IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Narora

For a Narora student on the IB or IGCSE, private tuition at home means a live, individual video lesson at the family desk with a specialist based in another Indian city. Narora, on the Ganga in Bulandshahr district, is the home of the Narora Atomic Power Station and its township, whose children move between postings and need a syllabus that moves with them.

  • Specialists who have already taught the very IB subject or IGCSE paper
  • Narora lessons are online; tutors do not visit homes outside Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A short written recap after each class, and a different tutor if the fit is poor
  • A free trial class, then a quoted rate before you commit

Narora on the Ganga: IB and IGCSE support for a township that keeps moving

Narora sits on the upper Ganga in Dibai tehsil of Bulandshahr district, a town of about twenty-three thousand people in the 2011 census. It has two defining features. One is the Narora Barrage, which regulates the river and lies within an 82 km Ramsar-listed stretch of the Upper Ganga that shelters the Ganges river dolphin. The other is the Narora Atomic Power Station, operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India, whose staff form a township of engineers, scientists and technicians.

The township's children study at the Atomic Energy Central Schools, which follow CBSE and go up to Class 12. Atomic energy families are transferred between stations in distant parts of India, sometimes posted abroad, and a few parents ask whether an international board such as IGCSE or the IB would suit a child who may change cities, or countries, more than once. Outside the township, families in the Narora area work in farming, small trade and the services that cluster around the plant.

We could not confirm any school in Narora that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, so we name none as local. For this reason IB Gram teaches Narora students online. A laptop, a notebook and a shared whiteboard link the child to a tutor in India who has taught the syllabus before, and the teaching continues unbroken if the family is transferred. No tutor visits Narora, because in-person tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

IB Gram stands apart from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson, NPCIL and every school on this page. Tutors explain and correct. They do not write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP, plus Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, all taught online
  • Lessons follow a transferred student from one posting to the next
  • A trial class with no charge before any fee is discussed
  • Nobody visits the house in Narora; doorstep tuition is available only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Narora school years

In Narora the IB tends to arrive as an option for a mobile family, a long-term plan for a degree overseas, or a school change after a transfer. The notes below describe each stage and where tutoring fits.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Children study big ideas through themed units, with questions, small investigations and a final Exhibition rather than exams. Tutors strengthen reading fluency, mental arithmetic and the habit of explaining a finding aloud in a few sentences.

A younger child from the Narora township may need only a few short sessions to move from a CBSE central school classroom to an inquiry-led one.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Teachers mark against stated criteria, and tasks, projects and a personal project count alongside tests. A CBSE-trained child is usually well prepared in content and benefits from practice at planning, evaluating and reflecting in writing.

Narora students joining MYP after a transfer often need extra help with investigations, extended answers and the personal project.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three or four at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. The maximum score is 45, exams are held in May or November, and internal assessments are scheduled long before.

Diploma students linked to Narora usually study in a bigger city or abroad while the family stays on station, and online lessons keep subject support going over holidays.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP pairs Diploma courses with a career-related qualification and a reflective core. Very few Indian schools run it, and the Diploma courses it contains are examined to the full Diploma standard.

We seldom hear about CP from Bulandshahr district; if asked, we teach the Diploma subjects as for any DP candidate.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Give us the subject, level and exam session and we look for a tutor who has taught that course. Maths shows why: IB runs two courses, each at two levels, and a specialist in one pairing may not be right for another.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, algebra and proof. Atomic-sector households often produce students who like abstraction; lessons add rigorous written justification.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Modelling and statistics with a graphing calculator, with data sets such as river discharge and reactor-site rainfall.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and, for HL, nuclear physics, where students may have an unusual head start from living beside a power plant.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Moles, energetics, equilibrium and organic chemistry, with the data booklet from lesson one.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A large syllabus handled through recall and command-word practice; Ganga dolphin habitat makes a vivid ecology case.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams and evaluation, with energy pricing, public-sector employment and sugar-belt agriculture as local examples.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study analysis and the internal research project.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Unseen-text analysis and the oral commentary, for students who think in Hindi.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Comprehension, writing and speaking for fluent Hindi speakers, handy for a posted family.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and a staged project.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems models with Ganga barrage management, river dolphins and energy choices as grounded cases.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Rivers, hazards and resources, with Ganga flood behaviour as a clear example.

IB Design Technology

HL / SL

Design cycle, materials and the practical project, a natural match for engineering families.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies, methods and structured essays.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel both run IGCSE, with different paper structure, tiers and wording. A tutor must know the board your child will sit. These are the subjects Narora families ask about.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Narora school timetables

Everything for Narora is online, which suits a family that may be posted elsewhere. What changes is the rhythm, and three patterns are common.

One steady class each week

A single tutor at a fixed time. Problems come with the student, the next topic is taught and mistakes are fixed on the shared page.

  • Tutor matched on subject, level and exam board
  • Roughly an hour, one or two evenings weekly
  • Handwriting shown on camera or tablet
  • Works for IGCSE, MYP and DP

A plan that travels with the family

A term plan and written notes after each class, kept the same when a transfer moves the household to another station or city.

  • Same tutor before and after a posting
  • Time-zone and schedule adjustments agreed in advance
  • Notes that a new school can read
  • Review calls each few weeks

A sprint before the papers

As mocks and the May or November sessions approach, lessons turn into timed past papers with detailed correction.

  • Scripts marked as the examiner would
  • Up to four sessions a week when the home allows
  • Planned around flood alerts and festival days
  • Ideal start three weeks before paper one

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Narora

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Narora?

We found none that we can confirm. The main schools in the township are the Atomic Energy Central Schools 1 and 2, which follow CBSE, and Class 12 is the highest level available locally. Elsewhere in the town, schools follow the UP Board or CBSE. Anyone told that a school offers the IB or IGCSE should ask for authorisation and a subject list for the current year.

Families who need an international board must look outward. Noida, to the north-west, has the closest cluster of schools with IB or Cambridge programmes. Delhi's schools take boarders and relocating families. Aligarh and Meerut have fewer such options, and some families send children to boarding schools in the hills.

Because of NPCIL postings, a Narora family may face a school change within a few years regardless. For them the question is not only where to study now but how to keep a syllabus going if the household moves. IGCSE and the IB, being international, travel better between Indian cities than most state syllabi.

Online tutoring does the same. The teacher who has helped a child through IGCSE Chemistry in Narora can carry on after a transfer to Kakrapar, Rawatbhata or Kaiga, if the family wishes, and the lesson notes follow the child.

02

How do UP Board, CBSE central schools, IGCSE and IB compare for a Narora student?

The Atomic Energy Central Schools use CBSE, with board exams in February and March at Classes 10 and 12. The UP Board holds its High School and Intermediate exams around the same months. IGCSE and IB sit mainly in May and November and ask students to apply and explain rather than only recall.

A CBSE central school student is usually well prepared in concepts and in structured answers. The jump to IGCSE or IB is smaller than from many boards, but there are new habits: command words, extended writing, data questions and, in the IB, internal assessment.

Language matters less than elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh, since central schools teach in English. Students from UP Board Hindi-medium schools will find the same shift as everywhere: Maths and science transfer quickly; essay subjects need longer.

The right board depends on the destination. A JEE or NEET seat favours CBSE. A Diploma place, a private university or study abroad favours IGCSE then IB, and a family that expects postings abroad may value the international portability.

03

What drives the cost of IB or IGCSE tuition in Narora?

  • Level: IB Higher or Standard, IGCSE Core, Extended, Foundation or Higher
  • Subject, and years the tutor has spent on that syllabus
  • Hours per week and the length of each class
  • Standing plan or short pre-exam push

Fees are not listed on our site, as each student needs something different. After the free trial you receive a written quote that reflects four things: the course level, the subject, the tutor's years on that exact syllabus and the weekly hours you choose.

Teaching IB Physics HL is a different task from coaching IGCSE Foundation Maths, and rates follow the depth of expertise required. A veteran tutor may charge more per hour but need fewer hours, so the hourly rate misleads if read alone.

Online delivery cuts other costs. There is no taxi to Aligarh or Noida, no weekend lost to travel, and no deposit for a room near a coaching centre. For a family on a government-sector salary with tuition already in the budget, this matters.

Take the trial, read the quote and compare it with current spending. If a transfer changes your circumstances, the arrangement can be paused or moved.

04

Online tutor, classes in Noida, a local tutor or self-study?

Noida has the biggest pool of IB and IGCSE teachers in the region, but it is a long road from Narora each way, and a school-age child cannot manage it weekly. Video brings a specialist of the same calibre to the home desk.

Local tutors in Narora and Bulandshahr are mainly set up for CBSE and the UP Board. Some are excellent teachers of physics and maths, a field many township parents know well, but few have taught IB Internal Assessments or Cambridge practical papers.

Self-study can work in IGCSE Maths and sciences for a disciplined child, especially one with scientist parents at home. Written subjects and coursework are harder to manage alone, as it is tough to see which criteria were missed.

One-to-one online lessons give specialist teaching and prompt feedback. They depend on a reliable connection, and the township's broadband generally supports it; villages around may rely on mobile data.

05

How do Ganga floods, fog and Kartik Purnima shape the school year in Narora?

The Ganga defines the local calendar. During the monsoon, barrage releases and heavy rain lift river levels, and low roads near the water can flood. Mobile networks may slow, and the township's staff sometimes work extra shifts. A plan for lessons should include a fallback.

Winter brings dense fog across the plains from December to January. Roads and trains slow down, and schools may start late. An evening lesson at home needs no travel, which is a practical advantage of online tuition.

Kartik Purnima, in October or November, brings crowds to the Ganga ghats for bathing and fairs along this stretch of the river, close to Diwali and to the Cambridge October-November and IB November sessions. Revision needs to be finished before the festivals.

Summers are hot, with loo winds in May and June, and power quality outside the township can vary. February and March carry the CBSE and UP Board exams, and households are quiet.

06

Where do IB and IGCSE students from Narora go next?

Within India, students from the area look to Delhi, Noida, Aligarh and Lucknow. Aligarh Muslim University, Delhi University, Jamia, the Noida and Greater Noida private universities and the IITs are familiar names. Each sets its own admission rules, which change from year to year.

Indian universities typically expect an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities before treating IB or IGCSE results as Class 12 marks, and Diploma holders can also try CUET-UG for central universities. Both rules are updated, so read the latest notice.

Engineering and medicine call for early thought, particularly in a family of engineers. JEE and NEET list the subjects they require, and a Diploma package without Physics, Chemistry or Biology may rule out a route. Check the eligibility pages before choosing subjects.

Abroad, British, Canadian, Australian and European universities read IB and IGCSE results routinely, and American colleges weigh them with tests and essays. Tutors help with academic subjects only.

07

Which parts of IB Maths and the sciences cost students marks?

In IB Maths, marks are given for the reasoning around an answer, so a bare correct number can score little. Analysis and Approaches rewards proof and algebra; Applications and Interpretation asks students to test a model and interpret its output.

Each Maths course includes an Exploration, a personal mathematical project that carries a fifth of the final grade. Tutors help to narrow the topic and check the mathematics; planning and writing stay the student's own.

Physics examiners deduct for missing units, careless graphs and vague wording, which matters for children who find the ideas easy. Chemistry rewards ordered calculations. In Biology, outline, explain and evaluate each demand a different depth.

Students from scientific households often reason well but write too briefly. A tutor encourages full sentences and complete working, using timed papers marked against the real mark scheme.

08

Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher: choosing the IGCSE tier

Cambridge's Core papers stop at grade C, whereas Extended papers go up to A*. Pearson's Foundation tier ends at grade 5 and its Higher tier at 9. A student hoping for IB Maths HL or science Diploma subjects should be on the upper tier.

In general the tier is allocated by a school or exam centre. Private candidates and others with a free choice can attempt a timed practice paper and judge the mark candidly; if it sits on the borderline, ask the centre before entry deadlines pass.

Pick subjects to match the destination. Future engineers take Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. Others may add Environmental Management or Economics. Hindi as a second language balances the load.

Confirm the board, syllabus code and exam series before the first lesson, as preparation differs paper by paper.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Narora: your questions answered

Is Narora the same as Naraura?+

Yes. Narora is the common spelling and Naraura appears in some lists. Both mean the Ganga town in Dibai tehsil, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, home of the Narora Atomic Power Station. This page covers it under both names, and all lessons are online.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Narora?+

None that we can confirm. The township has Atomic Energy Central Schools, which follow CBSE, and local schools follow CBSE or the UP Board. The nearest international-board schools are in Noida and the Delhi region. Ask any school claiming otherwise for its authorisation.

Can I get IB home tuition in Narora?+

What we run in Narora is home tuition by video: the child is at the family desk, the specialist is in some other Indian city, and the lesson is private and live. No tutor makes the journey. Doorstep teaching is a service for Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR only, a fact we explain before booking.

Our family may be transferred. Can lessons continue?+

Yes. Online lessons belong to the student rather than the address. When a posting moves you, the tutor keeps the same syllabus plan and notes, and we adjust the slot to the new school hours. Tell us the likely dates so that revision can finish before the move.

Do you have IGCSE tutors for Cambridge and Edexcel near Bulandshahr?+

Both boards are covered, with every class delivered by video in IST. Pairing is by paper code and tier: Cambridge 0620 Chemistry and Edexcel 4MA1 are typical requests. State the board, subject and exam series and the person we suggest will already have taught that paper.

Will a tutor visit our home in the Narora township?+

No. Home visits are confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Narora the lesson is a live video call, with a laptop or tablet, steady internet and a quiet corner, and the tutor reads the working on a shared digital page.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Narora?+

It depends on the course level, subject, tutor experience and weekly hours, so we publish no figure. The written quote follows the free trial and can be compared with your current coaching fees and travel to Noida or Aligarh.

    Is the first lesson free?+

It is. A complete trial class with the suggested tutor is given at no cost and no obligation. Only if you ask to go on do we send the rate in writing, and nothing is booked until you have read it.

My child studies at an Atomic Energy Central School. How big is the jump to IGCSE?+

It is moderate. CBSE central school students are usually strong in concepts, so the new skills are command words, written explanation and data questions. A few weeks of targeted lessons are generally enough to feel at ease with a first practice paper.

What help can a tutor give with the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

Support, not substitution. A tutor listens to a student's topic ideas, challenges the plan, reads what has been written and shows where the mark criteria are not yet met. Producing the text, the data or the argument is off limits, since the IB exists to assess what the candidate has done unaided in the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay.

How do monsoon floods and fog affect online lessons?+

Roads suffer in fog and floods; video calls mostly do not. Even so, keep a phone hotspot handy and share which hours are most dependable. If a session fails, a shorter call or another evening makes up the time, and written notes cover whatever was missed.

Which IB Maths course should my child take?+

Analysis and Approaches suits students aiming at engineering, physics or mathematics. Applications and Interpretation suits business, economics, psychology and design. The school and target course decide, and we teach whichever is chosen at the right level.

How do we choose between IGCSE and CBSE for Class 9?+

Think about the next step. If your child aims at JEE or NEET, CBSE is usually simpler. If the plan is the IB Diploma, a private university or study abroad, IGCSE prepares better. We talk through the trade-offs in the trial lesson.

What internet speed do we need?+

Home broadband or steady 4G handles video and a digital whiteboard. A practice call a day before avoids surprises. If reception is patchy, we shorten the class and make up the difference with a longer written summary.

    How do we begin?+

Getting started is quick. Tell us on WhatsApp (+91 7439 368 115) or by email (support@ibgram.com) the child's class, board, subject and school, and you will receive a tutor's name with a proposed trial time. After that, it is your decision.

    Flag of Narora

Plan IB or IGCSE lessons from Narora

A single message listing the class, board and the subject that needs work is enough to begin. We suggest a teacher who has handled that course, your child sits a free first session, and a fee is written down only if you choose to continue. The teacher is in another Indian city and the classroom is a laptop screen, which also means the lessons can follow you if the next posting comes. Email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp.
