IB and IGCSE Tutors and Home Tuition Online in Tarikere

Families in Tarikere who search for home tuition in IB or IGCSE will find that the lesson happens on screen: a tutor teaches live and one to one while the child works at home, because in-person visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Tarikere's schools follow the Karnataka State Board and CBSE, and the closest IB and Cambridge campuses are in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru, so a specialist online closes the distance.

  • A specialist for your child's exact IB subject and level, or IGCSE board, code and tier
  • Lessons are online; house visits are a Gurugram and Delhi NCR service only
  • The first lesson is free and uses a real topic
  • Not tied to any school or exam board mentioned here

IB & IGCSE in Tarikere

Online IB and IGCSE tutoring from the gateway of Malnad, where the syllabus is taught elsewhere

Tarikere stands where the plains of Karnataka begin to rise into the Malnad, at about 697 metres, and its 2011 urban population was 35,942, with another 189,338 in the surrounding taluka. Areca nut, paddy, coffee and coconut fill the farms, and old tanks ring the town, from Doddakere to Chikkere. IB and IGCSE tutors in Tarikere are an unusual request, because no school here teaches either syllabus.

Yet the request is real. It comes from parents whose child is enrolled at an IB or Cambridge campus in Bengaluru, Mysuru or Mangaluru, from families preparing IGCSE papers privately, and from households planning a change of school before Class 9 or Class 11. Areca growers, traders, teachers, doctors and officials in Tarikere, Ajjampura and the Bhadra belt all appear among them.

What they need is a person who has taught the syllabus recently. Tutors in this model live elsewhere in India, teach live over video on Indian Standard Time, and work through a shared whiteboard, so a solved problem or a corrected paragraph is visible to both sides at once. After each lesson a short written recap goes to parents.

IB Gram is independent of every school, board and exam body mentioned on this page. Our tutors explain, mark and coach; they will not write, polish or restructure an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework piece, because those belong to the student.

At a glance

  • Support from PYP to the Diploma, and for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Live, one-to-one lessons by video on Indian Standard Time

  • A short written recap after every lesson
  • House visits are not offered in Tarikere; they exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Tarikere school years

Because Tarikere has no IB school of its own, a programme here is really a description of where a child stands: at a campus in another city, working alone towards papers, or preparing for a switch. Each note below is written for one of those positions.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

The youngest IB learners investigate big ideas through units that blend subjects, and the last year centres on an Exhibition they research and present. Nothing is externally examined, so tutoring focuses on fluent reading, confident number work and the habit of asking good questions.

For Tarikere, PYP enquiries mostly come from parents whose child attends a Bengaluru or Mysuru campus and who want English reading, writing and number work to stay on track through long school breaks at home.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject mark most MYP work, a Personal Project closes the programme, and some schools set an external eAssessment. The usual stumbling block is moving from describing to explaining and then judging.

Tarikere's MYP students typically need help turning good science notes into explanations, reading literature closely in English, and trimming a Personal Project to fit the time they have.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher and three Standard Level subjects, Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS make up the Diploma. Internal Assessments add a fifth to a third of most subjects, and written papers arrive in May.

Diploma students linked to Tarikere are enrolled at a school elsewhere or studying at a distance; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology lead, with Economics and Business Management following.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses sit beside a career-related study and a reflective project, and very few Indian schools run it.

Almost nobody on the Malnad fringe has met the CP; if a family does elsewhere, what they need from a tutor is the Diploma courses inside it.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Higher Level and Standard Level versions of an IB subject differ so sharply that a Tarikere request begins with the subject and level, then the sitting, then the student's present grade. Those three decide the shortlist.

IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions, vectors and proof for the engineer or scientist in the making; Higher Level adds a final paper built from problems the student has never seen.

IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL / SL

Models, data and calculator skill for commerce, life science or design; the Exploration rewards an early, well-chosen topic.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Motion, waves and fields, where clear steps and careful units earn marks and the investigation needs a method you can defend under questioning.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Bonding and energetics, then organic mechanisms; slips in mole calculations are the quiet mark-thieves.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells to ecosystems, with answers aimed at the command term and statistics that can carry a conclusion.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Accurate diagrams tied to a current case; the areca nut market, with its price swings, is a ready real-world example.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Theory applied to the case in front of you; the research project needs a real organisation, such as a co-operative society, a processing unit or a transport firm.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and sustained argument; the Vijayanagara and Nayaka past, including Tarikere's own garrison founded in 1545, gives a regional starting point.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies, fieldwork method and evaluation; the Bhadra reservoir and the edge of the Western Ghats supply regional material.

IB Environmental Systems and Societies

SL / HL

Systems thinking applied to village tanks, a large reservoir and a tiger reserve a short drive away.

IB English A: Language and Literature

HL / SL

Unseen commentary, a comparative essay and an oral, each rehearsed separately; helpful for students who think in Kannada and write in English.

IB Language A in Kannada

HL / SL

Available where the school supports a self-taught course, and a chance to be assessed in the language a student reads best.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Pseudocode, algorithms and objects; the IA program must run and match its own documentation.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

No syllabus to learn; the sessions are conversation for the essay and exhibition, arguing a title from both sides.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

IGCSE means two boards, a handful of tiers and a great many paper codes, so every plan begins by fixing the board, code and tier. A Tarikere student also needs a sitting that an exam centre in a larger city will actually accept.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

At Extended, algebra, graphs and trigonometry separate the top grades, and pace matters most on the paper where calculators are banned.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Class 10

Calculus, functions and trigonometry met a year early, which cushions the jump into IB Mathematics Higher Level.

Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Much the same mathematics as Cambridge, put in Edexcel's own words; its past papers need separate practice.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Formulae, graphs and the alternative-to-practical paper, which matters when laboratory access is limited.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Moles, reaction types, periodicity and organic chemistry, plus apparatus questions that reward practice, not memory.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, inheritance and ecosystems, with structured extended answers that outscore long, loose ones.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Class 9-10

Diagrams first, then evaluation questions that ask a student to weigh both sides and commit to a view.

IGCSE Geography 0460

Class 9-10

Rivers, climate and settlement with data-response work; a Malnad reservoir and a tank-ringed town are real examples close by.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Class 9-10

A practical companion for Kannada-medium students who want an internationally recognised English certificate.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Class 9-10

Named concepts applied to the case paper; a co-operative or a family farm business is a useful mental model.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Tarikere school timetables

Whichever pattern you choose, a Tarikere lesson is live on video with one tutor and one student. The patterns differ in rhythm, not in medium. Nobody comes to the house: home visits are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

A steady weekly session

One lesson a week at a fixed hour, spent teaching a topic and then testing it with a few questions in exam style. It is the simplest pattern and the one most families start with.

  • Suits Diploma, MYP and IGCSE subjects
  • Worked solutions shared live on a whiteboard
  • One tutor throughout

Two weeks of lessons, then a review week

Two lessons a week for a fortnight, followed by a week that centres on one timed paper and a careful look at how it was marked. It suits Higher Level and Extended tier, where technique counts as much as content.

  • New content first, timed practice second
  • A marked paper discussed while the student watches
  • A written recap after each lesson

A sprint before the exam window

A few weeks of closely spaced lessons before a Cambridge, Edexcel or IB sitting, aimed at gaps and pace and planned to dodge Dasara and harvest weeks where possible.

  • Timed papers with quick feedback
  • Weak topics tackled one by one
  • Booking two weeks ahead keeps good hours free
Verified tutors

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Tarikere

Behind each lesson is a tutor with recent experience of one syllabus. The IB and IGCSE tutors in Tarikere's online pool teach students in the town, in Ajjampura and across the Bhadra belt, and each match is made on subject, level and exam sitting.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Tarikere

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE classroom in Tarikere, and who is looking for one?

  • No IB or Cambridge or Edexcel school was confirmed in Tarikere or its district towns
  • Most enquiries come from families tied to a campus in another city
  • Kannada-medium students need time to learn English terms
  • Papers and exam dates are the same as anywhere in India

Nothing we could confirm: neither Tarikere nor the nearby district towns of Shivamogga, Bhadravati and Chikkamagaluru showed a school teaching the IB or an IGCSE. Classrooms here run on the Karnataka State Board and CBSE. Even so, three kinds of family keep asking: those with a child at a campus in Bengaluru, Mysuru or Mangaluru, those entering IGCSE papers privately, and those deciding, before Class 9 or Class 11, whether to change course.

Tarikere's setting explains who they are. The garrison was founded in 1545 by Hanumappa Nayaka, a Vijayanagara general, and the town now serves as a subdivisional headquarters and farm market for areca nut, paddy, coffee and coconut. Growers, traders, teachers, doctors and officials make up the households, and some have relatives in Bengaluru or overseas.

Language shapes the classroom. The district speaks mostly Kannada, 72.7 percent at the 2011 census, with Urdu, Tulu, Tamil and Telugu all present, so many children move between languages daily. The IB and IGCSE papers are in English alone, which is why a tutor who explains an idea plainly and then supplies the English term serves a Kannada-medium student better than one who assumes the vocabulary.

There is also no local group of tutors who have recently taught either syllabus, because no local school does. A specialist elsewhere in India fills that gap, and the marking criteria, past papers and exam dates they prepare a student for are those used by schools in every other city.

02

How does moving from the Karnataka State Board or CBSE to IB or IGCSE feel in practice?

  • IB and IGCSE examiners reward explanation over reproduction
  • Internal Assessments are a far larger task than state-board internals
  • English vocabulary is the quiet hurdle for Kannada-medium students
  • CBSE and ICSE students usually find the step smaller

Think of three moments when the change becomes real. At Class 9 a student meets IGCSE or MYP, and the first surprise is that answers are marked for explanation, not reproduction. At Class 11 the Diploma adds six subjects, a long essay and internal assessments. And at any stage a private candidate meets the exam hall alone. Each moment needs a different kind of preparation.

Karnataka's SSLC and second PUC papers reward a student who reproduces the prescribed text accurately and quickly, which is a real skill. IB and IGCSE examiners give marks for showing why an answer holds, often in a setting the student has not seen. A Tarikere student with a strong PUC Physics score can still find an IB Paper 2 question disorienting in the first month.

Written coursework is the next shift. PUC practicals and internal marks are a small part of the result; an IB Internal Assessment is a sustained piece of independent work judged against published criteria, and IGCSE coursework does the same in a few subjects. A student has to be taught how to choose a question, gather evidence, draft and revise.

CBSE students sit nearer to the IGCSE than Karnataka board students do, particularly in Mathematics and the sciences, and find the step smaller. For Kannada-medium students the new ingredient is English vocabulary; it takes a few terms of deliberate work and pays off everywhere.

03

How should a Tarikere family judge the cost of IB or IGCSE tuition?

  • Subject, level, session length, frequency and recent experience set the quote
  • Nothing is added for travel, because every lesson is online
  • The quote is in writing before you commit
  • You can ask for a different tutor at any time

Ask any tutor five questions and the cost becomes clear: which subject and level; how long is each session; how many sessions a week; how recently have you taught this exact syllabus; and what will it cost, in writing, before I agree. Those five also explain why no price list is published here. The figure follows the lesson, not the town.

Rarer subjects cost more. Higher Level Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, and IGCSE Additional Mathematics, need people who are hard to find, while early-year MYP subjects and IGCSE English as a Second Language draw on a wider pool. Tarikere neither adds nor subtracts: nobody is paid to travel, and an online lesson costs the same whether the student sits in Tarikere or Whitefield.

Compare what an hour produces rather than the number on the quote. A tutor who has marked IGCSE scripts or supervised Internal Assessments can untangle a problem in one session that a less experienced teacher might orbit for a month. With no local specialist to consult, the experience is the product.

You start with a free lesson. Afterwards comes a plan and a written quote. If the fit is wrong, ask for a different tutor.

04

Four ways to spend an evening: online specialist, Shivamogga coaching, local tutor or self-study

  • Coaching in the district towns serves PUC and entrance exams
  • Town tutors rarely have recent IB or IGCSE experience
  • Solo study leaves long answers and coursework unmarked
  • An online specialist brings syllabus knowledge and attention together

Option one is a coaching class in Shivamogga or Chikkamagaluru. These are tuned to the PUC board, KCET, NEET and JEE, and do that job well. An IGCSE Additional Mathematics batch or an IB Chemistry Higher Level class would not fill, so none is offered, and the road there and back would swallow the evening.

Option two is a private tutor in Tarikere. Teachers in town are plentiful for State Board and CBSE subjects, and some have decades of experience. None has taught IB or IGCSE recently because no school nearby does. They can steady a weak topic but cannot tell a student what this year's examiners prefer.

Option three is working alone. IGCSE Mathematics has so many past papers that a disciplined student can go far. The weak points are the things that need a reader: an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay, a long written answer. Without feedback, a wrong habit sets.

Option four is an online specialist, who brings syllabus knowledge and attention in the same hour and needs no road. The one condition is a stable connection; in hill-edge villages that means a mobile-data fallback agreed first, and a lesson lost to weather or power is rebooked.

Areca harvest, Malnad rains, Dasara and Ugadi: the Tarikere study year

  • Harvest weeks pull households away from the desk
  • Monsoon spells can interrupt power and data
  • Holidays double as catch-up blocks when planned
  • IB papers sit in May, with results in early July

Tarikere's year runs on farming and weather. The area grows mainly areca nut, together with paddy, ragi, coffee and coconut, and when the harvest is on, households are busy just as exams approach. Planning around that, rather than pretending it is not there, is what keeps a study term steady.

The monsoon arrives early on the Malnad fringe. Across the district, rainfall ranges from around 5,000 mm in the west to under 1,000 mm in the east, and Tarikere sits where the plains begin to lean towards the hills, so June to September brings long wet spells. Power and mobile data can drop on storm evenings, which is why a spare weekly slot is sensible.

Dasara in autumn, Deepavali, Sankranti in January and Ugadi in spring break up the school year, and Kannada Rajyotsava falls on 1 November. The March-April SSLC and second PUC examinations fill the house with a sibling's revision. Each holiday works as a catch-up window if it is planned for.

Exam bodies add dates: Cambridge IGCSE in May-June and October-November, Edexcel with a January window for some subjects, IB Diploma papers in May and results in early July. April and May, the warm months, are best used for timed practice early in the morning or after dark.

Shivamogga, Bengaluru, elsewhere in India or abroad: where can a Tarikere graduate go?

  • Shivamogga offers agricultural, engineering and medical institutions
  • Kuvempu University and AIT Chikkamagaluru are within the region
  • An AIU certificate is the usual first step for Indian admissions
  • Predicted grades, not final results, drive most overseas offers

Within easy reach are Shivamogga's University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru New College of Engineering and Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences, Kuvempu University near Bhadravati, and Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology in Chikkamagaluru. Agriculture suits an areca-growing district; engineering and medicine look to Bengaluru and Mysuru as well.

Five checks come before subject choices. First, the AIU equivalence certificate that converts an IB Diploma, or IGCSE plus A-levels, into an Indian qualification. Second, CUET-UG for central universities. Third, NEET, which wants Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Fourth, JEE Main, which wants Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Fifth, KCET, whose rules for other boards the Karnataka Examinations Authority revises every year.

For study abroad, admissions offices lean on the predicted grade a school sends in the autumn rather than the May result. British universities name IB points or A-level grades and subjects; American ones read essays, activities and scores together; German and Dutch ones check prerequisites. A Tarikere student far from a counsellor should gather these early.

Tutors here teach and coach; they do not counsel or submit applications. If a target course needs Mathematics at Higher Level, you will hear it plainly and the plan will be built around it.

07

Common IB Maths and science mistakes, and how a tutor fixes them from a distance

  • Pick AA or AI for fit, not reputation
  • Settle the Exploration topic in the first months
  • Practise unfamiliar problems, not only routine ones
  • Describe, explain and evaluate each earn marks differently

Maths first. Students choose between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation on reputation rather than fit: AA leans into calculus, proof and, at Higher Level, complex numbers, while AI leans into data, models and technology. The second common mistake is leaving the Exploration topic until the last term, and the third is practising only routine questions, which leaves the final paper's unfamiliar problems untouched.

In Physics and Chemistry the lost marks are unglamorous: a sign dropped while rearranging an equation, a unit left off, the wrong page of the data booklet. Both subjects also need a scientific investigation, and a student near the Bhadra reservoir or the Malnad forest has good natural material, provided the question can be tested with equipment that is actually within reach.

Biology students usually have the facts. The mistake is answering describe when the paper said evaluate, and supporting an investigation's conclusion with statistics too thin to bear it. A tutor can test the logic of a plan or a draft and show where it breaks, without writing a sentence.

From a distance the method is simple: worked solutions appear on a shared board as the student watches, timed answers are marked the same day, and a recap goes home afterwards. What matters is that the tutor has taught this exact course recently.

08

Reading an IGCSE certificate: tiers, boards and subject combinations

  • Core grades run C to G; Extended grades run A* to E
  • Extended Mathematics plus 0606 is the smoother road to AA Higher Level
  • Match the tutor to the board the student will actually sit
  • Choose sittings that avoid board exams and festival weeks

A certificate tells a reader three things: the board, the tier and the grade. Cambridge Core grades run C to G and Extended grades A* to E, so a student who may later take IB Mathematics or a Higher Level science should usually enter Extended in Mathematics and the sciences. The decision is better made before the Class 10 mocks than during them.

Additional Mathematics 0606 adds a line that Diploma teachers read closely: calculus, functions and trigonometry met a year early. It is a choice for students who enjoy Mathematics, and private candidates can usually add it without disturbing their other entries.

Edexcel offers a parallel road. Its International GCSE Mathematics A, code 4MA1, has Foundation and Higher tiers and poses the same mathematics in a different voice. Where the exam centre within reach registers for Edexcel only, pick a tutor who has worked from Edexcel papers, not converted Cambridge ones.

Combinations matter. A Kannada-medium student might pair the sciences with English as a Second Language 0510, add Geography or Economics for a humanities lean, and choose sittings that miss the March-April board exams and the Dasara weeks.

Where we tutor

Tarikere localities and neighbouring towns our online tutors work with

Lessons are online, so these places supply context rather than distances: which part of the taluka a household lives in, where the highway or the railway shapes the day, and where mobile data has to stand in for broadband.

Tarikere town centre and bus stand

The market and municipal core on the BH Road (NH 69) between Bengaluru and Honnavar, where traders, teachers and officials live and buses leave for Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Bengaluru.

Tarikere railway station area

The station on the Birur-Talguppa line, served by trains from Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru and Bengaluru; rail commuters' households plan evening lessons around arrival times.

The tank belt: Doddakere, Chikkere and Dalavikere

Residential pockets beside the old tanks that ring the town; evenings are quiet, and monsoon nights are when a spare weekly slot earns its place.

Amruthapura

The village known for its Hoysala-era Amritheshwara temple; most households are farming families who rely on mobile data.

Ajjampura

A taluka town of its own, with a market and schools; students from here often come to Tarikere for higher classes.

Lakkavalli and the Bhadra reservoir

Forest-edge households near the dam and the wildlife sanctuary, where signal can be patchy and a hotspot fallback is agreed first.

Kemmangundi

The hill station in the taluka, a tourist-facing community where mobile signal can be uneven.

Lingadahalli and the SH-57 road

On the state highway towards Chikkamagaluru, about 57 km by this route; families here often shop and study in Tarikere.

Bhadravati and Shivamogga

The nearest cities along NH 69, with the steel and paper mills of Bhadravati and the colleges and coaching of Shivamogga, where some Tarikere students go for school.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Tarikere

Tarikere and its taluk

Teaching here is under the Karnataka State Board and CBSE. No IB, Cambridge or Edexcel classroom turned up, so families study online, sit papers privately or look at campuses in other cities.

    Shivamogga, Bhadravati and Chikkamagaluru

The nearest district towns, with good colleges and coaching; we found no confirmed IB or IGCSE school in any of them.

      Nearby: Bengaluru

Karnataka's largest group of IB and Cambridge campuses, roughly 250 km away, usually considered for boarding or relocation.

      • Inventure Academy
      • Indus International School, Bengaluru

      Nearby: Mysuru

A well-known education city to the south-east, with residential options for families who want boarding.

      • I Can International School
      • De Paul International Residential School, Srirangapatna

      Nearby: Mangaluru

The coastal option, across the Ghats, with Cambridge-curriculum schools that Malnad families sometimes weigh.

      • The Bharath Academy
      • TLC Cambridge International School

We could not confirm an IB, Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school in Tarikere, Shivamogga or Chikkamagaluru, so none is presented as local. Campuses shown under other cities are options families consider; IB Gram has no relationship with them, or with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

      How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

      1. 01

        Introduce your child

Say which board or programme, which subject and level, when the exam is, and when evenings are free.

      2. 02

Get a shortlist matched to the syllabus

We look for someone who has recently taught that exact course, since Tarikere has no local specialist to compare them with.

      3. 03

        Sit a free lesson

A genuine lesson on a real topic, with no fee and no pressure to continue.

      4. 04

Weigh the plan and the quote

You receive topics, pace and rate in writing before anything starts.

      5. 05

Carry on, review, swap if needed

Weekly lessons with a recap after each, a review every few weeks, and a change of tutor whenever it helps.

      Why families choose us

What Tarikere parents tell us matters most

      The syllabus decides the match

We shortlist by IB subject and level or IGCSE board, code and tier, not by a general title.

      A specialist where none teaches

Tarikere has no IB or IGCSE classroom, so the pool is national, not empty.

Judge the tutor by a real lesson

The first lesson is free and uses your child's actual material.

      Their own work, always

Tutors can question an argument or explain a criterion; the words of assessed work are the student's.

      A recap you can read

After each lesson a short note goes home, and a fuller review follows every few weeks.

      Independent, in writing

No tie to any school or board, a written quote up front, and tutors swapped on request.

      Student and parent reviews

What students and parents say about working with IB Gram

Practical feedback on tutor fit, revision structure and communication from IB and IGCSE families, including those studying in Tarikere.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Tarikere: your questions answered

Is there an IB school in Tarikere, Shivamogga or Chikkamagaluru?+

We could not confirm one in any of the three. Schools there follow the Karnataka State Board, CBSE or ICSE, and nothing turned up teaching the Diploma, MYP or PYP. Families who want the IB normally keep up a programme begun in Bengaluru, Mysuru or Mangaluru, or plan a move. For IB and IGCSE tutors in Tarikere, we then match a specialist to the exact subject and level.

Does Tarikere have a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school?+

Nothing confirmed in Tarikere or the nearby district towns. Some families enter IGCSE papers as private candidates through an approved centre in a larger city; others change schools before Class 9. Lessons follow the specific board, paper code and tier, because Cambridge and Edexcel phrase their questions in different ways.

Will a tutor come to our house in Tarikere?+

They will not. Tarikere teaching is online, and house visits belong to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. You get a live video lesson, a tutor and one student, and a shared whiteboard in place of a desk. Your child still studies at home, which is what searchers mean by home tuition.

What will IB or IGCSE tuition cost us in Tarikere?+

We print no prices because they depend on the subject, level, session length, weekly frequency and the tutor's recent experience of that exact syllabus. A written quote comes before you commit. Scarcer courses, such as Higher Level sciences, are dearer; where you live in Chikkamagaluru district makes no difference.

Our child studies in Kannada medium. Is the English too much?+

Not with patient vocabulary work. Most Kannada-medium students grasp the ideas well; what is new is the English terminology and the structure of written answers. Mention the medium of schooling at the start, and the tutor will introduce each English term beside its concept over a few terms.

Why not simply join a coaching class in Shivamogga?+

Coaching there targets the PUC board and KCET, NEET and JEE, so an IB or IGCSE batch is almost never on offer, and the journey from Tarikere would consume much of an evening. A live one-to-one lesson follows your child's own syllabus and needs no travel.

Can my child sit IGCSE papers while staying at a Karnataka board school?+

Often, for single subjects such as Mathematics or a science, by entering through an approved exam centre. The nearest centre is usually in a bigger city and entry deadlines fall months before the paper, so confirm dates first. Lessons are then planned backwards from that date, around the school timetable.

Can the IB Diploma be done privately?+

Not as a stand-alone candidate. The Diploma runs only through IB World Schools, so the school comes first and the tutor second. Once your child is enrolled, in a classroom or by distance learning, a tutor can coach any Higher or Standard Level subject alongside.

How do the areca harvest and monsoon affect lessons?+

They change the best hours more than the format. During a busy harvest we choose quieter evenings or weekend mornings, and in heavy rain a spare weekly slot and a mobile-data fallback keep the term on course. Tell us the dates at the start and we build around them.

Will the tutor write my child's Internal Assessment?+

Never. A tutor can explain the criteria, discuss a research question, talk through data collection and react to a draft. The writing, the analysis and the final submission stay with the student, since assessed work must be their own.

Do you teach younger children in MYP and PYP?+

Yes. MYP lessons centre on criterion-based writing in the sciences and Language and Literature, plus finishing the Personal Project. PYP learners get short, friendly sessions in reading, writing and number sense, turning to Exhibition research in the last year. All lessons are live and one to one.

Do IB and IGCSE results work for KCET, NEET or JEE?+

Each has its own rules for students from other boards, usually an AIU equivalence certificate and certain subjects at certain levels, and they change yearly. Read the latest notification before finalising subjects. Tutors prepare subject content; counselling and application forms lie outside their role.

What happens if the power or internet fails mid-lesson?+

We reschedule it. Many households around Tarikere and the Bhadra belt rely on mobile data, so a fallback is agreed before the first lesson. The tutor also sends the session's worked solutions, which means an interrupted class still leaves notes.

How do we start, and is the first lesson really free?+

Send the board or programme, subject and level, and a few convenient times. A suitable tutor replies with trial slots. The lesson is real, on a topic from your child's syllabus, and free. Afterwards come a short plan and a written quote, and then the choice is yours.

What if the tutor is not the right fit?+

Say so and another tutor is found. Progress is reviewed every few weeks, which is often when a poor fit shows. Nothing locks you in, and stopping is always your decision.

Is IB Gram linked with any school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram is independent, with no partnership or endorsement from any school, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson. Schools named on this page are there to show the options families consider, nothing more.
