IB Internal Assessment (IA) Tutor in Mumbai

Parents looking for IB internal assessment help in Mumbai usually want one thing settled first: a tutor coaches the process and never writes the work. Inside that line there is a great deal a home tutor can legitimately do, from narrowing a research question to giving feedback on a student's own third draft against the published criteria.

Feedback on the student's own drafts only, never supplied text or data
Tutors who have supervised or examined that subject's internal assessment
Home tuition and short screen reviews timed around the school's draft deadlines
Independent platform, no school affiliation, and no promises about final grades

Getting the right Internal Assessment (IA) tutor in Mumbai: what we ask before we shortlist

The request that reaches us is almost never the real request. A parent writes asking for IB internal assessment help in Mumbai because a deadline is close, and the detail that decides everything is buried in the second paragraph: the student has no research question yet, or has one the supervisor has already called too broad, or has a full draft that reads like a textbook summary. Those are three separate jobs. The first needs somebody who can ask a dozen questions in an hour until a question emerges. The second needs somebody who can cut a topic down without making the student feel their idea was worthless. The third needs a reader who can show, line by line, where description was offered and analysis was expected.

So we ask for the artefacts, not the summary. The subject and level. The school's own IA brief or task sheet, which is the document the work will be marked against. Whatever the student has written, however bad, because a page of bad writing tells a tutor more than a parent's description ever will. Any written comment the supervisor has already made. And the dates: the school's internal draft deadline, not the board's final one, because the school's date is the one that will actually be enforced in your house.

Then we shortlist for subject rather than for availability. An IA in Chemistry and an IA in Business Management reward different things and are supervised differently, and a tutor who is excellent at one is often no use at all for the other. We look for tutors who have taught that subject at Diploma level recently and who can describe how they would give feedback on a weak draft without touching the prose. That last part is the screen that removes the most applicants, because a surprising number of competent graduates think helping means rewriting.

You get two or three profiles with their subject background and their availability, and you speak to them yourself. Ask each of them what they would do in the first session with a student who has no research question. The answers separate tutors who have supervised this work from tutors who have only read about it.

  • 1. Send the subject, the level and the school's own IA task sheet
  • 2. Send whatever the student has written, however rough it is
  • 3. Send the supervisor's written comments and the school draft dates
  • 4. We shortlist two or three tutors who teach that subject at Diploma level
  • 5. You interview them; ask how they handle a student with no question yet

Which IB programme is this assessment attached to, and which year is your child in?

Settle this before the first session, because the word assessment is doing too much work. In the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), the Internal Assessment (IA) is a piece of work produced over months, marked by the subject teacher against published criteria and then moderated by the board. In the Middle Years Programme (MYP), internal assessment means something structurally different: criterion-referenced tasks set through the year, reported on a different scale, with no board moderation of the same kind. And in a Cambridge IGCSE course there is often coursework or a practical component that families call an IA because the vocabulary has leaked across the corridor at a school that runs both.

This brief itself illustrates the confusion. It describes the level as covering Years 1 to 12 across both the IB and IGCSE while naming the Internal Assessment, which is a Diploma Programme construct. In a real household that ambiguity costs money. A tutor booked for Diploma IA coaching who arrives to find a Year 9 MYP criterion task has prepared the wrong thing, and a tutor booked for coursework support who finds a DP2 student three weeks from a final submission has walked into a different and much tighter job. Ask the school for the course and year in writing. The registration record or the coordinator's email settles it in one line.

Where the student genuinely is in the Diploma, the year matters nearly as much as the subject. A DP1 student has time to change a research question and should use it. A DP2 student in the second term does not, and the honest advice is often to make the existing question work rather than start again, even when a better question exists. Any IB tutor Mumbai parents hire for this work should be able to tell you which of those two situations you are in within one session, and should be willing to say the unwelcome version. Most families asking for IB internal assessment help in Mumbai are in the second situation and have not realised it, which is why a home tutor who starts by auditing the question is worth more than one who starts by teaching content.

One more distinction worth holding. Several Diploma subjects also carry an externally assessed written component that students confuse with the IA because both involve long-form writing done out of class. They are marked by different people against different criteria and they do not reward the same moves. Ask the subject teacher which component each piece of work is, and write it at the top of the student's own folder.

  • Diploma IA, MYP criterion task and IGCSE coursework are three different things
  • Get the course, year and component named in writing by the school
  • DP1 students can still change a research question; DP2 students usually should not
  • Externally assessed written work is not the IA and rewards different moves
  • Label every piece in the student's folder with the component it belongs to

The IA looks different in every subject, and a home tutor has to know which

In the experimental sciences the work is an investigation the student designs, and the marks sit mostly in the thinking around the data rather than in the data. A student who measures a reaction rate carefully and then writes two sentences of evaluation has done the easy half. The hard half is explaining why the method limits the conclusion, what the uncertainty in each measurement does to the trend, and what a second attempt would change. Tutors spend most of their time there, and students resist it, because evaluation feels like admitting the experiment failed.

In Mathematics the work is an exploration the student chooses, and the failure mode is the opposite: the mathematics is too ambitious and the student cannot explain it. A exploration built on a technique copied from a university page scores badly even when the algebra is right, because the criteria reward personal engagement and a student's own reasoning. The coaching job is usually to talk somebody down from a glamorous topic to a modest one they can own completely.

In the individuals and societies subjects the work is research built on sources, and the recurring problem is a question that cannot be answered in the space available. In Business Management and Economics the trap is the opposite of the sciences: students have plenty to say and no structure to say it in, so the tutor works on organising an argument around the concepts the course actually teaches. In the languages the internal work is oral and interactive, and the preparation is rehearsal and vocabulary under time pressure rather than drafting. In the arts it is process and documentation, which students under-record all year and then cannot reconstruct in March.

Across every one of those subjects, do not take a weighting, a word count or a page limit from a tutoring page. The IB revises subject guides on its own cycle and schools apply them to specific cohorts, so the only reliable sources are the current subject guide for the exact course your child is entered for and the school's Diploma coordinator. Confirm the structure from those, then let a home tutor work on the skills. Our own listings describe this service as Internal Assessment (IA) IB and IGCSE, Years 1-12 tutor Mumbai cover, which is clumsy shorthand for something simpler: a tutor who knows what your child's particular component rewards.

  • Sciences: marks concentrate in method limits, uncertainty and honest evaluation
  • Mathematics: a modest topic the student owns beats an ambitious copied one
  • Humanities: scope is the whole battle, sources second
  • Languages: rehearsal and range, not drafting rounds
  • Confirm structure from the current subject guide, never from a tutoring page

IA support across Mumbai, zone by zone

Drafting work has a different travel pattern from ordinary tuition, and it changes which tutor is the right one. A student revising for a paper benefits from a fixed hour every week. A student writing an IA needs irregular, short, high-intensity contact: forty minutes the day after a supervisor meeting, ninety minutes once a draft exists, nothing at all for a fortnight while data is collected. That makes a nearby tutor disproportionately valuable in Mumbai, because a short session is only worth making if the journey is short. Families who book IB internal assessment help in Mumbai therefore get more out of a local home tutor on call than out of a distant specialist on a fixed Saturday slot.

In South Mumbai, families in Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Malabar Hill and Breach Candy are best served from inside the island. Distances look trivial and are not: Worli to Colaba is eight kilometres and can take forty minutes once the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals back up, and Metro Line 3 between Cuffe Parade and the Bandra Kurla Complex has changed the commute for BKC schools more than the Coastal Road has changed the cross-island one. In the Western Suburbs, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Andheri West, Malad and Borivali are easiest matched along the line rather than across it, since the Western Line and Metro Lines 2A and 7 run the length of the corridor while the Western Express Highway at 6pm does not reward anybody.

In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali sit off JVLR with no station of their own, so a tutor reaches Hiranandani Gardens by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, and the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road is often the deciding route. The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund on the Central and Harbour lines, with the Eastern Freeway making the island reachable from Wadala and Chembur faster than the map implies. Navi Mumbai works node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are linked by Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, and while the Atal Setu has shortened the crossing, a weekday evening tutor commuting from the island to Kharghar still rarely lasts a term. In Thane, Ghodbunder Road sets the timetable from the station out through Majiwada to Kasarvadavali, and Pokhran Road carries most of the school traffic.

There is one pattern worth stating plainly. The phrase IB tutors near me Mumbai families search is more sensible for IA work than for revision, because the sessions are short and unpredictable. We would rather give you a strong local tutor in Chembur or Kandivali East for drafting work than a marginally better one across the Bandra-Worli Sea Link whose sessions will drift to Sunday and then to nothing. Where a subject is genuinely scarce in your zone, that calculation changes and we will say so.

  • IA work needs short irregular sessions, which makes proximity matter more
  • South Mumbai served within the island: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Malabar Hill
  • Western Suburbs matched along the line: Khar West, Santacruz West, Malad
  • Powai and Chandivali reached off JVLR and the SCLR, not by train
  • Navi Mumbai node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel
  • Thane slots built around Ghodbunder Road and Pokhran Road traffic

How Mumbai school calendars decide your IA deadlines

The deadline that governs your household is not the board's. Schools in Mumbai, Maharashtra set internal draft dates months earlier so that teachers can read, comment and moderate before anything is submitted, and those internal dates are the ones that collide with everything else. A DP1 student at a school running a June start typically meets the first IA conversations after the October break, produces a proposal before the December holiday, and hands a first full draft in the second term. A DP2 student spends the first term finishing what the first year left and the second term in the externally assessed run-up.

The collision months are predictable and families still get caught. October and November carry proposals, data collection and the first mock run at once. January and February are where a student with three unfinished internal pieces and an Extended Essay (EE) and a Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay discovers that there is no spare week left anywhere. A student at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in BKC, Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu or Oberoi International School off JVLR is working to that school's own calendar, and the only calendar you should plan against is the one the coordinator published.

Ask the school for three dates in writing at the start of the year and put them on a wall: the proposal date, the first full draft date and the final internal submission date. Then book help against the gaps between them rather than against your own worry. Most families call us a fortnight before a draft is due, which is when a tutor can only tidy. Calling after the proposal date, when the question is fixed and the work has not yet gone wrong, buys the same result for fewer hours.

IB Gram is an independent platform. We are not affiliated with any school named here, including Jamnabai Narsee International School, Aditya Birla World Academy, NES International School or Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, and we do not contact schools, request unpublished marking material or approach individual teachers. Schools are named because Mumbai parents recognise their calendars.

  • The school's internal draft date governs your house, not the board's date
  • Get three dates in writing: proposal, first full draft, final submission
  • October and November collide with mocks and data collection
  • January and February leave no spare week for an unfinished draft
  • Help booked just after the proposal date costs fewer hours than help booked late

Is home tuition or screen-sharing better for drafting an IA?

For the first stage, which is deciding what the student is actually investigating, home tuition wins clearly. That conversation is long, awkward and full of silences while a seventeen-year-old thinks, and silences on a video call get filled with scrolling. A tutor sitting at the table can push a notebook across, sketch three possible questions, cross two out and watch which one the student keeps looking at. Families who start this stage with IB home tuition in Mumbai and move online later almost always report that the early face-to-face hours were the ones that mattered.

For the drafting stage the balance genuinely shifts. Reading and annotating a document is something a screen does as well as a table, and sometimes better, because both parties see the same comments and the student keeps the file afterwards. A thirty-minute screen session the day after a supervisor meeting, while the comments are fresh, is worth more than a travelled hour the following Saturday. An IB online tutor in Mumbai is also the right answer when the subject is scarce in your zone: Business Management, Economics at Higher Level (HL), Computer Science and Mandarin all run short across the city, and a tutor in Pune or Bengaluru who has supervised that exact subject beats a local generalist.

Hybrid is what the work itself suggests, so plan it rather than drift into it. One travelled session at the start of each phase, where the thinking happens, and short screen reviews in between for feedback on each new draft. That pattern also survives Mumbai in July, when a tutor who normally reaches Chembur in twenty minutes cannot, and survives the examination weeks when a travelled slot would simply be cancelled. Internal Assessment (IA) home classes Mumbai families book for a single subject usually settle into this rhythm by the second month. Record which session is immovable, and make it the one where drafts are discussed rather than the one where emails are read. Arranged that way, IB internal assessment help in Mumbai stops being a weekly appointment and becomes something closer to a standing home tutoring arrangement you call on when a phase changes.

  • Question-setting stage: face to face, because silences are productive in a room
  • Drafting stage: screen annotation works well and the student keeps the file
  • Short review within a day of a supervisor meeting beats a long one next week
  • Scarce subjects justify a tutor outside your zone or outside Mumbai
  • Monsoon and exam weeks: hold a short online session instead of cancelling

What an IA tutor in Mumbai must never do with your child's draft

This is the section to read twice. An authenticity problem on an internally assessed piece lands on your child's result and their record, not on the tutor who caused it, and the consequences are disproportionate to how casually the line usually gets crossed. A tutor may ask questions, challenge a research question, point at a paragraph that asserts instead of arguing, explain what a criterion rewards, and give feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor may not write sentences, rephrase paragraphs into better English, supply data, supply sources the student has not read, dictate a structure the student cannot explain, or produce a model answer for the student to follow closely. If a tutor offers any of that, end the arrangement that day and tell us.

There is a grey zone and it is worth naming honestly. Correcting grammar in a student's own sentence is help; rewriting the sentence is not. Explaining what an evaluation paragraph does is help; showing a worked evaluation paragraph that the student can adapt sentence by sentence is not. Suggesting that a student look for data on an industry is help; sending them a spreadsheet you built is not. The test we ask tutors to apply is simple: if the student could not explain this choice to their supervisor in their own words tomorrow, it should not be in the document.

On the platform side, every tutor is checked for identity against a government photo document, for the qualification they claim, for a reference from previous teaching, and through a subject conversation with somebody who knows the Diploma. For IA work that conversation includes a direct question about where they draw the honesty line, and the answer decides whether the profile is listed. What you should check yourself is the student's own trail: that drafts exist with dates, that the supervisor's comments are on record, and that your child can talk about the work without reading from it.

Be wary of anybody offering a guaranteed grade on an internal component, or a finished sample for your child to work from. Both are common in Mumbai and both put your child's result at risk. Any IB private tutor Mumbai families engage for this work should be comfortable with you being in the room, and should expect the student to do the typing.

  • Allowed: questions, criteria explained, feedback on the student's own draft
  • Not allowed: written sentences, rephrased paragraphs, supplied data or sources
  • The test: could the student explain this choice to their supervisor tomorrow?
  • Keep dated drafts and supervisor comments as the student's own trail
  • Be wary of a promised grade or a ready-made sample to work from

How do you choose a research question that will actually finish?

Almost every weak internal assessment traces back to a question chosen in an afternoon. The scope trap has a recognisable shape: the student picks something they find genuinely interesting, phrases it broadly because narrowing feels like giving up, and then discovers in week six that answering it properly would need three times the space and data they do not have access to. The draft that follows is wide and shallow, and the criteria punish exactly that. A tutor's most valuable hour in the whole engagement is the one spent making the question smaller.

The practical test is to work backwards from the evidence. Before fixing a question, write down what would have to be measured, read or collected to answer it, and then ask whether the student can actually get that, in Mumbai, in the time available, with the school's equipment. A Chemistry question that needs a spectrophotometer the laboratory does not have is not a question. An Economics question about a firm's internal pricing decisions is not a question unless somebody at that firm will talk. A Business Management question about a company with no published data is not a question. Narrowing to what is reachable is not a compromise; it is what makes analysis possible at all.

The second move is to convert a topic into a relationship. Topics do not generate analysis; comparisons and dependencies do. How does changing one named variable affect one named outcome, in one named context, over one named period? A question in that shape tells the student what to collect, tells them what their graph should show, and gives them something to be wrong about, which is where evaluation marks live. A question in the shape of what is the impact of a large thing on a large thing gives them nothing to do except summarise.

Then there is the supervisor relationship, which students chronically underuse. The scheduled meetings are not a formality and the reflection record kept alongside them is assessed in some components, so treat both as part of the work rather than paperwork around it. Students should arrive at each meeting with a specific question and leave with a written note of what was said. A tutor's job between meetings is to make the student ready to use the next one: not to replace the supervisor, not to second-guess them, and never to contact them. Where a supervisor's comment is unclear, the student goes back and asks. We have seen more marks lost to a vague comment nobody followed up than to any failure of tutoring.

  • Narrow until the evidence needed is evidence the student can actually get
  • Convert a topic into a named variable, outcome, context and period
  • If the laboratory or the data does not exist, the question does not either
  • Arrive at each supervisor meeting with one specific question
  • Write down what the supervisor said, immediately, in the student's own words
  • A tutor prepares the student for the supervisor and never replaces them

What four weeks of IA coaching can and cannot change

Four weeks in, the thing to look for is a document that exists. Not a good document. An existing one, with a fixed question, a plan for the evidence, and at least one section drafted badly. Students who are stuck on internal work are usually stuck at the start, and the first measurable output of good coaching is that the paralysis ends. If after four weeks your child still has no question and no draft, the coaching is not working and the reason is usually that sessions have been spent discussing the subject rather than producing pages.

By the end of a term, the realistic change is in the shape of the work. Description should have turned into analysis in at least some paragraphs. The student should be able to say what their weakest criterion is and why. Drafts should be getting shorter rather than longer, because cutting is what improvement looks like at this stage. And the supervisor's comments should have changed in character, from structural objections to detailed ones. That last signal is the most reliable one available to a parent who cannot judge the content.

Across a full examination cycle, be straightforward with yourself about the ceiling. Internal components are one part of a result and the written papers are a larger part, so a transformed IA does not transform a subject grade on its own. We do not guarantee grades, and anyone who does on this kind of work is either misunderstanding the moderation process or misrepresenting it. What coaching reliably delivers is a piece of work the student can defend, submitted on time, produced without an honesty problem, and a student who knows how to approach the next long-form task without panic.

The honest limits are worth listing. Coaching cannot rescue a question fixed in DP2 that was never answerable; it can only help the student make the best case available. It cannot replace data the student never collected. It cannot substitute for the supervisor, who is the person whose judgement the work is marked by first. And it cannot make an uninterested student care about a topic they chose to please somebody else, which is the most common unfixable problem we see in this work.

  • Four weeks: a fixed question and a bad first draft on paper
  • One term: description turning into analysis, drafts getting shorter
  • Supervisor comments shifting from structural to detailed is the best signal
  • Internal work is one part of a result, not the whole of it
  • Unfixable: missing data, a dead question in DP2, a topic chosen to please others

Booking IB internal assessment home classes in Mumbai

Bring four things to the first session and nothing will be wasted. The school's own IA brief or task sheet for that subject. Whatever the student has written so far, including the abandoned attempts, because a discarded paragraph often contains the question they actually wanted. Any written comment from the supervisor. And the three school dates: proposal, first full draft, final internal submission.

The first session should produce a decision, not a lecture. Expect the tutor to spend most of it interrogating the question: what exactly is being investigated, what evidence would answer it, where that evidence comes from, and whether the student can get it before the draft date. Expect them to say out loud if the question will not survive, which is unwelcome in DP1 and far more unwelcome in DP2, and expect them to help make the existing question work if there is no time to change it. Expect a short written plan afterwards that names the next three deliverables and their dates.

On fees, what you pay depends on the subject and level, how scarce that subject is in Mumbai, how far the tutor travels and in which direction, the session length, and whether written feedback between sessions is included, which is real work and is priced as such. Parents comparing IB tuition fees in Mumbai across providers should compare what is included rather than the hourly figure, because a cheap hour without written feedback on drafts is the expensive option for this kind of work. We will not quote you a figure on a web page and neither should anybody else without knowing those five things.

If the match is wrong, say so in the fourth week rather than the twelfth. The outgoing tutor writes a handover note covering the question, the evidence plan and the weakest criterion, the incoming tutor reads it before the first session so you are not paying twice for the same diagnosis, and we keep your existing slot wherever we can. Searching for the best IB tutor in Mumbai is a reasonable instinct and a poor plan; what works is a tutor who knows your child's component and will tell you the truth about the question. Good IB internal assessment help in Mumbai is judged on that honesty, not on how quickly a home tutor can make a draft look finished.

  • Bring the school's task sheet, the drafts, the supervisor comments and the dates
  • First session interrogates the question and ends with a decision
  • Expect a written plan naming the next three deliverables and dates
  • Fees depend on subject scarcity, travel, session length and written feedback
  • Raise a bad match in week four; a handover note protects the term
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

What exactly is a tutor allowed to do on my child's internal assessment?+

Coach the process and give feedback on work your child has written. A tutor can challenge a research question, explain what each criterion rewards, point at paragraphs that describe where they should analyse, ask why a conclusion follows from the data, and suggest what a next draft should attempt. A tutor cannot write sentences, rewrite paragraphs into better English, supply data or sources, or hand over a model for your child to follow closely. The working test is whether your child could explain every choice in the document to their supervisor tomorrow, unaided. If not, it should not be there.

Can a tutor travel to Powai for a short evening session after a supervisor meeting?+

Yes, and for this kind of work short local sessions are the point. Powai has no station of its own, so tutors reach Hiranandani Gardens and Chandivali by road off JVLR from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, which is quick outside the peak and slow inside it. We therefore match within that catchment rather than sending somebody from the Western Suburbs across the Western Express Highway at 7pm. If the subject is scarce enough that no local tutor teaches it, we will propose a short screen review instead of a travelled hour that will not survive the term.

Do we need a parent at home while a tutor works on draft feedback?+

Somebody should be in the house, and the session should happen in a room with the door open. That is our standing expectation and good tutors share it. You do not need to sit in, and for a seventeen-year-old it is usually better that you do not, because draft feedback involves being told your work is weak and teenagers take that badly with an audience. What you should do is look at the dated drafts afterwards and ask your child to explain one change in their own words. Thirty seconds of that tells you more than listening to the whole session. The same applies whether the home tuition happens at your dining table or on a screen in the next room.

My son has a question his supervisor says is too broad. What happens first?+

The first session narrows it, and that is the whole session. A tutor will ask what evidence would answer the question, where it comes from, and whether he can get it before the school's draft date. Broad questions usually survive in a smaller form: the same interest, one named variable, one named context, one named period. That reframing keeps the work he cares about and makes analysis possible, which is where the marks sit. He then takes the narrowed version back to the supervisor for approval, because the supervisor signs off on the question and the tutor does not.

How do IB internal assessment deadlines fall across a Mumbai school year?+

The dates that matter are the school's, not the board's. Most Mumbai schools run June to spring, with first IA conversations after the October break, proposals before the December holiday and full drafts in the second term. October and November are the worst collision, because data collection and the first mock run arrive together. January and February leave no spare week for a student carrying three unfinished pieces alongside an Extended Essay. Ask your coordinator in writing for the proposal date, the first full draft date and the final internal submission date, and plan everything against those three.

Is a Chemistry IA realistically coachable if our tutor is online?+

The writing and the thinking are, the laboratory work is not. An online tutor can work on method design, variable control, how uncertainty affects the trend, data presentation and the evaluation that most students under-write. What a screen cannot do is watch your child set up apparatus, read a scale or notice they are recording to the wrong precision. For a science IA, use the school's laboratory sessions for the practical skill and the tutor for everything surrounding it, and ask the subject teacher what the school expects students to manage unsupervised before you book anything.

We are in Kharghar. Would you send a tutor from the island city?+

Not for a weekly arrangement, no. Navi Mumbai works node to node: a tutor in Kharghar, Belapur, Nerul or Panvel reaches you along Palm Beach Road or the Sion-Panvel Highway in a time that holds up week after week, while a tutor crossing from South Mumbai is making a journey that works in June and stops working by November, even with the Atal Setu. The exception is a genuinely scarce subject, where we would rather give you the right specialist on a screen than the wrong generalist in your living room.

What do IB tuition fees depend on for internal assessment work?+

Five things, and no honest page quotes a number without them. The subject and level, since Higher Level work with draft review is not priced like a Standard Level session. Scarcity, which is why Business Management, Economics and Computer Science cost more across Mumbai than the common sciences. Travel distance and direction, since an evening crossing sells you two hours to teach one. Session length, where short frequent reviews can total more than a weekly hour. And whether written feedback between sessions is included, which is the item most worth paying for on this kind of work.

Four weeks in and there is still no draft. Is that normal?+

No, and it is the point to intervene. At four weeks you should have a fixed question, a plan for the evidence and at least one badly written section on paper. If the sessions have been spent discussing the subject rather than producing pages, the tutor is teaching when they should be project-managing. Tell us in that week. Sometimes a revised plan with three dated deliverables fixes it. Often it needs a different tutor, and we arrange that with a handover note so the new tutor starts from your child's actual draft rather than from the beginning.

Can a tutor speak to the school supervisor on our behalf?+

No, and you should not want them to. The supervisor's relationship is with your child, the comments are part of the assessed record in some components, and a tutor contacting the school muddies whose work is being judged. What a tutor should do is prepare your child to use the next meeting well: one specific question to ask, a draft to bring, and a note of what was said afterwards. If something genuinely needs raising with the school, you raise it as the parent, and the tutor helps you phrase a precise question rather than a general worry. Home tuition sits outside that relationship by design.

Can you promise a better mark on the internal component?+

We cannot, and we do not guarantee grades on any part of the Diploma. Internal work is marked by the subject teacher against published criteria and then moderated by the board, which means the final mark is not in the tutor's hands or the school's. What coaching reliably produces is a submitted piece, on time, built on a question that could be answered, with analysis where description used to be, and no authenticity problem attached to it. Be wary of any service in Mumbai that offers a guaranteed grade on internally assessed work, because the offer tells you what they are willing to do.

Is IB Gram connected to our school in any way?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation to any school named on this page, and we do not approach schools, request unpublished marking material or contact individual teachers. Schools appear here because Mumbai parents recognise their calendars and their reporting rhythms. A home tutor for Internal Assessment (IA) Mumbai families book through us works from the school's published task sheet and the student's own supervisor comments, which is the only material a tutor should be working from in the first place.

Send the subject, the year, the school's task sheet and whatever your child has written, including the abandoned attempts. We come back with two or three tutors who teach that subject at Diploma level and can describe how they give feedback without touching the prose. You speak to them first.
