IB & IGCSE Tutors for Ryan Global School Students

Searching for an IB and IGCSE tutor for Ryan Global School students in Mumbai throws up one answer for Worli and a completely different one for Kandivali. The two campuses sit roughly thirty kilometres apart with separate tutor markets. IB Gram matches home tuition by campus first and subject second, so the weekly slot you agree in week one still holds in week twelve.

How does IB Gram shortlist an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai for a Ryan Global School family?

The shortlist starts with the campus, not the subject. Tell IB Gram whether your child attends the Kandivali campus or the Worli campus, add the board, the year group and the two evenings that are genuinely free, and you will see two or three verified tutors who can reach your building on those evenings and keep doing it for a full term. Everything else is secondary to that one filter.

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. It is not affiliated with Ryan Global School, not endorsed by it, and not connected to it in any way. Most parents arrive here because they typed the school name into Google, so it is worth saying plainly at the top rather than in small print at the bottom. What IB Gram actually provides is an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai who works confidently in the two boards your child is sitting, and who lives close enough for a standing weekly slot to survive the traffic.

The process runs in five steps. 1. You send the campus, the board, the year group, the subjects and your two or three workable evening slots. 2. Travel is filtered before anything else, because a tutor who cannot be at your door by seven on a Tuesday is not a match however good the subject fit looks on paper. 3. You receive two or three profiles carrying qualifications, boards taught, areas covered and current availability. 4. You take a paid first session with whichever tutor you prefer, and that session is run as a diagnostic rather than as a lesson. 5. You say whether it worked, and if it did not, the match is replaced without a negotiation.

The diagnostic is the part that tells you most. A competent tutor will ask to see the last two pieces of marked work, the subject guide or syllabus the child is genuinely following, and whatever assessment calendar the school has issued for the term. By the end of ninety minutes they should be able to name one specific thing: not that your child should work harder, but that your child loses marks on command words in extended-response questions, or cannot set up a stoichiometry calculation without being prompted, or writes a Theory of Knowledge paragraph with a claim and no counterclaim. If the first session produces only encouragement, that is useful information about the tutor rather than about the child.

  • Campus, board, year group and two free evenings: that is the whole enquiry
  • Travel filtered before subject matching, so the slot survives a full term
  • Two or three profiles, not a list of twenty to sift through yourself
  • First session diagnoses marked work instead of selling a package
  • One message replaces a tutor who is not working out

IB and IGCSE programme structure across both Ryan Global School campuses in Mumbai

Ryan Global School is publicly listed with campuses including Kandivali and Worli in Mumbai, offering International Baccalaureate (IB) and IGCSE pathways. Exactly which programme runs in which year group at which campus is the school's own information and it does change, so confirm it at the school office rather than taking it from any tutoring website, including this one. A tutor only needs two facts from you: which programme your child is in this year, and which one they are heading into next.

On the IB side the structure is three stacked programmes. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is inquiry-led with no external examinations. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) assesses every subject against four published criteria, each marked out of eight, which is why an MYP report can show a child who is strong on Criterion A knowledge and weak on Criterion D reflection in the same subject. The Diploma Programme (DP) is the two-year sixth-form qualification: six subjects drawn from the subject groups, three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL), plus the core of Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the creativity, activity and service requirement.

On the IGCSE side the two awarding bodies families here meet are Cambridge International Education and Pearson Edexcel. Cambridge splits many subjects into a Core tier and an Extended tier, and the tier decision made in Year 9 or Year 10 caps the grade available later, which makes it the single most consequential conversation of the IGCSE Years 9-11 block. Pearson Edexcel grades on the 9-1 scale and structures its papers differently, so a tutor who says IGCSE without naming the board and the syllabus code is guessing.

The two transition points are where most enquiries come from. The first is MYP Year 5 into DP1, where a child moves from criteria-based marking to raw marks and examiner mark schemes. The second is IGCSE Year 11 into DP1, where subject choice suddenly has to carry HL decisions. Finding someone who can genuinely teach all IB and IGCSE subjects across IGCSE Years 9-11 with one tutor in Mumbai is rare, and a parent is usually better served by one strong tutor in the subject that is actually failing plus a short block of help on the choice itself.

  • MYP marks four criteria out of eight each, not a single percentage
  • DP means six subjects, three Higher Level and three Standard Level
  • Cambridge Core versus Extended caps the grade available in Year 11
  • Ask which board and syllabus code before agreeing any IGCSE tutor
  • MYP to DP1 and Year 11 to DP1 are the two pressure transitions

Subject choice, HL and SL, Core and Extended: where the marks are actually lost

Marks are rarely lost because a child does not know the content. They are lost on the structure of the assessment: the command word, the mark scheme's expected form of words, the internal assessment criterion that was never read properly, and the tier or level decision taken a year earlier. A tutor who starts by teaching the topic again from the beginning is solving the wrong problem and will burn a term doing it.

Every subject carries its own internal component and they are not interchangeable. DP Sciences carry a single Internal Assessment (IA) investigation assessed on criteria that reward a focused research question over an ambitious one. DP Mathematics carries an exploration that fails most often on personal engagement and mathematical communication rather than on the mathematics. DP English carries an individual oral tied to a global issue and two set texts. MYP subjects carry the Personal Project in the final year, which is assessed on process rather than product and which eats the same fortnight as everything else. On the IGCSE side, Cambridge Sciences carry either a laboratory paper or Paper 6, the Alternative to Practical, and the two demand completely different preparation.

A worked example, since Paper 6 is where confident students quietly lose grades. A Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry Alternative to Practical question gives a table of three burette readings from a titration, one of which is nearly a full cubic centimetre away from the other two. The question asks which results should be used to calculate the mean, and why. There are separate marks for selecting the two concordant titres, for stating that the third is anomalous and excluding it for that reason, for the arithmetic, and for carrying the unit. A student who averages all three loses three of four marks while knowing the chemistry perfectly well. The follow-up part asks for one improvement to the method, where be more careful scores nothing and add the acid dropwise near the end point scores the mark. That is a two-session fix and it is worth more than a month of revisiting bonding.

Be sceptical of anyone offering to cover every subject. No single person teaches all IB and IGCSE subjects well, and any tutor in Mumbai who claims to is overselling. The honest pattern is one tutor for Mathematics, one for the Science that is wobbling, and occasional short-block help for a language or for TOK. IB Gram matches that way instead of selling a bundle, and will tell you when a subject is scarce enough that online is the realistic option.

  • Command words and mark scheme wording cost more marks than missing content
  • DP Science IA rewards a narrow research question over an ambitious one
  • Cambridge Paper 6 Alternative to Practical needs its own preparation
  • Anomalous-result questions carry marks for the reason, not just the maths
  • One tutor per weak subject beats one tutor for everything

Worli, Prabhadevi, Kandivali and Borivali: where IB and IGCSE home tuition in Mumbai happens

Start with the island city. Worli and Prabhadevi families sit in dense residential towers within a few kilometres of each other, served by Prabhadevi station on the Western Line, by the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to the north and by the Coastal Road, with Metro Line 3 running underground from Cuffe Parade towards BKC. Distances in South Mumbai are short and the clock is still against you: a tutor crossing from Worli to Colaba covers eight kilometres and can lose forty minutes at the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. In practice tutors for Worli and Prabhadevi are drawn from inside the island, which means Lower Parel, Mahalaxmi, Dadar, Tardeo, Cuffe Parade and Colaba, with Bandra at the outer edge of workable.

Now the north-west. Kandivali West, Kandivali East and Borivali families live along a corridor that works completely differently: Link Road and the Western Express Highway running north to south, Kandivali station on the Western Line, and Metro Lines 2A and 7 overhead from Dahisar through Andheri to Gundavali. Supply here is local and deep, because tutors live in the same corridor as the families, in Malad, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar. Thakur International School in Kandivali East, which also runs IGCSE and IB DP, is part of the same local picture, and the Thakur Complex area is a useful landmark when you are explaining to a tutor where you actually are.

The rest of Mumbai, Maharashtra matters because families move and because tutors travel. In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali hang off JVLR with no station of their own, so tutors reach them by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, while Mulund and Kurla sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway with the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road cutting across. In the Eastern Suburbs, Chembur, Wadala, Vikhroli and Bhandup are served by the Central and Harbour lines, and the Eastern Freeway makes South Mumbai reachable from Chembur far faster than the map suggests.

Beyond the city, Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes, so Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are each a short drive from the next along Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, with the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Atal Setu now shortening the island crossing. Tutors there are matched node to node. Thane spreads from the station east along Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Ghodbunder Road, where a tutor living near the station reaches Kasarvadavali in twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour in the evening. If you live in these zones and commute into either campus, say so in your first message, because the tutor should be matched to where the child sleeps and not to where the school is.

  • Worli and Prabhadevi tutors come from inside the island city
  • Kandivali West, Kandivali East and Borivali share one Link Road supply corridor
  • Metro Lines 2A and 7 make a late north-west finish workable
  • Powai and Chandivali are reached by road off JVLR, never by train
  • Navi Mumbai and Thane families are matched node to node, not across the creek

The Mumbai school year, and the months when IB and IGCSE deadlines actually bite

International schools across Mumbai run a June to April year, and that single fact explains most of the panic calls IB Gram takes. The year opens inside the monsoon, which is also when evening travel is least reliable, so new home tuition slots agreed in June and July should be booked with an online fallback built in from the start. The first MYP criteria tasks and IGCSE unit tests land in late July and August, which is the first honest signal of where a child stands.

October brings the Diwali break, and the week after it is the most common starting point for tuition because the first real reports have landed. November and December are the first hard pressure point: IGCSE and DP mock examinations, DP1 students producing first IA drafts, and MYP students being pushed on the Personal Project at the same time. Late January and February are the second and sharper one, because DP2 final IA deadlines, the Extended Essay submission and the TOK essay all sit within a few weeks of each other, and a tutor booked in January is often booking into a queue.

March and April are IGCSE coursework, practical examinations and then the written examinations of the May session, which is the session the overwhelming majority of Mumbai candidates sit. A smaller number sit the November session, usually retakes or students who moved schools mid-cycle. Working backwards from May, the useful calendar is simple: diagnose by October, build technique from November to January, and spend February to April on past papers under timed conditions. A parent who starts in March is buying triage, and an honest tutor will say so rather than promise a transformation.

One more boundary worth stating since this page is built around a school name. IB Gram is independent and has no affiliation with Ryan Global School; nothing on this page reflects the school's own calendar, its internal assessment schedule or any information held by its staff. Families looking for an IB and IGCSE home tutor for Ryan Global School students in Mumbai are matched on the board, the year group and the campus, never on anything the school holds. What is described here is the ordinary shape of the IB and IGCSE year as it runs across Mumbai schools. Your child's actual deadline list comes from the school, and the right first step is to put that list in front of the tutor in session one.

  • June start inside the monsoon: agree an online fallback immediately
  • The week after Diwali is when most tuition enquiries land
  • November and December: mocks, first IA drafts, Personal Project together
  • Late January and February: final IAs, Extended Essay and TOK essay collide
  • Diagnose by October if you want technique work before the May session

Is home tuition, online or hybrid better for IB and IGCSE students in Mumbai?

Home tuition wins for most students below DP2, online wins when the subject is scarce, and hybrid wins for the monsoon and for examination terms. That is the honest summary. A fourteen-year-old working through IGCSE Years 9-11 generally needs a person in the room, because half the value of the session is that the laptop closes and the phone goes face down. A DP2 student revising HL Mathematics at ten at night does not need anyone to travel, and insisting on it just wastes everyone's evening.

An IB and IGCSE home tutor for Ryan Global School students in Mumbai is the lead service here for a practical reason: it is what actually gets used. The session happens at the dining table, the parent hears the last ten minutes, and the marked work is physically on the table rather than screenshotted. The trade-offs are real though. Travel means the slot is fixed, so a 6.30pm Tuesday stays a 6.30pm Tuesday and cannot drift. Your society gate process matters, and a tutor who has to argue at the gate every week will eventually stop coming. Worli towers usually need a visitor register entry or a pre-approved name on the list; Kandivali and Borivali buildings are often more relaxed but the lift queue at seven is its own tax.

Online is not a lesser product, it is a different one. An IB and IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai makes sense for HL Economics, Computer Science, Business Management, Spanish ab initio, Music, Psychology and the other subjects where the city has few genuinely experienced teachers and they are all busy. It also makes sense for short, frequent sessions: three forty-minute sessions a week on Mathematics technique beats one two-hour block, and nobody travels three times. What online costs you is supervision and the informal reading of body language, which matters most for the students who most need it.

Hybrid is what most families settle into by the second term, and it is worth planning for rather than drifting into. One home session a week for the subject that needs presence, one online session for drilling or for a scarce subject, and a switch to fully online in June and July when the rain makes the 7pm arrival a coin toss. An IB and IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai who refuses to work this way is telling you something about how they manage their own calendar.

  • Below DP2, a person in the room is usually worth the travel
  • Fixed home slots cannot drift, which is both the cost and the point
  • Scarce HL subjects are easier to staff well online than at your door
  • Three short online sessions beat one long block for technique drilling
  • Plan the monsoon switch to online in June rather than cancelling sessions

How a tutor is verified, and the three things you should check yourself

Verification covers identity, qualifications and board experience before any profile reaches you, and it stops there. IB Gram checks a government photo identity document, the degree or teaching certificates a tutor claims, which boards and syllabus codes they have actually taught, and references from previous families where those exist. A subject conversation happens before listing, because a tutor who cannot explain the difference between Cambridge Core and Extended on a phone call will not manage it with your child.

There is a boundary that matters more on a page like this one than anywhere else. No tutor on IB Gram has access to Ryan Global School's internal mark schemes, its staff, its teaching materials, its report comments or its predicted grades, and none of them will claim to. IB Gram is an independent platform with no affiliation to the school and no channel into it. If anyone offering you an IB and IGCSE tutor for Ryan Global School students in Mumbai hints at inside knowledge of the school's papers, its marking or its teachers, that is the point at which you stop the conversation. Published IB and Cambridge subject guides, past papers and examiner reports are public documents and they are all a good tutor needs.

Then there are the three checks only you can run, and they take about ten minutes. First, ask for the syllabus code and the most recent cohort they taught it to; vagueness here is the single most reliable warning sign. Second, put one past-paper question in front of them and ask them to mark your child's existing answer out loud against the mark scheme. A tutor who can tell you exactly where the two marks went is worth more than a tutor with a longer list of credentials. Third, ask what they intend to do in week one and listen for a plan with a sequence in it rather than an assurance.

What all of this amounts to is that the best IB and IGCSE tutor in Mumbai for a DP1 Chemistry student who is losing marks on data analysis is simply not the same person as the one who suits an IGCSE Year 9 student who has not yet learned how to revise. Verification tells you a tutor is who they say they are and can teach what they say they teach. The match tells you whether they fit this child, this subject and this term, and that part is a judgement you make in the first session.

  • Photo identity, certificates and board experience checked before listing
  • No tutor has or claims access to any school's internal materials
  • Ask for the syllabus code and the last cohort taught
  • Watch them mark one real answer against the published mark scheme
  • Week-one plan with a sequence beats a longer list of credentials

Why does one school name need two completely different tutor searches in Mumbai?

Because the campuses are about thirty kilometres apart and sit in two tutor markets that share nothing except the name on the uniform. Worli is in the island city. Kandivali is in the far north-west. A shortlist that is right for one is useless for the other, which is why the first question IB Gram asks is never the subject. Read your own campus correctly and the rest of the search gets much shorter.

The Worli answer looks like this. You are drawing on two separate pools. The first is tutors who live inside the island city, in Lower Parel, Mahalaxmi, Dadar, Tardeo or Prabhadevi, who can be with you in twenty minutes and will hold a weekday evening indefinitely. The second is experienced suburban tutors who will come across the Bandra-Worli Sea Link for a well-paid weekend block but will quietly stop agreeing to a 7pm Tuesday by about week four. The towers themselves help: residential density in Worli and Prabhadevi is high enough that a tutor often has two or three students in the same building or the same lane, which makes your slot more valuable to them and therefore more stable. Ask a prospective tutor where their other current students live. If the answer is your own postcode, your slot will survive.

The Kandivali answer looks nothing like that. Supply runs as a chain along Link Road and the Western Express Highway, from Dahisar through Borivali, Kandivali and Malad into Goregaon, and the tutors live in it. That means genuinely local availability for IGCSE Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and for DP Mathematics and the Sciences, at weekday times that would be impossible in South Mumbai. Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made a 9pm finish workable for a tutor who would once have left at eight to beat the highway. It also means thinner supply at the top end: a DP HL Economics or a second-language specialist is harder to find locally here, and that is exactly the case where online is the correct answer rather than the compromise.

So the decision is not which tutor but which market you are shopping in, and the cost of getting it wrong is delayed. A mismatched shortlist does not fail in week one, when everybody is enthusiastic; it fails in week three or four, when the travel reality arrives and the sessions start moving. A search for IB and IGCSE tutors near me in Mumbai returns the same undifferentiated list to a Worli parent and a Kandivali parent, which is precisely the problem. If you want one tutor covering all IB and IGCSE subjects through home classes across Mumbai you will be disappointed, but if you tell IB Gram the campus, the board and the two evenings that work, the IB and IGCSE home tuition in Mumbai you end up with will be built around travel that actually holds.

  • Roughly thirty kilometres and two tutor markets with nothing in common
  • Worli draws island-city residents plus weekend-only tutors from the suburbs
  • Ask where a tutor's other current students live before committing
  • Kandivali has deep local supply for IGCSE Maths and Science
  • Scarce Higher Level subjects in the north-west are better staffed online
  • A wrong-campus shortlist fails in week three, not week one

What should progress look like after four weeks of home tuition?

After four weeks you should have a diagnosis and a working habit, not a grade. Four sessions is enough for a tutor to tell you precisely which marks are being dropped and why, to have fixed one mechanical weakness, and to have established that your child arrives at the session with the marked work out. If after a month the tutor still cannot name the specific failure mode, the problem is the tutor and the match should change.

After one term the measurable things are technique and timing. A student who could not finish an IGCSE Extended paper should now be finishing it. A DP1 student whose IA research question kept sprawling should have a narrow one approved. Topic test scores usually move before examination grades do, and they move unevenly, which is normal: a Chemistry student who fixes calculation layout can gain visibly in one unit test and look flat in the next one on organic reactions. Judge the trend across a term rather than any single paper, and ask the tutor at the end of the term to show you the past-paper marks alongside the dates.

After one full examination cycle you can judge outcomes, and this is where honesty matters more than optimism. IB Gram does not guarantee grades. No tutor can, and anybody who does is either misunderstanding how the IB and Cambridge grade boundaries work or is simply hoping you will not check later. Tutoring changes the probability of a result; it does not control it. Attendance, sleep, the number of subjects a child is carrying and whether the school's own deadlines are being met all sit outside a tutor's reach.

There are limits worth naming before you start. A tutor cannot write or substantially edit an Internal Assessment or an Extended Essay, and should refuse to, because both boards treat that as academic misconduct and the consequences land on the student rather than on the tutor. A tutor cannot undo two years of gaps in one term, and will tell you which subject to prioritise if you are late. And a tutor cannot fix a subject the child should not be taking, which is a conversation a good one will start rather than avoid.

  • Four weeks: a named failure mode and one mechanical fix, not a grade
  • One term: finishing papers on time and a narrowed IA research question
  • Ask for past-paper marks with dates at the end of each term
  • Topic scores move unevenly across units; judge the term trend
  • No tutor writes or edits an IA or Extended Essay, ever

Starting IB and IGCSE home classes in Mumbai: what to have ready

Five things make the first message useful: the campus, the board and year group, the subjects that are actually a problem, the two or three evenings that genuinely work, and your area with the nearest station or main road. An IB and IGCSE home tutor for Ryan Global School students in Mumbai is matched on exactly that information and nothing longer. That is enough to produce a shortlist the same day in most parts of the city, and everything else can be sorted out in the first conversation.

Have three documents to hand for session one. The last two pieces of marked work, including the ones with poor marks, because those are where the diagnosis comes from. The subject guide or syllabus with its code, so there is no argument about Core versus Extended or HL versus SL. And the school's assessment calendar for the term, which lets the tutor plan backwards from the real deadline rather than from a generic schedule. Parents who send these three things get a materially better first session than parents who send a list of worries.

Then sort out access before the tutor arrives rather than at the gate. Tell your society office that a tutor will come weekly, get the name on the visitor list where that is how the building works, and agree the study space in advance: a table, a chair, a plug point and a door that closes beats a sofa in the living room with the television on. In Worli and Prabhadevi towers that usually means a pre-approved entry; in Kandivali and Borivali buildings it is often a register at the desk. Either way, a tutor who gets in without friction comes back.

The first session itself is ninety minutes and is not a lesson. The tutor reads the marked work, puts one or two past-paper questions in front of your child under light time pressure, watches how they approach the question rather than whether they get the answer, and then tells you both what the plan for the next four weeks is. You should finish it knowing what is being fixed first and roughly how the term will run. If you do not, say so, and the match changes.

  • Send campus, board, year, subjects, two evenings and your nearest station
  • Bring the last two marked papers, including the bad ones
  • Have the syllabus code ready to settle Core, Extended, HL or SL
  • Clear gate access and name the study space before session one
  • First session is ninety minutes of diagnosis plus a four-week plan
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Is IB Gram connected to Ryan Global School in any way?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Ryan Global School. We have no relationship with the school, its management or its teachers, and no access to its internal materials, mark schemes, report comments or predicted grades. We name the school on this page only because parents search for it, and because the IB and IGCSE calendar their children work to is the context a tutor has to plan around. Everything specific to your child's school, from deadline dates to subject sets, should come from the school itself.

My child is at the Worli campus. Will you send a tutor from the suburbs?+

Usually not for a weekday evening slot. Worli and Prabhadevi enquiries are matched from inside the island city first, which in practice means Lower Parel, Mahalaxmi, Dadar, Tardeo, Cuffe Parade and Colaba, with Bandra at the outer edge. A tutor crossing the Bandra-Worli Sea Link or coming down the Coastal Road from the Western Suburbs can make a weekend block work reliably, but a 7pm Tuesday tends to start slipping by week four. If the subject is scarce enough that the only strong tutor lives in the Western Suburbs, we will say so and recommend online or a weekend slot instead of pretending the travel will hold.

We are at the Kandivali campus. How do you find someone for weekday evenings?+

By matching inside the Link Road corridor, which is the main advantage of being in the north-west. Tutors who live in Kandivali West, Kandivali East, Borivali, Malad, Goregaon or Dahisar reach you without crossing the city, and Metro Lines 2A and 7 plus the Western Express Highway make a late finish workable for them. That gives genuinely deep weekday availability for IGCSE Mathematics and the Sciences, and for DP Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The honest exception is the top end of the Diploma Programme, where a Higher Level Economics or second-language specialist may not live in your corridor at all.

What do IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai depend on?+

Five things, and we will not quote a figure because any number on a page like this would be wrong for half the people reading it. Fees move with the board and level, since Diploma Programme Higher Level work costs more than IGCSE Year 9 support. They move with subject scarcity, because there are far fewer experienced Theory of Knowledge or Higher Level Economics teachers than Mathematics teachers. They move with travel distance and the time of day, which is why a 7pm slot across the city prices differently from a 5pm slot in your own lane. They move with session length and frequency, and with whether the format is home, online or hybrid. Ask any tutor to break their rate down along those five lines.

Can one tutor cover all my child's subjects?+

Almost never, and you should treat the offer as a warning rather than a convenience. Across the two boards and the levels involved, nobody teaches every subject to examination standard. What works is one tutor for the subject that is genuinely failing, a second if a different subject is also in trouble, and occasional short blocks for a language, Theory of Knowledge or an Internal Assessment. Two tutors doing a narrow job well cost less in wasted sessions than one generalist doing a broad job adequately. If you want a single point of contact, that is what the matching platform is for.

Does online tutoring really work for IB and IGCSE, or is it a compromise?+

It works well for specific situations and poorly for others, so the answer depends on the student. Online is genuinely the better choice when the subject is scarce, when you want three short technique sessions a week rather than one long block, when a Diploma Programme student is revising late at night, and through the monsoon when evening travel is unpredictable. It is weaker for younger IGCSE students who need supervision to stay off their phone, and for diagnostic work where a tutor is reading hesitation and body language. Most families end up hybrid by the second term, which is a sensible destination rather than a halfway house.

What happens if the tutor is not working out after three sessions?+

You tell us and we replace the match. There is no argument, no notice period to serve out and no need to justify the decision in detail, though the detail is useful because it makes the next match better. Saying the explanations are too fast, or that the sessions keep drifting into content revision when the problem is examination technique, lets us filter differently rather than sending a near-identical profile. Three sessions is a reasonable point to judge. One is too early, because a diagnostic session is deliberately uncomfortable, and a full term is too late to recover cheaply.

There has been no visible progress after a month. What should we do?+

Ask the tutor one specific question before changing anything: name the marks being lost and show me the evidence. A tutor doing the job will answer with something concrete, such as your child loses the method marks because working is not written down, and will show you the scripts. If the answer is general encouragement about confidence and effort, the match is wrong and should change. Also check what is realistic: four weeks produces a diagnosis and one mechanical fix, not a grade jump. Topic test scores typically move before examination grades, and they move unevenly from unit to unit.

Do your tutors have past papers or materials from the school itself?+

No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. No tutor on IB Gram has access to Ryan Global School's internal question papers, mark schemes, teaching materials or staff, and we are not affiliated with the school in any way. What a good tutor works from is public: the published IB subject guides, the Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel syllabuses and specimen papers, past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports. That material is more than enough, because the external examination is what actually sets the grade. Anyone claiming insider access to a school's assessments is either exaggerating or describing something you do not want to be part of.

Does a parent need to be at home during the session, and what space is needed?+

Someone should be at home, though they do not need to be in the room. For students under sixteen we recommend an adult present in the flat as a matter of ordinary caution, with the session happening in a space that is visible rather than behind a closed bedroom door. The practical requirements are small: a table, two chairs, a plug point and enough quiet that nobody has to repeat themselves. Clear the gate access in advance, because a tutor who argues with security every week will eventually stop accepting the slot, and that is the commonest reason a good match quietly dies.

My child is in IGCSE Year 9 and has to pick subjects. Can a tutor help decide?+

Yes, and a short block of two or three sessions is usually better value than a term of teaching. The decisions that matter are the Core versus Extended tier, since the tier caps the grade available in Year 11, and which combination keeps the Diploma Programme options open at Higher Level two years later. A tutor who teaches the subject can tell you what the Extended paper actually demands compared with Core, and where your child currently sits against that. The school's own guidance counsellor should lead the decision; an external tutor is a second opinion on the subject-level reality.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send one message with the campus, the board and year group, the subjects that are actually a problem, and the two evenings that genuinely work. You will get two or three verified profiles with qualifications, boards taught and availability, usually the same day. Pick one, take the ninety-minute diagnostic first session, and decide afterwards. If the fit is wrong, say so and the match is replaced.
