IB Gram Free Trial Class in Mumbai

Parents searching for an IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai usually want one thing: proof that a home tutor can read their child's actual problem. A trial is a diagnostic session, not a free lesson. How does IB Gram turn a free trial class request in Mumbai into a shortlist?

An IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai begins as a request, not a lesson. You send the board, the year, the subject, the exact topic and what the last report or teacher comment said. IB Gram matches that against tutors who have actually taught that component, then proposes a trial session at a time that fits your week. The order matters more than parents expect. A tutor who has read the problem before arriving can diagnose inside the first twenty minutes instead of spending them asking questions you already answered on the form.

What you send decides what the trial is worth. The difference between a useful trial and a pleasant hour is almost entirely in the attachment. Send a photograph of a recent marked paper, with the examiner or teacher marks still on it, rather than the sentence she is weak in Maths. Send the syllabus or subject code, because 0580 IGCSE Mathematics Extended and Diploma Programme Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level are different jobs taught by different people. Send what the school said in its own words, including the phrase that worried you. Send the deadline that is actually scaring you: an Internal Assessment draft date, a mock week, a subject-change cutoff. A home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Mumbai does not exist as one person, so the detail is what points the request at the right specialist.

On the platform side, the shortlist is built from board and component experience first, then travel realism, then the slot. Travel realism is the one parents skip. A tutor who can reach you in forty minutes on a Saturday morning and ninety minutes on a Wednesday at seven is not a weekly fit, however good the trial goes, and it is better to know that before the trial than after four cancelled sessions in November. A match is a hypothesis, not a verdict. The trial exists to test it, and roughly one in a handful of hypotheses turns out wrong, which is the normal cost of matching rather than a failure of the process.

  • 1. Send the request: board, year, subject, the exact topic, and your locality or pin code.
  • 2. Attach evidence: a recent marked paper, the teacher's comment, the syllabus or subject code.
  • 3. Confirm the slot: day, time, home or online, and who will be in the flat.
  • 4. Run the trial as a diagnostic: the tutor sets work, marks it, and names the gap.
  • 5. Decide within two days, while you still remember what the tutor actually did.

Which programme and level the trial should be aimed at

Aim the trial at the decision in front of you, not at the subject in general. In the Primary Years Programme (PYP) that decision is usually reading fluency or number confidence, and a trial is mostly about whether the child will work with a stranger at all. In the Middle Years Programme (MYP) the decision is criterion-shaped: a Year 9 or Year 10 student losing marks on Criterion C in Sciences has an investigation-writing problem, not a knowledge problem, and the trial should be spent on a criterion strand rather than a chapter. In the Diploma Programme (DP) the decision is usually Higher Level (HL) versus Standard Level (SL), an Internal Assessment (IA) that has stalled, or a predicted grade that came back lower than expected.

On the Cambridge International Education side, the live decision at IGCSE is almost always the tier. Core and Extended are different papers with different ceilings, and a student sitting the wrong one either loses the top grades she could have reached or spends two years drowning. A trial aimed at that question looks different from a trial aimed at revision: the tutor should put an Extended paper question in front of her, watch her attempt it, and tell you what the gap between her and that tier actually is. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs its own papers and its own practical arrangements, so name the board when you book. All IB and IGCSE subjects in home classes across Mumbai are taught to a specific syllabus edition, and a tutor who cannot name the edition is guessing.

Subject choice across both boards carries its own trial use. If a MYP 5 student is choosing DP subjects, a single session on a sample HL question in the subject she is considering tells you more than a term of advice. The same applies in reverse: a DP 1 student considering dropping from HL to SL should spend a trial on an HL Paper question and an SL Paper question back to back, so the decision rests on evidence rather than on how tired she felt in March. There is no best IB tutor in Mumbai in the abstract. There is a tutor who fits this student, this component and this slot, and the trial is how you find out which.

  • PYP trial: will the child work with a stranger, and for how long before attention goes
  • MYP trial: one criterion strand with the published wording, not a textbook chapter
  • DP trial: an HL or SL past-paper question, or a stalled IA section with its criteria
  • IGCSE trial: a Core versus Extended tier test on real paper questions
  • Subject-choice trial: a sample HL question in the subject she is considering next year

What a home tuition trial should cover, subject by subject

In Mathematics, the trial should open with a past-paper question, not a topic. For IGCSE Mathematics the useful test is a structured Paper 4 question with several parts, because it shows whether the student can carry a method through to the final mark or stops at the first awkward step. For DP Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, a Paper 1 question without a calculator and a Paper 2 question with one are two separate diagnoses, and a tutor who only looks at the calculator paper will miss the algebra that is actually failing. Ask the tutor to mark method marks separately from answer marks in front of you, because that is where most of the recoverable marks sit.

In the Sciences the trial should include one extended-response question and one practical-skills question. An IGCSE Physics or Chemistry candidate who writes fluent paragraphs can still lose most of a six-mark describe-an-experiment question for never naming a measuring instrument. A DP Biology student stuck on her IA usually has a problem with the independent variable or the controlled variables, not with biology, and twenty minutes on the IA criteria will show that faster than any revision. In languages, a DP English A Language and Literature trial should be a guided analysis on an unseen text with the tutor reading the assessment criteria out loud. In Economics, use a fifteen-mark evaluation question, because evaluation is the skill the marks hang on.

Every subject carries internal assessment of some kind, and a trial is a good moment to find out whether the tutor has marked it or only heard of it. DP subjects carry IAs, the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) sit across all of them, and Business Management, Psychology and the Sciences each have their own criteria and word limits. Ask which IA criteria the tutor has worked with directly. Across all IB and IGCSE subjects, a home tutor in Mumbai who can quote the criterion wording from memory has taught it; one who says we will look at the rubric later has not.

  • Maths: a multi-part past-paper question, with method marks marked separately in front of you
  • Sciences: one six-mark extended response plus one practical or data-analysis question
  • Languages: a guided analysis on an unseen text, criteria read out loud
  • Humanities: a fifteen-mark evaluation question, not a list of definitions
  • Any DP subject: twenty minutes on the live IA section and its criteria

Where trial sessions happen across Mumbai's six zones

An IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai can be arranged in any of the six zones of Mumbai, Maharashtra, and the zone changes what a sensible first slot looks like. South Mumbai is short-distance and slow: a tutor crossing from Worli to Colaba or Cuffe Parade covers a few kilometres and can still lose most of an hour to the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals, so a seven o'clock weekday trial in Walkeshwar or Babulnath is a poor test. The tutor arrives late and rushed and you learn nothing about the teaching. Book the island trial on a Saturday morning instead. Families near the Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort and B.D. Somani International School at Cuffe Parade are usually matched inside the island rather than brought down from the suburbs, with Metro Line 3 and the Coastal Road easing the Worli to Nariman Point run.

The Western Suburbs run north to south along the Western Line and the Western Express Highway, from Bandra and Khar West through Santacruz West, Juhu and Andheri up to Goregaon East, Malad, Kandivali East, Borivali and Dahisar East. Matching along the line works; matching across it does not. A Juhu tutor offered a Kandivali East slot at six in the evening is a scheduling bet, and the trial will not tell you whether the bet holds in July. Metro Lines 2A and 7 and Metro Line 1 from Versova through Andheri to Ghatkopar have made some of those crossings survivable, and Link Road is the usual alternative when the highway stalls. The Central Suburbs sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off JVLR between them. Powai has no station of its own, so tutors reach it by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, and a Hiranandani Foundation School family booking a trial should ask which of those three the tutor is starting from.

The Eastern Suburbs stretch from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, served by the Central and Harbour lines, the Eastern Express Highway and the Eastern Freeway, which makes South Mumbai reachable from Chembur and Wadala faster than the map suggests. Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes, so trials are arranged node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are short drives apart on Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, while the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Atal Setu handle the longer crossings. A Nerul family near D.Y. Patil International School should be cautious about a tutor who lives on the island; the trial will go fine and the Wednesday slot will not survive the term. Thane spreads from the station across Pokhran Road and Majiwada out along Ghodbunder Road to Kasarvadavali, and that stretch sets the schedule: twenty minutes off-peak, close to an hour in the evening. Thane tutors cover Thane, and Mulund tutors sometimes cross over.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Walkeshwar and Tardeo, best trialled on a weekend morning
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Andheri, Malad, Borivali and Dahisar East
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar and Mulund, reached by road off JVLR and the SCLR
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Wadala, with the Eastern Freeway in play
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, matched node to node
  • Thane: station area, Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Ghodbunder Road and Kasarvadavali

When in the Mumbai school year is a trial session worth booking?

The best weeks to book a trial are the quiet fortnight after a report card and the fortnight before a mock series, and the worst are the weeks inside an assessment block. A trial during mock week tells you only that the student is exhausted. A trial in the ten days after results, when you have a marked paper in your hand and the teacher's comment in writing, gives the tutor something real to diagnose. Mumbai IB and IGCSE schools run broadly the same shape of year, and the pressure points are predictable enough to plan around.

August and September are settling months, with new DP 1 and MYP cohorts finding out what the step up actually involves. October and November bring the first serious internal assessments and the start of DP IA work, and that is when most families here start searching. December and January are the heaviest stretch for DP 2: IA deadlines, the TOK essay and the EE final draft stack inside a few weeks, which is also when it becomes too late for a trial to change much. February and March are mock season, with predicted grades following. The DP May examination session and the IGCSE May and June series close the year, and results in July reshuffle everything. Schools like Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Bandra Kurla Complex, the American School of Bombay, Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, Oberoi International School off JVLR, Bombay International School at Babulnath and Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane each set their own internal calendar, so ask your coordinator for the assessment dates before you book anything.

Naming those schools here is local context and nothing more. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school, board or examination body named on this page, and it does not speak for any of them. A tutor matched through IB Gram is not a member of your school's staff and should not be described to your child as one. The practical reason this matters at trial stage is that a tutor who claims an inside line on a school's marking is telling you something that cannot be true, and that is a reason to end the conversation rather than a reason to book.

  • Best trial windows: the fortnight after a report card, or two weeks before mocks
  • Worst trial windows: mock week, exam week, and the last fortnight before an IA deadline
  • October and November: first internal assessments, DP IA work begins, demand peaks
  • December and January: IA, TOK essay and EE drafts land together for DP 2
  • Ask your coordinator for the written assessment calendar before booking a weekly slot

Home tuition trial or online trial: which one tells you more?

A home tuition trial tells you more about the student; an online trial tells you more about the teaching. Booking an IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai at home lets you see things no video call shows: whether she works at the dining table or disappears into a bedroom, whether the television is audible, whether she goes quiet in her own house, and whether the slot survives real traffic on a real Tuesday. It also tests the logistics that break weekly arrangements. Decide before the session where it will happen, who will be in the flat, and how the tutor gets past the gate.

An online trial removes travel as a variable, which is useful precisely when travel is the thing you are unsure about. It is also the honest answer for scarce subjects: an IB online tutor in Mumbai is often the only realistic option for DP Music, Further Mathematics, Mandarin B or a less common language, because the handful of people in the city who teach those components cannot cross six zones on a weeknight. Online trials show you a specific skill clearly. Watch whether the tutor annotates the actual past paper on screen, writes while explaining rather than talking over a static slide, and sends you anything afterwards. The trade-off is real: attention is harder to hold, a younger child usually needs a parent nearby, and a weak internet connection in a monsoon week will cost you half the session.

Hybrid is what most Mumbai families settle into after a term, and the trial is a reasonable place to test it. A common shape is one home session a week for the work that needs someone in the room, plus a short online session before a deadline for paper marking and feedback. If you expect to end up there, run the trial in whichever mode you are least sure about. IB home tuition in Mumbai costs more in travel time than online does, and that time is paid for in one way or another, so a mode decision taken at trial stage is also a budget decision taken early.

  • Home trial shows: the study space, the distractions, and whether the slot beats traffic
  • Online trial shows: paper annotation, written explanation, and feedback discipline
  • Scarce subjects such as DP Music or Mandarin B are usually online, honestly
  • Agree before the session: the room, the parent at home, and gate access
  • Hybrid: one session in the room each week, one short online marking session before deadlines

How is a home tutor in Mumbai checked before the trial session?

Before a trial is scheduled, IB Gram checks who the tutor is and what they have taught: a government photo identity document, proof of the degree they claim, their teaching history, and which boards, levels and components they have actually handled. Tutors who say they teach both boards are asked which syllabus editions and which papers, because the answer separates people who have taught IGCSE Extended from people who have read about it. References are taken where a tutor has them. None of this is a substitute for the twenty minutes of checking you do yourself during the trial, which is the part most parents skip.

Your own checks are simple and fast. Ask which syllabus edition they teach to and for which examination series. Ask them to name the assessment criteria for the piece of work your child is struggling with, without looking it up. Ask what they would set as homework after today, and how long it should take. Ask what they will send you after each session: a message, a marked paper, a line in a notebook, anything written. An IB private tutor in Mumbai who answers those four questions precisely has taught the course. One who answers in generalities about building confidence and strong fundamentals may still be a good teacher, but you have no evidence of it from this session.

Fees belong in the same conversation, before the trial rather than after it. IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on the board and level, how scarce the subject is, how far the tutor travels and how long each session runs. A DP HL Physics specialist travelling from Ghatkopar to Cuffe Parade on a weeknight is a different arrangement from an IGCSE Mathematics tutor three buildings away, and neither is quoted on this page because quoting a number we have not verified for your case would be dishonest. Whether a particular trial session carries a charge is confirmed to you in writing before it is scheduled. Ask for the per-session figure, the session length, and the notice period for cancellation in the same message.

  • Checked by IB Gram: photo identity, degree proof, teaching history, boards and components taught
  • Ask the tutor: which syllabus edition, which series, which criteria, in the trial itself
  • Ask what homework follows today's session and how long it should take
  • Ask what written record you get after every session, and in what form
  • Confirm session length, per-session fee and cancellation notice in writing before the trial

Using the one shot you get: a strong trial and a weak trial on the same paper

Take one component and look at the same forty minutes twice. This is a composite illustration, not a case study. The material is an IGCSE Physics Paper 4 question worth six marks, asking the student to describe an experiment to find the specific heat capacity of a metal block. She has already sat it in a school test and lost four of the six marks, and that marked script is sitting in her bag.

In the strong version, the tutor reads the marked script in the first three minutes, hands it back with the marks folded over, and asks her to attempt it again cold while he watches. She writes four steps in about ninety seconds and stops. He marks what she wrote out loud against the mark scheme wording rather than against his own sense of a good answer, and the diagnosis arrives quickly: the physics is intact, because she knows that energy transferred equals mass times specific heat capacity times temperature change. What she loses marks for is method writing. She writes heat the block without naming the instrument, and never says that the temperature must be measured and recorded before and after. He names it in one sentence: you are not short of physics, you are short of measurable quantities. Then he hands her a near-identical question using water instead of metal, and the second attempt scores most of the marks. The last ten minutes go on writing down, on paper you keep, the single rule she will apply to every describe-an-experiment question for the next fortnight.

In the weak version, on identical material, the tutor opens a notebook and re-derives the equation for twenty-five minutes. The explanation is clear, correct and pleasant. The student says okay several times and writes nothing. No marked paper is asked for, no mark scheme is opened, no question is attempted, and nothing is written down for later. At the end the tutor says she has a good grasp of the concepts and needs more practice, a conclusion that fits every student alive and commits to nothing. The session felt good. You learned nothing you did not know beforehand, and your daughter walks into Monday's class with exactly the same instructions she had on Friday. Both tutors were polite, both were qualified, and only one of them did the job the trial exists for.

  • Does the student talk for a third of the session, or only listen and nod?
  • Does the tutor ask for a marked paper, or start from a blank page?
  • Is the criterion or mark-scheme wording read out, or paraphrased from memory?
  • Does anything get written down that you still have on Monday morning?
  • Can the tutor name the gap in one sentence without using the word concepts?
  • Did the student attempt something in the first twenty minutes, or just receive an explanation?

What the trial can and cannot tell you about the next six months

At four weeks, a working arrangement looks like this: homework between sessions actually gets done, the student can start a question without being told how to begin, and you can name in one sentence what is being worked on. That is the whole four-week test. Marks often have not moved yet, and a tutor who promises movement at four weeks is selling something. At one term, expect a visible shift in one component rather than across a subject: the structured Paper 4 questions hold together, or the IA has a method section her teacher accepted. Across a full examination cycle, predicted grades can move and often do, but IB Gram does not guarantee grades and neither should any tutor you speak to. Teaching is one input among the school, the student's own work and the examination itself.

The hardest judgement is the pleasant trial that is not a fit, and it is worth naming the signals plainly. The student did not speak unprompted once. The tutor talked about their own results and years of experience more than about the paper in front of them. You asked what the problem was and got an answer about confidence. The tutor would not commit to a specific next step, or committed to a grade. Nothing was written down. The slot only works if every signal on the Western Express Highway is kind. Any one of those is a reason to try a second tutor before settling, and asking for a second trial is a normal request, not an insult.

A tutor who is not working out after three or four weeks is also normal, and the useful response is specific rather than apologetic. Write down what is not happening: sessions running short, homework never set, the IA untouched, the student dreading Thursday. Send that to IB Gram and ask for a replacement with that history attached, so the next tutor starts from the gap rather than from scratch. IB tutors near me in Mumbai is how most parents start searching, and proximity is one variable out of four. The other three, component experience, diagnostic habit and a slot that survives the monsoon, are what the trial is for. That is the whole case for treating an IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai as a diagnostic session rather than a free lesson.

  • Four weeks: homework done, questions started unaided, you can name the focus in a sentence
  • One term: one component visibly stronger, or an IA section the teacher accepted
  • One exam cycle: predicted grades can move, and no honest tutor promises they will
  • Not a fit: no diagnosis, nothing written, the student silent, a grade promised
  • Replacement: send the written history of what did not happen, not a general complaint

Booking an IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai: what to send first

Spend ten minutes on the request and you change what the trial can do. Photograph the most recent marked paper, including the marks and the teacher's handwriting. Write the board, the year group, the subject, the level and the syllabus or subject code. Write the exact topic or criterion, not the subject name. Add one line on the deadline that worries you and one line on what the school said. Say which days and times genuinely work, in your own locality, and whether you want the session at home or online. That request produces a shortlist; a request saying needs help in Maths produces guesswork.

On the day, set the session up so it can be judged. Put the table where you can hear it without sitting in it, keep the marked paper and a blank sheet on the table, and make sure someone is at home who can let the tutor in without a ten-minute call from the gate. Tell your child what the session is for in plain terms: this is not a test of her, it is a test of the tutor, and she is allowed to say she does not understand. Then stay out of the first twenty minutes. If a parent answers for the student, the diagnosis is worthless.

At the end, ask five questions before the tutor leaves, and write the answers down. What exactly did you diagnose today, in one sentence, without the word concepts. Which component or criterion were we on, and which mark was lost. What will she do before the next session and how long should it take. What will look different in four weeks and how will I see it. Which syllabus edition and paper are you teaching to. A tutor who answers all five clearly has given you a real diagnostic. A tutor who answers none of them has given you a pleasant hour, and you are entitled to try somebody else.

  • Send first: marked paper photo, board, year, level, syllabus code, exact topic
  • Add the deadline that worries you and the school's comment in its own words
  • Set up the room, the gate access and the parent who stays out of the first twenty minutes
  • Ask the five end-of-trial questions and write the answers down the same evening
  • Decide within two days, and ask for a second trial if the first one only felt nice
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Is the first session really free, and what does a trial actually cost?+

Whether a given trial session carries a charge is confirmed to you in writing before it is booked, and this page does not set those terms for any tutor. What an IB Gram free trial class in Mumbai buys is consistent: a diagnostic, not a discounted lesson. Ongoing fees depend on the board and level, how scarce the subject is, how far the tutor travels and how long each session runs, which is why no figure appears here. Ask for the per-session amount, the session length and the cancellation notice in the same message, before the trial, so you are not negotiating after a session that went well.

What should I send the tutor before the trial session?+

Send four things: a photograph of a recent marked paper with the marks still visible, the syllabus or subject code, the exact topic or assessment criterion, and what the school said in its own words. Add the deadline that is actually worrying you, whether that is an Internal Assessment draft, a mock series or a subject-change cutoff. A tutor who receives those four things can spend the first twenty minutes diagnosing instead of interviewing you. A tutor who receives only the subject name will spend half the session catching up to what you already knew, and that half is the half you needed.

The trial felt pleasant and my daughter liked the tutor. Is that enough?+

No, and this is the most common way a trial gets wasted. Liking the tutor is necessary and not sufficient. Ask yourself three questions afterwards: did your daughter attempt something herself, was the gap named in one specific sentence, and is anything written down that still exists on Monday. If the answer to all three is no, you watched a well-delivered explanation, not a diagnosis. Plenty of warm, qualified tutors never diagnose anything, and plenty of blunt ones fix a component in a fortnight. Judge the method first and the rapport second.

What questions should I ask at the end of the trial?+

Ask five. What exactly did you diagnose today, in one sentence, without using the word concepts. Which component or criterion were we working on, and which specific mark was lost. What will she do before the next session, and how long should that take. What will look different in four weeks, and how will I see it. Which syllabus edition and examination series are you teaching to. Write the answers down the same evening, because by the weekend you will remember the tone of the session and not the content, and the answers are the only evidence you will have.

Can a tutor reach our building off Ghodbunder Road in Thane for a seven o'clock trial on a weekday evening?+

Often yes, and it is still the wrong slot for a first session. The Ghodbunder Road stretch from Thane station to Kasarvadavali runs about twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour in the evening peak, so a seven o'clock weekday trial usually means a tutor arriving late and teaching in a hurry. Book the trial on a Saturday or Sunday morning, judge the teaching properly, then test the weekday slot once as a second session before you commit to it weekly. Thane tutors generally cover Thane, and a tutor coming from Mulund or further west is the arrangement most likely to collapse by August.

Does our society gate need anything before the tutor arrives for a home tuition trial?+

Yes, and sorting it out in advance protects the session. Most Mumbai societies log visitors by phone number and many need a resident to approve entry through an app, so send the tutor's name and number to your security desk the day before and keep your phone to hand at the slot time. Tell the tutor which gate, which tower and which floor, and whether two-wheelers park elsewhere. Ten minutes lost at a gate is ten minutes off a diagnostic you only get once. For a standing weekly slot, ask your committee how a recurring visitor pass works in your complex.

Should a parent sit in on the trial session?+

Stay within earshot and out of the room for the first twenty minutes. You want to hear whether your child speaks, whether she is asked to attempt something, and whether the tutor references actual criteria, and none of that happens honestly with a parent at the table. Younger children and online sessions are the exception: a PYP or early MYP student usually needs somebody nearby to settle the first ten minutes. Come in at the end for the five questions. If you find yourself answering on your child's behalf during the session, the diagnosis stops being about her.

We are in Navi Mumbai and the tutor we liked lives in Bandra. Will that hold for a term?+

Usually not for a weekday evening slot. Pulling a tutor across the creek from the island city into Vashi, Nerul, Belapur or Kharghar works for a single trial that everybody is motivated to attend, then fails somewhere around the third month. Navi Mumbai matching works node to node, using Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, with the Atal Setu and the Trans-Harbour Line handling the longer crossings. If the Bandra tutor is genuinely the right subject specialist, run the arrangement online during the week and keep any in-person session for a weekend.

What happens if the trial goes well but the tutor is not working out after three weeks?+

Ask for a replacement and attach the history. Write down what is specifically not happening: sessions finishing early, homework never set, the Internal Assessment untouched, the student going quiet. Send that to IB Gram rather than a general complaint, so the next tutor starts from the gap instead of from scratch and you do not repeat three weeks. This is a routine request. A trial is a hypothesis about a match, and a share of hypotheses turn out wrong, which is the cost of matching rather than a sign that you chose badly.

Is there any point doing a trial in the middle of the May examination session?+

Very little for a Diploma Programme 2 candidate already sitting papers, and a fair amount for the year below. During the May session a trial cannot change the outcome, and the student's time is better spent on past papers than on meeting someone new. For a DP 1 or MYP 5 student, the May and June weeks are quiet and ideal: teachers are occupied with examinations, the student has time, and a diagnostic now sets up a whole year. The other good window is the ten days after a report card, when you have a marked paper and a written comment in hand.

Can the trial be online if we eventually want home classes, or is that a wasted session?+

It is not wasted, but it tests a different thing, so choose deliberately. An online trial shows you the teaching: whether the tutor annotates the real past paper, writes while explaining, and sends you something afterwards. A home session shows you the student: the study space, the distractions, and whether she goes quiet in her own house. Run the trial in the mode you are least sure about. If you have already decided on home tuition and only doubt the tutor's subject depth, an online trial answers that faster and without putting a bad traffic day between you and a fair judgement.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send one request with the marked paper, the board, the level, the syllabus code and the exact topic, plus the days that actually work and your locality. IB Gram proposes a matched tutor and a trial slot, you confirm the room and the gate access, and the session runs as a diagnostic. Afterwards you ask the five questions, write the answers down, and decide within two days.
