IB and IGCSE Tutors and Private Tuition from Home in Tharad

A Tharad family asking for home tuition in the IB or IGCSE gets an honest answer first: tutors do not visit homes here, because in-person visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What the town gets is a private tutor on video, teaching one student at a time at home, with someone who has taught the exact course. North Gujarat's border market town, close to Rajasthan, can reach a specialist that no local institute can supply.

  • Private lessons from home on video, taught by a tutor who knows your exact IB or IGCSE course
  • Tutors do not call at homes in Tharad; house visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free trial class and a written summary after every session
  • Not connected to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school named here

IB & IGCSE in Tharad

Tharad families and the case for an international curriculum

Tharad is the administrative centre of the newly formed Vav-Tharad district, the former Banaskantha border country on National Highway 68, around 45 kilometres from the international boundary and 40 from Rajasthan. Its economy is the Central Agriculture Market Yard, dairy cooperatives, cold storage and a jewellery market, and its schools are Gujarat board, CBSE and the three well-known high schools the town is proud of.

Nothing in the town offers the IB or an IGCSE that we can verify. That does not make the question unreal. Tharad is a trading town, and trading families travel, send sons and daughters to Ahmedabad, Mumbai or abroad, and think in terms of qualifications that cross borders. The Adani family's roots here are a well-known reminder that Tharad's business community has always looked outwards.

An IB or IGCSE student in the family needs a teacher who has taught the syllabus. We find one and teach online, so a Tharad student studies with a specialist in Pune or Chennai at the same cost as a student next door to them. Tutors do not visit homes in Tharad; house visits are a Gurugram and Delhi NCR service.

A tutor explains, sets exercises and marks them. Drafting a student's Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or any other graded coursework lies outside the role, and IB Gram answers to no exam board or school.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Tharad school years

A Tharad student seldom meets the IB at a school round the corner, so we start by asking where the child is enrolled and which stage they are at. Each stage asks something different from a tutor.

PYPClass Nursery to 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Six shared themes are explored through questions, and the final year ends with a pupil-led Exhibition. No external exam sits at this stage, so tutoring builds reading rhythm, sound arithmetic and the habit of explaining aloud.

Interest in PYP from Tharad generally comes from business families who expect to send a child to a school in Ahmedabad or beyond.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Subjects are marked on criteria, global contexts link learning to the wider world, and a Personal Project crowns the programme. Many students know the content but have never written it as a criterion requires.

A student from a Gujarati-medium class has two jobs at once: absorb MYP's style and build English academic vocabulary.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Learners take six subjects split between Higher and Standard Level, alongside TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS. A final grade combines sitting papers in May or November with coursework completed through the two years.

A Tharad DP student is nearly always enrolled somewhere else, and wants weekly Maths, science or business tutoring that tracks the school's pace.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma subjects are paired with a vocational strand and a reflective project. Few Indian schools run it; the academic components still call for sharp, exam-aware teaching.

We rarely hear CP queries from this area; if one arrives, tutoring is for the Diploma-level courses only.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A Gujarat board classroom prizes the full, neat, memorised answer. IB markers reward an answer that follows the command term, whether that is explain, compare or evaluate. Matching is by code and level, since two courses sharing a title can need very different preparation.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, vectors and functions argued with justification. Gujarat board students bring strong arithmetic; the new skill is writing every step.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, probability and modelling with technology. Market-yard prices or dairy yields could underpin a good Exploration.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves and fields. Many marks are lost on uncertainty and unit handling, not on concepts.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Bonding through to organic synthesis. Equilibrium and energetics repay steady practice.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A big syllabus with exact wording rewarded; ecology and genetics questions can use desert and farm examples.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams, real cases and evaluation. Trade through a border market, cooperative dairy and cash-crop pricing give honest local material.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-based analysis; students from trading families often find the language of the course familiar from home.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Textual analysis, a comparative essay and an oral. Gujarati speakers need steady practice in formal written English.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and systems, assessed by written papers and a project.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies recalled and evaluated, with long-answer timing practice.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL

Water, soils and land use, with arid-zone examples: groundwater, canal supply and desertification.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Resources, population and hazards, with data-based questions and extended writing.

IB History

HL / SL

Source questions and essay arguments are two skills, each given its own practice.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Comprehension, text types and the oral; Gujarati speakers usually find it a comfortable language subject.

IB Gujarati A Literature

HL / SL

Where the school offers it, a natural scoring subject for Gujarati speakers; tutor availability should be confirmed early.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Framing a prescribed title and testing the argument; the tutor questions, the student writes.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson both award an IGCSE but with different codes, tiers and calendars. Before lesson one we confirm which one a Tharad student faces, so the practice papers are the right ones.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended candidates drop marks through thin working. Sessions drill algebra, trigonometry and non-calculator habits.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Introduces calculus and vectors early, and eases the step to IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Edexcel phrases and orders questions differently from Cambridge, so we work on its own papers.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Working with formulae, reading graphs and facing the alternative-to-practical question.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Moles, reactivity, electrolysis and organic basics.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, genetics, ecology and long-answer structure.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets, government and trade, with data-response practice.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Business activity, finance and marketing applied to named firms; a good fit for students from trading families.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Descriptive and argumentative writing, summary and directed writing.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing and speaking tasks, with spoken practice on video.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Tharad school timetables

Every Tharad student learns in one format: a private tutor on live video. What varies is the rhythm and the exam focus.

Weekly one-to-one class online

A set hour on a calm evening, after the shop or market day winds down, using a shared whiteboard and the student's attempted papers.

  • A single tutor across the year
  • Papers and mark schemes on screen
  • All IB programmes and IGCSE tiers
  • A written note after each class

Holiday bridge for a boarding student

Concentrated sessions in the long break for a child who studies in another city and comes home to Tharad, closing gaps and previewing the next term.

  • A gap check in the first lesson
  • Two to four sessions a week in holidays
  • A preview of next-term units
  • Pauses for Diwali and weddings

Exam-season revision block

A stretch of frequent sessions before mocks and the main papers, with timed questions and fast marking, set away from Navratri and peak harvest.

  • Marked to official criteria
  • Gap list after each paper
  • Booked two to three weeks ahead
  • Festival-aware dates

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Tharad

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Tharad or Vav-Tharad district?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Tharad
  • Ahmedabad is the realistic in-state destination
  • A child can stay in Tharad and study through an online school
  • Check any school's standing on the IB or Cambridge websites

We cannot confirm one. The schooling in Tharad is the Gujarat board and CBSE, built around government primary schools, three long-established high schools and arts, commerce and science colleges run by a local trust. For IB or IGCSE, a family has to look past the district.

Palanpur, the old Banaskantha headquarters, has bigger schools and coaching institutes, but we cannot verify an international one. Ahmedabad is the realistic destination: Ahmedabad International School, among others, is listed as an IB school in directories, and it is the sort of place a family would ask about for a child entering Class 6 or 11.

Distance is the practical problem. Tharad to Ahmedabad is a long road journey, so boarding or relocation is the usual arrangement. Some families choose an online international school instead, keeping the child at home with a reliable connection and a supervised study corner.

Whichever choice is made, we advise checking the school's authorisation on the IB or Cambridge website before paying fees, and then letting tutoring follow the school's scheme of work.

What is different about Gujarat board, CBSE and the IB or IGCSE?

  • Recall versus application
  • English academic vocabulary needs a head start
  • Long assessed work needs planning skills
  • Numeracy and business sense are real strengths

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and CBSE test whether a student has learnt the syllabus completely. IB and IGCSE test whether a student can use it on something new. A Class 10 Science answer that earns full marks for listing the stages of a process might earn little when the question supplies an unfamiliar experiment and asks what the data suggest.

Language shapes the change. A student who studied in Gujarati to Class 10 knows the content in Gujarati terms; IB and IGCSE need the same ideas expressed in English with precise vocabulary. This is a real task, not a quick one, and the best time to start is a year before the course begins.

Long assessed work is the other contrast. IB students write an Extended Essay and internal assessments across months; some IGCSE subjects use coursework or practical papers. A student whose experience is of one annual board exam needs to be taught how to plan and draft, which no coaching batch does.

The advantage runs both ways. Gujarat students tend to be careful with numbers, and families from trading backgrounds often have a head start in Economics and Business reasoning.

What does an IB or IGCSE tutor cost for a family in Tharad?

  • Level, tutor scarcity, lesson length and frequency set the rate
  • No travel cost for Tharad families
  • Written quote after the free trial
  • Pause or stop whenever necessary

What you are quoted depends on course level, how many good tutors exist for it, how long a session runs, and how many fall in a week. Diploma HL Physics or Maths will sit above IGCSE Core Biology, as fewer people have taught it recently.

Distance adds nothing. A tutor in Pune charges a Tharad household what they would charge one in Pune, and no one pays for fuel on the highway or for lost time on it.

Any list price would mislead, because the figure depends on which course is being taught. When the trial class is over, the tutor, timetable and rate reach you in writing, and declining carries no charge.

As in any business, the question is return on the hour. A paper marked in advance, with a session spent on the three topics that cost the most marks, outperforms a long lecture on what is already understood.

04

Online tuition, Palanpur coaching, local tutors or self-study: what fits IB and IGCSE?

  • Coaching targets board, NEET, JEE and GUJCET
  • Local tutors suit board subjects
  • Self-study lacks feedback
  • Online specialists provide both

Coaching in Tharad and Palanpur is built around Class 10 and 12 board results, NEET and JEE, and for some students the GUJCET. These institutes are efficient at their purpose, but none runs an IB Chemistry HL batch.

Local tutors do well on board subjects and with younger children. On an IB or IGCSE syllabus they would be learning the course alongside the student, which is not a good use of an exam year.

Self-study can work for a disciplined student with past papers, especially in IGCSE Mathematics. What it lacks is a reader: nobody to say that an essay answers the wrong command word, or an investigation has no controlled variable.

Live online lessons give both syllabus knowledge and personal attention. The condition is a steady connection, which is worth testing at the planned lesson time, especially in villages beyond the town.

How do Navratri, Uttarayan and the desert climate shape the study year in Tharad?

  • Uttarayan falls in mock season
  • Heat limits afternoon sessions in summer
  • Navratri evenings are best left free
  • Confirm exam dates with the school

Navratri is the big event of the Gujarati year, with nine nights of garba that pull entire families out in the evening, usually in the Cambridge October-November window and just before Diwali. Uttarayan on 14 January fills rooftops with kites and falls in the heart of mock-exam season. Neither is a week to schedule lessons.

The climate is arid. Tharad sits on the edge of the Thar, with summer temperatures that often pass 45 degrees in May and June, cold winter nights and little rain beyond the monsoon between July and September. Heat decides the time of day: very early morning or evening are the productive hours in summer.

The trading and farming calendar matters too. Harvest and sowing seasons, wedding season in the cooler months and the Ambaji fair pilgrimage in autumn all take a household's attention for days at a time. Fixing short regular slots is easier on everyone than forcing long ones.

Papers themselves arrive in two main windows a year for IB and Cambridge, with Edexcel adding January; the weeks of February and March tend to be the quietest for sitting full mocks.

Where can a Tharad student go with an IB or IGCSE background?

  • AIU equivalence supports Indian admissions
  • JEE, NEET and CUET have separate rules
  • Gujarat state-quota rules depend on where a candidate studied
  • Check the official notification first

The Association of Indian Universities recognises the IB Diploma as equivalent to Class 12, so Indian universities are open: Gujarat University, MS University of Baroda, IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad for later study, and national institutions further afield. Central universities admit through CUET-UG, so subject combinations deserve attention in Class 11.

Engineering and medicine follow their own national tests. JEE and NEET-UG notices set out who may apply from international boards and with which subjects. Gujarat's own quota rules depend on where a candidate studied, and should be checked with the authority.

Plenty of Gujarati trading families have relatives overseas, so study abroad is a familiar thought. A Diploma, or IGCSE followed by A Levels, points towards the UK, Canada, Australia, the US and the Gulf, where predicted grades, an English test and application essays shape the offer.

Whatever the destination, pick Higher Level subjects with the intended degree in mind. Tutors can talk the options through, but the admitting body's own notice settles it.

07

How does an online tutor handle IB Maths and the sciences for a Tharad student?

  • Shared whiteboard with live correction
  • Practice papers chosen by syllabus code and level
  • Exact vocabulary for Biology and Chemistry
  • IA support is coaching only

Both people write on one shared board. A Maths session runs by the tutor setting a question and the student committing the first lines; the tutor halts at the first shaky step, so skipped reasoning, untidy notation and answers lifted straight from a calculator are corrected live.

In the sciences, a lesson might open with a stubborn idea, say a redox cell, trace it back to electron transfer, and then test it on a past-paper item. Units, graph reading and booklet look-ups are rehearsed until nobody has to think about them.

Biology is language-heavy, so the tutor trains exact vocabulary and answer structure. A short, precise sentence usually outscores a long, loose one.

Internal Assessments are coached, not written. The tutor helps choose a workable question, explains the criteria and comments on drafts; the experiment, the data and the writing stay with the student.

08

Which IGCSE tier and subjects suit a student from Tharad?

  • Five to nine subjects is typical
  • Upper tiers open the top grades
  • Economics and Business Studies suit trading families
  • Choose the English paper according to writing confidence

Five to nine IGCSE subjects is typical, with English, Mathematics and the sciences as the core. Cambridge sets Core and Extended; Edexcel sets Foundation and Higher. The tier limits the top grade, so mock results should decide it.

A student planning IB Maths or a Higher Level science should aim for the upper tier, with Additional Mathematics if possible. A student heading for A Levels in science should take the sciences separately if the school allows it.

Students from business families should consider Economics and Business Studies, which build on what they already see at home. Hindi suits students who speak it, and English First Language or Second Language is chosen by writing confidence.

We confirm board, code, tier and series first so that practice papers match.

Where we tutor

Around Tharad: where our online students log in from

Where the laptop sits does not change the teaching. The list below covers the towns around Tharad that our students log in from, with a note on what each means for the school week.

Tharad town

The administrative centre of Vav-Tharad district, with the market yard, the high schools and the three colleges.

Central Agriculture Market Yard

The trading hub where crop and produce deals shape the evening rhythm of many households.

Jewellery bazaar

A well-known market area where family businesses are passed from one generation to the next.

Nandevi Ashapura Mataji Temple area

A hilltop-style shrine outside the town, with pilgrim traffic on festival days.

Vav

The district's namesake town, where many offices have moved since the new district was formed.

Suigam

A border-side town with a rural economy and long distances to services.

Bhabhar

A town along the highway towards Deesa, with a mix of farming and small business.

Deodar

A town on the road to Palanpur, with a regular produce market.

A larger commercial town known for potatoes and cold storage, a short drive from Tharad.

Palanpur

The long-standing district headquarters of Banaskantha, with the larger hospitals, coaching centres and the Banas Dairy complex.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Tharad

Tharad itself

The town's own schools are Gujarat board or CBSE. We know of none teaching IB or IGCSE, which leaves little to choose from on the spot.

    Nearby: Ahmedabad

The state's biggest city and the usual destination for North Gujarat families looking for an international school.

    • Ahmedabad International School

    Nearby: Delhi NCR

A region with strong business and family ties for Gujarat traders, and the area in which IB Gram also teaches in person.

    • Pathways World School, Gurugram
    • The British School, New Delhi

    Further afield: Mussoorie

A hill-station boarding option used by families from across the northern and western plains.

    • Woodstock School, Mussoorie

We know of no Tharad school that runs the IB or either IGCSE. Institutions named below sit in other cities and appear only to show families what exists beyond the district. They have no business relationship with IB Gram, and nothing here is an endorsement by them, by the IB, by Cambridge or by Pearson.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Tharad: your questions answered

Are there IB or IGCSE tutors in Tharad?+

No IB Gram tutor is based in Tharad. They teach by video from other cities, and a student in Vav-Tharad district joins live private lessons at home with a specialist matched to the exact course, level and exam sitting.

Will a tutor come to my house in Tharad?+

Not in Tharad. Only Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR have tutors who come to the house. What Tharad parents get is the same one-to-one attention over video, with the child sitting at a desk at home and nobody paying for a journey.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Tharad?+

Fees are worked out per match from the level, the subject, session length, how often you meet, and how recently the tutor taught that exact syllabus. There is no public rate card; the number is sent in writing once the trial is done.

Is there an IB school in Tharad or Banaskantha?+

We cannot confirm one. Schools in the area follow the Gujarat board or CBSE. Families seeking IB look at Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR, a hill-station boarding school or an online provider.

My child studies in Gujarati medium. Can they manage IB or IGCSE?+

Yes, with time and preparation. Most IB and IGCSE subjects are examined in English, so the early months emphasise technical vocabulary and written explanation. The subject knowledge is usually already sound.

Which IB subjects do Tharad families ask for?+

Maths (AA and AI), Economics, Business Management and the sciences lead, followed by English A and Computer Science. Business families lean towards Economics and Business.

Do you teach MYP and PYP students?+

Yes. For MYP the work is writing to Criteria A to D and moving the Personal Project along; for PYP, little and often works best, with reading aloud, number work and Exhibition research.

How does IGCSE differ from Class 9 and 10 in Gujarat?+

Syllabus topics can look familiar from the Gujarat board, yet IGCSE sets tiered papers, leans on command words and in some subjects adds coursework or an alternative-to-practical. Knowing how those marks are awarded is what a matched tutor contributes.

What happens if a power cut or poor signal interrupts a lesson?+

A fallback is fixed at the start, for instance continuing over a phone call or moving to another day that week. A class lost to a cut or a weak signal is made up at no charge.

Will the tutor write my child's IA or Extended Essay?+

Never. Explaining what a criterion wants and reacting to a draft is fine; supplying wording, data or conclusions is not. The IB and Cambridge forbid it and so do we.

Which exam sessions can you prepare for?+

Diploma papers fall in May and November. Cambridge runs a summer and an autumn series, Edexcel adds January. Whichever applies, the plan counts back from the paper, with the first complete mock roughly two months out.

Can my child sit IGCSE as a private candidate from Tharad?+

In some cities, yes, through a registered centre, usually with travel for the papers. We prepare the student, the centre manages entry, and we can explain the steps.

    When should tutoring begin?+

The best moment is the first month of the course, meaning Class 11 for DP and Grade 9 for IGCSE. Students who join midway are not lost; the sessions then target the heaviest-scoring topics and timed practice.

What if my child does not get along with the tutor?+

Just tell us. A replacement is arranged, and since we check in every few weeks and sign no long contract, pausing or changing is simple.

Can lessons avoid Navratri and Uttarayan?+

Yes. Share the calendar at the start, and sessions will be moved, paused or doubled up so that revision stays clear of festivals and weddings.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram runs independently of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named on this page.

    How do I start?+

Write to support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the course, subject, level and paper date. A tutor suggestion and trial times follow.

A short message is enough to begin: which syllabus, which subject, which level, and whether your child learns through an online school, from a hostel elsewhere, or has not chosen yet. We reply with a tutor and a few free trial times that suit a Tharad evening. Reach us on support@ibgram.com or WhatsApp +91 7439 368 115.
