How a home tutor request turns into a shortlist in Mumbai

Parents rarely open with the real problem. They open with a symptom, usually that an investigation task came back with comments about explanation or justification when the calculations looked right. If that is roughly your situation, say exactly that when you write to us, because it changes who we shortlist. An IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai who is strong on written reasoning is a different person from one who is excellent at drilling procedures, and both exist on the platform.

We then need four pieces of information and nothing else to start. Your child's Middle Years Programme (MYP) year. The school. The flat's location, down to the society or the road rather than just the suburb, because that decides which tutors can hold a weekly slot. And a photograph of the most recent task with the teacher's comments visible. That last item does more work than any phone call: comments about communicating or about justifying a conclusion point one way, comments about accuracy point another.

What we do not do is send you ten profiles. Two or three is the right number, chosen for programme experience and for whether the travel is realistic at the hour you want. You speak to each one yourself. Ask them to describe how they would respond to a student who has found the right rule for a sequence but written three lines where the task wanted an argument. Their answer will tell you more than any list of qualifications.

Then one paid first session in your home, with a short written outcome. We ask tutors to bring an unseen pattern task to that session, give it to the student cold, and watch what happens between the first guess and the first written sentence. The note you receive afterwards should say where the student stalled: at noticing, at describing, at generalising, or at justifying. Those are four different problems with four different fixes, and guessing between them wastes a term.

  • 1. Send the MYP year, the school, your road or society, and a photo of the marked task.
  • 2. We shortlist two or three tutors with investigation and communication experience.
  • 3. You call each one and ask how they teach written justification.
  • 4. Book one paid session at home with an unseen pattern task.
  • 5. Read the written note: did the student stall at noticing, describing, generalising or justifying?

The five MYP years, and where the mathematics course sits

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) covers five years of schooling and eight subject groups studied together: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. Mathematics is one strand among eight, which matters for a practical reason parents feel immediately. Your child is not producing one subject's worth of extended written work per term, they are producing several, and the written-reasoning demand is cumulative across all of them.

In the later years schools commonly offer the mathematics course on two routes, one standard and one extended, with the extended route going further into the same branches. Which route a student follows is decided by the school together with the family, on a body of classwork rather than a single assessment. A home tutor's contribution to that conversation is evidence, not advocacy: clearer written work, better-argued conclusions, more reliable mechanics. Anyone who suggests they can influence a placement decision from outside the school is describing something they do not control.

Year 5 adds the personal project, which is supervised inside the school and belongs entirely to the student. It is a common source of confusion because some projects use mathematics heavily. A tutor can teach the statistics, modelling or geometry a project needs. A tutor cannot plan it, draft it, or produce any part of it, and we say more about that boundary further down this page because it is the single most important thing for a parent of an MYP student to understand clearly.

The IB updates its subject guides on its own schedule and individual schools interpret reporting differently. We are deliberately not quoting weightings, mark totals or band descriptors anywhere on this page, because a figure that was current when this was written may not be current for the year your child is sitting. Your school's published MYP documentation and your MYP coordinator are the correct sources. A tutor's job is the mathematics and the writing; the structure is the school's to explain.

  • Eight MYP subject groups run together, so written work piles up across subjects
  • Later years commonly split into standard and extended mathematics routes
  • Route placement is decided by the school with the family, on classwork
  • The Year 5 personal project is school-supervised and the student's own
  • Read your school's current MYP documentation for structure and reporting

What does "investigating patterns" actually ask of a student?

It asks for four things in sequence, and almost every difficulty comes from treating them as one thing. First, notice something: a sequence of figures, a set of areas, a relationship between two measurements. Second, describe the pattern in words clearly enough that someone else could continue it. Third, generalise it into a rule that works for any case, not just the four in the table. Fourth, justify why the rule must hold, which is a different act from checking that it does hold for the fifth case.

Here is the part parents find hardest to recognise, and it is the reason this page exists. A student who writes down the correct rule has done perhaps half the task. The marks that are left sit in the description and the justification, and they are awarded for the quality of the reasoning on the page, not for the correctness of the conclusion. So a student can be the quickest mental calculator in the class and still come away with comments about explanation, because nothing in their arithmetic ability has ever required them to write a paragraph.

A worked example of the kind an MYP subject groups tutor in Mumbai would use in a first session. Take squares of dots arranged in a growing border: one ring, then a bigger ring, then a bigger one. Count the dots in each. A student will usually spot the rule within two minutes. The task then wants them to say in sentences why each new ring adds a fixed number more than the last, by reference to the shape itself rather than the number sequence. The students who find that step frustrating are usually the ones who find the numbers easy, which is not a contradiction; the two skills are genuinely separate and both get taught.

The course also carries real-life application tasks, where the mathematics is applied to a situation with messy or incomplete information. These reward choosing a model, stating the assumptions you made, and commenting on whether the answer is sensible. A student who has been trained to produce a single boxed number finds the instruction to discuss limitations genuinely strange. Teaching that is slow, specific work, and it is work a tutor can do well at a dining table with a pen and a blank sheet.

  • Four steps: notice, describe in words, generalise, then justify
  • Justifying is not the same as checking the rule on one more case
  • Marks sit in the description and the argument, not only the rule
  • Real-life tasks reward stated assumptions and a comment on limitations
  • Quick mental calculators often find the writing hardest, and that is normal

Home tuition coverage across Mumbai, flat by flat

An IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai is matched on two things at once: subject fit and whether the room you have will support the kind of work described above. Investigation work needs a flat surface, a pen, several sheets of paper and space to spread three attempts side by side. That is a different requirement from a laptop and a headset, and it shapes where in the flat the session happens. In South Mumbai, flats in Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Fort, Malabar Hill, Breach Candy, Worli and Prabhadevi are often generous in ceiling and tight in usable desk space, so families here frequently run sessions at the dining table after clearing it. Tutors are matched within the island using the Western Line out of Churchgate and Mumbai Central, the Harbour Line to Dockyard and Sewri, Metro Line 3 up to BKC and the Coastal Road, because Peddar Road at 7pm undoes any plan built on distance alone.

In the Western Suburbs, from Bandra and Khar through Santacruz West, Juhu, Vile Parle, Andheri West, Oshiwara, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar, the practical issue is usually the gate. Larger societies along Link Road and off the Western Express Highway require a visitor pass per entry, and a tutor who has to be re-cleared every week loses ten minutes each time. Register the tutor as a recurring visitor in the society app or the register at the main gate before session two. Metro Lines 1, 2A and 7 and the Western Line make the north-south match workable; the east-west crossing at 6pm does not.

The Central Suburbs cover Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg, Bhandup, Powai and Chandivali. Powai has no station of its own, so a tutor arrives over JVLR or the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, and the gated layouts there often mean a five-minute walk inside the complex after the gate. Add that to the slot. In the Eastern Suburbs, Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund sit on the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Express Highway, and the Eastern Freeway means a Wadala or Chembur tutor can realistically hold an early evening slot in South Mumbai too.

Navi Mumbai works node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, connected by Palm Beach Road, the Sion-Panvel Highway, the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Belapur-Pendhar metro. Flats here are usually the easiest to teach in, with a separate study or a spare room, and the Atal Setu has shortened the island crossing without making it a sensible weekday habit. Thane runs from the station out along Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Ghodbunder Road to Kasarvadavali, where MYP subject groups home classes Mumbai families book for 7pm regularly run late in the rain. If you have been typing IB tutors near me Mumbai, replace the radius question with this one: who can reach my gate at this hour, every week, in July?

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Breach Candy, matched inside the island
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra, Khar, Juhu, Andheri West, Malad, Borivali, Dahisar
  • Register the tutor as a recurring society visitor before the second session
  • Central Suburbs: Powai and Chandivali reached over JVLR or the SCLR
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Bhandup, Mulund, plus the Eastern Freeway
  • Navi Mumbai nodes and Thane from the station out to Kasarvadavali

When do Mumbai MYP mathematics tasks actually land?

Investigation and application tasks cluster, and they cluster at the same time as the written work in every other subject group. That is the specific calendar problem for an MYP family in Mumbai, and it is different from the exam-season crush that Diploma families deal with. A student can be asked to produce a structured piece of written mathematics in the same fortnight as a sciences write-up and an individuals and societies assignment, and the mathematics is usually the one that gets the least time because it feels like the one that can be done fast.

Families we work with attend Ecole Mondiale World School and Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Oberoi International School at Goregaon East (JVLR), Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Ascend International School in BKC, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, NES International School in Mulund West, JBCN International School, Oshiwara and JBCN International School, Borivali, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named here; we list them because that is where our enquiries come from, nothing more.

The useful move is to get the task calendar rather than the term calendar. Most MYP teachers publish, early in a unit, roughly when the assessed task for that unit falls. Ask for it, put the dates on a single page, and look for the fortnights where three subjects collide. Those are the weeks to book a home tutor for, and the weeks to protect from everything else. A tutor booked in a quiet fortnight teaches skills; a tutor booked in a collision fortnight is only ever going to help with the task in front of them.

Two Mumbai realities belong on that page too. The heavy monsoon weeks reliably cost sessions along Ghodbunder Road, the Western Express Highway and the low stretches near Sion and Kurla, so agree the rain policy in advance rather than during a washed-out Tuesday. And the festival stretch in the second half of the year compresses the school weeks either side of it, which pushes tasks together. None of this is a timetable; verify everything against your school's own published calendar, which is the only document that actually binds.

  • Written tasks across the eight subject groups collide in the same fortnights
  • Ask teachers for the unit task dates, not just the term calendar
  • Book skill-building sessions in quiet weeks, not collision weeks
  • Agree a monsoon cancellation policy before the first heavy week
  • IB Gram is independent and not affiliated with any school listed

Why home classes suit this work, and where they fall short

For written mathematical reasoning, being in the room is a genuine advantage rather than a preference. The tutor needs to see the blank page, the crossed-out first attempt and the moment the student decides their sentence is good enough and stops. An IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai sitting across the table can put a finger on the exact line where the argument jumps and ask the one question that forces the missing step. On a screen that moment is usually reconstructed after the fact from a photograph, which is slower and less honest.

Home tuition has a second advantage that parents underrate: the tutor sees your child's actual working conditions. Where the paper is, whether there is room to lay out three sheets, whether the pen is a leaky one, whether the chair means they are writing with their elbow in the air. Written work gets better when the physical setup stops fighting it, and those observations only happen in person. The costs are equally real. Travel narrows the hours a good tutor can offer, so popular slots go early. A session can be derailed by a doorbell, a sibling or a delivery. And the slot has to be defended by the household, not just by the tutor.

An IB online tutor in Mumbai is the right call in defined circumstances. When the only tutor with real investigation-task experience at your child's year lives on the wrong side of the creek. When travel is the thing that keeps breaking, as it does into Kasarvadavali at 7pm. When a family relocates mid-year. Online can teach this content, provided the camera is on the page and not the face, the tutor insists on seeing sentences appear rather than receiving a finished paragraph, and the blocks are short enough that a younger student is producing rather than listening.

Hybrid is what most families end up with. A weekly session with a home tutor for the teaching and the writing practice, plus a short online review when a task is in draft. That review is also where the boundary gets tested, so it is worth naming now: a tutor may read a draft, ask questions about it, point at a paragraph and say this does not yet justify anything. A tutor may not rewrite it, dictate it, or supply a sentence for the student to copy. Judge any mode you choose on whether your child's unsupported written work is getting stronger.

  • In person, the tutor sees the crossed-out attempt and the premature full stop
  • A home tutor also sees whether the physical setup is fighting the writing
  • Travel narrows available hours, so good evening slots go early
  • Online works with camera on the page and short, productive blocks
  • Hybrid: weekly home classes for teaching, online review when a draft exists

What should I check before a home tutor enters the flat?

Three documents and two questions. Look at a government photo identity document yourself, at the door, on the first visit, and check the face matches the profile you were sent. Ask for evidence of the mathematics qualification. Ask what MYP teaching they have actually done, at which years, and in which schools or settings. IB Gram verifies identity, subject qualification and claimed programme experience before a profile reaches a parent, and an IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai who has taught these tasks will answer the third question with specifics rather than reassurance.

The two questions are about method. First: how do you teach a student to justify a generalisation? A tutor who has done this will describe a process, something like asking the student to explain the rule in terms of the shape or the context rather than the numbers, then making them write it, then making them shorten it. Second: what do you do when a student brings you a draft of an assessed task two days before it is due? The only acceptable answer involves questions, not corrections to the text.

That boundary is the thing I would most want a parent of an MYP student to be clear about. A tutor may teach the mathematics, set and mark practice problems, give feedback on practice writing, and ask a student about their own draft of an assessed task. A tutor may not write, part-write, dictate, restructure or supply any portion of assessed work, and that includes the Year 5 personal project. The consequence of crossing that line falls on the student as academic misconduct, not on the tutor, which is exactly why the tutor is not the right person to decide where the line is. If a candidate is vague about this, stop there.

One more filter. Be wary of a tutor who promises a specific grade, a band or a particular comment on the next report in exchange for a package of sessions. Reasoning skills improve on a timescale nobody can promise in advance, and a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade has told you they are not thinking about the work. Families looking for the best IB tutor in Mumbai often arrive with the opposite instinct, assuming confidence signals quality. Here it signals the reverse.

  • Check the photo identity document yourself at the door, first visit
  • Ask what MYP years they have taught and what tasks they have marked
  • Ask how they teach justification, and listen for a process
  • A tutor questions a draft; a tutor never writes assessed work
  • Be wary of anyone who promises a specific grade for a package

A guess, a pattern and a justified generalisation are three different things

Take a concrete task of the kind that comes home in the Middle Years Programme. A student is shown a sequence of growing shapes and asked about the perimeter of the nth one. Three responses are possible and they look similar on paper. The first: the student spots that the numbers go up by four each time and writes a formula. That is a guess with evidence, and it is where a great many students stop. The second: the student checks the formula against a case they were not given and confirms it works. That is verification, and it is better. The third: the student explains, in sentences, why adding one row to the shape must add exactly four to the perimeter, by reference to the shape itself. That is justification, and it is the only one of the three that answers the question the task was really asking.

The distance between the second and third response is the whole job on a page like this. Verification says the rule survived a test. Justification says the rule cannot fail, and gives the reason. Students who are quick with numbers tend to feel the third step is a formality, a rephrasing of something already obvious, and they resent being asked for it. They are not wrong that it is obvious to them. They are wrong that obviousness transfers onto paper, and the whole of later mathematics runs on the assumption that it does not.

So the teaching sequence a good home tutor uses runs backwards from the writing. Start by having the student say the argument out loud while pointing at the diagram. Then have them write exactly what they said, including the clumsy bits. Then cut it to three sentences. Then read it aloud and ask whether a classmate who had not seen the diagram could follow it. Four rounds of that on one task does more than ten more tasks completed at speed. It is deliberately slow, and parents should expect a first term in which fewer questions get done and the pages look fuller.

The real-life application tasks need a parallel habit. Here the student has to choose a model, state what they assumed, and then say what the answer is worth given those assumptions. The sentence most of these tasks are missing is the last one: a comment on whether a result is sensible in the actual situation. A student who has only ever been rewarded for a boxed answer has to be taught that writing "this assumes the rate stays constant, which it probably does not over a full year" is earning marks rather than confessing a weakness. And throughout all of it the student is the author. The tutor asks, the tutor teaches, the tutor marks practice. The student writes.

  • A guess with evidence, a verified rule and a justified rule are three levels
  • Justification explains why a rule must hold, not that it survived a test
  • Teach backwards: say it, write it clumsily, cut it, test it on a reader
  • Expect fewer questions completed and fuller pages in the first term
  • Application tasks need stated assumptions and a sentence on limitations
  • The tutor asks and teaches; the student is always the author

Honest progress markers with an IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai

At four weeks, the thing to look at is the page, not the mark. Open your child's exercise book and compare a recent piece of work with something from two months ago. Are there sentences where there used to be only symbols? Is there a line that says "because" and then gives a reason? Is there a crossed-out first attempt, which is a good sign rather than a bad one? Those changes appear well before any assessment reflects them, and they are the honest four-week signal for this kind of work.

At one term, you should be able to ask your child a question and get an argument back. Pick any rule they have met and ask why it works. A student who has had a term of this kind of teaching will start explaining with reference to a diagram or a situation rather than restating the rule louder. If the answer is still a restatement, the sessions may be drilling procedures under another name, and that is a conversation to have with the tutor directly rather than with us.

At one full assessment cycle, the question is whether the written quality holds up when the tutor is not in the building. This is the measure that matters and the one most easily flattered by weekly support. Give your child an unseen pattern task on a Sunday afternoon with nobody helping, and read what comes back. If the structure is there without prompting, something durable has been built. If it collapses into a formula and a full stop, the habit has not transferred yet, and the answer is to change how sessions run, not to add a second one.

The limits, stated plainly. Writing reasoning is a slow skill and a term is a realistic unit of measurement, not a month. A tutor cannot make a student write at length during a week the student has decided not to. A tutor has no say in how a school assesses or what a report says. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and the honest offer is narrower than that: a verified specialist, a written diagnostic, written reviews at the points above, and a replacement if the match is wrong. IB tuition fees in Mumbai buy teaching time and expertise, which is worth a lot, and they do not buy an outcome.

  • Four weeks: sentences on the page, a "because", a crossed-out first attempt
  • One term: your child can argue why a rule works, not just restate it
  • One cycle: an unseen task done alone still has structure
  • Written reasoning improves over terms, not weeks
  • We do not guarantee grades, and no tutor can replace the student's writing

Booking a first session with a home tutor in Mumbai

Prepare three things and the first session pays for itself. The most recent investigation or application task, with the teacher's comments on it, because the comments tell a tutor which of the four steps broke down. One piece of ordinary homework in your child's handwriting, so the tutor can see what unprompted working looks like. And a cleared flat surface with good light, paper and a pen that works, which sounds trivial and is the single most common reason a first session underperforms.

Expect the session to look like a conversation rather than a lesson. An unseen pattern task, given cold. Long pauses the tutor does not fill. The student explaining out loud and then being asked to write exactly that down. Very little content coverage and no finished homework. If the tutor spends the hour completing tonight's exercises, you have learned nothing you did not know and you have been shown what the next three months would be.

You then get a written note naming where the student stalled and what the first four weeks will do about it, in order. Read it with your child present; students of this age usually recognise an accurate description of their own difficulty and will tell you if it is wrong. Settle the logistics in the same message: the hour, not just the day, the society gate arrangement, and what happens when the rain closes a road. An IB private tutor Mumbai parents keep for three terms is almost always one whose slot was realistic from the start.

If it is not working, say so in two sentences and we re-shortlist with what we now know, which is more than we knew before the diagnostic. There is no penalty, no argument and no notice period to serve out of politeness. Most families who ask for a home tutor for MYP subject groups Mumbai wide find the second match stronger, because by then everyone knows whether the real work is at noticing, describing, generalising or justifying.

  • Bring the marked investigation task with the teacher's comments visible
  • Clear a real surface with paper, light and a working pen
  • Expect an unseen task, long pauses and no homework completed
  • You receive a written note naming the step that broke down
  • Say so in two sentences if the fit is wrong, and we match again
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

My child got the right answer but lost marks. How is that possible?+

Because the task was asking for an argument and received a result. MYP mathematics rewards describing a pattern clearly, generalising it and justifying why the generalisation must hold, alongside getting the calculation right. A correct rule with no explanation leaves the explanation marks on the table. This is the most common reason a confident, accurate student comes home with comments about communication, and it is not a sign of anything other than a skill that has not been taught yet. Writing mathematical reasoning is a separate skill from computing, and it responds well to being taught directly.

Can a home tutor reach our society in Kharghar on a weekday evening?+

Usually, if the tutor is already based in a Navi Mumbai node. Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are short drives from each other on Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, and a node-to-node match holds for a full term. Pulling a tutor from the island city across the creek twice a week rarely does, even with the Atal Setu. Tell us your society name and your preferred hour, and register the tutor as a recurring visitor at the gate before the second session so the slot is not eaten at the entrance.

Where in the flat should home tuition happen?+

Wherever there is a hard, clear surface big enough for three sheets of paper side by side, with light and a chair at writing height. That is a real requirement for this work, not a comfort preference, because investigation tasks involve laying out attempts and comparing them. A cleared dining table beats a cramped study desk. Face the student away from a television, keep a sibling's screen out of earshot, and leave the room door open rather than closed. Families in older South Mumbai flats often find the dining table is the only workable option, and it works fine.

Will a tutor help write the investigation task?+

No, and you should end the conversation with anyone who offers. A tutor may teach the mathematics, set practice tasks that look like the assessed one, mark that practice, and ask your child questions about their own draft. A tutor may not write, part-write, dictate, restructure or supply any sentence of assessed work, including the Year 5 personal project. If the line is crossed, the consequence lands on your child as academic misconduct, not on the tutor. Ask every candidate this question directly and listen for whether the answer is immediate and specific.

How do I tell a guess from a real justification in my child's work?+

Read for the word "because" and then check what follows it. A justification explains why the rule must hold by pointing at the structure of the shape or the situation. A guess with evidence says the numbers go up by the same amount each time, so the formula is this. Verification says the rule worked on another case. Only the first is justification. You do not need to know the mathematics to make this distinction, which is why it is a useful check for a parent to run on a Sunday afternoon with no tutor in the house.

What do the real-life application tasks actually want?+

A model, the assumptions behind it, and a comment on whether the result makes sense in the real situation. These tasks deliberately give incomplete or messy information, so there is no single clean answer, and students trained to produce a boxed number find that unsettling. The missing sentence is almost always the last one: saying what the answer is worth given what you assumed. Teaching a student that writing down a limitation earns credit rather than admitting a shortfall is slow work and one of the most useful things a tutor does at this stage.

What does an IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai charge?+

It depends on factors we would rather name than fake. An IB MYP mathematics home tutor in Mumbai is priced on the programme and year, how scarce that specific experience is, the session length, the frequency, and the travel involved. A tutor spending ninety minutes on the road between Mulund and Lower Parel is selling you that time too. Rates also firm up in the busy fortnights of the second half of the year. Get the rate, the session length, the cancellation terms and the rain policy in writing before session one, and compare two tutors rather than accepting the first.

How many sessions a week does this need?+

One, in almost every case, with practice in between. Written reasoning improves through attempts the student makes alone and then gets questioned on, so two sessions a week with no gap for independent work is usually worse value than one session plus a task to do unaided. If a tutor proposes three sessions a week for an MYP student, ask what the student will be doing between them. The exception is a short run of extra sessions in a fortnight where tasks from several subject groups collide, which is a scheduling fix rather than a teaching one.

Is online as good for this, or should we insist on a home visit?+

In person is better for written reasoning, and online is a real option rather than a consolation. Sitting across the table, the tutor sees the hesitation, the crossed-out line and the moment a student decides a sentence is finished too early. Online reconstructs that from a photograph. Online wins when the right specialist is on the wrong side of the city, when travel keeps breaking the schedule, or mid-year after a move. If you go online, insist on the camera pointing at the page, short blocks, and visible writing rather than a finished paragraph arriving at the end.

My child says they already explained it and the teacher was being unfair. What now?+

Take the complaint seriously and then test it on paper. Ask your child to hand the written work to you and read their explanation aloud to you as if you had never seen the diagram. Most of the time the student discovers mid-sentence that the page is missing a step their head supplied. That is a far better conversation than an argument about marking, and it is the exact skill the task is after. If after that the explanation genuinely does stand up, the next step is a polite question to the teacher about what more was expected.

Can you commit to a better report next term?+

No. We do not guarantee grades, and anyone who does is selling something they cannot deliver. A report depends on the student's own written work, the school's assessment, and how much of this skill has yet to be built. What we commit to is specific: a verified tutor with real MYP experience, a written diagnostic after the first session, written reviews at four weeks and at the end of the term, a clear line about assessed work, and a replacement if the match is wrong. Judge us on the written work your child produces unaided.
