IB and IGCSE Tutors and Home Tuition in Sohna

Home tuition for IB and IGCSE students in Sohna, either with a tutor visiting the house or as live one-to-one lessons on a laptop. Sohna belongs to Gurugram district, which is the one part of India where our tutors do go to students' homes, but the town lies well south of the sector grid and a tutor has to be free on that side of the Aravalis. Tell us the programme, subject and exam session and we will say plainly which format will work, then book a free trial lesson.

  • Home visits in parts of Gurugram district where a tutor is free, online lessons everywhere else
  • Tutors who have taught IB DP, MYP, PYP and Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE papers
  • Slots planned around Sohna Road traffic and the school bus timetable
  • Free trial lesson and a short written note after every session
  • A different tutor at no charge if the first match does not suit

IB & IGCSE in Sohna

Why Sohna families ask for IB and IGCSE tutors close to home

Sohna is a municipal town of roughly fifty thousand people in Gurugram district, set against the Aravali foothills on the old road to Alwar, famous for its sulphur springs and the Damdama lake nearby. Most children here follow the Haryana board or CBSE. A smaller and growing group studies the IB or Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, because their parents work in Gurugram's offices, run businesses along the Alwar highway, or have returned from abroad and bought land or a flat in the newer townships. Many of those children ride a long school bus to a campus on Sohna Road or further up towards Golf Course Extension.

That distance is what shapes the search for IB and IGCSE tutors in Sohna. A school day that ends at three can still mean a child is home after five, tired, with a Paper 2 worksheet waiting. Because Sohna is inside Gurugram district, we can arrange home tuition in person where one of our tutors is working on that corridor, and we say so honestly when nobody is. Otherwise the same tutor teaches live online at your own desk, and nothing about the syllabus changes.

On this page we set out how that works from a Sohna address: which schools students actually attend, how the boards compare, what drives the rate, how the exam calendar meets Haryana's school year, and where students go next. We are an independent tutoring service with no formal link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school mentioned. Tutors explain and coach. They do not write internal assessments, Extended Essays or coursework for students.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Sohna school years

The four IB programmes and two IGCSE boards reach a Sohna household in a predictable order, usually through a school on the Gurugram side. What a tutor does changes with each stage.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-11

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units, a learner profile and a closing Exhibition. Private lessons stay short and practical: reading aloud, number facts, and putting ideas into a sentence or two.

Young children on a long school bus are tired by evening. For PYP in Sohna we keep sessions to a short slot and prefer a tutor at the house or a calm online call.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups marked against criteria, plus the Personal Project. The tutor teaches how to unpack a command term and build a criterion-ready answer, not only the content.

Switchers from Haryana board or CBSE into an MYP school near Sohna Road often need two or three months to get used to criterion marking. Regular weekly help closes that gap.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Tutoring covers the examined papers and the method of the internal assessments, never the writing of them.

A DP student travelling from Sohna loses roughly two hours a day to the road. Tutors help most by sharpening those evening hours on the one paper that is weakest.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

Career-related Programme

Two or three DP courses combined with a career-related study and the reflective project. Tutors support the chosen DP courses and academic English.

Few schools around Sohna run CP. We take requests case by case and pair the student with a tutor for the specific DP courses chosen.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Sohna school timetables

Sohna is unusual among Indian towns on our list because both formats are real. Pick by the child's week, not by habit.

Home tuition in Sohna, Gurugram district

A tutor visits the house, subject to availability on the Sohna Road corridor.

  • Offered in parts of Gurugram district; we confirm a tutor can reach your address before you pay anything
  • Best for younger students, or for subjects that need pen-and-paper working beside a tutor
  • A fixed weekday slot, so the travel time is planned rather than rushed
  • If no tutor is free near you, we say so and offer the online route

Live online home tuition

The same one-to-one lesson on a laptop from your own room, with a shared digital whiteboard.

  • Available across Sohna, Damdama, Rojka Meo, Tauru side and nearby villages
  • No travel for the tutor, so evening slots survive traffic and weather
  • Tutors can be chosen from the whole country rather than the nearest road
  • Lesson notes and photographed working shared straight after class

Hybrid blend

A home visit on weekends and online sessions on busy weekdays.

  • Popular with Diploma students before mocks
  • One tutor throughout, so the student does not restart each time
  • Switch the mix without notice if a bus route changes
  • Written note after every session whichever format ran

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sohna

01

Which IB and IGCSE schools do Sohna students actually attend?

Sohna town has far fewer international-curriculum campuses than the sectors north of it, so most Sohna IB and IGCSE students travel. The main belt runs along Sohna Road towards Gurugram, where GD Goenka World School and Pathways World School operate IB programmes, alongside Heritage Xperiential Learning School and The Shri Ram School, Aravali. Scottish High International School and Lancers International School draw some Bhondsi and Badshahpur families as well. A realistic bus ride is thirty to forty-five minutes each way, longer in the monsoon.

The families who choose these schools are a mix. There are parents who commute to Gurugram offices and chose Sohna for space, business owners whose plants sit in the Rojka Meo belt, NRI returnees who bought in the newer townships, and a few service families transferred to the region. Their children arrive at IB or IGCSE at different ages, which matters for tutoring: a child who joins in Class 9 faces a heavier catch-up than one who has been in a Cambridge primary since Class 3.

Because the home addresses are in Sohna and the schools are in Gurugram, the tutor and the school teacher never meet. That makes the weekly lesson note we send after every class unusually important. It lets a parent see which topics came up, which errors repeated, and what to ask the school teacher on Monday. A tutor in the Sohna context is a bridge between a long school day and a short evening.

If your child is planning a move into an IB school, spend the summer before on the subject that changes most: mathematics, English written for analysis, or a science with practical work. We will build that into a short bridge course from your first trial lesson, matched to the specific school's schedule and your child's present board.

02

Haryana board, CBSE, IB or IGCSE for a Sohna student?

Haryana board, CBSE, IB and IGCSE can all work from a Sohna address, but they ask different things of a student. The question is rarely which board is better in the abstract. It is which fits the child's strengths, the family's plans after school, and the distance to the nearest good campus. The table below lines up the main differences as we see them from the tutoring desk.

Haryana board schools in Sohna are the default, strong on syllabus coverage and Hindi, and weaker on open-ended written answers. CBSE schools run a similar pattern with more English-medium instruction and wider access to JEE and NEET coaching in Gurugram. Both prepare students well for a route that goes through entrance tests.

IB and IGCSE schools around Sohna Road reward explanation and independent working. A student who enjoys writing out why a method works will do well; one who prefers recalling facts under time pressure sometimes finds the shift painful in the first year. We often meet students in both groups and match tutors to the gap.

03

What does IB and IGCSE tuition cost for Sohna students?

  • Subject and level: Higher Level sciences and Mathematics AA usually need more experienced tutors
  • Programme: a Class 6 MYP tutor and a DP Physics specialist are different hires
  • Frequency: one lesson a week versus three before mocks changes the plan, not the quality
  • Format: online usually removes the travel allowance a home visit needs
  • Timing: urgent requests close to an exam session limit the number of tutors who are free

The rate for IB and IGCSE tuition in Sohna depends on the subject and level, the tutor's experience, how many lessons a week you want, and whether the tutor visits the house or teaches online. We quote the exact rate in writing before you book, and we publish no flat price because a Higher Level Physics tutor and a Class 6 English tutor are not the same job.

For a Gurugram district visit, the tutor's travel adds time that has to be paid for in some form. For a Sohna address that cost is real: the road from the Gurugram side can take well over an hour at the wrong time. For that reason we only propose a home visit when a tutor already lives or works near the Sohna Road corridor, and we tell you if an online lesson is cheaper without losing quality.

Many families spend most sensibly by concentrating lessons in two moments: the first term of a new programme, and the eight weeks before mocks. A long gap in January is a good time to ease off. Weekly Mathematics or one science in the Diploma is a very common pattern, with a fortnightly check for English.

Ask any provider the same questions: Is the first lesson free? Are notes written after each class? Can you swap the tutor? Will the rate be given in writing? We answer yes to each, and the free trial lesson means you can judge fit before you spend money.

04

Home visit, online tutor, coaching centre or self-study in Sohna?

A Sohna family usually weighs four options: a tutor who visits, a live online tutor, a coaching centre in Gurugram, or study on your own with videos. All four can work. The right one depends on the subject, the child's temperament, and above all the evening road. The comparison below describes each honestly.

Coaching centres in Gurugram are built mostly for JEE, NEET and CBSE. Few offer IB Paper 3 practice or IGCSE Extended tier teaching, and the commute from Sohna would eat the best study hour of the day. Self-study with videos is cheap and flexible but gives no feedback on how an answer would be marked, which is the whole difficulty in IB and IGCSE.

Exam calendar and the Sohna school year

The IB holds its main exam sessions in May and November, and Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE sit in May to June and October to November. Schools in Haryana start the year in April, so the tutoring year is shaped by that spine with a few local interruptions.

Sohna summers are hot and dry, and daytime heat in May and June is real. Most families schedule study for early morning or after dark. Monsoon rain from July can slow the Sohna Road, and low spots flood. Winter mornings are cold and foggy, and from December to January the visibility sometimes slows the school bus. We shift sessions to online on those days.

Local fairs add their own pattern. The Gangasnan fair at the hot springs in November and the Teej fairs of July and August bring crowds and road closures, and Diwali lands during the November session for many candidates. We plan lesson blocks so the weeks around those events are light, and the heaviest revision sits earlier.

06

Where do IB and IGCSE students from Sohna go after school?

A Sohna IB or IGCSE student has more options than many parents expect, and tutoring is easier when the destination is clear. Many aim for universities abroad, others for Indian private universities, and some for central institutions in Delhi through the Common University Entrance Test.

For Indian degrees, the Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence for the IB Diploma and for IGCSE plus A Level paths. CUET-UG accepts IB and Cambridge students subject to the subject combinations each university asks for. Engineering through JEE Main and medicine through NEET-UG have eligibility rules about the subjects studied, so families should check the current NTA bulletin, not rely on a forum post.

Nearby private universities include KR Mangalam University on Sohna Road, the NorthCap University and Manav Rachna campuses in the wider region, and Ashoka University in Sonipat or Shiv Nadar University in Greater Noida for liberal arts and sciences. Many Diploma graduates apply to Delhi University's colleges and to universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia and Singapore.

Admission tests such as SAT, ACT and the BMAT-style tests are a separate set of skills, and our admissions test preparation is available for them. We will ask in the first conversation where the student wants to end up, because the target decides which subjects deserve the extra lessons.

07

How is IB Mathematics and the sciences taught to Sohna students?

IB Mathematics comes in two forms: Analysis and Approaches, which is algebra- and calculus-heavy, and Applications and Interpretation, which is statistics- and modelling-heavy. Choosing between them is the first decision. A student aiming for engineering usually picks Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, while one leaning to economics or psychology often does better with Applications.

Our tutors teach Paper 1 without a calculator as a separate skill, which needs short and frequent practice. Paper 2 and Paper 3 need calculator fluency and clean working. The internal assessment, an investigation, is something the student writes. A tutor can talk through what a strong exploration looks like, but never produce the work.

For Physics, Chemistry and Biology the pressure points are data-based questions, practical skills and the long answer. A Sohna student with a lab day but no help at home benefits from a tutor who can explain the method behind a titration or a free-fall experiment, then show how it would appear in an exam answer.

Higher Level students should expect a heavy load across the summer before Class 12. We suggest a rough plan of first finishing Paper 1 topics, then moving into Paper 2 problem types, then past papers in the fourth term. That order works because it builds understanding before speed.

08

Core or Extended, and how to choose IGCSE subjects

IGCSE subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are offered at Core or Extended level. Core limits the highest grade, while Extended leaves room for the top bands. A student who plans to take IB Maths AA or A Level Mathematics should aim for Extended, plus Additional Mathematics if the school offers it.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel differ in layout. Cambridge papers are numbered by component and tier, while Edexcel uses linear papers with a clear Paper 1 and Paper 2 structure. A tutor should know which board and which syllabus code the school follows before the first lesson. We ask for that in the trial booking.

For a Sohna family choosing subjects for Class 9, we suggest picking at least one strong science, a mathematics tier that stretches without breaking confidence, and a language that suits the child. English as a Second Language is common, and Hindi is a natural choice here.

Where we tutor

Sohna and the nearby areas we plan around

Sohna covers a long stretch from the old walled town to the Gurugram boundary. For each area we weigh the school catchment, the evening road and whether a tutor visit or an online lesson will actually run on time.

Sohna old town and Sohna city

Dense older neighbourhoods near the bus stand and the sulphur springs; most students here study Haryana board, and IB or IGCSE families usually commute out. Online lessons are the reliable choice.

Sohna Road, Sectors 47 to 49

The edge of the main Gurugram school belt, where several international campuses sit. This is the most practical area for home visits.

Badshahpur

A busy junction between the Sohna highway and the Southern Peripheral Road; useful meeting point for tutors who live on the Gurugram side.

Bhondsi

Institutional and township belt between Sohna and Gurugram, home to several families who relocated for the quieter surroundings.

Damdama

Lakeside area with weekend homes and farmhouses; school-age residents travel to Gurugram campuses, so evening online slots usually beat home visits.

Rojka Meo industrial area

Factory and warehouse belt on NH-248A where managers' families live in rented flats nearby. Weekend and online sessions suit shift patterns.

Tauru road side

South-west towards Nuh district; limited international schooling locally, so tutoring is almost entirely online.

Raisina and neighbouring villages

Village clusters and newer farm-housing plots, where families often have a long school run to Sohna Road campuses.

Vatika and Rosewood City belts

Gated townships on the Sohna Road corridor where home tuition is practical for evening sessions.

Ghata and the Aravali edge

Quiet foothill settlements; an unreliable evening road means the online option is often the better fit.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sohna

Sohna Road belt, Gurugram

These are the closest IB and international campuses for Sohna families, usually a 25 to 45 minute bus ride away. Sohna town itself has very few of its own, so local options are limited.

  • GD Goenka World School
  • Pathways World School
  • Heritage Xperiential Learning School

Golf Course Road and Aravali side

Some Bhondsi and Sohna Road families send children to campuses on the Aravali side of Gurugram for the Diploma years.

  • The Shri Ram School, Aravali
  • Scottish High International School
  • Lancers International School

Nearby: Faridabad and Palwal

Families on the eastern Sohna side occasionally look at schools in the Faridabad and Palwal corridor. We list no campuses here because we have not confirmed them.

We are an independent tutoring service. Every school named here is listed only because it is publicly known to offer the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE; none of them has any relationship with us, and the list is not a recommendation. Confirm admission details directly with each school.

    How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

    1. 01

      Send the details

Tell us the board and programme, the subject, the level, the exam session and your area of Sohna. A WhatsApp message to +91 7439 368 115 is enough.

    2. 02

      Get a matched shortlist

We choose tutors who have taught that exact syllabus and who can either reach your side of Sohna or teach online.

    3. 03

      Book a free trial lesson

The first lesson is free, so you can see how the tutor explains before committing to anything.

    4. 04

      Agree a plan in writing

Rate, weekly slots and format are confirmed in writing before the paid lessons begin.

    5. 05

      Learn, review, adjust

A note follows every lesson, and you can change the tutor or the format if the fit is wrong.

    Why families choose us

What Sohna parents tell us matters most

    Honest about what is possible

We say when a home visit will work on your road and when online will serve the student better.

    Exact syllabus knowledge

Tutors are chosen for the specific IB course, level or IGCSE code, not for a general subject label.

    Short notes after every class

Parents see what was covered, what went wrong and what comes next.

    Planned around the road

Slots are set for the Sohna Road traffic and the school bus, not for an idealised timetable.

    Coaching, not ghost-writing

Tutors never write internal assessments, essays or coursework for a student.

    Change without friction

If the match is wrong, we replace the tutor at no charge.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sohna: your questions answered

Do you offer IB tutors in Sohna who come to the house?+

Yes, in parts of Gurugram district including Sohna, when a tutor is available on your side of the Aravalis. Home visits depend on a tutor already working on the Sohna Road corridor, so we confirm availability before you commit. When none is free, the same tutor can teach live online and the syllabus stays identical.

Is online tuition as good as a home visit for IB Mathematics?+

For most students it is, because a shared digital whiteboard and photographed working let the tutor see every line. Younger children sometimes concentrate better with a tutor beside them, which is why we offer home visits in Gurugram district. We suggest a trial lesson in both formats if you are unsure, since both start free.

How much do IB and IGCSE tutors in Sohna charge?+

The rate depends on subject, level, tutor experience, weekly frequency and format, and we quote it in writing before you book. We do not publish a flat price. Higher Level sciences and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches usually involve more experienced tutors than a middle-school English slot. The first lesson is free, so you see the quality before spending.

Which schools near Sohna offer the IB Diploma?+

The nearest campuses sit on the Sohna Road belt in Gurugram, such as GD Goenka World School and Pathways World School, with others on the Aravali side. Sohna town has few of its own, so local options are limited. Always confirm the programmes and admissions with each school, since we have no connection with them.

Can you help with IGCSE Mathematics Extended from Sohna?+

Yes. Our tutors teach both Cambridge 0580 and Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Extended, including the algebra and trigonometry that decide the top grades. We ask which board and tier the school follows before the trial lesson, so the first session already uses the right past-paper style.

What time of day suits a Sohna student?+

Most lessons run on weekday evenings after the school bus returns, usually between six and eight, and on weekend mornings. Summer heat makes late afternoon poor for concentration, so many families choose after dinner. We also plan a lighter week around local fairs and Diwali.

Will the tutor write my child's IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors explain the assessment criteria, help a student plan, and give feedback on understanding, but they never write or rewrite the internal assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or any coursework. The school and the IB require the work to be the student's own.

Is there a free trial lesson?+

Yes, the first lesson is free and carries no obligation. It is a real lesson on a topic your child needs, with a written note afterwards. If the fit is wrong, we find another tutor at no charge before any paid class begins.

Can a student from Tauru or Damdama take lessons?+

Yes, online. Home visits do not reach every village, because they depend on a tutor being free nearby in Gurugram district. Online lessons need only a laptop and a steady connection, and students in Damdama, Tauru, Raisina and Rojka Meo already use them.

Do you cover IB PYP and MYP as well as the Diploma?+

Yes. Tutors teach PYP numeracy and literacy, MYP subjects against the criteria, and the full Diploma. A student can keep one tutor from MYP into DP, which saves a restart when the demands rise.

How do I choose between IB Maths AA and AI?+

Choose Analysis and Approaches if you may study engineering, mathematics or physics, and Applications and Interpretation if statistics and modelling suit your degree. Both exist at Standard and Higher Level. We can run a trial lesson on each course before the school subject deadline so that the decision rests on experience.

Are your tutors available for the November exam session?+

Yes, and we suggest booking by early August so the preparation window is long enough. November sessions overlap with Diwali and local fairs near Sohna, so we schedule a lighter week around the festivals and place past-paper practice earlier.

What boards of IGCSE do you support?+

Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel. Most Sohna Road international schools follow one of the two, and we match the tutor to the syllabus code. Tell us the code if you have it, for example 0620 for Chemistry or 4PH1 for Physics.

Does JEE or NEET remain possible for an IB or IGCSE student?+

Yes, within the eligibility rules published by the testing agency each year. IB students need the right subject combination and a recognised equivalence, so check the latest bulletin. A tutor helps with the content but cannot interpret admission rules on behalf of the agency.

    How do I start?+

Message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp or email support@ibgram.com with the programme, subject, level, school and your area of Sohna. We reply with a matched tutor and a trial lesson time, usually within the day.
