IB and IGCSE Tutors and Private Online Tuition in Pernampattu

Private tuition at home in Pernampattu, for IB and IGCSE students, now means a live one-to-one lesson at your own table with a tutor who has taught the exact syllabus. The road to Vellore is 45 kilometres long, and this way nobody has to travel it for a Maths or Chemistry class.

  • Lessons are live and online, so no tutor and no student ever makes the 45-kilometre trip to Vellore
  • Tutors are shortlisted by syllabus rather than by general subject, so your child meets someone who has taught this very paper
  • You watch a free lesson before any money is discussed

IB & IGCSE in Pernampattu

An international syllabus from the leather town on the Chennai and Bengaluru highway

Pernampattu, spelt Pernambut on most maps, is a municipal town in Vellore district with about 51,000 people at the 2011 census. It lies 45 kilometres from Vellore, 19 from Ambur, 18 from Gudiyatham and 32 from Vaniyambadi, and roughly 190 kilometres from Chennai and 180 from Bengaluru. Tanning, leather goods, glue and beedi units drive its economy, and the villages around it grow paddy, bananas, groundnuts and vegetables.

Schooling here runs through the Tamil Nadu state board, matriculation and CBSE, mostly in Tamil and English medium. Directories list no IB or Cambridge school in Pernampattu, and the closest we could confirm are two schools teaching Cambridge IGCSE in Vellore. For a family that wants a recognised international syllabus without sending a child away, private online tuition is the practical bridge, and IB and IGCSE tutors in Pernampattu can now reach a student by video.

The word home deserves care. Tutors from IB Gram do not come to houses in Pernampattu, since in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so each lesson is live and online with the same tutor on the same weekday evening. The arrangement keeps what parents like about home tuition, attention on one child, a fixed timetable and a written note afterwards, while dropping the commute to Vellore or Ambur.

We coach, and we do not ghost-write. Every IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay and piece of coursework stays the student's work from the first line to the last, and the tutor's role is to explain the criteria and respond to drafts. IB Gram answers to no board, exam body or school named here.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Pernampattu school years

A Pernampattu family meets these programmes at a distance, through a school in Vellore, Chennai or Bengaluru, or through a cousin's child. Here is what each stage involves and where our tutors usually step in.

PYPNursery to Class 5 (age 3 to 11)

IB Primary Years Programme

Children learn through six big themes, such as how the world works and how we organise ourselves, and finish the stage with a group Exhibition in the last primary year.

In a town where Tamil and Urdu are spoken at home, PYP tutoring leans on English conversation, story reading and learning to ask why in a full sentence.

MYPClasses 6-10 (age 11 to 16)

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject areas are linked by key concepts and real-world contexts, progress is judged against written criteria, and a Personal Project closes the stage.

Tamil Nadu's state-board classes reward precise textbook answers, so MYP tutoring spends the early weeks on explaining reasoning and on reading the criteria aloud.

DPClasses 11-12 (age 16 to 19)

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects from different groups, at least three at Higher Level, sit beside a core of Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, with results released in July or January after the May and November examinations.

The nearest Diploma schools are far away, so a Pernampattu student usually meets the Diploma through a boarding place or a move, and a tutor helps with level choices and stops the Extended Essay becoming a last-minute panic.

CPClasses 11-12 (age 16 to 19)

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma courses are combined with a career-related study chosen by the school, a reflective project and language development.

Leather, footwear and small-business careers are local realities, but CP is uncommon in India and no school offering it near Pernampattu has come to our notice.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Pernampattu school timetables

All three formats are online, since tutors do not visit homes in Pernampattu and in-person teaching is confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. The difference lies in how the time is used: steady weekly study, a burst before an exam series, or preparation for a move to another school.

A steady weekly lesson

The same tutor every week at a fixed hour, worked examples on a shared screen and a note for parents afterwards.

  • Evening slots after school and tuition
  • A fixed day the family can plan around
  • Extra sessions before school tests
  • Plain-language notes after each lesson

A focused run before an exam series

A stretch of sessions ahead of the IB May papers or a Cambridge or Edexcel series, built on past questions, mark schemes and a review of every lost mark.

  • Paper-by-paper calendar agreed early
  • Timed practice under exam conditions
  • Mark-scheme language taught directly
  • Rest days kept around Eid and Pongal

A bridge to another school or board

For students moving to an IB or IGCSE school in Vellore, Chennai or Bengaluru, or adding IGCSE subjects beside the state board.

  • A diagnostic lesson to find the gaps
  • Academic English practice alongside content
  • A sensible order for moving subjects across
  • Summaries the new school's teachers can use

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Pernampattu

01

Does Pernampattu have an IB or IGCSE school, and what is the nearest?

No IB or Cambridge school turned up for Pernampattu itself. Directories show the nearest confirmed IGCSE teaching in Vellore, about 45 kilometres away, at The Geekay World School and Springdays International School, and neither offers the IB Diploma. Chennai, roughly 190 kilometres away, and Bengaluru, roughly 180, hold the real depth of IB schooling for this part of the south.

Gudiyatham, 18 kilometres away, has a CBSE residential school in the directories but no IB or Cambridge campus, and we have not found one in Ambur or Vaniyambadi either. Treat this as a snapshot, since schools add programmes over time, and the quickest check is always the IB's own school list or Cambridge's school finder.

What does this mean day to day? A daily commute to Vellore is 45 kilometres each way, too long for a teenager with homework, so the choice becomes boarding, relocating or staying put. Many families prefer to stay, add IGCSE or IB-style subject tutoring to the school the child already attends, and decide about a move when the child reaches Class 10 or 11.

If you do look at Vellore, ask each school in writing which years and subjects it teaches for Cambridge and whether any IB programme is planned. Do the same in Chennai and Bengaluru. Tutors can work with whichever route you choose, including a part-year arrangement before a move.

02

Who in the leather belt asks for IB and IGCSE tuition?

Mostly business families, doctors and teachers who want a child to be at ease in English, comfortable with international universities and free to pick a career beyond the home town. Leather and footwear firms sell into wider markets, and some owners expect the next generation to study business, chemistry or design elsewhere before returning.

Second come professionals tied to Vellore's hospitals and colleges and to employers in Chennai and Bengaluru. They know how different a Tamil Nadu state-board class and a Cambridge or IB class feel, and they tend to ask careful questions about tiers, subject choices and what a child can study next.

Third are parents who want a safety net. A child may be enrolled in a state-board or CBSE school yet be thinking about A Levels, study abroad or universities that value the IB, and online IGCSE or IB tutoring lets the family test that ambition cheaply before deciding about a move. Families with relatives working abroad form a fourth group, and they often begin with IGCSE English, Maths or Science to see whether the style suits their child.

03

Tamil Nadu State Board, Matriculation, CBSE, IGCSE and IB: where does each one lead?

Each leads somewhere different. State board and Matriculation routes lead to Tamil Nadu's own college admissions and to national entrance tests, CBSE does the same with a national syllabus, IGCSE leads to A Level, the IB Diploma or Class 11, and the IB Diploma opens direct applications abroad and equivalence-based entry in India.

In Tamil Nadu, Class 10 and Class 12 end in public examinations in spring, and the state syllabus rewards precise recall of the textbook. CBSE's board exams follow a similar calendar with NCERT books at the centre.

IGCSE and IB papers are built differently. They give marks for method, for explanation in full sentences and for applying ideas to situations the textbook never showed, so a student strong in the state syllabus may still lose marks for style. Changing style is a matter of practice with real past papers, not of talent.

04

How does pricing for IB and IGCSE tuition work for a Pernampattu family?

  • Specialist subjects and Higher Level courses cost more to staff
  • More sessions a week raise the monthly figure
  • Teaching from scratch takes longer than revision
  • Nothing is added for distance or for living outside the town

Through a written quote, not a price list. Three inputs set the figure: the subject and level, the sessions per week, and how much of the syllabus is still unfamiliar to the student. It reaches you before the free trial so you can compare it with any other plan.

Think of it as three dials. The first is specialism: IB Higher Level Chemistry or IGCSE Additional Mathematics needs a rarer tutor than a general English lesson. The second is intensity, meaning sessions per week and their length. The third is stage, because a student starting a topic from nothing needs more hours than one polishing timed-paper technique before a May or November series.

Two costs that other arrangements carry do not apply here. There is no travel, because nobody commutes to Vellore or Ambur, and there is no premium for living outside the town centre. A lesson lost to a power cut or a network drop moves to another day in the same week.

When weighing alternatives, compare what a student actually receives. A crowded batch in a bigger city may cost less per hour yet offer a fraction of a tutor's attention, while a one-to-one lesson at home usually gets more done in each hour.

05

Online tutor, Vellore coaching, Chennai or Bengaluru boarding, or self-study: what makes sense?

It depends on the gap to close. Self-study covers a disciplined student's practice, Vellore coaching helps for state-board and entrance subjects, boarding in Chennai or Bengaluru gives a full IB or IGCSE classroom, and an online tutor brings the exact syllabus to a student who stays at home.

Vellore has coaching for NEET, JEE and board subjects, and it does that well. What it rarely has is a teacher who has prepared students for Cambridge Extended Maths or IB Higher Level Biology, and a 45-kilometre journey each way makes a weekly class expensive in time.

Online tutoring solves the matching problem, because the tutor can come from any part of India as long as they know that exact code. Its limits are practical: a student needs a steady connection, a quiet place and the discipline to do questions between lessons. A trial lesson is the cheapest way to learn whether the format suits the child.

06

What do summer heat, the northeast monsoon, Ramzan and Pongal do to the Pernampattu study year?

They shift the best hours and the quietest weeks. Summers are hot, with the hottest month reaching about 39 degrees, rain arrives heavily around September and again with the northeast monsoon, Ramzan moves about ten days earlier each year, and Pongal and Deepavali divide the school term into blocks. The plan adapts to each.

In April and May the afternoon heat makes study hard, and that is when the IB May papers and the Cambridge and Edexcel summer sessions take place, so lessons shift to dawn hours or the cool of the night. During Ramzan, for families observing the fast, sessions move to after iftar or to a short, quiet slot and run shorter than usual.

September rain and the northeast monsoon from October to December can bring flooded lanes and power cuts. School holidays cluster around Pongal in mid-January and around Deepavali in autumn, while Eid-ul-Fitr and Bakrid follow the lunar calendar. The written plan notes those dates and keeps those weeks light.

A study year in Pernampattu
Stretch of the yearWhat the town is doingWhat changes in the plan
January to MarchPongal, the public-exam season for Classes 10 and 12, rising heatMock papers, calm evening slots and revision blocks
April to JuneSummer heat near 39 degrees, the IB May session, Cambridge and Edexcel series, school holidaysEarly-morning or late-evening lessons and shorter sessions
July to SeptemberA new school year and heavy September rainSteady teaching and spare slots for power cuts
October to DecemberNortheast monsoon, Deepavali, the November IB session, half-yearly examsResits, results review and lighter festival weeks
07

Where can a Pernampattu student go after IB or IGCSE?

  • IB Diploma: Class 12 equivalence and CUET-UG registration
  • IGCSE: a stepping stone that needs A Level, the IB or Class 11 after it
  • JEE, NEET and Tamil Nadu counselling rules change and deserve a yearly check
  • Leather technology, chemistry, design and business are natural local routes

Across India and overseas. The IB Diploma is accepted for Indian admissions through equivalence and CUET-UG, IGCSE must be followed by A Level, the Diploma or Class 11, and overseas universities read both qualifications without difficulty.

Within reach are Vellore's VIT and Christian Medical College, Thiruvalluvar University, and a wide choice in Chennai and Bengaluru. Students from leather families often look at chemistry, chemical engineering, leather technology, footwear design, commerce and business degrees, all of which can follow an IB or IGCSE-then-A Level route.

For engineering and medicine, read the current JEE, NEET-UG and Tamil Nadu counselling notes for international boards each year, because document rules and subject requirements change, and the state's own admission processes may ask for extra certificates.

Overseas, a strong Maths or Chemistry result helps with engineering and science, while Economics or Business Management suits management courses. Pick the target degree first, then choose Higher Level subjects to fit it.

08

Choosing between IB Maths AA and AI, and teaching sciences without a school lab: how does it work?

We choose the Maths course from the degree, then teach the sciences through data and reasoning, not recall. AA suits engineering, physical science and economics, while AI suits commerce, design, geography and psychology. Practical work is adapted to home materials, simulations and open datasets.

In Maths, the difference from a state-board class is how working is judged. IB papers give method marks, expect tidy notation and ask students to explain in words. We train that from the first session, with timed questions and self-marking against the official scheme.

Chemistry and Physics are where practical gaps appear. Students without a laboratory can still run real investigations through simulations, open datasets or safe kitchen experiments, and the tutor coaches design, data handling and evaluation while the student collects and writes up their own results.

Biology leans on data interpretation and extended answers. We practise command terms such as describe, explain and evaluate, and help students choose Internal Assessment topics that can be completed at home, such as enzyme activity with fruit juices or water quality from a nearby source.

09

Which IGCSE tier and subjects suit a Pernampattu student?

Choose Extended (Cambridge) or Higher (Edexcel) for any subject the student may continue, and Core or Foundation only for subjects that will end at Class 10. Core and Foundation cap the grade, and A Level, the IB and many universities assume Extended content.

We let a diagnostic decide. A few Extended-level questions in the first fortnight show whether errors come from knowledge, method or misreading, and the answer tells us whether a student should aim for Extended now or build towards it.

For subjects, a student from a family business might pair Mathematics with Accounting, Economics and Business Studies. A future doctor or engineer should keep Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate courses rather than a combined one, and a design-minded student can add Design and Technology, where local leather and footwear offer genuine project ideas.

Where we tutor

Pernampattu town, the highway belt and nearby places we support online

With lessons online, what matters on the map is timing: how far a student would otherwise travel, when work and school finish, and where the heat or the rain interrupts. Messages reach us from these parts of the town and its surroundings.

Pernampattu town centre

The market and residential core of the municipality, where traders, teachers and leather-business families live within a few streets of each other.

Tannery and industrial belt

The working edge of town, where work hours can be long, so lessons are fixed for a time the student can keep independently.

National highway corridor

The road that links Vellore with Bengaluru, used for school buses and coaching trips, where a journey costs a student hours each week.

Pallikonda

A nearby village, with farming families and a short bus ride into Pernampattu that online lessons make unnecessary.

Ambur side

Ambur, 19 kilometres away, is part of the same leather-and-trading belt, and students there sometimes travel for tuition that can now be taken at home.

Gudiyatham side

Gudiyatham is 18 kilometres away, with a CBSE residential school listed in directories but no IB or Cambridge campus.

Vaniyambadi side

Vaniyambadi, 32 kilometres away, belongs to the same tannery region and shares the question of where to find an international syllabus.

Vellore side

Forty-five kilometres away, with CMC, VIT and two Cambridge IGCSE schools, so families often weigh day places or weekday boarding there.

Farm villages around the town

Paddy, banana and groundnut villages, where study hours bend around irrigation, harvest and the bus timetable.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Pernampattu

Pernampattu and the Gudiyatham division

Directories list no IB or Cambridge school in Pernampattu, and the one school listed for Gudiyatham is CBSE only. State board, matriculation and CBSE cover local schooling.

    Nearby: Vellore

About 45 kilometres away, this is the closest city where we could confirm schools teaching Cambridge IGCSE. Neither school offers the IB Diploma, and most families treat a place there as a boarding decision.

    • The Geekay World School
    • Springdays International School, Eraivankadu

    Nearby: Chennai

Roughly 190 kilometres away by the highway, Chennai has a wider spread of IB and Cambridge schools and is where families look for a full Diploma classroom.

    • APL Global School
    • Gateway International School

    Nearby: Bengaluru

About 180 kilometres away, Bengaluru has one of the largest international-school sectors in the south, and some Pernampattu families weigh it for boarding or relocation.

    • Canadian International School
    • Stonehill International School

IB Gram is independent and answers to none of the boards or schools named below. Schools are listed to show where international syllabuses are taught around the region, not to recommend them, and we name none in Pernampattu because none could be confirmed as teaching the IB or Cambridge.

Will a tutor visit our home in Pernampattu?+

No. Every lesson is live and online, because in-person home visits are confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What you get is the core of home tuition, a single tutor, a fixed weekly time and full attention on your child, without a journey to or from Vellore, Ambur or anywhere else.

Is there any IB school near Pernampattu?+

Not one we could confirm. The closest schools we verified teaching Cambridge IGCSE are in Vellore, about 45 kilometres away, and IB schools are concentrated in Chennai and Bengaluru. If someone names a nearer school, ask to see its entry in the IB's school directory before you plan around it.

    Can a child from a Tamil-medium school take IGCSE?+

Yes, and it is more common than people think. The real hurdle is academic English rather than the medium of the earlier school. Tutors start with a diagnostic, teach each subject's vocabulary as it arises and drill writing answers in whole sentences, and IGCSE English as a Second Language can be taken early if that helps.

How much will tutoring cost us?+

There is no fixed price. The quote reflects the subject, the level, the weekly sessions and the amount of unfamiliar material, and we send it in writing before the free trial. Because no one travels, living outside town adds nothing, and a session interrupted by a power cut simply gets a new slot.

Will power cuts or a weak internet connection stop lessons?+

They can interrupt a session, but they need not derail a plan. Video works on a steady connection rather than a fast one, and we test yours in the trial. A phone hotspot is the fallback, and a missed session moves to another slot that week.

    Do lessons pause during Ramzan?+

They adapt rather than stop. For families observing the fast, sessions move to after iftar or to a short, quiet slot, and the plan is lightened around Eid-ul-Fitr and Bakrid. The written plan lists these adjustments so the tutor and the family agree in advance.

Which IB subjects do students here ask for?+

Maths and the three sciences lead, followed by Economics, Business Management, English and Computer Science. Because of the leather trade, Design Technology and Environmental Systems and Societies also draw interest, and Tamil, Urdu and Hindi requests come from students who want a home language examined.

Can IB or IGCSE help a student who wants to join the family leather business?+

Indirectly, yes. Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Design Technology and Chemistry build skills a growing firm needs, and an international qualification lets a student study business or technology elsewhere before returning. A tutor helps choose subjects that fit that plan.

What does a private candidate need to sit IGCSE papers?+

An approved exam centre that accepts private entries, registration by its deadline and the fees it charges. Centres in larger cities are the usual choice, and dates vary by series. IB Gram does not register candidates, but tutors prepare the student paper by paper for whichever centre is used.

How far will a tutor go with the IA or Extended Essay?+

As far as coaching, never writing. The tutor explains the criteria, discusses research questions, reviews the student's drafts and points out weak reasoning. Everything submitted must be the student's own, because exam bodies treat ghost-written work as malpractice.

Do you tutor PYP and MYP students?+

Yes. PYP tutoring builds English fluency, number sense and curiosity through short sessions, and MYP tutoring supports subjects and the Personal Project. Both use shorter, more frequent sessions than the Diploma and come with parent notes to match.

    When should we begin?+

As early in the course as possible, meaning IGCSE from Class 9 and the Diploma from Class 11, with a bridging term before any move. If exams are close, we concentrate on past papers and technique instead of teaching everything from scratch.

Can a student move from the Tamil Nadu state board to the IB?+

Yes, through a school that offers the Diploma, usually in Chennai or Bengaluru, which decides its own admission terms. Tutoring in the year before the move concentrates on English, Maths and the sciences so the first term is not a shock. IB Gram does not arrange admissions.

Do Tamil Nadu colleges accept IB and IGCSE students?+

Often with extra paperwork. IB Diploma holders need equivalence and other documents for state counselling, and rules differ between engineering, medical and arts courses. IB Gram does not control admissions, so confirm the current notices of the relevant authority early.

Do tutors teach in Tamil or Urdu?+

Lessons are given in English, because both qualifications are examined in English. If a student would feel more at ease with a tutor who also speaks Hindi or Tamil, tell us and we will try to match. Tamil, Urdu and Hindi can also be tutored as subjects.

What do we get from the first free lesson?+

A live lesson on a real topic from the syllabus, with no fee and no obligation. You see how the tutor explains and how your child responds, and a short note follows on strengths, gaps and a proposed plan. You can continue, try a different tutor or stop.
