IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Pihani

Pihani was once called the Damascus of Oudh for its sword blades; today a family here looking for IB or IGCSE home tuition faces a different scarcity, because nobody in Hardoi district teaches those syllabuses. IB Gram answers it with live one-to-one video lessons from a tutor who has coached your child's exact subject, taught into your own living room. The tutor does not come to Pihani; doorstep teaching exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Shortlisted from tutors who have already taught your child's own paper
  • Online lessons only; no tutor visits Pihani, because home tuition in person is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free first class and rates stated in writing
  • Parents get a few lines after every lesson

IB & IGCSE in Pihani

Teaching an international syllabus to a student in Hardoi district

Pihani is a municipal town of some thirty-six thousand people in Hardoi district, in the Lucknow division, headquarters of a development block with well over a hundred villages. Its living today comes from jaggery and woven carpets, with a long memory of the sword-making that once earned it a reputation across Awadh. Buses run to Hardoi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Delhi, and that road network is how most students think about leaving.

Schooling in Pihani is Uttar Pradesh Board or CBSE, and we could not confirm any school in Pihani or Hardoi that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Anyone who asks about those courses therefore has a plan that stretches beyond the district: a relative in Delhi or abroad, a posting, a boarding school, or a decision to study privately.

A lesson with us is a conversation across a screen. Student and tutor share a board, and the tutor stops the student at the first wrong line instead of the last, which is where most of the learning happens. Because the tutor has taught the same paper before, the correction lands precisely.

No school, board or exam body stands behind IB Gram; it is a separate service. Its tutors teach, coach and mark practice scripts, yet the Internal Assessment, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay always remain the student's own writing.

At a glance

  • Live one-to-one video lessons with a shared board
  • IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP, plus Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE

  • A free first lesson, then a written plan
  • In-person visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR; Pihani lessons stay online
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Pihani school years

None of the four IB programmes is taught in Pihani, so what follows is less a description of each than a note on what a child needs before meeting it somewhere else.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Teachers frame each unit around a central idea and let children investigate it, finishing the final year with a self-driven Exhibition. No exam looms, so a tutor's time goes into building fluent reading and the ease of saying a thought aloud in English.

Parents in Pihani who ask about PYP are generally preparing a younger child for a move to Lucknow, Delhi or overseas.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Work is graded against criteria rather than a single mark, and the programme closes with a Personal Project. Children raised on guidebook questions may be unsettled by tasks that have several acceptable answers.

A student from a UP Board class usually needs the most help with science write-ups and with composing a balanced paragraph in Individuals and Societies.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

A student studies six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, together with Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS. The big written papers arrive in May.

A Diploma student linked to Pihani almost always studies in a different city, which is why weekly online lessons in Maths or the sciences matter.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP joins two or more Diploma courses to a career-focused study and a reflective project. It is offered by only a few Indian schools, and its academic courses are as demanding as in the Diploma.

Questions about CP from Hardoi district are rare; if they come, support focuses on the Diploma courses in the student's combination.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Pihani school timetables

Each option is a live video class between one student and one tutor based in India; they differ in speed alone. Nobody ever travels to a house in Pihani, as the only in-person tuition runs in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Standing weekly lessons

A fixed hour or two each week with the same tutor, who walks the syllabus in order and keeps revisiting the points where the student stumbles.

  • One tutor throughout the term
  • Past-paper questions in every class
  • A short note after each lesson
  • Easy to pause for Eid or Diwali

Intensive revision blocks

A tighter cluster of lessons before a mock or an exam series, spent entirely on the topics that are still losing marks.

  • Timed questions, marked as you watch
  • A plan signed off beforehand
  • Good for private entrants
  • Winds down after the paper

Private home tuition by video

For families who search for home tuition, this is the truthful equivalent: a private teacher reaching the student at home through a screen. Nobody turns up at a Pihani door, since house visits belong to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Laptop, headset, a corner without noise
  • A parent can watch the trial
  • Swap tutors if the match is poor
  • A written quote comes first

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Pihani

01

Are there IB or IGCSE schools in Pihani or Hardoi, and who enquires?

None that we could confirm. Pihani's schools follow the UP Board or CBSE, and so do Hardoi's. Anyone who wants the IB or an IGCSE has to look at Lucknow, Delhi NCR, a boarding school elsewhere, or a private route.

The people who write to us tend to have a particular story. A brother in the Gulf who wants a nephew to have a portable qualification. A government employee about to be posted to a city with an IB school. A carpet or jaggery merchant planning university abroad for a daughter. And occasionally a teenager who has read about the Diploma online and wants to try.

In every case the tutor acts as a rehearsal. A student who will join an international school in Class 9 or 11 can practise the style of question well before the first day. A student already enrolled elsewhere but living at home in Pihani for a year can keep a subject moving.

Because Hardoi district has no ecosystem around these syllabuses, tutors are chosen nationally on their experience with the specification and on how the trial class goes.

Always check a school's current programmes on its own website before relying on any list.

02

How is the UP Board different from IB and IGCSE?

Start with what the papers reward. The UP Board checks whether a student has learnt the prescribed chapters, and similar questions return from year to year. IB and IGCSE check whether a student can use what they know on something new: an unfamiliar graph, a case with odd numbers, an essay that asks for a verdict.

A good Pihani student can therefore feel slow in a first IGCSE paper. Knowledge is not the issue; writing out reasoning in sentences is, and that habit can be trained in weeks.

Results also read differently. The board reports a percentage, IGCSE reports A* to G and the Diploma reports points out of 45. Universities in India and abroad each have their own way of converting these.

Neither side is easier. A tutor's first job is to show how questions are put and what a complete answer looks like, so that effort goes where the marks are.

03

How is IB and IGCSE tuition priced for a family in Pihani?

  • Which programme, which level, which subject
  • How long the tutor has taught that specification
  • Lessons per week and how long each runs
  • No fares or centre fees, since everything is online

We do not print a rate card, because a number without a subject would mislead. A written quote reaches you before you book, once you have told us the course, the level and how often you want to meet.

Level and subject come first. A Higher Level science class takes more specialist preparation than a Class 6 MYP lesson. Frequency and session length follow, and then the tutor's experience with the particular specification.

A Pihani family avoids charges a metro family cannot. There is no bus fare to Hardoi or Lucknow, no centre fee and no printed packs. The quote is the whole cost.

The free first class lets you test value for money before any commitment.

04

Online tutor, Lucknow coaching or self-study: which suits IB from Pihani?

For these syllabuses, an online subject specialist usually beats the alternatives, because they are built for different exams. Lucknow's coaching market serves board exams, JEE, NEET and civil services, not IB command terms or Cambridge mark schemes.

Self-study with past papers works for a disciplined student, but marking one's own script is unreliable. Students are generous with themselves, and the same slip repeats across papers.

A local tutor in Pihani is easy to find but rarely trained on IB or Cambridge schemes. Online removes the road and widens the choice to the whole country.

The trade-off is a stable connection and power. Winter fog and summer load can both affect supply, so a charged laptop and hotspot are sensible.

05

When are exams held, and what do Hardoi's seasons do to the study year?

The national dates first. Most IB Diploma candidates in India write in May and a few schools in November. Cambridge offers three IGCSE windows, February-March, May-June and October-November, while Edexcel offers January, May-June and October. Private entrants book a seat through an approved centre, likely in Lucknow or Delhi.

Seasons shape the day. Summers on the Awadh plain are hot and dusty, so lessons shift to mornings and evenings. Winter brings dense fog from December to January, which can slow roads and sometimes the whole household, making a morning slot unreliable. The monsoon from late June brings humidity and the occasional flood in low fields.

Festivals set the real gaps. Eid, Muharram, Holi, Dussehra and Diwali each take days, and Hardoi district's mixed community means two festival calendars run side by side. A mock scheduled the week after Diwali often loses time.

Work backwards from each paper: serious revision from about ten weeks out, and only timed practice in the last fortnight.

06

Where might a Pihani IB or IGCSE student study next?

  • Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi institutions via entrance exams
  • AIU equivalence for the IB Diploma
  • CUET-UG for central universities
  • UK, Canada, Australia and US pathways

Within Uttar Pradesh, the main destinations are Lucknow's universities and institutes, including the University of Lucknow, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University's affiliated colleges, King George's Medical University and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute, as well as institutions in Kanpur and Varanasi. Entry is mostly through CUET-UG, JEE, NEET and institutional tests, and IB students should read each year's notice before choosing subjects.

For the IB Diploma, the Association of Indian Universities provides an equivalence that most institutions respect; even so, every university keeps its own list of required subjects and minimum marks.

Abroad, both qualifications are familiar territory. British universities make offers on predicted grades, Canadian and Australian ones publish conversion tables, and American colleges read the Diploma next to test scores where those are asked for.

No tutor can promise a seat. What they can do is lift grades in the subjects a course demands, and the right time to plan is before Class 11 choices are locked.

07

What does a lesson look like when the tutor is hundreds of kilometres away?

A Class 10 student sits at a table in a Pihani lane on a winter evening, a shawl over the shoulders. The laptop shows a tutor in Delhi or Pune who asks first for the question that beat the student the night before. It goes onto the shared board; the tutor reads the working, stops at the exact line where it turned, and rebuilds only that step.

Two near-identical questions follow so the repair is tested, and a short timed problem closes the hour. Whatever was written is saved for revision, and a few lines reach the parents before bedtime.

In Maths, Analysis and Approaches suits students who relish algebra and calculus, while Applications and Interpretation suits those leaning toward commerce or biology. The sciences follow the same rhythm with extra care for the investigation: choosing variables, handling uncertainty, plotting results and concluding. Shared data sets replace apparatus.

After a few weeks the tutor can name the handful of topics that cost the most marks, and the remaining hours go there.

08

Which IGCSE tier and subjects should a Pihani student choose?

Think of a tier as a ceiling on the result. Extended unlocks the top grades and is the natural pick for a student who might carry the subject to IB Higher Level or A Level; Core is gentler and fits someone who needs a dependable pass. Within a school the teachers decide, whereas a private candidate states the tier on the entry form.

Maths is where the choice matters most. Extended Maths followed by Additional Maths leaves a student at ease with calculus when a Diploma course starts, while a student who struggles with algebra is usually better off with a clean Core grade than a shaky Extended one.

Subjects should follow the destination: Maths, Physics and Chemistry for would-be engineers, Biology and Chemistry for future doctors, and Economics, Business Studies and Accounting for those eyeing commerce, a popular choice among the district's trading families.

Cambridge and Edexcel are both well regarded, and the teaching simply follows whichever specification the entry names.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Pihani: your questions answered

Where can I find an IB or IGCSE tutor for Pihani?+

Online is the realistic answer. No one in Pihani or Hardoi that we could verify teaches these syllabuses, so we pair your child with a tutor from elsewhere in India who has already coached the same paper. You meet on video, on Indian time, and a tutor's home city makes no difference to the quality of the lesson.

Will a teacher visit our house in Pihani?+

No. House calls are arranged only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A Pihani family still gets private tuition at home, but the teacher appears on a laptop screen, and the two of them share a digital board in place of a notebook.

      How is the fee decided?+

Four factors move the figure: the programme, the level, the subject and how long the tutor has taught that specification. Higher Level Diploma Physics and Class 7 MYP Science therefore differ. You receive the amount in writing before agreeing to anything, and no travel or centre cost is added.

Is there any IB or IGCSE school close to Pihani?+

We could not confirm one in Pihani or Hardoi. Lucknow has private schools that advertise international programmes, though we could not verify a specific IB or Cambridge school to name, and Delhi NCR has many IB schools. Ask each school directly about its current programmes and admission terms.

Can a student from Hardoi district take IGCSE papers privately?+

Yes, as an external candidate. The exams are written at a Cambridge or Pearson centre that accepts private entries, probably in Lucknow or Delhi, while all the preparation runs online. Deadlines for entry fall well before each series, so ask the centre about fees and dates early.

Do we pay for the first class?+

No. It is a complete working lesson on a subject of your choice, and a parent can sit beside the student. If the pace or manner of the tutor does not suit your child, we offer someone else, and nothing is billed for the trial.

Will the tutor do the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay for my child?+

No tutor writes graded work. They can unpack the marking criteria, help turn a vague idea into a researchable question, check whether a method holds up and comment on a draft that the student wrote. The final IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay must be the candidate's own.

We speak Hindi at home. Will English-medium lessons be too hard?+

Most students settle in within a term. Exams are set in English, so teaching is too, but a tutor can restate a stubborn idea in Hindi when that helps, provided you mention it in your brief. Regular conversation with the tutor builds spoken confidence quickly.

What if the electricity or signal fails halfway through?+

Charge the laptop beforehand and keep a phone hotspot beside you, because fog and summer demand both affect supply in the district. Any lost minutes are made up in another slot, and the tutor still sends notes on the part that happened.

How hard is the jump from the UP Board?+

Smaller than parents expect. Content is rarely the obstacle; the surprises lie in how questions are worded and how much working an answer should show. Early classes work through command words such as justify and compare and then try real past questions marked against the official scheme.

At what age or class should tutoring start?+

Ideally with the course itself, which means Class 9 for IGCSE and Class 11 for the Diploma, since early weeks are when gaps cost least to repair. Starting later still helps: even six to eight weeks ahead of one paper can sharpen exam technique.

Which hours are easiest for Pihani households?+

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings suit most families. In winter, fog makes early slots unreliable; in summer, afternoons are too hot. Around Eid, Holi, Dussehra and Diwali, dates are fixed in advance so revision is not squeezed out.

How do parents find out whether lessons are helping?+

A short message follows every class, naming the topic, the strengths and the next tasks. Every few weeks a longer review measures your child against the grade being targeted. Parents are also welcome to join the trial lesson.

What if the chemistry between tutor and student is wrong?+

Say so and we introduce another tutor at no cost. Many pairings fail on pace or manner rather than ability. Because nobody signs up for a fixed term, you may also pause for exams and resume later.

Is IB Gram tied to any school or examining body?+

No tie exists. IB Gram operates independently, and where the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or a named school appears on this page it is to state a fact. To ask for a trial, email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp.
