IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Songadh

A private IB or Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE tutor for your child in Songadh, taught live over video at the family's own home below the old Gaekwad hill fort. The school may be in Surat or elsewhere, or an online programme; the tutor is matched to the course either way. Nobody visits Songadh in person, because home visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • A tutor matched to your child's specific IB or IGCSE course, not just to the subject
  • Online throughout: no tutor turns up at a Songadh door, as visits happen only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free trial class to watch before any rate comes up
  • No link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or the schools named on this page

IB & IGCSE in Songadh

IB and IGCSE tuition for a Songadh family

Songadh is a taluka town in Tapi district, built at the foot of a solitary hill that carries the Songadh Fort, attributed to Pilaji Rao Gaekwad, who took the area in 1719. The district headquarters at Vyara is about 18 km away, Surat is around 85 km, and Highway 6 runs through the town. About 26,500 people lived in the municipality in 2011, thirty-odd stone quarries ring the town, and the Ukai Dam is some 13 km off, with the Dosvada Dam and Chimer waterfall also nearby.

The schools here follow the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, with some CBSE-affiliated and English-medium options. So when a Songadh parent looks for IB and IGCSE tutors in Songadh, the school behind the question is normally elsewhere: in Surat, in a boarding campus, or in an online programme. What the family lacks, in the town itself, is anyone who has taught that syllabus.

We have not been able to confirm a school in Songadh or Vyara offering the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, so we name none. In its place IB Gram supplies online home tuition: one specialist, one student, a live video lesson at home. No tutor drives out to Songadh. Our in-person visits remain limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

IB Gram has no affiliation with the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school. A tutor explains and marks; the Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay and coursework always stay the student's own work.

At a glance

  • IB from PYP to DP and CP, plus Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE
  • A private video lesson at home, never a group
  • Short written feedback after each session
  • A free trial before any money is discussed
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Songadh school years

Since an IB or IGCSE classroom is usually some distance from Songadh, families need to understand each stage before the commute or the move. The notes below describe each programme and the gaps a student from a GSEB background tends to show.

PYPNursery-Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised around inquiries rather than chapters, and the last year is capped by an Exhibition the child plans and presents. Help at home is gentle: shared books, number talk and encouraging the child to say why.

A child who speaks Gujarati or a tribal language at home gains most from regular, unhurried English conversation rather than worksheets.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Every subject is graded on four criteria and units connect to real-world contexts. The Personal Project, a long self-directed task, finishes the programme.

Pupils coming from GSEB classrooms tend to remember facts well and need practice explaining a view and backing it with evidence.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Coursework through the two years joins the final papers in May or November.

Diploma enquiries linked to Tapi usually concern Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English A, from students who moved to a Surat or boarding school at Class 11.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A pathway in which two Diploma subjects sit beside a career-focused course and a reflective project. Only a handful of schools in India teach it.

CP enquiries from south Gujarat are rare; where they occur, we support the Diploma subjects inside the student's combination.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A Gujarat Board paper tends to reward the student who can reproduce a whole answer. IB and IGCSE papers reward the one who does what the command word says. For Songadh students, a tutor begins by finding which command words go wrong, then shapes each subject around them.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions, vectors and proof. Gujarat students are often rapid at routine algebra and slower at laying out a justified argument.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and technology, a fit for students headed for commerce, economics and design.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and thermal physics; a data booklet to master and units to get right.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Moles and bonding feel familiar; equilibrium, energetics and organic reactions are tested through explanation.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells, genetics, ecology and human physiology, with local river and forest ecology as ready examples.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams and news-based commentary; quarrying, sugar-cane pricing and Surat's textile trade give real cases.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study papers and a research project; south Gujarat's quarry, transport and textile firms offer real organisations to study.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Textual analysis, essays and an oral; Gujarati-first writers benefit from structured English paragraph practice.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, programming and a documented internal solution.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Dams, forests and quarry land use make unusually concrete investigation topics near Songadh.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Water resources, population and fieldwork; the Tapi basin and Ukai reservoir are strong case studies.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and long essays; Maratha and Gaekwad history are usable context for early modern topics.

IB Gujarati B and Hindi B

HL / SL

Language courses where a Gujarati-speaking home helps; oral fluency and text types decide marks.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Conversation-based coaching on knowledge claims and the exhibition; the student writes every word.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The two IGCSE boards available in India do not run to the same calendar. Cambridge papers sit in February-March, May-June and October-November; Pearson Edexcel papers in January, May-June and November. Someone entering privately from Songadh will need a recognised centre, which is likely to mean Surat or Ahmedabad, so ask early.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended leads to the top grades, and lost marks are usually unwritten steps.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus and identities a year early, helping the move into IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Pearson sequences and phrases questions differently from Cambridge, which is why its papers are used.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Formula rearrangement, graph reading and the paper that replaces the practical.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole sums, reaction rates, organic basics and ion tests.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Heredity, transport in organisms and human systems with ordered long answers.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets and policy, tested through data and short articles.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, logic and Python.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Applying ideas to a named firm, with short finance sums.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing, listening and speaking for students with Gujarati at home.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

A compact language paper where technique pays quickly.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Songadh school timetables

Songadh lessons all take one form: a video call between a single student and a single tutor, held at home, since tutors do not travel to the town. Families vary only in how they arrange the weeks.

A standing evening lesson

The same tutor on the same evening each week, with exercises to finish before the next call. It suits a student already on an international course who wants one subject lifted.

  • One consistent tutor
  • Course and level agreed first
  • Past papers marked weekly
  • Timed around the Surat bus run

A run-up before changing school

Several weeks of lessons placed before a child swaps GSEB for an IB or IGCSE classroom, spent on formal English, command verbs and the shakiest subject.

  • English for study
  • Command-verb drills
  • Repair in the weakest subject
  • A closing summary for the family

A pre-exam block

More frequent calls as school mocks and the May or November papers approach, spent on timed work and the published marking guidance.

  • Two to four sessions a week
  • Papers marked to official criteria
  • Specific feedback notes
  • Booked before Navratri and Diwali

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Songadh

01

Schooling around Songadh and where the IB would come from

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Songadh or Vyara
  • Surat holds the nearest listed IB options
  • Families: quarry and transport businesses, power-sector and government staff, households with relatives abroad
  • Support is private tuition by video

Songadh grew around its fort and its stone. The Bhil rulers who held the area gave way to Pilaji Rao Gaekwad in 1719, and the town today is a taluka centre with a community health centre, private hospitals, a bus terminal and, around it, quarries that have lifted the local economy. Schools in the town teach under the Gujarat board, with Gujarati-medium classrooms alongside English-medium ones, and students who continue study often go to Vyara or Surat.

What we cannot find is a school in Songadh or Vyara offering the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. The closest listings we could verify are in Surat: Fountainhead School on Rander-Dandi Road in Olpad taluka, and Aarth Universal School at Malgama, which is listed for IB PYP, MYP and DP. Please check their current offers and admissions directly.

The families who ask us about this are of several kinds. Some run quarrying, transport or trading businesses and expect a child to join them or study abroad. Some work for the Ukai power station or government departments and expect postings. Some have relatives in the US, the UK or East Africa, a familiar Gujarati pattern, who suggest an international qualification. All face the same issue: no one nearby knows the syllabus.

We fill that gap with online tutoring, matched to the course and level. The lesson happens at home; the tutor is elsewhere.

02

How are IB and IGCSE different from GSEB and CBSE?

The first difference is what earns marks. GSEB and CBSE papers reward accurate, complete content in the textbook's own order. IB and IGCSE papers reward use of content: interpreting a table, comparing two views, planning a test, defending a conclusion.

The second is how effort is spread. International courses have internal assessments, coursework or practical papers, so the work is distributed across two years rather than concentrated in the weeks before a March board exam.

The third is language. Songadh students think in Gujarati or a regional language and write English with care but not always at length. Tutors teach the structure of an extended answer and the vocabulary each subject expects.

None of this makes the international route harder across the board. Many students find criteria-based marking clearer once they have seen it, and families who understand the differences early adapt well.

03

What do IB or IGCSE lessons cost a Songadh family?

You will not find a rate card here. What a family pays turns on the programme and level, the subject, who the tutor is and how often they teach your child, and the figure arrives in writing once the free trial is over.

The level moves the number most: Higher Level Diploma sciences ask far more of a tutor than Primary Years reading support. Seniority follows, then weekly frequency, then the season, as diaries fill ahead of the May and November exams.

There is a saving that never appears on a price list. No one in Songadh pays for the 85 km trip to Surat for a class, and no evening disappears on Highway 6. The fee covers teaching alone.

Before you agree, ask how a tutor can be changed and what written feedback you receive. Those terms count for as much as the hourly rate.

04

Online tuition, Surat coaching, local tutors or self-study from Songadh?

Four routes are open to a Songadh household. Coaching classes in Surat are plentiful, though nearly all prepare for Board papers, JEE and NEET. The tutor down the lane knows your child, not the international syllabus. A student who is highly organised can get far on past papers alone. The remaining route is a video lesson with someone who has taught the course.

A word on the connection: broadband in town generally holds up, the hill villages and dam shores are patchier, and monsoon storms can take out the power. Having a mobile hotspot and a charged laptop ready solves most of it, and a tutor can finish by audio if video fails.

Learning at home lacks classmates working on the same paper, so once your child is settled we can suggest a small online group or a study partner.

The table puts the four options side by side.

Monsoon, Navratri, Uttarayan and exams: the Songadh year

South Gujarat's monsoon is heavy, and the hill and dam country around Songadh sees the worst of it from late June to September. Roads to Surat and Vyara can flood, power can fail, and mobile data can slow. Online lessons are far easier to keep going than classroom trips, but a family should keep a backup connection and expect lighter weeks in the wettest spells.

Navratri in the autumn takes whole evenings across Gujarat, with garba from dusk to late night, and children join in. We pause lessons on the main nights and avoid mocks in that week. Uttarayan on 14 January, the kite festival, is another day when study stops, and Diwali follows soon after Navratri.

Summer from April to June is hot, so afternoons are poor for study and early evening works better. Winter is mild, and December to February is the best window for steady weekly lessons.

Examination windows cut across the festival year: both qualifications sit around May and November, and the November papers arrive right after Navratri and Diwali, which makes early October the sensible deadline for heavy revision.

06

Where can an IB or IGCSE student from Songadh go next?

The Diploma counts as a Class 12 equivalent with the Association of Indian Universities, which keeps most undergraduate doors open, and many central universities admit through CUET-UG. IGCSE stops at Grade 10, so its holders move on to AS and A Level or into the Diploma.

Gujarat has a strong list of institutions: Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and SVNIT in Surat, IIT Gandhinagar, Nirma and Ahmedabad University, plus IIM Ahmedabad and NID for later study. Each has its own approach to foreign boards, so read the current admission notice before choosing HL subjects.

Aspiring engineers and doctors face JEE Main and NEET rules written specifically for IB and IGCSE candidates; read them during Class 10 rather than at the end of Class 12.

Abroad, admissions offices in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and Singapore know IB and IGCSE transcripts well, and Gujarat's wide diaspora means many families already have contacts there. Tutors work on subject grades; applications stay with the family.

07

IB Maths, the sciences and local project ideas for Songadh students

Choosing between the IB's two Maths courses is often the first big decision. One is built on algebra, calculus and proof, and fits those heading for engineering or the physical sciences. The other leans on data, models and calculators, and fits future economists, designers and managers. A single trial session can show which one matches a child.

A fifth of the Maths grade comes from the exploration, an independent investigation that works best on something close to home. Reservoir levels at Ukai, the shape of the fort walls or the haul cycles of a quarry would each support real mathematics.

In science papers, the facts are rarely the problem for Board-trained students. Marks go missing because the answer is long and loose, where the IB prefers three beats: the principle, its use on the data, the conclusion. Tutors rehearse that rhythm repeatedly.

Biology and Environmental Systems investigations on river water, forest or quarry restoration are natural here, but the project must be the student's own. A tutor can question and compare to the criteria; the data and writing are the student's.

08

Choosing IGCSE tiers, boards and subjects from Songadh

  • Enter Extended if IB HL or A Level sciences are in prospect
  • Learn the school's board before arranging lessons
  • Additional Mathematics is good groundwork for IB Maths AA
  • Private candidates need to secure a centre seat early

Most IGCSE students sit five to eight subjects across Grades 9 and 10, with English, Maths and at least one science forming the core.

A Core entry cannot earn the highest grades. Students who may want IB Higher Level or A Level sciences afterwards should therefore be entered at Extended.

As the two boards lay out papers and fix dates in their own ways, all practice is tied to the board of the actual entry.

Anyone entering as a private candidate must book a place at an exam centre early; the nearest is likely to be in Surat.

Where we tutor

Songadh and the places around it

Since the teaching happens through a screen, place names below describe daily life rather than lessons: how far the bus to Surat goes, which approach roads the monsoon floods and which nights a festival swallows.

Songadh town centre

The market and civic core of a municipality of about 26,500, at the foot of the fort hill.

Songadh Fort hill

The hilltop fort attributed to Pilaji Rao Gaekwad, with Mughal and Maratha features; a landmark and a local walk.

Quarry belt

About thirty stone quarries around the town; shift work shapes many households' evenings.

Highway 6 bus terminal

The departure point for buses to Surat and Vyara, used by students heading to city schools.

Ukai Dam side

About 13 km away, with the reservoir and thermal power station; signal and power can vary near the water.

Vyara direction

About 18 km to the district headquarters, for courts, hospitals and wider schooling.

Dosvada Dam and Chimer waterfall

Monsoon sightseeing spots; weekend crowds and wet roads affect travel from July to September.

Surat route

About 85 km south, where international schools, exam centres and the nearest airport lie.

Villages of the taluka

Smaller settlements across the hills, where mobile coverage and power are more variable.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Songadh

Songadh itself

Few options here; the town's schools follow GSEB or CBSE and we found none that teach IB or IGCSE.

    Nearby: Vyara

The district headquarters, 18 km away. We could not confirm an IB or IGCSE school there, so none is listed.

      Nearby: Surat

About 85 km south, the nearest city with listed IB schools, reached by Highway 6.

      • Fountainhead School, Rander-Dandi Road, Surat
      • Aarth Universal School, Malgama, Surat

No IB or IGCSE course at a school in Songadh or Vyara could be verified. Two Surat schools are listed below purely as destinations south Gujarat parents look at; whatever they teach now, and whom they admit, is for the school to say. IB Gram has no deal with either, or with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

      How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

      1. 01

Tell us what your child is studying

Name the school or intended school, the board, the subject, the level and the month of the exam.

      2. 02

        Get a single recommendation

Expect one tutor, with a few lines on their background, rather than a list to choose from.

      3. 03

        Watch a free class

A real topic is taught live on video, and a parent can sit in to judge the pace.

      4. 04

        Fix the arrangement in writing

You receive the hourly rate, the weekly slot and the date for the first review before deciding.

      5. 05

        Stay or swap

Each lesson ends with a short note; if the chemistry is not there, a different tutor is arranged.

      Why families choose us

What Songadh parents tell us matters most

      Chosen for the syllabus

A tutor for IB Physics HL is picked for exactly that, since it differs from general Physics help.

      Straight about distance

You are told at the start that lessons are online and the nearest IB campuses sit in Surat.

      Gujarat's calendar respected

Navratri nights, kite day and the wettest monsoon weeks are marked before slots are offered.

Support that stops short of authorship

No tutor drafts an IA, Extended Essay or any coursework that carries the student's name.

      Feedback you can read

Short notes say what was covered and what to rehearse next.

      No fuss over a change

Asking for another tutor is enough, and it costs the family nothing.

      Student and parent reviews

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Songadh: your questions answered

My child lives in Songadh. Can an IB subject specialist teach her at all?+

Yes, over a live video link. We look for someone who has taught her exact subject and level, and each session involves only her and the tutor. Because house visits are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, nobody comes to Songadh; she needs a laptop, a quiet corner and a dependable connection.

Is there any IB or IGCSE school in Tapi district?+

We could not confirm one in Songadh or Vyara. Schools there teach the Gujarat board or CBSE syllabus. Our checks turned up IB listings in Surat, roughly 85 km south, and any family should ask those schools directly about current programmes and places.

      Does anyone visit the house?+

No one does in Songadh. We send tutors to homes only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What a Songadh child gets is online home tuition: a private lesson attended from home, with the personal attention intact and the highway journey gone.

How do you arrive at a fee?+

Several factors combine: programme and level, subject, tutor seniority and the number of lessons a week. We publish no rate card. Once the trial class has been taken, a written quotation spells out the hourly rate, the weekly schedule and when the first review falls.

Our son may enter a Surat school next June. How should we use the time until then?+

A short run of sessions beforehand can build academic English, teach what the command words demand and repair the subject he finds hardest. It can follow the school's entrance paper if there is one. Tell us the school and class, and we plan backwards from his first day.

Which IB subjects can be taught?+

Maths in both forms at HL and SL, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, History, Gujarati, Hindi and TOK coaching. If yours is missing, send the code and we will answer honestly.

Is the IGCSE offered for both Cambridge and Edexcel?+

It is, in Maths, Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science and English. Because each board words questions and awards marks in its own manner, we practise on the papers of the board your child will face.

What will the trial class involve?+

A tutor takes one genuine topic from the present syllabus and teaches it live while you look on. Fees are not mentioned until the end. If your child finds the style a poor fit, another tutor is offered, still free.

Can the tutor write part of my daughter's Internal Assessment?+

No part of it. What a tutor can do is explain the marking criteria, put questions that sharpen her plan and respond to a draft she has produced herself. The ideas, figures and sentences must all be hers, which is what IB and Cambridge rules demand.

How badly does the monsoon disrupt lessons?+

Less than it disrupts travel. Downpours around the dams can cut power, so we lighten the wettest weeks, ask for a hotspot and a charged laptop, and switch to audio with a shared document if video drops. Any lesson lost completely is rebooked.

Will you stop for Navratri and Uttarayan?+

We will. Main Navratri nights and 14 January are left free, and mocks are kept away from those weeks. Heavy revision for a November sitting is placed in September and early October, so the festivals never squeeze it.

How hard is the step from a GSEB school to IB?+

Usually gentler than parents expect. Much of the content is familiar. The real shift is academic English and the habit of answering the command verb, and a bridging block before the move normally handles both.

Can younger children be tutored too?+

They can. In PYP the sessions are picture books, number games and putting an idea into words; in MYP they turn to criteria and the Personal Project. Beginning early leaves the Diploma years less crowded.

Where might an IB or IGCSE course lead?+

Within India, the Association of Indian Universities rates the Diploma as equal to Class 12 and central universities largely admit through CUET-UG; IGCSE holders go on to AS and A Level or the Diploma. JEE and NEET carry separate conditions. Overseas, American, British, Canadian and Australian universities accept both.

What checks are made on tutors?+

We look at qualifications, at how recently they taught this very programme and at a sample lesson. Every tutor lives in India and works Indian hours, and anyone who does not suit your child is replaced.

Does IB Gram belong to a school, the IB or Cambridge?+

It does not. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service, and the Surat schools named on this page are simply places a family may choose to look into.

      How do we get going?+

Write to support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the school, board, subject, level and sitting. A tutor suggestion and trial times usually come back within a working day.

Tell us what your child is studying and when the exam falls, and a proposed tutor and trial times will follow. All teaching is by video, so the lesson is held at home in Songadh and nobody has to make the trip to Surat or from it.
