IB Tutors Near Me in Lower Parel, Mumbai

Typing IB tutor near me in Lower Parel gets you a map pin, which is the wrong unit. What decides whether home tuition survives a full term here is not kilometres but evening geometry: who can be standing in your lobby at seven, every week, through August rain. IB Gram matches International Baccalaureate specialists on that basis across South Mumbai.

What happens when you search for an IB tutor near me in Lower Parel

The search phrase assumes that the closest tutor is the best tutor, and in most of Mumbai that is roughly true. In the island city it is not, because the limiting factor is signals rather than distance. So the first thing we do with an enquiry from this part of South Mumbai is throw away the radius and build the match around your evening instead. Before we look at a single profile we want to know what time the flat is actually ready, who is home, and how long a session can run before a Middle Years Programme student has stopped absorbing anything. Those three answers eliminate more candidates than any geographic filter.

1. Write down the two evenings that work and the earliest realistic start time for each. 2. Tell us the programme stage, PYP, MYP or Diploma Programme, and the subject or subject group. 3. We shortlist from tutors whose existing weekly route already passes through or ends in Lower Parel, Parel, Worli or Prabhadevi. 4. You speak to each candidate briefly and ask where they travel from and what else they teach that evening. 5. Session one is a diagnostic at your flat, written up, with a review booked for four weeks out.

Step three is where this differs from a directory. A tutor who already finishes a Tuesday session in Prabhadevi at 8pm is a far better bet for a Tuesday 8.30pm slot in Lower Parel than a tutor who lives four hundred metres from you but teaches in Bandra until eight. Distance tells you almost nothing; the existing route tells you everything. Parents who search for IB tutors near me in Lower Parel and then pick strictly on postcode usually end up renegotiating the slot in month two, which is the expensive outcome.

What you get at the end of that is deliberately small, whether you asked for home classes in Mumbai or for online support. Two or three names, each with the programme stages and subjects they actually teach, where they travel from, and what else occupies their evening. Not a scrollable list. If the subject is scarce, and at Higher Level in a minority language it often is, you will get one name and an honest explanation, plus the option of an IB online tutor in Lower Parel instead of a weaker local match. We would rather lose the enquiry than fill it badly.

  • Evening window and programme stage collected before any profile is opened
  • Shortlist drawn from tutors whose weekly route already touches this district
  • Ask every candidate where they travel from and what precedes your slot
  • Two or three names with real subject depth, not a directory listing
  • Scarce Higher Level subjects get one honest name or an online option

PYP, MYP or the Diploma Programme: which stage is your child in?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) runs three programmes that families here encounter, and the right tutor for one is often wrong for another. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) covers the early and junior years and is taught through units of inquiry rather than subject periods, which means a tutor supporting a PYP child is mostly building reading stamina, number sense and the habit of explaining thinking out loud. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) spans the middle school years across eight subject groups and marks work against published criteria rather than percentages. The Diploma Programme (DP) is the two-year pre-university course with Higher Level and Standard Level choices.

Parents most often misjudge the MYP stage. Because MYP reports arrive as criterion levels rather than marks out of a hundred, a parent reads a mid-range level and cannot tell whether the problem is knowledge, investigation, communication or reflection. Those are different criteria and they need different teaching. A child who understands the science perfectly and scores poorly on communication does not need more content; she needs to be taught how an IB report is structured and what the command verbs in each criterion are asking for. That diagnosis takes a tutor who has read the actual criteria, which is the first thing we check.

At Diploma Programme level the decisions get heavier and earlier. Higher Level and Standard Level are not simply harder and easier versions of the same course; the content differs and so does the kind of question a candidate faces. Add the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the creativity, activity and service component, and a DP1 student is managing several long-horizon pieces of work alongside ordinary teaching. Any structural detail about components, timing or weighting should come from the current subject guide and your school's Diploma coordinator, not from a web page, because the IB revises guides on its own cycle.

This page covers the IB only. Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE families in Lower Parel have their own pages on this site, because the assessment vocabulary is genuinely different and mixing the two produces a tutor who is vague about both. The wider panel does cover all IB and IGCSE subjects and the tutor in Lower Parel you are matched with comes from whichever side your child actually sits. If your child is crossing from an IGCSE cohort into DP1, say so, because that transition is a specific skill.

  • PYP work is inquiry-led: reading stamina, number sense, explaining thinking
  • MYP is marked against criteria, so diagnose the criterion before the content
  • A mid-range criterion level hides four very different problems
  • Higher Level is a different course, not a harder version of Standard Level
  • Confirm component structure with the Diploma coordinator and current guide

The IB subjects families here ask about, and what the work actually involves

Across IB enquiries from this stretch of South Mumbai, the requests cluster. Mathematics at both Diploma Programme routes leads, followed by the experimental sciences, then English and a second language, then the individuals and societies group. In every one of them the Internal Assessment (IA) is the piece that generates the most anxiety and the least clarity. An IA is not a school project with a deadline; it is coursework marked against published criteria and moderated externally, which means the quality of the research question matters more than the quantity of data. A tutor who helps a student narrow a question in week one saves more marks than one who helps polish a conclusion in week nine.

In the sciences the typical failure is a design that cannot produce a defensible result. A DP1 student decides to investigate something ambitious, collects data that will not support any analysis, and discovers it late. The tutor's job at that point is unglamorous: force a single independent variable, insist on enough repeats to say something about uncertainty, and make the student write the method before touching equipment. For MYP science the parallel issue is the investigation criterion, where students describe what they did instead of justifying why they did it that way.

Mathematics has its own pattern. The exploration asks a student to do mathematics, not to write about mathematics, and the commonest weak submission is a well-presented survey of a topic with no personal engagement and no actual working. Meanwhile the taught course punishes the student who can use a calculator but cannot show reasoning. In language and literature the marks sit in how closely a response reads the text in front of it, not in how much context the student can recall, and in individuals and societies the command terms separate describe, explain, analyse and evaluate as strictly as any science paper.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay are where families most often ask for help late. Both reward a narrow, answerable question and clear reasoning, and both punish a broad topic however interesting. If your child is in DP1, the useful tutoring moment is while the question is still being chosen. We arrange home classes for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Lower Parel at the stage families actually need them, which for these two components is earlier than almost anyone expects.

  • Internal Assessment marks are won in the research question, not the conclusion
  • Science investigations fail on design: one variable, enough repeats, method first
  • The mathematics exploration must contain real working and personal engagement
  • Command terms in individuals and societies are as strict as in science
  • Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge help works best before the question is fixed

How near is near enough in South Mumbai?

Asking for an IB tutor near me in Lower Parel is really asking about reliability, so define near as a travel time rather than a distance. Near enough means a tutor who can arrive within fifteen minutes of leaving, every week, in any weather, and who can hold that for a year of home tuition rather than a month. By that definition the usable area around the Lower Parel mill district is Lower Parel itself plus Parel, Worli and Prabhadevi, with Dadar, Mahalaxmi and Byculla sometimes workable depending on the exact street. That is a small area and it is the correct one. South Mumbai is dense and short-distance but slow, so the eight kilometres between Worli and Colaba can still cost most of the evening peak once the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals are involved. Short on a map does not mean near in practice.

Each neighbouring pocket behaves slightly differently. Parel, immediately east, is the easiest pairing because a tutor can hold two slots in one evening across the two areas without crossing a major signal. Worli sits west towards the sea face and is fast or slow depending entirely on whether Annie Besant Road is moving. Prabhadevi runs north along the same spine and is structurally the twin of Lower Parel: tall buildings, a single gate, a lift that is busy at eight. A tutor who already works in any of those three is effectively a local tutor for you.

Transport decides who can commit. The nearest station is Lower Parel, which older signage and plenty of residents still call Elphinstone Road, placing the area on the Western Line between Churchgate, Grant Road and Mumbai Central. The Harbour Line through CSMT, Dockyard and Sewri brings tutors from the eastern edge of the island. Metro Line 3 along the Cuffe Parade to BKC alignment changed the maths for anyone coming from Bandra Kurla Complex, and the Coastal Road has done the same on the western side. A train-and-walk tutor is more reliable in July than a tutor who drives.

What we will not do is stretch the radius to close an enquiry. Tutors for this part of Mumbai, Maharashtra are matched within the island rather than brought down from the suburbs, because a suburban tutor who accepts a weekday evening slot here is accepting a commute they will resent by week five. If you are offered a brilliant Goregaon specialist for a Wednesday 7pm slot in your tower, the right question is not whether they are good. It is what happens the first Wednesday the Western Express Highway stops moving.

  • Near enough means fifteen minutes of travel, repeatable every week
  • Core cluster: Lower Parel, Parel, Worli and Prabhadevi
  • Lower Parel station, long known as Elphinstone Road, sits on the Western Line
  • Harbour Line, Metro Line 3 and the Coastal Road widen the tutor pool
  • A suburban tutor accepting a weekday island slot is a scheduling risk

IB school calendars around Lower Parel and what they do to your term

Children from the towers here attend a handful of IB schools, and their internal calendars matter more to a tutoring plan than the IB's own published dates. JBCN International School, Parel is the nearest option for many families in this district and runs IB pathways. Aditya Birla World Academy at Tardeo draws from the same part of South Mumbai. Others travel to Bombay International School at Babulnath, to Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, or across to Dhirubhai Ambani International School and the American School of Bombay in Bandra Kurla Complex. IB Gram is an independent platform and not affiliated with any school named here; we list them because their term rhythm sets the pressure points.

The IB year has a different shape from the IGCSE one, and it catches first-time DP parents out. The hard months are not the ones before final examinations. They are the stretch in DP1 when the Internal Assessment drafts, the Extended Essay progress checks and the Theory of Knowledge work converge, and the equivalent squeeze in MYP Year 5 around the personal project. A DP1 student at an IB school in Mumbai will often have two IA drafts and an EE supervisor meeting inside the same fortnight, and no amount of last-minute tutoring fixes a term's worth of drift.

This produces a specific local pattern. Enquiries from Lower Parel spike twice: once after the first reporting cycle, when criterion levels or predicted grades land and surprise someone, and again in the final months of DP2, when the useful interventions have narrowed to examination technique. The first spike is where tutoring earns its money. The second is still worth doing, but a tutor arriving then can triage and cannot rebuild. If you are reading this after a first report rather than after a mock, you are early in the good sense.

School workload also decides how much a tutor can add. An MYP student carrying service hours, a sport and criterion-marked assignments in several subject groups has two or three usable evenings a week, and this district compresses them further because nothing starts before seven. A tutor who brings her own parallel syllabus will be dropped by week four. The arrangement that lasts is one where the tutor teaches through the assignment the school has already set, which also gives you a visible way to judge whether it is working.

  • JBCN International School, Parel is the closest IB option for many towers here
  • Aditya Birla World Academy serves the same South Mumbai catchment
  • The DP1 squeeze matters more than the weeks before final papers
  • MYP Year 5 personal project season is a predictable pressure point
  • IB Gram claims no relationship with any school mentioned on this page

IB home tuition, online sessions, or a mix of the two?

Home tuition first, because proximity is the thing you were searching for and in-person teaching is what most IB students under DP2 actually need. An IB home tutor in Lower Parel sits at your table with the student's own portfolio open, sees the moment a criterion is misread, and can make a child talk through an IA design out loud. That last part is hard to force over a video call. Most of the home classes we arrange in Mumbai run sixty to ninety minutes once or twice a week, at the dining table rather than behind a closed door, with a parent in earshot and not in the room.

Online has a real and specific place in the IB. Higher Level subjects in this part of Mumbai are where scarcity bites: a Higher Level economics or a minority second language specialist may not live anywhere near the island, and an online specialist beats a local generalist every time for that work. Online is also the sensible answer for Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge supervision support, which is mostly reading drafts and asking hard questions, and for short clinics in the weeks before papers. Its weakness is consistent: it does not build working habits in a student who has none.

The arrangement most of our longer IB engagements in South Mumbai end up in is a split. One in-person session each week anchors the work, handles anything that needs watching on paper, and keeps the relationship real. A second shorter online session handles draft review, question practice and marking feedback. The split halves the travel exposure, which in this district is the single biggest cause of a tutor becoming quietly unreliable, and it lets you add intensity before a deadline cluster without rebuilding the whole timetable.

One thing worth refusing: a shared home slot across two children in different programmes. Parents in the same tower sometimes propose it, and an MYP Year 3 student and a DP1 student cannot be taught together even in the same subject, because the assessment language is different. Two siblings in the same programme and the same subject can work, with the honest caveat that one of them will be ahead. We would rather run two shorter slots than one compromised ninety minutes.

  • In-person teaching suits PYP, MYP and DP1 portfolio and design work best
  • Online wins for scarce Higher Level subjects and minority languages
  • Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge support works well over video
  • A weekly in-person anchor plus one online review session is the stable pattern
  • Never share a slot across two different IB programme stages

Checking an IB private tutor before they walk into your flat

Nobody who answers an enquiry for an IB tutor near me in Lower Parel reaches your door unchecked. Identity, qualification and programme evidence are verified before a name reaches you, and that applies equally to home tuition and to online work. Identity is a government photo document matched to the profile. Qualification means seeing the degree or teaching credential rather than accepting a claim. Programme evidence is the one that predicts the match: which IB programme stages the tutor has taught, which subjects and at which level, and whether they have worked with Internal Assessment or criterion marking in practice. An IB private tutor in Lower Parel who has supervised a dozen science IAs and one who has read the criteria carefully are both legitimate, and they are not interchangeable for a DP1 student in trouble.

The practical test we run is a marking test rather than a knowledge test. We give the candidate an anonymised piece of student work, a weak IA introduction or a mid-level MYP response, and ask what they would say to the student. A strong answer names the criterion, identifies the one change that moves the level, and gives the student something to do tonight. A weak answer explains the topic again. Subject knowledge is necessary and it is not the scarce resource. Knowing where the level is lost is the scarce resource.

Your own checks are the ones that catch what we cannot see. On the introduction call ask which programme stage they taught most recently and in which academic year. Ask them to describe their first session, and listen for whether they plan to diagnose or to teach. Ask what you will receive in writing after four weeks. Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, quotes a predicted score, or suggests a connection with your child's school, because all three are selling behaviours rather than teaching behaviours.

Verification continues after the match, and it depends on you reporting the dull problems. Sessions drifting into homework supervision. A tutor who is reliably ten minutes late because the slot before yours is in Worli. A student who stops bringing out her portfolio. Those signals reach us only if you send them, which is why the four-week note runs in both directions. A platform that collects only praise learns nothing about its own panel, and the IB work where a bad match costs most is exactly the long-horizon work.

  • Photo identity and qualification documents checked before any introduction
  • Programme stages, subjects and levels recorded per tutor, not self-described
  • Marking test on real student work decides who reaches your shortlist
  • Ask which stage they taught last and in which academic year
  • Report late arrivals and drifting sessions at the four-week mark

The travel radius that actually matters for home classes in Lower Parel

This district has a working rhythm that almost nowhere else in Mumbai shares. The old mills became Kamala Mills and the Phoenix complex, offices filled them, and residential towers rose around the edges. The result is a place that is an office park until half past six and a residential neighbourhood after seven, with parents coming up the lift from the Kamala Mills or Phoenix side between those two times. Tutoring here therefore begins at seven and almost never earlier, which is the opposite of the suburbs, where the strong slot is the one straight after school at four.

Run the arithmetic and the consequence is obvious. If no session can start before seven and no useful session with a school-age child can run past ten, a tutor has two slots per evening in this district, not four. So the variable that matters is not how close the tutor lives but what they can physically do with those two slots. A tutor with a 7pm student in your own tower will take your 8.30pm slot gladly and will never cancel for traffic. A tutor with nothing else nearby is paying a full travel cost for one hour, and that economics is what makes slots quietly disappear in month three.

Which is why vertical density is an asset here in a way it is not in a low-rise neighbourhood. Lodha World Towers and Indiabulls Blu between them hold enough IB and IGCSE families that one tutor can teach two students in the same building on the same night, separated by a lift ride. When we match in this district we deliberately look for buildings where a panel tutor already holds a slot, and we will tell you if that is the reason a particular name is on your shortlist. It is the single strongest predictor of an arrangement lasting a full academic year.

Then there is the gate, which costs more sessions here than traffic does. Towers in Lower Parel run visitor registration, and an unregistered tutor arriving at 7pm on a Monday can lose ten minutes at the desk out of an hour you are paying for. Fix it once in week one: call building management, register the tutor as a recurring visitor with the day and time, and find out whether entry runs through a resident approval message, an app or a photo pass. Then tell the tutor the gate, the wing and the lift bank before session one.

  • Two usable slots an evening here, around 7pm and around 8.30pm
  • The suburban after-school window barely exists in this office district
  • Tutors with two students in one tower are the ones who never cancel
  • Register a recurring visitor pass in week one, not in week five
  • Tell the tutor the wing and lift bank before the first session

Four weeks, one term and one exam session: what should change?

Four weeks of home tuition buys you evidence about the match, not about the grade. Three things should be visible. The tutor should be able to say, without consulting notes, which criterion or which error type your child repeatedly loses marks on. Your child should be able to explain one thing out loud that she could not explain in week one, whether that is why a method works or what an investigation criterion is asking. And the written work coming home should look different: more attempts, more visible reasoning, including reasoning that turns out to be wrong. If none of the three has happened, change the tutor.

One term, call it twelve to fourteen sessions, is where school feedback starts to move. In the MYP that shows up as criterion levels rising in the specific criterion you targeted, which is a much more informative signal than an overall level. At Diploma Programme level it shows up in drafts coming back with fewer structural comments and more content ones. The most common honest outcome at a term is that understanding has clearly improved while reported levels have moved a little or not at all, because reported assessment lags real change by weeks. That is a normal pattern and not a reason to stop.

Across a full examination session the picture is genuinely mixed and anyone telling you otherwise is selling. Some students move substantially. Others arrive at the papers steadier, having stopped losing marks to avoidable things, with a result close to what was always likely. A tutor cannot reach a subject chosen for the wrong reason, a difficult year at home, or a Higher Level decision made before anyone was consulted. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, we do not publish success rates, and we will not predict a score for your child.

What we do guarantee is that you will not be guessing. You get a written diagnostic note after session one and a written review at four weeks, both in plain language. If the fit is wrong, message us and we shortlist again with no notice period and no argument. Most replacements are mundane: a timetable clash, a style mismatch, a tutor who turned out to be stronger in a neighbouring subject. Catching that at week four costs you a month. Catching it at month four can cost a DP1 year.

  • Week four: a named criterion or error type, one thing explained aloud
  • One term: targeted criterion levels move before overall levels do
  • Better reasoning with flat reported levels is normal, not stalling
  • No guaranteed grades, no published success rates, no predicted scores
  • Replacement on request, written diagnostic and four-week review included

Booking an IB home tutor near Lower Parel, Mumbai

Four pieces of information turn a search into a shortlist and a shortlist into home tuition that starts next week. The programme stage and subject, written as the school writes it. The most recent report, because a criterion level or a predicted grade tells a tutor more than a paragraph of description. Two evening windows with the earliest honest start time for each, allowing for the lift queue. And your building name and wing, so we can check whether a panel tutor already teaches there. Send those and the shortlist usually comes back within a couple of days rather than after a week of questions.

Session one is a diagnostic and should not feel like a lesson. For a DP student the tutor will read a recent piece of marked work and an IA draft if one exists, ask the student to talk through one problem, and probe where the understanding actually stops. For an MYP student it is the criterion breakdown. For a PYP child it is mostly listening to them read and reason. You get a short written note afterwards naming what was found and what the first month targets. If a tutor instead opens a worksheet pack and starts teaching chapter one, tell us.

On money, no page should quote you a rate. What IB tuition fees in Lower Parel depend on is the programme stage, the subject and whether it is Higher or Standard Level, how scarce that specialist is, the length and frequency of sessions, and whether the tutor is travelling for one hour or already in your tower that evening. A PYP reading slot and a Higher Level mathematics slot in the same building are different work. Anyone quoting an identical figure for both has not read the request.

A note on timing, since this is the thing we would most like parents here to change. Families often go looking for the best IB tutor in Lower Parel after the second report of DP1, by which point several months of IA drift have already happened. The better moment is the first report, or the week the Extended Essay question is being chosen. If you are already late, say so plainly and we will match for triage rather than pretend there is a term available.

  • Send programme stage, latest report, two evening windows and the building name
  • Session one diagnoses and is written up before any teaching plan
  • Fees track stage, level, subject scarcity, session length and travel
  • The first DP1 report is a better trigger than the second
  • Say if you are late and we will match for triage, not pretend otherwise
FAQs

Lower Parel tutoring — questions parents ask

How near does an IB tutor near me in Lower Parel actually need to be?+

Close enough to arrive within about fifteen minutes of leaving, reliably, every week, which is the only sense in which an IB tutor near me in Lower Parel means anything. In practice that means a tutor based in or already working across Lower Parel, Parel, Worli or Prabhadevi, and sometimes Dadar, Mahalaxmi or Byculla depending on the street. Straight-line distance is a poor guide in South Mumbai, where a few kilometres can absorb most of the evening peak. The better question to ask a candidate is where they travel from and what they teach immediately before your slot, because an existing route predicts reliability far better than a postcode does.

Can a tutor travel to our tower for an evening slot in the monsoon?+

Yes, if they are matched from inside the island city, and that is precisely why we match that way. Late July and August are when cross-city arrangements break: a tutor driving down from the Western Suburbs loses a session to water on the road and then starts treating your slot as optional. A tutor who walks in from Lower Parel station, or who is already teaching in Prabhadevi that evening, keeps the slot. Ask on the introduction call how they will reach you when it rains, and treat a vague answer as the real answer.

How do visitor passes and gate access work at Lodha World Towers or Indiabulls Blu?+

Register the tutor once as a recurring visitor and the issue stops existing. Each tower runs its own visitor process at the desk, and an unregistered tutor at 7pm on a Monday can spend ten minutes being cleared out of an hour you are paying for. One call to building management in week one, with the tutor's name, the day and the standing time, usually settles it. Confirm whether the society uses a resident approval message, an entry app or a photo pass, then pass the tutor the gate number, the wing and the lift bank.

My child's MYP report shows criterion levels and I cannot read it. Can a tutor explain?+

Yes, and that should be the first conversation rather than a lesson. Middle Years Programme work is marked against separate criteria, so a mid-range overall level can hide four different problems: knowledge, investigation, communication or reflection. A child who understands the science and writes a disorganised report needs structure teaching, not more content. A competent MYP tutor will read the report with you, name which criterion is costing the level, and show you the command verbs that criterion uses. That diagnosis takes one session and changes what the next three months are spent on.

Is an IB online tutor as useful as someone in the room?+

For some IB work, yes, and for the rest, no. Online is genuinely better when the subject specialist you need does not live near the island, which happens often at Higher Level and in minority second languages. It also suits Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge support, which is largely reading drafts and asking hard questions, and short clinics in the final weeks. Where online reliably underperforms is building working habits in a student who has none, and that describes most PYP and MYP referrals. Match the mode to the job rather than picking one for everything.

What if we see no progress after a month?+

Tell us and we replace the tutor, with no notice period. A month is not long enough for a grade or criterion level to move, so judge the match on three other things: whether the tutor can name the specific criterion or error type your child repeats, whether your child can now explain something out loud she could not explain in week one, and whether written work shows more attempted reasoning. If all three are missing, continuing costs you a term. That is exactly why the four-week review exists and why we ask for your note as well as the tutor's.

Do you place tutors in Parel, Worli and Prabhadevi too?+

Yes, and those three plus Lower Parel form a single matching cluster for us. Parel sits immediately east and pairs easily for back-to-back evening slots. Worli runs west towards the sea face and its travel time depends almost entirely on Annie Besant Road. Prabhadevi runs north along the same spine and is structurally similar: towers, one gate, a busy lift around eight. A tutor already teaching in any of the three is effectively local to you. We also take occasional slots in Dadar and Mahalaxmi where the route genuinely works.

Which evening slot should we ask for in a Lower Parel building?+

Ask for 7pm, midweek. This district empties its offices between half past six and half past seven, which is when flats become usable, so sessions here effectively start at seven and run in two blocks: around seven and around half past eight. The earlier block is worth holding out for, because a Middle Years or Diploma student at 8.45pm after a full school day absorbs much less. Tuesday to Thursday works best; Monday collapses under assignment deadlines and late office exits, and Friday loses the student entirely.

Does a tutor need to know my child's school, like JBCN International School, Parel?+

Knowing the school helps and is not the main thing; knowing the programme stage is. We are not affiliated with JBCN International School, Parel, Aditya Birla World Academy or any other school, and we name them only as local context. What genuinely matters is whether the tutor has taught your child's programme stage recently and understands the internal reporting cycle, because the IB pressure points are school-specific. Ask the school for its own assessment calendar and give it to the tutor in week one. That single document shapes the term more than school familiarity does.

Can one tutor cover several IB subjects for the same child?+

Two related subjects is realistic; three usually is not. Mathematics with physics, or chemistry with biology, works because the reasoning transfers. Mathematics with language and literature does not, whatever a profile says. The limiting factor at IB level is Internal Assessment and criterion experience, which is subject-specific and takes real supervision history to build. Given that this district offers only two usable evening slots, two tutors on different nights is often more practical than one person stretched across three subjects. We will say so rather than quietly fill the timetable.

What do we do if the tutor is simply not the right fit?+

Message us and we start the shortlist again, immediately and without a notice period. Most replacements have dull causes: a timetable clash nobody could solve, a personality mismatch, or a tutor who proved stronger in an adjacent subject. We ask for one concrete detail rather than a general complaint, because the detail changes the next shortlist. Consistent lateness points us towards tutors already holding a slot in your building. Sessions sliding into homework supervision points us towards someone with more Internal Assessment supervision behind them.

Do you work with PYP children or only older students?+

Both, though the work looks nothing alike. Primary Years Programme support is mostly reading stamina, number sense and getting a child used to explaining her thinking out loud, delivered in shorter sessions, often forty minutes rather than ninety. It works best with a parent nearby and with the child's own school materials rather than a workbook bought separately. We arrange a home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Mumbai across the full age range, but for PYP we deliberately keep sessions short and frequent rather than long and weekly, because attention is the real constraint.

We come back with two or three International Baccalaureate tutors whose weekly route already reaches this district, you speak to each briefly, and the one you pick runs a diagnostic rather than a lesson. That gets written up, and four weeks later you get a review you can act on.
