IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Pathri

A family in Pathri who wants home tuition for an IB or IGCSE course will not find a local teacher of it, so the lesson comes through a screen instead. IB Gram pairs the student with a tutor who has taught that very syllabus and runs a live, private session at home, followed by a short written summary for the parents.

  • Tutors picked because they have taught your child's own IB or IGCSE course
  • All teaching is by live video; no tutor visits a home in Pathri
  • The first lesson costs nothing
  • Independent of every school, exam board and university named here

IB & IGCSE in Pathri

What private IB and IGCSE tuition at home means in Pathri

Pathri is a municipal town of about thirty-seven thousand people in Parbhani district, on National Highway 61 some forty-three kilometres west of Parbhani city. It has a ruined medieval fort, a number of Sufi shrines, temples at Gunj-Khurd and Pedgaon, and a dry, cotton-and-soybean economy typical of Marathwada. Schools here teach in Marathi, Urdu and English under the Maharashtra state board, and we could not confirm any that teach the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE syllabus.

So when we say home tuition in Pathri, we mean online lessons given to a child sitting at home. The tutor lives in another Indian city; the student has a laptop, a notebook and a quiet table. Nobody travels. In-person visits by our tutors are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, and we say so because families deserve to know before they enquire. The advantage is that a Pathri household is not limited to a short local list and can ask for someone who has taught Standard Level Chemistry or Extended Mathematics more than once.

The enquiries we get from this part of Marathwada tend to follow a pattern. A parent has been posted to a bank, irrigation office or sugar-and-cotton business here after years in Pune, Mumbai or the Gulf. A relative in the UK or Canada has urged the family to keep a child on an international track. Or a student is preparing for a boarding school or an international day school in a larger city and wants a head start with the syllabus.

IB Gram is an independent tutoring service with no tie to the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson or any school. Tutors explain and coach; they do not write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, Theory of Knowledge essays or coursework for any student.

At a glance

  • One-to-one live lessons for IB PYP, MYP and Diploma and for Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE
  • Online only in Pathri; home visits are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A short written report after every session
  • Tutor replacement if the match is not right
  • Fees agreed in writing before the first paid lesson
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Pathri school years

In Parbhani district an international programme is almost always a choice made at home rather than at the neighbourhood school. Here is how each IB stage looks when the tutor, not a classroom, carries the course.

PYPAges 3-12, Nursery to Class 5

IB Primary Years Programme

Children explore big ideas through units of inquiry and finish with an Exhibition. A tutor's work is mostly early literacy, mental arithmetic and encouraging questions.

A Pathri parent asking about PYP usually has a child who started it in Pune or Mumbai and wants the habit of inquiry to survive a posting to a smaller town.

MYPAges 11-16, Class 6 to 10

IB Middle Years Programme

Work is judged against published criteria and the final year ends with a Personal Project. The skill being built is explaining reasoning clearly, not only reaching the answer.

Because no MYP class exists nearby, the tutor does the translating: what each criterion means, and what a top-band response looks like in practice.

DPAges 16-19, Class 11 and 12

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects, plus the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS. Final exams and school-marked assessments together produce the Diploma score.

Marathwada families asking about the Diploma are usually thinking of medicine, engineering or study abroad, so Mathematics and the sciences dominate the requests.

CPAges 16-19, Class 11 and 12

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma courses are combined with a career-related qualification and a reflective project, a route for students with practical or vocational aims.

No school around Pathri is known to offer the Career-related Programme, so our contribution is to the academic courses within it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Pathri school timetables

Three setups cover most Pathri families. In each, the lesson itself is a live private video session; the difference is the reason it is booked and the rhythm it follows.

A steady weekly slot

The same tutor at the same time each week, working through the specification with marked homework in between.

  • Works for IB, IGCSE and MYP subjects
  • Shared digital whiteboard in every class
  • Written homework photographed and corrected
  • Builds trust with one tutor over a school year

Alongside a Maharashtra board school

For a child in a local state-board or CBSE class who studies an international course in the evening or at weekends.

  • Planned around school unit tests and the SSC cycle
  • Only the international syllabus is taught
  • A monthly note for parents
  • Good preparation for a later move to Pune or a boarding school

Exam-season intensive

A compact block of lessons built round timed papers, marking and revisiting the weakest topics.

  • Past papers marked against mark schemes
  • Recurrent errors written down and re-tested
  • Begins four to six weeks before the exam
  • Scheduled around Ganesh Chaturthi and Diwali

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Pathri

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Pathri or nearby?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Pathri or Parbhani district
  • Local choice is state board, plus some CBSE
  • Pune holds the nearest established IB schooling
  • Check the official IB and Cambridge directories for new approvals

The short answer is that we could not confirm one in Pathri or elsewhere in Parbhani district. The schools you will pass on NH 61 are state-board institutions, some Urdu-medium, some English-medium with CBSE affiliation, and junior colleges that feed into the Maharashtra HSC examination and the MHT-CET.

This is not unusual for Marathwada. The region's international schooling is concentrated in Pune, Mumbai and a handful of campuses in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and families who want an IB or Cambridge programme for a child either relocate or arrange tuition at home. For Pathri, with its dry-farming economy and a population drawn to trade, government service and agriculture, online tutoring is the realistic middle path.

Some families are linked to the educational and agricultural institutions in Parbhani. Others are traders who keep a base in Mumbai or Hyderabad. A few are returning from the Gulf, where schools use the British or American curriculum, and they want the child to continue the same syllabus without losing a term in a new classroom.

Because school authorisations change, please check the IB and Cambridge directories before assuming no campus exists near you now.

02

Maharashtra board, CBSE, IB or IGCSE: how do they differ for a Pathri student?

The Maharashtra state board is the default in Pathri. It is taught in Marathi, Urdu and English, assessed at SSC in Class 10 and HSC in Class 12, and ties directly to MHT-CET for engineering and pharmacy. CBSE is available in a few schools and aligns with JEE, NEET and CUET. IB and IGCSE are rarer but travel better if the family might relocate.

The difference most parents notice is the style of question. State board papers reward accurate recall of textbook content. CBSE asks for more application. IGCSE and IB hand students unfamiliar data and ask them to reason. The IB Diploma adds an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and a service component, so its workload is broader.

None of the four is automatically better. A Pathri student heading for Indian medical or engineering colleges may find the state board with strong entrance coaching the most direct path. A student who may move abroad, or who thrives on explanation-based assessment, may do better in IGCSE or IB.

A common bridge is IGCSE in Classes 9 and 10 and then an IB Diploma, A Levels or CBSE in a larger city. We map the overlap so nothing is missed.

03

What does IB or IGCSE private tuition cost in Pathri, and what sets the rate?

  • Rate depends on level, subject, tutor and frequency
  • Written quote before the first paid class
  • The first lesson is free
  • No travel costs for the family

We quote in writing after a free first lesson rather than publishing a list, because two families asking about the same subject can have very different needs. The rate follows who teaches, what level is taught and how frequently, and it is fixed before any paid session starts.

Level and subject matter first. IB Physics HL or IGCSE Additional Mathematics draws on a smaller group of experienced tutors than a primary-years reading class. The tutor's experience with your child's exact specification counts too, as does the schedule: a calm weekly pattern costs less over time than a short, intense burst before mock exams.

A Pathri household also saves on things that never appear in a rate card. There is no bus fare to Parbhani, no half-day lost on the highway and no premium paid to a teacher for making the trip to a smaller town. The kit needed is a laptop, a stable connection and a table.

If the budget is limited we can suggest a focused plan, for instance twice-a-month sessions on the weakest topic and weekly lessons only in the term before exams.

04

How does online home tuition compare with coaching classes and local tutors?

Coaching classes in Parbhani and Pathri are built for MHT-CET, JEE and NEET, not for IB or Cambridge papers. They offer routine and company but little knowledge of command words, markbands or tier choices. A local private tutor may be dedicated and affordable, yet seldom has marked an IGCSE script.

An online tutor from IB Gram has taught the syllabus before and can annotate real past papers on the shared screen. The student is at home, so the journey that costs an hour on the highway disappears. The trade-off is that self-discipline matters more, and that a power cut or weak connection can interrupt a class.

We plan for that by agreeing a fallback early. A phone hotspot, a rescheduled slot or a recording of the whiteboard keeps the week on track.

Plenty of families mix approaches: online tuition for Mathematics and sciences, a local tutor for Marathi, self-study for the rest.

Exam sessions and the Pathri school year: when does what happen?

IB Diploma exams are held in May with results in July, and some candidates sit in November. Cambridge IGCSE runs February-March, May-June and October-November series; Edexcel IGCSE runs January, May-June and October-November. A private candidate from Pathri registers through an approved centre, usually in a larger city, months before the series, so the timeline should be fixed at the start of the year.

Marathwada's calendar adds its own pressures. May and early June can be intensely hot and dry, so afternoon study is hard and lessons shift to the morning. The Ganesh festival in September, Dasara and Diwali in October or November, and Eid and Ramzan in their respective months each interrupt the calendar for different households.

The monsoon is patchy in the region, which affects farm incomes and sometimes family budgets, and in drought years some families trim spending. A flexible plan helps.

For a student sitting papers in May, we work backwards: finish the content by February, then past papers through April, then light review in the final fortnight.

06

Which universities can IB and IGCSE students reach from Pathri?

  • IB Diploma: AIU equivalence, CUET-UG, direct entry abroad
  • IGCSE: bridge to Class 11, A Level or IB Diploma
  • NEET and JEE: confirm subject rules each year
  • Shortlist universities by the start of Year 12

An IB Diploma opens universities in the UK, Canada, Australia, the United States and Europe, and the Association of Indian Universities treats it as equivalent to Class 12 for admission, subject to conditions. Indian central universities admitting through CUET-UG consider IB students like other candidates, subject to each course's subject requirements.

For medicine and engineering inside India the rules are more detailed. NEET-UG and JEE Main both demand particular subjects at the senior level, and an IB student should check that Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics are among the six. IGCSE finishes at Class 10 and leads into Class 11 in any board, the IB Diploma or A Levels.

Local students also ask about Maharashtra institutions: universities in Pune and Mumbai, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and colleges in Nanded and Parbhani for those who intend to remain in the region. Private universities often accept international qualifications on their own terms.

A tutor can help with subject choice and predicted-grade planning but does not write personal statements or application essays.

07

How are IB Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught online?

Mathematics gets the first conversation. Analysis and Approaches is for students who enjoy algebra, functions and calculus and is common for engineering aspirants. Applications and Interpretation suits business, economics and life-science plans because it centres on data and modelling. Higher Level in either needs several hours of independent work every week.

The Mathematics Exploration is the internal assessment. The tutor helps a student choose a topic that is manageable, understand the criteria and rehearse explaining the method aloud. The student writes the work, does the calculations and draws the conclusions.

In the sciences, a board and a pen are enough for most of the course. The Individual Investigation needs experimental design, and without a nearby laboratory a tutor can still guide the question, uncertainty analysis and data presentation over video, while the student does the practical at home or at school.

Typical trouble spots recur. Chemistry students slip on organic pathways and equilibrium; Physics students on units and graphs; Biology students on loose wording. Each class takes one such weak spot, tests it and corrects it.

08

IGCSE Core, Extended, Foundation or Higher: which tier and subjects?

Cambridge IGCSE splits many subjects into Core and Extended, Edexcel into Foundation and Higher. Core and Foundation cap the grade, while Extended and Higher open the top grades. A student aiming for A Level sciences, IB Diploma or a competitive degree should plan for the upper tier from the start.

Typical subject sets for a Pathri student: Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and English for engineering ambitions; add Biology for medicine; Business Studies and Economics for commerce. Most students take five to eight subjects.

Many families run IGCSE alongside a Maharashtra board school, with lessons in the evening and papers sat as a private candidate. It is workable but demanding, so starting in Class 8 or 9 is wiser than starting in Class 10.

We check progress each term with a diagnostic paper and adjust the tier decision on evidence.

09

How do online lessons work when the tutor is in another city?

The first step is a free trial. You tell us the class, board, subject and exam date, and we suggest a tutor. The trial shows whether the pace and style suit the child and whether the technology behaves.

In a normal lesson the tutor and student see each other on video and share a digital whiteboard. The student writes answers, photographs the notebook page and sends it for marking. After class, the parents receive a written note covering the topics, the strengths and the homework.

If the tutor is wrong for the child, we replace them. If the time slot does not work, we reschedule. Tutors are in India and teach on Indian Standard Time.

You need only a laptop or tablet, a headset if the room is noisy and a connection that holds a call.

Where we tutor

Pathri and Parbhani district areas our online tutors serve

Lessons happen on a screen, so none of these places needs a tutor to travel. The notes below record how schooling and daily routine in each area shape lesson timing.

Pathri town

The municipal centre on NH 61, where most families are close to school and private classes; evening slots after tuition suit them.

Gunj-Khurd

A neighbourhood of the town known for its Datta temple; many households here balance school with family business hours.

Pedgaon

A nearby village known for its Renuka Devi temple, where specialist-subject teaching is hard to find locally.

Manwat

A town on the rail and road route towards Parbhani, with students who often commute to larger schools.

Sonpeth

A taluka town to the south-west where choices for senior-school science are limited, making online study attractive.

Selu

A town in Parbhani district north of Pathri with its own mix of government and private schools.

Parbhani city

The district headquarters about forty-three kilometres east, home to Marathwada's agricultural university and the wider district's coaching culture.

Gangakhed

A Godavari-side town south of Pathri with families who sometimes look to Nanded or Parbhani for secondary schooling.

Sailu

A smaller town in the district where school options end early, so students often study privately beyond Class 10.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Pathri

Pathri and Parbhani district

Schooling is mainly state board with Marathi, Urdu and English media, plus some CBSE options. We found no IB or IGCSE campus, so international syllabuses are studied at home with an online tutor.

Nearby: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) and Nanded

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, about 150 kilometres away, is the biggest city in Marathwada and Nanded about 114 kilometres. Neither is confirmed here as an IB or IGCSE campus, so we name no schools.

      Nearby: Pune

Pune is the nearest large metro with established IB schooling, and families sometimes consider moving or boarding there. Online tutoring can prepare the student before and during the transition.

      • Mahindra United World College of India, Paud

No school in Pathri is listed here as an IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school because none could be confirmed. The institution named under Pune is mentioned only to describe what some families consider; it has no connection with IB Gram.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Pathri: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors in Pathri?+

Yes, as online one-to-one tutors. Each is matched to your child's course, and lessons run by live video into the student's home in Pathri. No tutor visits homes in Pathri; home visits are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. You begin with a free trial lesson.

Do tutors come to my home in Pathri?+

No. Our tutors do not visit homes in Pathri or elsewhere in Maharashtra. In-person home visits are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Pathri we provide online home tuition: the child studies at home on a laptop while a tutor teaches by live video.

Does Pathri have an IB or Cambridge school?+

We could not confirm one in Pathri or Parbhani district. Local schools follow the Maharashtra state board, with a few CBSE options. The nearest established IB schooling is in Pune. Please check the official IB and Cambridge directories for any new approval.

How much will IB tuition cost for my child in Pathri?+

The cost depends on level, subject, tutor and weekly frequency, so there is no fixed list. After the free trial we send a written quote. Because everything is online, you save on travel to Parbhani or elsewhere, and exam-season blocks can be priced separately.

Can my child do IGCSE while studying in a state board school?+

Yes. Many students attend a local school and study an IGCSE course in the evenings online, sitting exams as private candidates. It is a heavy commitment, so it is better to begin in Class 8 or 9 and to choose a small number of subjects.

Should we choose Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE?+

Both are respected worldwide. Cambridge offers a wider list of subjects and three sessions yearly, while Edexcel is common in Mathematics and sciences with a different question style. The deciding factors are the exam centre available to you and the subject mix.

Will tutors help with the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

Tutors coach and explain, and they can review drafts against the published criteria. They never write or rewrite an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or any coursework. Students must submit their own work to protect the validity of their results.

Is IB Maths AA different from AI?+

Yes, they are two separate courses. Analysis and Approaches stresses algebra and calculus; Applications and Interpretation stresses data, modelling and technology. We assign a tutor who has taught the one your child is studying, at the right level, HL or SL.

What device and internet do we need?+

A laptop or tablet with a camera, a connection that holds a video call, a notebook and a quiet place. A phone helps for sending photos of written work. If the connection is unreliable, we agree a hotspot or recorded back-up beforehand.

Can lessons run in the hot months of May and June?+

Yes. Many families use those weeks to get ahead. Because Marathwada is very hot in this period, lessons are usually placed in the early morning or the evening, and the load can be lighter during festival weeks or when the family travels.

Can my child move from the Maharashtra board to IB later?+

It can be done, most smoothly after Class 8 or Class 10. We compare syllabuses, fill gaps and prepare the child for the IB style. A move into the Diploma needs a school that offers it, such as one in Pune, and tutoring helps in the months beforehand.

Are you part of the IB, Cambridge or Pearson?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service with no link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school mentioned on this page. We are not an exam centre or an admissions agent. We provide teaching and exam preparation.

How do we enter IGCSE exams as a private candidate?+

Entries go through an authorised centre, normally in a large city, several months before the series. Fees and deadlines vary by centre. We explain the timeline and subject codes, and the centre submits the entry on your child's behalf.

What if my child does not like the tutor?+

Tell us and we change the tutor at no cost. We ask what felt wrong, such as pace or style, and propose someone different, with another short trial if you want one. A good fit matters more than continuity.

Can we choose late evening or weekend slots?+

Usually yes. Tutors work on Indian Standard Time and many offer early-morning, late-evening and weekend sessions. Tell us your family's routine, including shop hours or travel days, and we will build the schedule around it.

      How do I start?+

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 7439 368 115 or write to support@ibgram.com with the class, board, subjects and exam date. We reply with a tutor suggestion and a time for the free trial, usually within a day.
