IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Shegaon

Looking for IB or IGCSE home tuition in Shegaon? Here the tutor joins a live video lesson while your child studies at home, so the teaching reaches the house without anyone travelling to it. The pilgrimage town of Shri Gajanan Maharaj runs Maharashtra state board and CBSE classrooms, which means an international curriculum is learnt from a specialist who has taught the paper, not from a school down the road.

  • Each match grows out of a subject code, a level and an exam session, never a loose request for an IB tutor
  • Teachers never turn up at a Shegaon front door, since in-person visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR; every class here is live online
  • A first lesson on your child's own topic costs nothing and comes before any plan
  • No tie to a school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson

IB & IGCSE in Shegaon

An international syllabus from a temple town on the Mumbai-Nagpur line

Shegaon is famous across Maharashtra for the Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, a temple trust that also runs an engineering college, a large garden and lake complex and health services. The town lies on the trunk railway between Mumbai and Nagpur, in cotton and soybean country roughly 45 km from Akola. Its classrooms follow the Maharashtra state board and CBSE, and we found no school confirmed for the IB or for Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE.

A household that wants one of those qualifications can shift the child to a bigger city, or keep the child here and bring a specialist in over a screen. Because the railway puts Akola, Amravati and Nagpur within reach, the first option often comes up later as a boarding move, and tutoring at home can begin years ahead of it.

Those who write to us include staff and doctors linked with the Sansthan's institutions, engineers, teachers, and cotton, soybean and retail traders who imagine a child studying outside Maharashtra or abroad. A handful have come home from Pune, Mumbai or the Gulf with a child already halfway through an international programme.

IB Gram stands apart from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named here. Tutors explain, correct and encourage; they never draft an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or piece of coursework that a student then hands in as personal work.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP and Diploma subjects at HL and SL
  • Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE at every tier
  • Live private video lessons on Indian Standard Time
  • A free first lesson and written notes after each class
  • Online only in Shegaon; in-person home tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Shegaon school years

No school in Shegaon teaches any of the four programmes, so each family comes at them from a different direction: a return from a city school, a head start before a planned transfer, or extra specialist help for a child enrolled elsewhere.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Young learners move through units of inquiry that ignore subject boundaries and close with a self-directed Exhibition. A tutor's part is reading stamina, steady number work and teaching a child to ask before answering.

A PYP child in Shegaon is typically one whose parents moved back from Pune or Nagpur, and lessons keep English growing beside the Marathi spoken at home.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Subjects are marked against published criteria, units join subjects together and a Personal Project ends the programme. Reflection and analysis count for more than repetition.

MYP students here most often need to convert textbook-style sentences into reasoned ones, and to plan a Personal Project with no coordinator in the building.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher and three Standard Level subjects sit beside Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessments fall due many weeks before the May sitting.

A Diploma candidate tied to Shegaon usually studies at a school in another city and adds a home tutor for weaker courses, or begins a study-abroad plan in Class 11.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two Diploma courses are paired with career-related study, a reflective project and a skills strand, and very few Indian schools run it.

Questions about CP seldom come from Shegaon. When they do, the tutoring centres on the two academic subjects and the reflective project.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Shegaon school timetables

Shegaon gets a single delivery format in three tempos. There is no local school to pair with, and IB Gram keeps in-person visits to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so every Shegaon class is live on video. How fast it moves depends on the distance to the exam.

Steady weekly classes

One fixed weekly slot with the same tutor, taking the course in sequence.

  • Board, code and tier decide the tutor
  • Real past papers marked on the shared screen
  • A single teacher who knows your child
  • Covers Class 1 to Class 12

Term plan with paperwork

The weekly pattern, with a written note after each class and a check-in every few weeks.

  • A brief summary after every session
  • Scheduled progress reviews
  • Good for parents on long shifts
  • Extra lessons slot in before mocks

Short exam sprint

A compressed spell of frequent sessions on timed papers and weak topics.

  • Timed work against the real mark scheme
  • Written feedback within days
  • Ganeshotsav and Diwali kept clear
  • Best begun six weeks before the first paper

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Shegaon

01

Are there IB and IGCSE schools and families in and around Shegaon?

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Shegaon
  • Nagpur and Amravati are the main campus choices
  • Enquirers include Sansthan-linked professionals, traders and returnees
  • Study at home can start before any school is chosen

Families, yes; schools, not as far as we can confirm. Classrooms in the town teach the Maharashtra board or CBSE, alongside a well-known engineering college and a lively tuition market. We found no Shegaon school authorised for the IB or registered as a Cambridge or Edexcel centre.

For a campus, eyes go to Amravati and Nagpur, and occasionally Pune or Mumbai. Nagpur has Vidarbha's broadest selection and shares the trunk line with Shegaon, which makes a boarding or relocation plan more realistic than it would be from many towns of similar size.

The enquiring households are a mixed lot: doctors and faculty linked to the Sansthan, engineers, cotton and soybean traders, teachers, bankers and returnees whose child already follows an international syllabus. Some want a qualification that survives a transfer, others simply want doors open to a university abroad.

Home study means the choice can wait. The syllabus starts today and follows the student to whichever school is picked next.

02

What really changes between Maharashtra board or CBSE and these international syllabuses?

  • Application outweighs plain recall
  • Command words can be taught
  • Coursework runs alongside the papers
  • The pattern can feel steadier once learnt

Content overlaps more than people fear; the way marks are earned does not. Maharashtra board and CBSE papers pay well for complete, correct recall. Cambridge, Edexcel and the IB still want accuracy but then put the student in an unfamiliar situation and ask which method applies, and why.

Written English is the next adjustment. A child who thinks in Marathi can grasp a principle of physics and still write a loose paragraph about it. State, describe, explain and evaluate each call for a different shape of answer, and the shapes can be practised directly.

Coursework is the third shift. IB Internal Assessments and IGCSE practical or coursework components are scored against published criteria and feed into the final grade, so the year contains long planned tasks beside the exams.

After a few months, many families report that the pattern feels steadier, since marks are spread across the year rather than hanging on one paper.

What should a family in Shegaon expect to pay for IB and IGCSE tutoring?

  • Level, subject, duration and scarcity shape the quote
  • No travel cost applies
  • A written figure comes before booking
  • Pausing or switching carries no penalty

Expect the quote to reflect programme and level, the subject, how long and how often lessons run, and how hard it is to find a tutor with current experience of the course. HL Physics at Diploma level is priced differently from Class 7 MYP Science for that reason. Rates are not printed on this page; you get a written figure before booking.

Kilometres play no role here, since each Shegaon class is a video call. Someone teaching from Pune and someone teaching from Bengaluru cost the family the same for the same lesson, so fit can be the only test.

A low hourly rate can conceal shallow teaching. Find out whether past papers are marked, whether notes arrive after each class, and whether this tutor has recently taught exactly this syllabus.

No term fee is collected in advance, and pausing or swapping tutors needs no explanation.

04

Online specialist, tuition class or neighbourhood teacher: which suits a Shegaon student?

  • Local batches aim at other exams
  • Nearby teachers rarely know the marking language
  • Self-study misses feedback on judgement tasks
  • Online specialists match the exact course

Tuition classes are everywhere in Shegaon and Khamgaon, but nearly all of them prepare for state board papers, MHT-CET, JEE or NEET. A student of IB Chemistry HL gets little from such a batch, because the question style and the order of topics do not match.

A teacher down the lane is good for routine and homework, particularly with small children. Almost none have taught IGCSE or the IB, since no school nearby uses either, so mark-scheme language is unfamiliar territory.

Going it alone is workable in a subject like IGCSE Mathematics, where past papers abound. It breaks down when an outside opinion is needed, such as picking a research question or structuring a long essay.

A specialist on video fills the gap, as long as the house can offer dependable electricity, a decent connection and a calm hour.

05

How do pilgrim seasons, summer heat and festivals shape study in Shegaon?

  • Pilgrim-season crowds can upset routines
  • April and May heat limits daytime study
  • State board papers overlap international preparation
  • Finish heavy teaching before April

Few towns keep a calendar like this one. The Prakat Din of Shri Gajanan Maharaj in the month of Magh and the Ashadhi Ekadashi weeks draw very large crowds, with Rishi Panchami and Ram Navami adding more. Trains and roads fill, and many households take part in seva.

Festivals follow through the year. Ganeshotsav, Diwali and Holi bring guests and travel. Summer is dry and fierce, with April and May often beyond 40 degrees, and the monsoon months bring heavier rain.

The boards do not move their calendars for any of this. The IB Diploma sits in May (results early July, with a smaller November round), Cambridge IGCSE in May-June and October-November, and Edexcel in January and May-June. Board papers in February and March take their own slice of the year.

A workable plan completes the heaviest teaching before April, saves the hottest weeks for early-morning practice and uses the long break after Diwali for a last push.

06

Where do Shegaon's IB and IGCSE students go next?

  • Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai and Aurangabad are common next steps
  • AIU equivalence, CUET-UG and entrance rules change by year
  • Overseas offers depend on predicted grades
  • Home-based candidates need a registered centre

Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai and Aurangabad draw many students for engineering, medicine, law and commerce, and a few look at the Sansthan's engineering college for a first degree. Others apply to the UK, Canada, Australia or the United States.

Indian universities often ask international-board students for an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate. CUET-UG admits IB and IGCSE candidates under each university's own rules. JEE Main, NEET and MHT-CET carry their own subject and level conditions, which are worth reading afresh each year.

Overseas offers rest on predicted grades, supplied by a registered school or centre in the autumn of the last year. A student working from home must line up such a centre well before that point.

Our part is narrow: deepen the subject and sharpen the technique. Admissions strategy belongs with counsellors.

07

Which IB Maths route and sciences fit a Shegaon student?

  • AA leans algebraic; AI leans towards data
  • Sciences reward careful setup and precise wording
  • Local crops, rainfall and water supply real datasets
  • A dated log protects the Internal Assessment

A student who loves manipulating expressions and is eyeing engineering will usually find Analysis and Approaches the natural fit, while one who prefers graphs, samples and real numbers, and is drifting towards commerce or life sciences, tends to enjoy Applications and Interpretation. Difficulty is not the dividing line.

In Physics the marks go to whoever sketches the situation before touching a calculator. Chemistry punishes anyone who coasts through organic topics, and Biology pays for the exact command word. With no school laboratory to borrow, every Investigation must be designed around experiments that are safe in a kitchen, a balcony or a borrowed lab bench.

Ideas are not scarce in this town. Cotton and soybean mandi rates, monsoon rainfall logs, the water clarity of the lake at Anand Sagar and daily pilgrim footfall could each carry a mathematics Exploration or an environmental study on real numbers.

Choose the IA topic in the first term and keep dated notes of every decision.

08

Picking IGCSE subjects and tiers while studying from home in Shegaon

  • Balance core subjects with future-linked ones
  • Extended tier for HL ambitions
  • Language papers provide dependable results
  • Confirm centre acceptance first

Nobody assigns subjects to a home candidate. That freedom is a gift and a trap, because no counsellor will notice a lopsided mix. Most balanced sets contain English, Mathematics, one science and two or three subjects pointing at the course the student wants later.

The Core or Extended question deserves the most time. Core holds the ceiling lower and suits a student who wants a dependable pass. Extended leaves the top grades reachable and feeds more naturally into the Diploma, which is why a child with HL ambitions in Mathematics or the sciences is normally placed there.

Two language papers, English as a Second Language and Hindi as a Second Language, are sensible additions for students in this part of Vidarbha.

Before choosing Cambridge or Edexcel, ask which nearby centre will take a private candidate.

09

How does a Shegaon family get started?

  • Brief by WhatsApp or email
  • Shortlist with reasons
  • Free trial lesson
  • Adjustable plan

Start with a short note covering board, subject, level, current marks, the sitting you are aiming at and the topic that keeps going wrong.

From that note we pick tutors who taught that exact course in the last year or two, and we ask how they handle coursework guidance.

Then comes the free lesson, where you can judge the clarity of explanation and whether your child relaxes.

Afterwards we write a month-one plan; if the fit is wrong, another tutor steps in.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Shegaon: your questions answered

Does any school in Shegaon teach the IB or IGCSE?+

Not one we could confirm. Shegaon classrooms appear to follow the Maharashtra board or CBSE, and the campuses we name are in Amravati and Nagpur. For that reason a Shegaon child who wants these syllabuses generally studies them at home with a tutor teaching live on video.

Does a tutor come to the house in Shegaon?+

No, because house visits are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A Shegaon lesson happens online: your child sits at home and the tutor appears on screen with a shared whiteboard. The attention stays private and one to one, with access to specialists well beyond the town.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Shegaon?+

No price list is published. The figure turns on programme, level, subject, session length and how scarce recent experience of the course is. Travel adds nothing. You receive a written quote before the free trial and before any booking, and nobody is asked to pay for a whole term up front.

My child studies in Marathi. Will English-language exams be a struggle?+

They need deliberate practice, but they are manageable. Tutors teach command words, short structured explanations and subject vocabulary, since many students grasp an idea yet lose marks writing it. We choose tutors who have worked with Marathi-speaking homes and move at the child's own speed.

Which IGCSE boards do you teach?+

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel, both. Cambridge students are matched by syllabus code and Core or Extended tier; Edexcel students by specification and Foundation or Higher tier. The tutor works only from your child's own board, because past papers and mark schemes cannot be swapped.

How do Shegaon students enter for the exams?+

Each candidate must be registered at an approved exam centre, which for Shegaon means a school or centre in a larger city. Private entry is possible for some Cambridge and Edexcel subjects, whereas the IB Diploma generally wants enrolment at an IB school. Ask about fees and closing dates early; we teach, we do not register.

Is the trial class really free?+

It is. Your child takes one complete lesson on real material from their syllabus, with nothing to pay and nothing to sign. A short written plan follows, and whether to continue, adjust or stop stays wholly with your family.

Will you write my child's IA or Extended Essay?+

Never. Tutors explain criteria, help a student reach a question that can be investigated and react honestly to drafts the student wrote. Supplying finished text to hand in is an integrity breach that can cancel results, so we turn it down in every subject and at every level.

Which IB Diploma subjects are offered?+

The list covers both maths courses, the three sciences, Economics, Business Management, English, Marathi, Hindi, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Systems and Societies and Theory of Knowledge coaching. Something else in mind? Ask, since the roster of tutors changes from term to term.

Can a state board or CBSE child switch to IGCSE or the IB?+

Many do. Mathematics and science content overlaps more than parents expect, and the true adjustment lies in written reasoning and coursework habits. Starting in Grade 9 or Class 11 gives comfortable room, although a shorter, sharper preparation can still work with regular practice.

Which exam months should we remember?+

For the IB Diploma, May is the main sitting and results land in early July; November is a second, smaller round. Cambridge IGCSE runs twice a year, May-June and October-November, while Edexcel offers January and May-June. The boards publish yearly timetables, worth checking after entry.

Do lessons fit around pilgrim seasons and festivals?+

They do, because we plan for them at the start. Sessions usually fall on weekday evenings or weekend mornings, with lighter weeks during Prakat Din, Ganeshotsav, Diwali and board exams. Since all teaching is online, squeezing in one more lesson before a mock is easy.

Do you teach younger children on PYP or MYP?+

We do. Primary sessions are short, built around reading, writing and number sense, with help on Exhibition research. Middle Years sessions cover criterion-based writing, scientific reasoning and the Personal Project. Both are paced to a child's attention span and school homework.

What happens if a power cut halts a lesson?+

We shift the class to another slot at no cost. The tutor may also mail notes or a practice set for offline use. Keeping a phone hotspot charged is a cheap safeguard, and a missed-lesson rule is agreed before the first paid session.

What if my child and the tutor do not click?+

We swap the tutor. Regular reviews are meant to expose a weak match early, and no contract holds you in place. Families may also pause lessons through board exams or a long festival stretch and pick up again later.

Is IB Gram connected to a school or exam board?+

No link exists. IB Gram is run independently of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and all schools, including those named here. To start, write to support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp, mentioning your child's subject, level and target sitting.
