IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Private Tuition in Rasra

Anyone in Rasra typing home tuition for an IB or IGCSE student will find plenty of coaching for board exams and very little for these syllabuses. IB Gram fills that gap by connecting your child, in their own room, with a private tutor who has taught the specific subject, over a live one-to-one video call. The first lesson is free. No tutor will turn up at a Rasra address, as doorstep teaching exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Shortlists begin with your child's precise course, not a general IB label
  • All teaching is online; tutors do not visit Rasra, and in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • Try the first class free; get rates in writing
  • A summary of each lesson reaches parents the same day

IB & IGCSE in Rasra

What IB and IGCSE tuition means for a family in eastern Uttar Pradesh

Rasra is a tehsil town of Ballia district, about thirty-four kilometres from Ballia itself and forty-two from Mau, a trading centre for the villages around it and a place that still thinks of itself as Nath Nagri after the Nath Baba temple. Its schools are UP Board or CBSE, and Bhojpuri is the language of the street, with Hindi in the classroom. The syllabus that most local children eventually face is the Intermediate board followed by entrance tests.

We could not confirm any school in Rasra or in Ballia city that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. That means a family asking about them has usually already decided something big: to move, to send a child to a boarding school, or to prepare for study overseas. A tutor then has a particular job, which is to make the new syllabus familiar before the change arrives.

The lesson is simple to describe. A video call, a shared board, a past-paper question, and a tutor who watches the working line by line. Because the tutor has taught the same course before, they can predict where a student from a UP Board background will slip and fix it early.

IB Gram is independent. It has no link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school, and a tutor will explain, coach and mark practice work but will not write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or other graded coursework.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Rasra school years

In Rasra the four IB programmes arrive from outside the town, so the useful question is not what they are in theory but what a student needs before meeting them.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Primary students study themes such as how the world works or how we express ourselves, and conclude with an Exhibition. Since nothing is externally examined, a tutor focuses on reading aloud, spoken English, simple number problems and curiosity framed as a question.

A Rasra parent asking about PYP is typically planning a relocation to a metro and wants a child who is relaxed about English-medium discussion on day one.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Each subject has four assessment criteria, and the final year includes a Personal Project. A child who has only answered chapter-end questions may not yet know how to plan an investigation, evaluate a result or reflect on a process.

Students from UP Board classrooms usually need support in lab reports and in extended writing for Individuals and Societies before MYP feels natural.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects, plus Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and CAS. Most written papers fall in May, and internal assessments are marked by the school and moderated.

Diploma students linked to Rasra are normally enrolled in a school in another city, so weekly online lessons shore up one or two demanding subjects.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Career-related study sits alongside at least two Diploma courses, a reflective project and a language element. Few Indian schools offer it, but the academic courses are as demanding as in the full Diploma.

Enquiries from Ballia district for CP are rare; when they come, support centres on the Diploma subjects chosen.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Every request is matched on three things in order: the course, the level, and then the calendar. A tutor who is brilliant at HL Physics may be wrong for SL Biology, so the subject list below is a menu of specific courses, not categories.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

A calculus-heavy course with proof and Paper 3 style problems, suited to aspiring engineers and a good partner to JEE-style fluency.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and technology for commerce, social science and many biology paths.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics to modern physics, with practice on data-based questions and on writing a repeatable method.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Structure, kinetics and organic chemistry, with the data booklet used as an everyday tool.

IB Biology

HL / SL

From molecular biology to ecology, with command terms practised until they are second nature.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams that argue a point, linked to a live example, with HL adding numerical analysis.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-based answers that apply a tool to the named firm, plus a research project on a real business.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Analysing unseen texts, comparing works and speaking about literature in the oral.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, systems and a solution project that must run.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Using named studies precisely and evaluating them in a clear line of argument.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies, data response and a fieldwork investigation.

IB History

HL / SL

Source evaluation and sustained essays on twentieth-century themes.

IB Hindi B

SL / HL

Reading unfamiliar text types, formal writing and a spoken exchange, natural for a Hindi-speaking home.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Guided conversation on knowledge questions, with the essay left to the student.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Before any teaching, we confirm Core or Extended, because the same Cambridge code can be two very different papers. Then the countdown is set from the series the student is entered for: Cambridge in February-March, May-June or October-November, or Edexcel in January, May-June or October.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Rasra school timetables

Three ways to organise the same live, one-to-one video lesson with an India-based tutor. They differ in speed, not in method. A tutor will not come to Rasra; in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Weekly one-to-one lessons

One or two sessions a week on a fixed day with the same tutor, working through the course and reopening weak topics.

  • One tutor throughout
  • Past-paper practice built in
  • Notes after every class
  • Breaks around Chhath are easy

Exam-season push

More frequent lessons in the weeks before a mock or an exam series, aimed at specific lost marks.

  • Timed questions and instant marking
  • Plan agreed first
  • Suited to private candidates
  • Stops after the exam

Private home tuition, online

For parents who search for home tuition: private teaching for the student in their own room, carried by video. The tutor does not come to Rasra, and home visits are available only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Laptop and a quiet corner
  • Parent welcome at the trial

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Rasra

01

Who in Rasra asks about IB and IGCSE, given no local school teaches them?

A small and quite particular group. Rasra's schools and Ballia's follow the UP Board or CBSE, and as far as we could confirm neither offers the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Anyone who wants these has to look at a different city, a boarding school or private study.

The enquiries come from families with a story. A father in the army or railways is being posted to a city with an IB school. A doctor or lawyer with a clinic in Ballia wants overseas university options for a child. A relative abroad has offered support for studying in the Gulf, the UK or Canada. In each case the family needs to know what the syllabus actually asks.

A tutor serves as a rehearsal. A student who will join an IB school in Class 11 can use Class 10 to get used to command terms and internal assessment habits. A student already enrolled elsewhere, but spending a year at home in Rasra, can continue a subject without losing momentum.

Because nothing about these syllabuses is local, tutors are found nationally and matched on specification experience. Judging by a trial class matters more than judging by a postal address.

Check any school's programmes directly on its website; offerings change.

02

How is the UP Board different from IB and IGCSE?

The UP Board paper checks whether a student has studied the prescribed chapters, and answers can often be predicted from earlier years. IB and IGCSE papers ask students to apply the same knowledge to a context they have not met, and then to explain their reasoning in sentences.

That is why a student who tops a Rasra school can score modestly on a first IGCSE paper. Recall is not the issue; the skills of interpreting an unseen graph or evaluating a policy are.

Reporting differs, too. The board gives marks and percentages, IGCSE gives A* to G and the Diploma gives points out of 45, and universities read each in their own way.

None of this makes IB or IGCSE easier or harder. It makes them different, and a tutor's first job is to show how questions are put and what a complete answer looks like.

03

What goes into the price of IB and IGCSE tuition in Rasra?

  • Programme, level and subject
  • Tutor's experience on that specification
  • Sessions per week and their length
  • No travel cost, because lessons are online

A figure without a subject attached would mislead you, so none is published. You receive a written quote before you book, after you have told us the course and the weekly plan.

Level and subject lead the list: HL Chemistry takes more specialist knowledge than a Class 6 MYP lesson. Frequency and session length follow, then the tutor's experience, since someone who has coached several exam series can see a student's errors sooner.

Rasra families save on things that metro families pay for. There is no auto or bus fare to a centre in Ballia or Mau, no printed notes charge, and no batch fee. The quote is the whole cost.

A free trial class lets you test whether the money is well spent before committing.

04

Online tutor, Mau or Varanasi coaching, or self-study: which suits IB?

For IB and IGCSE, a subject-specialist online tutor usually gives the best return, mainly because the alternatives are not designed for these syllabuses. Coaching in Mau, Ballia and Varanasi is built around board exams, JEE and NEET.

Self-study with past papers works for a disciplined student, but marking your own scripts is tricky. Students are generous with themselves, and the same slip can survive across many papers.

A local general tutor is easy to find, yet seldom has trained on IB or Cambridge mark schemes. Online removes the journey and widens the choice.

The cost is reliability. A stable connection and power are needed, and in monsoon floods or heavy summer load, parts of the district may have neither.

05

When do the exams fall, and how does the eastern UP year affect study?

IB Diploma papers are mainly in May, with some schools sitting in November. Cambridge IGCSE has February-March, May-June and October-November series. Edexcel offers January, May-June and October. Private candidates register through an approved centre, probably in Varanasi, Lucknow or Delhi.

The local climate and calendar shape the study day. Summers in Ballia are hot and the loo wind makes afternoons hard, so lessons move to mornings and evenings. The monsoon from late June brings rain and, in low-lying Ghaghra and Ganga plains, the risk of flooding and travel disruption.

Festivals take large pieces of the year. Chhath, which Rasra celebrates with great devotion, can take a full week of family travel and fasting. Dussehra, Diwali, Holi and Eid also shorten study time, so tutors place revision blocks around them.

A sensible plan starts heavy revision ten weeks before each paper and keeps the last fortnight for timed practice.

06

Where can a Rasra IB or IGCSE student go after school?

  • BHU and IIT BHU through national entrance exams
  • AIU equivalence for the IB Diploma
  • CUET-UG for central universities
  • UK, Canada, Australia and US routes

Within reach are Jananayak Chandrashekhar University in Ballia, Banaras Hindu University and IIT BHU in Varanasi, and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. Entry usually depends on CUET-UG, JEE or NEET, and an IB student should read the latest rules before choosing subjects.

The Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence for the IB Diploma, which many institutions accept, though each sets its own subject requirements and cut-offs.

Overseas, IB and IGCSE are widely understood. The UK uses predicted grades, Canada and Australia have published conversion tables, and US colleges consider the Diploma with test scores where required.

A tutor can strengthen the subjects a course needs, but cannot promise admission. The best time to plan is before Class 11 subject selection.

07

How are IB Maths and the sciences taught online?

Picture a Maths class from the student's side. They share the question that beat them last night; the tutor reads the working, circles the exact line where it turned, and rebuilds that step with them. Two more questions of the same family follow, and the hour closes with a short timed problem marked while they wait. Everything written is saved to revise from.

The two Maths courses attract different students. Analysis and Approaches draws those who enjoy algebra and calculus, often future engineers, while Applications and Interpretation draws those headed to business, economics or biology, where statistics and modelling matter more.

In Physics, Chemistry and Biology, explanation alternates with lab-skills coaching for the investigation: picking variables, handling error, graphing and drawing a conclusion. Shared data sets stand in for apparatus, so no laboratory is needed at home.

Rather than teach every topic twice, a tutor hunts for the few that cost the most marks and spends the hours there.

08

Core or Extended: choosing IGCSE tiers and subjects from Rasra

Which tier a student sits changes the ceiling on the result. Extended reaches the top grades and is the sensible pick for anyone who may continue the subject at IB Higher Level or in A Level; Core caps the grade lower but is gentler, which helps a nervous student bank a pass. In a school the teachers choose; a private candidate ticks the box on the entry form.

Mathematics is where this bites. Sitting Extended Maths and then Additional Maths leaves a Class 11 student in an Analysis and Approaches room with calculus already familiar. If algebra is a daily struggle, a clean Core grade is worth more than a battered Extended one.

Pick subjects by looking at the end of the road. A future engineer collects Physics, Chemistry and Maths; a future doctor needs Biology and Chemistry; a shopkeeper's daughter planning a commerce degree might take Economics, Business Studies and Accounting.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel qualifications both travel well, and teaching follows whatever appears on the candidate's entry.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Rasra: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor in Rasra?+

We found nobody we could verify in town, which makes online the realistic choice. A Rasra student is introduced to a teacher who has already handled their precise IB or IGCSE course, and they meet live on Indian time. Where the tutor sits is immaterial; command of the syllabus is what counts.

Can I get IB or IGCSE home tuition in Rasra?+

What you get is private tuition for your child at home, taught over video. No tutor will call at a Rasra house; visits belong to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR alone. The student sits in their own room with a laptop, and the lesson comes to them.

What does tuition cost in Rasra?+

Price follows four things: the programme, the level, the subject and how seasoned the tutor is. HL Diploma science and Class 7 MYP are quoted differently. The figure comes in writing before you commit, nothing is added for travel, and the opening lesson costs nothing.

Which schools in Rasra or Ballia teach IB or IGCSE?+

We could not confirm any. Schools in Rasra, Ballia and Mau follow the UP Board or CBSE. Families who want an international syllabus usually plan a move or a boarding school, and use online tutoring to prepare for it.

Can a student in Ballia district take IGCSE privately?+

It can be done. The papers are sat at an authorised Cambridge or Pearson centre, most likely in Varanasi, Lucknow or Delhi, while all the teaching happens on video. Because entry deadlines fall many weeks ahead of a series, phone the centre first and ask about fees.

    Is the first class free?+

It is, and it is a real class rather than a demonstration. Your child tackles a topic that has been giving trouble and you see how the tutor explains it. Should the style not click, we offer someone else, and no payment is taken for the trial.

Will the tutor write my child's Internal Assessment?+

Graded work is never written by a tutor. What a tutor does is unpack the marking criteria, talk a research question into shape, test whether a method is sound and read a draft the student has produced. The IA, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay must remain the candidate's own.

Can Bhojpuri or Hindi speakers manage English-medium IB lessons?+

They can. The exams are in English, so the teaching is too, yet a tutor can restate a difficult idea in Hindi when that unlocks it, provided you note this in your brief. Students from Hindi and Bhojpuri homes often gain spoken confidence quickly through weekly conversation.

What if power or internet fails during the lesson?+

Charge the laptop beforehand and keep a hotspot nearby. Heavy summer demand and monsoon storms occasionally cut power or signal for a spell. The tutor will make up any lost minutes later and still sends notes covering the portion that took place.

Can a UP Board student move to IB or IGCSE?+

Yes, and it is a well-worn path. Content seldom blocks progress; wording and answer length do. Early lessons unpack words like justify and compare, then try a few real exam questions, so the first term of the new course feels less strange.

    When should we start?+

Ideally at the outset, so Class 9 for IGCSE and Class 11 for the Diploma, when gaps cost least to repair. Joining later also pays off, and even six to eight weeks ahead of a single paper makes a difference to technique.

    What times work in Rasra?+

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings suit most students. In May and June, sessions move earlier or later to avoid heat. Around Chhath, Diwali and Dussehra, slots are agreed ahead so revision is not lost.

    How do I follow my child's progress?+

After every lesson you get a few lines naming what was covered, what went well and what to practise next. Every few weeks there is a longer look at where your child stands against the grade being aimed for, and you are welcome to watch the trial.

What if the tutor is a poor fit?+

Say so and we find a different tutor, free of charge. Plenty of pairings fail on speed or manner rather than ability. No one is bound to a term, so you can also pause for exams and resume afterwards.

Is IB Gram linked to any school or exam body?+

There is no connection of any kind. IB Gram stands separate from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and all schools; where they are named, it is only to describe facts. To enquire, email support@ibgram.com or use WhatsApp on +91 7439 368 115.
