If it is not right, we offer another tutor. No obligation follows the trial.

Can a tutor help with my child's IB Internal Assessment?+

A tutor can explain the criteria, help choose a manageable topic and comment on drafts your child has written, but will not write, edit or complete any assessed work. Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and TOK essays must be the student's own. That protects your child's grade and their standing with the IB.

Which IB Diploma subjects can tutors teach in Ujhani?+

Maths AA and AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, Computer Science, English A, Psychology, ESS, Geography, History and languages such as Hindi and Urdu, at HL and SL. If your subject is not listed, tell us and we will check for a suitable tutor.

Do you teach IB MYP and PYP students from Ujhani?+

Yes. MYP tutoring concentrates on criteria, command terms and the Personal Project; PYP support focuses on reading, number sense and unit work. Most enquiries at these levels come from families returning from abroad, or whose children have started the programme in a boarding school, and who need continuity.

Is online tuition as effective as face-to-face for IB or IGCSE?+

For most students it is, provided the connection and study space are reliable. The tutor sees the same work, marks the same papers and explains on a shared whiteboard. Younger children may need shorter lessons. We suggest headphones, a quiet corner and a backup data option, especially in fog season when power cuts are common.

    How are the tutors selected?+

Each tutor is reviewed for subject knowledge, recent experience with the relevant IB or IGCSE course and clarity of explanation. We look at which syllabi they have taught and how they mark, not only at qualifications. You decide on fit in the free trial and may change tutor if it does not suit.

When is the right time to begin tutoring?+

Ideally some months before a milestone such as a school move, Class 11 or an exam series, so that gaps can be closed calmly. If an exam is near, a short focused block on the highest-value topics can still help, although starting early is more effective.

My child is switching from UP Board or CBSE to IGCSE. Is help available?+

Yes. A tutor compares your child's current syllabus with the IGCSE one, maps the gaps and builds English scientific vocabulary. The largest adjustments are usually the exam style, the tier choice and the practical skills paper. Starting two or three months before the move makes the first term much easier.

Can lessons be held on weekends or late evenings?+

Yes, most Ujhani families choose weekday evenings or weekend mornings. We avoid school hours and plan around fog, festival weeks and power cuts where possible. If an outage ruins a lesson, we reschedule it without penalty and the tutor shares notes so little time is lost.

What if we are not happy with a tutor?+

Tell us, and we will provide another tutor, usually within days and with no charge for the change. A poor fit is not your child's fault. There is no long contract, and the lesson notes carry over so the new tutor continues from where the last stopped.

Is IB Gram linked to any school, the IB or Cambridge?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service with no affiliation to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school named here. School names are for context and may change. We do not arrange admissions and do not claim that a tutor will secure any particular grade or university place.
