IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Sanand

A Sanand parent searching for IB home tuition or IGCSE private tuition is usually solving a travel problem, not a teaching one: the school is somewhere on the far side of Sarkhej and nobody in town teaches the syllabus. One-to-one tuition from home over live video fixes that. Your child keeps the desk at home and the tutor arrives on the laptop, already fluent in the exact course code, whether that is Maths AA HL for a Diploma student in GIDC Phase II or Physics 0625 for a Grade 10 pupil whose family moved here for the auto plants.

  • Tutors matched to the syllabus code your child is actually entered for, not a generic subject name
  • Evening and Sunday slots that work around plant shift handovers and the long bus run to school
  • A short written note to parents after each lesson, in plain language
  • Rates agreed in writing before any paid session, and a free trial lesson first
  • A different tutor arranged, without an argument, if the match is not right

IB & IGCSE in Sanand

IB and IGCSE tutors in Sanand, taught one to one from home

Sanand sits about 25 kilometres west of Ahmedabad on State Highway 17, the road that carries on towards Viramgam and Kutch. For most of its history it was a taluka headquarters in Ahmedabad district with a bus stand, a railway station on the Viramgam line and farmland all around. That changed when the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation assembled land here on a large scale and Tata Motors rolled its first cars out of the Northcote Cattle Farm site in 2010. A second car complex followed, Hitachi Hi-Rel and a turbine plant arrived, Zydus set up at Moraiya inside the same taluka, and a semiconductor assembly and test facility has since been added to the list.

All of that brought a particular kind of household to Sanand: plant managers, quality engineers, supply-chain staff and the occasional overseas secondee, many of them posted here for three or four years from Pune, Chennai, Jamshedpur or abroad. Those are exactly the families who look for an international syllabus, because the next posting may not be in Gujarat and a GSEB transfer certificate does not travel well.

There is no IB or Cambridge campus in Sanand itself. Children are enrolled in Ahmedabad, on the Shilaj, Thaltej and SG Highway belt, and the school day already costs them an hour or more each way. Adding a drive to a coaching class after that is not reasonable. So tuition here is online: a live private lesson with one tutor, a shared whiteboard and the real past papers on screen, taken at the child's own desk.

That is the whole of what this page describes. IB Gram arranges IB and IGCSE tutors in Sanand on that basis, across PYP, MYP, the Diploma Programme, the Career-related Programme and both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE. Tutors are based in India and teach in Indian Standard Time, which is why a 7.30 pm slot on a weekday is straightforward rather than a favour.

One point of orientation before anything else. Sanand is in Ahmedabad district, west of Sarkhej. Anand is a different city about 70 kilometres to the south-east, in its own district, and it has its own page on this site. The two get mixed up constantly in search; if you are reading this from the GIDC belt or from one of the taluka villages, you are in the right place.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Sanand school years

The four IB programmes ask for different things, and a Sanand family is usually dealing with only one of them at a time. Here is what each involves and the kind of request that tends to come from this taluka.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised around transdisciplinary units rather than separate textbooks, and children are expected to ask questions, record their thinking and present it. There are no board exams; the Exhibition closes the programme.

PYP requests from Sanand usually come after a mid-year transfer, when a child who was reading from a prescribed Gujarati or English medium textbook suddenly has to drive an inquiry unit and needs an adult to sit with them while they learn how.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Every subject is marked against four criteria, from knowing and understanding through to reflecting, and the Personal Project rounds off the final year. Marks come from tasks across the year, not one December paper.

In Sanand the MYP years are when parents notice the gap first: a child who could score well by learning answers finds that Criterion D asks them to evaluate, and mathematics investigations ask for reasoning on paper.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects at Higher or Standard Level, with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS alongside. Internal assessments carry real weight and the main written papers sit in May for schools in this hemisphere.

A Diploma student from Sanand is almost always commuting into Ahmedabad or boarding, so weekday lessons here start late and the heavy work shifts to Sunday morning.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses are combined with a career-related study, a reflective project, a language element and a personal and professional skills course. Very few schools in India run it.

Where a Sanand student is on CP, we tutor the Diploma courses inside it and leave the career-related study to the school and its partner; engineering and business-linked pathways are the ones we see.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A town with no IB classroom of its own can leave a child as the only person for miles taking a particular course, which makes subject-level matching the whole job. Tell us the course, the level and the session, and the trial lesson is with a tutor who teaches that course already.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Functions, calculus, proof and trigonometry, with HL candidates working on Paper 3 investigations and starting the exploration well before it is due.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Modelling, statistics and the graphic display calculator, including the habit of writing a conclusion a reader can follow.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, fields, thermal physics and circuits, with uncertainty treatment and a workable plan for the scientific investigation.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Bonding, energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms, taught with the data booklet open so it stops being a surprise in the exam hall.

IB Biology

HL / SL

From molecular biology to ecology, with close attention to command terms, because the difference between outline and explain is worth marks.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams drawn properly, real-world examples that are actually cited, and the HL quantitative paper practised rather than read about.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Tools applied to a named firm, which suits students whose parents run an ancillary unit or a trading business and who already think in costs.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Unseen analysis, the comparative essay and rehearsal for the individual oral, useful for pupils who came from a Gujarati-medium primary.

IB English B

HL / SL

Text types, productive writing and spoken fluency for students whose schooling in English started late.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and the programming that carries the internal assessment, with code written live rather than copied.

IB Design Technology

HL / SL

The design cycle, materials and manufacturing, a natural fit in a town where parents can explain a production line over dinner.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems diagrams, energy and water, with local reference points such as groundwater use around Sanand and the wetland at Nalsarovar.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Urban change, freshwater and resource consumption, plus how to design fieldwork that can actually be carried out.

IB History

HL / SL

Source handling and arguments built on chosen evidence rather than everything the student remembers.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Study evaluation and essay structure, the two things that separate a 4 from a 6 in this subject.

IB Hindi B and Gujarati A

HL / SL

Written and oral support for the language a Sanand household speaks at home, where the school offers it.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion coaching for the exhibition and the essay. The thinking is prompted; the writing stays the student's own.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

At IGCSE the syllabus code matters more than the subject title, because Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel set different papers and the school decides which tier a candidate is entered for. Tell us the code on the timetable and the tutor follows that specification.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Number, algebra, mensuration and statistics, with Extended candidates given extra work on the paper that allows no calculator.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Calculus, functions, series and proof, the cleanest bridge available into IB Maths AA at Higher Level.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Forces, energy, electricity and waves, including the alternative to practical paper that trips up students who have never written a method.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Moles, rates, electrolysis and qualitative analysis, drilled until the ion tests are recalled without hesitation.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, transport, inheritance and ecosystems, with terminology used exactly as the mark scheme expects.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Definitions, diagrams and short evaluative answers that reach a judgement instead of listing both sides.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Reading a case quickly and applying theory to that business, not to a textbook example.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, Python and the theory paper, taught by writing programs rather than memorising syntax tables.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Directed writing, composition and the reading paper, with extra time on register for students whose earlier schooling was in Gujarati.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

All four skills, aimed at pupils entered for the second-language route after a mid-stream switch.

IGCSE Accounting 0452

Grade 9-10

Ledgers, final accounts, control accounts and ratios, immediately familiar to children from business households.

IGCSE Hindi or Gujarati as a Second Language

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing and speaking support where a Sanand school or exam centre enters pupils for a language paper.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Sanand school timetables

The teaching format is the same in each case, live and private over video. What differs is the shape of the commitment, and in Sanand that choice is usually driven by the shift roster at home and how far away the exam is.

A steady weekly slot through the year

One subject, one tutor, the same hour every week, with the syllabus mapped out so nothing is left to the last term. This is what most Sanand families settle into once the trial goes well.

  • The tutor stays with the student across the full course
  • Suits IB DP, MYP and both IGCSE boards
  • Working shown live on a shared board, not narrated over slides
  • Rescheduled rather than lost when a shift or a school trip clashes

A compressed block before a paper

A heavier timetable for four to eight weeks ahead of a session, spent almost entirely on timed papers, mark schemes and the two or three topics still costing marks.

  • Whole papers written to time, then marked line by line with the student
  • Command terms taught as a skill in their own right
  • Short tasks set between sessions, checked at the start of the next
  • Built around the May and November IB sessions and the June and November IGCSE ones

Online home tuition with notes for parents

The same private video lesson plus a short written recap afterwards, and a review conversation every few weeks, so a parent on a night shift can still see what is happening.

  • Tutors do not visit homes in Sanand; in-person home tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A plain-language note after every class, no jargon
  • A tutor change arranged if the fit is wrong
  • The rate settled in writing before the first paid lesson

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sanand

01

Who studies IB or IGCSE from Sanand, and where are they enrolled?

  • Transferred plant and project staff, here on a fixed-term posting
  • Land-owning Sanand families choosing an international course for the first time
  • Returning overseas families landing on IGCSE as the familiar option
  • Private IGCSE candidates with no local school running the syllabus

Four kinds of household, mostly. The largest group is transferred industrial staff: engineers and managers brought in for the car plants, the turbine and power electronics units, the pharmaceutical site at Moraiya and the semiconductor assembly project. A posting lasts a few years, the next one may be in Pune or Chennai or overseas, and an international qualification is the one that moves with the family without a painful re-registration.

The second group is local and newly wealthy. Land in Bol, Khoda, Godhavi and along the Bavla road has changed hands at values nobody would have predicted twenty years ago, and some of those families are now choosing a different kind of schooling for the next generation than the Gujarati-medium school they attended themselves.

Third are returning non-resident Indian families, often with Gujarat roots and children who studied a British or American curriculum abroad. For them IGCSE is the least disruptive landing, because the assessment style is already familiar. Fourth, and smallest, are professional households in the older town and at Changodar who simply want an English-medium course with external papers.

Enrolment nearly always means Ahmedabad. The western belt beyond Sarkhej, towards Shilaj, Thaltej and the SG Highway, is where the IB and Cambridge campuses sit, and a Sanand child on that route is on a bus for well over an hour each way. A smaller number board, in Vadodara or further afield. A handful never enrol at all and sit IGCSE as private candidates through an authorised centre, in which case the tutor is doing the teaching, not the topping up.

That geography is the reason this page exists. Whatever the enrolment route, the extra teaching cannot sensibly involve another journey, so IB and IGCSE tutors in Sanand work over video into the family's own house.

02

GSEB and CBSE run Sanand's classrooms, so what actually changes on a switch?

Almost every school in Sanand taluka is affiliated to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, with CBSE schools on the Changodar and Shela side taking the rest. GSEB sets Standard 10 and Standard 12 public examinations, the Standard 12 science stream feeds Gujarat's engineering and medical admissions through the state counselling process, and the whole system rewards a student who can reproduce a prescribed syllabus accurately under time pressure.

IB and IGCSE are not harder in the abstract; they are weighted differently. IGCSE still ends in external written papers, which feels recognisable, but it asks for method, explanation and data handling instead of recall, and each subject is a separate certificate rather than part of one aggregate. IB goes further: marks come from internal assessments and oral work across two years, Theory of Knowledge asks a student to argue about knowledge itself, and the Extended Essay demands four thousand words of independent research.

In practice the first six weeks after a switch are about writing, not content. A child who has always answered in three lines must learn to justify a claim, cite a source and evaluate a limitation. That is a teachable skill and it is most of what early tuition does.

The second adjustment is the calendar. GSEB and CBSE students live towards one terminal examination; an IB student has deadlines all year, and missing an internal assessment window is far more expensive than a weak unit test. Parents used to the first rhythm often discover the second only when a deadline is already close.

The table below sets the four routes side by side on the points Sanand families ask about, without claiming any of them is superior.

Boards available to a Sanand family, compared on practical points
RouteWhere it is taught near SanandHow it is assessedWhat a switching student finds hardest
GSEB (Gujarat board)Throughout Sanand town and the taluka villagesStandard 10 and 12 public papers, syllabus prescribed in detailNot applicable; this is the starting point for most local pupils
CBSEChangodar, Shela and the Ahmedabad fringeClass 10 and 12 board papers, with internal marksLess of a jump than IB, but the English load rises sharply
Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSEAhmedabad western belt, or as a private candidateExternal papers per subject, Core or Extended tieringWriting a method, handling data, and the alternative to practical paper
IB Diploma ProgrammeAhmedabad; boarding in Vadodara or beyondInternal assessments, orals and May written papers, plus TOK, EE and CASContinuous deadlines, independent research and extended argument
03

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Sanand, and what moves the price?

  • Programme and level: HL sciences and Maths AA HL are the most specialised
  • Subject scarcity: Design Technology and Computer Science tutors are fewer
  • Intensity: a year-long weekly slot against a pre-exam block
  • Starting point: teaching a syllabus from zero against clearing up two topics
  • No travel cost and no fuel, because every lesson is online

We do not publish a rate, because an honest one depends on four things and quoting a single number would mean overcharging most families. What we do instead is quote in writing after the free trial, once the tutor has seen the work, and that figure does not move afterwards without your agreement.

The first driver is the programme and level. IB Higher Level sciences and Maths AA HL sit at the top, because the pool of tutors who can teach Paper 3 and supervise an exploration properly is small. Standard Level subjects sit below that, MYP and IGCSE below again, and PYP support is the most straightforward of all.

The second is the subject itself. A Diploma Economics or Business Management tutor is easier to find than a Design Technology or Computer Science tutor, and scarcity shows up in the rate. The third is intensity: a single weekly hour through the year is priced differently from a compressed block of four lessons a week in the eight weeks before a May session, when tutor availability is tightest across the whole country.

The fourth is what the work actually involves. A student who needs the syllabus taught from scratch, because no school nearby offers it, takes more preparation than one who attends an Ahmedabad IB class daily and wants two topics cleared up. Private IGCSE candidates fall into the first category almost by definition.

Worth comparing honestly against what a Sanand family already spends. A local coaching class costs less per hour, but it teaches GSEB or CBSE content, not Cambridge or IB, and the trip to Changodar or into the city eats an hour of the evening. Set against that, an online lesson at home with a tutor who knows the course tends to look reasonable even at a higher hourly figure.

04

Online tuition, a coaching class at Changodar, a private home tutor or self-study?

For an IB or IGCSE student in Sanand, online one-to-one tuition is the only one of these four that reliably matches the syllabus, which is the uncomfortable short answer. The other three each fail on a specific point rather than being bad in general.

A coaching class in Sanand town or at Changodar is a real institution with real teachers, and for Standard 10 GSEB mathematics it may be the best thing available locally. It is not set up for Cambridge Physics 0625 or IB Chemistry HL. The batch follows a state or CBSE schedule, the material is not the Cambridge specification, and nobody there is marking against IB criteria.

A private home tutor who travels to the house sounds ideal and is the hardest thing to arrange here. The number of people living within reach of Sanand who can teach a Higher Level IB science is very small, and any of them can fill their diary in Ahmedabad without driving 25 kilometres each way. Families who do find someone often end up with a graduate teaching themselves the syllabus a week ahead of the student. For completeness: our own tutors do not travel to Sanand at all, since in-person home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Self-study with the subject guide, past papers and video lectures genuinely works for some students, usually disciplined ones in Grade 11 and 12 who already know how the marks are earned. Where it breaks down is feedback. Nobody tells them that their exploration has no real mathematics in it, or that their Biology answers describe when the question says explain, until a grade comes back.

The comparison below is the one we would give a parent on the phone, including the cases where we are not the answer.

Four ways to get IB or IGCSE support in Sanand
OptionSyllabus matchTravel and time costWhere it breaks down
Online one-to-one tuitionMatched to the exact course and syllabus codeNone; the lesson happens at the child's deskNeeds a quiet room and a working connection at a fixed hour
Local coaching classGSEB and CBSE content, not Cambridge or IBTravel into town or to Changodar, plus batch timingsNo criteria-based marking and no past papers for the right board
Private tutor travelling to the houseDepends entirely on the individual, rarely verifiableHighest; distance limits who will come at allThin supply of IB HL specialists willing to travel to Sanand
Self-study from guides and past papersAs good as the student's own reading of the guideNone, but needs real self-disciplineNo feedback, so errors in style and method go unnoticed
05

IB Maths AA or AI, and the sciences, for a student coming from the Gujarat board

  • AA for engineering, physics and mathematics-heavy degrees; AI for business, social sciences and design
  • Higher Level is specified by some universities, so check the course page before choosing
  • Internal assessments start in the first year, not after the mock exams
  • Command terms are taught explicitly, because they decide how much of the mark scheme an answer reaches

The Maths choice is the one that causes most trouble, and in Sanand it is often made with half the information. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic route, heavy on calculus, proof and trigonometric manipulation, and Higher Level adds a Paper 3 investigation that rewards students who are comfortable being lost for twenty minutes. Applications and Interpretation is the modelling route, with more statistics, more technology and more interpretation in words.

A student from a GSEB or CBSE science stream usually finds the content of AA familiar and the presentation unfamiliar: the algebra has been done before, but nobody previously asked for a written justification of each step or a comment on whether a model is reasonable. A student heading towards economics, business, psychology or design is often better served by AI, where the statistics are genuinely useful later. Engineering and physics pathways generally want AA, and some universities ask for Higher Level specifically.

In the sciences the pattern repeats. Content knowledge from an Indian board is typically strong. What is missing is the apparatus of the IB laboratory: uncertainty, significant figures, a hypothesis that can actually be tested with equipment a school owns, and a research question narrow enough to finish. The scientific investigation is where that becomes visible, and it is worth a substantial share of the final grade.

Practically, early tuition on a science course here splits into three parts. One, cover the content properly against the subject guide rather than a borrowed textbook. Two, teach command terms as vocabulary, so state, describe, explain, compare and evaluate each produce a different answer. Three, get the internal assessment started early, with the student choosing the question and the tutor stress-testing it.

Sanand gives these subjects an unusual advantage. A child whose parent runs a paint shop, an engine line or a quality lab has seen tolerance, calibration and process control at close range, and that makes uncertainty and systematic error concrete rather than abstract. Tutors use that where it fits, and the Nalsarovar wetland to the west is a ready example for the environmental courses.

06

IGCSE Core or Extended, and choosing subjects from a town with no IGCSE school

Cambridge IGCSE sets many subjects at two tiers. Core covers a reduced syllabus with grades available from C down to G, while Extended covers the full syllabus and reaches A star. The school decides the entry, usually on evidence from a year of classwork, and the honest position is that an Extended entry a student cannot sustain does more damage than a Core entry they handle well.

For a Sanand family the complication is that the decision is being made by a school thirty kilometres away, on the basis of work the parents do not see in detail. Tuition helps here in a specific way: a tutor working through past paper questions at both tiers can tell you plainly where the student currently sits, early enough for the conversation with the school to be useful.

Subject choice has local logic too. Mathematics, English, and a sensible pair or trio of sciences are the spine. Additional Mathematics 0606 is worth considering for anyone heading towards Maths AA HL, because it does the hard preparatory work two years early. Accounting and Business Studies make immediate sense for children from business and ancillary-unit families, who already hear the vocabulary at home. Computer Science suits students around the semiconductor and electronics employers, though it needs a tutor who makes them write code.

Language choices deserve care. English First Language 0500 is the stronger certificate but assumes real fluency, and a student whose primary schooling was Gujarati-medium may be better entered for English as a Second Language 0510 in Grade 9 and moved up later. Where a school offers Hindi or Gujarati as a second language, taking it is usually the easy mark it appears to be.

Private candidates face one extra task: finding and registering at an authorised centre, in Ahmedabad in practice, and working to its deadlines. The centre sets the registration window and the practical arrangements, so that conversation should happen a full session ahead, not in the month before papers.

When do the exams fall, and how does Sanand's year work around them?

The IB Diploma has two sessions, May and November, and schools in India almost always sit the May one, with results in early July and the Extended Essay and internal assessment deadlines strung through the preceding twelve months. Cambridge IGCSE runs June and November series, and Pearson Edexcel has its own January, May and June windows. Which combination applies to your child depends on the school, not on the town.

Around those dates, Sanand has its own rhythm. Navratri in Sharad is the point at which serious study stops for most of Gujarat, and nine nights of garba is not a cultural footnote but a genuine scheduling fact. Diwali and the new year that follows it close everything again, Uttarayan in mid-January takes a weekend out for kite flying, and Holi marks the start of the final run towards May papers.

Weather bites at both ends. April and May heat in this part of Gujarat makes afternoons unproductive, which pushes lessons to early morning or late evening in exactly the weeks before IB written papers. The south-west monsoon arriving in late June can disrupt the school run on the Sarkhej and Bavla roads and occasionally the power supply, which is a reason to keep a mobile hotspot available rather than a reason to cancel.

The shift roster is the last variable and the most local. In households where a parent rotates through general, second and night shifts at a plant, the reliable slot is often a fixed Sunday morning plus one late weekday evening. We would rather set that pattern honestly at the start than book 6 pm on a Tuesday and lose half the lessons.

The table is the planning sheet we actually use with families here.

Where do Sanand students go after IB or IGCSE?

Three directions, and families here usually have one firmly in mind before Grade 11. The first is an Indian university. An IB Diploma or a Cambridge qualification is accepted by Indian institutions once the Association of Indian Universities issues an equivalence certificate, which is a paperwork exercise but one with a timetable, so it is worth starting as soon as results are out rather than during admission week.

Central university admissions run through CUET-UG, and IB and IGCSE students sit it on the same terms as everyone else. The adjustment is real: CUET is a multiple-choice paper on a largely NCERT-shaped syllabus, and a student who has spent two years writing extended arguments needs deliberate practice at speed and at recall. The same is true, more sharply, for JEE Main and NEET, where eligibility for IB and Cambridge students is generally fine but the preparation style has almost nothing in common with IB coursework.

The second direction is Gujarat's own professional stream, through state counselling for engineering and pharmacy seats, which is the default for a large share of science students in Ahmedabad district. Families should check the current eligibility and equivalence rules for an international board each year, because the detail does change, and the admission committee is the authority, not a tutor.

The third is study abroad, and in Sanand it is a serious option rather than an aspiration, because the parent generation here is frequently working inside multinational companies and has seen the system from the inside. IB Diploma points map directly onto offers from universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore and much of Europe, and IGCSE grades matter for English-language and prerequisite requirements. An IGCSE and then an A Level or Diploma route often carries lower overall cost than a private Indian engineering seat, which is a calculation we hear made out loud.

None of this is admission advice and we do not offer it. What tuition does is make sure the grades, the internal assessments and the subject combination do not quietly close a door the family wanted open, and that happens by choosing subjects in Grade 9 and 10 with the destination in view.

09

How does an online lesson actually run in a Sanand house?

  • A laptop, headphones and a quiet room with a door are enough
  • Shared whiteboard work and past papers, not pre-recorded video
  • A hotspot as monsoon backup; lessons lost to an outage are rescheduled
  • A two-minute written note to parents after every class

Plainly, and with less equipment than people expect. A laptop or tablet, a pair of headphones and a table in a room where a door closes. The tutor and the student share a digital whiteboard, so algebra, free body diagrams, titration calculations and essay plans are built up stroke by stroke while both of them talk, which is closer to a tutor sitting beside the child than to watching a recorded lecture.

Past papers are the working material. A question comes up on screen, the student attempts it while the tutor watches the working rather than waiting for an answer, and the mark scheme is opened afterwards so the student sees exactly where marks were available. Over a term that changes how a student writes, which is most of what a grade improvement consists of.

The practical risks here are power and bandwidth, and both are manageable. Fixed broadband in Sanand town, the GIDC estates and the Shela side is generally sound, and a mobile hotspot on a second network is a sensible backup during the monsoon. If a lesson is genuinely lost to an outage, it is rescheduled, not charged. We would rather say that than pretend the infrastructure is flawless.

After each lesson a short note goes to the parent: what was covered, what was set, and what is not yet secure. In households where a parent works a rotating shift, that note is often the only way the absent parent follows the term, so it is written to be read in two minutes by someone who does not teach the subject.

One more thing that matters more than the technology. The same tutor stays with the student, so nobody starts again from scratch each month, and if the fit is wrong, you say so and we change the tutor. That is the arrangement, and it applies from the first trial lesson onwards for every family booking IB and IGCSE tutors in Sanand.

Where we tutor

Sanand localities and taluka villages our online tutors teach into

Lessons reach every one of these places the same way, over video, so the notes below are about context rather than coverage: what the school run looks like from there, who lives in that pocket and what time of evening a lesson can realistically start.

Sanand town centre and Station Road

The old taluka town around the GSRTC bus stand and the railway station on the Viramgam line, with long-settled trading and professional families whose children are often the first in the family to sit an international paper.

Sanand GIDC Phase I

The first industrial estate, close to town. Staff housing here is a mix of company accommodation and rented flats, and lesson times move with the shift roster.

Sanand GIDC Phase II and the Bol and Khoda land

The larger estate on land taken in the villages of Bol and Khoda, where the car plants sit. Families posted in from other states are concentrated here and tend to want continuity more than anything else.

Changodar

A dense industrial and residential strip on the Sarkhej to Bavla highway, closer to Ahmedabad than Sanand town, with a cluster of local coaching classes that teach GSEB and CBSE but not IB or IGCSE.

Moraiya

A pharmaceutical and manufacturing pocket inside Sanand taluka. Scientist and technician households here are comfortable with lab vocabulary, which shows in how their children handle the sciences.

Chharodi and the Sanand to Gandhinagar road

The northern side of the taluka, where newer schemes and farmhouses have come up. Some families here choose a school on the Gandhinagar axis instead of Ahmedabad.

Shela and Sanathal

The Ahmedabad-facing edge of Sanand taluka, almost continuous with Bopal now. School buses are shortest from here, so a weekday lesson can start earlier than in the villages.

Godhavi and Telav

Farming villages that have turned partly residential as the city has spread west. Internet is usually fine; what varies is a quiet room, which matters more than bandwidth.

Nidhrad and the rail side

The belt where a goods and logistics hub has been planned around the existing line. Households here are often employed in transport and warehousing rather than on the assembly floor.

Bavla road and the Dholera direction

The south-western approach, looking towards the investment region. Families on this side sometimes keep a second base in Ahmedabad during exam months to shorten the journey.

Vasna and the Sarkhej approach

The stretch where Sanand taluka meets the city's outer ring. Traffic on this road at 6 pm is the single biggest reason parents here ask for lessons after 7.30 pm.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sanand

Sanand taluka itself: nothing to name

We could not confirm a school inside Sanand or its taluka that offers the IB or Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, and we will not list one we cannot verify. Schools here follow the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or CBSE, which is exactly why online tuition is how an international course gets taught in this town.

    Nearby: Ahmedabad western belt

Roughly 25 to 35 kilometres along State Highway 17 and then the SG Highway corridor. This is where almost every IB and IGCSE child from Sanand is actually enrolled, and the campuses below are the ones families here mention. Confirm the current programme and year groups with each school directly.

    • Calorx Olive International School
    • Ahmedabad International School
    • Mahatma Gandhi International School
    • The Riverside School
    • Fountainhead School
    • Eklavya School

    Nearby: Kalol, Gandhinagar district

North of Sanand past Chharodi, a Cambridge-curriculum option that occasionally works for households on that side of the taluka. The drive is long in the morning peak.

    • Swayam Cambridge International School, Kalol

    Nearby: Vadodara

About 135 kilometres down the expressway, with an established IB presence. From Sanand this realistically means boarding or a family move rather than a commute, and a few relocating households do choose it.

    • Navrachana International School, Vadodara

IB Gram is an independent tutoring service. We are not connected to, partnered with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization, Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson, or any of the schools listed above. Those names appear only so a Sanand family can see where an international curriculum is taught within reach, and every detail should be checked with the school itself.

    How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

    1. 01

Tell us the course, not just the subject

Message support@ibgram.com or +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the programme, the subject, the level and the exam session. IB Chemistry HL for May 2027 is useful; chemistry tuition is not. If your child is in an Ahmedabad school, the school name and grade help us judge the pace they are being taught at.

    2. 02

A short conversation about where the marks are going

We ask what the last report said, which topics feel unsafe and whether an internal assessment is already underway. For a private IGCSE candidate from Sanand we also check the exam centre and the registration window, because that deadline sits outside anyone's control and comes earlier than families expect.

    3. 03

A free trial lesson with the matched tutor

One full lesson at no cost, with the tutor who would actually teach the course. The student works on a real question from the right board, and you both see whether the teaching style lands. If it does not, say so and we match again rather than defending the first choice.

    4. 04

Slot, plan and rate agreed in writing

After the trial we set the weekly time around the school run and the shift roster, agree the sequence of topics to the next session, and confirm the rate in writing. Nothing is charged before that, and the figure does not change later without your agreement.

    5. 05

Lessons, notes and a review every few weeks

Teaching settles into the agreed slot, a short note follows each class, and every month or so we step back and look at whether the plan is still right. Around Navratri and Diwali we pause or thin out the timetable by arrangement instead of billing for lessons nobody in Gujarat is going to attend.

    Why families choose us

What Sanand parents tell us matters most

    The syllabus code, matched exactly

A tutor is assigned to Physics 0625 or Maths AA HL, not to physics or mathematics in general. For a Sanand student who may be the only person in the taluka taking that course, this is the difference between being taught and being supervised.

    Honest about being online

No tutor travels to Sanand, and we say that before you ask. In-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What you get here is a live private lesson at home over video, which for a town 25 kilometres beyond Sarkhej is the arrangement that actually works.

    Timings built for shift households

Late weekday evenings after a bus run of an hour each way, and Sunday mornings when a rotating shift allows it. Tutors teach on Indian Standard Time from India, so these slots are ordinary rather than a concession.

Parents can follow the term without teaching it

A short written recap after each lesson and a periodic review conversation, phrased for a parent who works in production planning rather than in education. Where one parent is on nights, the note keeps them in the loop.

    Coaching, not ghost-writing

Tutors help a student plan, structure and improve an internal assessment, an Extended Essay or a TOK exhibition. They do not write any part of it. That line is not negotiable, because the alternative puts a child's whole diploma at risk.

Easy to leave and easy to change

A free trial first, a rate in writing, no package you are locked into, and a different tutor arranged if the match is wrong. Families posted to Sanand for a fixed term need an arrangement that can flex when the posting does.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sanand: your questions answered

Do your tutors come to our home in Sanand?+

No. Every lesson for a Sanand family is online, taken on a laptop at home with the tutor on screen. In-person home tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, and we would rather be direct about that than take a booking you would be disappointed by. For a town this far west of Ahmedabad the online format is also the more practical one: no tutor has to be found who will drive out, and the lesson is not lost to traffic on the Sarkhej road.

Is there any IB or IGCSE school in Sanand itself?+

Not one we can confirm, and we will not name a school we have not verified. Schools in Sanand town and across the taluka follow the Gujarat board or CBSE. The IB and Cambridge campuses that Sanand children attend are on Ahmedabad's western belt, roughly 25 to 35 kilometres away past Sarkhej. A few families board in Vadodara. Check the current programme directly with any school, because year groups and authorisations change.

Is this page about Sanand or Anand? They look almost the same.+

This page is about Sanand in Ahmedabad district, the taluka town on State Highway 17 west of Sarkhej, known for its GIDC estates and car plants. Anand is a separate city about 70 kilometres to the south-east, in Anand district, and it has its own page on this site. The two names are confused constantly in search results. If you live near the GIDC estates, Changodar, Bol, Khoda or Godhavi, you are reading the right page.

My child studies at an IB school in Ahmedabad but we live in Sanand. Does that work?+

Yes, and it is the most common situation we see here. The lesson happens at your house after the bus gets back, so the day does not include a second journey. Because tutors teach from India on Indian Standard Time, a 7.30 pm or 8 pm start on a weekday is normal. Families on the Shela and Sanathal side, where the school run is shorter, often take an earlier slot instead.

What does IB tuition cost in Sanand?+

We quote in writing after the free trial rather than publishing a rate, because four things change the figure: the programme and level, how scarce that subject is, whether you want a weekly hour or an intensive block before a session, and whether the syllabus has to be taught from scratch. IB Higher Level sciences and Maths AA HL cost more than IGCSE or MYP work. Once agreed, the rate does not move without your consent, and there is no travel charge because nothing involves travel.

Can you teach IGCSE if my child is a private candidate with no school?+

Yes, and this is a real route from Sanand given that no local school runs the syllabus. In that case the tutor is doing the teaching, not supplementing it, so the plan covers the full specification against the subject guide rather than just exam practice. You will also need to register at an authorised exam centre, in Ahmedabad in practice, and its deadlines fall well before the session. Start that conversation with the centre a full series ahead.

Which IB Maths course should my child take, AA or AI?+

It depends on the degree, not on which looks easier. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic, calculus-heavy route and is usually expected for engineering, physics and mathematics, sometimes at Higher Level specifically. Applications and Interpretation leans on statistics, modelling and technology, and serves business, psychology, design and most social sciences well. Check the entry requirements of two or three target universities before deciding, and tell us the choice so the tutor matches it.

Do you help with the Extended Essay, internal assessments and TOK?+

We coach them and we do not write them. A tutor helps narrow a research question to something finishable, checks that the method will produce usable data, reads a draft and says where the argument is thin or the analysis is missing. The student writes every word. That boundary protects the diploma: IB academic honesty rules treat work that is not the candidate's own very seriously, and no mark is worth that risk.

Which IGCSE boards do you cover?+

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, following whichever specification your child's school has entered them for. The codes matter, because the two boards split topics and set papers differently, so Cambridge Chemistry 0620 and the Edexcel equivalent are not interchangeable in practice. Send us the code from the school timetable or the entry slip and the tutor works from that specification, including the correct tier.

How do you handle Navratri, Diwali and Uttarayan?+

By planning around them rather than pretending they do not happen. In Gujarat the nine nights of Navratri and then the Diwali and new year break genuinely stop study, so we front-load September, thin the timetable through the festival weeks and restart firmly afterwards. Uttarayan in mid-January takes a weekend. The December to February stretch is where the heaviest teaching sits, because the weather is good and nothing competes for the evenings.

We have been posted to Sanand for three years. Will tuition move with us?+

That is a frequent situation in the GIDC belt, and because teaching is online it continues wherever the family goes next within India, with the same tutor if the time zone and schedule still work. Many of the households we teach here are mid-posting, which is often the reason they moved to an international curriculum in the first place. Tell us the likely timeline and we plan the syllabus so a move does not land in the middle of an internal assessment.

What happens in a free trial lesson?+

One full lesson, no charge, with the tutor who would go on to teach the course. The student works on a real question from the correct board and level while the tutor watches the method, and at the end you hear a plain assessment of where the gaps are. Nothing is agreed in that lesson. If the style does not suit your child, say so and we match a different tutor instead of persuading you.

Our internet drops during the monsoon. Is that a problem?+

It is manageable. Fixed broadband in Sanand town, the GIDC estates and on the Shela side is usually reliable, and we suggest keeping a mobile hotspot on a second network as backup for heavy monsoon days, when the highway and the power supply can both be affected. If a lesson is genuinely lost to an outage, it is rescheduled rather than charged. A laptop, headphones and a room where a door closes are all the equipment needed.

Can an IB or IGCSE student from Sanand still sit JEE or NEET?+

Eligibility is generally fine, since both examinations accept qualifications recognised as equivalent to Class 12, but check the current rules in the information bulletin for the year your child applies. The real issue is style. JEE and NEET are fast multiple-choice papers on an NCERT-shaped syllabus, and two years of extended IB writing does not prepare anyone for that pace. If this is the plan, run dedicated preparation from Grade 11 and be honest about the workload.

Will an IB or Cambridge certificate be accepted by Indian universities?+

Yes, once the Association of Indian Universities has issued an equivalence certificate for the qualification, which is a documentary process with its own timeline. Start it as soon as results are published rather than during admission week, because admission deadlines will not wait. For Gujarat's own engineering and pharmacy counselling, confirm the current year's eligibility rules with the admission committee directly, since the detail for international boards does get revised.

My child is switching from the Gujarat board mid-year. Where do you start?+

With writing, almost always. Content from a GSEB or CBSE background is usually sound; what is missing is the habit of justifying, citing and evaluating, and the command term vocabulary that decides how much of a mark scheme an answer earns. The first few weeks cover that alongside the syllabus, with short past-paper answers marked openly so the student can see the difference between describe and explain for themselves.

How do we start, and who do we contact?+

Write to support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the programme, subject, level and exam session, plus your preferred evening or Sunday slots. We reply with a tutor match and a trial lesson time. There is no form to fill in, no fee before the trial, and no obligation afterwards. If you are not sure which course your child is on, send a photo of the school timetable and we will work it out.

Book a free trial lesson for your Sanand student

Sanand grew into an industrial town faster than its schools changed, which is why a child here can be the only one for miles on a particular Cambridge or IB course. That is a solvable problem. Send the programme, subject, level and exam session to support@ibgram.com, or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp, and tell us which evenings work around the school bus and the shift roster. You will get a tutor matched to that exact course, one free lesson to judge it by, and a rate in writing before anything is paid. If the fit is wrong, we change the tutor. Lessons are online into your own home, because tutors do not travel to Sanand, and the first conversation costs nothing.
