IB & IGCSE in Punganur

An international syllabus for a plateau town: how IB and IGCSE tutoring reaches Punganur

Punganur stands about 764 metres above sea level on the Rayalaseema plateau, close to the point where Andhra Pradesh meets Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The 2011 census counted 54,746 people, and in August 2023 the town became a second-grade municipality with 31 wards. A recent district reorganisation moved it from Chittoor into Annamayya district, under the Madanapalle revenue division. Outsiders know it mostly for the Punganur cow, one of the smallest humped cattle breeds anywhere, and for the old zamindari palace.

Schooling in town is mainly Andhra Pradesh state board and CBSE, followed by Intermediate colleges and preparation for EAPCET, JEE and NEET. That is why a request for IB and IGCSE tutors in Punganur is a different kind of enquiry. The parents who make it usually have a child boarding in Bengaluru, Chennai or Tirupati, or enrolled with an online international school, or just back from the Gulf or a foreign city and unwilling to lose a syllabus already begun. A few are planning a degree in the UK, Canada or Australia several years ahead.

IB Gram tutoring here is online, one-to-one and live, taught from India in Indian Standard Time. Nobody travels to a Punganur house, because in-person home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What a family receives is private tuition at home through a screen, from a person who has taught the exact course, instead of a general Maths or Science teacher learning the syllabus beside your child.

We are independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school. Tutors explain, question and give feedback, but they never write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or piece of coursework, because that work has to belong to the student.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Punganur school years

No IB school in Punganur is known to us, so a child follows these programmes at a school in another city or through an online provider. This is how each stage looks when the support comes by video to a family in the town.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

The PYP organises learning into units of inquiry and ends with a pupil-led Exhibition. Because nothing is graded against an external paper, tutoring is about reading habits, number fluency and curiosity.

A Punganur child on the PYP is usually at a school elsewhere or in an online programme, so a session is short: a story read aloud, some mental arithmetic, and help turning the Exhibition topic into questions the child can really investigate.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

MYP subjects are marked against published criteria, so students meet a new kind of question: explain your reasoning, test a hypothesis, weigh a source. The last year brings the Personal Project and, where a school enters its students, optional on-screen exams.

A child moving in from an Andhra state-board Class 8 or 9 often knows the content but loses marks on wording, so much MYP tutoring for Punganur homes is structured English writing and learning what a command word such as justify really asks for.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

The Diploma asks for six subjects, three at Higher Level, alongside Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Several subjects carry internal assessment, and the written papers are sat in May or November.

Diploma requests from the Punganur area tend to centre on Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with Economics and Business Management close behind. Many of these students live in Bengaluru or Chennai during term and use weeks at home for concentrated study.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme pairs at least two Diploma courses with a career-related study and a core that includes a reflective project. It suits a student who already has a specific vocational direction.

Enquiries about the CP from Punganur are rare. Tutors can teach the Diploma courses inside it and talk through the reflective project, but the career-related study itself is delivered by the school or its own partner provider.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Students around Punganur ask for help in the same handful of subjects again and again. Each course below is taught by someone who has handled its syllabus and mark scheme, so the lesson follows the IB subject guide and not a general textbook.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Algebra, functions, calculus and proof for students who like symbolic reasoning; at HL, the Paper 3 investigations reward patient, step-by-step argument.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Probability, regression, modelling and problems solved with a graphic display calculator, where the skill is picking a method and reading the result in context.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics through fields and quantum ideas, with practice in reading graphs, handling uncertainty and writing reasoned explanations.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Stoichiometry, bonding, energetics, kinetics and organic pathways, using the data booklet properly and setting out calculations clearly.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells, genetics, physiology and ecology, plus the habit of answering the command term instead of writing down everything that was memorised.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Accurate diagrams, current examples and balanced evaluation across micro, macro and global topics, with quantitative work at HL.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study technique, financial tools and an internal assessment built on a real organisation's published information.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Close reading of literary and non-literary texts, comparative writing and the Individual Oral, a good fit when a student thinks in Telugu, Kannada or Tamil but writes English with confidence.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

A language course for students who meet Hindi as a second or third language, with steady practice in reading, writing and conversation.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Logic, algorithms, data structures and networks, plus the shape of a documented solution built over several months.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Landmark studies remembered correctly, then argued in essays that state a claim, back it with evidence and weigh its limits.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Ecosystems, water, soil and energy, illustrated with plateau examples such as rain-fed farming, village tanks and orchard crops.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies, data-response questions and the fieldwork investigation, with practice in evaluating a place or process and not only describing it.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel both award the IGCSE, but their papers are built differently. We begin by confirming the board, tier and syllabus code on the school paperwork, then work only from past papers written for that specification.

IGCSE Mathematics

Core / Extended

Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, number work and statistics. Extended reaches the top grades and suits students bound for A Level or IB Maths; Core is aimed at a dependable pass.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics

Cambridge

Calculus, functions, logarithms and trigonometry beyond the main syllabus, a useful bridge to IB Higher Level or A Level Mathematics.

IGCSE Physics

Core / Extended

Motion, thermal physics, waves, circuits, magnetism and nuclear physics, plus the alternative-to-practical paper that tests lab skills on paper.

IGCSE Chemistry

Core / Extended

Particles, reactions, rates, organic chemistry and analysis, with care over balanced equations and tidy calculation layout.

IGCSE Biology

Core / Extended

Cells, nutrition, transport, reproduction, genetics and ecosystems, with regular practice in drawing, labelling and reading graphs.

IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences

Cambridge

One route through biology, chemistry and physics together, for students who do not need three separate sciences at A Level or IB HL.

IGCSE English as a Second Language

Cambridge

The four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, for students who speak Telugu, Kannada or Tamil at home, with feedback on tone and accuracy.

IGCSE Business Studies

Cambridge / Edexcel

Business activity, marketing, operations and finance, practised on short case studies in the style of the paper.

IGCSE Computer Science

Cambridge

Data representation, algorithms and programming, written in the pseudocode format the exam board expects.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language

Cambridge

Reading comprehension, directed writing and oral practice for a student who needs a second-language result on the certificate.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Punganur school timetables

Nothing about a lesson depends on where you live, because every format runs over video. No tutor comes to a Punganur house; in-person home tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What changes from one format to the next is how often you meet and how long each block lasts.

One hour, once a week

A fixed weekly session with the same tutor, meant to keep a student level with the class through the term.

  • One tutor, one subject, one agreed evening
  • Worked examples and marked questions on a shared screen
  • A short written summary after each lesson
  • Easy to pause for Sankranti, Ugadi or Dasara

Break blocks for boarders and online-school students

Concentrated sessions for students who are home from Bengaluru, Chennai or Tirupati, or who study online and want a person to explain the week's work.

  • Daily or alternate-day lessons during holidays
  • A review of the past term and a preview of the next unit
  • More than one subject, each with its own tutor
  • Stopped cleanly when school or the online timetable resumes

Mock-season sprints

Two sessions a week across the six to eight weeks before mocks and the final papers, built around timed practice.

  • Past papers sat under exam conditions
  • Line-by-line review of lost marks
  • Practice with command words and mark schemes
  • The same tutor from first paper to last

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Punganur

01

Who studies the IB or IGCSE around Punganur, and where do they go to school?

  • Boarders at schools in Bengaluru, Chennai or Tirupati who are home for breaks
  • Online international school students studying from Punganur
  • Families back from the Gulf, Singapore or the West
  • Parents testing IGCSE or IB subjects before a school transfer

Almost all of them study somewhere other than Punganur, or online. We could not confirm an IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school inside the town, so the students who contact us are boarders in Bengaluru, Chennai or Tirupati, pupils of online international schools, and children of families back from abroad who want to keep an overseas syllabus going. Tutors for these courses are rarely available in a town this size, and that gap is what online lessons fill.

Picture a Class 9 boarder from Bengaluru who is home for the Dasara break. Her school has already begun the next MYP unit, she lost marks on a criterion she never quite understood, and nobody at home has seen an MYP rubric. A week of short daily sessions with a tutor who has worked with that rubric can close the gap before term restarts, and the same tutor can take up again at Sankranti.

A second group is planning years ahead. Punganur is two to three hours by road from Bengaluru, National Highway 42 runs south from the town to Krishnagiri, and it is common here to have a cousin or an uncle working in one of the big southern cities. A parent of a Class 8 child who is weighing an IGCSE or IB route, perhaps with a UK, Canadian or Australian degree in mind, often wants to try the subjects with a tutor before any school transfer or fee is decided.

If you are not sure which board or tier your child is on, send the school's name and the subject list, or a photograph of the latest report card. We read it with you and confirm the syllabus before the trial lesson, so nobody prepares the wrong paper.

02

AP board, CBSE, IB or IGCSE: how do the four routes compare for a Punganur student?

They differ most in how marks are earned. Andhra Pradesh board papers reward accurate recall of the textbook, CBSE mixes recall with application, and the IB and IGCSE ask students to reason, evaluate and explain in English, often with coursework or practical elements attached.

In Andhra Pradesh the usual sequence is the SSC exam at Class 10, then the Intermediate course with its board examination in Class 12, and AP EAPCET for state engineering, pharmacy and agriculture seats, while medical entry runs through NEET. Telugu medium is still common in town schools, so a child who joins an English-only international course has to build exam English as well as learn new content.

Calendars diverge too. Andhra boards finish in March and April, CBSE wraps up by April, IB papers fall in May and November, and Cambridge IGCSE sits in May-June and October-November, with Edexcel adding a January series in some subjects. A house with one child on each system is juggling two or three timetables at once.

The table sets out the main points. Individual schools differ in detail, so read it as a list of questions to ask rather than a rule.

03

How is the fee for IB or IGCSE tuition in Punganur decided?

  • Level and how scarce the subject specialist is
  • The tutor's experience with your exact board and tier
  • Lessons per week and the length of each
  • Steady term plans versus short exam-season blocks

There is no price list for IB and IGCSE tutors in Punganur, because the rate depends on details we can only learn by speaking to you. The subject and level, the tutor's experience with your board, how many lessons a week you book and how long each one runs all move the figure. You receive the rate in writing after a free trial lesson and before anything is booked.

Level and subject come first. A Higher Level Physics or Maths tutor with years of teaching and marking behind them belongs to a smaller pool than someone who can read a Class 6 story with a child, and the rate reflects that. A tutor who has taught your exact board, such as Edexcel Mathematics A, will usually ask for more than a generalist, and is worth it when a student keeps losing marks to wording and not content.

Frequency is the other big lever. A day scholar on one lesson a week spreads the cost across the term, while a boarder home for three weeks may want a session every day. Families in Punganur often combine the two, keeping a light weekly slot during term and adding a concentrated block before mocks. Arriving with a short list of questions or a past paper already attempted turns an hour of exploring into an hour of repairing.

Group tuition in town is priced for a room of state-board students, and an hour of it rarely touches an IB Chemistry paper. Compare cost with what the hour actually covers, not with the clock.

04

Online tutor, coaching class, neighbourhood tutor or self-study: which suits a Punganur student?

When a family searches for IB and IGCSE tutors in Punganur, a live online tutor who has taught that syllabus usually fits best, because the local supply of people who have is small. Coaching classes and neighbourhood tutors serve state-board, EAPCET, JEE and NEET goals well, and self-study works for revision, but each leaves a gap when the paper is an international one.

Andhra's Intermediate colleges and coaching centres are organised around the EAPCET, JEE and NEET calendar, with fixed batches and fast syllabus coverage. That suits those exams. It does not suit a student who has to explain an enzyme-inhibition graph in three careful sentences or write a full IB Economics evaluation.

A retired teacher or tutor down the lane may be excellent at Class 10 Maths and still be unfamiliar with IB notation, calculator rules and the way marks are split. Self-study with past papers is a sound habit, yet very few students can spot their own repeated errors without someone marking their work.

The table compares the four routes on the points families raise most often. It reflects our own view, not a survey.

05

Which weeks are hardest to study in Punganur, and how do we plan around them?

Usually April to June, when the heat peaks and the IB May papers fall, and the north-east monsoon weeks from October to December, when rain and power cuts can interrupt a lesson. Festival weeks such as Sankranti, Ugadi and Dasara are the third pressure point. We build the timetable around all three before the term starts.

Heat first. At about 764 metres Punganur sits high enough to be a little cooler than the plains below it, but April and May afternoons are still hot, and these are the weeks of the IB May session. We plan revision before 11 am or after 5 pm, keep sessions shorter, and encourage students to do timed papers in a cool room so exam-hall conditions do not come as a shock.

Rain arrives in two waves, the south-west monsoon from June to September and the north-east monsoon from October to December. The second overlaps the IB November session and the October-November IGCSE series, so storms and power interruptions matter more then. A hotspot and a charged power bank are cheap insurance.

Festivals are the last piece. Sankranti in January is the big family holiday, Ugadi in March or April is the Telugu and Kannada new year, and Vinayaka Chavithi, Dasara and Deepavali bring shorter breaks between August and November. Mock papers often sit close to these dates, so we agree a fallback slot in advance instead of cancelling.

The table shows the year as we usually map it for a Punganur student.

A Punganur year against the IB and IGCSE calendar
MonthsWhat is going onHow we plan lessons

06

Which IB Maths course and which sciences suit a Punganur student?

Choose Analysis and Approaches if your child enjoys algebra, calculus and proof and is aiming at engineering, physics, mathematics or economics; choose Applications and Interpretation for data, modelling and technology, which fits business, social science and most life-science degrees. The choice is about how the student thinks and what they plan to apply for, not about which course is harder.

Students from an Andhra state-board or CBSE background are often drawn to AA because it looks tougher on paper. That instinct is not always right. A student who dislikes abstraction may score higher, and enjoy the course more, in AI. A short diagnostic set of problems usually shows which style suits the child, and we run one at the start if the family is undecided.

In Physics, Chemistry and Biology the recurring lessons are about precision: units, significant figures, use of the data booklet, and answers shaped by the command term. HL Chemistry asks for confident organic mechanisms and HL Physics for fluent algebra, while Biology rewards students who learn to write compact, evidence-led explanations.

Each science carries a practical internal assessment and Maths has its Exploration. Tutors can help a student choose a question that is testable with equipment at hand, discuss the reasoning in a draft and explain the criteria. The experiment, analysis and writing stay with the student.

07

Cambridge or Edexcel, Core or Extended: what should a Punganur family decide for IGCSE?

  • Confirm the board and syllabus code in writing
  • Extended for STEM plans, Core for a secure pass
  • Practise only on papers from your board
  • Add Additional Mathematics only when the workload is realistic

Decide the board first, because the school or exam centre normally fixes it, and then the tier for each subject. Extended papers open every grade and suit students who plan A Level, IB Higher Level or a science degree; Core papers cap the grade and suit a secure pass in a subject that matters less for the future.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel cover similar ground but differ in paper structure, mark allocation and the way questions are phrased. Practising on the wrong board's past papers is a quiet, common reason for lost marks, which is why we confirm the syllabus code before the first lesson.

Most students sit between five and eight subjects. English and Mathematics are nearly always among them, plus at least one science. Additional Mathematics is a helpful stretch for future engineers, yet it adds real workload, so we suggest it only when the student is comfortable with the core Mathematics.

No school in Punganur offers the IGCSE, so a student studying the course independently would need a registered exam centre that accepts private candidates. We can tell you which questions to ask, but registration is a matter between the family and the centre.

08

After the IB or IGCSE, where can a Punganur student study?

In three directions: Indian universities, universities abroad, or a mix of the two. IB Diploma holders usually need an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate for Indian degrees, CUET-UG and other tests apply their own rules, and universities in the UK, Canada, Australia and much of Europe read IB and A Level results directly.

Within reach of Punganur are IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati and Sri Venkateswara University at Tirupati, VIT in Vellore and the large institutions of Bengaluru, which is one reason many families think about staying in the south. Some students use the IB to keep engineering, medicine and overseas options open at once.

JEE and NEET have their own eligibility conditions for students from international boards, and they change between years. We ask families to read the latest official notices before subjects are locked in, because a wrong choice at Class 11 is harder to undo than one made a year earlier.

For study abroad, predicted grades, subject prerequisites and English tests all form part of an application. Tutors help with the subjects; they do not manage applications or promise offers. The table lists the main routes and what to check first.

Should a Punganur family look at Bengaluru, Tirupati or Chennai for the school itself?

Sometimes, when the family wants a full IB or IGCSE school and not tuition beside a local one. Tirupati, around 115 km away, has three Cambridge IGCSE schools we confirmed, Bengaluru, about 135 km, has the widest choice of IB campuses, and Chennai, near 220 km, has several IB schools. We do not recommend or rank schools.

Distance decides most of it. A daily commute to any of the three is not realistic from Punganur, so the choice is between boarding, relocating the family and staying put with an online school. Each has costs that go beyond fees, and a child's age and temperament matter as much as the campus brochure.

Whatever the family chooses, tutoring at home can carry on. A boarder can book holiday blocks, and a student who stays in Punganur can take a weekly lesson through the term in the one subject where the class moves too quickly.

If you do visit schools, ask about results in your child's own subjects, how many students take each course at Higher Level, and what support exists for someone arriving from a state-board background. Then check the school's authorisation on the IB or Cambridge International website.

Where we tutor

Parts of Punganur and its approach roads

Because lessons are online, your address does not decide who teaches your child. It still shapes the day, from when school ends to how steady the power and mobile signal are, so we ask where you live and plan around it. This is how we think about different parts of Punganur when we fix a lesson slot.

NS Peta

An older residential quarter of the town. Town schools here follow the state board or CBSE, so we usually propose a first slot after 6 pm and adjust once the family has seen how an evening really runs.

Kotapeta

The name means the fort quarter, a sign of the older layout of a town that grew around a zamindari seat. Households near the market often keep shop hours, so Saturday and Sunday mornings can beat weeknights.

Vinayaka Nagar

A residential colony on the town map. Vinayaka Chavithi in August or September usually brings processions and loudspeakers to neighbourhoods like this one, so that week we move lessons to a quieter hour.

Bus stand area

The APSRTC bus station and the roads around it. Some children reach Madanapalle, Kolar or Tirupati by bus for school or coaching, and return times vary, so we confirm the slot a day ahead.

Kolar Road

State Highway 425 runs from here to Kolar in Karnataka, about 75 km away, and on to Bengaluru. Families on this side often have relatives across the border, which keeps a Bengaluru school in view.

Madanapalle Road

National Highway 42 heads towards Madanapalle and Anantapur in one direction and Krishnagiri in the other. Madanapalle, about 27 km away, is the usual hub for hospitals and colleges, so a household here may plan its day around a trip there.

Pulicherla and Chowdepalle side

State Highway 65 links Punganur with Chowdepalle and Pulicherla. Students from villages along it may rely on a bus or two-wheeler, so evening lessons begin only after they are home, not at a fixed clock time.

Palace and old town

The zamindari palace and the lanes around it form the oldest built-up part of town. Older houses often have thick walls that weaken Wi-Fi, so a test call from the exact room where your child will study is worth making.

Someswara temple area

The Sri Someswara temple, built by the Cholas, anchors this part of town. Festival days bring crowds and music, so lessons on those evenings are moved rather than squeezed in.

Villages around the town

Places such as Bayyanapalle, Cherlapalle and Kondasamudaram lie on the plateau around Punganur. Connectivity can be patchier here, so we suggest a test call before the trial and a phone hotspot as backup.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Punganur

Punganur itself

We could not confirm any school in Punganur that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE course, so none is named. Town schools follow the Andhra Pradesh state board or CBSE, and a family wanting an international syllabus without moving usually chooses an online school or private tuition beside a local one.

    Nearby: Tirupati

About 115 km by road, Tirupati has three schools we could confirm for Cambridge IGCSE, each listed as day-cum-boarding, which is why some Punganur families weigh it for Classes 9 and 10. SLATE stops at Class 10, while the other two run to Class 12.

    • Sree Vidyanikethan International School
    • Edify School
    • SLATE - The School

Nearby: Bengaluru, north of the city

About 135 km by road, Bengaluru is the closest big city with confirmed IB campuses. Stonehill is an authorised IB World School on the airport side of the city, and Trio World Academy offers the IB alongside Cambridge IGCSE in the Sahakara Nagar area.

    • Stonehill International School
    • Trio World Academy

Nearby: Bengaluru, Sarjapur Road and the south-east

A second cluster of confirmed schools on the far side of the city. TISB runs IGCSE and then the IB Diploma, Indus is an IB school, Greenwood High teaches the IB Diploma and IGCSE, and Inventure Academy follows Cambridge IGCSE and A Level.

    • The International School Bangalore
    • Indus International School, Bengaluru
    • Greenwood High International School
    • Inventure Academy

    Nearby: Chennai

Around 220 km away, Chennai offers the full IB continuum at several campuses and suits families with a parent or relative already living there.

    • Gateway International School
    • Hiranandani Upscale School

These schools are in other towns and cities and are named only to show where families from Punganur usually look. IB Gram is a separate tutoring service with no tie to any of them, to the IB, to Cambridge or to Pearson, and a mention here is neither an endorsement nor a promise of admission.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Punganur: your questions answered

Do tutors come to my home in Punganur for IB or IGCSE lessons?+

No, tutors do not come to homes in Punganur. Lessons are live and one-to-one over video, so they work as home tuition taken at your own table. House visits are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Your child still learns from a specialist in the exact course, and nobody has to travel to Punganur or out of it.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Punganur?+

We could not confirm one. Schools in Punganur follow the Andhra Pradesh state board or CBSE. The nearest schools we could verify are Cambridge IGCSE schools in Tirupati and IB schools in Bengaluru and Chennai. Before applying anywhere, check the school's status on the IB and Cambridge International websites.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Punganur?+

It depends on subject, level, tutor experience and lesson frequency, so we publish no rates. After a short conversation and a free trial lesson, we send the rate in writing, and nothing is booked until you agree. One weekly lesson across a term usually costs less than repeated daily blocks, though boarders often need the blocks.

What happens in the free trial lesson?+

It is a complete online lesson with the tutor we propose, at no charge. The tutor finds out where your child stands, teaches a real topic from the syllabus and shows how sessions run. Afterwards you can go ahead, ask for another tutor or stop, and nobody will chase you for a decision.

Which IB subjects do your tutors teach?+

Most Diploma subjects at HL and SL, including Maths AA and AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Hindi B, Computer Science, Psychology, ESS and Geography. If your subject is unusual, write to us and we will check whether a tutor is available before the trial lesson is booked.

Can a tutor write my child's IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay?+

No. Tutors coach and give feedback but never write assessed work. They can help a student choose a workable question, plan the structure, read the criteria and react to a draft. The investigation and the writing must remain the student's own, as the IB requires, and a tutor who crossed that line would harm the student.

Do you teach both Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE?+

Yes, in Core and Extended where a subject has tiers. Send the board and syllabus code from the school paperwork, because practising on the other board's papers misleads a student about question style, mark allocation and depth. We check this before the first lesson so the trial lesson uses the right material.

Is English the main hurdle for a student coming from Telugu-medium schooling?+

Often it is the wording, not the ideas. A student from a Telugu-medium school may know the content well and still lose marks on command terms such as justify, discuss or evaluate. Tutors build exam vocabulary, sentence structure and confidence over a few months, and encourage full written explanations instead of one-line answers.

We live near the Karnataka border. Does Kannada or Tamil matter for the IB or IGCSE?+

Not for the lessons, which run in English. Many Punganur households also speak Kannada or Tamil, and some students study an additional language at school. Language options depend on the school and the board, so tell us what yours offers and we will say whether a tutor is available.

Can lessons fit around EAPCET, JEE or NEET coaching?+

Yes, if the timetable is planned early. We fix one weekly slot that avoids coaching batches and college hours, and we lighten the load in weeks with a major test. Check the current eligibility notice for any entrance exam if your child follows an international board, since rules for IB and IGCSE students differ from those for state-board candidates.

How is the IB Diploma recognised for admission in India?+

Indian universities generally ask for an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, and CUET-UG and other tests apply their own rules. Requirements differ by institution and change between years, so read the target university's latest notice. Tutors help with subject learning, not with admission decisions.

What if a power cut or heavy rain interrupts a lesson?+

Tell us as soon as you can and we will reschedule. A session lost to a power or network failure is not charged. In the north-east monsoon weeks it helps to keep a phone hotspot or a charged power bank ready, and to book slots a little earlier in the evening.

Can a boarder in Bengaluru, Chennai or Tirupati take lessons only in the holidays?+

Yes. Many students book blocks during Dasara, Sankranti and the summer break and pause when school resumes. The same tutor can take up again at the next break, using the written notes from the previous block as a starting point, so no time is spent re-learning where the student stands.

Do you support PYP and MYP students?+

Yes. PYP support is brief and centred on reading, number work and planning the Exhibition. For MYP, tutors work on criteria-based answers in Maths, Sciences, Language and Literature, and help a student think through the Personal Project without writing any of it for them.

What equipment does my child need for online lessons?+

A laptop or tablet, headphones with a microphone and a stable connection are enough. A stylus or drawing tablet helps in Maths and Physics, and a phone hotspot is a sensible backup during the rains. Choose a quiet spot with good light, and a fan or cooler during the hot months.

Should we move our child to a school in Bengaluru or Tirupati for the IB or IGCSE?+

That is a family decision, and we do not recommend or rank schools. Tuition works beside a school anywhere, so a move is worth weighing only if you want the full IB or IGCSE experience. Visit, ask about results in your child's subjects and check authorisation on the IB and Cambridge International websites.

    How do I get started?+

To arrange IB and IGCSE tutors in Punganur, email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the school or online provider, the board, the subjects and the level. We reply with a suggested tutor and a trial slot that suits your evenings or weekends, and the rate follows in writing.
