IB IGCSE Private Tutor in Mumbai

Hiring an IB IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai is usually an informal arrangement between one family and one teacher, and almost nobody writes it down. This page covers the part everyone skips: what a sensible home tuition understanding should say about the slot, cancellations, marking, feedback, boundaries and payment, agreed before anything goes wrong in February.

Slot, notice and payment terms agreed in writing before session one
Tutors never write any part of an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay
Identity, qualifications and subject teaching history checked before a tutor is listed
Either side can end the arrangement using the notice agreed upfront

How IB Gram shortlists an IB IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai

A request for an IB and IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai almost always arrives with too little detail, and that is normal. A parent writes that their daughter is in Year 10 at a school in Juhu, that Chemistry is the problem, and that nobody in the house is free before seven in the evening. The first job is to turn that into something a tutor can answer honestly: which board the school actually enters her for, whether she is heading for Core or Extended papers, how many subjects genuinely need help and how many are fine, and which two evenings can be held every single week for the rest of the term rather than whichever evening happens to be free this week.

The shortlist that comes back is deliberately short. Three names a parent will actually ring beats twelve profiles nobody opens. Each name arrives with the syllabus that tutor currently teaches, the zone they travel inside, and the slots they still have free. Parents then speak to them directly, and the questions worth asking at that point are not about qualifications, which have already been checked, but about how the arrangement will run week to week: how far ahead the slot is protected, what happens when the tutor is unwell or stuck on the Western Express Highway, whether work set between sessions comes back marked, and how a parent hears about progress without having to ask for an update every fortnight.

Then comes the step that private arrangements skip almost every time. Before the first session, both sides put the terms into one message: the day and time, the notice each side gives, what a cancelled session counts as, whether marking is included, how often feedback reaches the parent, what the tutor will not do, and how payment and records work. It takes ten minutes in June and it is close to impossible to raise calmly in February, when a Diploma Programme (DP) student has three Internal Assessment (IA) deadlines inside a fortnight and the tutor has four other families asking for extra hours. Writing it down early is not suspicion. It is the cheapest way to avoid a bad ending to something that started well.

  • 1. Send board, year group, subjects and the two evenings you can hold
  • 2. We shortlist tutors already teaching that syllabus inside your travel zone
  • 3. You speak to two or three tutors directly before anything is booked
  • 4. Both sides put slot, notice, marking, feedback and payment in one message
  • 5. The first session runs and you tell us whether to continue or reshortlist

IGCSE Years 9 to 11, the MYP and the Diploma change what you should agree

The programme your child is in decides how much of a written understanding you actually need. In Years 9 to 11 the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) runs as a two year examined course with Year 9 used as preparation, and the school decides whether a student is entered for Core or Extended papers in Maths and the sciences. That decision can move as late as final entries, which matters for an agreement: if the tier changes in January, the work changes, the session length may need to change, and both sides should already know who raises that and when. Write in a line saying the subject list and tier can be reviewed once a term without either side treating it as a renegotiation.

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) sits differently. MYP 4 and 5 are marked against criteria rather than grade boundaries, there is a personal project to steer, and a tutor used only to Cambridge International Education mark schemes will mark an MYP task wrongly without realising it. The Diploma Programme (DP) adds another layer again: six subjects split across Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL), plus Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and the Internal Assessment in nearly every subject. An HL subject usually needs a longer session than an SL one, and from the first week of DP1 the boundary around what a tutor may touch on the EE and the IA should already be written down rather than discovered later.

One practical consequence. A family that wants all IB and IGCSE subjects covered by home classes in Mumbai will end up with two or three tutors, not one, because nobody teaches DP Chemistry HL and DP English Literature HL to the same standard. When there is more than one tutor, the agreement should name which tutor owns which subject and who the parent speaks to about the overall picture. Arrangements fall apart far more often because two tutors each assumed the other was covering a subject than because either of them taught badly.

  • Year 9 is preparation; the examined IGCSE course runs across Years 10 and 11
  • Core and Extended entry is the school's call and can move before final entries
  • Diploma Higher Level subjects usually need a longer session than Standard Level ones
  • MYP criteria marking is not IGCSE grade boundaries and needs a different habit
  • Name one tutor per subject in writing so no subject is silently uncovered

Subjects, papers and what marking between home classes should include

Subject choice across both boards is where most of the difficulty hides. At IGCSE a family picks between separate sciences, Coordinated Sciences and Combined Science, and those are genuinely different entries with different paper counts, not three names for one course. Maths splits into Core and Extended. At Diploma level Maths splits again into Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, and a tutor strong in one is not automatically strong in the other. Languages run from Language A Literature through Language B to ab initio. Every one of these carries internal work: coursework in several IGCSE subjects, an Internal Assessment in almost every Diploma subject, plus the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay sitting across the whole Diploma.

That internal work is why the marking clause matters more than parents expect. Marking is real labour and it is not automatically bundled into the hour you booked. An IGCSE Maths problem set takes fifteen minutes to mark and can come back the next morning. A Diploma History essay or an English Literature commentary takes considerably longer and should come back before the next session rather than being read aloud during it, which wastes the slot. An Internal Assessment draft is a third category: the tutor reads it against the published criteria and writes comments against each strand, and does not rewrite sentences, retype paragraphs or work inside the student's own document. Put a number and a turnaround in the message. Two marked pieces a month returned inside three days is a clear line that both sides can hold.

No one teaches all IB and IGCSE subjects and any tutor in Mumbai who says otherwise is telling you something useful about themselves. Some subjects are simply scarcer than others here. Economics, Business Management and Psychology are reasonably well covered across the city. Design Technology, Visual Arts, Computer Science at Higher Level, and second languages such as French, Spanish or Hindi B take longer to match and may need an online tutor rather than one who can reach Kandivali on a Tuesday. Expect the scarce subject to set the schedule for the whole week, and agree its slot first.

  • Agree how many marked pieces a month are included, and the turnaround
  • Separate sciences, Coordinated Sciences and Combined Science are different IGCSE entries
  • Diploma Maths splits into Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation
  • An IA draft gets written criteria comments, never rewritten sentences from the tutor
  • Scarce subjects such as Design Technology or Hindi B take longer to match

Mumbai coverage zone by zone, and how far ahead a slot is held

IB Gram matches across Mumbai, Maharashtra, from Colaba to Kasarvadavali, and the single most useful thing to write into an arrangement is how far in advance the weekly slot is protected. In South Mumbai the distances are short and the clock is not. A tutor leaving Worli for Colaba covers around eight kilometres and can still lose forty minutes at the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals. Families in Cuffe Parade, Napean Sea Road, Breach Candy and Walkeshwar are therefore matched inside the island rather than pulled down from the suburbs, working off the Western Line into Churchgate and Grant Road, the Harbour Line to Dockyard, and now the Coastal Road and Metro Line 3 between Cuffe Parade and the Bandra Kurla Complex. For this zone, hold the slot for the term and keep it off the evening peak.

The Western Suburbs run north to south along the Western Express Highway, the Link Road and the Western Line, which means a tutor going Bandra to Andheri is quick at four in the afternoon and defeated at six. IB and IGCSE home tuition in Mumbai works best when the tutor lives within two stations of you, so Khar West to Santacruz holds for a year and Malad to Kandivali holds for a year, while Borivali to Bandra does not. Metro Line 1 across Versova, Andheri and Ghatkopar, and Lines 2A and 7 from Dahisar down to Gundavali, have made some cross-suburb matches workable that were not before, and Juhu, Goregaon and Dahisar families should ask a tutor which line they would use before agreeing a start time.

The Central Suburbs sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road in between. Powai has no station of its own, so tutors reach it by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, and a Powai slot should always carry a written grace window. The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, on the Central and Harbour lines, the Eastern Express Highway and the Monorail, and the Eastern Freeway makes South Mumbai reachable from Chembur and Wadala faster than the map suggests.

Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes, so Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are matched node to node along Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway, with the Trans Harbour Line and Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 filling the gaps. The Atal Setu has shortened the run from the island city, but a tutor making that crossing twice a week on a school night rarely lasts a full term, and the agreement should say so honestly rather than pretend. Thane spreads from the station east across Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Ghodbunder Road to Hiranandani Estate and Kasarvadavali, and the Ghodbunder stretch sets the whole schedule: twenty minutes off peak, close to an hour at seven in the evening.

  • Agree the slot for a full term rather than confirming it week by week
  • Match inside your zone: Khar West to Santacruz holds, Thane to Colaba does not
  • Write a monsoon fallback into the message: same slot, online, same week
  • Evening slots after seven fill first in Bandra, Powai and Kharghar
  • Arrange a standing gate pass instead of a fresh visitor entry every week

The Mumbai school calendar decides when this conversation is easy

The Mumbai international school year starts in June, and June and July are the two months when a tutoring arrangement can be set up slowly and sensibly. First assessments land by August. October brings term tests and Diploma mock cycles, which give the first honest reading on whether a new subject tutor is working. November and December are busy but navigable. Then January and February arrive, and almost every internal deadline in the Diploma Programme lands in the same few weeks: Internal Assessments across most subjects, the Extended Essay final submission, the Theory of Knowledge essay. March and April go to revision and school prelims, May carries the Diploma examinations, and the IGCSE May and June series follows straight behind.

Families at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul all work to broadly this shape, with their own internal deadlines layered on top. This is why February is the worst month to start a private arrangement and an even worse month to change the terms of one. Tutor availability is at its annual low, the student is under genuine pressure, and the parent has almost no leverage because changing tutors in February costs more than putting up with a tutor who is not quite right. A June conversation costs nothing. The same conversation in February costs the term.

IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named on this page, with the International Baccalaureate organisation, with Cambridge International Education or with Pearson Edexcel. Schools are named here as local context only, because their calendars set the pressure points a Mumbai family is actually planning around. No tutor listed with us speaks for a school, and no school has endorsed us. If a tutor implies otherwise during a first call, that is worth noticing.

  • June and July are the calmest months to agree terms properly
  • October term tests give the first honest read on a new subject tutor
  • January and February carry IA, EE and TOK deadlines in the same weeks
  • May examinations end the arrangement unless you agree otherwise in writing
  • School holidays are not automatic breaks; say which weeks pause in the message

Is home tuition or online better for private tutoring in Mumbai?

Home tuition is the better default and online is the better backup. An IB and IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai who comes to your flat gets a student who cannot quietly open another tab, a desk the family controls, and a parent close enough to know whether the hour happened. Online holds the slot on the evening the Western Express Highway does not. Most arrangements that survive a full year use both, with one of them written in as the default.

The honest trade-offs run in both directions. Home sessions cost the tutor travel time they are not teaching in, which is why a tutor who takes a six o'clock slot across the city will eventually ask to move it, and why that request should not come as a surprise. A home session also depends on the household being quiet, which a flat with a younger sibling and a television is not. Online removes the travel entirely, which makes an IB and IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai the realistic answer for a scarce Higher Level subject or for a family in Panvel who would otherwise be matched with nobody. Online is good for screen shared worked solutions in Maths and Physics, and for a student who wants to rewatch an explanation. It is weaker for a Year 9 student who needs someone sitting beside them, and it is genuinely poor for coaching handwritten examination technique under time pressure.

Hybrid is where most families land, and it is the part of an IB and IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai arrangement that causes the most friction when it is not written down. Settle four things in the message. Which mode is the default. Who may switch a session to online, the tutor or the family or both. How much notice a switch needs, which is usually the same notice as a cancellation. And whether a switched session is treated identically for payment and marking, which it should be. Without those four lines, the monsoon turns every Tuesday into a negotiation.

  • Home tuition is the default; write it into the message as the default
  • Agree who may switch a session online, and how much notice that takes
  • Online keeps scarce subjects and monsoon weeks from losing the slot entirely
  • Handwritten examination technique is harder to coach through a screen
  • A hybrid month should change nothing about payment, marking or feedback

What IB Gram checks, and the records you should keep yourself

Before a tutor is listed we check identity documents, the qualification they claim, and their teaching history with the specific syllabus rather than the board in general. Someone who taught Cambridge International Education Physics five years ago is not the same as someone teaching the current specification this year. We talk to every tutor about the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay boundary before they take a Diploma student, because a tutor who is vague about it in a conversation will be vague about it in March. We do not rate tutors with stars, we do not publish result claims, and we do not ask tutors for testimonials.

There is a second layer of checking that only the parent can do, and it takes one phone call. Ask the tutor which syllabus version they are teaching right now and in which school or with which students. Ask them to explain one assessment criterion in their own words, without reading it out. Ask which component students most often lose marks on and why. A tutor who answers those three questions concretely is a different proposition from one who answers warmly. Parents search for the best IB and IGCSE tutor in Mumbai and there is no such person. There is a tutor who fits this subject, this student, this slot and this travel distance, and the fit is what you are testing on that call.

Then keep records, because the written agreement is only useful if there is something to check it against. One message thread per month, listing the dates taught, the topic covered, the work set, the work returned marked, and an acknowledgement of each payment, takes about thirty seconds a week to maintain. It protects the tutor as much as the family. When a disagreement does arrive, usually about whether a session was cancelled in time or whether a draft was ever handed over, the thread settles it in a minute instead of turning into a conversation nobody wants to have with someone who is in their house every Tuesday.

  • Ask the tutor to explain one assessment criterion in their own words
  • Keep one monthly thread listing dates, topics, work set and work returned
  • Acknowledge every payment in writing in that same thread
  • Ask which syllabus version they teach now, not which board they know
  • Check the tutor's actual travel plan before agreeing a weekday evening slot

What should be in a written agreement with a private tutor in Mumbai?

A written understanding with an IB and IGCSE private tutor in Mumbai should cover nine things: the slot and how far ahead it is held, the notice each side gives for a cancellation, what a missed session counts as, whether marking between sessions is included, how and how often feedback reaches the parent, what the tutor will not do, how either side ends the arrangement, and how payment and records are handled. None of it is adversarial. Every item is something both people are already assuming, written down so that the two assumptions turn out to be the same assumption.

Start with the slot and the notice, because that is where almost every dispute begins. Say whether the slot is held for the term or confirmed week by week, and say it plainly, because a tutor quietly holding Tuesday at seven for you is turning down other work to do it. Then set one notice period and apply it in both directions. Twenty four hours is a common and fair line. Inside that window a session the family cancels is treated as taught; outside it the slot moves. The half families forget is the reverse case: if the tutor cancels inside the same window, the session is made up within the same week where the timetable allows, rather than quietly disappearing. An arrangement where only one side carries the cancellation risk does not survive a term of Mumbai traffic, school trips and family weddings.

Next, marking and feedback, which are separate things. Marking is what happens to the student's work. Feedback is what reaches the parent, and the most useful form is a short written note once a month rather than a verbal update at the door, because the doorway conversation happens with the student standing three feet away and so is never fully honest. Agree who the note goes to, roughly how long it is, and that it names one thing improving and one thing not. Then the boundaries, which should be written as plainly as possible: the tutor will not write any part of an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or coursework, will not supply sentences to be pasted in, will not edit inside the student's file, will not contact the school on the family's behalf, and will not share this student's work with other students.

Finally, ending it and paying for it. Both sides give the same notice, a part finished month is settled for sessions already taught rather than argued over, and anything the tutor holds that belongs to the student goes back. Agree when payment happens, by what method, and that each one is acknowledged in the thread. All of this belongs in a message, not a contract. A contract nobody reads protects nobody, and producing one before the first session changes a working relationship into a transaction. A message both people have read and replied to in words is a real record, it lives in the thread you already use for scheduling, and it is findable in February, which is the only month anyone ever needs to find it.

  • The slot, and whether it is held for the term or week by week
  • Equal notice both ways, and what a missed session counts as
  • Whether marking is included, how many pieces, and how fast it returns
  • How feedback reaches the parent, in writing, and how often
  • What the tutor will not do: no IA, EE or coursework writing, no school contact
  • How either side ends it, and how payment and records are kept

What should progress look like, and when can a Mumbai parent call it?

At four weeks you should see the student working differently, not scoring differently. At one term you should see a school report or a mock that moves. At one full examination cycle you can judge the arrangement properly. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, no tutor can, and a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade is telling you something important about how they work. Write two review dates into the message, one in October and one in February, so that judging the arrangement is a diary entry rather than an argument.

Four weeks is about behaviour. Homework starts earlier in the evening. The questions the student asks get more specific, moving from saying a topic is confusing to naming the step they lose. They start bringing their own past paper questions to the session instead of waiting to be given work. None of that shows in a mark yet, and expecting a mark to move inside a month is the most common reason a perfectly good arrangement is ended too early. One term is where the number should start to move, in a school report, a term test or a mock, and if nothing at all has shifted by then it is a fair conversation to have, with the tutor first and with us second.

One examination cycle is the only honest test, and even then the result is shaped by things no tutor controls: how many subjects were weak at the start, whether the student did the work between sessions, and what else was happening that year. We do not guarantee grades and we would rather say so here than imply otherwise and have a family discover it in July. When an arrangement is not working, say it plainly to the tutor first, because a surprising number of mismatches are about pace or explanation style and are fixable in one conversation. If it is not fixable, give the notice you agreed, settle what is owed, and tell us. We reshortlist from the same brief with the mismatch recorded, and nobody has to justify themselves.

  • Four weeks: homework starts earlier and the questions get more specific
  • One term: a school report, term test or mock that moves
  • One examination cycle: the only honest test of the whole arrangement
  • Write two review dates into the message, in October and in February
  • No tutor can guarantee a grade, and a promise of one is a warning

Getting started: the message to send before the first home tuition session

Have four things ready before the first call. The most recent school report, so the tutor is working from evidence rather than a parent's summary. The subject list with Higher Level and Standard Level, or Core and Extended, marked against each one. The school's assessment calendar if you have been sent it, because the deadlines on it will shape the whole term. And the two evenings you can genuinely hold every week. One home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Mumbai is rarely the right structure, so expect to be told that two subjects need two people and plan the week around the scarcer one.

The first session is not a test and should not be run like one. A good tutor reads one piece of recent work, asks the student what they think is going wrong, teaches something properly so the hour is worth having, and sets one piece of work with a clear deadline. By the end of it the parent should know what the tutor thinks the actual problem is, which is often not the subject named in the enquiry. A student failing IGCSE Physics is sometimes a student who cannot rearrange an equation, and that is a different term of work from the one the family was expecting to book.

Then send the message. Nine lines, written before session one rather than after session four, and sent to the tutor with a request that they reply in words rather than with a thumbs up. If they will not put the terms in writing, that is information. Diarise the October review the same day you agree the slot. The whole thing takes ten minutes, and it is the difference between an arrangement that ends cleanly whenever it needs to and one that ends badly in the middle of an examination term.

  • Have the latest report card and marked subject list ready before the call
  • Hold two fixed evenings rather than offering whichever evening is free
  • Send the terms message before session one, not after session four
  • Ask the other side to reply in words, not with a thumbs up
  • Diarise the first review date the same day you agree the slot
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

What should a written agreement with a private tutor actually cover?+

Nine things, and they fit comfortably in one message. The slot and how far ahead it is held; the notice each side gives for a cancellation; what a missed session counts as; whether marking between sessions is included and how quickly work comes back; how feedback reaches the parent and how often; what the tutor will not do; how either side ends the arrangement; and how payment is made and recorded. Nothing on that list is adversarial or unusual. Every item is something both people are already quietly assuming, written down so that the two sets of assumptions turn out to be the same one.

Is a message enough, or do we need a proper contract?+

A message is enough, and in practice it works better than a contract. A contract nobody reads protects nobody, and asking a tutor to sign one before the first session changes a working relationship into a transaction. What matters is that both people have read the same sentences and replied in words rather than with an emoji. Keep it in the thread you already use for scheduling, so it is findable later. If the arrangement runs through a company or covers several children across a year, a short written scope makes sense. For a weekly private arrangement between one family and one teacher, the message is the record.

What happens if we cancel a session at short notice?+

Whatever you agreed, applied identically in both directions. A common and fair line is twenty four hours: inside that window the session is treated as taught, outside it the slot simply moves. The part families forget is the reverse case. If the tutor cancels inside the same window, the session should be made up in the same week wherever the timetable allows, not quietly dropped. Write both halves into the message at the start. An arrangement where only the family carries the cancellation risk will not survive a term of Mumbai traffic, school trips, illness and the two or three weddings that always land on a Tuesday.

Will the tutor mark work between sessions?+

Only if you agreed it, which is exactly why it belongs in the message. Marking is real work and it is not automatically included in the hour you booked. Agree a number and a turnaround. Two marked pieces a month returned within three days is a clear line both sides can hold, and a Diploma Programme essay takes considerably longer to mark than an IGCSE Maths problem set, so the mix matters as much as the count. Also agree what marking means. For an Internal Assessment draft it means written comments against the published criteria, never corrections typed into the student's own document.

Can a tutor help write my child's Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

No, and this should be written down before the first session rather than discovered in March. A tutor can teach the underlying skill, explain the criteria, discuss whether a research question is workable, and give written feedback on a draft the student wrote themselves. A tutor cannot write any part of an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or coursework, cannot supply sentences to be pasted in, and cannot work inside the student's file. The school signs authenticity declarations on this work and the student signs them too. Putting the boundary in the agreement protects the student, the tutor and the family at the same time.

Should the tutor contact my child's school?+

No. A private tutor has no standing with the school and should not email a subject teacher, ask for a mark to be explained, or attend a parent meeting on your behalf. If something needs raising with the school, the parent raises it. Put this in the agreement, because it comes up more often than families expect, usually when a tutor disagrees with how a draft has been marked. The tutor's view can absolutely inform what you decide to say to the school, and often should. It simply cannot be delivered to the school in the tutor's name or from the tutor's email.

What do IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai depend on?+

Board, level, subject scarcity, travel distance and session length, and we do not publish a price list because an honest one does not exist. A Higher Level Diploma subject carries a heavier marking load than a Year 9 IGCSE subject and is priced accordingly. A scarce subject costs more than a common one because fewer people can teach it. A tutor crossing from Andheri to Colaba twice a week is pricing that travel in, openly or otherwise. Agree the rate, the session length and exactly what marking is included in the same message, so that nobody is recalculating anything in month three.

Our home tutor has to cross Ghodbunder Road to reach us in Thane. How do we protect the slot?+

Move the slot rather than the tutor. A weekday home tuition session starting at six in Kasarvadavali means a home tutor leaving Thane station at around five, which is the worst possible hour on Ghodbunder Road and the single most common reason a Thane arrangement collapses by October. A half past seven start, or a weekend morning, usually holds for a full term where a six o'clock start does not. Write the start time into the agreement with a ten minute grace window in both directions, and agree in advance that a heavy monsoon week runs as an online class at the same time rather than being lost.

Does someone need to be at home during a home tuition session in Bandra?+

An adult should be in the flat, though not in the room. For a Year 9 or Year 10 student that is a basic safeguarding expectation, and most Bandra West and Khar West societies separately want a resident to confirm a visitor at the gate anyway. Arrange standing entry for the tutor so they are not negotiating with security every week, set the session up at a dining table rather than in a bedroom, and leave the door open. None of this is distrust of a particular person. It is what a sensible home tuition arrangement looks like, and a professional tutor will expect it.

How do we end it if the tutor is not working out?+

You give the notice you agreed, in writing, and you do not have to justify the decision. Two weeks is a reasonable default and it should apply to the tutor as well as to you. Settle what is outstanding for sessions already taught rather than arguing over a half month. Then tell us, and we reshortlist from the same brief with the mismatch recorded, which is usually about pace, explanation style or the specific component the student is stuck on rather than subject knowledge. Most replacements happen because the fit was wrong from the start, not because anyone behaved badly.

We only realised we needed help in February. Is it too late?+

It is not too late, but February is the hardest month to start and the worst month to negotiate terms. Diploma Internal Assessment deadlines land together, Year 11 students are weeks away from the May and June series, and almost every experienced tutor's evening slots are already taken. Expect a shorter shortlist, fewer slot options and less flexibility on notice than you would have had in June. Agree the terms anyway, in the same single message, even though it feels rushed. A February arrangement with nothing written down is the one most likely to end badly in April, when nobody has the time to sort it out.

Do you have IB and IGCSE tutors near me in Mumbai if we live in Kharghar?+

Yes, and Navi Mumbai is matched node to node rather than across the creek. For Kharghar we shortlist tutors living in Kharghar, Belapur, Nerul or Panvel, because Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway make those a reliable twenty to thirty minute run, while a tutor travelling from the island city over the Atal Setu will quietly stop being available around week six. The same logic applies in Vashi and in Panvel. Ask any tutor where they actually live, not which areas they say they cover, before you agree a weekday evening slot.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us the board, the year group, the subjects and the two evenings you can genuinely hold. You will get a short shortlist of tutors who already teach that syllabus in your part of Mumbai, with the slots they still have open. You speak to them yourself, agree the nine terms in one written message, and book a first session. If the fit is wrong, tell us and we reshortlist from the same brief.
