IB & IGCSE in Raisen

IB and IGCSE tutors in Raisen: online lessons from a Bhopal-side district town

Raisen is the headquarters of its district, a town of roughly forty-four thousand people at about 300 metres, about 45 kilometres from the state capital Bhopal. A fort sits on the hill above it, the Buddhist stupas of Sanchi and the Bhimbetka rock shelters lie within the same district, and farming still shapes much of the surrounding economy. At the same time, the district also holds the industrial belt at Mandideep, which means plenty of engineers and managers live within reach of the town.

For that reason, a number of Raisen households follow the international curricula closely even though the town has no IB or Cambridge school that we could confirm. Children in Raisen attend schools following the Madhya Pradesh Board, CBSE or, occasionally, ICSE. The families who ask us about IB and IGCSE are typically tied to Bhopal in some way: a parent employed there, relatives in a Bhopal school, or a plan to move the child to the city for senior secondary classes.

Home tuition in Raisen is online. Tutors do not visit homes in Raisen; in-person lessons are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A private lesson at your own table, led by a subject specialist over video, is what we mean by it, and it removes the 45-kilometre trip to the capital for a good teacher.

IB Gram is independent. It has no affiliation with the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school named on this page, and no part of this page is an endorsement or a promise of admission.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Raisen school years

In Raisen the IB is still a newcomer compared with the board system. Here is what each programme involves, written for a parent who is meeting it for the first time.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised into six transdisciplinary themes, and pupils investigate each through questions they help to frame.

Hindi is the first language in most Raisen homes, so younger pupils benefit from a relaxed, conversational route into English reading before any formal writing is demanded.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Students study eight subject groups, are graded on criteria and finish with a self-directed Personal Project.

Pupils moving from MP Board or CBSE texts need practice with open-ended questions, where marks depend on a clear line of reasoning and not the right final number alone.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Students take six subjects and complete TOK, an Extended Essay and CAS, then sit exams in May or November.

A Diploma student with a Raisen address will usually be enrolled in a school in Bhopal or farther away, so our timetable follows that school and not a local one.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A narrower set of DP subjects is paired with a vocational pathway and a reflective project.

Very few Indian schools offer the CP and none near Raisen that we can confirm, though DP courses within it can be tutored as usual.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Raisen school timetables

Our tutors do not teach in person in Raisen; home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. You can choose among three online formats, depending on timing and the number of children.

Regular weekly sessions

A tutor and a fixed slot every week, tracking what the school is teaching.

  • Builds steady strength across a term
  • A parent can join the first session
  • A short note follows each lesson
  • Moves easily around holidays

Revision sprints before exams

More lessons a week in the stretch before mocks, school tests or the May and November sessions.

  • Based on mock results
  • Real past papers and mark schemes
  • Timed work with feedback
  • Scaled back afterwards

Sibling pair lessons

Two children on a similar course share one tutor and one fee.

  • Works for MYP and IGCSE Core
  • Lower cost per child
  • Split into single slots near exams
  • One set of notes for both

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Raisen

01

Which schools near Raisen teach the IB or IGCSE?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed within Raisen
  • Bhopal and Indore are the realistic options for a move
  • Mandideep and Bhopal-linked households drive enquiries
  • A tutor can support before, during and after a change

Within Raisen itself, we could not confirm a single school authorised for the IB or registered with Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel for IGCSE. Local schools here follow the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education or CBSE, with a Kendriya Vidyalaya serving defence and central-government employees' children in the wider area. We would rather say that plainly than fill the page with school names we cannot vouch for.

That does not mean no one is interested. Bhopal, 45 kilometres away, is the state capital and home to AIIMS, IISER, MANIT and a number of central institutions. Families connected to those places tend to know the IB by reputation, or have lived in a city where it is common. The district also includes the Mandideep industrial estate and a rail corridor, so there are engineers and managers with children who studied elsewhere.

For anyone who wants an international programme, the options are therefore outside the town. A residential Cambridge campus near Ratibad in Bhopal accepts boarders, and Indore holds the state's strongest cluster of IB and Cambridge schools. A small number of students also prepare for IGCSE as private candidates, supported by a tutor.

In every case the tutoring task is concrete: close the gap against the new syllabus, keep the weakest subject from dragging the rest down, and teach exam technique for the sessions in May and November. All of that can be done online.

02

MP Board, CBSE, IB or IGCSE: a plain comparison for Raisen parents

  • Neither track is easier
  • Entrance-exam aspirants often prefer a board syllabus with coaching
  • IB and IGCSE suit study-abroad plans
  • Transfers at Class 9 and Class 11 are normal

Most Raisen students sit the MP Board's Class 10 and 12 papers in February and March, or CBSE's in the same window. Marks come largely from one big paper per subject, set on a prescribed textbook. The IB and IGCSE divide marks differently: coursework, practical work and papers of several kinds, graded against published descriptors, with credit for argument and application.

The right choice depends on where the child is heading. A student aiming at a government engineering or medical seat through JEE Main or NEET is, in the majority of cases, helped by a board syllabus aligned with those exams, plus coaching. A student with a plan for university abroad or for a liberal arts course in India may find the IB or IGCSE more suitable, particularly for broader subject combinations.

Crossing from one system to another is possible at several points. IGCSE students move to the IB Diploma or A Levels; IB students may still apply to Indian programmes through CUET-UG if subjects align. The table summarises the main differences as parents describe them to us.

03

How is IB or IGCSE tuition priced for students in Raisen?

  • Level and subject set the base rate
  • Tutor experience adds to it
  • Lessons per week shape the term total
  • Siblings can share a tutor

We quote a rate after we understand the work, not before. A Class 12 student chasing a 7 in Physics HL needs a different tutor from an IGCSE Core pupil who wants steadier algebra, so one price for everyone would be misleading. No published fee list exists on this page for that reason, and the rate you receive in writing is what you pay.

Four variables drive it. The first is subject and level, because specialist Higher Level teaching is scarce. The second is tutor background: how many years with this syllabus, and any marking experience. The third is weekly frequency; two lessons a week add up to more than one, yet often progress at more than double the pace. The fourth is group size, since siblings on the same course can share the lesson.

One saving specific to Raisen is time. Reaching a good tutor in Bhopal means a 45-kilometre drive each way, whereas online lessons need only a laptop and a stable connection. Parents also tell us that no travel means no missed lessons when a train or bus is late.

04

Online lessons, Bhopal coaching, a local tutor or self-study: how do they compare?

Bhopal is full of coaching institutes, and they are very good at JEE, NEET and board exams. They are far less equipped for the IB internal assessment or for an IGCSE tiered paper, and the commute is long for a Raisen student. An online tutor chosen for the syllabus avoids both problems.

A local private tutor in Raisen is convenient but is unlikely to have taught an IB or IGCSE course, since few have. Self-study using official past papers is a strong habit and we encourage it, but without a marker it is hard to tell whether an answer would earn full marks.

Most families combine approaches: school or board-based teaching for the bulk of the syllabus, and an online tutor for the subjects that are most demanding or most unfamiliar. The table compares the options on the points parents raise most often.

05

What does the Raisen calendar mean for exams and study time?

The IB Diploma exams run in May and November. Cambridge IGCSE sits in May-June and October-November, and Pearson Edexcel adds a January window. A student who has come from the MP Board will notice that the pressure peaks in different months from the February-March board season.

Raisen's own seasons also matter. May and early June are very hot, with temperatures that can top 40 degrees, so a late-afternoon lesson is better avoided; evenings are more comfortable. July to September brings the monsoon, which can interrupt power and data. Diwali, and in some families Navratri, remove several days in October or November. In February or March, the Shivratri fair at the fort draws large crowds for a few days.

We build each term around the exam date and the school's own calendar: foundations first, applied practice mid-term, and timed papers in the last weeks before the sessions. The table is a general guide, not a replacement for the school's published dates.

06

What can a Raisen student do after the IB or IGCSE?

  • AIU equivalence applies to IB and certain IGCSE routes
  • CUET-UG and NEET UG have their own subject rules
  • Bhopal's institutes may use state counselling conditions
  • Overseas options favour strong Higher Level scores

The IB Diploma is recognised by universities around the world, and the Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence for IB and for certain IGCSE-based qualifications. Indian degree courses that admit through CUET-UG look at the subjects an applicant studied, and medical admission through NEET UG expects Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English. Syllabus rules change, so check the latest notifications before choosing subjects.

Bhopal itself offers many destinations: AIIMS, IISER, MANIT, Barkatullah University, the National Law Institute University and several design and management schools. Some admit through national tests, others through state counselling that has its own conditions for IB and IGCSE applicants. We do not advise on admissions and no tutor will promise a seat.

For study abroad, the UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore and the US are the common targets. Competitive courses often ask for strong Mathematics and Science scores at Higher Level, but every university sets its own bar. Tutors help with the subjects; personal statements and essays remain the student's own work.

07

IB Mathematics and the sciences: what a tutor focuses on

  • AA for calculus-heavy plans, AI for data and modelling
  • Command terms and units cost the most marks
  • Past papers marked against the real scheme
  • No tutor writes coursework

A student choosing IB Mathematics decides between Analysis and Approaches, which is more algebraic and calculus-heavy, and Applications and Interpretation, which centres on data and modelling. For a child planning engineering, Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level is the usual route; for economics or social science degrees, Applications is often enough.

In Physics, Chemistry and Biology the content is only part of the task. Examiners look for definitions with the right precision, correct units, a clear sequence of reasoning and sensible treatment of uncertainty. A Raisen student arriving from the MP Board or CBSE often knows more facts than the syllabus asks for but gets fewer marks because the answer does not match the command term.

A typical lesson runs in four steps: a quick revision of the concept, an exam question attempted without help, marking against the real mark scheme, and re-attempting the weak parts. For internal assessments, tutors discuss design, data handling and structure, but the student writes the work. We do not write or edit any IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay.

08

How do Core and Extended IGCSE papers differ?

Cambridge and Edexcel let schools enter candidates for a lower or a higher tier in many subjects. The Core tier carries a lower grade ceiling and the Extended tier opens every grade. A student who may take A Levels or the IB Diploma should normally aim for Extended, while a student who finds the subject difficult may do better with a Core entry and good marks.

Subject choices in IGCSE shape later options. Additional Mathematics is a sensible pairing for a student who plans IB Mathematics AA. Taking Biology, Chemistry and Physics separately is more helpful than the Combined paper for a medical or engineering plan. A second language, such as Hindi, adds breadth.

Our tutors always start from the board's specification. Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 Mathematics overlap but are not identical, and the style of questions varies. Practising on the wrong board's papers wastes time, so we confirm the board before the first lesson.

Where we tutor

Raisen areas where families enquire about IB and IGCSE tuition

Location does not decide the tutor, since lessons are online. It does matter for timings, power and travel, so we have noted how each part of Raisen and its surroundings tends to work.

Raisen fort hill and old town

The historic centre beneath the fort; households here are long-settled and many compare MP Board with CBSE before any talk of the IB.

Bhopal Road and the bus stand

The main approach from the capital, where families who commute to Bhopal for work often arrange lessons after they return.

Station Road and the market area

A busy commercial stretch; evening lessons are best fixed after shops close to avoid noise and interruptions.

Collectorate and civil lines

Government officers' families live here, often posted from other districts and sometimes already familiar with CBSE or IB schools elsewhere.

Mandideep

The industrial township on the Bhopal side of the district, with engineers and managers whose children may attend schools in the capital.

Obaidullaganj

A town on the Bhopal-Hoshangabad road, with railway and forest-department families weighing the Bhopal option for senior school.

Sanchi

Known for its stupas; homestay and service households here want flexible evening slots in tourist months.

Begamganj

A tehsil town south-east of Raisen where a distance of an hour or more from Bhopal makes online teaching especially useful.

Silwani and Udaipura

Smaller towns in the district where internet reliability matters, so we advise a quick connection check before the first lesson.

Bareli and Gairatganj

Agricultural belts with large wheat and soybean farming families, who often want lessons set around harvest weeks.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Raisen

Inside Raisen: limited local choice

Schools in town follow the MP Board, CBSE or ICSE. We could not verify any local IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school, so international-curriculum study here means commuting, boarding, moving or learning with outside support.

    Nearby: Bhopal

About 45 kilometres away, Bhopal has one residential Cambridge-approved campus near Ratibad, which is mainly a boarding option. Some Raisen families consider it; most still keep a child in a local school and add a tutor.

    • Shrewsbury International School India

    Nearby: Indore

Madhya Pradesh's largest concentration of IB and Cambridge schools is in Indore, roughly 200 kilometres west of Raisen, and is the realistic choice for a family prepared to board a child.

    • Choithram International School
    • Daly College
    • The Emerald Heights International School

No IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school is confirmed inside Raisen, so none is named as local. The schools below are in other cities and appear only as context for families considering a move. IB Gram is independent, tied to no school and unable to speak for admissions. Please check authorisation on the official IB and Cambridge sites and with the school.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Raisen: your questions answered

Is IB or IGCSE home tuition available in Raisen?+

Yes, as online home tuition. Your child learns at home with a live, private tutor over video. Tutors do not visit Raisen, because in-person lessons run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A shared writing screen replaces the whiteboard and a short note follows every lesson.

Is there an IB school in Raisen?+

We could not confirm one. Schools in Raisen follow the MP Board, CBSE or ICSE. Bhopal and Indore have the nearest IB and Cambridge schools, usually as boarding options. A tutor can support a child planning such a move, or one already enrolled elsewhere who needs extra help.

My child studies in Bhopal but lives in Raisen. Can lessons be at night?+

Yes, within reason. Evenings and weekends are most common, and we avoid very late hours on school nights. Because lessons are online, there is no travel after a long school day. Tell us the school timetable and we fix a regular slot that your child can sustain.

How much do IB and IGCSE tutors cost in Raisen?+

The rate depends on subject, level, tutor experience and weekly frequency, so we publish no price list. You receive a rate in writing before booking. Siblings who share a lesson usually pay less each, and online delivery removes the cost of commuting to Bhopal.

Can a tutor help with IB Physics HL or Chemistry HL from Raisen?+

Yes. Higher Level sciences are among our most requested subjects. The tutor builds the derivations and calculations, practises Paper 2 and Paper 3 style questions, and marks answers against the mark scheme. The student carries out and writes the internal assessment alone, with method discussion only.

Do you write the IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors coach and give feedback on understanding, structure and method, but never write or edit an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or any coursework. The IB requires the work to be the student's own, and we hold to that rule without exception.

Can my child take IGCSE exams from Raisen?+

Exams are taken through an authorised Cambridge or Edexcel centre, which we do not operate. Some private candidates sit them at centres in Bhopal or elsewhere. We can teach the syllabus and past papers, but please confirm centre access and entry deadlines early with the exam board.

How do you handle power cuts or weak internet in Raisen?+

We plan for it. A phone hotspot as backup, a charged laptop and a call link tested before the first lesson solve most problems. If a lesson is lost to a power cut during the monsoon, the tutor offers a make-up slot, and notes can be shared in writing.

Does tuition help with NEET or CUET-UG after an IB?+

Tutoring covers subject content, which supports both. NEET UG needs Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English; CUET-UG depends on the chosen course. Rules change, so read the current notices. We help with the subjects and do not advise on admissions or counselling.

My child is in an MP Board school. Can they switch to the IB later?+

Yes, and tutoring can ease it. Transfers are most common at Class 9 or Class 11. A tutor identifies gaps against the IB or IGCSE syllabus, builds written-explanation skills and practises criterion-based questions. Starting a few months before the move works best, but weeks are enough to be useful.

Do you teach both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE?+

Yes. The two boards use different specifications and question styles, so we confirm yours first and assign a tutor who uses that board's past papers. A tutor strong in one board is not automatically the right fit for the other.

Is there tuition for IB MYP and PYP students?+

Yes. MYP support covers Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies and language, with attention to criterion-based tasks. PYP support for younger pupils is gentler, built on reading, number sense and inquiry projects. Demand is lower than for the Diploma, but early support helps habits.

What if the tutor is not a good fit?+

We change the tutor. Tell us what felt off, such as pace, style or timing, and we propose another with the same subject experience. There is no charge for the free trial lesson, and the rate is written down before any commitment is made.

Are you part of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service. It is not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school mentioned here. Schools appear only for geographic context, and families should verify authorisation and admissions on the official websites.

How do I book a free trial lesson?+

Email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with your child's class, programme or board, subject and the date of the next exam. We reply with a tutor suggestion and a trial slot, usually within a few days.
