IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Puttur, Andhra Pradesh

This page is for Puttur in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, not the Puttur in Karnataka. Home tuition for an IB or IGCSE student here means private, one-to-one lessons at home over video: tutors do not visit houses in Puttur, as home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Families sit roughly 40 kilometres from Tirupati and about 100 from Chennai, and many look to Chennai or Bengaluru for an international school. We teach the syllabus while the child is still at home.

  • Online one-to-one lessons at home with a tutor who has taught your exact IB or IGCSE course
  • No tutor visits in Puttur; in-person home tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • Free trial lesson and a written note after each session
  • Independent from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every named school

IB & IGCSE in Puttur

Who looks for IB and IGCSE tuition in Puttur, and why

Puttur is a town of about fifty thousand people in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, on the Chennai side of the district and on the main Mumbai-Chennai rail route. It has government and mandal-parishad schools, many private schools and a cluster of engineering colleges. What it does not have, as far as we can confirm, is a school offering the IB or an IGCSE.

Demand still exists, and it comes from the edges of the town's life. Families with a parent working in Chennai's software or auto sector look at international schools in the city. Others have a relative abroad and would like a child to be familiar with a syllabus that travels. Some are exploring an online international school that a Puttur home can attend over a decent connection.

In each case a specialist tutor is more use than a generalist. IB Gram finds one who has taught the specific subject at the specific level, and the lessons are online. A Puttur student can be taught IGCSE Chemistry by a teacher in Pune with no extra cost, and without anyone driving the Tirupati road. The only home visits we run are in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Tutors explain, set practice and mark it. Writing a student's Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework is outside what they do. IB Gram stands apart from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named in this page.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Puttur school years

A child in Puttur typically meets the IB through a school or online provider in another place. The notes below describe each stage and where private tutoring tends to matter.

PYPClass Nursery to 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning runs through six themes of inquiry with a final-year Exhibition. No external papers are set, so a tutor builds reading habits, number sense and the confidence to explain an idea.

Puttur parents asking about PYP usually plan a move to Chennai or Bengaluru and want the child comfortable with the style before joining.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against criteria, global contexts to anchor learning and a Personal Project. Understanding a topic and writing it in the criterion's terms are two different skills.

A student moving from Andhra Pradesh state-syllabus or CBSE classes into MYP needs the most help with writing explanations and reflections.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal assessments and May or November exams together decide the final grade.

A Puttur DP student is almost always enrolled elsewhere, and asks for steady support in Maths, the sciences or English during term and holidays.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma subjects are paired with a career-related study and a reflective project. Indian schools rarely run it, yet the academic courses inside need first-rate teaching.

Enquiries about the CP from Puttur are rare; where they come up, tutoring covers the Diploma-level courses inside it.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Intermediate board students from Andhra Pradesh are well drilled for exams, and the IB rewards a different kind of answer: one built around a command term and backed by reasoning. We match by subject, level and code, because the name of a course hides big differences.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, algebra and trigonometry with proof. Students from an IIT-JEE coaching background find the speed easy and the written justification new.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Data, probability and modelling on a graphic calculator. Exploration topics work best when they come from a dataset the student truly cares about.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics through to quantum and nuclear ideas at HL, plus a practical investigation judged on method and error analysis.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Atomic structure to organic synthesis. Mechanisms, equilibrium and energetics need the most guided practice.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A large content load with exact wording rewarded. Cell biology and genetics need clear diagrams and correct terms.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagram-based reasoning with evaluation. Chittoor mangoes, horticulture, handloom and temple-town tourism provide good local cases.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Marketing, finance, operations and people, assessed through cases and, at HL, a research project.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Textual analysis, comparative essays and an oral. Telugu and Tamil speakers need a steady diet of formal English writing.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Programming, networks and databases, with HL extending into more theory.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Key studies, evaluation and a strict-timed long answer.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL

Water, soils and land use, with local examples from the Eastern Ghats foothills and irrigated farmland.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Population, resources and hazards, with data questions and extended writing.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and essay writing, practised as separate skills.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Comprehension, writing in set forms and the individual oral. Telugu speakers benefit from structured grammar work.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Developing a position on a prescribed title and testing it. The student writes; the tutor questions.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE share a name but little else: codes, tiers and calendars differ. We confirm which one a Puttur student faces before the first lesson.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended needs clean working and algebraic fluency; non-calculator technique is trained deliberately.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Brings calculus and functions in early, which gives a useful head start for IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Edexcel's style of question differs from Cambridge's, so its own papers are used.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Equations, graphs and the practical-skills paper.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Moles, reactivity, electrolysis and organic basics.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Genetics, human and plant systems, ecology and long-answer structure.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets, government and development, with data-response practice.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, logic and Python on unfamiliar tasks.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Writing for effect, summary and directed writing on unseen passages.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing and a speaking component practised live.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Puttur school timetables

Every Puttur student learns the same way: a private tutor on live video. What changes is how many hours a week and how they are tied to exams.

Regular weekly lesson online

A fixed hour each week after school, using a shared whiteboard and the student's own past papers.

  • One tutor throughout the course
  • Whiteboard and mark schemes on screen
  • All IB programmes and IGCSE boards
  • Written note after each lesson

Entry-ready bridge before a move to Chennai or Bengaluru

A short course for a child about to join an IB or IGCSE school, covering vocabulary, question styles and habits, so the first term is not spent catching up.

  • Diagnostic in the first lesson
  • Focus on English, Maths and sciences
  • Timed to the admission date
  • Tapers once the child has settled

Mock and exam intensive

More sessions in the run-up to mocks and the main papers, built on timed questions that come back marked quickly, and timed to miss Sankranti and Ugadi.

  • Papers marked to official criteria
  • Gap list after every paper
  • Booked two to three weeks ahead
  • Festival-aware scheduling

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Puttur

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in or near Puttur?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Puttur
  • Chennai is the nearest practical option
  • Online schools let a child stay at home
  • Verify a school's status on the official IB or Cambridge site

In Puttur itself, we cannot confirm one. The town's schools follow the Andhra Pradesh state syllabus or CBSE, and the same holds for most of the surrounding mandals. Tirupati, forty kilometres away, has well-known CBSE schools and a university town's coaching culture, but not an IB school we can name with confidence.

For an international curriculum, Puttur families therefore look to Chennai, roughly a hundred kilometres away, and to Bengaluru. The American International School in Chennai and Indus International School in Bengaluru are examples of established IB schools. Others choose to enrol in an online international school and stay at home.

The geography is unusual. Puttur lies close to the Tamil Nadu border, so a Chennai posting is realistic for a working parent, and a child may start at a Chennai school while the family stays put for a time.

Whichever route a family takes, we suggest verifying a school's authorisation on the IB or Cambridge website, then letting tutoring follow the school's scheme of work.

02

How does the Andhra Pradesh state syllabus or CBSE compare with IB and IGCSE?

  • Speed in Maths and Physics carries over
  • IB marks working, not only answers
  • Long projects need planning skills
  • A tutor makes the criteria visible early

Both systems build knowledge, but they test different things. A state-board or CBSE paper rewards complete, accurate recall of what was taught. An IB or IGCSE paper often presents a new situation and asks the student to reason through it. A student who has memorised every chapter can be surprised by a question that uses none of the textbook's examples.

The Intermediate board in Andhra Pradesh, with its heavy JEE and NEET orientation in the Class 11-12 stage, produces students who are strong in Maths and Physics speed. IB Maths rewards that, but only if the written method is shown. Marks go to the working, and a right answer with no working can lose most of the credit.

Long assessed work is the other contrast. IB students write investigations and an Extended Essay across months; some IGCSE subjects have coursework. State-board students seldom manage a project of that length, and planning is a skill that must be taught.

None of this suggests the IB is harder. Many students prefer a system that spreads assessment across two years to one that puts everything on a single March paper.

03

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for a family in Puttur?

  • Level, tutor scarcity, length and frequency set the rate
  • No travel cost
  • Written quote after the free trial
  • Pause or stop when you need to

The rate is set by four things: the level of the course, how few tutors can teach it well, the length of each lesson and the number of lessons per week. A Higher Level Diploma science is dearer than an IGCSE Core subject because tutors with recent classroom experience are harder to find.

There is no travel charge. The Tirupati and Chennai roads are irrelevant when the lesson is on a laptop, and a Puttur family pays exactly what a Chennai family would for the same tutor.

Prices are not listed on this page, because a figure without the course is a guess. After the free trial you receive the fee and the weekly schedule in writing, with no pressure to accept.

The question that matters is what an hour achieves. A tutor who has marked a past paper in advance and teaches only from the errors spends the time better than one who goes through the textbook from the start.

04

Online tuition, Tirupati coaching, home tutors or self-study: what suits IB and IGCSE?

  • Coaching targets other exams
  • Local tutors suit state and CBSE subjects
  • Self-study lacks feedback
  • Online specialists combine both needs

Coaching around Puttur and Tirupati is shaped by the JEE, NEET and EAMCET market and by state-board preparation. Those centres are efficient for their purpose, but they have no batch for IB Economics or IGCSE Physics.

Local tutors are plentiful for state and CBSE subjects, and many are very good. A tutor who has never seen an IB mark scheme will be learning it on the student's time, which is a poor trade in an exam year.

Self-study can work for a disciplined student with a clear syllabus and past papers. What it lacks is feedback on working, essay structure and the choice of an IA question.

Online one-to-one lessons combine syllabus knowledge with individual attention. The condition is a stable connection, which is worth testing at the planned lesson time.

05

How do Sankranti, Ugadi and the Tirumala season affect the study year?

  • Sankranti falls in mock season
  • North-east monsoon can cut power and roads
  • Winter is the best time for full mocks
  • Confirm exact exam dates with the school

Sankranti in January is the biggest family festival in Andhra Pradesh, and it falls in the middle of mock-exam season for many schools. Travel to the village, relatives and visitors make it a week when lessons are best paused. Ugadi in March or April and Vinayaka Chavithi in the monsoon bring similar breaks.

Tirumala's Brahmotsavam, especially the autumn festival, increases traffic and visitors in Tirupati district. Puttur sits on the main route for some pilgrims, and families with relatives visiting may have less quiet time at home.

Climate shapes the day. April and May are hot, with temperatures that regularly pass 40 degrees, and the south-west monsoon is modest, but the north-east monsoon in October to December brings heavy rain that can flood roads and interrupt power. Winter, from December to February, is pleasant.

IB papers are in May and November, Cambridge IGCSE in May-June and October-November, and Edexcel in January and May-June. A sensible plan places the heaviest revision in November to February and lighter work around the festivals.

What university routes lead from Puttur with an IB or IGCSE background?

  • AIU equivalence supports Indian admissions
  • JEE, NEET and CUET have separate rules
  • State quota rules depend on where a student studied
  • Always check the official notification

The Association of Indian Universities treats the IB Diploma as equivalent to Class 12, so a Puttur student can apply to universities across India, including SV University in Tirupati, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, Anna University and the Chennai institutes, subject to each institute's own rules. Central universities use CUET-UG.

For engineering and medicine the national exams are separate. JEE and NEET-UG publish eligibility rules for candidates from international boards, and the combination of subjects chosen at sixteen must match them. The notification is the authority, not a tutor's summary.

Overseas, the IB Diploma or IGCSE followed by A Levels leads to universities in the UK, Canada, Australia, the US and Europe. Predicted grades, English tests and essays decide offers, and a Higher Level mix matching the intended degree helps.

Telugu-speaking students sometimes ask about the AP and Telangana state quota systems; those are state matters that depend on where a candidate studied, and families should check with the relevant authority.

How does an online tutor teach IB Maths and the sciences to a student in Puttur?

  • Shared whiteboard with live correction
  • Past papers matched to code and level
  • Exact vocabulary for Biology and Chemistry
  • IA support is coaching only

In Maths, the tutor and student share a whiteboard. The tutor sets a problem, the student writes the opening steps, and the tutor interrupts at the first doubtful line. This catches omitted justification, careless notation and calculator-only answers early.

In Physics and Chemistry, lessons alternate between a concept and an exam question. If the student hesitates on, say, an electrochemical cell, the tutor goes back to the idea and then returns to the question. Data-booklet fluency and unit discipline are drilled until they are fast.

In Biology, the tutor concentrates on the vocabulary and structure markers look for. A short, exact sentence usually beats a long, loose one.

The Internal Assessment is handled through coaching: choosing a workable question, understanding the criteria and reading a draft. The experiment, data and conclusions must be the student's own.

08

Choosing IGCSE subjects and tiers from Puttur

  • Five to nine subjects is typical
  • Extended and Higher tiers open the top grades
  • Additional Maths bridges to IB Maths AA
  • Hindi is a dependable option for many students

A typical IGCSE candidate sits five to nine subjects, with English, Mathematics and the sciences as the base. Cambridge offers Core and Extended tiers; Edexcel offers Foundation and Higher. The tier caps the highest grade, so choose it on the evidence of timed mock papers.

A student planning IB Maths or a Higher Level science later should aim for Extended or Higher, with Additional Mathematics. A student aiming at A Levels in sciences should take the sciences separately if the school offers that.

Hindi is available as a first or second language and suits students who speak it at home; Telugu and Tamil are not offered in the standard IGCSE list, but fluency in them does not hurt.

We check board, code, tier and series first, so that practice papers match.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Puttur: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors in Puttur, Andhra Pradesh?+

No IB Gram tutor lives in Puttur. They teach by video from other cities, and a Puttur student attends live private lessons from home with a specialist matched to the exact course, level and exam session.

Do tutors visit homes in Puttur?+

They do not. Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR are the only places with house calls. For Puttur, home tuition means a private video lesson that your child attends from their own room, so there is no travelling and no travel charge.

Is this page about Puttur in Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka?+

It is about Puttur in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. Puttur in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, is a different town. Lessons work the same way for both, as they are online, but the local context here is Andhra Pradesh.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Puttur?+

A quote depends on which course and level it is, how long each session runs, how many a week you want, and how current the tutor's classroom experience of that exact syllabus is. No price list is published. You see a figure in writing once the trial is over.

Is there an IB school in Puttur or Tirupati?+

We cannot confirm one in Puttur. Schools there follow the state syllabus or CBSE. Families seeking IB usually look at Chennai, Bengaluru or an online school.

My child is in a Telugu-medium school. Can they manage IB or IGCSE?+

Yes, with preparation. Because IB and IGCSE are examined in English, the early months emphasise technical vocabulary and written explanations. The subject knowledge is usually already there.

Which IB subjects do Puttur families ask for most?+

Maths (AA and AI), Physics, Chemistry and Biology lead, followed by Economics, English A and Computer Science. Engineering-minded families ask especially for Maths and Physics.

Do you teach MYP and PYP students?+

We do. For MYP the work is learning to write to Criteria A to D and keeping the Personal Project moving; for PYP, little and often works best, with reading aloud, mental number work and Exhibition research.

Can my child prepare for IGCSE while studying CBSE?+

Yes, in private lessons, but the exam must be sat through a registered centre. A tutor can cover the syllabus and past papers. Entry arrangements are made with the centre, and we can explain the steps.

What if power cuts or rain interrupt a lesson?+

We agree a backup beforehand: phone audio, a hotspot or a rebooked slot. Lessons lost to outages are rescheduled at no cost.

Will the tutor write my child's Internal Assessment?+

Never. A tutor can explain what a criterion rewards and comment on a draft's shape, yet every word, data point and conclusion that is submitted has to come from the student. That is a rule of the IB and Cambridge, and ours too.

Which exam sessions can you prepare for?+

The IB May and November sessions, Cambridge's summer and autumn series, and Pearson's January and summer windows are all covered. Revision is planned in reverse from the paper date, with the first full mock about two months out.

    When should tutoring begin?+

Ideally on day one of the syllabus, which means Class 11 for DP and Grade 9 for IGCSE. Joining later is workable, but the lessons then go to the topics that carry most marks and to timed past papers, not to a leisurely first pass.

What if my child does not like the tutor?+

Say so, and a different tutor is found. Progress is checked every few weeks anyway, and nothing in the arrangement prevents you from pausing or switching.

Can lessons avoid Sankranti and Ugadi?+

Yes, share the family calendar when you start and slots will be moved, skipped or doubled up so that revision never collides with a festival week.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or exam board?+

None at all. IB Gram operates by itself, without ties to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any of the schools mentioned here.

    How do I start?+

Write to support@ibgram.com or send a WhatsApp message to +91 7439 368 115 naming the course, the subject, the level and when the paper is. A suggested tutor and some trial slots come back to you.
