Salaya IB and IGCSE Tutors with Online Home Tuition

Salaya sits on the Gulf of Kutch, a port town that has sailed cargo for generations and whose families often have relatives working in the Gulf. For an IB or IGCSE student here, home tuition means a private live lesson on a screen. Tutors do not call at Salaya houses, and no IB or Cambridge school is confirmed in town.

  • We pick the tutor for the exact IB course or IGCSE specification your child is entered for
  • Salaya classes are on screen; tutors at the door exist just in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • The first class costs nothing and the fee is sent in writing before you commit
  • Parents get a short written note after each session

IB & IGCSE in Salaya

Dhows, Gulf ties and a syllabus from abroad

Salaya is a port-town municipality in Devbhumi Dwarka district, a little over thirty-three thousand people at the last census, nearly all of them Muslim. Its living comes from the sea: trade in sailing vessels, fishing out of the Gulf of Kutch, and the yards where dhow-type boats are still built. Kutchi, Gujarati and Hindi are all spoken at home. Because the dhow trade historically ran to the Persian Gulf and East Africa, almost every extended family here has someone working in Dubai, Sharjah, Muscat or Doha.

That connection is why Cambridge and IB come up in Salaya conversations. A cousin in the Emirates has a child at a Cambridge school; a returning family wants the same continuity; a father at sea hopes his daughter will study abroad. Local literacy was under half at the 2011 census, well below the Gujarat average, so education, and girls' education in particular, is a priority that many families express with real determination.

We checked Salaya and nearby Jamnagar for a school offering the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE and could not confirm one. The nearest verified options begin at Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Vadodara. A student who stays in Salaya can realistically follow such a course only by learning from a specialist over video.

One note on terms. Our tutors never come to a house in Salaya, as face-to-face teaching is confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. By home tuition we mean a private live class at the child's own desk. IB Gram works independently from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and any school named here, and tutors never write a student's assessed work.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP, and Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • A specialist without the long road to Jamnagar or Rajkot
  • Free first lesson, then a fee in writing
  • Written notes after every class
  • Online only in Salaya, never a tutor at the door
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Salaya school years

A child in Salaya can take any IB stage over video. Here is what the tutor's job looks like as the student grows.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Children work in themed units and learn by asking, testing and sharing. The programme ends with a pupil-led Exhibition on a subject of the child's choosing.

In a Kutchi- or Gujarati-speaking home the usual need is conversational English, so sessions revolve around picture books, simple questions and number rhymes rather than written drills.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Every subject is graded on set criteria, and the units are anchored in global contexts. A Personal Project in the last year asks for a sustained piece of independent work.

A student from a Gujarati-medium school must learn to read a rubric and write reasons in complete English sentences. A tutor can model this on real class work until the student does it unprompted.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

A candidate studies six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Examinations come in May or November, and school-marked internal work adds to the grade.

A Salaya Diploma student is likely registered in Rajkot, Ahmedabad or even the Gulf, so a specialist tutor at home becomes the steady presence across holidays and long absences.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A pair of Diploma subjects is combined with a vocational strand, a reflective project and language study. Students who want a more applied route tend to be drawn to it.

CP is rare in Gujarat and we know of no school near Salaya that offers it. We coach the academic strands for a student registered elsewhere and say frankly when another pathway makes more sense.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Salaya school timetables

As no teacher comes to a Salaya house, every format below is delivered on screen. They vary in group size and in the time of year each suits best.

Private online lessons at home

The student sits at their regular desk while one specialist teaches over a live call. In Salaya this is the sole kind of home tuition we offer; tutoring at the door is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • One shared board plus worksheets
  • The same hour each week
  • A short summary follows

Ramzan-aware and holiday revision

Lighter timetables in Ramzan, the Eid break and the long school holidays make good windows for focused revision before an exam series.

  • Lots of brief lessons
  • Papers marked and returned
  • A weak-topic list for parents

Shared lessons for two

Cousins or siblings taking the same course can share a tutor and divide the fee between them.

  • One course, one level
  • Fee stated in writing
  • Switch to individual lessons at any time

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Salaya

01

Does Salaya or Jamnagar have a school for the IB or Cambridge?

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Salaya or Jamnagar
  • Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Vadodara hold the nearest confirmed schools
  • Many families begin with Gulf-linked students returning home
  • Check any authorisation claim on the official site

None that we could confirm. Salaya's schools follow the Gujarat state board or CBSE, with a number of madrasa-linked institutions alongside them, and Jamnagar looks much the same from the sources we checked. We prefer an empty list to a doubtful name.

The nearest confirmed school is The Galaxy School in Rajkot, which holds IB Diploma authorisation and also offers Cambridge IGCSE. In Ahmedabad there are Ahmedabad International School and Udgam School for Children, and in Vadodara Navrachana International School and VIBGYOR High. Each means boarding or relocation from Salaya.

A good many families therefore start the other way round: a child is already studying Cambridge or IB abroad, in Dubai or Sharjah, and returns for a year; or relatives in the Gulf fund a plan for university and the family builds towards it from Class 8 with online lessons at home.

Whenever a school claims to be IB-authorised, ask for its record and compare it with the IB's own list before paying fees.

02

Gujarat Board, CBSE, IGCSE, IB or a Gulf curriculum: what changes for a Salaya child?

Gujarat state board papers draw on the GSEB textbooks and reward clear, accurate recall. CBSE adds more application. IGCSE and IB confront the candidate with unfamiliar data, sources or scenarios and give marks for each reasoned step. A child returning from a Gulf school on a British or Indian-style curriculum often already knows this style, while a child from a local school meets it for the first time.

The adjustment is mainly one of habit. Defining a term precisely, showing every working line, writing a neat four-mark answer and outlining an essay are teachable skills, and a tutor can correct them as they appear on the shared page.

Language is the other half. A student who thinks in Kutchi or Gujarati has to handle scientific words and command terms in English, so the sessions weave vocabulary and concept together.

In the free lesson we say plainly whether a child will be better served by staying on the board they know.

03

How much does IB and IGCSE tuition cost in Salaya, and what moves the price?

A printed rate card would be misleading, since the fee follows the tutor and the course, not the town. You receive a figure in writing after the free first lesson and are free to decline.

Level moves the price most: an IB Chemistry HL tutor carries years of difficult content, and costs more than someone supporting Class 6 science. Rarity comes next, as Psychology or Environmental Systems tutors are scarcer than Mathematics tutors. Weekly hours matter too, and exam seasons usually need more of them.

Compared with a Salaya tuition class, which charges little because many pupils share one teacher, a private specialist costs more. Compared with a private teacher in Rajkot, an online lesson saves petrol, a half-day on the road and often a hostel bill.

If a family wants to hold costs down, a short block on one weak unit, or a lesson shared with a relative, are both possible.

04

Online home tuition, madrasa-hour tuition, a local teacher or self-study: what works for Salaya?

Many Salaya children already spend part of the day in religious study, and any additional schooling must fit around it. Extra tuition at the local classes tends to focus on the state board syllabus, which is valuable for that goal and does not reach IB or Cambridge papers.

A teacher from the neighbourhood is trusted and convenient, especially for younger children. The limit is the specification itself: few have taught an IB internal assessment or a Cambridge extended-response question.

Self-study with free online past papers costs nothing, yet it conceals errors, as a method repeated a dozen times can look like practice until it is marked.

Online tuition provides a specialist who sees the working as it is written and mends the exact step. It needs a decent connection and a quiet spot, which can be hard in a busy household, so we plan timings with the family.

How do Ramzan, monsoon, cyclones and the fishing season shape the year in Salaya?

The IB final papers come in May and November. IGCSE has summer and autumn series, with a January window in a few Edexcel subjects, and a school in Rajkot or abroad sets its own mocks. A private candidate instead follows whatever the exam centre announces.

The Gujarat coast has its own pressures. April to June is hot and humid, with salt in the air and power cuts in storm weeks. The monsoon from late June to September stops fishing and keeps many boats in harbour, and the Arabian Sea can throw up cyclone alerts, most recently in the mid-2020s, that close schools and cut electricity for days.

Ramzan, which moves earlier each year, changes the daily rhythm of the town: classes are shorter, evenings start late and nights are long. Eid and Muharram bring family gatherings, while Uttarayan in January is celebrated by many households with kites.

We plan around all of it. A weekly slot can move to after the evening prayer in Ramzan, revision can be front-loaded before a cyclone season, and exam months can carry two sessions a week.

06

Where can a Salaya student go after IB or IGCSE?

In India, Diploma graduates can apply to universities that accept AIU equivalence, and a number of private and some central universities read IB grades directly. Engineering and medical seats in Gujarat run through JEE, GUJCET and NEET rules, so examine subject and board conditions before settling on Higher Level subjects.

CUET-UG applies to many central university courses. We prepare students academically and never promise admission.

For study abroad, the Gulf comes first for many Salaya families because relatives can help, then the UK, Canada and Australia. UK universities look at predicted IB points or A Level grades; Canada and Australia take either; and universities in the Gulf mostly recognise IB and Cambridge qualifications.

Careers linked to the coast, such as marine engineering, naval architecture, logistics, shipping management and fisheries science, suit IB Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Environmental Systems.

07

What happens in an online IB Maths or science lesson?

  • Choose Maths AA or AI with advice
  • Corrections made live on the board
  • Practice with the data booklet and command terms
  • Investigations steered, never written for the student

IB Mathematics comes in two forms. Analysis and Approaches centres on algebra, calculus and proof, a natural match for future engineers and scientists. Applications and Interpretation starts from data, models and technology, better for business or social science. Pick before Class 11; the trial lesson helps you decide.

Tutor and student write together on one digital whiteboard, so a dropped minus sign is caught at once, and a shared screen shows calculator keystrokes.

For the sciences we practise reading data, keeping units consistent, understanding command words and planning the internal investigation. That investigation is the student's alone; the tutor discusses method and uncertainty and nothing more.

Where a school laboratory is poorly equipped, simulations and short videos fill in, and careful home measurements, say of objects floating and sinking in a bucket, produce real data to work with.

08

IGCSE tiers and subject choices for Salaya students: Core against Extended

Several IGCSE subjects are sat at Core or Extended level. Choosing Core caps the grade, and Extended removes the cap. A student aiming at IB Mathematics, the sciences or A Levels ought to take Extended in those subjects.

Five to eight subjects is typical. Families in Salaya often choose Mathematics, the sciences, English, Business Studies or Accounting, Economics and Computer Science, with Environmental Management for coastal topics and Arabic where a session offers it.

Our tutors can teach for both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel. The aims are alike but papers are laid out differently, and coursework and practical rules can differ, so we check the code with the school or centre before planning.

Strong IGCSE grades show that a student can cope with the Diploma or A Levels, while uneven ones point to what needs repair ahead of Class 11.

Where we tutor

Salaya areas we teach online

Any Salaya house with a reliable connection can receive a lesson. The localities below come up when families describe the town, and each carries a note on timing and the school day.

Salaya port and creek side

Boat-owning and fishing families live near the water; sailing seasons and sea-days decide when a lesson fits.

Dhow-yard area

Households of boatbuilders and ship-chandlers, with long working days and a keen interest in engineering for their children.

Main bazaar and old town

Trading families with relatives abroad, who keep shop hours into the evening.

Mosque lanes and madrasa neighbourhoods

Dense residential pockets where children balance religious study with school, so lesson times are set around prayer and class hours.

Bedi and Jamnagar road side

The eastern approach used by parents commuting towards Jamnagar, about an hour or so away.

Vadinar and Dwarka road side

The western and southern approach towards the Vadinar oil-terminal area and Dwarka, with households tied to energy and transport jobs.

Newer plots on the town edge

Recent housing with younger families who are weighing their children's schooling options for the first time.

Fishermen's colonies along the shore

Seasonal households whose routine follows the tides; online lessons reduce the need for any commute.

Nearby villages of the taluka

Smaller settlements where school choice is limited and a screen is often the only link to a subject specialist.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Salaya

Nearby: Rajkot

The closest confirmed IB and Cambridge school sits in Rajkot, a couple of hours away by road; some Salaya families consider it for boarding. Local choice in Salaya itself is limited.

  • The Galaxy School

Nearby: Ahmedabad

Gujarat's largest cluster of international schools is in Ahmedabad, a long journey from the coast, and is the usual reference point for families thinking of relocation.

  • Ahmedabad International School
  • Udgam School for Children

Nearby: Vadodara

Vadodara has established international schools, which come up for families with relatives settled in the city.

  • Navrachana International School
  • VIBGYOR High, Vadodara

In Salaya and Jamnagar: no confirmed IB or Cambridge school

The schools we found follow the Gujarat state board or CBSE, and none is named here as an IB or IGCSE provider.

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Salaya; we name none.

IB Gram operates on its own, apart from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school mentioned. The names appear only to give orientation. For authorisation and the courses currently offered, ask the schools directly.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Salaya: your questions answered

Is online IB or IGCSE tuition available in Salaya?+

Yes, over video. Teachers elsewhere in India, working on IST, give private live classes to Salaya students in IB PYP, MYP and DP and in Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Since no IB or IGCSE school is confirmed locally, video is often the quickest way to reach a specialist.

Can a tutor come to our house in Salaya?+

No. Tutors at the door exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Home tuition in Salaya means the online kind: your child at a laptop in their own room, a tutor teaching live and following the working on a shared page, and no journey to Jamnagar or Rajkot.

My child studied Cambridge in the Gulf and we are back in Salaya. Can they continue?+

Usually, yes. Tell us the last school's board, the syllabus code and the series your child is entered for. A tutor can carry on the same course, or help convert content to the Gujarat board or CBSE if you are changing system. A diagnostic first lesson shows the real gaps.

What does the tuition cost?+

A written private quote comes after the free trial. It reflects the tutor and course, not the town. Higher Level sciences cost more than primary support, scarce subjects more than common ones, and more weekly hours raise the monthly total. You pay nothing until you agree.

Does Jamnagar have an IB school?+

We could verify none. Confirmed IB and Cambridge schools begin at Rajkot, with more in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Should a school claim IB authorisation, ask for the record and check it on the IB website, because a name with International in it proves nothing.

How do exams get registered from Salaya?+

Registration must go through an authorised school or exam centre, either by joining one in another city or as a private candidate where that is permitted. We do not handle registration. After it is done, we take on the teaching and exam coaching at home.

Can girls in our family study IB or IGCSE from home safely and comfortably?+

Yes. Lessons take place at home, in the family's own space, at a time chosen around prayer, school and household routine. Tutors are screened and parents can sit in on any lesson. Many families value that a girl can study at an international standard without travelling.

My child's schooling so far was Gujarati medium. Will English be a barrier?+

Given time, no. The real gap is academic English: explaining, command words and reading data. A diagnostic lesson maps it, vocabulary grows subject by subject, and first targets stay modest. Think in terms of a couple of terms rather than a few weeks.

Which subjects do Salaya families ask for?+

Maths leads, the three sciences follow. Trading families add Economics, Business and Accounting, while help with English writing is asked for at every age. Arabic and Gujarati appear where school and session allow.

Will the tutor write our child's IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors talk through choosing a topic, designing a method, analysing results and organising the piece, but the IB requires the submission to be the student's own work, so requests to draft coursework or an essay are refused.

What happens to lessons in a cyclone alert or power cut?+

We rearrange. Let us know when a cyclone or storm warning is on, and keep a charged phone with a hotspot nearby. Lessons that fail are replaced free, and a short voice call can continue while the signal is weak.

What is the free first lesson like?+

A real class of about thirty minutes built around what your child is studying now. Notice how clearly things are explained and how brisk the pace is. If it seems wrong, we offer another tutor and you still owe nothing.

Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE: which board?+

Normally the school or exam centre has chosen already, so go along with its board. Cambridge is more common in India and the Gulf, and Edexcel offers a January sitting in certain subjects. Tell us the board and code and lessons follow that specification.

Do Indian universities accept IB scores?+

Largely yes. AIU equivalence recognises the Diploma and many universities read IB grades, though NEET and JEE set their own eligibility rules, which are best checked early. We support the academics only and do not advise on admissions.

How do we start?+

Message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp or write to support@ibgram.com, giving class, board, subjects and goals. We reply with a tutor and trial time, and no payment is due until you have the written rate.
