IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Patur

Patur is a shrine-and-cave town in Akola district, in the cotton country of Vidarbha, and no school here is confirmed for the IB or IGCSE. Home tuition for these boards therefore means a private live lesson over video: your child at the family desk, a subject specialist in another Indian city who has taught the same syllabus before.

  • Teachers with prior experience of your exact IB subject or IGCSE code
  • Everything in Patur is online; tutors do not visit homes outside Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • Written notes after every class, and a replacement tutor if the first is not right
  • A free trial class, then a rate on paper

IB & IGCSE in Patur

Patur, Shah Babu's town in Vidarbha, and online IB and IGCSE help

Patur is a municipal council town in Akola district, built around the dargah of the 13th-century saint Shah Babu, a shrine with parts that date to the 14th and 16th centuries. Nearby are the Patur Caves beside the Patur-Balapur road, a Jama Masjid built in 1726, and the Vitthal Rakumai, Khadkeshwar and Renuka Mata temples. The town marks Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April with a large procession and keeps Dussehra, the Kavad Yatra and Eid as shared occasions.

Schooling reflects that mix. Tulsabai Kawal Vidyalaya, founded in 1914, Vasantrao Naik High School, Savitribai Phule High School and the Urdu-medium Shah Babu High School and Junior College are among the town's institutions, and Dr. H. N. Sinha College offers higher study. All follow the Maharashtra State Board. We could not confirm any school in Patur that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, so we name none as local.

Questions about these boards still reach us, from families who have a child in a Nagpur or Pune school, from parents employed by the agricultural university or the district administration who may be transferred, and from households with relatives in the Gulf or the UK. IB Gram teaches such students online. A laptop, a notebook and a shared whiteboard connect your child to a tutor in India who has taught the syllabus before. No tutor visits Patur, because in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

IB Gram is independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school on this page. Tutors explain, correct and advise; they never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Patur school years

Hardly any Patur child meets the IB at the school gate. It comes through a decision: a seat in Nagpur or Pune, a transfer in the family, or a plan for university overseas. What follows describes each stage of the programme and the point at which a tutor makes the biggest difference.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised around big ideas, explored through questions, small projects and a closing Exhibition, with no exam paper. A tutor builds the base: comfortable English reading, number fluency and the knack of describing a discovery in a few sentences.

A young child from Patur preparing for a city campus normally needs only short, friendly sessions to make English conversation feel natural.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Teachers grade against criteria across eight subject groups, and the personal project calls for months of independent work. A pupil from a Marathi or Urdu-medium classroom often knows the facts and must learn to evaluate evidence and explain reasoning in English.

MYP entrants from Akola district usually begin with science write-ups, humanities source questions and planning the personal project.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Students study six subjects, three or four of them at Higher Level, along with the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. The ceiling is 45 points, the written papers fall in May or November, and coursework deadlines arrive earlier in the second year.

A Diploma student from Patur typically studies in Nagpur or Pune and uses online lessons at home during Diwali and the long summer break.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP combines Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective core. Very few Indian schools offer it, and its Diploma courses are marked to the same standard as in the full programme.

Requests for CP from Vidarbha are rare; if one comes, the Diploma subjects are taught as for any DP candidate.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Give us the subject, the level and the exam session and we look for a teacher who has handled that course. Maths shows the problem: two courses exist, each at Higher and Standard Level, and a tutor who excels at one pairing can be wrong for another.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions, algebra and proof. Students from state board classrooms have the techniques; lessons add an explicit written argument.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Modelling and statistics on a graphing calculator, using Vidarbha data such as cotton prices, soybean yields and summer temperatures.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and modern physics, with constant attention to units, uncertainty and graphs.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Amounts of substance, energetics, equilibrium and organic chemistry, with the data booklet from the first week.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A broad syllabus learned through spaced revision; cotton genetics and dryland crops give lively examples near the Akola agricultural university.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams and evaluation, with cotton procurement, farm debt and small-town trade as local material.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case studies, operations and finance tools, and the internal research project, helpful for ginning, trading and transport families.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Close reading of unseen texts and the oral commentary, for students who think in Marathi or Urdu.

IB Marathi B

HL / SL

Comprehension, writing and speaking for fluent Marathi speakers.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Language skills and oral practice for students with Hindi or Urdu at home.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Computational thinking, data handling and a project built in stages.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems models using heat waves, groundwater depletion and cotton's water demand as grounded cases.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Resources, hazards and development, with drought and agrarian distress a natural focus.

IB History

HL / SL

Source evaluation and essay planning, with the region's Sufi shrines, 1726 mosque and Ambedkarite movement offering rich local context.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies, methods and structured essays.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Two boards, not one, set IGCSE papers. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel differ in layout, tier names and the wording of questions, so the tutor must know which one applies. The subjects below are those Patur families request most.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580)

Core / Extended

Two kinds of paper, one allowing a calculator and one not; Extended candidates focus hardest on algebra, graphs and trigonometry.

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606)

Grade 9-10

A first look at calculus and functions before IB Maths HL.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A (4MA1)

Foundation / Higher

Two papers of equal weight, where showing method earns marks.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625)

Core / Extended

Forces, energy, current and waves, plus rehearsal for the paper that replaces lab practicals.

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry (0620)

Core / Extended

Building blocks of matter, bonding, reaction rates and carbon chemistry.

Cambridge IGCSE Biology (0610)

Core / Extended

Cell structure, transport, genes and ecosystems.

Cambridge IGCSE ESL (0510)

Core / Extended

Four-skills English for pupils from Marathi, Urdu or Hindi-speaking homes.

Cambridge IGCSE First Language English (0500)

Grade 9-10

Composition and directed writing.

Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science (0478)

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, networks and data representation.

Cambridge IGCSE Urdu as a Second Language (0539)

Grade 9-10

A natural choice for students from Urdu-medium homes, where the board offers it.

Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies (0450)

Grade 9-10

Business structures, marketing and finance, close to many family firms.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Patur school timetables

All Patur teaching is online. Families choose the rhythm that fits home life, and three patterns are common.

A weekly slot with one teacher

The same hour each week with the same tutor. Doubts come with the student, fresh topics are explained and mistakes are corrected on the shared page as they happen.

  • A teacher matched to your syllabus
  • Around an hour, one or two nights a week
  • Written work visible on camera
  • Suits IGCSE, MYP and DP

A term plan with clear notes

A plan for the term, a short note after each class, and a call with parents every few weeks so topics can be reshuffled.

  • Notes for parents who have not met the IB before
  • Calls that prevent surprises
  • Fits alongside school and other classes
  • More revision before class tests

A burst before the papers

Ahead of mocks and the May or November series, lessons become timed past papers, each followed by detailed correction.

  • Scripts scored as an examiner scores them
  • Up to four sessions a week if home life allows
  • Planned away from Eid, Dussehra and Diwali
  • Ideally begun three weeks before paper one

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Patur

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Patur or Akola district?

Not one that we can confirm. Patur's schools, from Tulsabai Kawal Vidyalaya to the Urdu-medium Shah Babu High School, follow the Maharashtra State Board, as do most others in Akola district. A school that advertises the IB or IGCSE locally should show its authorisation and this year's subject list in writing before any fee is paid.

Families who want an international board therefore look to Amravati, which has a Cambridge-linked school, to Nagpur, where several international campuses are found, or to Pune and beyond. Some parents move a household to the new city, some use boarding, and others wait until Class 9 or 11.

Entrance tests, age limits and fee scales differ from school to school, and Class 9 and Class 11 are the years in which seats are scarcest. A farming or trading household has a lot riding on a move, so it makes sense to test the child's readiness first.

Online tutoring offers that test. While still at the local school, a Patur child can try the IGCSE or MYP style, receive plain comments from a tutor who has taught the course and help the family decide on better evidence.

02

How do the State Board, CBSE, IGCSE and IB compare for Patur families?

Class 10 SSC and Class 12 HSC come from the Maharashtra State Board in February and March, in Marathi, Urdu, Hindi or English, and CBSE sits in the same months. IGCSE and IB papers fall mainly in May and November and pay as handsomely for explaining and applying as for remembering.

Students from Patur's schools tend to be disciplined and accurate. International papers add rewards for stated units, defined terms, justified steps and compact sentences, so the early weeks of tutoring work on how to write the reasoning rather than on new content.

Language needs a plan of its own. Homes here speak Marathi, Urdu or Hindi, sometimes more than one, and the papers are in English. Numbers and experiments cross the language gap fast once command words are known; longer writing takes more time.

Choose the board by the road ahead. MHT-CET, JEE or NEET routes run more smoothly on the state board or CBSE; a Diploma seat, a private university or a degree abroad runs more smoothly on IGCSE and then the Diploma.

03

What goes into the price of IB or IGCSE tuition in Patur?

  • Level of the course, from IB Higher to IGCSE Foundation
  • Subject, and the years the tutor has taught that syllabus
  • Weekly sessions and the length of each
  • A steady plan, or a burst before the exams

Because every child differs, we publish no price list. The written quote that follows the free trial reflects four things: how demanding the course is, the subject, the tutor's years on that exact syllabus and the weekly hours you ask for.

A tutor of IB Physics at Higher Level brings different depth from a tutor of IGCSE Foundation Maths, and rates follow the gap. A veteran may charge more by the hour and still finish the work in fewer sessions, so the hourly figure tells only half the story.

Studying on screen keeps other costs down: no bus fare to Akola or Nagpur, no days lost to the road, and no rented room near a city school before a decision is made. In a district where family income follows the cotton crop, those savings matter.

Sit the trial, read the quote and set it against what you spend now. If a poor harvest or a transfer changes your circumstances, the plan can be paused or switched.

04

Online tutor, coaching in Akola, a local tutor or self-study?

Akola has a lively coaching market for board exams, MHT-CET, JEE and NEET, and its agricultural university and medical college draw many students. Those classes are not built for IB Internal Assessments or Cambridge paper codes, so an IB or IGCSE student may sit among classmates on other courses.

Patur has no shortage of private tutors, and many are excellent at school subjects. What they lack is practice with IB or Cambridge papers, which is hardly surprising where no international-board school exists.

A child who works alone on past papers can go far in IGCSE Maths and the sciences. Essays and coursework are different, since nobody is there to name the criterion that lost the marks.

A private class on video brings a subject specialist to the study table. Its one requirement is a connection that holds, so for cotton villages with weak coverage we settle a fallback plan before the first session.

05

How do Vidarbha's heat, cotton season and festivals shape the study year?

Akola district is among the hottest places in Maharashtra. In April and May, daytime temperatures often pass 43 degrees, afternoons are unfit for study, and power cuts become likely. We schedule lessons for the evening or late night and ask families to tell us when electricity is steadiest.

The monsoon arrives around mid-June and can be uneven. Cotton is picked from October into December, and soybean is harvested in October, so adults and older children may spend long days in the fields. A fixed lesson slot that does not depend on a parent at home keeps the routine.

Eid, Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April, Dussehra, Diwali and the Kavad Yatra are shared occasions in Patur, with processions, visits and travel. Dussehra and Diwali land beside the Cambridge autumn series and the IB November exams, so revision should be done before them.

Winters are mild and dry, which makes them ideal for long consolidation sessions. February and March bring SSC and HSC, and the house goes quiet.

06

Where do IB and IGCSE students from Patur go next?

Inside Maharashtra, Patur students head for Akola, Amravati, Nagpur and Pune, where Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, VNIT Nagpur and Pune's colleges are familiar. Each college sets its own admission rules, which change from year to year.

Anyone applying to an Indian university with IB or IGCSE results should first check whether it needs an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate, which converts those results into Class 12 terms. Diploma holders may also try CUET-UG for central universities. The rules are revised from time to time, so rely on the current notice.

Engineering and medicine call for planning at the subject-choice stage, since MHT-CET, JEE and NEET name the subjects they expect and state-quota seats carry domicile rules. Read them before choosing.

Universities in Britain, Canada, Australia and the Gulf are familiar with IB and IGCSE transcripts, and American colleges consider them alongside test scores and essays. Tutors help with academic subjects only; personal statements stay with the applicant.

07

Where do bright students lose marks in IB Maths and the sciences?

In IB Maths, the method is read first and the final answer last. A lone correct value may earn little; a clear approach with a small slip still earns most of the marks. The Analysis and Approaches course leans on algebraic proof, while Applications and Interpretation leans on testing a model against data and interpreting the result.

Both Maths courses finish with an Exploration, a mathematical study chosen by the student, worth one fifth of the final grade. A tutor can help trim an overlarge idea and notice weak spots in the mathematics. The investigating, the thinking and the writing must still be the student's.

Science marks leak in different places. Physics students forget units, leave graph axes unlabelled and explain vaguely. Chemistry students skip stages in long calculations. Biology students misread the command word, when describe, explain and evaluate are really three separate tasks.

Stamina is common among students from small towns. A good tutor turns it into accuracy through timed papers marked against the official mark scheme.

08

Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher: choosing an IGCSE tier

Entering the wrong IGCSE tier caps the result. On the Cambridge side, Core means C is the highest grade; Extended allows A* and A. Pearson works the same way: Foundation stops at 5 while Higher continues to 9. Anyone expecting IB Maths HL or sciences at Diploma level should enter the higher tier.

Normally the entering school or centre decides the tier. A private candidate who chooses should sit a timed practice paper and accept the result honestly, raising any borderline mark with the centre before entries close.

Subjects should follow the aim. Prospective engineers take Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science; those from farming and trading families may prefer Business Studies; Urdu, Marathi or Hindi lightens the timetable where the school allows it.

Before the first class, pin down the board, the syllabus code and the exam series, since preparation differs paper by paper.

Where we tutor

Patur and the Akola district towns we teach online

A class on video feels the same near the dargah or along a village road. The day around it varies: the bus to Akola, the cotton picking, the afternoon heat and the evening power supply. The notes below describe how families in each pocket tend to fit in study.

Patur town centre

The market area around the dargah and Jama Masjid; many households are in trade, so lessons start after shops close.

Shah Babu Dargah area

The shrine precinct, crowded during its annual urs and on festival days, when lessons are best moved.

Patur Caves road

The stretch along the Patur-Balapur road past the caves, with homes and small businesses.

School and college lanes

The area near Tulsabai Kawal Vidyalaya, Dr. H. N. Sinha College and the Urdu high school, busy at school start and end.

Villages around Patur

Cotton and soybean settlements where mobile data is the main connection and picking season occupies every adult.

Balapur

The neighbouring town on the highway, with its own mix of weavers' and farmers' families.

Akola

The district headquarters nearby, home to the agricultural university, a medical college and the larger coaching centres.

Washim and Buldhana side

Vidarbha towns to the south and west, with similar farming and trading households.

Amravati

The divisional city to the east, with a Cambridge-linked school listed on our Amravati page.

Nagpur

The big city to the east, where families look for the nearest IB campuses.

School ecosystem

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Patur: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Patur?+

None that we have been able to verify. Patur's schools, many of them Urdu or Marathi medium, teach the Maharashtra State Board syllabus, and the nearest international-board campuses are in Amravati and Nagpur. If a school claims otherwise, ask for its authorisation and the current subject list before paying a fee.

Can I get IB home tuition in Patur?+

Patur families get home tuition through a screen. Your child works at the family desk, a specialist sits in another Indian city, and the hour is live, private and one to one. Tutors never travel here; visiting students in person is something IB Gram does only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, and we say that before you pay anything.

Do you have IGCSE tutors for Cambridge and Edexcel in Akola district?+

Both are on our list, and every class is held live on IST hours. We pair by paper code and tier, for instance 0625 Physics or 4MA1 Mathematics A. Give us the board, the subject and the sitting you are aiming for, and the tutor we propose will already have taught that paper.

Will a tutor come to our house in Patur?+

Our teachers do not come to Patur. Visiting at home is restricted to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Patur the class takes place over video: a laptop or tablet, steady internet and a quiet corner are enough, and the teacher follows your child's handwriting on a shared digital page.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Patur?+

A tutor's fee is shaped by four facts: the demand of the course, the subject, how long the tutor has taught it, and how many sessions a week are wanted. We therefore wait until after the free trial and send a written quote, which is simple to compare with your tuition bills and your Akola bus fares.

    Is the first lesson free?+

Yes: one complete taster class with the suggested tutor costs nothing and binds you to nothing. If you want more, the rate arrives in writing and no booking happens until you have read and accepted it.

My child studies in an Urdu-medium school. Can IB or IGCSE work?+

It can work, provided language comes first. Maths and science answers translate well once English command words such as justify, compare and deduce are understood; extended writing takes longer. Tutors begin with subject vocabulary and paragraph structure, and parents frequently see a change within a month.

Can lessons be arranged around Eid, Dussehra and the Shah Babu urs?+

Yes. Tell us the dates your family keeps and we plan around them, with short sessions in busy weeks and extra time before and after. Late-evening slots often suit households that have guests or travel during festivals.

How do you handle extreme summer heat and power cuts?+

We schedule lessons for the evening or late night and ask families which hours electricity is steadiest. Keep a phone hotspot and a charged laptop ready. If a class stops early, the tutor writes up what was covered and the rest is taught on another evening.

What can a tutor do for an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

Tutors here are readers and challengers. A draft research question gets tested with the query 'how could you check that?'; a draft essay gets a list of the marking criteria it still misses. What a tutor will not do is write sentences, invent data or repair the argument, because the IB assesses the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay as the candidate's own independent work.

Which of the two IB Maths courses is better for my child?+

Let the intended career decide. Would-be engineers, physicists and mathematicians tend to prefer Analysis and Approaches, the calculus-and-proof course. Future economists, psychologists, designers and managers tend to prefer Applications and Interpretation, the statistics-and-modelling course. The school makes the final allocation and we teach what it gives.

    Class 9: IGCSE or CBSE?+

Imagine your child at eighteen. If the picture shows an engineering or medical entrance test, the state board or CBSE is the shorter road. If it shows a Diploma classroom, a private campus or a foreign university, IGCSE is the better preparation. The trial class lets you talk this through with a tutor who knows both.

Is our home internet good enough?+

Home broadband or decent mobile data can carry a video call and an online board. Try a test call the day before. Where village coverage drops, sessions are shortened and the written summary afterwards is made fuller.

Can a child from a cotton-farming family manage the fees?+

Rates are agreed in writing, and nothing is prepaid for long periods, so a family can pause after a poor season and restart after the harvest. Many choose one weekly class in lean months and add sessions before exams. Tell us your situation and we plan accordingly.

    How do we start?+

The simplest start is a WhatsApp message to +91 7439 368 115, or an email to support@ibgram.com, listing the class, board or programme, subject and school. You will receive a tutor's name and a suggested trial time, and the choice to carry on is yours alone.

To begin, message us the class, the board and the subject that worries you most. We reply with a tutor who has taught that course and offer a free taster class. Only if the taster convinces you does a fee enter the conversation. Since the teacher is in another Indian city and the classroom is a laptop screen, no trip to Akola or Nagpur is needed. Our email is support@ibgram.com and our WhatsApp is +91 7439 368 115.
