IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Tharangambadi (Tranquebar)

Anyone in Tharangambadi hunting for home tuition in an IB or IGCSE subject should know what it means here: a live lesson on your own laptop with a tutor who has recently taught that paper, because IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Tharangambadi (visits are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR). The old Danish port of Tranquebar has heritage churches, a fort museum and Tamil Nadu board schools, but no IB or Cambridge classroom we can confirm.

  • Tutors are picked for the exact paper, level and board your child sits, never for a general IB or IGCSE label
  • All teaching is by live video; tutors turning up at the door is a Gurugram and Delhi NCR service only
  • A whole trial class comes first, free of charge
  • IB Gram has no link to any school, exam board or university named on this page

IB & IGCSE in Tharangambadi

What studying IB or IGCSE looks like from the Tranquebar coast

The Danes founded Tranquebar in November 1620 as their first trading post in India, and a visitor today can walk through a fort built that year, past the oldest Protestant church in the country and a Shiva temple that dates from 1306. Tharangambadi, the Tamil name meaning land of the singing waves, is a town of about twenty-three thousand people on the Coromandel coast, fifteen kilometres north of Karaikal.

Education here has always been unusual. The German missionary Bartholomäus Ziegenbalg set up a printing press and school in the early eighteenth century, and Tamil literacy in this corner of the delta still stands high. Yet the current school map is conventional: Tamil Nadu state board and Matriculation schools, some CBSE. We could not confirm any school in Tharangambadi or its taluk that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE.

The families who contact us tend to be of three kinds. Some are Tamil households with a parent in Singapore, the Gulf or a metro and a child whose international schooling must continue at the family home. Some belong to the coastal fishing, hospitality and heritage-tourism economy and want a qualification that travels. And some are returnees who find the local boards a poor match for what the child has already studied.

In each case the tutor becomes more than an assistant. Where no school teaches the course, the tutor sets the order of topics, chooses the practice and marks it candidly. IB Gram has no connection with the schools or exam bodies named on this page, and tutors never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays or other work that carries a student's name.

  • No tutor visits in Tharangambadi; visits happen only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Tharangambadi school years

As far as we can confirm, none of the four IB programmes is taught in Tharangambadi. A family therefore meets them through a side route: a relative abroad, a boarding school in Chennai or Tiruchirappalli, or a decision to start IGCSE at Grade 9. The notes below describe how each stage appears to a household on the Tranquebar coast.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Children explore themes such as sharing the planet or how the world works through units of inquiry, and in the last year they plan and present an Exhibition on a topic they choose. Since no outside examiner marks it, help is quiet and practical: confident reading aloud, friendly arithmetic and learning how to frame a question worth chasing.

In Tharangambadi, PYP enquiries mostly come from returning families whose young child has already met inquiry-style learning abroad.

MYPAges 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Four published criteria judge each MYP subject, and the programme ends with a Personal Project in Year 5. Plenty of pupils understand the topic and still lose marks, since they answer a neighbouring question to the one the criterion asks.

With no MYP school in town, pupils usually take it through a school elsewhere or use it as an early stage towards IGCSE.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

The Diploma asks for six subjects, half of them at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and a creativity, activity and service strand. Most subject grades blend internal assessments with May examinations.

A Diploma student from Tharangambadi usually boards in Chennai or Tiruchirappalli, so lessons follow that school's calendar and not the delta's.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses are joined to a career-related study, a project and a skills strand. Very few Indian schools run it, although the Diploma subjects inside it get full depth.

CP is almost never asked about from the town; when it is, tutoring concentrates on the Diploma courses within the pathway.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Students from Tamil Nadu's state board are famously well drilled and often strong at mathematics and science. The adjustment lies in the question itself: IB and IGCSE papers love verbs like compare, justify and evaluate, and a perfectly remembered paragraph does not answer them. Lessons are therefore written against a named subject, level and paper, and open with how questions are phrased.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Proof, functions and calculus fill the syllabus, and at HL the third paper offers questions no worksheet has prepared a student for. We practise staying calm and writing a first line.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Real-world data, probability distributions and modelling, with a graphic calculator doing the heavy lifting. A good exploration starts with figures gathered early.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics from Class 12 transfers well. The new demands are error analysis, interpreting graphs and designing an experiment, which together shape the Investigation grade.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Delta students usually calculate moles with ease. Marks disappear in reaction mechanisms and in explanations that stop one sentence short of the reason.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Words like ATP or meiosis are no obstacle. Matching an answer's shape to its command term, and backing an investigation with sensible statistics, are.

IB Economics

HL / SL

A tidy, labelled diagram linked to something that happened this year outscores a page of theory, and HL adds a policy paper built on data.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Credit goes to answers that engage with the firm in the case study. The internal project needs a cooperative organisation, such as a coastal guesthouse or a seafood trader.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Tamil-medium readers often notice subtle things in a text yet need rehearsal in writing a timed commentary in English.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Pen-and-paper algorithms and the software written for the internal assessment demand different drills.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies have to be recalled by name and then deployed as evidence in an argument that lasts the full essay.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

The 2004 tsunami, cyclone surges and shoreline erosion along this coast supply vivid case material for judging how systems cope.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Specific places, dates and measurements lift answers above vague statements, and fieldwork needs a method somebody else could repeat.

IB History

HL / SL

Danish and British trade on this very coast offers rich material, though source evaluation in Paper 1 and sustained argument in Paper 2 are separate skills.

IB Tamil A / Hindi B

HL / SL

A Tamil first language is a real asset in the literature course; Hindi B is mostly unseen reading and spoken ease.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

This subject lives in conversation. Arguing a prescribed title from the side you did not pick prepares you for the essay and the exhibition.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each IGCSE subject is tiered, Core or Extended at Cambridge and Foundation or Higher at Edexcel, and the tier caps the grade a child can earn. We confirm the board, the paper code and the sitting first: Cambridge in May to June or October to November, Edexcel in January or summer.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Skipped working is costly on Extended papers; tidy presentation still earns method marks when an arithmetic slip occurs.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus, vectors and trigonometric identities arrive a year early, which cushions the later step into IB Analysis and Approaches.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Much of the content mirrors Cambridge, but question wording differs, so genuine Edexcel past papers are used.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Rearranging formulae quickly and coping with the alternative-to-practical paper each need regular, separate drills.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations, reaction rates and organic families run alongside the practical-skills paper all year, not as a final rush.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Genetics and the body's systems keep returning in extended answers, where the construction of a response matters nearly as much as memory.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Getting diagrams right is the early gain; the grade gap opens in the longer evaluation questions.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Trace tables become natural only after real Python has been typed and run, so every topic includes coding.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Timed practice with unseen passages builds summary and directed writing better than memorised phrases.

IGCSE Tamil and Hindi as a second language

Grade 9-10

One-to-one reading and conversation, every week, is what the language papers reward.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Tharangambadi school timetables

Each of the three formats is a private, live class in Indian Standard Time, taught by someone chosen for the paper code; only the pace changes. Nobody visits Tharangambadi in person, as home tuition of that kind exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Weekly live class over video

A single hour at the same time each week, a shared digital board, your child's notes and a stack of past papers. It is the usual format and the surest foundation for a school year.

  • Tutors from anywhere in India, matched by course
  • Fits DP, MYP and both IGCSE boards
  • Working shown live on screen
  • The same tutor through the term

Light weekly plan with written reviews

A shorter weekly class followed by a written summary and a thorough review monthly. Younger pupils, and parents who want clear reports without a busy timetable, often prefer this.

  • A short note after every class
  • Goals reviewed regularly
  • Well suited to PYP and early MYP
  • Extra classes before tests

Concentrated block before mocks and boards

Several classes a week for a few weeks ahead of mocks or written papers, built around timed questions and fast marking.

  • Papers marked to current schemes
  • Feedback within two days
  • Best started a month before
  • Planned around Pongal and monsoon alerts

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Tharangambadi

01

Does Tharangambadi have an IB or IGCSE school, and who needs a tutor?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Tharangambadi
  • Returning families and overseas links drive most demand
  • Chennai and Tiruchirappalli are the nearest real options
  • Matching follows the syllabus, not the pin code

Tharangambadi's schools teach the Tamil Nadu state board, Matriculation or CBSE, and as far as we can confirm none has an IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE stream. The directories we checked show no IB World School or Cambridge centre in the taluk. Naming any school as local without proof would mislead a family, so we do not.

Demand exists regardless. Tamil Nadu's delta has long sent workers and professionals to Singapore, Malaysia, the Gulf and the metros, and their children's schooling often followed an international route. When a family settles back at the Tranquebar home, the child's course must continue somehow, and a tutor is the practical answer.

A second group is ambitious but local. Hospitality, heritage tourism and coastal trade have grown around the Danish monuments, and some of those families want an overseas-recognised qualification without sending a thirteen-year-old to a distant hostel.

Because no school anchors a local pool, tutors are chosen on syllabus alone. A student needing IB Physics HL cannot call a neighbourhood specialist, but an online tutor in Bengaluru or Pune who taught it last year can start within the week.

02

How does Tamil Nadu board preparation differ from IB and IGCSE?

  • Selecting a method matters more than reciting one
  • Coursework unfolds over months
  • Map the new content before revising the old
  • Practise exam English as a skill of its own

State board papers in Tamil Nadu favour thorough, well-organised answers drawn from a set textbook, and delta teachers drill students expertly for them. IB and IGCSE examiners instead tend to offer an unfamiliar scenario and ask which method fits and why. The shift is from repeating an answer to selecting one.

The systems differ in what happens before exam day. A board practical record merely lists experiments performed, while an IB Internal Assessment or IGCSE coursework task is a self-directed investigation judged on published descriptors, worth up to a third of the grade. Planning and redrafting something that long is a skill you can teach.

The level decides the depth. IB Higher Level mathematics and sciences extend beyond Class 12 in places, IGCSE Extended is a step above Class 10 and Core is gentler. Switching in Grade 9 or Class 11 is easiest with a list of what is genuinely new rather than a sweep through everything.

Language gets time of its own. A fluent Tamil speaker may understand an idea completely and still write it slowly in exam English, so classes include sentence frames, vocabulary and timed writing.

03

What goes into the price of an IB or IGCSE tutor for Tharangambadi?

  • Level, subject, class length and tutor experience set the rate
  • No travel cost for Tharangambadi students
  • A written figure before the trial
  • Pause or change tutor whenever needed

Price follows four factors: the programme and its level, the subject, the length and weekly frequency of classes, and how lately the tutor taught this course. HL Diploma science sits higher than Grade 7 maths. You get the number in writing, ahead of the trial.

Distance costs nothing. Classes are online, so a tutor in Bengaluru and one in Chennai charge a Tharangambadi family alike, and nobody pays for bus tickets to Mayiladuthurai or a taxi to Karaikal.

What matters is the content of the hour. Someone who has seen how Cambridge words a practical question, or how an IB moderator reads an exploration, can save a student a term of guesswork. Do ask each tutor what a class will cover and how you will learn of progress.

There is no long contract. Classes can pause for Pongal, a cyclone warning or a family wedding, and the tutor can be replaced if the fit is poor.

04

Tuition centre, local tutor, self-study or online: what works in Tharangambadi?

  • Local coaching targets the state board, NEET and JEE
  • Tutors with current IB or IGCSE experience are rare
  • Self-study lacks feedback on writing
  • Online specialists close both gaps

Tuition in the delta towns serves the state board and routes such as NEET and JEE, with centres in Karaikal and Mayiladuthurai. No class exists for IGCSE Chemistry or IB Economics, leaving a child on those courses in someone else's syllabus.

Teachers in town are dependable for regular school subjects, but almost none has taught a live IB or IGCSE specification and the small pupil numbers make specialising pointless. Encouragement is available locally; the examiner's mark scheme is not.

A determined child can teach themselves a subject with plenty of published material, and IGCSE Mathematics papers abound. Problems arise whenever a second reader matters, as with a lab plan, essay outline or six-mark explanation; unflagged errors become habits.

Online one-to-one tuition delivers specialist knowledge and individual attention on a fixed rhythm, minus the bus to Karaikal. The family needs a laptop, headphones and an hour of steady connection.

05

How do Pongal, the northeast monsoon and cyclone season shape a study plan?

  • Plan for monsoon and cyclone disruption in November
  • Treat Pongal and Deepavali as planned breaks
  • Diploma papers fall in May; retakes in November
  • Board exam weeks can squeeze mock revision

The Coromandel coast has a calendar of its own. The northeast monsoon from October to December brings heavy rain and the risk of cyclones, power cuts and flooded lanes, exactly when Cambridge's November series and Diploma mocks are close. A hotspot, a charged laptop and a flexible second slot are sensible precautions.

Festivals count as much as weather. Deepavali arrives in autumn, Pongal and Thai Poosam in January, and Tamil New Year in April. Families travel and schools close for different lengths of time, so a good plan marks each one, with light revision before and a catch-up class after.

For Diploma students the big sitting is May, results come in July and retakes run in November. Cambridge offers IGCSE twice yearly, around May to June and October to November, and Edexcel adds January to its summer window. Board papers in March and April can crowd mocks, so anyone doing both needs a calendar mapped early.

A boarder in Chennai or Tiruchirappalli works to the school's dates. A private IGCSE candidate at home fares best with one class a week in Grade 9, more sessions in autumn of Grade 10 and a firm two-month block before the papers.

06

Where can IB or IGCSE lead after school in Tharangambadi?

  • Chennai, Tiruchirappalli and Puducherry offer technical and medical options
  • AIU equivalence is often needed for Indian universities
  • Check JEE, NEET and CUET rules directly
  • Predicted grades drive overseas offers

Most Tamil Nadu students begin with Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur and Coimbatore, home to Anna University, NIT Tiruchirappalli, SASTRA and many private universities, with JIPMER and Pondicherry University close by. Rules for IB and IGCSE applicants differ at each institution, so ask the one you want.

Indian universities often require an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate for an overseas-board qualification. CUET-UG admits students from several boards but looks at subject combinations, and JEE and NEET publish their own eligibility rules. These change from year to year, so verify before fixing subjects.

Abroad, admissions staff in Britain, Canada, Australia, Singapore and America treat IB points and IGCSE results as evidence of readiness. British offers tend to state a points total with Higher Level minimums, resting on the grades a school predicts in the final year, so Class 11 matters more than parents expect.

Students far from a metro often have the planning talk too late. Abandoning Higher Level Mathematics at fourteen can shut an engineering route at seventeen. We offer academic support only; for applications, ask the institution itself.

07

What do Maths AA and AI and the sciences ask of a Tharangambadi student?

  • AA suits calculus, proof and engineering routes
  • AI suits data, statistics and modelling
  • Experimental design is the usual physics gap
  • Bring marked work to the trial

IB Maths comes in two flavours. Analysis and Approaches is algebra, functions, calculus and proof, a fit for would-be engineers and physicists; at Higher Level its third paper deliberately presents problems with no template. Applications and Interpretation is statistics, modelling and graphic-calculator work, better for future economists, biologists and business students.

Class 12 physicists handle formulae fluently yet are seldom asked about uncertainty, graph analysis or experimental design, which is where the Investigation earns its marks. A tutor familiar with the mark scheme can steer the plan before the draft wanders.

Chemistry students usually race through moles and equilibrium, then slow down at reaction mechanisms and energy cycles, where the syllabus is new. Biology candidates know their terms; what they lack is the knack of shaping an answer to the command word.

Since nothing here teaches these papers, the online tutor acts as main teacher, not helper. Ahead of the trial we ask for the textbook, any notes and a single recent marked piece so that class one begins with evidence.

08

Core or Extended: which IGCSE tier fits a Tharangambadi student?

  • Core caps the grade; Extended opens it
  • Try a few Extended questions first
  • Add Additional Mathematics for engineering
  • A diagnostic class often settles it

A Core entry cannot score as high as an Extended one. That seems minor at fourteen but follows the student upwards, because Diploma teachers expect Extended-level foundations before they begin Higher Level Mathematics and sciences.

Try this at the kitchen table: choose four or five Extended questions from an old paper and let your child attempt them while you simply watch. Picking the right approach but tripping on a sign points to Extended. Sitting with no idea how to start suggests Core could be the wiser choice for that subject.

Then comes the question of which subjects to combine. A usual package pairs English and Mathematics with two sciences and a language or humanities option, adding Additional Mathematics for anyone bound for engineering. Where a child lacks a school timetable to anchor the week, too long a list becomes a burden.

Because no one in the town has taught in a Cambridge school, the sensible shortcut is a single diagnostic class with a tutor familiar with both tiers. A child thinking out loud reveals the right tier faster than any past score.

09

How does IB Gram choose a tutor for a Tharangambadi family?

  • A conversation covering board, subject, level and worries
  • Shortlist by syllabus experience
  • Trial class before any commitment
  • Tutor change if the fit is poor

Our first step is a conversation. We want to hear the board, the subject and level, the current marks, the date of the next paper and whatever is nagging at you most, whether that is one topic, an IA, the mocks or a pending switch of board.

After that we check qualifications, recent teaching of the exact course and how the tutor responds to coursework drafts. No Tharangambadi school anchors the choice, so shortlists follow syllabus fit and who is free in IST.

Think of the trial class as an audition for the tutor. Watch the screen for ten minutes and you will know: is the explanation clear, does your child answer back, do mistakes get treated as information? Liking what you see leads to a one-page plan for the first month. Not liking it ends the matter.

When child and tutor do not click, we arrange a different tutor without penalty or long explanations.

Where we tutor

Tharangambadi and the places around it that our online lessons reach

Because a class needs just a laptop and a steady line, this list serves as background and not a service map. It shows where families live, which heritage and institutions are near and which towns they look to; several names belong to neighbouring places.

Fort Dansborg and the Tranquebar seafront

The 1620 fort now houses a museum on the shore, and families nearby live with the sound of the waves and a steady stream of visitors.

King Street and the old Danish quarter

The heritage lanes of the former colony, with restored houses, a Danish gate and some of the town's oldest families.

Zion Church and the mission area

The Protestant mission buildings associated with Ziegenbalg, where the tradition of schooling and printing began.

Masilamaninathar temple surroundings

The 1306 Shiva temple at the heart of the older residential streets, shaping the festival calendar for the neighbourhood.

Fishing hamlets along the beach

Coastal communities rebuilt after the 2004 tsunami, where children study hard and parents increasingly ask about options beyond the local boards.

Poompuhar

The ancient Chola port a short way north along the coast, whose families share colleges and relatives with Tharangambadi.

Karaikal

The Puducherry enclave fifteen kilometres south, with its own colleges, hospitals and a larger tuition market.

Mayiladuthurai

The district headquarters inland, the usual reference point for government offices, colleges and the railway.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Tharangambadi

Tharangambadi and the delta coast

Schools here follow the Tamil Nadu board, Matriculation or CBSE. Since no IB or IGCSE teaching was confirmed, the specialist syllabus comes through online lessons.

    Nearby: Tiruchirappalli

Roughly 150 kilometres inland, Tiruchirappalli has a small number of Cambridge-linked schools and the nearest airport of any size. Choice is limited, so confirm current offerings directly.

    • Alpha Cambridge International School
    • The Indian Public School, Trichy

    Nearby: Chennai

Some 280 kilometres north, Chennai offers the nearest wide choice of IB and Cambridge schools, usually with boarding or relocation for senior years.

    • Gateway International School
    • KC High International School
    • Akshar Arbol International School

No school in Tharangambadi or its taluk could be confirmed for the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, which is why none is called local. Schools in Tiruchirappalli and Chennai appear only to show where some families look. IB Gram operates on its own, with no contract, referral fee or endorsement tied to any school, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson.

“Physics HL felt scary before mocks. The tutor mapped my weak topics and gave a realistic command-term plan. Mocks went up by two grade boundaries.”

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Tharangambadi: your questions answered

How do I find an IB tutor in Tharangambadi?+

Start by noting the subject, the level and the sitting you are aiming at, then message us. Tutors who taught that course recently are shortlisted and a free trial class is arranged. With no confirmed IB school in Tharangambadi, the search spans India and lessons run on video.

Is IGCSE help available for both Cambridge and Edexcel in Tranquebar?+

Both boards are available, always online. We settle the board, paper code and tier before suggesting anyone, for example Cambridge 0580 Extended or Edexcel 4MA1 Higher, so your child practises on the correct papers for the sitting they are actually entered for.

Will a tutor call at our house in Tharangambadi?+

Houses in Tharangambadi do not get tutor visits, because that service is confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Home tuition here means a one-to-one live class on your child's laptop, with both people writing on the same shared board.

    What will it cost?+

We print no tariff. Level, subject, class length and the tutor's recent time on this course shape the number, which is sent in writing before any trial. Carrying on afterwards involves no lengthy commitment.

Which schools in Tharangambadi teach IB or IGCSE?+

We could confirm none. Classrooms in the taluk work to the Tamil Nadu board, Matriculation or CBSE, so families seeking an IB or Cambridge school look to Tiruchirappalli or Chennai and use tutoring for preparation, for bridging distance or for a boarder home on holiday.

Is the first class really free?+

Yes, fully. A tutor picks a real topic from the syllabus and teaches it, and the decision is yours after. Agreeing brings a short plan for the first month; declining brings no further contact.

How far can a tutor go with an IB Internal Assessment?+

A tutor is glad to translate a marking criterion into plain words, help your child pick a research question small enough to test, look over a method and respond to a draft the student wrote alone. Drafting or polishing the assessed text itself is excluded, as the IB treats it as misconduct.

Which Diploma subjects do your tutors teach?+

On the Diploma side, tutors teach both Maths courses at either level, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, Geography, History, Tamil and Hindi, and also coach Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. For an unusual subject the pool is smaller, but we do look.

Can younger children on MYP or PYP join?+

Of course. Teenagers on MYP mostly need practice answering to the published criteria and choosing a Personal Project they can finish. Younger PYP pupils have brief, frequent classes around reading aloud, number patterns and asking good questions.

Is a laptop class as good as a tutor in the room?+

In a town like this the screen is frequently the better classroom: the finest specialist for a paper may live in another state, and a local tutor would need a long trip to reach you. Working live on a shared board and keeping a recording of each class reproduces most of what sitting next to a tutor offers, so long as the connection behaves.

    How do you vet tutors?+

Certificates are checked first. The more telling questions follow: when did the tutor last teach this specific paper, and how would they handle a coursework draft that falls short? Recent classroom time with today's specification outweighs a longer but older career, and your own eyes in the trial do the final vetting.

When is the right time to start?+

Start when the course starts if you can, which means Grade 9 for IGCSE or Class 11 for the Diploma. Arriving late still pays, particularly when classes go straight to the topics that earn most marks; even the last two months before an exam can transform technique.

My child studies in a Tamil-medium school. Is the move to IGCSE or IB realistic?+

Quite a few children cross over successfully, and the sums are rarely what slows them. Their stumbling points are reading an English exam question closely, working out what verbs like justify and assess demand, and keeping a long coursework project alive across several months. Use the summer before Grade 9 or Class 11 for a short bridging course and the first term feels far less abrupt.

Which class times suit Tharangambadi families?+

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings suit most students. Pongal, Deepavali and Tamil New Year stay free, board exam dates are respected where relevant, and a class moves if a cyclone alert or heavy rain threatens the connection.

What if the tutor and my child do not click?+

Should it not work out, tell us and another tutor is found. Reviews are designed to expose a poor match early, nothing locks you in, and ending lessons altogether costs you nothing.

Is IB Gram linked to a school or an exam body?+

Not at all. IB Gram works alone, without any arrangement involving a school in Tharangambadi, Tiruchirappalli or Chennai or any of the IB, Cambridge and Pearson. When a school appears here, it is merely to say what it teaches, and tutors follow whatever syllabus your child's own school or exam centre has set.
