IB and IGCSE Tutors and Private Home Tuition in Nanjangud

Searching for private tuition at home in Nanjangud for an IB or IGCSE student? Tutors do not travel to Nanjangud. The lesson arrives online instead, live and one to one, from a teacher who has handled the same syllabus code. Many families here sit between the Mysuru school belt, the Kapila riverside and the factory estate, and the first lesson costs nothing.

  • Each tutor is chosen for recent teaching of your child's own course and level, not for a broad profile
  • Every lesson is live on video; in-person visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • You get a short written note after each session, so progress is never a guess
  • IB Gram is independent of every school, board and exam body named on this page

IB & IGCSE in Nanjangud

A temple town with an industrial edge and an international syllabus

Nanjangud is known for the Srikanteshwara temple on the Kapila, its GI-tagged rasabale bananas and the factory estate on the Mysuru side. It is not known for international schooling, and a family here asking about private tuition at home for the IB or Cambridge IGCSE is usually doing something unusual on purpose. Classrooms in town follow the Karnataka State Board and CBSE, and we could not confirm any school inside Nanjangud as teaching the IB or an IGCSE syllabus.

The enquiries we see fall into a few patterns. A parent working at one of the plants near the industrial area has been posted from Mumbai or Hyderabad and wants a child kept on a familiar IB or IGCSE track. A Class 9 student is enrolled with an online school and needs a human teacher for Mathematics. Or a child boards at a residential campus and spends holidays in Nanjangud with work to catch up on.

Everything is taught over video. IB Gram is an independent service whose tutors live across India and work in Indian Standard Time. In-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so in Nanjangud private tuition at home means an online lesson at your own study table, one to one.

Tutors explain, demonstrate and mark. Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, Theory of Knowledge essays and coursework stay the student's own writing.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP, plus Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Plant-transfer families, online-school students and boarders home for the holidays
  • Private lessons from home on a laptop, with no tutor visiting your door
  • A free first lesson and a brief written plan if you decide to continue
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Nanjangud school years

Most parents in Nanjangud meet the IB through a brochure or an online portal, not a neighbour's child. The four programmes below are described as they typically turn up in this part of Mysuru district, in a household that may be running a syllabus without a nearby school to explain it.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Units of inquiry replace the usual subject-by-subject timetable, with children asking questions, researching and presenting. Literacy, number sense and curiosity are the real targets, and the last year closes with a student-led Exhibition.

In Nanjangud, PYP help is light and practical: reading aloud in English, number games and help preparing a unit presentation for a child whose school sits in another city.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups are assessed against set criteria, and students build a Personal Project across the final year. Marks reward explanation, reflection and applying a concept to an unfamiliar case.

Nanjangud MYP students usually need a steady weekly partner for criterion-style science write-ups and for Mathematics, since local worksheets rarely practise either.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three subjects at Higher Level, three at Standard, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Final papers sit in May, and classroom assessments contribute to most subject grades.

A Diploma student linked to Nanjangud is normally registered with an online provider or a school elsewhere, so the tutor may carry a subject for the whole two years.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma courses are paired with a career-related qualification, a reflective project and language study. It suits learners heading for applied fields, and only a few Indian schools run it.

The Career-related route is rarely available near Nanjangud, so our work sits on the academic courses underneath it when a student follows it remotely.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Every pairing starts with the course code, the level and the stage of the year, then moves to where the student loses marks. With no school next door to hold the syllabus, we ask at the outset what the next assessment deadline is.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Functions, calculus and proof, with attention to the long unfamiliar questions where Higher Level candidates lose most of their marks.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and finance on a graphic display calculator, where correct keystrokes are half the battle.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and modern physics, together with an investigation topic a student can test with what is at home.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Calculation fluency, equilibrium and organic mechanisms, reinforced by short daily problem sets.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Molecular biology through ecology, with careful work on command terms so answers hit what the question asks.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagram discipline and real-world application, with a current article chosen each fortnight for the commentary task.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study reasoning and a research project built around an actual local firm such as a mill, dairy or plant supplier.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and databases, plus coding hours for the internally assessed solution.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Approaches to behaviour, key studies recalled accurately and an experiment designed to be marked.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Analysis of unseen non-literary and literary texts, plus the spoken oral, practised aloud with a listener.

IB Kannada A

HL / SL

Literary study in the student's home language, with the analytical habits the IB expects and everyday fluency cannot supply.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Language acquisition built around speaking, reading and the written tasks for students who do not use Hindi daily.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems thinking with Kapila, Kabini and the Bandipur belt as ready local case material.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Knowledge questions debated from several angles, which a lone student needs a conversation partner to practise.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel cover similar subjects under different codes, tiers and paper styles. The first job is to confirm which board your child is registered with. Cambridge offers June and November sittings, while Edexcel adds January.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Algebra, geometry and statistics at the pace of the chosen tier, with marks for working as well as answers.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing and speaking practice for students who think in Kannada but write in English.

IGCSE First Language Kannada

Grade 9-10

For students whose exam centre offers it, reading and composition in the script.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Nanjangud school timetables

All lessons for Nanjangud families run online, one to one. What changes is the rhythm, from a steady weekly class to a short intensive during a school break or before an exam session.

Weekly one-to-one lessons

A fixed evening or weekend slot with one tutor, following whatever unit your child's school or online provider has reached.

  • One tutor throughout, so the pace is familiar
  • Shared whiteboard and past-paper practice
  • Works for PYP, MYP, DP and IGCSE
  • Shifted quietly if a temple festival or shift change intrudes

Holiday intensives

Compact blocks of daily lessons during a boarding term break or the long summer holiday, used to preview units and close gaps.

  • Built around the school's real calendar
  • Heavier than a weekly class for a short stretch
  • Summary notes can go to the school if you wish
  • Tapering to a light weekly check-in afterwards

Exam-series sprints

Timed papers, marked and explained, in the weeks before a May, November or January sitting.

  • Marked against the live mark scheme
  • Quick written feedback
  • Best started three weeks before the first paper
  • Adjusted around any local closure

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Nanjangud

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Nanjangud?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed inside Nanjangud
  • Mysuru holds the nearest confirmed Cambridge option
  • IB campuses are in Bengaluru, which means boarding or moving
  • Private online tuition covers what no local classroom does

We could not confirm any school inside Nanjangud as authorised for the IB or as teaching Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, and we will not name one we cannot verify. The town's schools serve a mix of State Board and CBSE students, with trust-run and religious-institution schools prominent because of the Suttur and Srikanteshwara traditions.

The closest confirmed international-curriculum school is I Can International School in Mysuru, which teaches Cambridge IGCSE. A little further along, De Paul International Residential School at Srirangapatna offers Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and Cambridge. For the IB itself, the realistic destination is Bengaluru, where campuses such as Stonehill and Trio World Academy run the programmes.

Because Mysuru is under half an hour away, some Nanjangud parents do consider a move into the city, or a rented home near a school there, once a child reaches Class 8 or 9. Others keep the family home and choose boarding.

The table shows what the map looks like, so a parent can judge distance before anything else.

How do Karnataka State Board and CBSE classes differ from IB and IGCSE?

  • Reasoning and method carry the marks
  • Practical skills are tested on paper
  • Kannada-medium students benefit from command-word practice
  • Recognition is broad in India and overseas

A Nanjangud child moving from a State Board or CBSE class into an international syllabus meets a change in the kind of answer rewarded. The SSLC and PUC papers ask for accurate recall of a set text. IB and IGCSE examiners give marks for showing a method, weighing two views, or carrying an idea into a case the student has not met.

Practical work is handled differently as well. IB Internal Assessments are set tasks marked on published criteria. IGCSE sciences assess practical skills in a written paper. Neither resembles a lab record book signed by a teacher, so students who are strong on content sometimes lose marks on format alone.

Language deserves a line. Kannada is the home language for most families, and State Board classrooms often teach in it, while IB and IGCSE papers are in English. The gap is rarely vocabulary alone. It is the pattern of extended writing, such as building a paragraph around a command word.

Both international routes are recognised by Indian and overseas universities.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition in Nanjangud cost, and what moves the price?

  • Level, session length and weekly frequency move the rate most
  • Experience with the exact specification affects it too
  • No travel charge because every lesson is online
  • The free trial comes first, with rates in writing before booking

We do not publish rates. Each quote is given in writing before any trial is booked, because the figure depends on the student's situation and not on where the family lives. The biggest factors are the level taught, since IB Higher Level Physics takes more preparation than IGCSE Core Biology, and how long and how often the sessions run.

Tutor depth matters as well. Someone who has taught your child's exact specification recently will cost more than a generalist, and is usually quicker at finding why a student is stuck. Being in Nanjangud carries no extra charge, because no one is travelling anywhere.

When a tutor carries an entire course for a student who has no school teaching it, sessions tend to be longer and more frequent than a top-up class. It is sensible to ask how many papers will be marked before the exam and how you will be told about progress.

There is no term contract. A family can pause for a school exam fortnight or a wedding and resume, and if the first tutor does not suit, a new one is introduced without a penalty.

04

Online tutor, coaching class, school teacher or self-study: what works in Nanjangud?

  • Local tuition is aimed at other exams
  • Self-study is strongest in Mathematics
  • A school teacher helps but may have a large class
  • An online tutor is the one route tied to your exact course

Nanjangud and Mysuru have plenty of tuition rooms, most of them built around SSLC, PUC, KCET and NEET. They do a good job at that and run big batches. None of them is likely to run a Higher Level Chemistry group for the IB or an Extended Mathematics class for Cambridge, because the numbers simply are not there.

Self-study has a real place. A disciplined IGCSE student can work through past papers in Mathematics with only occasional help. The IB is harder to teach oneself because so much depends on feedback, including the plan for an Internal Assessment and the structure of an essay.

A private online tutor who has taught the specification recently can stand where a school teacher would. The lesson is one to one, the pace follows the student and marked work returns within days.

The table lays the options next to each other.

How do festivals, monsoon and factory shifts shape a school year in Nanjangud?

  • The Rathotsava and Suttur jatra interrupt local routines
  • Monsoon releases from upstream can disturb riverside areas
  • Shift work affects when parents can supervise
  • Exam dates are set by the boards and do not move

The town's rhythm is set by its temple. The Nanjangud Rathotsava, known locally as the Dodda Jatra, draws large crowds in the cooler months, and roads near the temple are hard to use for a day or two. Suttur's jatra in January has a similar effect on the villages around it.

Weather is mostly gentle. The southwest monsoon runs from June to September, and heavy releases from the Kabini reservoir have in some years raised the Kapila and disturbed life near the riverbank. April and May are hot and dry, and power cuts can come at awkward hours.

Families linked to the industrial estate live by shift patterns, so a parent may be absent at the very hour a child needs help. Lessons are therefore booked around the child's own routine, with slack for the odd lost hour.

Board calendars do not move for any of this. IB Diploma papers begin in May, Cambridge runs May-June and October-November, and Edexcel adds January.

06

What can a Nanjangud student do after IB or IGCSE?

  • Mysuru institutions are within commuting reach
  • AIU equivalence and CUET-UG matter for Indian degrees
  • Check JEE and NEET subject rules before finalising choices
  • Predicted grades count heavily for overseas universities

Mysuru gives a Nanjangud student a short route to higher education. The University of Mysore at Manasagangotri, JSS Science and Technology University and the Mysore Medical College are all within reach, and Bengaluru's institutes are a bus ride away for those who can live there. Plenty of students use the Mysuru address as a base for both.

For Indian degrees, the Association of Indian Universities recognises IB and, with a Class 12 route, IGCSE. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) admits IB students to many central and state universities. JEE Main and NEET have their own rules on subjects and qualifying marks, so those planning engineering or medicine should check the current notices before choosing.

For overseas study, predicted grades drawn from mock exams and coursework are what admissions offices see first, so consistent work from the first term of Class 11 matters.

Tutors teach the subjects behind all of these and leave admissions advice to a school counsellor or a specialist.

07

How does IB Mathematics and Science tutoring work for a Nanjangud student?

  • Maths route chosen by destination, not by marks alone
  • Sciences covered topic by topic with timed questions
  • Investigations designed around what a home can measure
  • A written note follows every session

The Mathematics choice comes first. Analysis and Approaches suits students who like algebra, calculus and proof and want engineering or physical science. Applications and Interpretation leans on data, modelling and technology, and sits better with economics, psychology or business plans.

In the sciences, a tutor works through the guide topic by topic, sets past-paper questions in the current style and helps the student choose an investigation question that can really be measured at home. Kitchen chemistry, pendulum data, plant growth and freely available datasets have all produced sound investigations.

Lab access is the common gap. Students without a school laboratory plan practicals with simulations and recorded data, and the tutor checks whether the method would satisfy an examiner.

After each lesson a short note records what was done, the score on the latest question set and the next unit, so progress is visible to a busy parent.

08

IGCSE Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher: what should a Nanjangud family pick?

  • Tier sets the highest grade available
  • Extended or Higher suits students heading to IB Higher Level
  • A diagnostic lesson makes the decision evidence-based
  • Confirm an authorised exam centre early

Cambridge splits many subjects into Core and Extended, and Edexcel into Foundation and Higher. Core caps the grade at C, while Extended opens the whole range up to A*. The choice should be made early because Extended content cannot be learned in a fortnight.

A student aiming at IB Analysis and Approaches or Higher Level sciences should almost always take Extended, often with Additional Mathematics. Someone leaning towards Applications and Interpretation, or a humanities route, may take Core in a subject without penalty.

With no school to advise, a tutor's first diagnostic lesson shows what the student can already do, and the family chooses with that evidence in hand.

Registration is the practical hurdle. Candidates need an authorised centre, and the centre's own deadlines govern, so contact one well ahead.

Where we tutor

Around Nanjangud: where our online students live and study

Lessons are on a screen, so these places are background, not travel directions: where families live, which roads carry the school run and what interrupts an evening.

Nanjangud town near the Srikanteshwara temple

The busy old core where private schools and tuition rooms cluster; evening streets slow down noticeably on festival days.

Mysuru Road and the industrial estate side

Households linked to the plants and suppliers live along this stretch, and shift timings shape when a child can sit down to work.

Hullahalli

A village and commuter belt close to Nanjangud; power cuts and farm work set the pace of the day.

Kadakola

On the Mysuru road and near the airport zone; many parents here work in Mysuru and bring children in on the same commute.

Suttur

Home to the Suttur Math and its annual jatra, with a strong educational institution tradition of its own.

Thandavapura side

Towards Mysuru, sugarcane and coconut country where families travel to Mysuru for most schooling.

Badanavalu

A rural belt known for khadi; children often travel some distance to school, so evening study time is short.

Gundlupet road

Opens toward the Bandipur forest and Ooty, with small-town school options and long bus hours.

Mysuru city edge at Hinkal and Vijayanagar

Where many Nanjangud families keep a second address or plan to move so a child can attend a school of choice.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Nanjangud: your questions answered

Is there an IB school in Nanjangud?+

We could not confirm one inside Nanjangud. Local schools follow the Karnataka State Board or CBSE. The nearest confirmed international-curriculum schools are I Can in Mysuru, De Paul at Srirangapatna and several Bengaluru campuses. Families who want the IB while living in Nanjangud usually study through a boarding campus or an online provider and add a private tutor for each subject.

Can an IB or IGCSE tutor come to my home in Nanjangud?+

No, tutors do not visit homes in Nanjangud. In-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Nanjangud, private tuition from home means a live online lesson: your child sits at a desk with a laptop and a tutor teaches one to one in Indian Standard Time.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Nanjangud?+

Rates depend on the level, how long each lesson runs, how many lessons a week you want and how deeply the tutor knows the specification, and we quote them in writing before you book. There is no surcharge for living outside a metro. The free trial lesson comes first, so you see the teaching before any figure is agreed.

Which IGCSE schools are close to Nanjangud?+

I Can International School in Mysuru, about 23 kilometres away, teaches Cambridge IGCSE. De Paul International Residential School at Srirangapatna runs Edexcel IGCSE and Cambridge. Both are listed only as context. IB Gram has no connection with either, and you should check current curricula and admissions with the schools themselves.

Can a Kannada-medium student move to the IB or IGCSE?+

Yes, though English writing usually needs extra work in the first year. A tutor can read a sample of the student's written English and set short, targeted tasks around command words. Children who switch in Class 8 or 9 tend to adjust more easily than those who switch at Class 11, but a later start still works.

Which IB Diploma subjects do your tutors teach?+

Both Mathematics courses at HL and SL, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, Computer Science, Psychology, English A, Kannada A, Hindi B, Environmental Systems and Societies and Theory of Knowledge. If your subject is not on the list, ask, and we will say honestly whether we have a tutor with the right background.

Do you help with the MYP and PYP?+

Yes. MYP support covers criterion-based writing, science reports, Mathematics and the Personal Project, in a coaching role only. PYP support is lighter and centres on reading, number work and preparing for the Exhibition. For children who board elsewhere, short blocks during the school holidays are the usual pattern.

Will the tutor write my child's Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors explain the criteria, help a student narrow a workable question, read a plan and give honest feedback on drafts. The research, writing and analysis remain the student's own, as the IB requires. This holds however close a deadline is.

Which IGCSE boards and subjects are covered?+

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel, across Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Computer Science, English and more. Send the syllabus code printed on your child's papers and we will match a tutor to that code instead of a general subject heading.

Where would my child sit IB or IGCSE exams from Nanjangud?+

Through an authorised centre. The IB, Cambridge and Edexcel register candidates through schools or approved centres, and none is confirmed inside Nanjangud. Private candidates generally register through a centre in Mysuru or Bengaluru, so enquire many months ahead, because private-candidate places close well before each series.

When is the best time to begin tuition?+

As near the start of the course as possible: Class 11 for the Diploma, Class 9 for IGCSE. Early lessons let a tutor build habits gradually and pre-empt the gaps. A later start still helps, with a narrower plan drawn from a diagnostic lesson and the highest-value topics tackled first.

Can online tuition replace a school teaching the course?+

It can, provided the tutor is set up to carry the syllabus and not only answer doubts. We ask for the syllabus and the school or provider's schedule at the outset and plan the year around it. Some students manage with one session a week plus past papers, while others need two.

How are festivals, power cuts and river-season disruptions handled?+

By building slack into the schedule. If a jatra closes the road, a power cut drops the connection or a flood warning upsets the day, the lesson moves within the week. A longer break around a festival is planned ahead. A mobile hotspot as a backup is a sensible precaution in the monsoon.

What if the tutor is not right for my child?+

Tell us, and we introduce a different tutor. Reviews every few weeks exist to catch a poor fit early, and nothing is signed for the long term. The written note after each lesson helps you see whether the sessions are doing their job.

How do I book a free trial lesson?+

Send the programme, subject, level and the evenings that suit you by WhatsApp on +91 7439 368 115 or email support@ibgram.com. We reply with a shortlist and a trial slot. The trial is a real lesson on a real topic, and no rate is agreed until you have watched it.

Is IB Gram connected to any school, the IB or Cambridge?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service, not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school named here. Schools appear only as context for families, and their mention is not an endorsement of them or by them.
