IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Private Tuition in Tiptur

Tiptur parents looking for home tuition for an IB or IGCSE child will find it as a live online lesson, not a visit: the tutor is on the screen, the student is at the family table. Schools in this coconut town follow the Karnataka state board or CBSE, and we found no IB or Cambridge school in Tiptur, so the tutor is matched by subject from across India.

  • Tutors are chosen for the exact subject, level and exam board
  • No tutor visits homes in Tiptur; lessons are live and online
  • The first lesson is free, before any payment is discussed
  • Independent of every Tiptur school, the IB, Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel

IB & IGCSE in Tiptur

What IB and IGCSE tutoring means for a family in Tiptur

Tiptur is called Kalpataru Nadu, the land of the coconut palm, and its name is said to come from the Kannada word for copra. The market yard holds auctions twice a week, desiccated coconut plants ship abroad, and many households run on trade, farming or teaching. Its schools, from old government high schools to newer private ones, follow the Karnataka state board or CBSE. We found no school here that teaches the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE.

That is why the useful form of private tuition here is online. IB Gram tutors do not come to houses in Tiptur; in-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A student logs in from home in the evening, the tutor works on a shared whiteboard and marked papers, and the lesson is one to one, which is what most families mean by home tuition anyway.

Families who ask are a mix. Some have a child who began the IB or IGCSE in Bengaluru, about 140 km away, and have since moved home to the plantations or the family business. Others have a daughter planning to study abroad, or a son who will soon join a Bengaluru international school and needs a bridge. Doctors, engineers from the local college and traders in copra all appear among them.

The tutor explains, sets practice, marks papers and comments on the student's own drafts. A tutor does not write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays or TOK essays, and IB Gram has no link with any school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

At a glance

  • One-to-one private tuition from home, delivered as a live online lesson
  • IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP, and Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Evening and weekend slots, all in Indian Standard Time
  • Written note after each lesson and an easy tutor change
  • Home visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, not in Tiptur
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Tiptur school years

No school in Tiptur runs an IB programme, so a student meets one of them by continuing from a Bengaluru school, by following it privately beside Karnataka board or CBSE schooling, or by preparing for a move. The summaries below describe what each stage asks and how tutoring helps.

PYPKindergarten-Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Young children in the PYP learn through units of inquiry, for instance how plants are used or how communities share resources, and each unit draws on language, maths and science together. The programme ends with an Exhibition where pupils present their own investigation. There are no marks to chase, so tutoring aims at fluent reading, number confidence and curious questioning.

A PYP question from Tiptur usually concerns a younger child who began the programme in Bengaluru and needs steady support at home.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Each MYP subject has four assessment criteria, such as knowing, investigating, communicating and reflecting, so a student is graded on how well they show each skill. The Personal Project closes the programme, and some schools add external eAssessment. Students have to learn to read criteria as carefully as they read the textbook.

MYP enquiries from Tiptur often concern Class 7 to 9 students who need criteria coaching and help planning the Personal Project.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

The Diploma is a two-year course of six subjects, with TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS on top. Internal assessments contribute to most grades, and the final exams arrive in May or November. It rewards students who work steadily and plan deadlines well.

A Tiptur student on the Diploma will be registered with a school elsewhere, so tutors follow that school's timetable, deadlines and exam session.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

The CP combines two or more Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective project. Few Indian schools run it. Tutoring usually supports the Diploma courses within a student's chosen pathway.

CP questions from Tiptur are uncommon; if one arises, the tutoring plan covers the Diploma-level subjects in the pathway.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Every tutor is chosen after the course and level are fixed. A Tiptur student planning engineering through Maths AA HL needs something different from one heading to agriculture science or business, so subject and level lead the search, and lessons then follow the student's school and exam session.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Students strong in Karnataka board or CBSE calculus still have to learn to handle long, unfamiliar problems and to show full reasoning.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and technology carry this course, and an exploration built on real data, such as coconut yields or market prices, is well suited to it.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Much of the content overlaps with PUC Physics, but the IB adds uncertainty analysis, data-based questions and a designed investigation.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic reactions are asked as reasoning questions, and students must plan practical work that stands up to scrutiny.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Command terms set the marks; a student who knows the topic but answers a different verb than the one asked will lose credit.

IB Economics

HL / SL

A town shaped by a commodity market gives students real examples of supply, price and trade for their diagrams and commentaries.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case papers reward applying theory to the firm described, and the internal project can study a real local business with the owner's permission.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Timed commentary and comparison essays, plus a spoken oral, call for regular writing and speaking practice.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithm questions on paper and a working solution for the internal assessment both need early and repeated practice.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies are to be described accurately and used as evidence in an argument, not merely named.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Plantation agriculture, groundwater and monsoon variability provide real cases; examiners look for balanced evaluation.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Named case studies, real figures and a fieldwork method others could repeat are expected throughout.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and extended argument are separate skills, and practice on timed questions helps with both.

IB Kannada & Hindi B

HL / SL

Kannada is the home language for most students in Tiptur; formal written tasks need accurate register and text types, and Hindi B is a common second choice.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion-led coaching on the exhibition and essay, with the tutor questioning arguments and the student writing every word.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics papers are built differently, so a family should confirm the board and code first. Preparation is then planned backwards from the exam window: Cambridge in May-June or October-November, Edexcel in January, May-June or November.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Working shown by hand is where method marks come from, so practice covers full solutions at pace with and without a calculator.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Early calculus, functions and trigonometry that make IB Maths AA easier to start for students who plan to continue.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Wording and mark allocation differ from Cambridge, so practice comes from Edexcel papers and their own examiner reports.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Rearranging formulae, describing experiments in words and the alternative-to-practical paper need focused drills.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations, reactivity and identification tests are asked in numbers and in written explanation.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Extended answers on transport, genetics and ecology need clear sequence, and graph questions reward careful reading.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Diagrams are the easy marks, and a balanced evaluation paragraph is the part that needs guided practice.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Tracing pseudocode by hand and writing programs are practised together so each supports the other.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

A second-language option many Karnataka students take beside English; lessons cover reading, directed writing and speaking practice.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Tiptur school timetables

Every Tiptur lesson runs online, but the reasons vary. Some families want a regular weekly class beside a local school, some support a child whose school is in Bengaluru, and some need a short burst before an exam. These are the three patterns we see most.

Regular weekly lessons at home

One tutor, one evening slot, moving through the syllabus in order and resolving doubts from school. Most students from Grade 9 or Class 11 begin this way.

  • The same tutor builds a record of the student's progress
  • Shared whiteboard, screen and marked past papers each week
  • Suits IGCSE from Grade 9 or DP from Class 11
  • A short written note for parents after every lesson

Bridge before a move to Bengaluru

For a student who will join an international school in Bengaluru, lessons cover the gaps between Karnataka board learning and the new syllabus, so the first term is less of a shock.

  • Focuses on command words, coursework habits and subject depth
  • Timed to finish before the new school term begins
  • Tutor can continue after the move if the student wishes
  • Plan is adjusted as school details become clear

Exam-season push

Lessons become more frequent in the last weeks, using timed papers, mark scheme reading and fast feedback, all set around SSLC, PUC weeks and festivals.

  • Papers marked against the current specification
  • Feedback usually within two days
  • Planned around Ugadi, Dasara and Deepavali
  • Begin six to eight weeks before the exam date

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Tiptur

01

Where can a Tiptur family find IB or IGCSE teaching?

  • No IB or IGCSE school was confirmed in Tiptur
  • Bengaluru is the nearest major cluster of schools
  • A school switch means moving or boarding
  • Online tutoring starts at home without disruption

Not in Tiptur town itself, as far as school directories and affiliation lists show. The schools and colleges here are state board or CBSE, including the local first-grade and engineering colleges, and none is listed as an IB or Cambridge centre. A family that wants either qualification has to look outward.

Bengaluru is the obvious place, reached in roughly three hours by road or by the train line through Tumakuru. It has the country's densest group of IB and Cambridge schools, with day and boarding places. Daily attendance from Tiptur is not realistic, so a move, a rented flat or boarding would be required for a school switch.

The families who stay in Tiptur and ask about IB and IGCSE tutors in Tiptur include returning residents, parents with overseas plans and households in the copra trade who want a global credential for a child. For them, tutoring bridges the lack of a local school and keeps choices open for later.

The paper does not change with the address. A Cambridge candidate in Tiptur sits the same question paper as one in Bengaluru, and IB work is moderated worldwide. The real variable is how well the preparation matches the current specification, which is why tutors are chosen for recent experience with it.

02

How do IB and IGCSE differ from the Karnataka board and CBSE?

  • IB and IGCSE ask students to reason, not only to recall
  • Internal work is planned and revised over weeks
  • HL Maths and Physics go beyond PUC depth
  • A trial lesson shows how a student copes with the style

Karnataka's SSLC and PUC, like CBSE, reward accurate recall and steady coverage of a set syllabus. That approach suits Tiptur's strong tradition of school results and competitive exams such as the state CET and NEET. IB and IGCSE ask students to use ideas in new settings, to explain reasoning in full sentences and to compare viewpoints, which can feel odd at first.

Internal work is a major difference. In SSLC or PUC, practical marks are a small share and mostly predictable. In IB subjects, an internal assessment can be around a fifth of the grade, marked against published criteria and moderated, and IGCSE has coursework or practical elements in several subjects. Planning and revising over weeks is a new habit.

Depth differs too. IB HL Maths and Physics run beyond PUC, while IGCSE Extended is wide but is tested analytically rather than through repeated question types. The Diploma also asks for a breadth of subjects, including a language, a humanity and a second science, which a PUC science stream student rarely studies.

A move is a family choice. The IB suits students who want wide subject choice and overseas options. The PUC path remains simpler for a student aiming at a Karnataka engineering or medical seat through CET or NEET. A tutor can show the workload before the family decides.

03

What shapes the price of IB or IGCSE tutoring in Tiptur?

  • Level, subject, tutor experience and lesson length set the rate
  • No travel cost, which matters at 140 km from Bengaluru
  • An experienced specialist can need fewer lessons
  • No lock-in; rates are given in writing first

Four things: the level, the subject's rarity, the tutor's experience with the syllabus and the lesson length and frequency. A Higher Level science or maths tutor who has taught the current guide costs more than one for IGCSE Core subjects, simply because fewer exist. The family is told the rate in writing before any lesson is booked.

Living in Tiptur changes nothing on the bill. The lesson is online, so the family spends nothing on travelling to Tumakuru or Bengaluru for a class, and the tutor spends nothing either. A weekly journey of 140 km to a city tutor would cost more in time and fuel than the lesson itself, which is why online tuition saves real money here.

A lower rate can cost more overall. A tutor who is learning the syllabus beside the student spends early lessons catching up, while a specialist who has guided several Extended Essays or marked Cambridge papers recently reaches the same point in fewer hours.

Commitment is light: no long term, no fee paid far in advance and no penalty for a pause during exams or festivals. A tutor who is not working out is replaced. IB Gram does not publish a rate card, since the right figure depends on the factors above.

04

Online tuition, local home tutors, coaching classes or self-study in Tiptur?

  • Local coaching targets SSLC, PUC, CET and NEET
  • Local tutors suit school subjects and younger children
  • Self-study lacks expert feedback on drafts
  • Online tuition gives specialist choice at home

Tiptur has tutors for school subjects and a number of coaching classes aimed at SSLC, PUC, CET and NEET. They serve those goals well. A class for IB Economics HL or Cambridge Additional Mathematics cannot fill a batch in a town of this size, so the option simply does not exist locally.

A local home tutor brings familiarity and is helpful for a younger child who needs reassurance. For a Class 11 student facing the Diploma, the gap in syllabus knowledge becomes clear quickly, because few local tutors have taught the current IB guides or a Cambridge or Edexcel specification.

Self-study suits a motivated student with past papers and mark schemes, and IGCSE Business Studies or Computer Science can be advanced this way. The weak spots are the planning of an investigation, the structure of an extended answer and repeated mistakes that only a reader notices.

Online one-to-one lessons combine personal attention with a national pool of specialists. The student is at home in the evening, the tutor on the screen, and the lesson uses a shared whiteboard and marked papers. The one condition is a dependable internet connection, which is worth testing at the start.

How do Tiptur's market days, monsoon and festivals shape the study year?

  • Wednesday and Saturday auctions keep some households busy
  • Monsoon rain can affect power and internet
  • Ugadi, Dasara and Deepavali pause normal routines
  • Use summer and Dasara breaks for focused blocks

At about 860 metres above sea level Tiptur is milder than the Karnataka plains, with summers averaging mid-thirties and cool winter mornings. April and May still bring heat, and the monsoon months can interrupt power and internet. A phone hotspot is a sensible backup during heavy rain, and lessons in peak summer are best held in the early evening.

The working week follows the coconut trade. The market yard holds copra auctions on Wednesday and Saturday, and many households have a member busy those days, so lessons on those evenings are better planned with care. Ugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dasara and Deepavali bring longer pauses, and Ramzan shapes evenings for Muslim families.

On the exam side, Karnataka holds SSLC in March-April and the second PUC exams in March, Cambridge offers sessions in May-June and October-November, Edexcel adds January, and the IB holds May and November sessions. A student with a Bengaluru school sits the DP in May, while an independent IGCSE candidate selects the session that fits their preparation.

The best windows for concentrated work are the summer break after April and the Dasara holidays. A focused block then, with lighter weekly lessons during term, is the pattern that works for most Tiptur students.

06

Where do Tiptur students go after IB or IGCSE?

  • Bengaluru is the nearest major higher-education centre
  • AIU equivalence and subject mix matter for JEE, NEET and CET
  • Overseas applications depend on predicted grades in the autumn
  • Tutoring supports subject strength, not admissions paperwork

Bengaluru is the main destination, with its universities, engineering and medical colleges and a large international-school community. Others go to Mysuru, Mangaluru or outside Karnataka, and a smaller group applies abroad. A qualification with global recognition helps most where a family already imagines a move beyond the state.

For Indian admission, an IB or IGCSE-based record normally needs equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities. JEE Main, NEET and Karnataka's CET each look for specific subjects and levels, and CUET-UG is the route to many central universities. Families should check how Karnataka treats international-board applicants before settling subject choices.

Overseas applications follow an earlier timetable. UK universities request predicted IB points or A Level grades in autumn of the final year, and American colleges combine predictions with essays and references. Predicted grades therefore depend on work from Class 11, so steady preparation matters early.

A tutor contributes the academic part: teaching the subject properly, lifting predicted grades where there is room and improving exam technique. Choosing courses, writing statements and filling in applications stay with the family and the school counsellor.

07

Maths and science depth: what a Tiptur student should expect

  • Long Maths AA problems need a stated plan before the algebra starts
  • Maths AI explorations can be built on plantation or market data
  • Sciences reward defended answers with units and error analysis
  • Biology marks follow the exact command verb

PUC Maths prepares a student well for algebra and calculus drills. Analysis and Approaches then adds papers where a problem runs across a page and the route is left for the candidate to find. Early lessons with a tutor tend to be about habits: stating what is being assumed, keeping units alongside numbers, and choosing one method on purpose instead of trying three.

Applications and Interpretation goes the other way, towards data and modelling. A student in a copra-trading town has unusually good raw material for the exploration: a season of auction prices, rainfall beside yield, the running costs of a small desiccating unit. The numbers must be collected and analysed by the student, and settling the question in Class 11 saves a scramble later.

Physics and Chemistry shift the emphasis from getting the answer to defending it. Quantities carry units and sensible precision, a practical comes with an error discussion, and several questions start with justify or suggest. Students who have never had a full laboratory behind them need a plan for an investigation that works on ordinary school or home equipment.

Biology is decided by the verb in the question. Describe, outline, explain and evaluate each have a different answer shape, and marks follow the shape. A tutor reads a student's scripts side by side with the mark scheme so the pattern of slips becomes visible and fixable.

08

Which IGCSE tier, board and subject mix suits a Tiptur student?

  • Extended keeps the Diploma and A Level doors open
  • Additional Mathematics pairs well with later IB Maths AA
  • Hindi as a second language adds a dependable grade
  • Board choice follows dates, papers and tutor experience

In a school the timetable settles this; at home the family does. Extended runs from A* to E and leaves the IB Diploma and A Levels reachable. Core stops at grade C and suits a student who wants a certificate without the heavier content. Beginning on Extended and looking again after the first mock paper protects a student who is unsure.

Two pairings pay off later. Mathematics 0580 at Extended plus Additional Mathematics 0606 means calculus is no stranger when IB Maths AA arrives, and Extended sciences cover most of what HL courses assume. Students who simply want a sturdy record can leave Additional Mathematics out and keep the workload manageable.

An independent candidate usually sits English, Mathematics, two or three sciences and one or two electives such as Economics, Business Studies or Computer Science. Karnataka students already learn Hindi or Kannada in school, so Hindi as a second language can be a steady scorer beside the heavier subjects.

Cambridge or Edexcel comes down to three practical questions: which exam dates fit, which past papers are easiest to get, and which board the tutor has taught recently. Universities treat both as equals. A tutor can set out the two specifications for your child's subjects and explain the differences.

09

How does a Tiptur family get matched with the right tutor?

  • A specific problem statement gives a sharper shortlist
  • Checks cover qualifications, recent teaching and assessment handling
  • The trial lesson shows explanation style and comfort
  • Changing tutor is a quick message, nothing more

Start with a message that names the programme or board, the subject and level, the present grade, the exam session and the evenings that suit the house. The line that helps most is a plain description of the problem, for example 'Paper 2 takes too long' or 'the exploration has no topic yet'. It tells us what sort of teacher to look for.

A shortlist follows, built from qualifications, recent teaching of the same syllabus and the way each person handles assessment criteria. With nobody in Tiptur teaching these courses, there is nothing local to rank against, so fit and record alone decide.

Then comes the trial lesson, a real topic taught live. Watch whether the explanation lands, whether the tutor asks questions that expose gaps, and whether your child speaks up. After it, a month's plan is sent for you to edit before anything begins.

Reviews happen every few weeks and each lesson ends with a short written note. If the chemistry between tutor and student is missing, another tutor is found without fuss.

Where we tutor

Tiptur localities and taluks our online tutors reach

Lessons are online, so these places show who we teach and what affects their timing, not where a tutor will go. Knowing whether a family is in town, near the market yard or out in a village helps set lesson times around school buses, power supply and auction days.

Tiptur town centre

The market and residential core, close to the main schools and the railway station, with most students home by late afternoon.

APMC market yard area

Busy on Wednesday and Saturday auction days, when traffic and family schedules shift, so lessons are better kept for later evenings.

Railway station side

The residential streets around Tiptur railway station, handy for families with a link to Bengaluru or Shivamogga by train.

Nonavinakere

A well-known village near Tiptur with a revered mutt and a large local following, where festival days pause normal routines.

Honnavalli

A coconut-growing hobli in Tiptur taluk, where students often travel to town schools and broadband quality varies.

Turuvekere

A neighbouring taluk town with its own schools, sharing Tiptur's lack of any IB or IGCSE option.

Chikkanayakanahalli

A taluk town on the Tumakuru side, where families often look toward Tumakuru city for senior classes.

Arsikere

A railway junction town across the border in Hassan district, roughly 30 km away, used by families on both sides.

Kibbanahalli

A village and small market centre on the Tiptur road, where farming and teaching families make up many households.

Villages across Tiptur taluk

Plantation households for whom a steady internet connection is the main thing to arrange before lessons start.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Tiptur

Tiptur and Tumakuru district

Schools in Tiptur follow the Karnataka state board or CBSE. We could not confirm an IB or IGCSE school in the town, so families study these qualifications through private online tuition or move to a school in another city.

    Nearby: Bengaluru

About 140 km away by road or rail, Bengaluru has the nearest large group of IB and Cambridge schools, with day and boarding options for families ready to move.

    • Canadian International School, Bengaluru
    • The International School Bangalore
    • Stonehill International School

    Nearby: Mysuru

Mysuru has a school with international programmes within a few hours of the Tumakuru-Hassan belt, and a residential school nearby in Mandya district.

    • I Can International School
    • De Paul International Residential School

The strip of schools is empty on purpose: no school in Tiptur was found offering the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, and naming one would mislead. The schools listed further down are real options in other cities, not partners of IB Gram. This service is independent of every school, college and mutt named on this page and of the IB, Cambridge University Press and Assessment and Pearson.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Tiptur: your questions answered

How do I find an IB tutor in Tiptur?+

Write to IB Gram with the programme, subject, level and exam session. A tutor who has taught that syllabus is shortlisted from across India, since nobody in Tiptur offers it, and your child tries a free online lesson before you commit to anything.

Are Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE tutors available for Tiptur students?+

Both are. The match is by board, code and tier, so a student on Cambridge 0580 Extended works with someone different from a student on Edexcel 4MA1 Higher, each drilling that board's own papers and examiner comments.

Does a tutor visit homes in Tiptur?+

No. Visits at home are run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A Tiptur child is taught one to one over video from their own desk, with a shared whiteboard, so the tuition is private and at home but delivered through a screen.

How much will IB or IGCSE tutoring cost us in Tiptur?+

It turns on level, subject, tutor experience and how long and how often lessons run, and you get the figure in writing before booking. Being in Tiptur neither adds nor removes anything. HL subjects usually cost more than IGCSE Core, and there is no advance commitment.

Which schools near Tiptur teach the IB or IGCSE?+

None that we could confirm in the taluk. The schools here use the Karnataka board or CBSE. The nearest options sit in Bengaluru and Mysuru, and most families try online tutoring before deciding whether a move or boarding is worth it.

We lived in Bengaluru on the IB and are back in Tiptur. Can lessons carry on?+

They can. Send the subject list, latest report and exam session, and a tutor continues at the same level from the point the school reached, so the student keeps pace with the syllabus without attending that school.

Do we pay for the first lesson?+

No. The first lesson is a full class on a real topic, taught by the tutor proposed for your child. Only afterwards do you decide, and the written plan for month one is sent after that class, not before.

Will the tutor help with my child's IA?+

Yes, as a guide. The tutor can explain what each criterion rewards, help narrow a research question, look over a method and comment on drafts. Writing or rewriting assessed material is not allowed under IB integrity rules, so that is always declined.

    Which Diploma subjects are covered?+

Nearly all the common ones: both Maths courses, the three sciences, Economics, Business, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, Geography and History, with TOK and Extended Essay guidance. Tutors for Kannada and Hindi B can also be found.

Can my younger child in MYP or PYP get help too?+

Yes. MYP tutoring works on criteria, scientific reasoning and the Personal Project, and PYP tutoring on reading, number sense and the research skills behind the Exhibition. Younger children usually have shorter, lighter sessions spread over the week.

Is a screen really as good as someone at the table?+

For these courses it holds up well, because the work is explanation, worked examples and marked papers, all shareable on screen. It also opens a choice of specialists that Tiptur could never supply. What you need in return is a reliable connection.

What checks are made on tutors?+

Qualifications, recent teaching of the same subject and level, and how they handle assessment criteria. In a town with no specialist pool the test is recent experience of that syllabus, and the free lesson lets you confirm it yourself.

When is the right time to start?+

At the opening of the course is ideal: Grade 9 for IGCSE, Class 11 for the Diploma. That gives months to repair foundations before mocks and predicted grades. Starting in the last year still helps if lessons target past papers and the topics carrying most marks.

Our child is in an SSLC or PUC school. Can IGCSE be added on?+

It can, and the main adjustment is how questions are worded and marked, not how much is learned. Command words need teaching and written reasoning needs practice. Starting one or two terms before the sitting keeps the load reasonable beside school.

What times do lessons usually happen?+

Weekday evenings after school and weekend mornings are the favourites. We steer clear of the busiest auction evenings, Ugadi, Dasara and Deepavali where we can, and of board exam weeks. A second weekly slot is simple to add before a sitting.

Power cuts and patchy internet are a worry. What then?+

Say so at the outset and the plan will allow for it: a wired line or strong mobile signal, a hotspot as a spare, shorter sessions in heavy monsoon weeks, and a recording of anything that drops. Plantation households have managed this well.

What happens if the tutor is not right for my child?+

Tell us and we will find another. Progress is reviewed every few weeks anyway, and no contract holds you in place, so a pause or an exit costs nothing.

Does IB Gram belong to any school or board?+

It does not. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service with no tie to any Tiptur school or college, the IB organisation, Cambridge University Press and Assessment or Pearson Edexcel. Institutions named on this page appear only to describe the local context.
